Jermaine Dupri: Sometimes Mariah Carey Doesn’t Take Her Career “As Seriously As She Should
Mariah Carey has won multiple Grammy Awards, has platinum selling records and has one of the best voices in the music industry. But over the past year, a string of bad performances, adequate vocals and a low charting album has led to what seems to be never ending criticism for the singer.
But according to rapper/producer Jermaine Dupri, the media isn’t the only one to blame for some of the pop star’s negative press. “From both sides I think it’s like you in the business you have to pay attention to everything,” JD told HipHollywood when asked how he feels about the singer’s latest criticism. “There’s some artists out there that aren’t as serious as they are supposed to be and I think sometimes Mariah doesn’t take it as seriously as she should.”

He continued, “I think that is where the criticism comes from because people expect you to put it at a level they ain’t even suppose to be able touch. Sometimes when you don’t do that, that’s where the criticism comes from.”

Dupri, who produced several of the signer’s albums and has worked with the star for over a decade, added, “Sometimes I think the media is a little too hard on Mariah, but at the same time I think sometimes she has to pay attention to that and say ‘I’m going to be one hundred times more serious than I feel like being right now.'”

“When you been in it [the music industry] this long, yeah, you wake up some mornings you don’t feel like putting your all into something and you feel like just because you got a name people are going to go with the flow. But the way the world is now, people got something to say about everything. You just have to be on your p’s and q’s at all times.”

JD went on to say that he loves that Mariah is currently doing a residency in Las Vegas and that “ain’t nobody going to break our records. That’s never going to happen.”

Laverne Cox explains troubles of dating while Trans
Laverne Cox is arguably the most famous transgender celebrity on the planet and she’s also regarded as one of the most beautiful and glamorous trans women in the world as well. With all of those accolades, you’d think it would be easier for her than some of her other trans sisters to find love. However, Cox explains in a new interview that, like many other trans people, she still struggles with stigma and discrimination when it comes to the dating scene.

In a new cover feature for Bust magazine, Cox opens up about a long-term relationship she had with a man that ended because of his shame over being with a trans woman.

“There’s a man that I was involved with on and off for eight years,” cox explained. “I never met any of his friends or family. We barely even went out in public together, so that tells you the nature of the relationship. What’s deep to me about that is that I think I had this fantasy that once I was famous and accepted by society, this guy would be like, ‘Oh, I’m dating Laverne. I can show her off now.’ And it’s actually the opposite of that. He’s engaged to someone else now.”

Although the experience was obviously heartbreaking for Cox, she explains that, over time, she learned to understand that the problem wasn’t her; it was her ex’s insecurities.

“What I realized is it’s not about me,” she says. “It’s actually about that man’s shame around being attracted to me. And his own issues of being seen as less of a man. He has deep, deep, deep insecurities. There are many men who date transgender women and who engage with us only sexually and don’t want anyone to know about it. They’re straight identified, and there’s a huge stigma around men who are attracted to and have sex with and date trans women. They’re arguably even more stigmatized than we are.”

Cox has also learned to be wiser when it comes to choosing men.

“I used to believe that if I was smart enough, if I was good enough, if I were pretty enough, that this man all of a sudden would love me and want to fully integrate me into his life,” she adds. “What I have come to learn is that it does not matter how successful I am, how accomplished I am, how smart I am, how good in bed I am. None of that matters if a man is just not available. I cannot choose those people. I have to choose differently.”

We’re glad that Cox learned those valuable lessons, though, we wish society’s views on gender and sexuality would change so that not only would trans people to be seen as normal, sexual human beings who deserve love, but also that heterosexual people would be allowed to find love with trans people and not have their sexuality questioned.

Young Thug’s Road Manager Arrested For Lil Wayne Tour Bus Shooting
The man accused of shooting at Lil Wayne’s tour bus has finally been arrested. Jimmy Carlton Winfrey, 25, turned himself into police in Atlanta this morning (June 2).
Winfrey reportedly has ties to Weezy rival Young Thug. Allegedly, he is Thugger’s road manager and will be charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, possession of a firearm by a felon, and criminal gang activity, according to TMZ.

