#RHOA: Alums Nene Leakes and Cynthia Bailey Announce Their Feud Is Over
NeNe Leakes and Cynthia Bailey have ended their feud. The Real Housewives of Atlanta alums reunited on Monday, October 16, at an Atlanta Life Insurance event hosted by Magic Johnson in the A-T-L and it was all love.
“Listen chile…I told y’all I stepped out the other nite and bumped into several other people but what I didn’t tell you is that I bumped into The Cynthia Bailey hunni,” Leakes, 56, wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, October 18, alongside a photo of her and Bailey, 56, smiling.
While Leakes initially joked that she had to “read [Cynthia] down,” she later clarified that the anger from the past is gone.
“No No No really, y’all know I can’t hold a grudge for too long!,” Leakes continued. “We literally laughed our asses off! I am talking burst out loud ghetto laughter hunni.”
Bailey, meanwhile, reposted the same photo via her own Instagram. “Always nothing but love & laughter when I see “THE ONE” @neneleakes! yes, we have been through our ups and downs, but the love was always real,” the Celebrity Big Brother star captioned the post.. “Life is precious and way too short. i cherish all the incredible & UNFORGETABLE memories. moving forward in love, peace & always laughter.”
Problems between the two longtime friends began when Leakes accused Bailey of conspiring with other housewives to get her fired from RHOA following season 12 during a July episode of Carlos King‘s “Reality With the King” podcast.
Two days later, Bailey denied the accusation
“I don’t have the power to get NeNe Leakes fired from anything. I couldn’t get NeNe Leakes fired from Taco Bell, okay?,” she said on the Tamra Judge and Teddi Mellencamp podcast “Two Ts in a Pod.” She added that if she has “all this power, how am I not even on the show anymore? Make it make sense.”
The following week, Leakes said that she was repairing her relationship with Bailey.
“For me, I’m in a respectful place with her,” she told The Messenger in August. “From my end, we’re good. We’re just not good friends anymore, and that’s okay. We had many, many beautiful years of friendship, and that’s just not where we are now.”
The two women are seemingly ready to uphold their previous promise to each other. During a season 3 episode of RHOA, Bailey gifted Leakes a candle, and said, “This is a one year contract. You can’t break it unless you send a notarized letter saying you want to void the contract. She added, “We have to have rules. This is a serious thing for me.”
Leakes reluctantly signed the document, and now five years later, the contract appears to be valid again.

Michigan State apologizes for displaying picture of Adolf Hitler on the videoboard before a football game
Michigan State University apologized for displaying a picture of Adolf Hitler on the videoboard during a trivia quiz before the school’s football game against in-state rivals the University of Michigan on Saturday.
Photos began circulating on social media before kickoff of Hitler on the videoboard at Spartan Stadium with a trivia question asking where he was born.
“MSU is aware that inappropriate content by a third-party source was displayed on the videoboard prior to the start of tonight’s football game,” Michigan State athletic director Matt Larson said in a statement. “We are deeply sorry for the content that was displayed, as this is not representative of our institutional values.”
The university will stop using the third-party source the image came from and implement stronger screening procedures for all videoboard content going forward, Larson added.
In an email sent to alumni Sunday entitled, “The work we must do,” Michigan State Interim President Teresa K. Woodruff apologized for the image.
“I am deeply sorry for the image displayed at Spartan Stadium, which made many of our community feel alienated and unsafe. It was unacceptable. I asked last evening for a full review of this university event and will take all necessary steps to align our messages and actions to our values,” she said.
“I will work with our Jewish community and every member of minoritized populations to ensure Spartans feel that this is a place where everyone can live, work, go to class and attend events that are welcoming.”
The apology is part of a grim series of events for Michigan State’s football program, which lost Saturday night’s game against its rival Michigan by a 49-0 score. The university has also moved to fire head coach Mel Tucker related to accusations of sexual harassment, just two years after he signed a massive 10-year, $95 million contract.
The trivia also comes amid heightened tensions on many college campuses related to the Israel-Gaza war and amid concerns of rising antisemitism and Islamophobia.
Quiz was part of YouTube video
The quiz was part of a video from a YouTube page called The Quiz Channel, the university said. Videos from the same YouTube page has been used all season before each home game, the school said.
