Danai Gurira Talks The Walking Dead to Entertainment Weekly!
Tough yet vulnerable. Graceful, but lethal. Danai Gurira made a splashy entrance as The Walking Dead character, Michonne, in Season 3. On screen, she was able to beautifully bring to life all of the complexities of the character. But to the dismay of fans, The Walking Dead will say goodbye to Michonne in Season 10. With that in mind, Danai Gurira spoke with Entertainment Weekly about her last day on set, what message she wants to leave with fans, and what’s next for her.
Gurira’s last day on the set of The Walking Dead was on the Fourth of July. She told Entertainment Weekly about some surprises on the eve of her final shoot day that the cast and crew delivered to mark the bittersweet occasion. The actress described a firework display that Norman Reedus organized for her as “really beautiful.”

Gurira also revealed that the celebration included a specialty cake that was decorated in Michonne’s image, katana, and all. In the interview, she reflected, “There was just such a free flow of love, and that’s kind of what sticks with me the most about that.”
Gurira’s on-set experiences with her colleagues parallel Michonne’s arc on The Walking Dead with the core group of survivors. On the show, Michonne was welcomed into a tight-knit group of allies with a shared history. Likewise, Gurira stepped into a television production environment in which the cast and crew had existing relationships before she arrived.
Similar to Michonne, Gurira became a vital part of the team. Another snippet from EW (below), shows the actress reflecting on the family-like culture that she enjoyed while shooting the show.
In a clip posted by EW, Gurira conveyed her sincere appreciation to the viewers, cast, and crew of The Walking Dead.
“To all those out there who have shown love and support to the show, The Walking Dead, over the years, I just want to express so much love and thanks to you.”

Gurira went on to describe the bonds that the cast and crew have formed during the production of the show. She described leaving the show as a “heartbreaking thing because it’s such a beautiful family.”
Of the Michonne character, Gurira said, “Playing Michonne has been one of the greatest blessings of my life. And I have deeply learned from her, and grown with her, and adored how I have been challenged by her and the amazing relationships I got to form with her and through her. And I will not just miss her, but her weapon.”
Gurira concluded the video by offering thanks and a final goodbye to the fans, her colleagues, and Michonne.
Gurira plugs the power of the pen
Now that Gurira has said her final farewell to The Walking Dead, she told EW that she is focusing on writing full-time. She is the creator of the new television series, Americanah, which is based on a novel of the same name.

The series stars Lupita Nyong’o, Tireni Oyenusi, Uzo Aduba, Zackary Momoh, and The Walking Dead alum Corey Hawkins. Americanah is currently in production and will stream on HBO Max.

#RHOA: NeNe Leakes Curses at RHOA Producer While Fleeing from Filming: 'I'm Not Doing This'!
NeNe Leakes got into an argument with an unlikely foe on Sunday’s episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta: her producer.
During a cast trip to Greece, the reality star and mother of two, 52, clapped back at one of RHOA‘s producers, whom she appeared to believe was trying to to stop her as she stormed away from filming.
“Listen, who the f— do you think you are?” Leakes demanded. “Like, you ain’t going to guard me and tell me what to do!”

Leakes’ costars Kandi Burruss and Cynthia Bailey had been attempting to patch things up between her and longtime rival Kenya Moore, doing a role-playing dramatization of their ongoing feud. But Leakes wasn’t at all interested in sitting through that.
“I ain’t got time to listen to this bulls—. I don’t give a damn,” Leakes said. “I don’t have to be here for it. Let me mind my business, let me go to the bathroom.”

As she stormed away from the gathering, a producer asked Leakes if she’s “leaving or going to the restroom?” — which inspired Leakes to go off.
“I’m going in the house. Listen, don’t f— with me,” she yelled. “I’m for real.”
“Don’t play games with me,” Leakes added. “I’m going to my room and I’m getting ready to pack and go home. I don’t have time for the playing the games.”
Leakes went on to tell audiences, “I’m not doing this. I’m getting ready to leave and go to the bathroom and I might flush myself down the toilet. Bye.”

