#RHOA: Kandi Burruss Joins BET+ Holiday Film ‘Whatever It Takes’

Bravo star Kandi Burruss (The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Kandi & The Gang) has joined the cast of the BET+ original holiday film Whatever It Takes. Deadline has your exclusive first look at the trailer above.

From writers TuShonda Whitaker and Amaleka McCall Brathwaite, Whatever It Takes is set on Thanksgiving weekend as snow is falling, Christmas is on the horizon and the promises of the New Year are near. Navigating careers, life and the nuances of friendship, five women bond over the imperfections in their love lives. The holidays bring some of them their greatest wishes and others their most profound losses.
The film, starring and executive produced by Tami Roman, will premiere on December 21. The cast also includes Brely Evans, Kendrick Cross, Rayan Lawrence, Zuri James, Stevie Baggs Jr, Linda Boston, Monica Robinson and AJ Akua Johnson.

“I’m so excited to be working with this incredibly talented cast on such a heartwarming movie, which truly captures the holiday spirit and the importance of sisterhood,” Burruss shared in an exclusive statement to Deadline.
“Tami and I were thrilled when Kandi agreed to join us for Whatever It Takes. We are excited for the audience to see how she lit up our screens in such a multifaceted role. They are going to love seeing her as much as we do,” added Jill Ramsey of Roman Ramsey Productions, producers of the film alongside Swirl Films.

Tailiah Breon directed the project. In addition to Roman, Jill Ramsey, Eric Tomosunas, James Dubose, Ron Robinson and Devin Griffin executive produce alongside Jerry Leo for BET+; Abbey MacDonald, Marvin Neil and Lorisa Bates for BET+ co-produce. #MusicNews: Chanté Moore is hitting the road on her ‘Sway & Slay Tour’

Chanté Moore is loving and living her best life right now. She’s enjoying being married to former BET exec Stephen Hill and still in the honeymoon phase over a year after saying “I do.” In addition to living out her songs “Love’s Taken Over” and “Chanté’s Got A Man,” she’ll soon be coming to a stage near you to perform them on her Sway & Slay Tour.

The forever-fine singer – who still sounds and looks as good as she did in the ’90s – is ready to bring fans something new on this tour, which will take her around the U.S. through February 2024. Her travels begin in Chicago on December 18th with a three-night stand in the Windy City. Chanté will then sashay on to New York City, Boston, Philadelphia, Houston, Atlanta, Detroit, Pittsburgh and Napa, California. The 10-city/22-show tour will conclude on February 12th with a concert in Nashville.

The majority of the shows on this tour will take place at various City Winery locations. Only three dates – in Houston, Detroit and Napa – will be held at non-City Winery venues. The Houston show will take place at The Arena Theater and also features Kem, the Sound Board at Motor City Casino will be the site of the Detroit show and Blue Note in Napa will open its doors to the songbird for four shows over two days.

#HipHopNews: Nicki Minaj Officially Announces "Pink Friday 2 World Tour" Dates

Nicki Minaj revealed the full itinerary for her 2024 “Pink Friday 2 World Tour.” It will mark her largest venture yet, encompassing arena shows across North America and Europe. Additional appearances include Rolling Loud California and Dreamville Festival.
Tickets will be up for grabs starting with a Citi presale on Tuesday (Dec. 12). Following that, the general public sale will begin on Friday (Dec. 15) at 9 a.m. local time.

The “Pink Friday 2 World Tour” is set to kick off on March 1, 2024 in Oakland, California. Other major stops include New Orleans, Atlanta, Charlotte, Brooklyn, Boston, Toronto, and Chicago. The voyage is currently slated to come to a close in early June in Berlin, with the possibility of additional dates being added.
Pink Friday 2, Minaj’s fifth studio album, was originally set for a Nov. 17 release. However, it was pushed back to the rapper’s 41st birthday (Dec. 8). The 22-track project boasted collaborations with Future, Drake, Lil Wayne, J. Cole, and Lil Uzi Vert, among others.

It also housed cuts like “Red Ruby Da Sleeze,” “Super Freaky Girl,” “Big Difference,” and “Last Time I Saw You.” The LP is Minaj’s first since 2018 and served as the sequel to her 2010 debut, Pink Friday.
Expressing her gratitude to fans, Minaj first announced the trek in November. She stated, “I love you guys so much. I am so grateful for the years of support [and] love you have given me. At times, maybe I didn’t even deserve all that you have poured into me. Nonetheless, you will love this album.” She added, “I will give tour deets close to that time, but obviously, the tour will start around the first quarter of 2024.”


