Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. TLC’s Founding Member Crystal Jones Reacts To TLC Biopic: ‘I’m Very Disappointed,’ Tells Her Side Of The Story
When the TLC biopic “CrazySexyCool” aired a few nights ago on VH1, old school fans were surprised to see that before Chilli joined the group, there was an original member named Crystal who didn’t make the cut. In the movie, Crystal got the boot after the girls auditioned for LA Reid and Pebbles, and they made it seem as though she couldn’t sing if her life depended on it. Of course Crystal was beyond disappointed with the way she was portrayed, and she stopped by Atlanta radio station, V-103 with Ryan Cameron to tell her side of the story.
Sitting next to her former manager Ian Burke, who helped her form the original TLC group, Crystal said she got cut from the trio by Pebbles because she refused to sign those bogus contracts without her mother looking at them first. Ian also chimed in to say that even though he enjoyed the movie for entertainment purposes, they got real creative with some elements of the story. For one, he said Jermaine Dupri played a huge role in the girls developing their sound and that the ladies only met through himself and Rico Wade. He also said when Lisa first auditioned, he told her “No.”

Catch a few highlights:

On how Crystal was portrayed in the film and her audition
Crystal Jones: I was very disappointed. Very disappointed. The way they portrayed me was very inaccurate and it brought up a lot of wounds that I kind of put to rest a long time ago. To see it and to go back through that and relive it again didn’t sit well with me.[...]For one, we never auditioned for LA. We auditioned for Pebbles at Seriously Sound Studios. And the song that we used was a song that was produced by Jermaine Dupri that was called “I Got It Going On.” We auditioned for her. She felt a liking to us and wanted to continue meeting up with us, having dinners with us. We would meet at her house, go through magazines, images.

It’s a Hollywood story. They’re gonna tell it the way that they see it. But as far as what happened, and I’m sure everybody wants to know, it was based on the contract. When we got to the lawyer’s office, it was myself, Tionne, and Lisa sitting there. Keep in mind we’re 18, 19-year-olds, okay? By that time they had already taken us away from Ian–I won’t say how–but they had already gotten us away from his management contract. So we’re sitting there and I’m going through the paperwork and it’s lengthy and I didn’t understand anything. So I turned and looked at Pebbles and I said, ‘Can I take it home and have my mom take a look at it because I really don’t understand what I’m reading?’ She said, ‘No! Absolutely not!’ So I didn’t sign it.

So she didn’t tell you to beat right after the audition like in the movie last night?

Crystal: No. Absolutely not.

Ian: This group was not put together as a singing group. One of the other things that I wanted to make sure that I mentioned was TLC was never just another singing group. We put TLC together to start a movement. Because before TLC, you never saw any other female groups wearing baggy clothes or having a female rapper in the group. It was nonexistent. You had En Vogue. You had The Good Girls. You had Exposé. SWV was actually called TLC before but when the actual TLC came out, they had to change their name to Sisters With Voices. My whole thing was not to get a bunch of singers but to form that hot female group. But I will say this, Crystal does not sound as bad as they portrayed her on the show last night.

Crystal: My thing is, if I sing that bad, why would you offer me a contract?

On how TLC got together
Ian Burke: The whole way the girls got together was totally fictitious. That was the main thing that stood out to me. A lot of people, a lot of key essential people, not just essential to the movie but essential to the Atlanta music scene, were left out. I felt like that could have been done a little better, but overall I thought that they did a good job providing entertainment for people to see.

That creative license and they do what they do, and I’m not mad at that. Four women went to pursue their dreams even though one of the women’s situations was short-lived, you can’t deny her her part in the building of this success story.

