#RHOA: Kandi Burruss’ ATL Restaurant Sued Over 2020 Shooting That Left 14-Year-Old Injured

Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss and her husband Todd Tucker is facing legal trouble after their restaurant was sued over a shooting that went down, RadarOnline.com has learned.

According to court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, a woman named Kiya Humphries, on behalf of herself and her daughter Tammy Johnson, sued Kandi’s restaurant, the owners of the shopping center where the spot is located and the security team hired by the center.

On February 14, 2020, Humphries said she entered Old Lady Gang with her 14-year-old daughter. The two were accompanied by Humphries’ other children Simeon and Essance, along with another relative named Kenette.

In the suit, Humphries said that Johnson was near the front of the restaurant in the waiting area not far from the door. Prior to entering the restaurant, one of the family members heard a loud altercation in the parking lot outside of the entrance.

“While waiting to be seated at Old Lady Gang, a man wearing a red track suit entered Old Lady Gang and was near the front of the restaurant,” the suit read. “Shortly afterward, a second man entered Old Lady Gang.”

The suit added, “The man wearing the red tracksuit began shooting. Kiya Humphries was shot in the right calf.”

Humphries said her daughter’s gunshot wound required medical treatment, including multiple surgeries, therapy and counseling.

“Kiya Humphries has experienced severe physical and emotional pain and suffering as a result of the gunshot wound, she sustained,” the suit reads.

Kiya “will continue to experience severe physical and emotional pain and suffering as a result of the gunshot wound she sustained.”

The incident happened at Kandi’s second Old Lady Gang which she opened in 2018. In the suit, the family said the property owners should have been aware that additional security was needed given the many past incidents of crime.

They said that in the years before the 2020 shooting, there were numerous crimes involving firearms, robberies, and assaults.

Humphries said her family had no knowledge of the frequent and recurring violent crimes at the shopping center. In the suit, Kandi’s business stands accused of being negligent in not providing proper security despite the shopping center’s history.

The suit seeks unspecified damages.

Nicki Minaj’s Husband To Disprove Sex Offender Status In NY Court

Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Perry, has filed a lawsuit against the state for unlawfully including his name in a sex offender registry.

Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, sued the State of New York for unlawfully including him in a sex offender registry. Moreover, defendants are moving to dismiss, as they hold that Petty had every opportunity to challenge his status. Recently, he faced in-home detention for failing to register in California. According to court documents received by AllHipHop, the court will begin oral arguments on January 6th, 2023.

Firstly, Petty claims that he never had such chances. Specifically, he says he never received notice of a 2004 Sex Offender Registration Act hearing, which defendants deny.

The court stated that they sent Petty proper notice and due process. “The court-certified transcript of this hearing… is both an official judicial record and integral to Plaintiff’s complaint… Plaintiff acknowledged his identity on the record, and his counsel stated that Plaintiff did not contest his designation as a level 2 sex offender.”

Given this, Petty said someone forged his signature and that he was in jail at the time. However, the other side of the court dismissed these claims as well.

“Plaintiff’s counsel’s implication that this official judicial transcript is a forgery… is nothing short of absurd. As the Court is well aware, incarcerated individuals are constantly being brought to court from prison… The state courts similarly routinely require the production of incarcerated individuals for court appearances, such as the SORA hearing at issue.”

“Although Plaintiff admits to his felony conviction for Attempted Rape in the First Degree in State Court he still alleges that he was unaware of his sex offender status and his risk level redetermination until he was arrested in March 2020 out-of-state for failure to register [as a sex offender].” They elaborated on these claims. “From 2013 through March 2020, [he] alleges he was unaware of the collateral consequences of his felony sex crime conviction.”

Finally, they said Petty’s demands “are meritless… The SORA hearing transcript demonstrates that Plaintiff is fourteen years late in pursuing this lawsuit.”

Specifically, Petty is suing the State of New York and the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services. Judge Eric R. Komitee will preside Minaj’s husband’s case. Additionally, Petty denied rape allegations against him last year.

‘Selling Tampa’ Is Canceled, Cast Blames Racism For Decision

“Selling Tampa” will not be renewed for a second season — and some of the cast believes racial discrimination played a role in the decision

“When they show us [black women] in a different light — when we’re bickering, fighting and name-calling — they get a Season 2 and Season 3, but that’s not what we were displaying,” cast member Juawana Colbert tells us.