Golden Globes 2024: See The Full Nominations List

Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie,” a feminist phenomenon that traces its origins to toy store shelves, dominated nominations for the 2024 Golden Globe Awards. Its 10 nods makes the movie the second most-nominated in the 81-year history of the show, tying it with “Cabaret.”

“Barbie” was followed closely by “Oppenheimer,” Christopher Nolan’s look at J. Robert Oppenheimer and the development of the atomic bomb, which scored eight nominations. “Oppenheimer” was released on the same weekend as “Barbie,” a rare confluence of blockbusters that inspired memes and, later, Halloween costumes, while turbocharging the box office.

Unlike the Oscars, the Globes honor the best of both film and television and steer clear of recognizing excellence in most below-the-line crafts like editing or cinematography. They also distinguish between film genres, recognizing the best comedies and musicals separately from the best dramas. Thus, “Oppenheimer” will compete for the top drama prize alongside “Killers of the Flower Moon,” “Maestro,” “Anatomy of a Fall,” “The Zone of Interest” and “Past Lives.” For its part, “Barbie” will vie for best comedy or musical with “Air,” “American Fiction,” “Poor Things,” “May December” and “The Holdovers.”

“Succession,” HBO’s look at a media mogul’s warring family, scored a leading nine nominations for its final season. FX’s “The Bear” and Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building” were the second-most nominated shows with five nods apiece. In addition to “Succession,” the best TV drama race will involve “1923,” “The Crown,” “The Diplomat,” “The Last of Us” and “The Morning Show.” “The Bear” and “Only Murders in the Building” will duke it out for best comedy with “Abbott Elementary,” “Barry,” “Jury Duty” and “Ted Lasso.”

Netflix, the producer of series and movies like “Maestro,”  “The Crown” and “The Diplomat,” scored the most nominations of any media company, with 28. It was followed by Warner Bros. Discovery with 27 – its haul included nominations for “Barbie,” “Succession” and “Barry.”

Not everyone had cause to celebrate the morning’s announcement. Ava DuVernay’s “Origin” and Michael Mann’s “Ferrari” were shut out despite earning rave reviews, while “The Color Purple” failed to snag a best musical or comedy nomination, and the reboot of “Frasier” went home empty-handed.

There are some notable changes to this year’s show. ​​Each category now has six, instead of five nominees. Additionally, the Globes introduced two new prizes to celebrate box office achievements and stand-up comedy performances. That meant that films like “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour,” “John Wick: Chapter 4” and “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” are being recognized for their ticket sales, while the likes of Trevor Noah, Amy Schumer and Ricky Gervais (a former Globes host) are getting attention for their stand-up specials.

The Globes, which are voted on by roughly 300 journalists, don’t always line up with the picks of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, which is comprised of 10,500 film industry professionals. Last year’s top Globes went to “The Fabelmans” and “The Banshees of Inisherin,” while the Oscars selected “Everything Everywhere All at Once” as best picture.

Nominations for the top honors were unveiled by Cedric “The Entertainer” and Wilmer Valderrama. The ceremony takes place Jan. 7, and will be broadcast live on CBS, the awards ceremony’s new network home. The ceremony will also stream on Paramount+ and the CBS app. The Globes had aired on NBC for decades, but that partnership ended with the 2023 broadcast. During much of that run, the Globes were seen as an essential stop in Hollywood’s long and winding awards season, and their boozy ceremonies were appointment viewing for audiences hoping to see a less guarded side of A-list talent (the free-flowing champagne helped loosen those inhibitions). It was one of the only awards shows where winners like Christine Lahti and Renée Zellweger were late accepting their prize because of an ill-timed bathroom break.

However, the good times ended as questions arose about the lack of diversity and ethical practices of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), the group behind the awards. Boycotts followed, and NBC opted not to air the 2022 show (it returned last year). Since that time, the Globes has worked to expand its membership, clean up its guidelines and has reorganized itself as a for-profit entity, after the HFPA was wound down and its assets were sold to Dick Clark Productions and Eldridge. Variety’s parent company, Penske Media, subsequently acquired Dick Clark Productions in a joint venture with Eldridge. The show has yet to reveal a host for this year’s broadcast — the 2023 telecast was emceed by Jerrod Carmichael. So it’s unclear who will be cracking jokes from the stage as the Globes seeks to reinvent itself and restore its reputation as the loose and fun, yet still prestigious, major awards ceremony.

Cardi B Confirms Her Relationship Status With Offset

Cardi B told fans she is no longer with Offset in an Instagram Live on Monday, confirming rumors she and her husband have split
The rapper expressed relief in the early morning livestream, where she said, “I’ve been single for a minute now, but I have been afraid to like... not afraid... I just don’t know how to tell the world.”

