Sarah Jessica Parker for Vogue US - December 2021!

Sarah Jessica Parker isn’t unfamiliar with the comments made about her on social media, and she’s ready to respond to those who want to discuss her age and looks.

Parker is Vogue’s December 2021 cover star and in her interview with the magazine, she discussed some of the negative commentary that surfaced on social media following the announcement of the "Sex and the City" sequel series, "And Just Like That…," which was centered around the ages of the three leading women. The series will follow Carrie Bradshaw (Parker), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) as they navigate life and love in New York City in their 50s.

"There’s so much misogynist chatter in response to us that would never. Happen. About. A. Man," Parker said. "'Gray hair gray hair gray hair. Does she have gray hair?’ I’m sitting with Andy Cohen and he has a full head of gray hair, and he’s exquisite. Why is it okay for him? I don’t know what to tell you people."

The actor said she especially has a hard time grappling with the commentary on social media because "everyone has something to say," specifically citing the dichotomy of being criticized for having too many wrinkles - or for not having any at all.

"It almost feels as if people don’t want us to be perfectly okay with where we are, as if they almost enjoy us being pained by who we are today, whether we choose to age naturally and not look perfect, or whether you do something if that makes you feel better," she said. "I know what I look like. I have no choice. What am I going to do about it? Stop aging? Disappear?"

Parker, 56, also took a moment to reflect on her decadeslong friendship with the late Willie Garson, who passed away in September at 67 from pancreatic cancer. Parker described the loss of her on-screen and off-screen best friend "as if a scoop has been taken out of me," explaining that she never expects the wound to fully heal.

"In time, my body will grow accustomed to this new architecture, but now I feel truly blue," she said. "It’s such a loss, and I think about how I’ll miss the joy of (our relationship). I think about Willie and the show and how much we laughed."

Despite everything that had transpired and the loss she suffered, Parker concluded, "There’s so much good in the world, and we were all so lucky to be together doing something we loved."

At the time of Garson’s death, Parker penned an emotional tribute to her late friend, describing his absence as "a crater."

Despite Parker’s many roles across film and television since the end of the show, none have entered the pop culture zeitgeist like Carrie Bradshaw. The glamorous New York City writer and fashionista has become iconic over the years as "Sex and the City" transformed into a television staple even after going off the air in 2004.

In June, Parker revisited the steps of the Carrie’s apartment, which were filmed outside of a brownstone on Perry Street in the West Village neighborhood of Manhattan. Over 20 years since the show came out and ahead of the "And Just Like That…" premiere, a look-alike version of Carrie’s Upper East Side apartment is available to rent on Airbnb. The unit is fully stocked with some of the character’s staples, including a closet that includes her endless shoe collection and the tulle tutu skirt, items which Parker has held onto all these years.

"I had all of the original stuff in my own storage," Parker told Vogue. "Furniture, clothes, everything, packed according to season and episode and scene. I kept every single solitary thing."

Though Parker teased a potential reboot (or as she called it, a "revisit) in 2019 in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, she said it was the pandemic that started to put everything in motion. She said she was speaking with Michael Patrick King, a director and writer for the original show and subsequent film adaptations, about doing a behind-the-scenes podcast about the making of the show.

"And we spoke about what we were missing in the pandemic: joy, community, the experience of being together," she recalled of their conversation. "The world of Carrie and her friends has always been about coming home, and I felt like we needed that right now."

#RHOP Reunion Part 1: Candiace Dillard Breaks Down Over Rift Between Her Mom and Husband Chris!

The four-part Real Housewives of Potomac reunion has commenced.  During part one, which aired Sunday night on Bravo, costars Gizelle Bryant, Karen Huger, Ashley Darby, Robyn Dixon, Candiace Dillard Bassett, Dr. Wendy Osefo and Mia Thornton all sat down with host Andy Cohen to rehash the season 6 drama.

