Halle Berry Covers Women's Health

Halle Berry covers the December issue of Women’s Health. Fresh off her directorial debut, the Oscar-winning actress talks all about her latest mixed martial arts film “Bruised”, which was released today.

Berry also stars in “Bruised” as an MMA fighter. The actress trained intensely for the role, boosting her weight-training routine and learning five versions of mixed martial arts. She challenged herself to the point of breaking two ribs during a filmed fight scene with UFC champion and co-star Valentina Shevchenko.

Berry’s character was originally written for a 25-year-old white woman, but the 55-year-old actress convinced producer, Basil Iwanyk, to reimagine her character. “I felt it was more powerful for a middle-aged woman of colour to have a last chance. The stakes were higher,” Berry told Women’s Health.

It was Berry’s vision to challenge the film’s story that allowed her to add director to her resume.

“When I realized I couldn’t find a director who saw this story like I saw it, I had a moment of reckoning. I finally realized that at this point in my life, I was ready. I had to take control. I said, ‘Okay, I’m going to work harder than I’ve ever worked,’ ” she said.

And for Berry, the hard work paid off.

“One of the biggest compliments I got in the whole process was when we were shooting scenes and the referee who called Valentina’s fights in real life said, ‘That last take, I thought I was watching a real Valentina fight!’ And for me, that was the moment that all this training, all this work, having a real fighter, paid off. Everybody warned me at first that a real fighter is going to kill you. She’s going to demolish you. I was like, ‘Well, then let’s go.’ To her credit, she didn’t. She learned how to pull her punches. And she did the movie fighting as well as any stuntwoman, and she’d never done it a day in her life.”

"To be the age I am and push my body to its limits reminded me that age is just a number," @halleberry tells WH. "We can control how we define ourselves, and I've never been healthier and felt stronger. This movie helped me realize that." pic.twitter.com/hdpPpgbKj4

Aside from being each other’s opponents on-screen, Berry and Shevchenko share a bond off-screen. “I feel like we’ve been through a fire together. There was a lot of pressure on me to get my part right. But when you have a partner pulling for you, and you’re both scared but want this so badly, you have a closeness. I will love her forever,” Berry said.

Working on “Bruised” was a “totally empowering” experience that the actress didn’t know she needed.

“I’m at my best when I have to work hard and when I’m facing challenges… To be the age I am and push my body to its limits reminded me that age is just a number. We can control how we define ourselves, and I’ve never been healthier and felt stronger. This movie helped me realize that.”

The film sees a very strong-abled Berry that took her on a fitness-frenzy but the actress enjoys living a healthy lifestyle even when she’s not working. “It’s not easy. But I always remind myself why I’m doing it. Since I had [kids] a little later in life, I want to be here for them. I want to live as long as I can and see my grandbabies,” the actress said.

Berry also commented on how she encourages her kids to be strong-willed. “I’m trying to teach them to march to the beat of their own drum. Be true to themselves, and not be followers, but be leaders and innovators.”

And what better role model to have than the strong-willed actress herself! Berry’s efforts made a breakthrough in “Bruised” and are sure to have an impact on the next wave of Black creatives in Hollywood.

“All I can do is hopefully inspire and pass the ball to those coming behind me. The greatest compliment I ever get is when someone says, ‘Because you did something, it inspired me to do something else.’ That makes my heart burst,” the actress told WH.

Berry talks more about her kids, living a healthy lifestyle, seeking therapy, and her relationship with Shevchenko in her December cover issue of Women’s Health. The magazine hits newsstands on Nov. 23.

“Bruised” is now streaming on Netflix.

Julius Jones death row sentence commuted, changed to life without parole

After spending the past 20 years fighting for his life on death row, Julius Jones' sentence was commuted to life without the possibility of parole hours before he was scheduled to be executed, according to the Oklahoma governor's office.

"After prayerful consideration and reviewing materials presented by all sides of this case, I have determined to commute Julius Jones' sentence to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole," Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt said in a statement released Thursday.

