The Daily Buzz For Feb 17 ☕📰☕

Gal Gadot is Rocking for WW-84 for Entertainment Weekly - March 2020!
The sequel to the hit 2017 live-action Wonder Woman adaption is finally set to arrive this summer.
Though most of the plot of Wonder Woman 1984 still under wraps, there’s certainly a lot to look forward to with director Patty Jenkins at the helm again, Gal Gadot in the leading role, and a killer supporting cast, to boot.
What we do know is that, time-wise, this film will be a far leap from the World War I setting of the previous one — instead taking place in the 80s. And the supposedly dead Steve Trevor will be making an appearance somehow, with Chris Pine reprising his role, though the nature of his return is yet unknown.
Our villains this time around will be businessman Max Lord (portrayed by a mustache-less Pedro Pascal) and Barbara Minerva (Kristen Wiig), who will eventually become the Cheetah.
In anticipation of the upcoming sequel, Entertainment Weekly has shared an exclusive collection of photos from the film. Make sure to pick up Entertainment Weekly’s March issue, which features Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman on the cover and an interview with “an inside look at Wonder Woman’s journey from WWI to the neon-soaked 80s.”
Wonder Woman 1984 will arrive in theaters on June 5.

#NewMusicVideo from Sy Smith ‘Camelot’!
Indy R&B/Soul singer Sy Smith drops the music video for her sensual and hypnotizing new single, “Camelot.”

The beautiful scenic visuals of the music video were directed by Shawn Carter Peterson and shot on an iPhone 10 device. The video was shot in Tanzania, East Africa. It opens on the island of Zanzibar featuring its expansive beaches and inland in the Jozani Forest. Later we join Sy on safari in different parts of the vast East African nation’s landscape – the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, and Tarangire National Park.
“Camelot – as we know from fairytales – is a fictitious place, meant to represent a sort of castle estate for fairytale love stories. This song is about a girl dreaming of a love that she can see so clearly that it seems real to her, but she knows it’s all in her mind. It’s her own personal Camelot – a fantasy and figment of her imagination,” mentions Sy.

“The inspiration of this video was two-fold – 1) To have my love interest actually be a place instead of a person. In this case, the love interest is this beautiful region of the earth called Tanzania. 2) To relocate the idea of Camelot from what is normally considered (a medieval castle-like fortress associated with a legendary King Arthur somewhere in old Great Britain) to a REAL place, in this case – these majestic regions of Tanzania,” she adds.

“Camelot” appears on Sy’s recently released album, ‘Sometimes A Rose Will Grow In Concrete,’ available on all platforms now.

14-Year-Old Boy Who Allegedly Stabbed Tessa Majors Charged With Murder!
A 14-year-old boy has been charged with murder in connection with the stabbing death of Barnard College freshman Tessa Majors, the NYPD and the Manhattan District Attorney's Office...Read more
At first, video shows the three following a male pedestrian through the park, but a subsequent video shows that the male is no longer being followed, the complaint says. Around 6:47 p.m., surveillance video shows Weaver and the two others “surrounding a female who was walking up the stairs,” but later shows them turn and walk back down the stairs after a different male pedestrian walks down the stairs, according to the complaint.

Less than two minutes later, a witness told police he heard a "male voice" near the stairs, the complaint says.
“Informant…. heard a male voice from the area just to the east of the landing, say in substance — run your s--t. Gimme your phone. You got some weed, gimme that too,” the complaint reads. “According to informant… after a few moments, he then heard a female voice scream, among other things, help me! I’m being robbed.”
A minute later, surveillance video shows the three struggling with Majors on the landing before Majors “break[s] free and slowly stagger[s] up the stairs,” the complaint says.

Majors’ blood was recovered from the landing and stairs, and DNA recovered from one of her fingernail clippings matched Weaver’s DNA profile, according to the complaint. An autopsy found that Majors was stabbed in the torso several times; one of the stab wounds "pierced her heart," the complaint says. The NYPD also obtained an audio recording in which Weaver admitted that he "hit [Majors] with a knife" inside the park after she refused to give up her phone, according to the complaint.

Weaver was arraigned on Saturday afternoon. He was remanded without bail and is expected to appear in court again on Feb. 19, Vance said. His attorney information wasn't immediately available.
Prosecutors say Weaver was also one of three people involved in a knifepoint iPhone robbery that took place inside Morningside Park four days before Majors' death, on Dec. 7.
Weaver was wearing the same jacket during that robbery, and Apple records reviewed by the NYPD showed that the stolen phone was logged into his iCloud account, according to the complaint. Vance on Saturday called the arrest "a major milestone on the path to justice for Tessa Majors."

"Our journey to reach that milestone today was not a sprint, but rather it was a painstaking, deliberate and meticulous search for the truth," he said.
In a hearing for the 13-year-old who was previously arrested, police described how the group of teenagers put Majors in a chokehold and removed items from her pockets. The college freshman was able to fight back, biting one of her attackers on the finger, police said.
The 13-year-old said he watched his friend slash Majors with a knife, according to a detective's testimony.

Detectives say the 13-year-old teen watched as Majors was stabbed at the base of the steps, feathers coming out of her jacket as she struggled to fight back. She was stabbed multiple times and managed to stagger out of the park to find a security guard for help. Majors died at a hospital.
In a statement after her death, Majors' family said they want to know "what exactly happened to Tessa and who committed her murder. We believe, for the immediate safety of the community and the surrounding schools, that should be everyone’s top priority and we are grateful to the men and women of the NYPD for all of their efforts."

Police immediately stepped up security in the park area after Majors died. Crime statistics show more robberies were reported in Morningside Park this year than in any other park in the city.

Lizzo Talks About The Double Standard In Criticism of Men’s Bodies Vs. Women’s Bodies!
Lizzo has always been vocal of the body positivity, and she never shies away from giving her opinion on the criticism women face for their appearance.
Lizzo touched on the somewhat sensitive topic in an interview with Brazil’s TV Folha, following her first ever performance in Rio de Janeiro.
“I think that women are always going to be criticized for existing in their bodies,” Lizzo said. “And I don’t think I’m any different than any of the other great women who’ve come before me that had to literally be politicized just to be sexual, or sexualized just to exist. Things on them that were beautiful were called flaws, and they persisted against that and fought against that,” the Grammy award-winning artist said.

Lizzo talked about the struggle of female artists in the entertainment business who may all look different but are somehow subjected to the same marginalization and misogyny.
Calling out the obvious double standard on men and women’s appearance, she said: “So what does that tell you about the oppressor—what does that tell you about men? Get it together. We don’t talk about your dick sizes, do we? And say that’s not a conventional dick size—it’s too small. We still let y’all asses run all over the goddamn place.”
The “Truth Hurts” singer also kept it brutally honest when she opened up representation in the world, or lack thereof.

“There is a lack of representation in the world—full stop. Especially for women who look like me,” she said. “But my choice process was to make myself visible, not to shrink. To be heard and use my platforms to raise other women. That’s why I put black and big dancers and also an entire orchestra of black women on the Grammy stage—because I think that if I can help them, I must help them.”