I honestly feel like it should have been like they did the Jacksons or the Temptations, a two-day mini-story, because of the fact that things were left out. It’s a lot to squeeze in two hours. I don’t fault anybody by that, it’s just the whole creative license thing. I do want to say, everybody’s asking how did the group get together. It was the brainchild of myself and Crystal. I was managing Crystal at the time, myself and my partner Kenneth Kade who actually introduced me to Jermaine Dupri back in the day. We came up with this thing of doing the female version of BBD, and it was actually Rico Wade who years later became prominent as a member of Organized Noize and actually did one of their biggest records, “Waterfalls.” He was the one who brought Lisa to the audition and I actually said no to Lisa. I felt like…she came in a dress. I was looking for girls that were tomboyish. So I actually said no to Lisa. So I went to the back to talk to Rico and the guys and Crystal sat up front with Lisa, and Lisa rapped for Crystal. Then Crystal came back and said, ‘Yo man, you really need to hear her rap.’ I was like, ‘Crystal, she’s not fitting the mold. I don’t think it’s gonna work.’ She said, ‘I need you to listen.’ And I listened and I was like, ‘Yeah. You’re in the group.’ ‘Cause she was dope. She had that Monie Love quick tongue. The only thing that bothered me with her was the way she was dressed. She said, ‘I thought this is what you wanted, but I usually wear baggy clothes. This is what I’m comfortable with.’

After that Rico was supposed to bring Tionne to the meeting. She couldn’t make it that night. I actually had my group together. I had Crystal, Lisa, and another Lisa that was in the group but I was determined to meet this girl because Rico was like, ‘Yo, she’s definitely the one.’ So we went to this woman’s house at two o’ clock in the morning, knocked on her door and when she opened the door I said ‘You don’t even have to sing. That’s it.’ She didn’t have no makeup on. Fresh out of the bed wiping the sleep out of her eyes and I just saw the star that Tionne is. She sang even though she had a cold. ‘You’re in the group. This is your thing.’

The last thing I want to say is another pivotal person that was missing was Jermaine Dupri. It was Jermaine who made Tionne sing in that lower register. He was like, ‘We gotta change this whole thing around.’ She didn’t like it at first but it became her signature sound. Therefore becoming the signature sound of TLC. And I’m just like, how could you leave that? It was pivotal. I’m watching how they had it unfold on TV and it made me grimace.

On whether or not she regrets not signing that contract
Crystal: I’ve grown, I’ve matured, so I’m fine with everything now. I’ve kind of gotten over all the hurt a long time ago, but everything happens for a reason and it wasn’t meant for me. But I feel very blessed that I was able to bring forth

On her upcoming book
Crystal: Yes I have a collection of memoirs that I’m currently working on. It’s not a book about TLC, it’s a book about my journey and the things that I’ve been through in life, and TLC is a pivotal part of it.

You can catch the interview over at V-103.

The Celebs not congratulating Kim Kardashian and Kanye West on their engagement
Celebs not congratulating Kim Kardashian and Kanye West

While a plethora of people are congratulating Kim Kardashian and Kanye West on their decision to tie the knot, others wouldn’t be caught dead sending their best wishes to the couple. So far, stars like Rachel Roy, La La Anthony and Kim’s famed sisters have publicly congratulated “Kimye” on social media with heartfelt messages.
By contrast a number of Kim’s and Kanye’s famous exes have remained mum and will presumably stay that way.

We previously noted that stars like Pink, Reese Witherspoon and Anna Wintour would rather not congratulate the couple on the birth of their daughter, below are just a few of the people who won’t congratulating them on their engagement.

Reggie Bush
Reggie Bush previously slammed reports that he would congratulate Kim on the birth of her baby so it makes sense that he wouldn’t congratulate her on her engagement.
When asked if he would reach out to the star after she gave birth Bush said,“No, we’ve been focused on the future. I haven’t been worried about anything else or on anything in the past. Just the present and the future.”
Bush and his fiancee, Lilit Avagyan, welcomed a baby girl just months before Kim gave birth to a daughter, North.

Kris Humphries
Not a Kardashian fan in the slightest, Kim’s ex-husband, Kris Humphries, will likely decline to congratulate the couple. The NBAer’s father, William Humphries, told the New York Daily News that his son was aloof about the engagement news and focusing on his basketball career.
“I’m sure he doesn’t think about that stuff anymore. He’s getting ready to play,” said the elder Humphries.
Kris recently sold the engagement ring he gave Kim for $749,000 at auction.

