#MAGFAB: Amandla Stenberg Talks Film Cancel Culture in Fall Fashion for 'The Cut'

Actor Amandla Stenberg covers the August 2022 issue of The Cut, styled by Roberto Johnson. Lea Winkler [IG] photographed Stenberg, who spoke with Hunter Schafer about ‘Bodies, Bodies, Bodies’, the new ‘satirical slasher’ movie out the first week in August.

The film centers on a group of privileged Gen Z types behaving on a sliding scale of terribleness. Pete Davidson plays the young man David, with a remote mansion in the family. The cast of ‘Bodies, Bodies, Bodies’ converges at David’s place for a “hurricane party” in advance of really bad weather.

As Mother Nature bears down on the 20-somethings, the group launches into a party game where a player selected as the ‘murderer’ must tag and ‘kill’ a victim. The group must find the ‘killer’, a quest that becomes morbidly serious when a real dead body joins the party.

The ambiguity of so-called true-friends relationships becomes apparent as trust and order break down among the people no longer sure who is a real friend and who is fake.

The interview between Stenberg and Shafer makes evident cover star’s disorientation over the arguments being made about the ‘Body, Body, Body’ characters on social media. In a new and separate controversy that erupted this week, precipitated by Stenberg’s reaction to a film critique, the narrative about the film has become almost more important than the film itself.

Stenberg’s Views On Cancel Culture of Film Characters

In her interview Stenberg speaks to the reality that cancel culture is now taking on fictional characters, arguing that certain characters in the movie shouldn’t even exist — or be rewritten to avoid their most offensive characteristics.

“I actually feel that is detrimental to what film is supposed to be about, which is putting terrible people on screens and laughing at them sometimes when necessary. That’s a very healthy way for us to expel our demons,” Stenberg shares with Schafer.

“If we can take our demons and splash them across the silver screen and take a good look at them, maybe we can be more aware of them, and maybe we can laugh while we do it, and then the ego death comes a little easier.”

Amanda Stenberg Responds to Lena Wilson

This week the game of wits between actor Amandla Stenberg and New York Times writer Lena Wilson has our attention, primarily because there is a power dynamic in play.

New York Times writer Lena Wilson said that while the film ‘Bodies, Bodies, Bodies’ — which boasts 89% on Rotten Tomatoes — is not “bad,” it’s certainly “not special.” The critics’ rating remains 88% on Rotten Tomatoes with an audience score of 72%.

Had Wilson stopped there, Stenberg would have kept her fingers quiet.  The critic did not, going on full blast instead.

Wilson continued writing: “The only thing that really sets ‘Bodies Bodies Bodies’ apart is its place in the A24 hype machine, where it doubles as a 95-minute advertisement for cleavage and Charli XCX’s latest single.”

Like zillions of men in every country in the world, Wilson went for T&A. Five decades into the third wave of American feminism, Wilson went for Stenberg’s boobs, sending the zinger from her protected perch of the NYT.

The Clapback

No comments are allowed with NYT film critics, prompting Stenberg to not only DM Wilson, but to make it public. Now that’s a gutsy move.

“Maybe if you had gotten ur eyes off my t-ts you could’ve watched the movie,” Stenberg’s DM read.

Stenberg said she messaged Wilson because she was fed up about being objectified over her chest.

“It’s quite surprising the amount of commentary I receive on my boobs,” Stenberg said, then adding “ I do get tired of people talking about my chest. There seems to be a lot of unwarranted conversation about my chest.”

And then — dancing and prancing in a very public verbal boxing match — Stenberg was smoother than a morning protein shake.

“I do not wish you any harm. You are allowed to have your criticism on my work and I’m allowed to have my criticisms of your work. I wish you the best,” she added to Wilson.

Stenberg said she initially posted the screenshot exposing the critic’s’ message because she didn’t want “this person who has more social power than me to think that it’s f–king okay to do something like this. And that’s all.”

There’s no doubt that Wilson operates with the power of the pen, as a film critic for the New York Times. Apparently Wilson called Stenberg ‘homophobic’, based on Stenberg’s summary of the word-volley.