Last week, a federal appeals court rejected Jones' final appeal, which meant the decision to spare his life lay only with Stitt, who accepted the parole board's recommendation to grant Jones clemency. Jones' execution date was slated for Nov. 18.

In September, the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board recommended Stitt commute Jones' sentence to life in prison with the possibility of parole. Stitt said at the time he was waiting for a clemency hearing to make a decision.

Nearly two months later, on Nov. 1, the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board voted to recommend clemency for Jones in a 3-1 favor.

"Nightline" spoke to Jones' family in September following the parole board's recommendation to commute Jones' death sentence. Jones' mother, Madeline Davis-Jones, said the parole board's decision had given the family hope in the eleventh hour.

Antoinette Jones said in September that her brother was calm when he heard the parole board's recommendation.

"He said, 'I'm good. I'll be even better when I get out and I can hug y'all and we can start helping change the world,'" Antoinette Jones said.

Julius Jones was 19 years old when he was arrested for the 1999 murder of Oklahoma businessman Paul Howell, and sentenced to death in 2002. What followed were decades of public scrutiny and relentless work from his legal team.

Jones, 41, has spent most of his life behind bars. Before he was in prison, friends and teachers knew him as a champion high school basketball player who attended the University of Oklahoma on an academic scholarship.

That all changed in 1999 when Howell, 45, was shot in his family's driveway after a car-jacking in the wealthy suburb of Edmond, Oklahoma.

Antoinette Jones and Madeline Davis-Jones sat down with ABC News' JuJu Chang.

Howell's GMC Suburban went missing and his sister, Megan Tobey, was the only eyewitness.

"Megan Tobey described the shooter as a young Black man wearing a red bandana, a white shirt and a stocking cap or skullcap. She was not able to identify the shooter's face because it was covered," Bass told ABC News in 2018.

Two days after Howell was killed, police found his Suburban parked in a grocery store parking lot. They learned later that a man named Ladell King had been offering to sell the car.

King named Chris Jordan and Julius Jones to investigators and said the two men had asked him to help them sell the stolen Suburban.

"Ladell was interviewed by the lead detectives in this case. He told the police that on the night of the crime, a guy named Chris Jordan comes to his apartment. A few minutes later, according to Ladell King, Julius Jones drives up," attorney Dale Baich told ABC News in 2018.

Julius Jones' sister Antoinette Jones spoke to "Nightline."

King accused Jordan of being the driver and claimed that he and Jones were looking for Suburbans to steal, but it was Jones who shot Howell.

"Both Ladell King and Christopher Jordan were directing police's attention to the home of Julius Jones' parents as a place that would have incriminating items of evidence," Bass said.

Investigators found a gun wrapped in a red bandana in the crawl space of Jones' family home. The next day, Jones was arrested for capital murder.

Jones' attorneys say the evidence police found could have been planted by Jordan. They say Jordan had stayed at Jones' house the night after the murder, but Jordan denied those claims during the trial.

In the years since, Jones' defense team has argued that racial bias and missteps from his then-public defense team played a role.

Jones' team submitted files to the parole board that they said proved his innocence, including affidavits and taped video interviews with inmates who had served time in prison with Jordan. They said they allegedly heard Jordan confess to Howell's murder.

In a statement to ABC News in September, Jordan's attorney, Billy Bock, said: "Chris Jordan maintains his position that his role in the death of Paul Howell was as an accomplice to Julius Jones. Mr. Jordan testified truthfully in the jury trial of Mr. Jones and denies 'confessing' to anyone."

Jordan served 15 years in prison before he was released.

In 2020, Jones' story was thrown back into the spotlight when unlikely legal ally Kim Kardashian drew public attention to his case. Kardashian, who is studying to take California's bar exam, has been vocal on the issue of the death penalty and prison reform and has campaigned to free a number of men and women who were incarcerated.

"Kim Kardashian, I felt like may be one of my sorority sisters … she was down to earth," Davis-Jones said.

Julius Jones' mother Madeline Davis-Jones spoke to "Nightline."

Antoinette Jones said Kardashian put in the effort to help her brother.