“I feel like we weren’t given a second chance, possibly because of what we represented as minority women.”

“Selling Tampa” premiered on Netflix in December 2021. The cast was entirely made up of women of color: Colbert, Colony Reeves, Anne-Sophie Petit, Tennille Moore, Karla Giorgo, Rena Frazier, Alexis Williams and Sharelle Rosado, who is the head broker of Allure Realty, the firm the show is centered around.

We’re told all of the ladies were left wondering for nearly a year whether the show would be picked up for a second season, and a source says they were given the “runaround.”

The insider, who asked to remain anonymous, tells Page Six the cast got “hundreds” of DMs “daily” from fans asking about a new season, but they didn’t know what to say.

Then, just last week, we’re told Adam DiVello, the creator of the “Selling” franchise that also includes “Selling Sunset” and “Selling the OC,” and producer Skyler Wakil asked the cast to hop on a Zoom call, where they broke the news.

“Adam specifically said [the decision] was related to numbers but never gave any additional information,” Colbert, 41, says. “I don’t know if he was talking about rating numbers or budget numbers. He just said numbers.”

The source reiterates that the cast was not given much of an explanation and were instead just told to tell inquiring fans, “There aren’t any plans right now for more ‘Selling Tampa,’ but luckily the first season is still on Netflix for fans to rewatch or discover.”

“We know that [‘Selling Tampa’] was No. 1 in multiple countries, and it did fairly well,” the insider adds. “Obviously, it’s not going to be a ‘Selling Sunset’ Season 5. … It’s just weird. All of a sudden this all-black cast doesn’t even get a chance for a Season 2.”

According to the Orlando Sentinel, “Tampa” was the No. 1 show in the US on Netflix within 24 hours after its release.

Colbert says that since the numbers excuse doesn’t seem to add up, the cast is convinced that they are being held to an unfair standard or ratings expectation.

“When it comes to a minority show of all minority cast members, we’re going to naturally have lower numbers because we are a minority in numbers [of the population] in general,” the real estate agent explains.

Colbert adds that there were a few other issues that came up while filming that show Netflix and their producers were “out of touch” on how to film with an all-black cast.

She says the producers had an expectation for the women to get ready within an hour for confessional interviews, which many of the cast expressed was unreasonable.

“With sew-ins or the types of extensions that typically women of color have to get, we don’t work on that same time frame,” Colbert tells us. “It’s not a wash-and-go. Women that are minorities, it’s not that easy. Our hair, just in general, takes longer.”

The businesswoman says her co-stars spoke up to production, and while their remarks were not “negatively received,” not much change took place afterward.

“I don’t recall it being like, ‘OK, we understand. We’re going to make a conscious effort to do something different,'” Colbert says. “It was almost like it wasn’t said.”

She adds, “Whoever they had on the ground is out of touch a little bit with working with a cast of all-minority women,” before noting that not all of production was white, but those “in control” of making big decisions were.

The insider, meanwhile, claims DiVello never visited the “Selling Tampa” cast on set — as he reportedly has done with both of his other hit shows.

“[The cast] didn’t meet Adam until a month or two after the premiere,” the source alleges. “Adam is on set with all his other shows, except this. Granted, there was COVID, so I’m sure that’s an excuse.”

Colbert also notes that there was an issue from the onset of the marketing for their show.

In the first “Selling Tampa” teaser, “Selling Sunset” head honcho Jason Oppenheim is seen standing in front of his predominantly white cast and handing over a set of keys to Rosado, 35, and her all-black cast.

“I think with the all-white cast members of ‘Selling Sunset’ handing off a key to all-women black cast members in Tampa kind of set us up for misrepresentation and comparison and, really, a competition, honestly,” Colbert says. “I think from the get-go, we were set up a little bit at a disadvantage.”

After “Selling Tampa” premiered, radio host DJ Envy publicly criticized the show for not featuring as many sales as its predecessor.

“1 show sold no homes….NONE!!! Kind of embarrassing. The other show sells homes. Hmmm….” the “Breakfast Club” host wrote on Instagram in January.

Colbert says of the discrepancy, “For whatever reason, they chose to edit it how they wanted to edit it, but we are all active, we are all busy, we all have higher-end homes that have sold, and we have ones that are not higher-end homes that have sold.

