The Sri Lanka Church and Hotel massacre The victims include some Americans
The identities of some victims of the Easter massacres in Sri Lanka emerged Sunday evening -- including a British mother and her 11-year-old son, along with a TV chef and her daughter.
Over the course of the day, a series of bombs exploded, including at churches and luxury hotels, killing more than 200 people. It was the deadliest series of attacks the South Asian island country had seen since a bloody civil war there ended a decade ago.

The explosions — most of them in or around Colombo, the capital — collapsed ceilings and blew out windows, killing worshippers and hotel guests in one scene after another of smoke, soot, blood, broken glass, screams and wailing alarms. Victims were carried out of blood-spattered pews.

Most of those killed were Sri Lankans. But the three bombed hotels and one of the churches, St. Anthony’s Shrine, were frequented by foreign tourists, and Sri Lanka’s Foreign Ministry said the bodies of at least 27 foreign visitors from a variety of countries were recovered.
The U.S. said “several” American were among the dead, while Britain and China said they, too, lost citizens.
The Daily Telegraph reported that five British nationals are among the dead, including Shantha Mayadunne, a TV chef, and her daughter, Nisanga.

Shantha Mayadunne's website identified her as the first chef to host a live cooking show in Sri Lanka. She also had published multiple books.
The news outlet also reported that Alex Nicholson, 11, and his mother, Anita, 42, were killed; father Ben survived, while the family’s youngest daughter was unaccounted for.
In addition, British politician Tulip Siddiq announced she had "lost a relative" in the attacks. She did not elaborate.
Police spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said at least 207 people were killed and 450 wounded.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said he feared the massacre could trigger instability in Sri Lanka, a country of about 21 million people, and vowed to “vest all necessary powers with the defense forces” to take action against those responsible.

The government imposed a nationwide curfew from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. and blocked Facebook and other social media, saying it needed to curtail the spread of false information and ease tension.
The Archbishop of Colombo, Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith, called on Sri Lanka’s government to “mercilessly” punish those responsible “because only animals can behave like that.”
The scale of the bloodshed recalled the worst days of Sri Lanka’s 26-year civil war, in which the Tamil Tigers, a rebel group from the ethnic Tamil minority, sought independence from the Buddhist-majority country. During the war, the Tigers and other rebels carried out a multitude of bombings. The Tamils are Hindu, Muslim and Christian.

Sri Lanka, situated off the southern tip of India, is about 70 percent Buddhist, with the rest of the population Muslim, Hindu or Christian. While there have been scattered incidents of anti-Christian harassment in recent years, there has been nothing on the scale of what happened Sunday.

Six nearly simultaneous blasts took place in the morning in Colombo at St. Anthony’s Shrine — a Catholic church — and the Cinnamon Grand, Shangri-La and Kingsbury hotels. After a lull of a few hours, two more explosions occurred at St. Sebastian Catholic church in Negombo, a mostly Catholic town north of Colombo, and at the Protestant Zion church in the eastern town of Batticaloa.
Three police officers were killed while conducting a search at a suspected safe house in Dematagoda, on the outskirts of Colombo, when its occupants apparently detonated explosives to prevent arrest, Wijewardena said.

Local TV showed the Shangri-La’s second-floor restaurant was gutted, with the ceiling and windows blown out. Loose wires hung and tables were overturned in the blackened space. From outside the police cordon, three bodies could be seen covered in white sheets.

#RHOA Marlo Hampton is NOT getting a Peach! But allegedly ‘TWIRL’ Kenya Moore is in Negotiations to Return!
The Real Housewives of Atlanta season 12 is expected to begin production soon and as the ladies prepare to reassemble for the new episodes, rumors are swirling in regard to who will and who won’t be returning to the series.

Just as Andy Cohen shut down an online rumor that suggested Tamar Braxton could be added to the show for season 12, details regarding the roles of Shamari DeVoe, Eva Marcille, Kenya Moore, and Phaedra Parks have been shared.
Last week it was revealed insiders are claiming Shamari will be returning to The Real Housewives of Atlanta after her season 11 debut, but only in a “friend” role. Meanwhile, although producers were initially “on the fence” about Eva being brought back to the series, they ultimately decided to allow the model to retain her full-time position.

