#MAGFAB: 'Fellow Travelers' on Showtime Featured in Out Magazine September/October 2023
'Fellow Travelers' on Showtime Explained in Out Magazine September/October 2023
In a fashion story and interview for Out magazine, cover stars Matt Bomer, Jonathan Bailey, Jelani Alladin, and Noah J. Ricketts reflect on the familial bonds formed by the actors in the upcoming limited eight-episodes series ‘Fellow Travelers’, with its premier October 27 on ‘Showtime’.
This fashion story and narrative by Mey Rude was created for Out before the Hollywood actor’s strike.
The quartet is styled by Michael Miller in images by Jason Hetherington [IG]. Brands in the polished, sartorial glamour images include Dior, Fendi, Givenchy, Hermes, Maxime, People of All Nations, Valentino and more.
In the story line of ‘Fellow Travelers’, as narrated by Out:
. . . actors Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey play Hawk Fuller and Tim Laughlin, two men who meet while working in Washington, D.C., at the start of McCarthyism. They fall in love. For Hawk, this means living an existence of discipline and barriers, hiding who he is so he can build a life working in the government. For Tim, it means losing his career and finding a path that allows him to follow his truth.
In order to survive, Hawk and Tim form a chosen family with two other gay men swept up in the big political and cultural changes happening: journalist Marcus Hooks (Jelani Alladin) and drag-queen-turned-activist Frankie Hines (Noah J. Ricketts).
The family configuration seems improbable, but a certain amount of creative license must be taken to communicate one of the most hate-filled and divisive American issues in eight episodes that cover a period of 40 years.
A Den of Denial Among 1950s Men
A mindblowing fact about the focus of the Showtime series ‘Fellow Travelers’ is the probable deceptions between the two leading figures in the purge of homosexuals in the US federal goverment in 1953: Wisconsin Sen. Joseph McCarthy and his chief counsel, Roy Cohn.
Even then, Roy Cohn was the subject of hush-hush, anecdotal rumours about his homosexual identity. Cohn was eventually diagnosed with AIDS and died in 1978.
Two more men with interesting biographies are tied to the key figures of ‘Fellow Travelers’. The first is America’s head of the FBI during the 1950s J. Edgar Hoover. The second — years later — is a younger man named Donald J. Trump.
#RHOA: Kenya Moore Slams Real Housewives of Atlanta Editing
Most fans of The Real Housewives of Atlanta claim the show’s not what it used to be. Many would say that the show’s most iconic talents have already left the cameras behind. Still, there’s usually at least one star for everyone to love.
While many call Marlo Hampton boring, others hold her close in their hearts. Others say the show’s become too focused on Kandi Burruss, Drew Sidora, and/or Kenya Moore. And for some fans, that’s great. But others tire easily of seeing one Housewife too much.
But apparently, Kenya has her own qualms with which Housewives get the attention that they do. Or at the very least, the way the attention is distributed. Fans who follow the star closely know she’s taken a few shots at Bravo lately, and it appears she’s not stopping.
Kenya’s confused about her unaired event
Twitter user @TheCarterFilez commented on RHOA Season 15’s aversion to showcasing Kenya’s growing Hair Spa business. And more particularly, what they chose to feature instead. “Kenya/Drew/Kandi not showing up to Marlo’s event but yet it’s being aired over Kenya’s salon journey.” Many fans agreed, calling Marlo boring and wanting more Kenya instead.
Kenya quote tweeted the observation and wrote, “I wasn’t invited but I [was] invited to the ‘rebranding last minute storyline event’ but I invited the entire cast to another event I threw and all attended but it was edited out of the show [confused emoji].” That seemingly confirmed what fans believed — that Bravo was giving Kenya the short end of the stick.
But theories abounded as to why. One fan replied, “Told yah Kenya getting the Nene treatment from bravo,” adding, “They will not let any of these girls get too big.” Others simply assumed that production didn’t like her on a personal level. And perhaps the feeling’s mutual with the housewife taking multiple shots at the network lately.
Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 15 continues Sundays at 8/7c on Bravo.

#HipHopNews: Cardi B Says Offset Will Sue Troll Over False Cheating Claims
On Monday (Aug. 21) night, Cardi B made it clear that she won’t tolerate false claims about her relationship with Offset, and she’s taking legal steps to prove it.