“I thought it was hilarious. I thought because Lena is gay, and I am also gay…as gay people, we would both find this comment funny. I was also curious to know what Lena would say to such a statement. Lena decided to publish it and also says that I am homophobic for saying that.”

Stenberg’s sparring reminded me of Muhammad Ali’s advice about life in general — way beyond boxing:

“Float like a butterfly; sting like a bee.”

Stenberg did smile throughout the entire encounter and raised more than one valid thought-bubble along the way. Well done, Amandla.

#RHOA: After 14 Years of her Failed First Attempt. Shereé Whitfield Shocks Costars, Pulls Off  her Fashion Show

On Sunday's season finale of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Shereé Whitfield (finally ... and successfully!) put on the She by Shereé fashion show 14 years after her disastrous first attempt — but not without some bumps in the road, including a surprise visit from an ex-boyfriend.

"At this point, I've done everything I can do," Whitfield, 52, told cameras during a confessional. "The venue is booked, but the clothes, that's another story."

Whitfield, then, revealed she was having issues with the production of her pieces.

"I outsourced some work to a production house in New York, and she promised she would have everything in time, but right now, she has nothing to me," she said. "I don't know what I'm getting, how many pieces I'm getting, and I'm getting frustrated."

"I'm seeing red," she continued. "I am beginning to have flashbacks, PTSD from the fashion show with no fashion 14 years ago. I am still embarrassed. I cannot, will not allow that to happen again."

In RHOA's first season in 2008, Whitfield's first attempt at putting on a fashion show didn't exactly go as planned — as she didn't have any samples to show her guests due to poor production and quality.

The night before the show, Whitfield revealed she only had five pieces and was waiting on 19 more. Yes, 19!

"It's not looking so good right now," she said. "At this point, I'm doing all that I can, the clothes are out of my hands."

As if she wasn't under enough stress, her ex-boyfriend Tyrone Gilliams walked in.

"I thought I'd pull up on you," he said, surprising Whitfield.

"So you just pop up, but when I was in your city you couldn't pop up," said Whitfield, referring to the moment she planned to meet up with Gilliams in Philadelphia, but he never showed.

"Not why I'm on home confinement," said Gilliams, who recently got out of prison. "It doesn't work that way."

"Why wouldn't you tell me that," she asked. "I'm in Philly all the time. We go to restaurants. What are you talking about?

"We're not going there and publicizing it," he said. "You wasn't saying you was taping."

"Why are you here today?" an angry Whitfield said. "No remorse, no apology or nothing?"

"Why would I apologize for something that you did to help me go back to prison?" he asked. "That's not going to happen."

"I was f---ing humiliated," she responded. "I don't want you here. You can't tell me you're not going to apologize to me like you ain't did nothing wrong."

"I definitely don't owe you an apology," he said before walking out.

The morning of the fashion show, Whitfield revealed she had finally received 24 looks — plus a few extras.

And while Gilliams did show up with flowers, Whitfield wanted nothing to do with him.

Kanye West Says People Can 'Call Me Whatever Names They Want' After Latest Instagram Rant

Kanye West is back on Instagram. The rapper, 45, reappeared on the platform Friday morning following a spate of since-deleted posts earlier this week. West had taken aim at numerous people and brands with a series of posts regarding his children, pornography, his fashion collaborations and his ex, Kim Kardashian.

"Here is the through line," he began. "Gap having meetings about me without me Adidas releasing old shoes and coloring my shoes like I'm dead me not having a say on where my children go to school."

He continued, "Call me whatever names you want. If you don't understand why I won't back down on my businesses my brands and my children then you're the ones who are crazy."

West appeared to be referencing an image reading "I'm the kids father" captioned, "Imagine not having any say in where your kids go to school," followed by a text message purportedly exchanged with Kardashian, from whom he was declared legally single in March. The former couple share children North, 9, Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 3.

The reality star, 41, appeared to ask West to "please stop." The rapper responded, "No. We need to talk in person. You don't have say so of where the kids go to school. Why you get say? Cause you half white?"

