The Daily Buzz For Sept 9 ☕๐Ÿ“ฐ☕

Taron Egerton Looking HOT for GQ UK - October 2019!๐Ÿ”ฅ
From GQ; In Rocketman, 29-year-old Taron Egerton soared into Oscar prominence with his stunning turn playing Sir Elton John. Here, Hollywood’s flameproof frontman talks duetting with the man himself, Russian censorship and how Elton’s wild cocaine habit made his teeth itch just hearing about it

So, playing Sir Elton in Rocketman, with the greatest of respect to the Kingsman films, is it fair to say this is the best thing you’ve done?
I mean, not by a country mile, by light years! I just got such an interesting part to play, but also just about the opportunities that it afforded me in terms of singing and playing someone who’s very vulnerable, but also really imposing, and so much changes over the course of the story. It’s everything you could want for a role. I mean, it’s just bloody wonderful.

I’ve actually seen it twice. It’s better the second time.
That’s so nice to hear. And you’re not the first person to say that. I think it’s because there’s such a great attention to detail in it. And I think when something’s been crafted with great care and affection it does stand a little bit more than one viewing. I’ve actually seen it four times now and I’ll watch it again.
The first thing I noticed is just the voice, which you get instantly. Was there a fine line between playing Elton and impersonating him?
The way we thought about it, it’s not mimicry, the performance, but there are this about him that I wanted to try to emulate. One of the things that really interested me about him was that, a bit like Michael Caine, his voice is just so different in terms of his register – it’s completely different over time. If you listen to Elton in his first interviews, he sounds like a North Londoner, but now he’s nearer to sounding like an American and partly that’s because he’s been with a Canadian [David Furnish] for 25 years. So that was quite a nice little way of tracking where I was, because I started playing him as he was in 1960-something all the way through to about 1990. It’s a long time. And the voice is quite a useful way, along with losing his hair, of tracking where you’re at.

Was there anything you were worried about when you took on the role?
The thing I was nervous of... There’s a certain amount of trepidation around playing a gay character when you’re a heterosexual. Because you don’t want that community to feel you’re doing some sort of caricature or something. I didn’t want to camp it up, because Elton is not a camp man. I knew quite acutely that wasn’t what I wanted to do.
Was that a worry when the film came out?
I was aware of it before we started filming. I knew it would be something that some people would take issue with. But I also knew that the film was very, very celebratory about that side of the character. So I felt that, generally, people would be accepting.

What was the first thing Elton said to you when he saw the final thing?
He said that he didn’t think it was me. He thought it was him.

#RHOA: #TWIRL Kenya Moore’s Storyline on the new season She ‘Broke Down’ After Opening Up About Her Marriage!๐Ÿ˜ฅ
Kenya Moore promised to be more open about her marriage to Marc Daly upon her return The Real Housewives of Atlanta and it’s taking a toll! The new mom’s marital issues reportedly caused her to have a breakdown during filming. “Kenya feels like she is doing all of the parenting in the relationship, and it is overwhelming for her,” a source told RadarOnline.comOpens a New Window.. The couple welcomed daughter Brooklyn in November 2018.

The insider further revealed, “She is really struggling being basically a single mom.” Marc, 49, works primarily in New York City as a restaurant owner although Kenya is raising her family in Atlanta. Kenya, 48, was fired from RHOA after she secretly got married to Marc in 2017. The couple was adamant at the time about keeping their relationship off-air.

The reality star’s new storyline, however, is taking a toll on the new mom. “She was in crisis mode and really broke down while filming,” the source told Radar. “It was intense.” “Marc has only been to a few times to film with Kenya and the baby, but he doesn’t live there and he isn’t there full-time,” the insider added. “Kenya is in a long distance relationship and that is hard as a mom, as a wife, and as someone on a reality show.” Kenya’s drama is reportedly going to be a major plotline on the upcoming season of RHOA, but she took a $1 million pay cut because she is being brought back as a “friend” rather than a main Housewife.

So Twirlers what do you think about Kenya getting more personal about her family this season?