Late Sunday (Aug. 20) evening, a tweet alleged evidence of the Migos rapper’s infidelity to the New York rap icon. The user behind it shared a voice note purporting to be Offset arranging a rendezvous with another woman. It also included an NSFW image of a man said to be the Atlanta artist caught in a compromising position.
“Offset has allegedly cheated on Cardi B once again. How embarrassing,” the post read. However, many responses immediately questioned the legitimacy of the recording and suspected it was created through AI technology.
Meanwhile, Cardi was quick to take notice of the accusations. She swiftly shut them down the following day while highlighting the flaws in the evidence provided. Not only did she debunk the image by pointing out that the man was too slender to be her husband and lacked his signature blonde-tipped dreads, but she also dismissed the voice note as a poorly executed AI attempt.
“So you guys are going to receive a letter from his lawyer,” she announced in a now-deleted Twitter Spaces session. “Because all these little games that you guys want to play online — it’s going to be over with.”
Moreover, Cardi continued, “You’re going to be getting sued, and we’re going to make an example out of you. Yeah, and that was a terrible AI voice, by the way. So yeah, bye.”
The user later doubled down on their allegations against Offset, even after receiving a copyright claim regarding the clip. Subsequently, the Twitter troll tweeted, “Cardi just copyrighted my tweet. B**tch, you mad at me when you need to be mad at the n**gga that’s CHEATING ON YOU!”
The original post was eventually taken down. It was replaced with a message stating, “This media has been disabled in response to a report by the copyright owner.”
Cardi and Offset’s relationship has not been without its struggles, but they’ve consistently demonstrated their commitment to one another. In July, the couple linked up for their single and music video titled “JEALOUSY.”
Kanye West's wife Bianca Censori angers locals in Italy For Dressing Almost NUDE!
The people of Italy want Kanye West's wife Bianca Censori to be booted from the country or arrested over her stunts
Kanye West's new wife Bianca Censori has sparked outrage in Italy with her sizzling outfit.
The rapper's sweetheart raised eyebrows in Italy as she showed off too much skin in her skimpy outfits.
The people of Italy want her to be booted from the country or arrested. They expressed their dissatisfaction with Bianca showing off her body.
The newlyweds captured the attention of the public eye while enjoying a leisurely outing in the picturesque landscapes of Tuscany. Bianca exuded an effortless style, however her fashion choice turned heads and sparked conversations. She defied conventional norms with her bold sartorial statement.
Bianca didn't leave much to the imagination during their outings. She was photographed in sheer, tightfitting bodysuits
Italians took to social media to express their dissatisfaction with Bianca showing off her killer curves, with one writing: "How about police in every country arrest anyone who is nude? It's called indecency ... Tired of being forced to see n*de women and should be illegal for children to see this."
Another added: "I hope Italy kicks them both out of the country. They don't need this pair polluting it."
A third pointed out it was "Completely disrespectful to a conservative catholic culture; the Italians should have kicked them out."
The two also set the paparazzi cameras flashing as they attended a Travis Scott concert in Rome. The couple’s affectionate display of public affection left no doubt about the strength of their bond.
The duo appeared to be in high spirits, as their enthusiastic hugs and passionate embraces captured the essence of their deep connection as a couple unafraid to celebrate their love openly.
Wendy Williams Opens New Secret Bank Account After Court Froze Hers: Report
Wendy Williams is reportedly trying to reclaim her fortune. According to a new report, the former daytime talk show queen opened a new secret bank account after hers was previously frozen by court.
The former host of "The Wendy Williams Show" allegedly opened a new bank account to redirect her money. "Wendy has secretly opened up a new bank account to divert any money she makes moving forward away from Wells Fargo, where they froze her accounts when her financial adviser told them she was of 'unsound mind,' " a source told The National Enquirer via Radar Online.
The insider also noted that Wendy tried to sell off her personal stuff to friends, but she doesn't know how to use the new bank account. "She doesn't know her account number and refuses to accept checks. It's a mess!" the source claimed.
Back in March, the 59-year-old allegedly tried to sell several items from her $3 million New York penthouse, including her iconic purple "Hot Topics" chair. "Wendy is getting rid of items for spring cleaning, this is what people do this time of year," her rep at the time stated. "It's a new chapter for Wendy and she wants new things. This is a common gesture people do and Wendy is no different."