"She sat down and she broke down my brother's case. That means that she actually did the work," Jones said. "She did the work to go back and check certain things, to point out certain things."

"The fact that she told me that she was able to go see my brother, it was almost like she took a piece of him and brought it to us and then we could feel like he was there with us," Jones added.

#RHOA: Porsha Williams Reveals She Spoke to Authorities About Her Own Experience with R. Kelly

Porsha Williams is opening up for the first time about her experience with R. Kelly, and why she wanted to share her story with investigators.

"I realized it was my opportunity to help anyone who's been hurt by him," she tells PEOPLE in this week's issue. "There had been so many other instances where I had been abused by men that my mentality [at that time] was of an abused person, and that it was okay for me to be treated like that."

After meeting a friend of the R&B singer in 2007, the future Real Housewives of Atlanta star, then 25 and considering a career in music, was flown to Chicago to meet Kelly and potentially work with him. Williams says she expected to be driven to a recording studio when she arrived but was taken to Kelly's home instead.

After an initial introduction to Kelly — who was found guilty of racketeering and sex trafficking in September — someone led Williams to his bedroom and left her alone there for hours. When Kelly finally joined her, she said he told her to take off her clothes. "I've already put myself in this position," she writes in her new memoir The Pursuit of Porsha, available Nov. 30. "This is what you're supposed to do. You have to. There is no turning back."

Kelly's lawyer Thomas A. Farinella declined to comment.

Williams saw Kelly two more times and says in her book that she encountered several young women who also were staying at his home. She writes that she decided not to see him again after she woke up one day and heard a woman being beaten in another room.

For years she kept it a secret, even from those she was closest to.

"It's not something you want to tell your mom, because my mom is a very strong woman and she did her very best in raising me," says Williams. "And I think for any woman or man who's been in an abusive situation, you don't want to tell your parents because you don't want them to think that they had let you down in any way. I don't want her to think that she had done anything wrong. And so I took it upon myself."

"But I was glad when I did, she was glad that I told her and we talked about it," Williams adds. "She told me some of her experiences. And we just talked about how this should be told so other women don't have to go through it."

The Pursuit of Porsha: How I Grew Into My Power and Purpose hits bookshelves on Nov. 30.

#HipHopNews: Rapper Young Dolph dead at 36 after Memphis bakery shooting

Rapper Young Dolph is dead after being shot and killed while visiting a bakery in his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee.

A representative for the artist, whose real name is Adolph Robert Thornton, Jr., told Variety in a statement that they are "shocked and deeply saddened by the sudden and tragic loss of our dear friend and client, Young Dolph."

"The world has lost an icon, a great man and beloved artist who has been taken too soon," it adds. "His dedication, drive, hard work and loyalty to all those around him always came first and he will be deeply missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this most difficult time."

The Memphis Police Department told Fox News Digital that officers responded to the scene of a shooting at Makeda’s Butter Cookies around 12:24 p.m. local time where they discovered a male victim who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rapper Young Dolph was shot and killed on Wednesday at a local cookie shop in Memphis, Tennessee.

Police said they have not yet identified a suspect at this time.

The department added in a statement posted to Twitter that Dolph's purported murder is "another example of the senseless gun violence we are experiencing locally and nationwide. Our hearts go out to the Thornton family and all who are affected by this horrific act of violence."

The prominent Memphis emcee, 36, was shot after he arrived at that popular bakery – which he frequented often and promoted on social media – when the alleged perpetrator drove up and then shot and killed him, the store's owner, Maurice Hill, told FOX 13 in Memphis.

Young Dolph’s Lamborghini sat in the parking lot of the bakery when FOX 13 crews arrived to the scene located in a South Memphis strip mall.

A local man in the immediate area across the street from the scene told Fox News Digital he heard what was believed to be gunshots ring at the strip mall where the bakery is located.

The gentleman said he heard about 25 shots fired in rapid succession followed by a pause in gunfire. The man then says he heard about five or 10 more shots.

"He pulled his Lamborghini up to the shop and they got him, man. They got him," the local said of the tragic shooting.

Another person was also with Dolph at the time of the shooting, FOX 13 reported, citing Memphis Police sources.