#Empire: Taraji P. Henson Confirms Final Empire Season + Return Date: “Til The End Baby – Brace Yourself”!๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜ฎ
Hollywood actress Taraji P. Henson knows the end is inevitable. Everyone’s favorite “Empire” actress has come forward to confirm the show’s final season airs later this month.
On Thursday, Henson went to Instagram to share the series’ artwork and September 24 return date.
Fox has officially set its fall premiere dates Tuesday, Sept. 24 will see the Season 3 premiere of medical drama “The Resident,” followed by the sixth and final season premiere of the hit music drama “Empire.” (Variety)

Back in April, FOX announced its decision to bring back the hip-hop soap opera.
Jussie Smollett’s future on “Empire” remains in limbo. The series has officially been renewed for a sixth season on Fox, but there are no plans for Smollett’s character Jamal to return. Smollett, 36, was accused of orchestrating a racial and homophobic-fuelled assault on himself. He was eventually indicted for disorderly conduct, but all charges against Smollett were controversially dropped. (ET Canada)

According to reports, both Taraji and Terrence recently joined others in requesting axed “Empire” star Jussie Smollett to return for its sixth season.
Henson, Howard, and the rest of the drama series’ top cast, penned an April 19 letter to Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier, Disney TV Studios and ABC Entertainment chair Dana Walden, Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn, Empire co-creators Lee Daniels and Danny Strong, and other executive producers on the series, Varietyconfirmed. “Together, as a united front, we stand with Jussie Smollett and ask that our co-star, brother and friend be brought back for our sixth season of Empire,” read the letter, obtained by Deadline. It is signed by Bryshere Y. Gray, Trai Byers, Gabourey Sidibe, Nicole Ari Parker, and others. (Variety)

#MusicNews: Fantasia Reveals Album Cover & Release Date For ‘Sketchbook’!๐Ÿ“–๐ŸŽค
Fantasia's coming! We already knew that when the American Idol victor-turned-R&B superstar started a slow trickle of new music earlier this year with the release of "Enough." Things got a little quiet on her end, though, before she hit full-speed once again — premiering her song "Looking For You" on an episode of BET's Sunday Best and dropping the T-Pain-featuring "PTSD" more recently. But we know it ain't really real until a release date and album art arrive. Well, folks, they're here! For Sketchbook,
Fantasia's taking the idea to heart for the cover. Therefore, the usual photograph is replaced with an actual drawn sketch of the singer's face. She, of course, had to add some glam to the proceedings, so the accents — like a stylish hat and luxurious looking bling — give the cover pops of color (in this case, red, silver and gold).

As for what we can expect of the album musically, Fantasia decided to keep that a bit of a mystery as she has yet to release the tracklist. We do know that, aside from the aforementioned songs, there will be a collaboration with Brandy and Jazmine Sullivan included and Meghan Trainor has a writing credit on the album. When can you expect Sketchbook to drop? The whole shebang is set to arrive at your favorite digital retailer on October 11th. Feast your eyes on the cover above and prepare yourself for Fantasia's soulful return this fall.

#HipHopNews: The Notorious B.I.G. Christopher Wallace Wins "Party & Bullsh*t" Lawsuit!๐Ÿ๐Ÿ
NEW YORK, NY – A New York Federal judge has ruled The Notorious B.I.G. — and subsequently Rita Ora — were within their legal rights to use the phrase “party and bullshit” in their music.
According to Billboard, Judge Robert Katzmann handed down the ruling on Wednesday (September 4) and determined using the words didn’t constitute copyright infringement.
Staci Jennifer Riordan, who leads Nixon Peabody’s legal team on behalf of Biggie’s estate and Ora, was pleased with Katzmann’s ruling.

“It aligns with most people’s understandings of how the law should work,” Riordan said. “No one should be able to own a phrase, especially if I am not using the phrase or words in the same way. You shouldn’t be prevented from saying ‘party and bullshit’ and phrases like it.
“[The ruling] gives clarity to future musicians and entertainers on what they can put out in their recordings, music, movies, YouTube or in their content.”

The lawsuit was filed by founding member of The Last Poets Oyewole several years ago. The iconic spoken word group was behind 1968’s “When the Revolution Comes,” which used the words “party and bullshit and party and bullshit and party and bullshit and party and bullshit and party” as a refrain.
B.I.G. dropped “Party and Bullshit” in 1993. The track contained samples of “When the Revolution Comes” and a remix of the “party and bullshit” phrase. After his 1997 shooting death, his estate licensed the phrase to Ora for her 2012 single “How We Do (Party).”

Oyewole sued both Biggie’s estate and Ora for copyright infringement for using the phrase, claiming he never received any royalties. The Biggie estate, however, argued fair use.
The lower courts ruled in Biggie’s favor last year, but the decision wasn’t affirmed by the District Court for the Southern District of New York until now.
“The whole purposes of the copyright infringement is to promote innovation and allow people to express themselves,” Riordan said. “We are happy we are able to make a contribution to clarifying the law and to promoting creativity.”