Meanwhile, prior to Leakes’ storm-off on Sunday’s RHOA, she got into a war of words with Moore. The argument reached its peak when Leakes nearly spit on Moore.
Eventually, things calmed down, and Leakes apologized to Moore for insulting her last season, when she asked if the then-pregnant Moore was “going to have a buffalo.”
Though it appeared to Moore that Leakes was calling her daughter a buffalo, Leakes insisted the insult was directed toward Moore.
“I called you a buffalo, I didn’t call your baby nothing,” Leakes said. “Let me tell you something, if I called you a buffalo and it hurt you, I apologize because I’d never want to hurt another woman. I never called your baby anything and I was mad with you. And I apologize if to you ever felt like I was talking, cause I don’t do that to kids.”
“Honestly, I would never say anything where her child is concerned. But when you’re beefing you say all kind of stuff about each other. I didn’t even realize I had said that,” Leakes added.

Moore wasn’t ready to accept Leakes’s apology, telling her and the rest of her RHOA castmates, “It’s done, it’s done. I will never need to go on about it again.”
Since then, the two have remained on opposite sides, blasting each other in the press.
“I always say, ‘never say never.’ I rarely say never, but my feelings are really strong on this one,” Moore said during a visit to PEOPLE TV’s Reality Check in November. “I can get along with anyone. I can be cordial to anyone, in any circumstance. But that one is a long time coming.”

“[Kenya’s] a monster,” Leakes told PEOPLE in March. “She’s mean. She plays dirty. She hits below the belt. And I don’t think it’s necessarily to make great television for reality … I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; I think she’ll be the demise of the franchise in Atlanta. I don’t think people like her. I think they like the car wreck that she is but a lot of people, they don’t like her.”

The Real Housewives of Atlanta airs Sundays (8 p.m. ET) on Bravo.

Disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein tests positive for coronavirus, reports say!
Disgraced movie producer and convicted rapist Harvey Weinstein tested positive for the coronavirus in a New York prison, according to published reports Sunday.
Weinstein was being held at the Wende Correctional Facility in upstate New York after being transferred from New York City’s Rikers Island jail to serve 23 years in state prison for the sexual assault of two women.
The 68-year-old tested positive for the contagious respiratory illness Saturday, the New York Post reported, citing a source briefed on the matter.

The Niagara Gazette first reported Weinstein’s test result earlier on Sunday. State officials told the newspaper that there were two inmates at the Wende prison who positive for coronavirus, but would not confirm Weinstein was sick.
A source told the New York Post that Weinstein was likely infected while being held at Rikers Island. New York City’s jail system has seen at least 38 inmates test positive, according to the Associated Press.

Representatives for Weinstein told the Post they did not have information about his condition.

Idris Elba’s Wife Sabrina Tests Positive For Coronavirus: I Wanted To Be With Him!
Idris Elba’s wife, Sabrina, has also tested positive for the coronavirus. Last week, the 47-year-old actor announced on social media that he had tested positive and had taken the test after being in contact with a person that also tested positive. That person is said to be Sophie Trudeau. He told his followers:

“I’m on location, about to start film and the news breaks that this person, who is also in the public eye, had tested positive. My job made me test immediately. I had to test because it meant putting a lot of people at risk who I was working with on a new film.”
Actually, I found out this morning, Oprah, that I tested positive. I’m not surprised. As soon as I heard that Idris was potentially exposed I was on my way anyway and I wanted to be with him. I think that’s an instinct as a wife you just want to go and take care. We didn’t change the way we interacted.

She added, I could have made a decision to put myself in a separate room or maybe stay away. I’m sure people are making those decisions, they’re tough decisions to make. But I made the decision to want to be with him and still touch him.
Idris Elba explained,“On the day of the exposure, we were together at home and had been together right until I had departed to fly. So at any point then, and prior to us knowing, if I’d caught it, she’d certainly have caught it in that time period as well.”

The pair are being quarantined in New Mexico.
What are your thoughts about this?

FDA Approves First “Point-Of-Care” Coronavirus Test That Can Give Rapid Results!
On Saturday, Cepheid, a molecular diagnostic company, received “emergency” approval from The Food and Drug Administration to administer the first rapid point-of-care test that will detect COVID-19. The test can deliver results in less than an hour.
According to People, the test is named SAR-CoV-2-Xpert Xpress and can detect the virus in 45 minutes. While the Silicon Valley-based company “has approved about a dozen other COVID-19 tests in response to the public health emergency caused by the coronavirus pandemic, this is the first one that can be used at the point-of-care.”