Candiace's music video shoot from earlier in the season became a major talking point after launching the bitter, episodes-long feud between Candiace, 34, and Mia, 36. However, she revealed that it also caused serious contention between Candiace's husband, Chris Bassett, and her mom, Dorothy.

At the shoot, Dorothy began gossiping with Candiace's fellow cast members about Chris' role as his wife's "husbandger" (husband and manager) and implied that the couple were not financially stable.

When asked how Chris reacted to Dorothy talking "smack" when he watched the episode, Candiace told Cohen, 53, "I need a tissue."

He's really hurt," she said through tears. "And as a wife, I don't ever want to see my husband hurt, but especially not by my mom. It's really hard, like, I cussed my mom out in a way that I shouldn't have."

"Do you think your issues would be the same if you weren't on the show?" Robyn, 42, asked.

"No. I feel like my family is never going to be the same," Candiace replied, while Wendy, 37, commented, "Because of that incident? Oh my gosh."

"My in-laws watch the show and I'm going to be with my family and I feel like I don't belong there because my mom insulted my husband," Candiace continued. "I don't know what to do, like, I don't know how to fix it."

The conversation then turned to a past fight between Candiace and Mia, in which Mia called the music video "low budget" and Candiace clapped back with "Your mama's low budget" — a loaded comment for Mia who, unbeknownst to Candiace at the time, has opened up on the show about being placed in foster care as a child and having a strained relationship with her mother.

"If I knew that she had the trauma that she had, I would not have said that, I would have talked about something else," Candiace said at the reunion. "What I will say is, in the Black community, it's referred to as 'joning.' I was going light on you. And what happened was you were ungrateful."

"You saw that episode, and you thought to yourself, I was justified in all of this?" asked Gizelle, 51. "I did not feel like your actions towards her were justifiable."

"If I want to respond verbally, hello, welcome to the stage!" Candiace said. "That's what we do."

"Question, how's that working for you, honestly?" Cohen asked, adding, "How is the way that you respond to people working for you? You almost were physically attacked last year."

"So that's my fault that I was physically attacked?" Candiace replied, beginning to spar with the host.

"Well, you're the common denominator," he said.

"False. Everyone up here has a mouth, has said nasty disrespectful things to one another," Candiace said.

Candiace then returned to her feud with Mia, who was worried that her mom could relapse because of Candiace's comments about her.

"Can I also say that I have a humongous issue with Mia insinuating that if her mother were to relapse, that that would be on me?" Candiace said, while Wendy agreed, "I had an issue with that too."

"Facts are, you brought your mother onto this platform to parade her around for your storyline," Candiace told Mia. "If she relapses, that is on you. That's low and foul. You should be ashamed of yourself."

"No, I'm not," Mia responded. "My mother wanted to tell her story. You want to know why she wanted to tell her story? Because she wanted to inspire."

"Didn't seem like it," Candiace said.

"You would never understand," Mia said, though Candiace began talking over her as she continued.

"She's rude and she won't let me talk so f--- her," Mia said.

"Okay, f--- me," Candiace concluded.

Part two of the season 6 Real Housewives of Potomac reunion airs Sunday, Nov. 14, at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.

Kenyan Runners Albert Korir and Peres Jepchirchir Win 50th New York City Marathon!

The iconic New York City Marathon got underway in person on Sunday for the first time since it was cancelled last year and turned into a virtual event due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

via: People: Kenyan runners Albert Korir and Peres Jepchirchir took home gold in the men’s and women’s races, respectively, after completing the five-borough race on Sunday. Korir, 27, finished with a time of two hours, eight minutes, and 22 seconds, while Jepchirchir, 28, came in at two hours, 22 minutes, and 39 seconds.

Korir’s victory was a long time coming after he came in second place during 2019’s N.Y.C. Marathon, the last time the event was held before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jepchirchir is coming off her gold medal win at the Tokyo Olympics, where she came in first in the women’s marathon. She’s the first woman to win a marathon major in the fall after winning an Olympic gold medal.