"I was driven crazy before," he wrote in another post. "I'm not going crazy no more ... I'm not the crazy one on here. I won't stop until I have a say on my kids no matter what it legally takes."

On Friday, West suggested the children attend two separate schools, each a few days a week. Kardashian did not appear to respond to the text message.

While many of Thursday's posts focused on his children's schooling, West also discussed other topics, including pornography and his addiction to it, Kardashian's ex-boyfriend Pete Davidson, "my brothers" Travis Scott, Tristan Thompson and Scott Disick — all of whom share children with one of the Kardashian/Jenner sisters — and his former mother-in-law Kris Jenner.

In a second screenshot of his text conversation with Kardashian, West posted a note Kardashian passed along from Jenner reading, "Please tell him to please stop mentioning my name. I'm almost 67 years old and I don't always feel great and this stresses me to no end."

The same evening, West — who had previously slammed clothing company Gap on Instagram earlier in the week — also called out the outfitter directly along with Adidas, who markets his sneakers.

Lisa Kudrow Called 'One Of The Worst Humans' By Stephen Pratt Following Encounter In Party

The 'Friends' Actress Has Come Under Fire By 'The Hills' Star Over Her Alleged Remarks About Him When She Approached The Reality TV Star And His Wife In A Party.

Lisa Kudrow has been labelled "one of the worst humans" on Earth by "The Hills" star Spencer Pratt. Blasting the "Friends" actress, 59, on TikTok, the 39-year-old was joined by TV personality Bethenny Frankel, 51, who also commented she had a "crazy experience" with Lisa when she appeared on her talk show.

Initially slamming Lisa last week, Spencer then took to the social platform again on Saturday (03.09.22) to explain his remark. Lisa approached him and his wife Heidi Montag, 35, at a party in 2009, and the actress claimed he had the "eyes of a serial killer" and would murder his partner, so the dad-of-one alleged.

He said, "It was almost like we were filming for 'Punk'd' and a camera was going to pop up, but Heidi and I didn't care as there was delicious food and a open bar. As we were sitting there consuming a little caviar, Phoebe (Lisa) approaches, which was a little shocking as no-one had spoken to us at all at the party."

"Right in front of me she tells Heidi that she needs to get away from me as fast as possible because I'm going to murder Heidi and that I have the eyes of a serial killer. Heidi waits to see if this a joke, maybe this is a hidden camera party. But no laughs, she just walks away. That right there as the rudest moment I've ever encountered with a human being."

Spencer had claimed Lisa was "one of the worst humans I've come in contact with" in a video on his TikTok account on Friday (02.09.22). He called her "Phoebe from Friends" in the footage, and alleged she was one of the "worst"' people he had ever encountered "by far."

Bethenny weighed in online at the time with the comment, "That's crazy. She was on my talk show and I had a crazy experience also" - but did not provide any more details.

Meanwhile, Spencer, who married Heidi in 2008, is expecting their second child in December after they had son Gunner in 2017.

French Montana Launches Addiction Help Service Following Pal Mac Miller's Death

French Montana was inspired to launch an addiction help service after Mac Miller's death. French, who battled his own addiction issues over the years before getting sober in 2019, has now revealed the loss of his pal pushed him towards creating a partnership with Guardian Recovery Services and NAQI Healthcare to provides a medically supervised in-home detox program for addicts.

Speaking on the "PEOPLE Every Day" podcast, he explained, "It (Miller's death) touched me because I'm in that space and I consider these artists as my brothers and my family. And when we lose one, it's like damn near losing part of us. I've been thinking about this for a very long time. What can I do to help?" Mac passed away in 2018 aged 26 after suffering an accidental drug overdose.

French went on to divulge, "They say (alcohol) is the easiest thing to get into and it's the hardest thing to get rid of. It's a slippery slope. Every time you celebrate, you're having to drink. You have your own vices and after a while, that becomes an everyday thing. It becomes an addiction."