Wayne’s tour bus was shot up back in April after a performance/party at the Compound nightclub in Atlanta. Word on the street is that Winfrey opened fired to get more props with the Bloods.
Yes, Weezy is reportedly a Blood member as well, so this is all very confusing, but it probably makes sense considering the struggle that is Cash Money, lately.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Winfrey is currently on probation stemming from a drug possession conviction in Florida late last year.
Let’s keep the beef strictly in song, fell

Oscar de la Renta’s was generous to everyone in his EXCEPT HIS SON!
Legendary Dominican couturier Oscar de la Renta died on Oct. 20, 2014, at age 82, following a battle with cancer. Details of his will have been made public regarding his $26 million estate. It reveals he left a hefty chunk to his wife, Annette Engelhard, whom he married in 1989, including a $13 million, apartment in New York City on Manhattan’s posh Park Avenue, a $2.8 million home in Kent, Connecticut, and his estate in the Dominican Republic.

His only son, Moises, 30, an orphan, was adopted in 1983 by the designer following the death of his first wife, Françoise de Langlade. The pair had a falling out in 2009 when Moises announced he was creating his own collection, MDLR Black — which would “bring the de la Renta aura to a younger crowd.” Oscar criticized his son’s collection in an interview with New York magazine saying, “Moises did a little line, five or six pieces. But that doesn’t make a fashion designer.”

Moises and Oscar’s three stepchildren will split the remainder of the estate. It’s reported if Moises attempts to contest the will, he will be cut off completely.

Oscar’s son-in-law Alex Bolen operates as chief executive officer, and step-daughter Eliza Bolen serves as vice president of licensing, at Oscar de la Renta, LLC.

A philanthropist, the designer established La Casa del Nino for underprivileged children in his native Dominican Republic in 1982. He was dubbed an unofficial ambassador.

Oscar de la Renta was beloved by royalty, first ladies and Hollywood celebs.

The Celebs Came out to The 2015 CFDA Awards
Celebs love a reason to get glammed up in custom threads from top designers.  It explains why the CFDA Awards are one of the hottest tickets in town

Kanye West arrived at the 2015 CFDA Fashion Awards at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center with his pregnant wife Kim Kardashian.  As usual, he put her front and center to show off.  Kim is taking full advantage of showing off her bod before that belly pops and she starts that shoe and smothering clothes struggle again.
The newest GLAMOUR cover girl rocked a sheer black embellished dress by Proenza Schouler, while Kanye rocked his usual everyday look.

The Wests' camera time was invaded by the Williams fam -- Pharrell and his wife Helen.
People are also talking about whether that's a baby bump we see on Helen. Is the couple expecting their second child?  Time will tell, but they are notoriously private about their personal lives and their 6-year-old kiddie Rocket.
By the way, Pharrell was on hand to receive the Fashion Icon Award.  Congrats!

Kanye also smiled it up with Fern Mallis, the former Executive Director of the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
Cutie Jhene Aiko went the grown and chic route in this red hot gown by Prabal Gurung as she posed it up with the designer himself.
Pretty.
We see Taraji P. Henson has perfected that smize of hers.
Rocking a custom oxblood Vera Wang creation and and Gianvito Rossi shoes, all topped of with Maxior Joias earrings.

Janelle Monae is absolutely fabulous each and every time she steps out.  In keeping with her signature look, the singer rocked a custom caped Tadashi Shoji design in white and gold for the event.  And she even showed off those killer legs.
Gorge.  Janelle nailed her first CFDA appearance.  She told People about how her look came together saying:

“When brainstorming with Tadashi and my stylist Maeve Reilly, we were inspired by a black-and-gold cape jacket from his collection,” Monae tells PEOPLE exclusively about her outfit. “We decided to recreate it into a white-and-gold cape dress, since I had never done a cape-dress look. We wanted to really embrace Tadashi’s aesthetic and incorporate my signature style elements mixed with enchantment, regality and wonder — all in one look. This was the perfect marriage, and I’m so happy with the final result.”
And the "Yoga" singer posed it up with Mr. Shoji himself.