“Prior to last night, the content has not been objectionable,” the school said. “As the statement acknowledges, we will implement stronger screening of all content to better ensure something like this never happens again.”
Floris van Pallandt, the creator of The Quiz Channel, told CNN in an email the university’s use of his channel’s content was unauthorized.
“I was completely unaware of this and only learned content created by me was being used due to this occurrence,” he wrote. “While I provide customised content packages for businesses, the utilisation of my publicly accessible YouTube content for stadium entertainment is highly questionable to say the least.”
Van Pallandt said his channel is now receiving a surge of negative feedback.
“MSU’s subsequent statement appears to allude to a third-party source, which seems to suggest The Quiz Channel as that very source. If this is accurate, that is unacceptable to me, as it is unacceptable for The Quiz Channel to bear reputational, performance, or financial repercussions due to MSU’s unsolicited use of our content,” he wrote.
Further, he defended the question about Hitler’s birthplace as legitimate, if not necessarily in that context.
“The trivia question displayed at the stadium is a legitimate one, and it’s imperative we don’t shy away from history’s more dark facets. Nonetheless, I would certainly not have chosen this particular question for a live stadium audience,” he wrote.
Brian McKnight criticized for changing his name to match with his newborn son
While new additions to the family should be a time of joy, one singer is facing the wrath of social media for changing his name to be in line with his newborn son.
Brian McKnight, a 17-time Grammy nominee and famed singer, has been slammed online after he shared that he had legally changed his name in order to become a senior to his newborn son.
The twist? He was already a senior to his eldest son, Brian McKnight Jr, prior to this.
This is because the singer changed his name to include his newborn’s name in the middle, essentially cancelling out his old Sr for a new Sr title.
McKnight happily declared his son’s name in an Instagram caption on October 20.
He wrote: “So proud to introduce our son BRIAN KAINOA MAKOA JR.”
“To the world with the release of my new album lovingly created for him. JR. because I am also proud to officially announce that I have legally changed my name to exactly match my legacy’s.”
Now, the ‘Back at One’ singer has legally changed his name to Brian Kainoa Makoa McKnight Sr.
After sharing a snap of his 9-month-old son with wife Leilani, the 54-year-old was met with a tidal wave of backlash from both online users and his own children from previous relationships.
His four eldest children, McKnight Jr., Niko, Briana and Clyde, have been gaining sympathy from this name scandal after fans were quick to call the singer out for distancing himself from them.
One person tweeted: “Brian McKnight is so wicked. He changed his last name to Makoa McKnight so he could name his newborn Brian Makoa McKnight Jr., when he already has a son named Brian McKnight Jr.
"Idk how much more wicked one can be."
“I’ve never seen anyone proudly demonstrate how much they hate their children like Brian McKnight,” another chimed in.
“Changing his name to match the new baby when he’s already got a Jr is next level cruel. he’s a trash human being for not only doing it, but also putting it on display to the world.”
Another person had no words to describe their feelings on this matter “This is just…there are no words to describe how much of a vile human being you have to be to hurt your first born son, by doing some mess like this! #BrianMcknight is truly disgusting for this!”
It was only after McKnight Jr. himself took to Instagram to respond to his father’s new name after a fan suggested he change his name as not to be associated with his father.
McKnight Jr. wrote: “I’m not ashamed of the name my ancestors had.
“I’ll never change the name my own son now has. We are witnessing an obscene level of self hate, that has reached mental illness status at this point.”
He said that he will welcome his new brother ‘with open arms one day, once he realizes who his real family is.’
He continued: “Legacy isn’t in the name. It’s in the character of the people. It will all be quite clear soon, just who’s on the right side of all this, because there’s no escaping what’s coming.”
Lupita Nyong'o thanks fans for their support after split from Selema Masekela due to 'deception'
Lupita Nyong'o has ended her romance with Selema Masekela and thanked her fans for their support during the turbulent time.
The former flames met in 2016, but aren't thought to have started dating until last year.
But their relationship was short-lived because of TV host and sports commentator Masekela's alleged 'deception'.
In a lengthy statement shared on Instagram on Friday, October 20, the Black Panther actress said: "There are much more important things going on in the world right now, and my thoughts are with those who are deeply suffering.
