The Daily Buzz For Feb 7 ☕📰☕

Armie Hammer for GQ UK - March 2019
Armie Hammer covers the March 2019 issue of British GQ Magazine photographed by Eric Ray Davidson and styled by Luke Day.
On white privilege: “There are white people who exercise their white privilege with or without knowing it and I would be foolish to sit here and say, ‘Well, that has nothing to do with my career.’ I can’t sit here and say that. But also, people must be aware of the work ethic it takes. I get it. Guys like me have got a lot from being guys like me. Even if white privilege does have anything to do with it, there is a lot of work I put into this.”
On not considering himself a millennial: “I am a millennial. You’re right. I totally should. And I can’t say I am not a millennial, but I’m not a millennial. I don’t get it. It doesn’t resonate with me. I don’t know why millennials will go to a wedding and take a picture of themselves on the dance floor and then post it on social media and be like, ‘Congratulations to Sarah and Jeff, so happy for you guys!’ Just what the hell is that? That just doesn’t make any sense to me.”

#RHoA: Star NeNe Leakes said to Folks that her Husband Gregg Leakes Is Not Perfect
Real Housewives of Atlanta star Nene Leakes held nothing back about her husband Gregg during a recent episode of the RHOA After Show. And, even though she admits he is a “good guy,” she wanted to make it clear he was not perfect.

“I go home with Gregg honey; I sleep with Gregg honey. So I know what the f–k Gregg really is. I know every hair on his body, OK?” said Nene.
She went on to admit that they fought constantly when the RHOA cast went on vacation to Tokyo. And, even though Nene needed Gregg’s support, he wasn’t there.

“A lot of people think that he’s such an angel, and I’m not saying that he’s not. He’s a sweet guy; he’s a good guy … but he’s a f–king a–hole when he wants to be,” explained the reality star.
It makes sense that Gregg lets his guard down when he is behind closed doors with his wife. As fans know, Gregg received a colon cancer diagnosis last June, and it has been an emotional struggle for the couple that has caused some tension.

According to The Daily Dish, Gregg even apologized for taking out his frustrations on Nene and explained that we hurt the ones we love because they allow it. But he is “tired” of hurting his wife.

The cancer diagnosis drastically changed Gregg and Nene’s lives. He has had to undergo multiple treatments and a surgery, and she has become his caregiver. They haven’t let this situation break them, and they have given back by helping other couples in the same situation.
The couple has also become the newest American Cancer Society Ambassadors to help in the fight against the disease. According to the American Cancer Society website, they have a volunteer network that encourages leaders “to take real steps” in the cancer fight, and the Ambassadors play a crucial role and make a large impact when it comes to developing relationships with elected officials. Being an Ambassador requires a two-year commitment.
Gregg also started the charitable website can-sir.org, which Nene says is an effort to bring “more awareness to this dreadful disease called CANCER!”
Gregg and Nene Leakes donate all of the proceeds from the site to the American Cancer Society.

New episodes of Real Housewives of Atlanta air Sunday nights on Bravo.

#Empire: Jussie Smollett Returns back on The 'Empire' Set as Police found additional surveillance footage!
Jussie Smollett is back to work in Chicago on the set of "Empire," and detectives want to chat with the actor while he's in town ... TMZ has learned.
A production source tells us Smollett flew back into the Windy City Sunday, after his weekend show in Los Angeles. We're told Smollett shot scenes for one of the final episodes of the season Monday and did a table read with the cast Tuesday ... security was present the entire time.

Law enforcement sources tell us cops want to speak with Jussie while he's in town as part of their ongoing investigation.
As for where he's staying while in town ... a source close to Jussie tells us he's back at the same apartment complex where he was living at the time of the attack.

Jussie made his first public appearance at a concert at the Troubadour in Los Angeles Saturday, where he very proudly stated, "I couldn't let those motherf*****s win!" The show was supposed to have a meet and greet, which was canceled due to security concerns.

Police revealed Monday they've found additional surveillance footage surrounding the time leading up to and after the incident ... but the new video hasn't been released. Our sources say cops have not found any video of the attack or anyone fleeing after the attack.

Ariana Grande Feeling 'Insulted' so She’s Ditching The Grammys!
Don't be expecting Ariana Grande at the 2019 Grammy Awards this year.
The prestigious music event, kicking off this Sunday (February 10), will be minus one pop star due to a reported disagreement between Grande and the ceremony's producer about which song she could perform, Variety has learned.

According to a source who spoke with Hits Daily Double , the star apparently felt "insulted" after the Grammys production team disallowed her to sing her trap-inspired single "7 Rings" at the upcoming function.
However, in a (failed) attempt to meet in the middle, producers pitched to allow the 25-year-old to sing the record as part of a medley, but under the condition they would choose the second song.\
Grande said, No thank you, next! But what's more interesting is the insider insists she was the only performer given this ultimatum.