He continued, "(Pills) can sneak up on you, too, when you go to the doctor for a pain in your leg or your tooth is hurting, they give you Vicodins or Percocets. Before you know it, you're feeling good, and you keep taking them (when you don't need them anymore). And opiates are one of the most dangerous things to get addicted to - oxys, all of those."

Kate Hudson Almost Threw Engagement Ring Into Sea During Furious Row With Danny Fujikawa

French went on to explain addicts trying to detox on their own can end up in danger so he hopes his new venture treating people at home will help save lives. He added, "You can't shake it off yourself, because it's dangerous (to detox cold turkey) ... I'm very excited and very happy that we can cure people, especially in the comfort of their homes. A lot of people are private. When you go through your problems, you want to stay private and you want to be taken care of wherever you're comfortable. We want to help people stay alive as much as we can, wherever they're comfortable."

The 36-year-old rap star has been sober for more than a year after spending time in hospital in 2019 for exhaustion and substance abuse. Speaking about his recovery, he said, "It was just overdoing something for too long. And, to the point where, now sober is becoming my new high. People were saying I was out of control. Not me, you know what I'm saying?"

The ex of Khloe Kardashian now considers overcoming his addiction to be one of his biggest achievements in life. He explained, "[I] stepped back, took two steps back, didn't drop no music, detox from social media ... And I think that was like the hardest thing I ever did in my life, to snatch myself back. So, for me to stop everything and just step back, that was like one of my biggest accomplishments."

Rihanna Reportedly Helped Clean Up New York Restaurant Which Stayed Open Past Opening Hours For Singer’s Late-Night Dinner With Friends

Rihanna was gracious enough to help a restaurant clean up after they extended their opening hours for her and a few of her friends for a late-night dinner, it’s been reported. According to Page Six, the “We All Want Love” singer hit up Cavier Russe last week with a few of her closest pals — and given that the restaurant was well past its closing time, the 34-year-old showed her gratitude by offering to tidy up before leaving the celebrity hotspot in New York.

Rihanna, who welcomed her firstborn in May, treated herself and six girlfriends to caviar, sashimi bites, and champagne until around 2 AM when she concluded her time at the eatery by “helping the waitstaff clean up and push the bar stools back into place since she stayed so late,” a source revealed.

News of Rih-Rih’s kind deed comes just two months after she dethroned Kim Kardashian to become America’s youngest self-made female billionaire with a reported net worth of $1.4 billion thanks to the success of Fenty Beauty and Savage x Fenty. Her makeup products, in particular, have taken the cosmetics industry by storm, offering a wide range of shades for women of all skin tones, having generated a colossal $550 million in 2020 alone.

Back in 2019, Rihanna spoke about her work ethic in an interview with The New York Times, explaining that while she’s grateful for the success and money she’s made over the years, she’s never driven to do things for the sake of financial gains. “I never thought I’d make this much money, so a number is not going to stop me from working,” she expressed.

Speaking of the importance she saw in making Fenty Beauty all about inclusivity for all women, she told Elle earlier this year, “It felt like the right fit. Fenty Beauty, our brand, is for everyone. We want everyone to feel included, and to be able to expand our doors with the Ulta Beauty family is a beautiful thing.”

As her business empire continues to expand, with reports claiming Rihanna is planning to dive into the hair industry after trademarking Fenty Hair, fans are still wondering when they can expect to hear some new music from the Bajan beauty whose last album was released in early 2016.

“Anti,” which included a string of hits such as “Needed Me,” “Work,” and “Consideration,” became one of the singer’s highest-rated records to date — and while it’s been six years since the project was released, people are still anticipating for Rihanna to share details of when they can possibly get their hands on some new music material.

Well, Rih continues to remain tight-lipped about the idea of releasing any new music, though she did say in a past interview that she had recorded a few reggae-inspired songs. But it’s unclear whether they will be featured on her next body of work.

Friends Of Notorious B.I.G.’s Daughter Are Reportedly Confused By Her Decision To Post Boyfriend’s $1 Million Bail

Friends of the Notorious B.I.G.’s daughter T’yanna Wallace are said to be concerned over her recent decision to post $1 million bail for her boyfriend, Tyshawn Baldwin, who was charged with reckless endangerment, assault, and unlawful fleeing of police in a hit-and-run incident that saw three people seriously injured in Ridgewood, Queens last month.