Also in a gold mood was E!'s Alicia Quarels.  She styled up her custom Kim Mesches dress with beaded ankle strap Joyce Echols shoes and an oversized Cesare Paciotti clutch.
Pretty!
June Ambrose brightened up the carpet in this gorgeous red Zac Posen gown and a turban with art design by Donald Robertson.
Stunning.
The models also took over the carpet:
Joan Smalls was on hand after dressing up like Pharrell for the CFDA Journal.
Liya Kebede showed up in a pretty printed Altuzarra dress and shoes also by the designer.   Joseph Altuzarra was also at the event as her date, and not Jake Gyllenhaal....the reportedly recently separated model's newest RUMORED boo.
And Alek Wek is still keeping it chic at events.
Designer Tracey Reese rocked her own flirty design.
And Tinashe and her oversized cardigan found her way inside the event as well....
Cute!

Virginia Tech Student Sentenced 45 Years For Killing Lesbian Lover
Don’t wear sweatpants on date night. Keep reading to find out why…
Via People: A former Virginia Tech student was sentenced to 45 years in prison for murdering a fellow student.
During her sentencing, Jessica Michelle Ewing, 24, described in detail what happened during the fateful “date night” of Feb. 7, 2014, when Ewing strangled Samanata Shrestha, 21, to death.

Ewing admitted to being disappointed when she showed up at Shrestha’s apartment wearing a dress and carrying whipped cream and wine, only to find Shrestha in sweats, according to The Roanoke Times.
Still, they had a good evening together and even ended up having sex after drinking a bottle of wine.

But things turned sour when Ewing made what she called a “poor teasing comment,” calling Shrestha a “spoiled b—-.”
The two began to fight and Ewing ended up strangling Shrestha after she said she was just “experimenting” with Ewing.

“I loved Sam – I couldn’t believe she would say that I was some experiment to her,” Ewing said. “It hit me where I was most hurt.”
People kill each other over the most petty and asinine things. SMH

Drake Allegedly BACKED Out Of Jay Z’s TIDAL for Apple’s New Music Streaming Service
Music streaming services are the latest trend in the music and Internet space with an array of platforms to choose from such as Spotify, Pandora, and most recently, Jay Z’s artist-owned TIDAL to rock out to your favorite tunes.

Well today, we learned Drake was originally supposed to be apart of the 16 artist partners (including Beyonce, Kanye West, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, to name a few) for TIDAL, according to Billboard. But get this, the Young Money rapper had a change of heart TWO (yes, two) days before the launch event in NYC back in March. Why?

It appears Drizzy may have backed out on the TIDAL deal to collaborate with Apple’s upcoming streaming service, set to be announced during the 2015 Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco next week (June 8-12).

Industry insiders suggest Drizzy, Pharrell Williams and French DJ David Guetta will sign on as guest DJs for the iTunes Radio overhaul. Oh..and those rumors about Apple paying Drake $19 milli to ink the deal appear to not be true. A Billboard source explains, “Apple doesn’t normally pay artists for those types of collaborations.”

We can’t help but wonder if the “6 God” rapper had a deal with TIDAL that similar to his labelmate Nicki Minaj. We all know Jay likes to negotiate and strategize, so did the two rappers make a sweet deal to benefit them both?

Drizzy may have agreed to be featured on Beyonce's tracks (they collaborated on “Mine” for her self-titled album) in exchange for her hopping on a track of his (which she did for Drizzy’s track “Can I,” supposedly being featured on his upcoming Views from the 6 LP). As you know, Nicki and Bey similarly joined forces on Bey's "Flawless" and Nicki's "Feeling Myself."

Guess we will find out if Drake will be riding the wave with Apple next week. Stay tuned...

HA! Geriatric Channing Tatum Surprises Fans At “Magic Mike XXL” Fake Screening
Always up for a good practical joke, Channing Tatum put on a grandpa disguise and showed up at a promotional event for his new movie “Magic Mike XXL” in Los Angeles.

The “She’s the Man” hunk posted a video online and explained, “I’m rounding out the boys to go to the premiere of Magic Mike XXL, and I want you to come with me. So to give you a little preview, we’ve gathered an unsuspecting group of Magic Mike fans and we’re going to show them the movie in 3D.”

“To give the fans the best show possible, I’m gonna go undercover and make sure that happens.” From there, Channing transforms into ‘Scott Galsey,’ a supposed marketing executive who asks the sample audience about their likes and dislikes regarding the first “Magic Mike” flick.