“But I feel like today has been a sign,” she went on. “The last time I got on Live, I kind of wanted to tell you guys, but I didn’t know how to tell you, so I changed my mind. But it has been like this for a minute now. I just took it as a sign.”

Cardi also said the breakup shouldn’t come as a surprise to fans who pay close attention to her social media.
“I don’t know if you guys have been getting clues from me, from my Lives, or from my stories, when I put some certain music, or from my unfollowings,” she explained.

Taking an optimistic tone, the “WAP” rapper told viewers, “I wanna start 2024 fresh, open. I don’t know. I’m curious for a new life, for a new beginning. And yeah, I’m excited.”

Speculation that Cardi and Offset had split started last week after people noticed they had unfollowed each other on Instagram.
Afterwards, Cardi hinted at the breakup in an Instagram Story that said, “You know when you just out grow relationships.”
She followed up with another that read, “I’m tired of protecting peoples feelings...I GOTTA PUT MYSELF FIRST!”

Cardi and Offset married in 2017 and share two children.


Ciara Gives Birth, Welcomes New Baby Amora Princess With Husband Russell

Ciara's family just leveled up.The "Goodies" singer and her husband Russell Wilson welcomed a baby girl named Amora Princess Wilson, they announced on Dec. 11.
Alongside a photo of themselves holding the hands of their new daughter, who was adorably clad in a black onesie and knitted cap bearing her name, the couple wrote on Instagram, "We Love You so much!"

She joins 9-year-old brother Future Zahir—who Ciara shares with ex Future—as well as siblings Sienna Princess, 6, and Win Harrison, 3.
The baby news comes five days after Ciara proved that she was ready to pop, baring her baby bump at the Los Angeles premiere of The Color Purple. Clad in an all-white ensemble from Georges Hobeika, the "Level Up" artist unbuttoned her top to show off her belly, which she decorated with flecks of metallic gold.

At the time, Ciara admitted that she wasn't 100 percent ready for her little one's big arrival.
"The thing is, when you bring a new life, it's such a big responsibility," she told Entertainment Tonight. "I already have three babies right now and they're turnt. It's like the three stooges, you never know what you're going to get. Adding a fourth member in is like, 'What's that going to be like?'"
But her husband has been waiting to expand their family for quite some time. Last year, Russell asked Ciara during her appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, "Can we have more babies?"

Laughing, Ciara told the Denver Broncos quarterback, who she wed in 2016, "We definitely can!"


Jonathan Majors & Grace Jabari’s Driver Claims Actor Was Assaulted In SUV Incident

Actor Jonathan Majors continues to battle his alleged assault trial involving his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari. Majors is accused of roughing her up at the back of an SUV while trying to get his phone back after Jabbari snatched it from him because of a text that seemed to imply he was cheating on her.
The driver of the vehicle took the stand recently and painted Jabbari as the aggressor. He claimed that he thought she hit the actor after she "became very angry" while demanding his phone.

Driver Alleges Jonathan Majors Wasn't The Aggressor
Naveed Sarwar, the driver who drove the Escalade SUV in which the "Creed III" actor allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend took the stand on Monday and shared his account of the incident.
He noted that while the incident was going on, he kept his eyes fixed on the road but "had a feeling the girl had hit the boy... because of the way that she was fighting and the sounds produced."

The driver also divulged that Jabbari demanded to see Majors' phone, saying, "The girl became very angry. He was not doing anything; she was doing it," adding that the actor tried to "get rid" of her.
Sarwar confirmed that the estranged couple dropped off the vehicle at some point in Manhattan and proceeded to argue about it. He said Majors was "pushing her back into the car to get rid of her" and confirmed that a blood sample wasn't found in his vehicle.

Majors' driver's claims come after the actor's appearance in the courtroom last week, which seemed to suggest he physically assaulted her. In the trial, text messages between the pair were read publicly, but the text seemed to implicate Majors as the aggressor.
"I fear you have no perspective on what could happen if you go to the hospital," Majors texted Jabbari in September 2022. "They will ask you questions, and as I don't think you actually protect us, it could lead to an investigation even if you do lie and they suspect something."

In that message, the actor also stated, "It's just fake," but it was unclear what he meant by "fake."
Jabbari, who read the text aloud to the jury on Friday, seemed to be bent on not exposing her former boyfriend to the law after seemingly causing an injury to her head.