“We are all active agents. When we were filming, there were deals that were done, but that’s now how it was edited.”

We’re told that after “Selling Tampa” got the axe, producers considered a spinoff in Miami. Additionally, a pilot featuring Latin and black men and women was filmed but not picked up.

“For some reason, they said no to it. What are they going to say yes to? Do they need to have four black cast members that are basically another [‘Selling Sunset’ star] Christine Quinn? Like, what’s going on?”

There was another show in the works, according to a source, but most "Selling Tampa" co-stars were not asked to take part.

Netflix

The source adds that Netflix allegedly wants “model-like people” who are “wealthy,” “young” and “fit” for the new show it’s said to be working on.

The criticism surrounding the demise of “Selling Tampa” comes just as Lauren Speed of another Netflix show, “Love Is Blind,” called out her franchise on Twitter for allegedly “cutting all the black women” from the show.

Colbert points out why not having a show like theirs on a global streaming service hinders breaking stereotypes about black women.

She says, “Not being able to see women that look like us in a professional setting, a setting where they have a career, a setting where we can have disagreements but not be throwing glasses or punches … it’s not fair.”

Netflix and a rep for DiVello did not immediately return requests for comment.

However, a source close to production tells Page Six, “This decision was made solely on performance, and we hope to tap into various members of the cast for future projects.”

Flavor Flav Snaps On Spirit Gate Agent For Missing His Flight

Flavor Flav will tell you Spirit Airlines is like 9-1-1 ... a total joke, except he's not laughing after narrowly missing a flight in Las Vegas and losing his cool.

TMZ Hip Hop obtained footage of Flav trying not to pop his top Thursday night at a Spirit gate inside Harry Reid International Airport. Sources tell us it was around 11:30 PM, and the iconic Public Enemy rapper was sitting near the gate waiting to catch a flight to Detroit.

We're told he was working on his laptop and chatting on the phone -- basically, preoccupied -- when he noticed the gate agent shutting the jetway door. He ran up, but she wouldn't reopen it for him ... so he missed the flight.

You can see he was super annoyed, and argued back and forth with the Spirit employee -- another man even stepped in to plead Flav's case.

Flav was fired up and hurled some obscenities at the employee, who threatened to call security -- but thankfully for Flav, in the end, she didn't and he did not become public enemy #1 at the Vegas airport.

Sources close to Flav tell us he commonly waits to board after everyone else because people want to take pictures with him ... and he doesn't want to hold up the boarding process. Those sources also claim Spirit actually did reopen the door to let other passengers in -- before this video starts -- but closed it again on Flav and 2 other people.

Flav tells TMZ ... "Spirit Airlines shut the door on me while I was in line to board. I was upset and said some harsh words to the gate agent. I apologize to those who witnessed me acting out of character. I do not apologize to Spirit Airlines or the gate agent."

Vanilla Ice also had a similar meltdown after missing a flight a few years ago, and as we reported ... Gillie Da Kid just had an intense showdown with a TSA agent.

Drake Loses $2 Million On UFC Bet

Drake reportedly lost $2 million on a bet. The "In My Feelings" rapper placed the hefty sum on middleweight champion Israel Adesanya in his bout against Alex Pereira during UFC 281 in New York, according to TMZ.

Much to Drizzy's dismay, Pereira won. If it had gone the other way, the hip-hop megastar would have banked $2,900,000.

The multi-millionaire hasn't had much luck of late. Last week, it was revealed that the "Rich Flex" and his collaborator 21 Savage are being sued by the publishers of Vogue magazine for $4 million.

Conde Nast filed a lawsuit against the stars for allegedly using the fashion bible's name without permission to promote their new album, "Her Loss", and argued the musicians' publicity campaign was built "entirely" on the unauthorised use of Vogue trademarks and false claims they would appear on the next cover of the publication with the "love and support" of editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.

The character did get one too, but it didn’t last that long.

Dolly Parton Accepts $100 Million From Jeff Bezos And Jason Isbell Has A Suggestion For How To Use It

Who’s having a better November than Dolly Parton? The country icon was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame last weekend, and she followed that up this weekend by accepting this year’s Bezos Courage and Civility Award from Jeff Bezos and his partner, Lauren Sanchez, and $100 million to put toward philanthropic work.