The star's former attorney LaShawn Thomas explained that her bank account was frozen by Wells Fargo in January 2022 amid her health struggle. The bank suspected that the famed host was being subjected to "financial exploitation, dementia, or undue influence."
She's been classified as an "incapacitated person" who requires guardianship. After a New York judge designated a guardian to oversee her funds, she's since been banned from accessing her estimated $20 million fortune.
"Basically, what Wells Fargo is using is a rule that was promulgated by an organization called [the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority] FINRA and under that rule," the lawyer said at the time. "It grants Wells Fargo the right to suspend a transaction in the event they deem that the transaction is of suspicious nature or they feel that the individual who is conducting the transaction is doing so against their will."
Ne-Yo's Ex Monyetta Shaw-Carter Doesn’t share His Anti-Transgender Comments
The mother of Ne-Yo's children is speaking out on the R&B singer's controversial anti-transgender remarks. In a new interview, Monyetta Shaw-Carter makes it clear that she doesn't co-sign Ne-Yo's views on parents letting their kids transition at a young age.
Speaking to TMZ, Monyetta said that she's aware of the musician's recent controversy over his anti-transgender comments. While she respects his opinion, Monyetta clarified, "Those views are his."
Monyetta, who shares Madilyn and Mason with the "So Sick" singer, revealed that she stands with the LGBTQ+ community. Despite the differing opinion, she stressed that she's not bashing his baby daddy for his view, adding that they are still co-parenting their kids just fine.
Ne-Yo recently made headlines after he blasted parents who let their kids make significant decisions at a young age. In response to the backlash, the 43-year-old singer insisted that he has the right to voice his opinion.
"Ok. This s**t is getting out of hand. FROM THE HORSE'S MOUTH. I WILL NOT BE BULLIED INTO APOLOGIZING FOR HAVING AN OPINION. AGREEING TO DISAGREE IS NOT A DECLARATION OF WAR," he wrote on Instagram earlier this month.
The "Miss Independent" hitmaker added, "Lord knows I ain't perfect, I've made my mistakes indeed. And I've apologized to the people I've hurt for those mistakes. I couldn't cast a stone if I wanted to, which I don't. And I havent. My intention is never to offend anybody…but my opinion is MINE and I'm entitled to it. I don't care what y'all do with yours. That's YOURS. This is how I FEEL."
"If one of my 7 kids were to decide that he or she wanted to be something other than what they were born as, once they're old enough and mature enough to make that decision…so be it. Not gonna love 'em any less. Daddy is still Daddy and he loves you regardless," he further stated. "But this isn't even a discussion until they are MENTALLY MATURE ENOUGH to have such a discussion. Period. Point blank. Whatever. Y'all do y'all, imma do me and we can agree to disagree and coexist PEACEFULLY. LOVE IS THE ONLY TRUE POWER."
Lizzo Is Back In the Studio Amid Sexual Harassment Lawsuit
Lizzo claims to be "doing good" as controversy keeps raging over her alleged sexual misconduct. The "About Damn Time" star, 36, is being taken to court by three of her former backing dancers for alleged sexual harassment, creating a hostile work environment and discrimination, but has now declared she is coping fine and has returned to making music.
"(I'm) doing good. I'm in the studio right now," she told photographers who snapped her walking into a studio in Los Angeles on Monday, August 21 when asked how she was coping.
The Grammy winner was driven to the studio in a luxury SUV and stepped out wearing a long white Yitty hoodie and shiny thigh high silver boots with a matching metallic-coloured purse.
Lizzo has strongly denied the allegations against her trio of ex-dancers, and recently issued a denial she had split from boyfriend Myke Wright in the wake of their allegations against her.
She started dating comedian Myke, 35, in 2021 after they hosted the MTV live music show "Wonderland" together in 2016, but were hit by split claims after the pair unfollowed each other on social media earlier this month - with Lizzo also deleting all their photos together. But a spokesman for the singer said there is "no truth" to claims the pair had broken up.
The dancers' legal team has also claimed six more people have approached them with disparaging accusations against Lizzo, but no new allegations have yet been detailed.
Attorneys representing the lawsuit being brought against the star by dancers Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez told Page Six they have been reviewing and vetting fresh claims about sexual misconduct from another half-dozen complainants "with similar stories" as the trio.