"At this moment, it is necessary for me to share a personal truth and publicly dissociate myself from someone I can no longer trust…
"I find myself in a season of heartbreak because of a love suddenly and devastatingly extinguished by deception."
Nyong'o went on: "I am tempted to run into the shadows and hide, only to return to the light when I have regained my strength enough for me to say, 'Whatever, my life is better this way.'
"But I am reminded that the magnitude of the pain I am feeling is equal to the measure of my capacity for love. And so, I am choosing to face the pain, cultivating the courage to meet my life exactly as it is, and trusting that this too shall pass."
The 40-year-old opened up about her break-up in the hopes of it being 'useful to someone else out there experiencing the grip of heartbreak who is poised to try and escape from the pain and miss out on the wisdom that comes from it'.
Celebs such as Vanessa Hudgens, Natasha Bedingfield and Bring It On's Gabrielle Union all voiced their support to the actress in the comments section of her post.
But Nyong'o's fans have also been offering their support in private, and have been messaging the Academy Award winner and even sending her resources to help her through this difficult time.
In light of this, she thanked everyone for their support.
"Thank you for all the kindness I have received from sharing my heartbreak news," she penned to her Instagram Story.
"The words of encouragement mean more to me than I anticipated. They are a balm."
In follow-up Story, Nyong'o continued: "And it feels comforting to have a little corner online for the romantically heartbroken to gather.
"Some of you have shared resources that have helped you move through the pain. Songs, poems, books, quotes... Please continue to do so. I will be sure to share what is resonating for me."
In her follow up posts, Nyong'o proceeded to share some of the quotes she's seen that she found particularly moving alongside the hashtag 'HeartbreakHealing'.
#BoxOfficeNews: Killers of the Flower Moon Is in Its Second Place as Taylor Swift Eras Film is still #1
Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon debuted to an impressive $23 million at the box office this weekend across 3,628 screens, according to Variety. The crime epic starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, and Lily Gladstone, which clocks in at just under three and a half hours, reportedly marks Scorsese’s best opening weekend since 2010’s Shutter Island. Internationally, the film brought in an additional $21 million, racking up a global total of $44 million.
Despite that impressive performance, the film still came in at second place behind Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, which held onto its spot at number one by bringing in $31 million from 3,855 domestic theaters. Wait, that’s 13 backwards…gasp.
Scorsese, of course, is no stranger to the spectacle of a concert film, being that he is best known made an appearance in One Direction’s 2013 documentary concert film, This Is Us. “I’ve been listening to your stuff, I like it,” he told the group, who he visited backstage alongside his daughter Francesca (who now makes films of her own in the form of iconic TikToks starring her father). But luckily for the director, Scorsese didn’t have a film of his own competing with the boy band at the box office that weekend.
Meryl Streep and Husband Don Gummer Have Been Separated for 6 Years
Meryl Streep and husband Don Gummer have separated after 45 years of marriage.
On Saturday, PEOPLE confirmed that the three-time Oscar winner, 74, and Gummer, 76, quietly ended the romantic nature of their relationship six years ago.
“Don Gummer and Meryl Streep have been separated for more than 6 years, and while they will always care for each other, they have chosen lives apart,” a representative for Streep said in a statement to PEOPLE.
Although the pair has not been seen publicly together since the 2018 Oscars, the Only Murders in the Building actress was seen wearing her wedding band as recently as Friday at the 2023 Princesa de Asturias Awards in Spain.
On Sept. 30, she and Gummer celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary.
Gummer, a sculptor from Louisville, Kentucky, met through Streep's brother in 1978. At the time, she was mourning the death of her boyfriend, fellow actor John Cazale, who died of lung cancer.
Meryl Streep and husband Don Gummer at the 4th International Rome Film Festival
Once Streep met Gummer, the two had an instant connection. They married just six months later at her parents’ home.
Throughout the years, neither Streep nor Gummer have said much about their love life, but they have been photographed side-by-side on occasion.
Although Streep began making a name for herself on the big screen, Gummer saw success within the world of art.
As a student at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, he later received an MFA from Yale University, and his work has been featured in exhibitions around the world since the early 1970s.
During a 2002 Vogue interview, Streep gave a rare glimpse into her relationship with Gummer.