Marcel Hug of Switzerland prevailed in the men’s wheelchair race for the fourth time, crossing the finish line 6½ minutes before the next racer, with a time of one hour, 31 minutes, and 24 seconds. After winning two gold medals and a bronze at the Tokyo Paralympics, Australia’s Madison de Rozario won the women’s wheelchair race, coming in at one hour, 51 minutes, and one second.

This year, 33,000 runners, including a variety of celebrities from television, movies, music, and sports, participated in the 50th running of the 26.2-mile race.

The race kicked off, as always, on Staten Island. Leaving the borough via the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, the race took runners through Brooklyn and then into Queens before reaching Manhattan. After a trip up into the Bronx, runners headed back down into Manhattan and finished in Central Park.

According to ABC 7 New York, to mark the 50th running of the marathon, several of the first finishers from the inaugural 1970 race were honored at the Opening Ceremony on Friday, and at the marathon finish line on Sunday.

“The TCS New York City Marathon has influenced and inspired so many people around the world for more than five decades, and to think it all started with 127 runners in Central Park is incredible,” New York Road Runners Vice President of Events and race director Ted Metellus said. “We are honored to bring back some of the First Finishers from the 1970 race.”

Notable entrants in this year’s race included Olympic gold medalist and FIFA women’s World Cup champion Abby Wambach; Ben Lovett and Marcus Mumford of Mumford & Sons; former NFL player Tiki Barber; Nev Schulman, host of MTV’s Catfish: The TV Show; Tayshia Adams of The Bachelorette fame; Adams’ fiancé, Zac Clark; former Bachelor star Matt James, and his friend and former Bachelorette contestant Tyler Cameron, to name a few.

Congrats to the winners and everyone who participated.

‘The Harder They Fall’ director explains why the N-word wasn’t in the movie’s script!

The Harder They Fall, the JAY-Z-produced Black western, was released in theaters and on Netflix Wednesday (Nov. 3) and it’s already getting rave reviews.

The movie, which features Regina King as “Treacherous Trudy” and Idris Elba as “Rufus Buck,” is a period piece that details a fictional encounter by real Black cowboys who actually existed. In a recent interview with Essence, director Jeymes Samuel explained why he chose not to have the characters say “n^gger” in the film.

“Just because it’s a period piece stop calling us niggas,” Samuel told the outlet. “It doesn’t give you license to call us niggas 100 times. Just because the story takes place in the 1800s shouldn’t give you license to make women subservient. When Nat Love says to Trudy Smith, ‘Where’s your boss?’ She goes, ‘Boss?” … Ain’t no subservience in this movie. We’re kings and queens on horseback.”

JAY-Z talks importance of Black representation in film at ‘The Harder They Fall’ world premiere

The director, who came up with the idea of the film over a decade ago, said despite Hollywood’s negative portrayals of darker-skinned Black people, he never “played into complexionism.”

Samuel also discussed the movie’s soundtrack, which he composed the score for, and wrote and produced all of the songs. “The music is a huge component of The Harder They Fall because, historically, I’ve always categorized Westerns by the type of music that plays in them,” he explained. “Back in the old days it was a fast-strum, guitar-type Western, then they moved on to the big orchestral type, then they moved on to the Italian’s installments in the Old West. Then we had Ennio Morricone’s score, that began what was known as Spaghetti Westerns. So I wanted to do something that would have its own signature.”

“Black people in the Old West, we never been in the Old West in full-Technicolor swag. Not like this. Obviously, there’s been portrayals of Black people in Old Western cinema before, but not like this. So without retreading any other musical tropes, I needed to make a statement, musically,” he continued. “I realized that Dub, which I grew up on—my parents are West Indian and African—so Dub and Dancehall and all that, even West African music, like Fela, is very cowboy in its aesthetic. So I got Barrington Levy to sing on the actual score. Then I called the Fisk Jubilee Singers from Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee…”

Mr. Olympia Shawn Rhoden Has Passed Away At 46 Years Old!