Despite Dolph being a huge presence in Tennessee, the independent performer and local philanthropist has been mired by potentially fatal run-ins in the past.

In September 2017, Dolph was shot in Los Angeles when he got into an altercation with three men outside the Loews Hollywood Hotel.

The broad daylight attack occurred in the heart of the tourist area around the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and North Highland Avenue

In February of that year, Dolph was in an SUV in Charlotte, North Carolina, when the vehicle came under gunfire. Three people were later arrested in May in connection with the shooting.

Dolph released an album in April of that year, titled, "Bulletproof," that referenced the shooting in Charlotte. It peaked at No. 28 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

FOX 13 reported a massive crowd gathering around the perimeter near the scene with some people lying on the ground in tears.

"The tragic shooting death of rap artist Young Dolph serves as another reminder of the pain that violent crime brings with it," Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland said in a statement to The Associated Press. "My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

Dolph was reportedly set to pass out turkeys at St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Memphis this Friday.

Rockmond Dunbar ‘9-1-1’ Actor Leaves Hit Series Over Vaccine Mandate

It looks like the drama series ‘9-1-1’ is down a cast member over COVID vaccine regulations.

Actor Rockmond Dunbar, 48, was written off of the popular Fox first-responders series ‘9-1-1’ for not receiving the COVID vaccine. Rockmond Dunbar has been a part of the show since its premiere in 2018 and he portrays Michael Grant, who is the ex-husband of Angela Bassett’s character Athena Grant. Rockmond Dunbar’s last appearance on the show was during Monday night’s (Nov. 15) episode.

‘9-1-1’ is produced by Disney TV Studios’ 20th Television, which requires all actors involved in their productions to be vaccinated. According to reports, Rockmond Dunbar requested a medical COVID exemption and later a religious exemption from the network. Both were reportedly reviewed by Disney but were ultimately denied. Despite not receiving the COVID vaccine, Dunbar is not believed to be an anti-vaxxer.

The ‘Prison Break’ actor released a statement confirming his exit from the show.

“I applied for religious and medical accommodations pursuant to the law and unfortunately was denied by my employer. My sincerely held beliefs and private medical history are very intimate and personal aspects of my life that I do not publicly discuss and have no desire to start now. I’ve been an actor in this business for 30 years, but my greatest roles are as a husband and father to our 4 small children. As a man that walks in faith, I look forward to what the future holds.I have enjoyed the last 5 seasons with this wonderful cast and crew and will cherish the time I’ve been blessed to spend with this series and wish everyone involved nothing but the best.“

A spokesman for 20th Television also released a statement and said,

“We take the health and safety of all of our employees very seriously and have implemented a mandatory vaccination confirmation process for those working in Zone A on our productions. In order to ensure a safer workplace for all, Zone A personnel who do not confirm their vaccination status and do not meet the criteria for exemption will not be eligible to work.”

According to reports, ‘9-1-1’ producers purposely left Dunbar’s character storyline open-ended just in case the vaccination issue is resolved and the actor is able to return to the series.

What are your thoughts on this entire situation?

Former Kappa Alpha Psi exec is charged with embezzling $3M to feed a gambling habit

When confronted, Curtis D. Anderson, the fraternity's former finance director, allegedly told his bosses he had spent most of the missing money at Harrah's Casino.

The Kappa Alpha Psi International Headquarters, on the 2300 block of North Broad Street in Philadelphia.

Federal authorities have charged a former executive of one of the nation’s largest Black fraternities with embezzling nearly $3 million — money they say he stole to support a gambling habit.

Curtis D. Anderson, 58, of Claymont, Del., had been employed for more than two decades as the finance director for Kappa Alpha Psi, which has its international headquarters on North Broad Street in Philadelphia.

He was fired in December 2018, after fraternity officials discovered the missing money and confronted him about his alleged theft. Anderson then confessed, according to court filings in the case, telling his bosses he was struggling with gambling and drinking addictions and had spent most of the funds at Harrah’s Casino.