As for former stars Kenya and Phaedra, Kenya is said to be “quietly negotiating” a return while Phaedra is “being considered” for season 12.
As for the rest of the season 11 cast, NeNe Leakes, Kandi Burruss, Cynthia Bailey, and new mom Porsha Williams are expected to continue on with their full-time roles as Tanya Sam and Marlo Hampton continue to star as “friends” of the cast.

Just last week, Cynthia opened up to Ebony magazine about why Marlo has never held a peach.
“I think that anyone that’s holding a peach, I think you have to be willing to share your life… Your personal life and your private life,” she explained. “If you are holding a peach you have to be willing to give your complete life and I don’t know if Marlo is willing to do that.”

Also during the interview, Cynthia addressed Kenya’s potential return.
“Kenya Moore is definitely good for the show,“ she noted. “I think it is a different time in Kenya’s life and I think it would be great for all of Kenya’s fans to see where she’s at now because she’s in a really, really beautiful place.”

The Real Housewives of Atlanta season 11 airs Sundays at 8 p.m. on Bravo TV.

#Empire: Season 5 The Show is planning Jamal's Wedding During Actor's Final Episode
Empire is planning to give Jamal Lyon a proper wedding episode ahead of Jussie Smollett's exit.

While "A Wise Father That Knows His Own Child," revolved around Andre's (Trai Byers) cancer battle, and later recovery, as well as Lucious (Terrence Howard) and Kingsley (A.Z. Kelsey) making amends after he stops acting as a mole for the FBI, one of the final moments of the episode left fans with the good news that Jamal (Smollett) and Kai (Toby Onwumere) will be getting married as soon as possible.
"Since everyone is being all awkward and quiet, I guess I'd like to say something," Jamal says after Lucious brings Kingsley to family dinner.

"Big brother, I love you so much," he continues, addressing Andre. "I'm so grateful that you're well again... Watching you literally fight for your life has reminded me and Kai just how precious life is."

"And that it should be lived," Kai adds.
"Not just planned," Jamal says. "Y'all know that we're getting married. But we want to get married as soon as possible... We just want to get hitched and start life."
"We just got tired of worrying about tuxedos and place settings," Kai adds. The family then celebrates with a toast to the happy and sudden news.

"We're having a Lyon wedding, y'all!" Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) says, before the show goes to an FBI raid in Empire's Trust Tour's latest venue as the FBI investigation against Lucious continues.

A preview for the next episode, set to air April 30, showed the couple exchanging vows, but knowing Empire there might be some obstacles on the way to "I do."
Fans of the Fox musical drama took to Twitter to speculate how Jamal's story will wrap up next week, given the fact Smollett was written off the show as he was in the midst of his legal woes.

"So Jamal is eloping [Empire] that's how they're going to write him out for the season," one Twitter user theorized.
"Why does this feel like goodbye for Jamal," Another user wrote, adding two crying emojis.
"It looks like Kingsley is going to take Jamal place as he exit," another user wondered.

Empire producers first announced the decision to write Jamal Lyon off the final two episodes of Season 5 to avoid further filming disruptions after the investigation into the attack against him shifted to police investigating Smollett for staging it.
Henson previously revealed Smollett would definitely return to series should it be renewed for a sixth season, though producers have not confirmed the news.

Empire airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.

#HipHopNews: The Game Says Nipsey Hussle Told Him To Squash Beef With Meek Mill
In the aftermath of Nipsey Hussle's tragic passing, more stories of the late rapper's impact on the rap game and his community are coming to light.
In a post he uploaded on Thursday (April 18), The Game continued to mourn the loss of his friend by revealing that Nipsey once told him to end his public feud with Meek Mill.
"I got mad at you when you called me about the @meekmill beef trying to squash it & I told you “stop ridin for these niggas, this the West” !!!" The Game said in one part of his lengthy Instagram caption he posted Thursday (April 18). "& you told me “you gone do what you wanna do Chuck & I’m always with you but that’s the bro I’m telling you, I talked to Meek & he ready to let it go”. I didn’t listen, so the beef lingered & then Meek got locked up & I remember feeling really bad about that."