To make matters worse, two of the people he mowed down were a mother and her infant after Baldwin sped off following a traffic stop for parking his vehicle at an intersection while driving with tinted windows that were darker than what the state of New York permits. Not to mention, his license had also expired at the time of his run-in with law enforcement officers, but fleeing the scene only worsened the situation as he was later arrested but was granted an early release when Wallace posted a $1 million bail by using her $1.5 million home as collateral.

Now, according to Page Six, friends of the 29-year-old have reportedly spoken out, saying they are somewhat worried about her decision to get her boyfriend out of jail. “What the f–k is she thinking?” a friend told the news outlet. “I mean, I know she love[s] him and all, but $1 million for your man? And to make it even worse, the whole thing is [allegedly] on camera. Now if the roles were reversed, would the outcome be the same? No, because he don’t got no paper like T’yanna got paper.”

Another source close to the situation continued, “Biggie would be so pissed right now. People have been reaching out to her, but T’yanna does not want to hear it. She chooses who she answers to and who gets the decline button on her cell. At the end of the day, she is an adult, and she is going to do what she wants to do.”

Wallace’s boyfriend, who was arranged on 17 counts of first-degree assault, along with the aforementioned charges, has reportedly been dating Biggie’s daughter for a few years, but despite their close relationship, friends still don’t agree with her decision to post his bail — especially considering how high the sum was.

Meanwhile, back in March, the aspiring entrepreneur said she’s gotten tired of people referring to her as being the late rapper’s daughter. While she’s proud of being the child of someone who is often deemed as one of the greatest rappers of all time, Wallace admits that she would hope that people will eventually see her for her own talent, having recently launched her own clothing line, Notoriouss.

“I don’t like when people say, ‘Oh, that’s Biggie’s daughter,’ because that’s not my name,” she explained. “Now everybody knows Notoriouss clothing by T’yanna Wallace. I barely hear ‘Biggie’s daughter.’ I hear T’yanna first, and I like that.”

“I don’t want to live off of my dad’s money. I want to make my own money. I worked in the cafeteria for a year while I attended Penn State.”

#BoxOfficeNews: “Spider-Man: No Way Home” Tops Box Office While Cinema Day Draws Millions

“Spider-Man: No Way Home” has swung back on top of the box office during a holiday weekend where American theaters aimed to lure moviegoers with discounted $3 tickets.

The first “National Cinema Day” nationwide promotion became the highest-attended day of the year, drawing an estimated 8.1 million moviegoers on Saturday, according to The Cinema Foundation. The one-day event – offered on more than 30,000 screens and held in more than 3,000 theaters, including major chains AMC and Regal Cinemas – collected preliminary box office returns of $24.3 million, according to data firm Comscore.

National Cinema Day was intended to flood theaters with moviegoers during a Labor Day weekend, which is traditionally one of the slowest weekends in the industry. The promotion looked to prompt people to return in the fall, inspired by a sizzle reel of the upcoming films from major studios including Disney, Lionsgate, Sony and A24.

“This event outstripped our biggest expectations,” said Jackie Brenneman, president of the Cinema Foundation, a nonprofit arm of the National Association of Theater Owners, in a statement. “The idea of the day was to thank moviegoers for an amazing summer, and now we have to thank them for an amazing day.”

Some other countries have experimented with a similar day of cheap movie tickets, but Saturday’s promotion was the first of its kind on such a large scale in the U.S. Organizers of the National Cinema Day said the event could become an annual fixture.

“This proves that people love going to the theaters,” said Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst for Comscore. “Pricing is always a consideration.”

The top three performing movie titles for the day included Tom Cruise’s “Top Gun: Maverick,” The Rock and Kevin Hart’s “DC League of Super Pets” and Brad Pitt’s “Bullet Train.” Another top draw was “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” which recaptured the No. 1 box office spot for the weekend.