Attempts to reach Anderson on his cell phone Thursday were unsuccessful. His attorney, Brian J. Zeiger, said he was unaware that Anderson had admitted to anyone that he had stolen the funds.

“I’m not disputing it per se, but the government has not told me that,” he said. Though, he added: “We have voluntarily participated in the investigation.”

Federal prosecutors did not specifically name Kappa Alpha Psi in an indictment filed Wednesday, describing it instead as a “civic and social organization.” However, the organization’s role as the victim came to light last year when U.S. Postal Inspection Service investigators applied for a warrant to search Anderson’s former office.

Prosecutors said Anderson began pilfering from the fraternity’s funds in June 2012 through checks he either made out to himself or other individuals whose signatures he forged while exchanging them for cash. Santander Bank flagged the unusual transactions and alerted the fraternity in 2018.

When Kappa Alpha Psi’s executive director John Burrell and its then-president Thomas Battles went to the bank two days later to discuss the missing funds, they spotted Anderson ducking out of the branch, called him on his cell phone, and asked him to return.

Anderson immediately acknowledged he had taken the money, court filings say.

Burrell did not immediately respond to requests for comment Thursday. But in a statement last year, the fraternity director said Kappa Alpha Psi was cooperating with the federal investigation and “an employee” had been fired after the discovery of financial “irregularities.”

Burrell also said at the time that the fraternity was conducting an internal review of its financial operations to prevent similar situations in the future.

Anderson faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted on the most serious of the counts of wire fraud and aggravated identity theft with which he was charged Wednesday.

“Embezzlement is theft, that’s the bottom line,” said U.S. Attorney William M. McSwain in a statement. “Anderson held a senior position of trust with his employer, and allegedly used that access to steal the identities of his colleagues and millions of dollars. My office will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to protect innocent organizations from being victimized by this type of fraud.”

Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Won't Be Joining Queen Elizabeth for Christmas

There’s an update regarding the royals’ holiday plans. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle won’t be celebrating Christmas with Queen Elizabeth, Page Six reported Wednesday (November 17).

While an invitation has been extended for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to join the royals, the couple have no plans to return to the U.K. for the holidays, per multiple royal sources to the outlet.

“There’s a lot that goes into the logistics and the planning of the family Christmas, so of course, staff know that Harry and Meghan are not coming,” one royal source told Page Six.

“If they were, they would have communicated it to their family by now.

“But this is Her Majesty’s first Christmas without her husband, so one would have hoped they would want to be with her,” they added.

“I think everyone understands there will be a frenzy when they both come back to the UK, but they need to rip the [Band-Aid] off and get on with it.” the royal source added.

The Queen is traditionally joined at her country estate Sandringham by royals including Prince Charles, Camilla Parker-Bowles, Prince William and wife Kate Middleton, where they attend a church service.

Kim Kardashian Attempts To Stop Execution Of Oklahoma Man Accused Of 1999 Murder

Still at the forefront of prison reform, sentencing disparities and wrongful convictions, Kim Kardashian is again leading the fight in gaining a stay of execution for Julius Jones, an Oklahoma man scheduled for execution tomorrow(November 18). Jones maintains that he is innocent of any crime.

Earlier this month, the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board voted unanimously 3-1 to commute his death sentence to life in prison with the possibility of parole, which was also recommended back in September at a board hearing. Gov. Kevin Stitt will make a final decision before Jones’ execution date.

Jones is on death row for the 1999 murder of Paul Howell, who was shot and killed in front of his sister and two young daughters after buying ice cream. Jones contends that that he was set up by the actual shooter, whom he knows.

Kardashian, who has been seeking clemency for Jones since 2019, took to Twitter, saying, “Julius, his family and everyone on his team are still hopeful Stitt will do the right thing. Today Julius’ family and close friends received invites to his execution. I can’t even imagine how they all must be feeling right now.”

Brandy’s daughter Sy'Rai Smith, 19, thought famous mom was 'embarrassed of me' prior to weight loss

Brandy's daughter, Sy'Rai Smith, is opening up about her recent weight loss and her struggles with body image.