Ludacris, Tyler Perry And More Help The Bahamas After Hurricane Dorian!๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜Š
Tyler Perry, Ludacris and more are stepping up to help the Bahamas in wake of the devastation caused by Hurricane Dorian.
Perry’s personal seaplane, which is located in Nassau, made at least two trips Thursday (Sept. 5) delivering much needed supplies including water, sleeping bags and toiletries to areas hardest hit by the hurricane, TMZ reports. According to the website, Perry's plane also brought back seven people in need to medical attention, which included children and a pregnant woman.
Perry has owned a private island in the Bahamas for several years. On Tuesday (Sept. 3), the entertainment mogul revealed that he was waiting until it was safe to send help. “To all the incredible people of the Bahamas who have welcomed me and called me an adoptive son, I want you to know that I am watching closely, and as soon as I can, I will be there to do whatever I can to help you rebuild stronger and better,” he wrote. “You’re not only in my heart and my prayers, you’re in my blood. God bless you. Stay Bahamas strong. The sun will shine [again].”
Rihanna has also vowed to help through her Clara Lionel Foundation. “It truly breaks my heart to see the complete devastation that #HurricaneDorian is having on the Bahamas!” Rih Rih tweeted Monday (Sept. 2). “You are in our prayers and @ClaraLionelFdn is already figuring out how best we can help! #HurricaneDorain #Bahamas.”

Additionally, Hampton University is offering free enrollment to Bahamian students displaced by the Hurricane.

The World Health Organization and other outlets have sent supplies as well. It's estimated that more than 75,000 people in the Bahamas are in dire need of aid. So far, 30 people have been confirmed dead, while several remain missing.  The death toll is expected to rise “dramatically,” Bahamian Prime Minister Hubert Minnis said.

#RIP: 'Project Runway' Alum Chris March Dead At 56!๐Ÿ˜ฅ
Chris March has died at the age of 56. According to TMZ, the costume designer, who appeared on the fourth season of Project Runway, passed away Thursday afternoon (September 5) from a heart attack. Chris had reportedly been "in and out of the hospital for the last year, but the heart attack came as a surprise to doctors and relatives.

While the designer, known for his infectious laugh, suffered healthy issues related to a "nasty fall" from two years ago, he was still designing dresses until the time of his death.
As fans know, he fell and hit his head in his apartment back in June 2017. The fall was so bad that Chris laid there for four days, before finally being able to call 911. He was then rushed to the hospital and placed in a medically induced coma. He suffered organ failure, including a collapsed lung.

In March, Chris offered an update on his condition on his GoFundMe page, which was set up to help him pay for his consistent medical treatments. "I have recently run into several setbacks in my recovery, the biggest one being that my medical insurance went up over 500 percent at the beginning of 2019," he said in a message shared via friend Nelson Caraballo, per EW. "I am also in need of leg braces, specialized physical therapy, a hearing aid, and a new living arrangement. Where I am now is unbearable and makes me anxious and depressed every day. I have considered suicide many times. I have tried my best to make strides. There is a long road of physical therapy ahead of me."

Chris was known for his "avant-garde style." He dressed mega-stars like Beyoncรฉ, Meryl Streep, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Coolidge, and more! The 56-year-old designer even designed costumes for Cirque du Soleil and bunch of Broadway shows. He was also a finalist on season four of Project Runway, and appeared on Project Runway All Stars before getting his own show on Bravo called Mad Fashion.

Andy Cohen remembered the Bravo star on Instagram Friday (September 6). "This is how I’m going to remember Chris March, dressed as Lisa Vanderpump as I wear a Giggy costume he made for one of our first Halloween specials," the Bravo host captioned a photo of him and Chris on a Halloween-themed episode of Watch What Happens Live. "Chris was a finalist on Season 4 of Project Runway. He designed for everyone from Beyoncรฉ, Gaga, Madonna, Meryl, Prince and many legendary downtown drag queens (And Sonja Morgan!). He had a big booming laugh; he was a joy and delight. #RIP."

#BoxOfficeNews:'It’ Won the Box Office with 91 Million and a Global Debut of $185 Million!๐ŸŽฌ๐Ÿ“ฝ๐ŸŽซ
Warner Bros. and New Line's It: Chapter Two kicked off the fall box office season with a strong, $91 million debut. The performance easily topped the weekend box office, finishing ahead of the second place film by $85 million. While the performance trails the first film's $123 million opening back in 2017, it is still within studio expectations and ranks as the second largest horror opening of all-time while 2017's It remains to be the only horror film to ever open with more than $100 million.