With never-seen footage, the re-release of the Sony and Marvel blockbuster superhero film starring Tom Holland and Zendaya brought in an estimated $6 million. “Top Gun” followed with $5.5 million, “Super Pets” garnered $5.45 million, “Bullet Train” pulled in $5.4 million and last week's top earner “The Invitation” grossed $4.7 million to round out the top five.

The re-release of Steven Spielberg’s 1975 classic “Jaws,” on big screens for the first time in 3D, nabbed the final spot among the weekend's top 10 performers.

Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Comscore. Final domestic figures will be released Monday.

1. “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” $6 million.

2. “Top Gun: Maverick,” $5.5 million.

3. “DC League of Super Pets,” $5.45 million.

4. “Bullet Train,” $5.4 million.

5. “The Invitation,” $4.7 million.

Bruce Willis Seen Out and About in Santa Monica, Calif. for Meal with a Friend

Bruce Willis stepped out for a morning meal in Santa Monica, California, over the weekend.

On Saturday, the Die Hard icon was photographed out and about in the Los Angeles neighborhood while grabbing breakfast with a friend.

In the snap, Willis, 67, appeared in great shape while opting for a casual outfit, wearing a white button-down short sleeve shirt, gray trousers, and a pair of blue sneakers. The actor completed his look with a baseball cap.

Last month, Willis was seen showing off his harmonica skills while spending time with his daughter Rumer Willis' boyfriend Derek Richard Thomas, in a sweet video his wife Emma Heming Willis shared on Instagram.

Thomas sang and strummed his guitar in the black and white clip, as Bruce accompanied him on the harmonica from a nearby staircase.

"Their talent is speaking for itself. I'll just leave this here 🎶," Emma, 44, wrote of the moment at the time, adding the hashtag #jamsession.

In March, the Willis family revealed on social media that Bruce would be "stepping away" from his acting career after being diagnosed with aphasia.

"To Bruce's amazing supporters, as a family, we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities," they wrote. "As a result of this and with much consideration, Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him."

His family's Instagram posts went on to say that it "is a really challenging time" for them all, "and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support."

"We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him. As Bruce always says, 'Live it up' and together we plan to do just that," they concluded, signing the note from the actor's daughters Rumer, 34, Scout Willis, Tallulah Willis, Mabel and Evelyn, plus Bruce's wife Emma and ex-wife Demi Moore.

Armie Hammer's Accuser Calls Out ' House of Hammer ' Doc Team for 'Exploiting My Trauma'

As Armie Hammer's alleged acts of sexual violence take to the screen in House of Hammer, one of his accusers is calling out the team behind the documentary.

The woman known only as Effie, whose rape allegations against Hammer, 36, sparked an LAPD investigation into the actor last March, has spoken out against filmmakers Elli Hakami and Julian Hobbs' "disgusting" treatment of her in a statement to the Los Angeles Times.

"It is extremely inappropriate of you to exploit such a tragic, vulnerable time in many people's lives, with no regard whatsoever for our healing process and privacy," she said.

"The way they've been exploiting my trauma is disgusting," Effie added. "When I keep screaming 'no' and they keep going, saying they don't need my permission, they remind me of Armie."

The three-part docuseries, which premiered Friday on HBO Max and discovery+, examines the allegations against Hammer, as well as his wealthy family's history of allegedly abusive behavior that contributed to his upbringing.

As Effie is the only one of Hammer's accusers with an active investigation, Hobbs told the Los Angeles Times it was "an editorial decision" to "not get involved."

Although, he argued that they didn't "have to get permission" to include screenshots of messages Hammer allegedly sent to Effie, describing his fantasies of rape and cannibalism, as she shared them on her Instagram profile House of Effie last January.

"[Effie]'s been vocal that she thinks that making any form of media out of these events is somewhat problematic," he explained. "As filmmakers, we don't take that view. We feel we actually have an obligation to tell the stories.

"If you were to stop making films because someone said they didn't want a film being made, you would never make a film. The reality is, not everyone gets onboard films. That being said, I think what you have to be is ethically on the right side of how the affairs are conducted. You have to be open and transparent about what's going on with the film, and you have to be inclusive," Hobbs added.