Lawyer Ron Zambrano said his firm has been examining claims from other dancers who worked with Lizzo on her Amazon Studios reality show "Lizzo's Watch Out for the Big Grrrls".
He added in a statement Lizzo's original three accusers "have bravely spoken out and shared their experiences, opening the door for others to feel empowered to do the same."
The lawyer told Page Six the new allegations are of a "sexually charged environment" and failure to pay employees, adding, "Some of the claims we are reviewing may be actionable, but it is too soon to say."
Among the allegations against Lizzo from her former dancers is that the singer pressured them to engage with naked performers at a club in Amsterdam and pushed them into eating bananas sticking from sex workers' vaginas in the nightspot.
Lizzo denied their claims in a statement on her Instagram, saying, "These last few days have been gut wrenchingly difficult and overwhelmingly disappointing."
Fyre Festival II: Billy McFarland says; 1st drop of Tickets sells out
Fyre meme sensation Andy King is reuniting with fraudster Billy McFarland for Fyre Festival II. The event planner — who became internet famous when he talked about his, um, dedication for trying to make the disastrous event actually happen — confirmed to Yahoo Entertainment he's back for the new iteration.
"I look forward to working with Billy and our partners to share FYRE with the world," he said over email on Tuesday. "I'm so grateful to have support to help us execute the ultimate redemption."
King wouldn't elaborate on their partners (or their plan for ultimate redemption), but added a formal announcement will be coming soon.
Over the weekend, McFarland revealed that Fyre Festival II will take place sometime next year in the Caribbean. There are no dates, except that it's "targeted for the end of 2024," lineup or location listed — other than the "Caribbean Sea." There's already a disclaimer on the official website that "FFII date is subject to change." Even with Fyre's disastrous history, the first drop sold out, per the website.
McFarland shared Tuesday on Instagram that "all ticket sales will be held in escrow until the final date" for the festival is confirmed.
The first 100 tickets were the cheapest people could buy, starting at $499 and going up to $7,999. One hundred people clearly put their trust in McFarland, who was released from prison last year as he was convicted of fraud for throwing the ill-fated 2017 event that left concertgoers stranded in the Bahamas. He served almost four years of a six year sentence.
In a YouTube video posted with the announcement, McFarland credited solitary confinement with helping him come up with FFII.
"It has been the absolute wildest journey to get here, and it really all started during a seventh-month stint in solitary confinement. I wrote out this 50-page plan of how it would take this overall interest and demand in Fyre and how it would take my ability to bring people from around the world together to make the impossible happen," he shared, thanking the "best partners in the world."
It's unclear if Ja Rule is among those partners, but it doesn't sound like it. The rapper was an original co-founder, but was dismissed from $100 million class-action lawsuit filed by Fyre Festival attendees. In April, he told People he wouldn't be involved should the event be revived.
"I don't know nothing about it!" he exclaimed. "I don't know nothing about it. I ain't in it!"
A rep for the musician didn't respond to Yahoo's request for comment.
The first iteration of Fyre Festival was branded as the ultimate luxury music concert. Blink-182 and Migos were among the alleged performers and the "exclusive" event was promoted by influencers and models, including Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber. Any guests who were able to arrive at the private island were met with practically no food, shelter or music. Many travelers became stranded after spending thousands of dollars.
Fyre Festival was the subject of dueling Netflix and Hulu documentaries. King became a social media star following Netflix's Fyre, in which he revealed just how far he'd go to secure water for festivalgoers. King, who is openly gay, claimed McFarland asked him to give oral sex to a customs official and he was "fully prepared" to do so.

Raven-Symoné Tells Whoopi Goldberg She Gave Off 'Lesbian Vibes' When They Co-Hosted 'The View'
Goldberg clarified that she was "not a lesbian" but she "knows lots of them" and had "played them on television"
Whoopi Goldberg is clarifying that she is “not a lesbian” despite her former View co-host Raven-Symoné recalling her giving off “lesbian vibes” during their time on the ABC talk show.
On the latest episode of iHeartMedia's The Best Podcast Ever with Raven and Miranda, the 37-year-old Disney Channel alum told Goldberg, 67, that she wanted to “dig into your business a little bit.”
“Honestly, when I was around you, I loved you so much, like I just wanted to be up underneath the t---- the whole time,” Symoné admitted. “But that's also because you just kind of gave me lesbian vibes!'”