The Game and Meek Mill's well-documented beef began back in June 2016 when the Compton rapper said he wanted to fight Meek Mill for allegedly implicating him in the robbing of Sean Kingston's jewelry to LAPD. Even after police documents proved the Philly rapper wasn't involved, the former Game unloaded some ferocious bars aimed at Meek, and the two ended up being in a fairly prolonged rap battle (See "92 Bars" and Meek Mill's "OOOUUU (Remix)").
After beefing for nearly two years, The Game finally settled his issues with Meek once the Philly rapper was finally released from prison in 2018. The West Coast rapper says Nipsey was the one who encouraged him to make things right with Meek.
"Then he got outta jail & in the midst of everything he was going through that day, he called me & said he’d been thinking about me in jail & one of the 1st things he wanted to do when he got out was put our differences aside," The GHame continues in his caption. "So we did. I called you, told you & I could hear the smile thru the phone before you saying “Told You Chuck.... we can do so much more if we are unified in this shit”. Your heart bro, your heart. Always pure, always solid. Always my brother.... “THE GREAT @NIPSEYHUSSLE” !!!! Feel his energy, I know you do. Look around, the person you see next to you does too ! #TheMarathonContinues ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ #OneNipPostADayTiliFadeAway"

Pop Singer Adele and Husband Simon Konecki Split After More Than 7 Years Together
Adele and her husband, Simon Konecki, have split after more than seven years together.
“Adele and her partner have separated,” the singer’s representative Benny Tarantini and Carl Fysh said in a statement to the Associated Press.

“They are committed to raising their son together lovingly. As always they ask for privacy. There will be no further comment.”
The 30-year-old singer (born Adele Adkins) and entrepreneur-philanthropist Konecki, 44, have long kept the details of their romance under wraps.

The “Hello” singer first addressed their relationship in a blog post in January 2012, the same month they were spotted on an airboat ride in the Everglades. In June 2012, Adele revealed she and Konecki were expecting a baby, and the pair welcomed their son Angelo on Oct. 19, 2012.
The small family has lived a quiet life, spending time between her native London and Beverly Hills, where they bought a home in 2016.

“The reason her relationship works with Simon is because they are on the same page,”“Their priority is their son, and Adele loves being a mother. Angelo is a very happy little boy.”

In a Vanity Fair cover story in December 2016, Adele opened up about her bond with the “confident” and “perfect” Konecki for one of the first times, calling it “the most serious relationship I’ve ever been in.”
“I have no desire to be with anyone in show business because we all have egos,” she told VF. “He’s not threatened by any stage of my life that I’m going for, and that’s an amazing thing.”

In January 2017, Adele sparked rumors she and Konecki had married when she was photographed with a band on her left ring finger.
The singer went on to hint at their marriage the following month at the Grammys as she accepted the album of the year award for her smash album 25: “Grammys, I appreciate it, the Academy, I love you, my manager, my husband and my son — you’re the only reason I do it.”

Then she finally confirmed they had wed at a March 2017 concert in Brisbane, where she told the audience: “I’m married now.”

Since her last world tour wrapped in June 2017, Adele has largely remained out of the public eye.
In March 2019, the singer and pal Jennifer Lawrence were spotted partying at the New York City gay bar Pieces. The same week, Adele was photographed outside an N.Y.C. recording studio sans her wedding ring. And in April, she reportedly spent time with friend Taylor Swift.

Will Smith & Martin Lawrence Finishes Filming ‘Bad Boys For Life’
After several months of shooting, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence have completed filming for their buddy-cop flick, Bad Boys for Life.

On Thursday (April 18), Will went on his Instagram page to announce the completion of shooting for the movie. In one image, Will and Martin are holding umbrellas with the caption reading, “That’s a Wrap! @BadBoys For Life - Ciudad de Mรฉxico. Now hand me a Margarita and a pack of tropical fruit bubblicious.”

In another photo from the same post, Will is shaking hands with the people of Mexico. In another pic, the 50-year-old Hollywood superstar is posing in a barrio.
Will started filming Bad Boys for Life back in January. Although details about the production have been kept a secret, we do know that DJ Khaled will make a cameo appearance in the flick.
The new Bad Boys film follows the 1995 original and the 2003 sequel Bad Boys II, both of which were box office smashes. Will and Lawrence will once again play Miami cops Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett, respectively. The cast also includes actors Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Charles Melton, Jacob Scipio, Paola Nuรฑez and Joe Pantoliano.