House of Hammer is now streaming on HBO Max and discovery+.

BYU Eliminated LGBTQ Pamphlets Included in Welcome Bags for Incoming Freshmen

Brigham Young University got rid of an LGBTQIA+ pamphlet that was originally included in welcome bags for freshmen students arriving for the school year.

NBC New reports that the RaYnbow Collective created the booklets so that incoming queer freshmen would have resources—like events, therapy, safe housing, and mentorship—available to them. The nonprofit was started by gay BYU student Maddison Tenney and isn’t connected to the school.

Tenney made the pamphlets based on her own experience when she first came to the university. BYU doesn’t allow students to date or be affectionate toward people of the same sex; doing so could lead to being kicked out of school.

“I remember sitting in my white dorm room with these cement walls and breaking down,” Tenney said. “I didn’t know anyone who was like me, who wanted to be faithful and embrace the fullness of themselves.”

She followed the protocol when submitting 5,000 booklets as part of the welcome bags, describing them as “very vanilla, very in line with church teachings.” She continued, “We tried really hard to make sure it was kosher and in line with policy.” She said the only feedback she got about them was that they looked “great.”

However, a friend later DM’d Tenney on Instagram to let her know that, as a resident assistant at the dorms, she was instructed to remove the LGBTQIA+ pamphlets from the welcome bags. When Tenney tried to find out why the Office of Student Life said that the brochures were discarded because they didn’t follow the church’s teachings.

BYU later told Today.com that they instead “would like our students and employees to utilize our new Office of Belonging as their primary resource in these efforts.” The statement continued, “The decision to remove the materials by Student Life was based on the university’s commitment to providing support through the Office of Belonging and our counseling services and not to allow outside entities to imply affiliation with or endorsement from the university,” the statement continued.

The Office of Belonging was launched in August 2021 and just recently got a physical location. Unfortunately, Tenney has been receiving multiple threats and had to remove her information from the BYU directory.

Canadian authorities are hunting for two suspects in mass stabbing that left 10 dead and 15 injured.

A manhunt is underway in Canada for two “armed and dangerous” men who are suspects in a mass stabbing Sunday that left at least 10 dead and 15 injured at multiple scenes in an Indigenous community and the surrounding area in Saskatchewan, authorities say.

The suspects, identified by police as Damien Sanderson and Myles Sanderson, are believed to have been traveling in a black Nissan Rogue with Saskatchewan license plate 119 MPI, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said, noting it’s unclear whether the pair may have changed vehicles.

Leaders of the James Smith Cree Nation declared a state of emergency Sunday in response to “numerous murders and assaults” on members of the community, according to a news release. At least one attack also occurred in the neighboring community of Weldon, police said.

“It is certainly a very significant event if not the largest we’ve seen in the last number of years,” Assistant Commissioner of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Rhonda Blackmore said.

Some victims appear to have been targeted, while others are believed to have been attacked randomly, police said.

Authorities are urging residents in the area to be vigilant and take precautions, including sheltering in place in some communities, as the suspects are still at large. The police issued a “civil emergency” alert warning those in the Regina area to be especially careful after police received a report the suspects may have been traveling there.

“Relentless” overnight attempts to find the two men were unsuccessful, the Regina police chief said in a Monday update.

“The two suspects are still at large, despite efforts through the night by @reginapolice and @RCMPSK,” Chief Evan Bray said in a tweet. “If anyone has information that would assist in locating and safely taking Myles and Damien Sanderson into custody, we urge you to call police.”

“As Canadians, we mourn with everyone affected by this tragic violence, and with the people of Saskatchewan. We also wish a full and quick recovery to those injured,” Trudeau said in a statement Sunday evening.

As the manhunt continues, here’s what we know.

How did the attacks unfold?

Police received the first report of a stabbing on the James Smith Cree Nation at 5:40 a.m., and within minutes several more calls came in reporting other stabbings throughout the community, police said.

Within hours, the situation developed into a mass stabbing event with at least 25 victims, 10 of whom died, police said.