On Nov. 6, 2021, Ron Harris of Muscular Development posted a video to the outlet’s YouTube channel announcing the death of 2018 Mr. Olympia winner Shawn Rhoden. Rhoden was 46 years old. No cause of death has yet been revealed and details are minimal at the time of this article’s publication.

Rhoden is the fourth winner of the Mr. Olympia contest to pass away. Sergio Oliva Sr. died in 2012, Larry Scott passed away in 2014, and Franco Columbu died in 2019. Rhoden’s death is the latest in a long string of notable competitors to have passed on in 2021. His comes less than one month after the passing of 212 bodybuilder George Peterson, III, who died during the week of the 2021 Olympia in Orlando, FL.

According to Muscle Memory, Rhoden began competing in 1999 as an amateur. He won his pro card in 2009 at the IFBB North American event as a heavyweight. His pro debut was at the 2010 Europa Pro, where he placed 16th. He made his debut on the Olympia stage in 2011, where he placed 11th. His first pro win came at the 2012 Tampa Pro, which allowed him to compete in his first Olympia that year. He jumped eight placings to finish in third at that contest.

Throughout his career, he won seven professional contests. None was bigger than his 2018 Mr. Olympia effort which saw him defeat Phil Heath, who was attempting to tie the record for most Mr. Olympia titles (eight) with Lee Haney and Ronnie Coleman. Heath placed second in that contest. At the time of Rhoden’s victory, he was the oldest champion in the history of the competition, winning the title at the age of 43. He was two months older than the previous record holder, 1982 winner Chris Dickerson.

Rhoden hadn’t competed since his 2018 Olympia victory over then-champion Heath due to facing charges of sexual assault. Those charges were still pending and a court date had yet to be set due to issues regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.

In recent years, Rhoden lived in Las Vegas, NV, where he helped grow Muscle Beach Nutrition, a supplement company with which he was heavily involved. He also served as a mentor and coach to many competitors throughout the IFBB Pro League. Rhoden is survived by his daughter.

Billy Porter Apologizes To Harry Styles For Slamming His Vogue Cover!

Billy Porter is making amends. The “Pose” actor, who recently slammed Vogue and Harry Styles over the pop star’s groundbreaking appearance as the magazine’s first solo male cover star, is now saying sorry.

“Harry Styles, I apologize to you for having your name in my mouth,” the 52-year-old actor said on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” on Thursday.

“It’s not about you. The conversation is not about you. The conversation is actually deeper than that. It is about the systems of oppression and erasure of people of color who contribute to the culture.”

Added Porter, “I’m sorry, Harry. I didn’t mean no harm. I’m a gay man. We like Harry Styles, he’s cute!”

The “Watermelon Sugar” singer, 27, made headlines after donning a Gucci dress for the December 2020 edition of the fashion mag, winning raves from many — but not Porter, who’s been sporting gowns on red carpets for several years.

“I changed the whole game. And that is not ego, that is just fact. I was the first one doing it and now everybody is doing it,” Porter told The Sunday Times last month.

“I feel like the fashion industry has accepted me because they have to. I’m not necessarily convinced, and here is why: I created the conversation, and yet Vogue still put Harry Styles, a straight white man, in a dress on their cover for the first time.”

Continued Porter, “I’m not dragging Harry Styles, but he is the one you’re going to try and use to represent this new conversation? He doesn’t care, he’s just doing it because it’s the thing to do.”

The Tony winner said that for him, dressing in gender-fluid fashions is about far more than making a splash on the red carpet.

“This is politics for me. This is my life,” he said. “I had to fight my entire life to get to the place where I could wear a dress to the Oscars and not be gunned down. All he has to do is be white and straight.”

Joe Budden Appears To Come Out As Bisexual!

While Lil Nas X may be the most prominent LGBTQ figure in the hip-hop community, rapper and podcast host Joe Budden has also (possibly) come out as bisexual.

On an episode of his “Joe Budden” podcast last week, Budden came out as bisexual in a very non-ceremonious way. “I’m bisexual,” he simply said before continuing. “How do I spread this news? How do I spread the word? Yo, listen, I like guys and girls. Spread the word. I’m down.”