Symoné — who co-hosted The View from June 2015 to October 2016 — added, “You give me lesbian vibes, you give me stud vibes.”
Symoné’s wife and podcast co-host Miranda Maday responded, “I think this is a secret fantasy of Raven's. I think she just wants everybody to be gay and she's just really hoping you'll come out right here, right now.'”
The That’s So Raven alum agreed and added, “So if you want to tell us anything, Whoops, you're more than welcome to!"
Goldberg then opened up about the common misconception about her sexuality, sharing, “Women have been asking me this for as long as I've been around. I am not a lesbian. But I know lots of them, and I've played them on television.”
“But I have always had lesbian friends because they're just my friends,’” she continued.
Goldberg went to detail her own boundaries with her pals, saying, "I'm not gonna kiss you, but I'll kiss you over here, I'll do this but I'm not going to do this... And they're like, ‘OK!’”
Symoné applauded her former costar for openness and how she presents herself.
“Which makes me happy because I can also say, to all those people who judge the lesbian community or the gay community,” she said. “There is something beautiful about a woman being able to embrace their masculine and feminine at the same time and wear it so well, like you do.”
"It's fantastic, you're not either one or the other, you're just a human living in your body and doesn't really correlate to sexual orientation or any of that,” she continued. “It's just the way you present and it's so warming… You live in this duality so well, and I just want to applaud you for that."
The EGOT winner has been married three times. At 18 years old, Goldberg wed her drug counselor Alvin Martin in 1973. The couple welcomed a daughter, Alexandrea, that same year and eventually divorced six years later in 1979.
She was then married to cinematographer David Claessen from 1986 to 1988. Her third and final marriage was to actor Lyle Trachtenberg in 1994, though they divorced the following year.
Since her third divorce, Goldberg has been very vocal about her views on marriage — and her plans to not wed again. In an August 2023 episode of The View, Goldberg's co-hosts had a lengthy discussion about why society often sees finding a spouse as the "ultimate goal in life." At the end of the segment, Goldberg simply said, "I don't care."
The View airs weekdays on ABC (check local listings).
Kim Kardashian Plays a Creepy, Pregnant Mother in Spider-Filled ‘American Horror Story: Delicate’ Trailer
Mother alert: Kim Kardashian explores the horror of pregnancy in the first trailer for “American Horror Story: Delicate.”
Now entering its 12th season, FX, Brad Falchuk and Ryan Murphy’s beloved anthology series is known for its self-contained plot lines, from “Murder House” and “Asylum” to “Double Feature” and “Coven.” The upcoming season, titled “Delicate,” is based on Danielle Valentine’s thriller novel “Delicate Condition,” marking the first plot of “AHS” to originate from a book.
Kardashian, dressed in a campy, vampy, Elvira-like gown and black latex gloves, stars in the trailer alongside Emma Roberts and Cara Delevingne. Roberts is a seasoned “AHS” actor who previously appeared in “Coven,” “Freak Show,” “Cult,” “Apocalypse” and “1984.” Other cast members of Season 12 include Zachary Quinto, Annabelle Dexter-Jones, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Odessa A’zion, Billie Lourd, Julie White, Debra Monk and Denis O’Hare.
The story follows Anna Alcott (Roberts), an actor who finds her attempts at pregnancy sabotaged. Valentine, whose book was released on Aug. 1, calls the story “a body horror novel about pregnancy.”
“The ways that we describe pregnancy—delicate condition, bun in the oven, she’s in a family way—it’s so infantilizing for something that is among the most dangerous, life-changing experiences that a human being can go through,” said Valentine in an interview with Vanity Fair. Her book, which was optioned by Murphy in 2022, was recreated by Halleu Feifer, who also serves as a showrunner for “AHS” Season 12.
“American Horror Story: Delicate” Part 1 is set to premiere on Sept. 20.
Father Of NFL Cornerback Caleb Farley Killed In Explosion At North Carolina Home
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (AP) — The father of Tennessee Titans cornerback Caleb Farley died overnight in an explosion that destroyed the NFL player’s North Carolina home and left another person injured, authorities said Tuesday.
Robert M. Farley, 61, was found dead in the debris of the Mooresville house Tuesday morning, said Kent Greene, director of Iredell County Fire Services and Emergency Management.