The newly approved test will be much more efficient. Before, health care workers would take a nasal swab and send it off to a lab where the process can likely take days to see a result. Now, detection can be done right inside a doctor’s office in approximately 45 minutes.

The need for on-demand tests is at an all-time high. “During this time of increased demand for hospital services, Clinicians urgently need an on-demand diagnostic test for real-time management of patients being evaluated for admission to health-care facilities,” said Dr. David Persing, chief medical and technology officer at Cepheid.

Cepheid said the tests will be available by the end of the month.

Trillion-dollar US economic rescue package crashes in Senate. Blocked by Democrats!
Washington (AFP) - A trillion-dollar Senate proposal to rescue the reeling US economy crashed to defeat Sunday after receiving zero support from Democrats, and with five Republicans absent from the chamber because of virus-related quarantines.
Democrats said the Republican plan failed to sufficiently protect millions of American workers or shore up the critically under-equipped health care system during the coronavirus crisis.
The bill proposed an estimated $1.7 trillion or more in funding to cushion the blow for American families and thousands of shuttered or suffering businesses.
Despite intense negotiations between Republicans, Democrats and President Donald Trump's administration, the roll call was 47-47, far short of the 60 votes needed to advance.

Five Republican senators are in self-quarantine and did not vote, including Senator Rand Paul, who announced Sunday he had tested positive for the COVID-19 illness.Even as infighting derailed the plan, lawmakers carried on with closed-door negotiations deep into Sunday hoping to get the package back on track.
Top Senate Democrat Chuck Schumer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin "are working late into the night, and they just had another productive meeting," a Schumer spokesman said.
The shock Senate result heaps major pressure on Congress to overcome divisions and swiftly greenlight a federal government intervention -- likely the largest of its kind in US history.

The impasse likely will have a profound effect on already-traumatized stock markets when they open Monday.
The futures on the main US stock exchange indicators were dropping around four percent or more, indicating that Wall Street could open sharply lower.
Hong Kong stocks plunged five percent upon opening.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell blasted the Democratic opposition and warned of economic devastation ahead if Congress does not act promptly.
"The notion that we have time to play games here with the American economy and the American people is utterly absurd," he fumed.
"We need to signal to the public that we're ready to get this thing done."

He said he wanted lawmakers to recognize "the need to act before the markets go down further and the American people become even more depressed about our lack of ability to come together under the most extraordinary circumstances."
Schumer insisted the bill falls well short of sufficiently protecting US employees, millions of whom are at risk of losing their jobs as the economy grinds to a halt, while offering a "large corporate bailout with no protections for workers and virtually no oversight."

He accused Republicans of trying to "skimp on funding" to address shortfalls for hospitals, equipment, medical personnel and other health care infrastructure.
Mnuchin, Trump's key representative in the negotiation, had expressed hope an agreement could be reached Sunday.
Speaking on Fox News earlier Sunday, he detailed a separate massive relief plan by US financial authorities that "will have up to $4 trillion of liquidity that we can use to support the economy."

Together, the urgent measures represented one of the most dramatic governmental rescue efforts outside wartime, with millions of people thrown out of work, thousands of businesses shuttered, travel severely curtailed and no certainty as to when things might improve.
The measures also came as the death toll and contagion confirmations continued to rise -- especially in hotspots like New York -- and several states including California, New York and Illinois effectively went into lockdown in a bid to halt the virus's spread.
"The worst is yet to come," New York Mayor Bill de Blasio said on CNN, predicting hospitals in the city would face serious shortages of protective equipment within days unless drastic action is taken.
"We expect April will be a lot worse than March, and I fear May could be worse than April," he said.

Mnuchin said the congressional rescue would give small businesses enough cash to pay laid-off workers for two weeks, provide direct cash payments to Americans -- about $3,000 for a family of four, he said -- and enhance unemployment insurance for those laid off.
Democrats have demanded stronger worker protections. Schumer has said he wants the government to pay full wages for four months to workers laid off due to the crisis.
Trump sounded a note of optimism, even as the Senate bill stalled.
"I think that the Democrats want to get there, and... the Republicans want to get there," he said.

The president also said the administration was "considering" the prospect of US lawmakers being allowed to vote remotely, a dramatic departure from current House and Senate rules that mandate all votes be conducted in person.