"I will tell the doctor I bumped my head," Jabbari cried as she read aloud the message in court.
Moved to tears, she was then helped by Assistant District Attorney Kelli Galaway to continue, “I will tell the doctor I bumped my head if I go. I’m going to give it one more day, but I can’t sleep and I need some stronger pain killers. That’s all: why would I tell them what really happened when it’s clear I want to be with you?"

Jonathan Majors Threatened To Commit Suicide
In their text exchange, Majors also threatened to take his life as Jabbari seemingly opted out of going to a doctor to prevent an investigation.
In the text, Majors wrote, "Last night, I considered killing myself versus coming home. I need love too. Or maybe I'm such a monster and horrible man; I don't deserve it. And I should just kill myself. In this way, my existence is miserable. I want to die."

The 30-year-old dancer previously recounted their relationship, claiming Majors started exhibiting "cruel and manipulative patterns" after a while in their partnership.
She cited a 2022 incident where she was scolded by the actor for attending the Glastonbury festival with friends. At the time, the actor reportedly "scared" her with his remarks about an ex-boyfriend and heavily criticized her for going to the event.
According to Variety, the actor's legal team contends that the accusations made by his ex-girlfriend are "false" and motivated by a desire for "ruin" after he broke up with her.

After offering their opening statements for his three-count charges of misdemeanor assault, aggravated harassment, and harassment, Prosecutor Michael Perez alleged that their "honeymoon period" had disappeared and "things began to sour," leading Majors to "manipulate and strategically withhold affection from [Jabbari]" and even go as far as suicide to "control her actions."

However, the defense counsel noted the case was their relationship break up and Jabbari was acting out of spite.
“Mr. Majors’ lifetime of hard work was coming to fruition and his career seemed unstoppable until […] he ended his relationship with Jabbari, and she made these false allegations,” his defense lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, said. “[This is] a man who spent 30 years working hard to get to where he was on March 25. A man with the world at his fingertips.”

“This is a case about the end of a relationship, not about a crime… at least not one that Mr. Majors committed. In revenge, she made these false allegations to ruin Mr. Majors and take away everything he spent his life working for,” Chaudhry added.

Edmonds’ post arrives just as recent rumors claim Coach Prime left her for a younger fitness model named Qiana Aviles. The 40-something-year-old is a social media influencer and entrepreneur who owns several salons, dry bars, and beauty spas that focus on skin care, hair, and nails.

It is unclear when and where Sanders met the Puerto Rican bombshell, but according to outspoken social media personality Tasha K, the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes is currently dating a Hispanic woman.
Sanders and Edmonds confirmed their split in a joint statement shared on Edmonds’ page. In their announcement, both 56-year-olds agreed to “move forward in life as friends,” while also noting that their choice to separate was made “with love in our hearts, respect for each other, and appreciation for the time we’ve shared together.”

Zac Efron honors ‘17 Again’ co-star Matthew Perry at his Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony

Zac Efron took a moment to honor his friend and “17 Again” co-star Matthew Perry on Monday when he received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“I really also want to mention someone that’s not here today, and that’s Matthew Perry, who was so kind and generous with me while we worked on ‘17 Again’ together,” Efron said during his ceremony speech.

Efron described collaborating with Perry as “so much fun and it really did propel me and motivate me in so many ways. It really pushed me into the next chapter of my career and for that, thank you so much Matthew.”

“Thinking about you a lot today,” Efron said, appearing to get emotional.Perry died at his Los Angeles home in October. He was 54.
Efron played the younger version of Perry’s “17 Again” character in the 2009 rom-com, where Perry’s character is transformed back into his 17-year-old self in a chance to rewrite his life.

Perry had even recently expressed his desire to collaborate with Efron again, according to his friend, Athenna Crosby, who spent time with the “Friends” actor the day before he died.

“He said that he wanted to make a movie about his life, and he had worked with Zac Efron in the past on a movie and he said that he wanted Zac Efron to play him as a younger version,” Crosby told Entertainment Tonight last month. “He was going to ask him soon to do that,” she added.

The “High School Musical” star told Extra TV in November that he was “hugely honored” to learn about Perry’s hopes of casting him. “It would be extraordinary to do and, of course, I’m just really still devastated by the fact he’s gone.”

Denzel Washington’s Casting as Ancient General Hannibal in Antoine Fuqua Netflix Film Sparks Controversy in Tunisia

Denzel Washington being cast in Antoine Fuqua’s upcoming Netflix movie as ancient Carthaginian general Hannibal is sparking some controversy in Tunisia, the home country of the great military commander.
According to French newspaper Courrier International, there are complaints about depicting the Carthaginian general as a Black African being made in the media and the Tunisian parliament. Member of Parliament Yassine Mami has pointed out that Hannibal, who was born in 247 BC in Carthage – now known as Tunis, the Tunisian capital – was of West Asian Semitic origin. “There is a risk of falsifying history: we need to take position on this subject,” the Tunisian politician reportedly stated

Concurrently, French-language Tunisian newspaper La Presse has published an editorial in which it similarly objects that depicting Hannibal as a Black African is “according to Tunisians and many observers, a historical error.”