First responders arrived at the house a few minutes after midnight Tuesday and found Christian Rogers, 25, exiting the collapsed structure, Greene said. Rogers, described by Greene as a friend of the family, was transported to Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte with a concussion. He is awake and alert, Greene said, but has not yet been discharged.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation, but Greene said gas must have accumulated over a long period and likely found its way to an ignition source. The blast, which local authorities have ruled accidental, originated in a bedroom and did not damage any surrounding homes.
The house is on a large plot of land near Lake Norman, about 28 miles (45 kilometers) north of Charlotte. County property records list the tax value of the home as nearly $2 million.
In the front yard Tuesday, insulation hung from the trees, and a king-size mattress and broken coffee mug saying “Virginia Tech dad” lie on the lawn. Wood debris and window frames were blown at least 50 yards (45 meters) from the blast.
“There could not be anyone in it left alive — that was my first thought,” Greene said. “And when I found out someone did walk out of it, I was amazed. This was a 6,300-square-foot home, and there’s nothing left but maybe a part of the garage.”
Property records list Caleb Farley, who was born and raised in nearby Maiden, as the homeowner. He was not there at the time of the explosion, but was on the scene Tuesday, Greene said.
Titans coach Mike Vrabel told the team about Caleb Farley’s loss during a practice in Nashville, and the players took a knee in an apparent prayer. Vrabel said that the team will do everything possible to support him.
“That’s the most important thing is to focus on him and … everything else is pretty trivial,” Vrabel said after practice.
Caleb Farley, the No. 22 overall pick in the 2021 draft, was placed on injured reserve last November with a back issue. He has played 12 games in his first two seasons and is currently listed as physically unable to perform as the Titans wrap up training camp this week.
In college, the 6-foot-2, 197-pound cornerback was the first high-profile player to opt out of the 2020 season because of the coronavirus pandemic. He lost his mother to cancer in 2018 and was unwilling to put another loved one at risk while playing at Virginia Tech.
Titans safety Kevin Byard lost his own mother in June 2022. He said he told Caleb Farley before he returned to North Carolina to lean hard into his faith.
“I know he lost his mother at a young age as well, so he’s dealt with a lot of adversity as well,” Byard said. “So just very tragic. And, you know, as a team and as a brother, all we can do and all I can do is to try to be there for him.”
Laura Wild, who lives two doors down from where the explosion occurred, said she heard a loud boom around midnight but didn’t go outside to check what had happened. She said she was exhausted because she had been up all night the night before watching her son’s newborn baby.
“When it happened I was like, ‘What was that?’ My husband said, ‘I think it’s just thunder.’” Wild said. “We didn’t come out to investigate because the power didn’t go out in our house. We walked around the house and the house was fine. We went to bed. But when we came out in the morning... it was pretty bad. Just awful.”
Wild said she didn’t know the Farleys well.
Greene said it wasn’t yet clear who might be liable for the explosion as multiple agencies probed its cause. The gas meter used to measure the volume of fuel gases flowing into nearby homes has been sequestered and does not pose a present danger to others in the community, he said.
Dominion Energy spokesperson Bonita Billingsley Harris said in an email that the power company was among the first on the scene and was working with investigators.

Jennifer Aniston Talks Being “So Over Cancel Culture” Following Jamie Foxx Antisemitism Accusation
Jennifer Aniston is questioning cancel culture despite comments she recently made about Jamie Foxx seemingly trying to get him canceled.
The actress sat down with WSJ Magazine recently, where she dished on the current state of fans dismissing famous folks over public mishaps and/or trash behaviors. Weeks ago, Aniston was the topic of a nasty social media dragging when she slammed Foxx over antisemitism after he made an IG post about alleged fake friends where he wrote, “They killed this dude name Jesus…what do you think they’ll do to you?” Aniston took these words and flipped them, assuming that Foxx was making improper comments about Jews when he was actually using a reference commonly known in the Black community. She has yet to apologize publicly for fueling this accusation. Foxx, on the other hand, did issue an apology for the misunderstanding, explaining that he was not dissing Jewish people in any way. His followers have seemingly forgiven him, though Aniston alluded to still being on the hook for pushing such claims.