“Jeff and I are so proud to share that we have a new Bezos Courage and Civility Award winner — a woman who gives with her heart and leads with love and compassion in every aspect of her work,” Sanchez wrote on Instagram. “We can’t wait to see all the good that you’re going to do with this $100 million award, @DollyParton.”

In Sanchez’s Instagram video, Parton joined them on stage and gave a speech: “Did you say 100 million dollars?! When people are in position to help, you should help. And I know that I’ve always said, I try to put my money where my heart is. And I think you do the same thing. I will do my best to do good things with this money. Thank you, Jeff.”

Parton has a long philanthropic history, including her COVID-19 Research Fund donating toward the Moderna vaccine. Earlier this year, she donated $1 million to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center to aid in research around pediatric infectious diseases. So, Parton will undoubtedly distribute this $100 million award responsibly. But Jason Isbell threw out a light-hearted joke about how Parton might be able to use it: “Dwitter,” an alternative option to Elon Musk’s Twitter.

Dua Lipa Says She’s Not Performing at World Cup, Says Qatar Should Fulfill ‘Human Rights Pledges’

Dua Lipa took to Instagram to address recent speculation that she will be performing at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar later this month.

“I will not be performing and nor have I ever been involved in any negotiations to perform. I will be cheering England on from afar,” she wrote. “I look forward to visiting Qatar when it has fulfilled all the human rights pledges it made when it won the right to host the World Cup.”

Lipa’s stance is no surprise considering the host country’s checkered record when it comes to gay rights, as well as the way it treated the workers that build many of the stadiums that will host games.

The Guardian reported in Feb. 2021 that more than 6,500 migrant workers from Bangladesh,  India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka have died in Qatar since it was awarded the 2022 World Cup, presumably while working on projects related to the tournament. Also in Qatar, sexual relations between two males comes with a possible seven-year prison sentence, and according to sharia law, “homosexuality is punishable by death.”

Another report indicates England fans could face the death penalty if they’re caught smuggling in possession of drugs in Al Bayt Stadium. Meanwhile, The Athletic reported that there are very real concerns that females who attend the World Cup could face punishment if they were to report instances of sexual assault.

Nas’ California Home Reportedly Burglarized, Two Bags Worth of Items Stolen

Nas’ home in Calabasas was burglarized over the weekend while he was in New York City, TMZ reports. Two men allegedly broke into the rapper’s residence through a rear door around 8:30 p.m. PT on Saturday. Members of Nas’ team saw the burglars leaving with two bags filled with items on a Ring camera, and alerted authorities. However, no one was there when officers arrived.

Sources tell TMZ that the intruders ravaged through his residence. The exact value of the stolen items is unclear.

TMZ notes that once Nas returns to his Calabasas home, he can take inventory of what exactly was taken, and authorities can begin the process of retrieving what was stolen.

Nas was at a listening party in New York City for the third installment in the King’s Disease series, which is once again co-executive produced by Hit-Boy.

“I feel like every song we make, without even consciously doing it, we’re trying to make it better than the last,” Nas said in an interview with Complex last year following the release of KD2. “It’s just already embedded in us to do that. I feel like as long as we keep taking that approach, it’s going to get crazier and crazier, and that’s what happened.”

“I find that when we get together and we’re moving and we’re laughing, then we spend a little time talking about what we’re going through. ‘What’s a hot flash?’ We have girlfriends around the table who are OBGYNs, who have real information. All of that keeps us lifted up.”

According to PEOPLE, Mrs. Obama’s workouts have undergone some adjustments. Authorities had previously stated that three people are dead and two others are injured in connection with a shooting on Culbreth Road around 10:30 p.m. Pres. Ryan says the victims are Devin Chandler, Lavel Davis, and D’Sean Perry. All three were members of the football team.

Ryan says one student injured in the shooting is in critical condition, while another is in good condition.

“My heart is broken for the victims and their families and for all those who knew and loved them, and they are all in my prayers. As I said before, when I see our students, I see my own kids, and I cannot imagine anything worse for a parent and as a child,” Ryan said.

Chief Longo says Jones is charged with second-degree murder.

The university urged everyone on UVA Grounds to shelter in place throughout the night and into the morning. Police lifted that order shortly after 10:30 a.m. Monday.

Jones, who is a UVA student, had been a member of the football team in 2018.

Charlottesville City Schools, City Hall, Albemarle County Public Schools, as well as multiple businesses closed Monday.