During a recent episode of The Real, the 19-year-old admitted that she compared her body to her famous mother's prior to her weight loss, which led to many heartbreaking assumptions.

"Sometimes it was a little bit difficult, you know, seeing my mom dress a certain way or wear a certain thing. Or when she was on [the red] carpet, or I’d see her on set, or anything like that, it was kind of difficult ‘cause it was like, you know, ‘Why am I not that way? Why am I not that size? Why was I made the way I was made?’" Smith recalled. "And sometimes I would feel a little sad, or I would feel like she was embarrassed of me. These were all insecurities in my head and, you know, she was never like that, she was always supportive. She always knew that I was beautiful. She supported whether I wanted to lose a lot of weight or not."

Smith revealed that she made lifestyle changes after facing several health challenges, but it was not easy. Her motivation to live and the guidance of her family helped her get through it.

"I changed my mindset, changed my mentality and I knew that being in the body that I was in, I knew my life wasn’t going to be as long. I knew I had so many issues with my health and I just knew that living my purpose, I wouldn’t be able to live in that body … so I just really took time and thought to myself I really want to be there for my little sisters, my little brothers, I wanna be there for my mom, my dad [her father is Brandy's ex-husband, music producer Robert "Big Bert" Smith], and I was like I need to change like now," she continued.

In the age of social media, Smith admitted that she too has struggled with trying to attain that "Instagram body" that led to her becoming obsessed with the number on the scale and feelings of insecurity. She also noted that the being in the spotlight also heightened those feelings

"When I look at other women and I know my body’s been through a lot," Smith said. "And I always have to remind myself of that, you know, all the scars that I have, the stretch marks that I have, everything that my body’s been through, it’s for a purpose, it’s for a reason. … I do feel the pressure. People have their eyes on me at all times, people have their eyes on mom all the time, so I did feel pressured to kind of quickly do it."

New York D.A. Will Move To Vacate Convictions Of Two Men In Killing Of Malcolm X; Case Was Focus Of Netflix Docuseries

New York District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. will move to vacate the convictions of two men for the assassination of Malcolm X in 1965, his office said on Wednesday.

The announcement of the exoneration of Muhammad A. Aziz and Khalil Islam, first reported in The New York Times, follows a recent Netflix docuseries on the 56-year-old case, Who Killed Malcolm X?

Abdur-Rahman Muhammad, a historian who has long investigated the case and was a central figure in the docuseries, wrote on Twitter, “As a result of our Netflix series ‘Who Killed Malcolm X?,’ tomorrow the US history books will be rewritten when two men wrongfully convicted for the assassination of Malcolm X will be exonerated after 55 years, a historic milestone!!” Vance’s office had been reviewing the case for almost two years, as the documentary uncovered new evidence.

Aziz and Islam each spent more than 20 years in prison for the murder of the civil rights leader. Another man who was convicted, Mujahid Abdul Halim, was not exonerated. He confessed to the killing during the trial, but has said that the two other men were innocent. Halim was granted parole in 2010.

Aziz was released on parole in 1985, and Islam two years later. Islam died in 2009.

Vance’s investigation was conducted with the Innocence Project and attorney David Shanies.

“These men did not get the justice that they deserved,” Vance told the Times.

Malcolm X was assassinated on Feb. 21, 1965, while he was delivering a speech at the Audubon Ballroom in New York City. He had been in conflict with the Nation of Islam, the group that he had left and later renounced. Halim later named four other men who he said took part in the murder, but Aziz and Islam were rejected in their appeals as they served their sentences.

‘Rust’ Script Supervisor Files Lawsuit Stating Scene Did Not Call For Shooting, Alec Baldwin

According to lawsuits filed Wednesday by the script supervisor of the film ‘Rust’’, Alec Baldwin “intentionally” shot a gun toward cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the movie set. Reports say Baldwin disregarded the set’s protocol in the fatal shooting.

Mamie Mitchell, the script supervisor who filed the lawsuit is suing Baldwin, the movie production corporation, and others for assault, intentional infliction of sentimental distress, and intentional infliction of injury. Mitchell and her attorney, Gloria Allred, are set to confirm the suit during a press release.