“I’m so over cancel culture. I probably just got canceled by saying that. I just don’t understand what it means,” she told the outlet before asking, “Is there no redemption? I don’t know. I don’t put everybody in the Harvey Weinstein basket.”
Aniston is referring to the permanent cancellation of the disgraced producer who was convicted of raping several women. The “Friends” star briefly interacted with him throughout her career but insisted they were never together alone, something she intentionally made sure of.
Should Foxx fans forgive Aniston for misconstruing his words, or did she deserve the backlash she received?
Newly released video shows police shooting into vehicle at a traffic stop in an encounter that contradicts initial police narrative
An attorney representing the family of a 27-year-old man who was shot and killed by a Philadelphia police officer last Monday released new surveillance video of the fatal police encounter that contradicts the initial narrative of the incident as provided by police.
Police initially told reporters that officers gave the man multiple commands to drop a weapon while he was outside his vehicle. Two days later, Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said the shooting occurred while the man was inside the vehicle, citing body worn camera footage that “made it very clear what we initially reported was not actually what happened.”
In a birds-eye view of the police encounter, surveillance video provided by a local resident shows Eddie Irizarry pulling into a parking spot, running over orange traffic cones in the process, and parking before a police vehicle pulls up to the passenger side of his car a few seconds later in a narrow residential street.
Video shows an officer exiting the passenger side of the patrol vehicle and pulling out a firearm from his belt as he crosses the front of the patrol vehicle and heads toward Irizarry’s car yelling what sounds like, “Show us your hands!” and then “Show me your hands” two times.
Approximately five seconds elapse between the time that the officer gets out of his patrol car, runs over to the driver’s side of Irizarry’s vehicle, and fires his gun what appears to be six times with at least one shot striking Irizarry’s front windshield. While firing his weapon, the officer is heard shouting what sounds like, “Drop the knife!”
As the officer runs over toward Irizarry who’s seated in the driver’s seat, Irizarry is seen pulling up the driver’s side window before the officer shoots inside his vehicle.
The video shows the officer appearing to recoil and run back toward his patrol car as he’s shooting at Irizarry.
Both officers responding to the traffic stop then appear to try to get into Irizarry’s vehicle but the doors are locked. The officers are then able to open Irizarry’s car and then drag him out of the vehicle and place him into the patrol car.
Family waiting for body camera footage to be released
“The narrative that he was out (of) the car, lunging at police, didn’t really comport with what our eyes saw from the very beginning,” Irizarry family attorney Shaka Johnson told reporters Tuesday afternoon. “But, we like to trust our local government and so we figured we’d maybe wait until the body worn camera footage was released to reconcile what we saw versus what we heard.”
Johnson said that the City Solicitor’s Office had extended an invitation to Irizarry’s family to privately watch the body worn camera footage last Friday but then the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office rescinded that offer, citing an ongoing investigation.
The attorney said that he will turn over the surveillance footage of the incident to all law enforcement agencies investigating the fatal shooting.
So far the family hasn’t seen this footage.
Instead, the victim’s family and their attorney successfully canvassed the neighborhood asking for people to help and provide them with any surveillance footage, or doorbell camera footage that they had from the day and time of the incident.
“What about what you just saw could ever be confused as, ‘He got out of the car and lunged at police officers’? Not a single thing,” Johnson told reporters.
“I think as part of the investigation, a part of what we would like answered, is who gave that initial information to the public information officer?” Johnson said Tuesday.
Law enforcement has not reached out to Irizarry’s family to provide any update on the investigation or to provide them further details on the case, Johnson said.
Jane Roh, a spokesperson for Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner disputed that claim, saying that the office has been in constant contact with Irizarry’s family through their attorney and is looking forward to meeting them in person.
The special investigations unit in the DA’s office is investigating the incident, saying in a statement Tuesday that “the DA’s Office intends to keep its sworn obligation to seek justice for all those involved in the fatal shooting of Mr. Irizarry, as well as for all those Philadelphians who are not directly involved but who care deeply about fairness, justice, and independence.”
In an interview with CNN on Friday, Irizarry’s aunt, Zoraida Garcia, said the family believes there may have been a language barrier between Irizarry and the police because he did not speak English well.
The actress sat down with WSJ Magazine recently, where she dished on the current state of fans dismissing famous folks over public mishaps and/or trash behaviors.
He had moved from Puerto Rico to Philadelphia seven years ago, she explained.