Bad Boys for Life is set to arrive in theaters on Jan. 17, 2020.

#BROADWAYNEWS: Coming To The Stage – ‘Bayard Rustin: The Musical’!!!!
The life and legacy of openly gay Civil Rights icon Bayard Rustin is coming to the New York City stage this summer in a new theatrical production titled BAYARD: A New Musical. It will be presented for one night only on June 17 at 9:30 PM at Feinstein’s/54 Below.

According to PLAYBILL, the show will focus on Bayard’s contributions to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Civil Rights Movement during the turbulent 1960s. It will also put a spotlight on his organizing genius behind the historic March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom where Dr King delivered his now famous I Have a Dream speech.

The synopsis reads: “In 1963, what would become known as the most iconic march in Civil Rights history was still a gestating idea without the right person to organize it. The leaders of the movement, some reluctantly, some faithfully, chose Bayard Rustin, the great civil rights strategist and openly gay Black man, to organize and get the march on its feet. His ideas would be a boon for the movement and his life would be the obstacle.”
Rustin was also a close friend to A. Philip Randolph and was instrumental in organizing the March on Washington Movement of 1941 as well as the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) and the Freedom Rides.

Bayard is created, produced and directed by Richard Allen and Taran Gray and features Deon’te Goodman, Anthony Chatmon II and Scott Redmond.

Marisa Tomei, Woody Harrelson, Wanda Sykes & Jamie Foxx to Star in Live 'All in the Family,' 'The Jeffersons' Remakes!
Jimmy Kimmel is executive producing the 90-minute special which will recreate one episode each from the classic Norman Lear sitcoms with new all-star casts.
In easily one of the most bizarre development stories to come out of Hollywood, Jimmy Kimmel is assembling an all-star cast to perform live recreations of classic Norman Lear episodes from both "All in the Family" and "The Jeffersons."

Is this where the live musical era is taking us after the disappointing ratings of "Rent"? Everyone seems to agree that staging live television events remains one of the few ways to combat viewer erosion as more and more people consume their entertainment on-demand.
Like the recent glut of live musical productions, Kimmel is bringing along a star-studded cast to be sure and draw the attention of even the most casual of entertainment fans.

Taking over the iconic roles of Archie and Edith Bunker for this live 90-minute special are Woody Harrelson and Marisa Tomei. As for "The Jeffersons," look for Jamie Foxx and Wanda Sykes as the happy couple, George and Louise. But the stars don't stop there.

Ellie Kemper is on tap to play the Bunker's daughter Gloria, while Will Ferrell plays "Jeffersons" neighbor Tom Willis and Justina Machado steps in as their wisecracking housekeeper Florence. The rest of the cast will be rounded out shortly, but it's already a pretty exciting roster.

The special is set to air on May 22 and will be executive produced by Kimmel, Lear, Ferrell, Adam McKay, Brent MillerJustin Theroux. Legendary sitcom director James Burrows has been tapped to helm the show.
"The fact that a group of Oscar winners eagerly agreed to play these iconic characters is a testament to the greatness of these shows and their creator, Norman Lear," Kimmel said in a statement received by TheWrap. "To be a part of this is a dream come true for me and for everyone involved."

"These revered shows are as culturally relevant today as they’ve ever been, and the talent they have gathered makes this the can’t-miss television event of the year ... make that decade," said ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke.

The show's iconic creator, Norman Lear, says that a bit part of the impetus to bring these shows into the 2010s is to show that their messages are as timely and relevant today as they were in the 1970s. Both shows were incendiary to many during their original runs, boldly tackling real issues like racism, homophobia, bigotry and classism on a weekly basis.

"They have said over and over again that these two shows were meant for the ’70s and would not work today," Lear said. "We disagree with them and are here to prove, with two great casts depicting ‘All in the Family’ and ‘The Jeffersons,’ the timelessness of human nature. I cannot wait to see what these glorious performers make in our time of these indelible characters."
Also not yet revealed are the episodes that will be featured from each show. Each had more than 200 episodes, many of them considered classics by modern standards. And while they are timeless in many ways, they might be hard sells for modern audiences who aren't as familiar with Lear or his classic sitcoms.