According to The Devil Wears Prada star, the secret to their longevity was "goodwill and willingness to bend — and to shut up every once in a while.”
"There's no road map on how to raise a family: It's always an enormous negotiation," she continued.
"But I have a holistic need to work and to have huge ties of love in my life. I can't imagine eschewing one for the other."
Streep and Gummer share four children together: son Henry and daughters Mamie, Grace, and Louisa.
In 1998, Streep told The Washington Post that the role of motherhood was her most challenging one yet!
"Mothering. Definitely. Acting — that's praise, money, fulfillment. Mothering — they don't even say, 'Thank you.' They don't even clear the table unless you say, 'Excuuuse me.' Real life, there's no comparison to acting. I can't really call acting work, since it's secretly so fun. Even the difficult things; it's satisfying to do the difficult things well."
She added, "Acting isn't like real life. Life is about not being sure: Is this the right school for this kid? All those uncertainties."
Though Streep’s private life rarely plays out in front of the cameras, Gummer was the first person she thanked when she received the Best Actress Oscar for her role in The Iron Lady in 2012.
"First, I'm going to thank Don because when you thank your husband at the end of the speech they play him out with the music, and I want him to know that everything I value most in our lives, you've given me," she said

According to Yahoo News via the Associated Press, police revealed that Wayans was cited with the municipal violation in June. Details of the incident were noted by the AP, which referenced the filing.
In the filing, Wayans had three bags with him as he was set to get on a flight to Kansas City. It was then that the comedian was told by a United Airlines gate agent he could not get on the flight with three bags.
Although Wayans complied with airline policy and consolidated his luggage into two bags, the gate agent apparently tried to physically block him from getting on the flight, the filing said. Wayans boarded the plane anyway. He was later asked to get off the plane before it departed.
The court filing further revealed that gate agent allowed white passengers with three bags to board the flight while Wayans rearranged his luggage. About 140 people boarded the flight, the filing stated, adding that many of the passengers had three bags and oversized bags which filed United’s policy.
Included with the fling were still photos of surveillance video of white passengers with yellow arrows pointing to each of their bags. In their filing, Wayans lawyers accused the gate agent of racially discriminating against their client. In continuing to pursue charges against the “White Chicks” star, lawyers stated that Denver prosecutors are perpetuating that discrimination and denying Wayans’ right to equal protection under the law.
“The City of Denver’s position is an affront to constitutional and social equity principles,” Wayans’ lawyers said.
Responding to questions about what happened to Wayans, United issued a statement in June, saying an unnamed customer “pushed past” an employee at the jet bridge and attempted to board the plane. Statements recorded on police body camera and cited in the filing mention the gate agent telling officers that Wayans “shoved” “pushed” or “elbowed” him as the comedian boarded the plane. Wayans’ lawyers responded to the airline’s statement, labeling it a lie and saying “Scary Movie” franchise fixture may have brushed shoulders with the agent as he boarded.
According to the filing, the gate agent asked that charges be pursued, despite investigating officers being doubtful about any crime that had been committed.
Elon Musk Announces New Twitter Subscription Tiers
Elon Musk has announced two tiers of his subscription service days after announcing the company was testing a $1 annual fee.
On Friday, the Tesla founder shared a tweet outlining the additional costs headed to the app.
“Two new tiers of X Premium subscriptions launching soon. One is lower cost with all features, but no reduction in ads, and the other is more expensive but has no ads,” Musk explained.
Twitter, now known as X, rolled out a test in New Zealand and the Philippines earlier this week. The new annual fee for the “Not A Bot” program is apparently meant to cut down on bots and spam on the app. However, it seems that this, along with the latest tier costs, is just another money grab. Back in July, Musk admitted that he had a “heavy debt load” after losing 50% of the advertising cash flow that was coming into the site.
“Need to reach positive cash flow before we have the luxury of anything else,” Musk tweeted at the time.
For this reason, users should expect to spend more money if they wish to continue tweeting. Twitter already has a $8 monthly subscription plan for its X Premium plan. This gives users a blue checkmark and additional features, such as post editing. However, this is only for the desktop version. The app Premium Plan is $11 a month.
Musk hasn’t revealed the new tier costs as of yet.