Three helicopters from STARS Air Ambulance were dispatched to James Smith Cree Nation during the attack, company spokesperson Mark Oddan told CNN. The first crew to arrive jumped into triage the victims and the second aircraft brought a physician to help with triage and lead the emergency response, he said.

The helicopter crews took some victims to the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon and several other patients were brought to local hospitals by ground ambulances, Oddan said. He was not able to provide details on the patients or their conditions.

Multiple dangerous persons alerts were issued by police over the course of the morning, expanding across the Saskatchewan province and into neighboring Manitoba and Alberta.

Canadian Minister of Public Safety Marco Mendicino asked residents to take shelter.

“To everyone in Saskatchewan, especially those in proximity to the James Smith Cree First Nation area, please shelter in place and stay safe,” he tweeted.

Authorities have identified 13 separate scenes where the attacks took place. There may be additional victims who were injured and transported themselves to the hospital, police said, urging possible victims to contact law enforcement.

“Our thoughts are with the many victims deceased and injured, their family, friends and community. It is horrific what has occurred in our province today,” Blackmore said.

Who are the suspects?

Less than three hours after the first attack was reported, police identified Damian Sanderson and Myles Sanderson as suspects in the stabbing spree.

Damien Sanderson, 31, is described by authorities as 5 feet 7 inches tall and 155 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Myles Sanderson, 30, is 6 feet 1 inch tall and 240 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes, according to police.

Officials haven’t said whether the pair are related.

The vehicle they were believed to be driving was reportedly spotted around 11:45 a.m. in Regina, police said. Regina is more than 300 kilometers (186 miles) south of the James Smith Cree Nation.

“This is why we need everyone in the province to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity by calling 911 immediately,” Blackmore said in a statement Sunday. “If you see the suspects and/or their vehicle, do not approach them or their vehicle, immediately leave the area, and call 911.”

In a message to the two suspects, Blackmore said, “If Damien and Myles are listening or receive this information, I would ask that they turn themselves into police immediately.”

The attacks have shaken Canadian residents and officials.

Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe offered his condolences to the people of the province in a tweet.

“There are no words to adequately describe the pain and loss caused by this senseless violence. All of Saskatchewan grieves with the victims and their families,” Moe wrote.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba are jointly investigating the stabbings.

“We are dedicating a maximum number of resources to this investigation,” Blackmore said.

Two emergency centers were set up to “provide health support” to the impacted communities, the leaders of the James Smith Cree Nation said in a statement.

In response to the stabbings, the Canadian Football League’s Saskatchewan Roughriders announced increased security personnel at their game against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers Sunday. The Roughriders play at the Mosaic Stadium in Regina.

“The Club operates a centralized command (center) on game day that allows immediate connection to local emergency services and the ability to receive up to the minute information when any sort of emergency occurs,” the team said in a statement on Twitter.

Texas Woman Scammed Men Out of Millions, Purchased Luxury Cars and Rolex Watches

Police say a Texas woman manipulated men into buying Rolex watches and fancy cars with the false intention that she was in love with them.

According to Rhode Island federal prosecutors, 31-year-old Dominique Golden participated in a conspiracy that scammed more than $2.6 million from men online.

Golden allegedly collected $1.26 million in cash, checks, money orders, and wire transfers and then deposited them into bank accounts opened under the names of fake people and businesses that she controlled, according to the office of U.S. Attorney Zachary Cunha.

The funds were used to purchase a 2018 Bentley Bentayga, a 2017 Mercedes E-Class, and three Rolex watches.

On Thursday, Golden pleaded not guilty to the charges and agreed to hand over her prized possessions along with two gold chains and three guns.

The US Attorney for the District of Rhode Island also requested that she give up more than $11,000 from her Houston home and the Bentley.

It was reported that Golden and her partners in the “romance scam” formed relationships with men online and on social media apps, where they convinced them to send money.

Prosecutors say that Golden opened various mailboxes and bank accounts under aliases to receive funds for her businesses.

Golden was cashing in for an entire year in 2018 until her guilty plea earlier this week. She is charged with a count each for conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud.