Budden has been linked to many women in the past, but until now, there had been no rumors of him being involved with men.

Some critics wondered if Budden was being sarcastic or trolling his fans on his podcast. However, he appeared to confirm his sexual orientation on Twitter, tweeting: “Ahhhhhhh, i see the word got out!! Continue to spread the word pls.”

The comments came during a discussion about a prominent LGBTQ advocacy group working on healing with rapper Da Baby following his comments that many called homophobic.

While many still questioned the rapper’s authenticity about his statement, his tweet was largely met with support on social media. Whether or not Budden was serious or not remains to be seen.

Terence Wilson Dies: ‘Astro’ In UK Reggae Band UB

Terence Wilson, a founding member of British reggae band UB40 who was best  known by his stage name, “Astro,” has died after a short illness, his current band confirmed.

“We are absolutely devastated and completely heartbroken to have to tell you that our beloved Astro has today passed away after a very short illness,” a statement on Ali Campbell and Astro’s Twitter account said on Saturday. “The world will never be the same without him.”

UB40 formed in Birmingham in the late 1970s, with Wilson a part of the group for more than 30 years. During his tenure, they had the hits “Red Red Wine” and “(I Can’t Help) Falling In Love.”

Wilson left the band to join breakaway group “UB40 featuring Ali Campbell and Astro” in 2013.

The band was a popular attraction on the club and shed level touring circuit. They dealt with social and political issues in their songs, something Wilson claimed to know well.

“I went through the same rigmarole as most black people in the late 70s,” Astro told The Guardian in May. “We found it harder to write love songs than militant lyrics, because it was a lot easier to write about stuff you had witnessed or read about. It seemed natural to us,” he said.

The current version of UB40 also noted Astro’s death on its social media.

“We have heard tonight, the sad news that ex-member of UB40, Terence Wilson, better known as Astro, has passed away after a short illness. Our sincere condolences to his family.”

Former Owner Of Gladys Knight’s Chicken and Waffles Sentenced To Prison For Failing To Submit Payroll Taxes!

Music legend Gladys Knight’s son was sentenced to two years in prison for failing to submit payroll taxes when he owned “Gladys Knight’s Chicken and Waffles” restaurant.

Shanga Hankerson was convicted in July on charges that he had not submitted over $1 million in payroll taxes owed to the government while running the restaurant chain.

“Hankerson willfully disregarded his tax obligations for many years,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Kurt Erskine. “Payroll taxes fund social insurance programs, including Social Security and Medicare, and are a large source of revenue for the federal government. Employers who fail to comply with their legal obligations will be held accountable.”

“While ownership of a well-known restaurant in our community has its perks, it also comes with great responsibility,” said IRS Criminal Investigation Special Agent in Charge James Dorsey. “Paying taxes is a way to give back to the community, but unfortunately Hankerson chose to use those funds for other means. This sentencing emphasizes that all employers, big and small, have equal responsibility to collect, report, and pay over their own payroll taxes.”

In June 2016, Georgia Department of Revenue agents raided the midtown Atlanta restaurant. Hankerson owed them more rgan $650,000 from his three Chicken and Waffles restaurants.

Knight allowed her son to use her name for the restaurants but was not involved with any of the daily operations, WBSTV reported.

However, a lawsuit forced him to remove her name shortly before the popular Chicken and Waffles shut down for good in 2017.

Authorities said because Hankerson was the sole owner of the eateries. He was supposed to collect those monies from at least 2012 through 2016. He did not collect them.

Hankerson was sentenced to two years in prison, one year of supervised release and has to repay $1,039,310.65.

Vin Diesel Pleads With Dwayne Johnson to Return to ‘Fast & Furious': ‘Fulfill Your Destiny’!

Actor, producer, director, screenwriter and stuntman Vin Diesel has put out a public plea to his “Fast & Furious” co-star Dwayne Johnson, asking him to play Luke Hobbs one more time to “fulfill my promise to Pablo [Paul Walker].”

