Janelle Monae is rocking the October/November 2013 cover of UPTOWN Magazine.
The Electric Lady sat down with the mag over in Paris. And gushed about all things chic and girly girl:
“I love it here,” she says. “Parisians are so warm, welcoming and dangerous. I feel like a beetle that is carefully held and protected in Paris. They are so fun and free and crazy. Plus, Claude Monet actually stole my name and put an ‘e’ and a ‘t’ on it, which stands for ‘extra terrestrial.’ There are a lot of weird things going on over here in Paris, but I can dig it.”
And about why she stays so mysterious:
“It is my goal to mislead you into believing one thing,” she continues with her best sense of irony. When talking with Janelle Monáe, I must warn you, metaphorical winks come in such rapid-fire succession that only later do you realize that you are struck. And not from a shocking crimson drip, à la Walter White; it’s more of a delayed Big O “aha” moment. “There has to be some misinformation out there about Janelle Monáe,” she teases.
And about those misconceptions:
People think I am so straitlaced and buttoned up. There is a lot of life underneath this tuxedo. I like to have fun. I enjoy practical jokes. I enjoy rolling around the mall in wheelchairs. I enjoy taking someone’s baby and putting it on my hip for about two hours straight and then giving it back.

Tamar Braxton Has Choice Words for Naysayers & Critics, ‘I don’t have time to talk you into liking me!’
It appears that Tamar Braxton is catching a bit of heat for displaying some shaky vocals recently. While we can’t put our finger on the exact performance that folk are referring to, the ‘Braxton Family Values‘ reality star is not letting it stop her progress. Wednesday morning, she hopped on twitter, penning a few tweets about how far she’s come in this game and why she refuses to stop anytime soon. She wrote:
Sometimes the devil will try & trick your mind to make you think you are loosing when you are clearly winning.#dontfallforit#GodisSoGood … I waited my WHOLE life 4this moment….& I have NEVER had this many voice issues. Its embarrassing &hurtful but ive come 2 far 2 give up now…say whatever u like.
She added:
Talk about how bad u think things r & How I should change this or that. But, im no where near where I was a year ago..I dont have time 2 talk u into liking me or understanding me. Solange Knowles Flaunts Her Legs At EBAY Collections Event, Reveals R&B Compilation With Cassie & Others
Solo has never been shy to flex those killer legs for the cameras. So she helped Ebay announce their new 'Collections' feature, a Pinterest-like tool that will update the website and make it more current, while rocking black super short-shorts and a buttoned up printed blouse.
She snapped a pic with host and newlywed Pharrell too. Cute!

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Makes Slave Reparations Joke On Twitter, Apologizes [PHOTOS]
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution found themselves "poppin' ish and apologizing" with a failed joke attempt that would send Michael Richards into post-traumatic shock. The city of Powder Springs recently celebrated the luck of lottery winner who is now a $1 million richer but but whoever was running the AJC's Twitter account took things a little too far.
When announcing the news, they stated, “1M GA winner Willie Lynch can get 40 acres and a whole lotta mules.” Wowzers.
The tweet has since been deleted and back-peddling measures have been taken, but in the age of the Internets, nothing gets removed for good. To be fair, the lottery winner's name is Willie Lynch, the mythical godfather of the slave trade, and the opportunity for the joke was wider than Canal Street in New York. But sometimes letting the easy ones slide is the best plan of action.

Shopping While Black: Barney’s And The Nypd Get Sued For Racist Profiling
With Jay Z curating for the high end retailer, you would think Barney’s would respect a young baller. But unforntuantly for Trayvon Christian that just wasn’t the case.
19 year old Trayvon Christian is suing Barney’s and the NYPD after being accused of credit card fraud. All the brotha wanted was a little Ferragamo in his life. After checking out his favorite rapper, Juelz Santana with a $349 Salvatore Ferragamo belt, Christian saved up money from his part time job to buy the belt.
Christian went to purchase his belt at the Madison Avenue Barney’s location. After completing his transaction he was stopped by an undercover cop who took him into custody for credit card fraud. According to Christian:
“The detectives were asking me, ‘How could you afford a belt like this? Where did you get this money from,’” Christian told The New York Daily News. He was taken into custody, but was later released after police discovered his card was indeed real. Disgusted by the whole incident, Trayon returned the belt: “ I got my money back, I’m not shopping there again,” he said. “It’s cruel. It’s racist.”
Is it so hard to believe that a young black man can make an honest living? Just when we thought the racial equality gap was closing, situations like this take us back 50 years. Hope Barney’s and other high end stores will think next time they walk this fine racial profiling line. A DAMN SHAME!
Royal Baby ‘Prince George’ Gets Christened
The Royal Baby Prince George was christened yesterday. Proud parents Kate Middleton and Prince William were delighted. The christening took place at St. James Palace in London, England. George‘s christening robe was a replica of an original made of Honiton lace lined with white satin, created in 1841 for Queen Victoria’s eldest daughter. The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby, christened the three-month-old little guy in a 45-minute ceremony at the Chapel Royal.

Supa’ Freak: 2 Chainz Wants To Make A Sex Tape
What is wrong with this fool?
Rapper 2 Chainz is one of few in the business that actually graduated college, but sometimes we question his intelligence. It’s usually a good idea to have a back up plan in case your career doesn’t work out, but 2 Chainz’ second option has us raising our eyebrows.
This is what he’s thinking about doing. According to sources, the rapper wants to make a sex tape for extra cash.
2 Chainz, whose real name is Tauheed Epps, is hoping the venture will make him a very rich man and make sure all his future mistakes are covered financially.
He tells Playboy magazine, “I want to put out a freaky flick in the next five to 10 years and reap all the benefits in case I spend my hard-earned rap money doing boneheaded activities.”
He has a few ideas on who he’d like to star in the film with him.
“I hate to say this, but I think Iggy Azalea’s dope.”
He also wouldn’t be opposed to romancing his ‘Beez In The Trap’ collaborator Nicki Minaj: “Yeah, I’d do that.”
We’re not quite sure they’d be willing to jump in bed with him or if his fiancee will be cool with that.
Kelly Rowland's Father Begs For a Reunion
Two years ago Kelly Rowland and her father, Christopher Lovett, made plans to see each other for the first time in 23 years
The meeting never happened but Kelly's father is still holding out hope...
Kelly's dad tells Star Magazine,
''So many previous years have passed and I'm getting old. I just pray she comes back into my life before it's too late.''
He just may get his wish.
Kelly spoke about the situation recently telling Essence Magazine,
“I haven’t [seen my father]. I don’t know what’s stopping me because I’ve had opportunities. But it really is time. I probably need to ask my therapist about it.”
Hopefully Kelly will answer.