Why the resistance for the song? No one knows — but "7 Rings" did draw a ton of controversy over claims of "flow-stealing" among other things when it released.
Still, history has shown us this isn't the first case in which the Grammys have refused a topline female artist to perform a track of their choosing. In January 2018, Lorde reportedly pulled out of performing last year's Grammys when producers refused to give the star, who was also up for several honors that night herself, a solo set of her own.
Nevertheless, the artist will celebrate both her Grammy recognitions from home, including for Best Pop Vocal Performance for "God Is a Woman" and Best Pop Vocal Album for Sweetener .

Ariana Grande is also nominated at the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards for Best Female Artist, Best Fan Army, Best Cover Song, Best Lyrics and Music Video, Cutest Musician's Pet, and Song That Left Us Shook. Fans can vote via Twitter using the appropriate category and nominee hashtags, or by visiting iHeartRadio.com/awards through March 7 (March 13 for the appropriate category).

‘Grown-Ish’ Renewed For Season 3 By Freeform
Freeform has renewed their hit series “Grown-ish” for a season 3!
The renewal comes as no surprise considering the “Black-ish” spinoff ranks as the No. 1 comedy on cable among women 18-49 and females 12-34.

Season 2 follows Zoey (Shahidi) and her friends as they return to CalU with confidence and swagger. Learning from the ups and downs of their freshman year, they all think they’ve got their second year on lock, but quickly realize that they’re not as grown as they think.

Congrats to the cast and crew!

A Broadway choreographer Has been accused of molesting teen. Has been ARRESTED!
A Broadway choreographer and dance teacher was arrested for molesting a 16-year-old student, cops said Wednesday.

David Marquez, 53, allegedly fondled a 16-year-old male dance student over his clothes while the boy was lying on a couch during what were supposed to be dance lessons at Marquez’s upper Manhattan apartment on Aug. 15, 2017, police said.
The victim was visiting the city from Oregon for instruction, sources added. He reported the crime in March 2018, according to cops.
Marquez’s Broadway choreography credits include “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer,” “The Gershwins’ Fascinating Rhythm” and “Stanley,” according to a bio on his website.

He was charged with forcible touching and sex abuse.

Our New Meme now is Nancy Pelosi’s Petty Clap At Trump’s #SOTU19
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi‘s shade-filled applause was the best thing to come out of Donald Trump‘s State of the Union Address on Tuesday night.
Initially, Nancy’s awkward style of clapping  brought it home and sealed the deal with her shade-soaked smirk.

Trump ignited Petty Pelosi when he made the statement:
We must reject the politics of revenge, resistance, and retribution, and embrace the boundless potential of cooperation, compromise, and the common good.

Seriously? Jennifer Lopez will reportedly perform Motown tribute at the Grammys during Black History Month!
There isn’t a whole lot Jennifer Lopez can’t do, However there is one thing she shouldn’t do and that is lead the Motown tribute at the Grammy Awards. The label is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.

Following a report that the Latin pop sensation has been chosen to perform on Sunday, many are scratching their heads wondering why the Recording Academy didn’t pick a musician from the record company. Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, Bruno Mars and Gladys Knight are just a few famed Motown artists, past and present, and given the fact February is Black History Month, it has felt to many like a snub that an African-American artist wasn’t tapped to lead the tribute.

Twitter lit up in response to the J.Lo news.
The Recording Academy did not immediately respond to any request for comment and Lopez has yet to address the report and probably won’t!

There is also a salute to Motown Records planned for after the Grammys, with a special being recorded on Feb. 12, according to Billboard. It will be similar to last year’s salute to Elton John, as well as previous events that have paid homage to Frank Sinatra and Stevie Wonder. There are no details yet on which artists will be participating.

The 61st Annual Grammy Awards airs on CBS Sunday, Feb. 10, at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET.

Jay-Z Hires A Lawyer For 21 Savage
Jay-Z has stepped in to assist with 21 Savage's battle to be released from the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). According to a report TMZ published on Wednesday (Feb. 6), Jay has hired a lawyer to work on Savage's case, and he commented on the matter as well.
"In addition to being a successful recording artist, Savage deserves to be reunited with his children immediately," Jay-Z said, while adding that his arrest was "an absolute travesty." He also reiterated the same point that Savage's team has made since the rapper's arrest on Sunday (Feb. 3)—his U Visa application has been pending for years.
The attorney hired by Jay, Alex Spiro, also released a statement to the celebrity news site.

"We are not going to stop until he is released, bonded out or in front of a judge," he told TMZ. "What we have here is someone who overstayed their Visa with an application pending for four years—not a convicted criminal that needs to be detained and removed but, by all accounts a wonderful person, father, and entertainer who has a marijuana offense which was vacated and sealed."