Brooke Crittendon
Kanye West’s ex-girlfriend, Brooke Crittendon, has publicly expressed doubts about his relationship with Kardashian and recently told The Sun that she doubts they’ll last.
“There’s Halle Berry, J. Lo and Beyonce but they are all taken,” said Crittendon. “[Kim Kardashian] fits into his brand. Part of being untouchable is having what other people want. It’s about saying, ‘Everybody wants her and she wants me.’ That makes sense in Kanye’s world.”

“In Hollywood, you cannot say ‘forever,’ ” she added. “Them being together satisfies them for now. Having a baby ticks a box. She wanted kids and it’s his legacy….OH WELLS!

ROBIN THICKE & PAULA PATTON The Next Brangelina?
Robin Thicke and Paula Patton continue to put up a united front! Here they are leaving their hotel in NYC. LOVE that sweater dress she’s wearing. What do you think of the pink ribbons with the blue shoes? Paula definitely seems to be a fan of the tights and colorful shoes look! Her father-in-law, Alan Thicke, says he has high hopes for his son and daughter-in-law with all of their professional success.
Alan told Us Weekly that he advised his son:
“I told [Robin], ‘You’re a power couple now. If you only adopt a few Ethiopian kids, you’d be the next Brangelina.’”
OMG! I’m sure Alan was joking. I’m not sure adoption is the way to raise one’s profile, but Robin and Paula do seem devoted to each other and their son, Julian. That’s enough for me to make them a favorite Hollywood couple!

Eminem blasted by openly gay musicians over 'Rap God' lyrics
Eminem continues to get a bad rap over the controversial lyrics in his new single, “Rap God,” that critics branded as homophobic.

"When he invited me on his radio station a few years ago, I thought he put all of this aside," said openly gay hip-hop singer Solomon in a statement.

LastO, pictured in a video for ‘Jack Frost' freestyle, is among the openly gay performers to slam Eminem for his lyrics on ‘Rap God.’

"Granted, it's not directed towards the gay community, but subconsciously it is. He's using the word f-ggot to degrade another man. As if the worst thing a man can be is gay. What type of message does that embed into the minds of young kids, both gay and straight?"

Soloman’s SolRay Records labelmate LastO, who is also openly gay, added: “He's a lil' too old to be using gay and f-g and sh-- as an insult; playground s---.”

‘F-g? Is this really recovery talk or are you running your own program these days?’ Boy George tweeted at Eminem last week.  ‘Really unhelpful.’
At the heart of the controversy are lines like: "Little gay-looking boy/So gay I can barely say it with a straight face-looking boy." There are also more explicit slurs peppered over the six-minute track.

Eminem had seemed to rebound from the backlash over his 2000 song, “Criminal,” which was condemend by GLAAD at the time. In 2001, he had a high-profile duet with the openly gay Elton John at the Grammy Awards, and nine years later, he sat down for a frank interview on the subject with CNN’s Anderson Cooper.
Last week, Boy George added to the outrage over “Rap God.”
"I haven't heard the record, I just object to the term, 'f-g," the former Culture Club frontman tweeted.

Diddy opens up about his Father being a Drug Dealer!
It’s a big step to open up to people, so we commend Diddy for sharing his story. He taped his segment titled, “Confessions” in his apartment, explaining how although he barely knew his dad, Melvin still had a big influence in his life.
“They say you can’t miss something you never had, but that’s only a little ways right. There’s definitely been times as I’ve gotten older that I’ve missed my father–his presence–not being here… There’s things that you would ask your father. There’s also things that you would celebrate with him that would make him proud.”
Combs was quite honest about his father’s career. He lost his life at the age of 33 when Diddy was merely a 3-year-old. He credits those experiences as his motivation to do something positive with his own life.
“I have his hustler’s mentality, his hustler’s spirit, his drive, his determination, his swag.”

That determination definitely paid off for the Bad Boy Records CEO.