That's where the star-studded cast comes in. And the timing couldn't be better for a revival of these shows. Perhaps in no time since the 1970s, social issues are again at the forefront of American culture, with sensitivity and intolerance seeming to run rampant in equal measure.
If we're being totally honest, in a world where "One Day at a Time" can come back more relevant and as fantastic as ever, we wouldn't be opposed to either show making a comeback, either. Especially if they could land talent like this for a full revival (we know they can't, but we can dream!).

"Live in Front of a Studio Audience: Norman Lear's 'All in the Family' and 'The Jeffersons'" will air as a live 90-minute special on ABC Wednesday, May 22.

YIKES! Cardi B Rejects Plea Deal in Strip Club Assault Case
Cardi B just rejected her plea deal in her strip club assault case.

The 26-year-old rapper was spotted heading into court on Friday afternoon (April 19) in Queens, New York.
Cardi is facing charges from two sisters who claim she attacked them with bottles and chairs while they were working in a New York City strip club.
According to The Blast, Cardi was offered a plea deal that would have required her to plead guilty to misdemeanor assault in the third degree.
She would not have done jail time and if certain conditions were met, the case would have been dismissed.

Instead, a trial date was set for next month.

Jussie Smollett Has Been CUT From a New Broadway Musical!
While he's still set to star on "Empire" (according to his co-host Taraji P. Henson), the actor has reportedly been cut for a leading role in Broadway's revival of Richard Greenberg's Tony-winning play, "Take Me Out."

The "Empire" star was in the running to play Darren Lemming, a mixed-race baseball star who comes out as gay. But, not anymore! A source spilled the beans to Deadline, revealing Jussie read for the lead role in January, before the alleged hate crime. No casting decision has been made about the lead role, but Jussie is out.

While Smollett is no longer in the picture, his casting apparently never proceeded to anything firm before the January 29 incident in Chicago that police say was a hate crime hoax perpetrated by Smollett for career advancement and attention.

"Take Me Out" will be directed by Scott Ellis as part of Second Stage’s 2019-20 season. Previews for the play are set to begin March 31, 2020, with opening night on April 23rd.

OUCH

Cypress Hill gets a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
April 18 (UPI) -- Hip-hop group Cypress Hill received the 2,660th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday during a ceremony in Los Angeles.

The four members -- Senen "Sen Dog" Reyes, Lawrence "DJ Muggs" Muggerud, Louis "B-Real" Freese and Eric "Bobo" Correa -- were presented with the award for their decades-long career in music, which included becoming the first Latino-American hip-hop group to earn a platinum record.
"There's a lot of actors, there's a lot of comedians, there's a lot of entertainers who are on this star, but there's only one Cypress Hill," comedian George Lopez said. "The first Latino hip-hop group, but to everybody that lives the American dream not the last Latino hip-hop group, to be on the walk of fame."
Reyes and his brother Ulpiano Sergio Reyes originally formed the group DVX -- Devastating Vocal Excellence -- with Frees and Muggerud but when Ulpiano Sergio Reyes left the group to launch a solo career as Mellow Man Ace, the remaining members were joined by Correa to form Cypress Hill.

The group released its self-titled debut album in August 1991, selling more than 2 million copies and their second album, Black Sunday, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 in 1993 and was certified triple-platinum, selling more than 3 million copies.

In 1993, Cypress Hill received a Grammy for best rap performance by a duo or group for their single "Insane In The Brain" and received two more nominations for "I Ain't Goin' Out Like That" and "Throw Your Set In The Air" in the following years.
"A lot of labels passed on us when we were shopping our music because they didn't get where we were coming from and they didn't understand the unorthodox style of music that we were trying to put out there," Freese said.
The group most recently released their ninth studio album Elephants on Acid late last year.

"You are our Rolling Stones, our Grateful Dead, you are the West Coast Public Enemy, you've stood the test of time and we cherish you and love you for everything you've done collectively and individually," rapper Xzibit said during the ceremony.