“Alec Baldwin intentionally, without just cause or excuse, cocked and fired a loaded gun even though the upcoming scene to be filmed did not call for the cocking and firing of a firearm,” Mitchell claimed in the lawsuit.

She also revealed every protection procedure designed to guarantee safety with a firearm on set was disobeyed, such as the existence of live bullets being on set, and that “actions that were taken” that day “were against all industry norms.”

In the complaint, Mitchell said Baldwin, “being an industry veteran,” should have known that a prop master or an armorer is the only person who should hand him a gun. Mitchell said the assistant director should not have handed Baldwin the gun, and that the actor should’ve known that he could not rely on the assistant director’s representation that it was a “cold gun.”

“The events that led to the shooting by Mr. Baldwin of a loaded gun constituted intentional acts and/or omission, without any just cause or excuse, on Alec Baldwin’s part or the Producers of ‘Rust,’” the complaint said.

“Mr. Baldwin chose to play Russian Roulette with a loaded gun without checking it and without having the Armorer do so. His behavior and that of the Producers on ‘Rust’ were intentional acts and/or omissions. The fact that live ammunition was allowed on a movie set, that guns and ammunition were left unattended, that the gun in question was handed to Mr. Baldwin by the Assistant director who had no business doing so, the fact that safety bulletins were not promulgated or ignored, coupled with the fact that the scene in question did not call for a gun to be fired at all, makes this a case where injury or death was much more than just a possibility — it was a likely result.”

Dave Chappelle Is Unbothered By Former High School Canceling His Fundraiser

Dave Chappelle is unphased by his former high school canceling a fundraiser event honoring him.

The comedian was visiting Indianapolis Friday night for a screening of his “Untitled” documentary. Chappelle performed a 15-minute stand-up afterward, where he poked fun at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts for canceling the function that was raising funds for a new theater named after him.

“They’re canceling stuff I didn’t even want to do,” he joked. “If you think you’re mad at me, remember, I didn’t disinvite you from anything.”

His comments come as the Washington, D.C. arts school pulled the plug on the fundraiser following his harmful LGBTQ jokes in his Netflix special, “The Closer.” The event, which was initially scheduled for November 23rd, was met with immediate outrage from students who did not feel Chappelle should be celebrated after making such offensive jokes. They even threatened to stage a walkout if the school went through with the fundraiser.

The backlash from “The Closer” continues to plague the 48-year-old actor, who recently revealed that film festivals refused to show his new documentary. Despite the outrage and Netflix employees boycotting the special, the platform has stated multiple times that they will not remove it.

“QAnon Shaman” Receives 41 Months In Prison For Capitol Riot

An Arizona man known as “QAnon Shaman” who became the face of the Capitol riot has just been sentenced to 41 months in federal prison.

“QAnon Shaman,” whose real name is Jacob Chansley, learned his fate on Wednesday. U.S. District Court Judge Royce C. Lamberth slammed the rioter in court, calling his acts “horrific.”

“You made yourself the epitome of the riot,” Lamberth said to Chansley during sentencing. The judge also ordered Chansley to pay $2,000 in restitution and serve three years of supervised release.

The 34-year-old was among the thousands who swarmed the Capitol on January 6th to protest Joe Biden winning the 2020 presidential election. However, Chansley remains one of the most notable radicals, being photographed multiple times that day in face paint wearing a horned headdress as he marched holding an American flag and bullhorn. He was captured on film entering the Senate floor and scaling the chamber’s dais.

In September, Chansley pleaded guilty to a single charge of felony obstruction of an official proceeding. He called his actions that day “indefensible” but maintained that he was not a threat to society.

“I am not a violent man or a white supremacist. I am truly repentant,” he insisted. Chansley also told the court that he suffered from a personality disorder and is on the autism spectrum, which contributed to his actions that day. His attorney also argued that his mental challenges should be taken into consideration before sentencing.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Kimberly Paschall said that Chansley posted several messages on social media calling for his followers to “expose corrupt politicians” in the months leading up to the attack.