However, Tunisian culture minister Hayet Ketat-Guermazi had a different, more pragmatic take on the matter.
“It’s fiction. It is their [Netflix’s] right to do what they want,” she responded, according to French newspaper Le Monde. “Hannibal is a historical figure and we are all proud that he was Tunisian. But what can we do?” She went on to note that she is trying to negotiate with Netflix to shoot at least a portion of the film in Tunisia. “I hope they decide to shoot at least a sequence of the film here and that that this is publicized. We want Tunisia to go back to being a location where foreign films are shot,” Ketat-Guermazi said, as reported by Le Monde.

Representatives for Netflix, Washington and Fuqua did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
The controversy in Tunisia over Washington playing Hannibal is reminiscent of the uproar sparked in Egypt in April over Britain’s Adele James, who is of mixed heritage, playing Cleopatra in Netflix’s docudrama “Queen Cleopatra.” The first-century Egyptian queen was born in the Egyptian city of Alexandria in 69 BC and belonged to a Greek-speaking dynasty. Egyptian academics went on a rampage over the fact that Cleopatra was of European descent and not Black.

The still-untitled film about the Carthaginian general will be written by John Logan, the three-time Academy Award winner who scribed Martin Scorsese’s “The Aviator” and Ridley Scott’s “Gladiator.”
According to the official logline, the movie is “based on real-life warrior Hannibal, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest military commanders in history. The film covers the pivotal battles he led against the Roman Republic during the Second Punic War.”

Hannibal invaded Italy while riding a Northern African war elephant. Under his lead, the Carthaginians won key victories against the Romans, allowing Hannibal to occupy the majority of southern Italy for 15 years. Eventually, Hannibal was defeated by the Romans at the Battle of Zama after they counter-invaded North Africa.
Fuqua most recently directed Washington in the action-thriller “The Equalizer 3,” in which Washington reprised his role as ex-Marine Robert McCall.

Washington is currently involved in another war epic, the upcoming sequel to Ridley Scott’s “Gladiator,” which has resumed shooting in Malta after production was halted due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.

The Obamas Produced ‘Leave the World Behind’ Most Watched Movie on Netflix – Unsatisfying Ending Explained

*Julia Robert’s new apocalyptic drama “Leave the World Behind” is currently the #1 watched film on the platform.
Directed by Sam Esmail, the sci-fi feature was produced by Barack and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground Productions. Roberts co-stars in the film along with Ethan Hawk, Mahershala Ali, and Kevin Bacon. “Leave the World Behind” is adapted from Rumaan Alam’s 2020 novel of the same name, and centers on a family whose “getaway to a luxurious rental home takes an ominous turn when a cyberattack knocks out their devices, and two strangers appear at their door,” per IMDB.

Society unravels in the movie after technology and smart devices – such as phones, televisions, and EVs (Teslas), start failing.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk complained about this “inaccuracy” in the film. The scene that prompted a response from the billionaire shows Roberts and Hawke (who play a married couple) chased by self-driving Teslas that end up crashing and causing a vehicle pile-up.

In response to the scene, Musk wrote on X/Twitter, “Teslas can charge from solar panels even if the world goes fully Mad Max and there is no more gasoline!”
Alam spoke to Variety about the deviations the film makes from his book and not giving viewers a proper conclusion at the movie’s end, saying: “Wouldn’t that be so dissatisfying? It’s a film that respects you as a viewer enough to not provide that. In that final scene between Julia and Myha’la, they don’t embrace.”

Alam added, “Even prior to that, when they’re in that little shed and come to a détente, Ruth acknowledges that there’s some truth to the things that Amanda has said, that they’re in agreement about something, but it doesn’t end with a hug. It’s not that kind of story. I have no problem with like a big disaster movie that saves the six or eight principals and reunites them in the aftermath of a disaster and allows you to be like, “Well, everything’s gonna be okay.” I just don’t think this is that kind of film.”

Several social media users slammed the film’s ending, while others criticized the haters for missing the movie’s overall message. One X/Twitter user wrote: “The fact that everyone is upset about that ending from the movie Leave The World behind instead of actually LISTENING to what might possibly happening in our future as a reality is the real disappointment here.