It: Chapter Two and its predecessor now rank as the first and second largest openings for both a horror film as well as the first and second largest September openings of all-time. Interestingly enough, one reason Chapter Two may have fallen short of its predecessor would appear to be the film's inability to attract a female audience similar to the first film and most horror films nowadays, which tend to be majority female, even if by a small margin. Chapter Two drew an audience that was 47% female compared to the first film's 51%. In terms of age, the sequel's audience leaned slightly older than the first film with 67% of the opening weekend crowd aged 25 or older compared to 65% for the first film.

The film did receive a "B+" CinemaScore, which is the same as the original film, though IMDb user ratings tell a different story. Chapter Two is currently rated 7.2/10, a full point below the first film's 8.2 rating as of the Sunday following release.

In second, Lionsgate and Millennium's Angel Has Fallen delivered an estimated $6 million, pushing the film's domestic cume over $53 million as it enters its third week in release.
Universal's Good Boys finished in third with an estimated $5.4 million, dipping -43% as the film's domestic cume now stands at $66.8 million. Internationally, the R-rated comedy added $2.3 million from 28 markets for an overseas total that now stands at $15.6 million and a global cume topping $82 million.

Disney's The Lion King lands in the top five for the eighth straight weekend, bringing in an estimated $4.2 million for a $529.1 million domestic cume. The film also added $13.4 million internationally this weekend for an overseas cume totaling $1.07 billion and a global cume just shy of $1.6 billion as the film now ranks seventh all-time both globally and internationally.

Rounding out the top five is Sony and AFFIRM's Overcomer, which added theaters for the third straight week in a row and dipped just -34% for an estimated $3.75 million and a domestic cume that now stands at $24.7 million.

Charity Supported By NFL & Jay-Z Apologizes For Cutting Teens’ Locs: “I Will Not Be Doing That Again If Asked”๐Ÿ˜ก
The organization that caught heat for cutting teens’ locs three years before it was given $200,000 by Jay-Z’s Roc Nation company, is now apologizing for the controversy.
Crushers Club’s founder, Sally Hazelgrove, who was shown cutting two teen boys’ dreads in the 2016 photos, said in a statement:
“Out of 500 youth going through our doors I cut two young men’s hair because they asked me to and we are a family structure and so I did it and didn’t really think about it after that. I tweeted about it without much thought. It’s hair. But I regret it now and I promise you I will not be doing that again if asked.”

She also said the criticism has been tough for her.
“The hatred and accusations from this took me by surprise. The backlash has been hard to be honest.”
One of the teens Kobe, spoke out and said it was his choice to get his hair cut.
Crushers Club, an organization that empowers at-risk youth in Chicago, was thrust in the spotlight after headlines revealed it would be receiving a $200,000 donation from Roc Nation this week.
Along with the photos of Hargrove cutting locs, Crushers Club also received backlash for using the phrase All Lives Matter and asked President Donald Trump to help with gang violence in the city. Those tweets have since been deleted, but Hargrove said she wants to set the record straight.

“I said that not to take away from black lives matter, but to be inclusive of everyone,” Hazelgrove told the paper. “I never meant to belittle or disrespect anyone. I will be more sensitive of what I say moving forward. I truly have love for everyone of all races, religions and preferences, and hate does not live in me. I am so sorry for being insensitive.

Roc Nation and the NFL have not addressed the controversy.

What do you think about the apology

Day care worker in Delaware suffocated ‘fussy’ 4-month-old to death. Caught on Video!๐Ÿ˜จ
Dejoynay Ferguson, 19, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of a 4-month-old baby.
A 19-year-old woman was caught on camera this week killing an infant at a Delaware day care facility because the girl wouldn’t stop crying, authorities said.

Dejoynay Ferguson “placed her hands over the victim’s mouth and nose and intentionally restricted her breathing until she became unresponsive,” Delaware State Police said in a statement Friday.
The disturbing incident happened Thursday morning at Little People Child Development Center in Bear, a New Castle County community in the northern part of the state.
Police said Ferguson only told the day care owner that the 4-month-old was unresponsive about 20 minutes after she suffocated her and placed the child into a crib. Emergency personnel were called, but the baby was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The woman was charged with first-degree murder and is being held on $1 million bail.
Authorities did not release any other details, but court records obtained by The News Journal describe the horrific images caught on surveillance video.
Ferguson was seen grabbing the infant by the shirt and suffocating her for about three minutes, according to the documents. The woman reportedly told police the child was being “fussy” and wouldn’t stop crying, but it was not clear whether she confessed to the crime.

Police said the state has suspended the license of the day care facility “indefinitely.”