In addition to Jay-Z, many more of 21 Savage's peers have come to his defense, including J. Cole and even Georgia representative Henry C. "Hank" Johnson—who wrote an endorsement letter and shared it with ICE on Twitter.

#SportsNews: Clippers trade Tobias Harris to 76ers in a deal involving 6 players
The LA Clippers and Philadelphia 76ers made a blockbuster deal, it was announced Wednesday, sending forward Tobias Harris to partner with the Sixers' Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and Jimmy Butler in pursuit of an Eastern Conference title.

The Sixers paid a steep future price to the Clippers, including rookie guard Landry Shamet, Philadelphia's own 2020 protected first-round pick and an unprotected 2021 first-round pick via the Miami Heat.
The Sixers (34-20) also sent forwards Wilson Chandler and Mike Muscala and 2021 and 2023 second-round picks to the Clippers (via the Detroit Pistons) in the trade. Center Boban Marjanovic and forward Mike Scott were shipped to the Sixers.

"We are in the unique position to contend now and we think this trade positions us well for the postseason," Sixers general manager Elton Brand said in a statement. "Tobias is one of the best three-point shooters in the NBA and possesses an innate ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor, while Boban and Mike provide valuable skillsets, size and depth to our team. All three players bring high character to our locker room and we are excited about their fit alongside Joel, Ben, Jimmy and our entire roster."
The Clippers (30-25) wanted to move themselves into contention as players in the marketplace for stars wanting to get to the Los Angeles market, and the picks could go a long way to building a significant arsenal. The Clippers didn't make the deal specifically to pursue New Orleans Pelicans center Anthony Davis, sources said, but for star players like him who invariably become available in the marketplace.

Davis included the Clippers on a list of teams he would be willing to commit to long term if traded, but Clippers president Lawrence Frank and general manager Michael Winger didn't make Wednesday's trade with the primary objective to pursue Davis, league sources said. New Orleans could have interest in the Clippers' assets prior to Thursday's trade deadline -- and perhaps again in the offseason if Davis remains on the Pelicans' roster.

It is the second significant deal of the season for Brand, a first-year GM who brought Butler and then Harris to the Sixers' lineup. Along with Butler, Harris will be a free agent this summer, and the Sixers plan to be aggressive in re-signing him to an extension, league sources said.
The Clippers considered Harris, 26, close to a max-level player in the marketplace, and that would've been difficult for them to afford with the franchise's lofty free-agent aspirations. The Clippers are planning to pursue several All-NBA-caliber players, including Toronto Raptors forward Kawhi Leonard. The Clippers have salary-cap space to sign two maximum-contract players.

Harris is having his best NBA season, averaging 20.9 points on 50 percent shooting from the field and 43 percent from the 3-point line.
The trade improved the Sixers' odds of winning the NBA title from 16-1 to 10-1 at the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook. Philadelphia's odds of winning the Eastern Conference also jumped from 5-1 to 9-4 at the SuperBook.

The Sixers traded for the Miami pick on draft night, a selection that originally was included in the Phoenix Suns' acquisition of Goran Dragic in 2014.

Alice Marie Johnson Lands Book Deal After Getting Sentence Commuted
NEW YORK (AP) — An inmate whose life sentence was commuted thanks in part to the efforts of Kim Kardashian West has a book deal, along with deals for film and television rights.

Harper, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, announced Wednesday that Alice Marie Johnson’s “After Life: My Journey From Incarceration to Freedom” comes out May 21. Kardashian West contributed a foreword to what Harper is calling an “honest, faith-driven memoir” and a “deep look into the systemic issue of mass incarceration.” Film, television and “life rights” were sold to Endeavor Content and One Community.
“I feel humbled that the telling of my story gives hope and my years of pain were not in vain,” Johnson said in a statement.

“My life has forever changed because of Alice Marie Johnson,” Kardashian West said in statement. “Her story is a gift that will now reach so many millions more through her book and film. I hope Alice’s case is just the beginning of a movement to help those left behind. I am invested in continuing to support Alice and this cause.”

Financial terms for Johnson’s book and film and television deals were not disclosed
Johnson, 63, served more than two decades of a life sentence without parole for non-violent offenses before President Donald Trump commuted her sentence last year. Kardashian West personally lobbied him in the Oval Office, a meeting which Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner helped arrange. Last December, Trump signed bipartisan legislation that gives judges more discretion when sentencing some drug offenders and boosts prisoner rehabilitation efforts. On Tuesday night, Johnson was among those invited to sit with first lady Melania Trump and Trump family members at the State of the Union address.

“Alice’s story underscores the disparities and unfairness that can exist in criminal sentencing — and the need to remedy this total injustice,” Trump said during his speech as Johnson, wiping tears from her face, received a standing ovation. “Alice, thank you for reminding us that we always have the power to shape our own destiny.”