On Sunday, Diesel posted a picture on Instagram of him and Johnson together in “The Fate of the Furious,” one of five “F&F” films that Johnson starred in starting with “Fast Five” in 2011 and ending with the spinoff “Hobbs & Shaw” in 2019. After that film, Johnson said he would not be returning for “Fast 10,” which is currently scheduled for an April 2023 release.

But now, in a post he addresses to “little brother Dwayne,” Diesel asks Johnson to reconsider and return for what he says will be the final “F&F” installment.

“My little brother Dwayne… the time has come. The world awaits the finale of Fast 10,” Diesel wrote. “As you know, my children refer to you as Uncle Dwayne in my house. There is not a holiday that goes by that they and you don’t send well wishes… but the time has come. Legacy awaits. I told you years ago that I was going to fulfill my promise to Pablo,” he said, referring to Paul Walker.

“I swore that we would reach and manifest the best Fast in the finale that is 10! I say this out of love… but you must show up, do not leave the franchise idle you have a very important role to play. Hobbs can’t be played by no other. I hope that you rise to the occasion and fulfill your destiny.”

While “Fate of the Furious” was shooting, Johnson made social media posts throwing shade at some of his male co-stars, with TMZ claiming via anonymous sources that the posts came from Johnson’s frustration with Diesel’s decisions as a producer on the film.

“Some conduct themselves as stand-up men and true professionals, while others don’t,” Johnson wrote on Instagram. “The ones that don’t are too chicken s— to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses. When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling — you’re right.”

And, with that, Johnson said, “I wish them well on ‘Fast 9.’ And I wish them the best of luck on Fast 10 and Fast 11 and the rest of the ‘Fast & Furious’ movies they do that will be without me.”

Unfortunately, Johnson looks like he has already loaded up his schedule for 2022. Next year, he is set to star in the DC films “Black Adam” and “League of Super Pets,” and his production company Seven Bucks is loading up on titles to develop, including a “Big Trouble in Little China” sequel that Johnson’s production partner Hiram Garcia says they are hoping to start soon. There’s been no word yet on when Universal will start production on “Fast 10,” which will be directed by Justin Lin.

Big Bird Confirms He Got the Coronavirus Vaccine!

Big Bird is getting vaccinated amid the coronavirus pandemic. The iconic Sesame Street muppet revealed on social media on Saturday (November 6) that he received the vaccine.

“I got the COVID-19 vaccine today!” he said in his first tweet since March.

“My wing is feeling a little sore, but it’ll give my body an extra protective boost that keeps me and others healthy.”

“Ms. @EricaRHill even said I’ve been getting vaccines since I was a little bird. I had no idea!” he added, referring to the CNN journalist, who joined Big Bird and Dr. Sanjay Gupta for the The ABCs of Vaccines Town Hall hosted by CNN and Sesame Street that morning

Columbia University Evacuated Campus Buildings Over Bomb Threat!

Columbia University had to evacuate two campus buildings on Sunday after the school received a bomb threat. It was one of four received at an Ivy League school over the weekend.

Officials at Cornell University and Brown University also evacuated portions of their campuses due to bomb threats, the New York Post reported.

Two days before, Yale University was forced to temporarily shut down parts of its campus for the same reason.

WCAU-TV reporter Tyler Dumont tweeted that Brown University was clearing out some campus buildings “following a bomb threat.”

Hours earlier, Cornell did the same. “Cornell ALERT,” the school said on Twitter. “Law enforcement is on-site and investigating a campus bomb threat. The security perimeter is in place. Continue to avoid central campus.”

Authorities have not announced a link to the threats that have targeted the Ivy League schools.

A spokesperson for Yale University said it received a bomb threat on Friday.

On Sunday, Columbia spokeswoman Caroline Adelman said they also received a threat at its Manhattan university.

“We’ve only been notified by a text,” Adelman told The Post. “It mentions two buildings that are being evacuated and warns people to stay away.”
