#FASHIONFAB: adidas x Gucci Is Pure Excellence on Steroids Imbued with Heavenly Creative Talent

Not all collaborations are created equal. Designed by Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele, adidas x Gucci is spectacular in a business-smart kind of way. The design hybrids created by this fusion of business brilliance go way beyond wearable and visually appealing.

The two brands adidas and Gucci look like they were made for each other . . . like adidas should just buy Gucci [ relax Kering].

At least get married . . . or realistically, be lovers to reconnect around the world after a few years absence from seeing each other.  Sparks fly between these two when they meet, and every human, cat and dog within 10 miles of their meeting starts smiling. African elephants feel the ubuntu vibe in Kenya and Botswana and make hearts with their trunks.

Sentimentality has a strong hold on the hearts and minds of today’s consumers, and this collection paints a different vision of the future than our young people see right now.  It’s as if the mega adidas — who is deeply involved in creating a sustainable future — and Gucci, too with Equilibrium — is handing us a visual lifeline that says — in their own words:

“We know it’s really bad out there, but we are adults in the room trying to fix things. We know we are a huge part of the problem, but we are seriously working on it. You do have a future, our dear young hearts. You can believe in our symbolism and best efforts — even if the US Supreme Court is trying to take away women’s right to control their own bodies; the state of Florida is banning your even speaking of being gay; and across America, red states are saying that slavery was actually an example of white people’s Christian benevolence.”

“Oh, we forgot about the baby formula shortage. How the hell does the great America have a baby formula shortage?  You can’t not buy baby food.”

“Adidas x Gucci is on your side — whatever real-world drama is unveiling itself before your disbelieving eyes.  And boomer grandparents, everything you marched for is not lost. Bernie Sanders — that sit-in at the University of Chicago was worth it. Keep standing up for everyday people, Bernie.”

“Now we know some of these products cost $2000 a pop, but hug the vibe because it’s visibly filled with love and traditions you can believe in. “

“For one moment, we are not corporate jerks. We really do understand where you are coming from, adidas x Gucci lovers. This is “trippy” fashion you can believe in. “

“Okay, it probably doesn’t pass the Stella McCartney test in sustainability, but it’s got a LOT of sustainability going on in the collection. A lot. Anne can’t find it garment by garment, and she is knocking her brains out not to be accused of emotional greenwashing for big corporations in this post.”

“Yes, Carlijn Jacobs [IG] is behind these photographs, inspired by archival fashion catalogs. And the new director of imagery — and we’ll throw in creativity — for Off White, Ib Kamara has done the styling.”

“Didn’t Anne write in her comments about the ‘Team Too Much’ fashion story for Dazed Magazine’s winter issue that 1+1=3 with Jacobs and Karama? Yes, she did — probably because J and K sit side-by-side in the alphabet. The universe is speaking [just kidding — fake news]. “

“But seriously, dear hearts, our beloved Virgil Abloh is nodding his heavenly-head spirit over our most sincere, heads bowed to the Beatles, Bob Dylan and Marvin Gaye collaboration. We can read Virgil’s mind: “Not bad, dear friends. Not bad. A very nice try. Next time make it 100% sustainable because from up here looking over Planet Earth, I assure you all that big business had better get cracking on sustainability before you destroy the whole damn world.”

“Meanwhile, the design symbolism integration is epic, guys. Not bad at all. If global temperatures weren’t heating up at an epic pace, I’d say the adidas x Gucci collection dropping June 7, 2022 is pure ‘fire’.”

Models in this visual adidas v Gucci shindig include Aivita Muze, Aouatif Saadi, Ebony Francisco, Jie Zheng, Lily McMenamy, Mammina Aker, Paul-Emile Paillier, Ruiqi Jiang, Scarlet Peguero, Shuqi Lan and Tangde Wang. In this case, Viola Di Sante deserves a casting director mention. And Christopher Simmonds provides art direction.

Good goddess, I needed that fashion-fantasy getaway. It’s a vitamin pill fortification in the midst of such global fear and sorrow. The adidas x Gucci collaboration is pure divine excellence.

#RHOA: Kandi Burruss fears Martell Holt is using Shereé Whitfield ‘for publicity’

Kandi Burruss is questioning the validity of Martell Holt’s relationship with her “Real Housewives of Atlanta” co-star Shereé Whitfield.

“I don’t want her to be in a situation where it feels like she’s being used for publicity,” the former singer, 46, said on Atlanta’s V-103 radio station when asked about the budding romance.

Burruss went on to tell Shamea Morton a story about one of her friends and fellow reality stars, whom she didn’t name, going on a date with the “Love & Marriage: Huntsville” star, 40, “earlier this year” at her Blaze restaurant.

“[She] was like … ‘We’re gonna have someboy taking our pictures and video so they can post it,'” the Bravo personality recalled.

“But no blog really posted,” Burruss continued of the “weird” circumstance. “My whole point was now that I see this similar situation, I’m like is he doing this? Is he genuine or is he doing the same thing that he was doing to the other person?”

News broke on Tuesday that Whitfield, 52, has been dating Holt for more than two months, with the Ohio native telling TMZ that they met “through a mutual friend” and were “just hanging out.”

She added, “I’m enjoying life right now.”

While the duo have yet to make things Instagram official, the outlet did obtain a video of them snapping selfies at a beach.

Whitfield previously dated Tryone Gilliams, and their split was documented on the Bravo show this year.

The fashion designer has been a cast member since 2008. Burruss, for her part, joined the following year.

The reality stars clashed last month after RHOA’s Marlo Hampton accused Burruss of being “a ho” who “f–ked everybody for free” pre-reality TV — and Whitfield nodded along to the 46-year-old’s claims.

“I was more surprised by Shereé co-signing everything Marlo was saying,” Burruss told Access Hollywood in June. “I expect that from Marlo but Shereé? I was done when I saw that.

“I was totally shocked because I haven’t even done anything to Sheree. I don’t even understand where this energy is coming from. It just totally threw me off.”

#HipHopNews: Lil Durk Injured By Explosive During Lollapalooza Performance

Lil Durk was seriously injured during his Lollapalooza set.

The rapper was performing at the Chicago festival on Saturday when a pyrotechnic exploded at the front of the stage, hitting him directly in the face. In video footage, Durk was seen walking backwards and covering his face after being pummeled by the smoke.

The DJ stopped the music and asked Durk if he was alright. “That one came a little close. That didn’t look like it shot straight up. It look like it shot in a different direction,” he said.

After taking a moment to regroup, Durk continued on with his set. “F**k it, no more smoke, let’s do it,” he told the crowd at Grant Park.

He later received medical treatment for his injury. Taking to Instagram on Sunday, he posted a photo of himself in the hospital with a bandage over his right eye and announced that he would be taking a break to focus on his health.

“Due to the incident that happened at Lollapalooza in Chicago on stage, I’ma take a break & focus on my health,” he wrote. “I finished my performance yesterday for my fans. Appreciate y’all.”

It’s unclear how much time Durk plans to take off. He is slated to kick off his “7220 Deluxe Tour” with Nardo Wick in September.

BREAKING: NFL suspends Deshaun Watson 6 games for personal conduct violations

The NFL suspended Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson for six games on Monday for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.

The decision was rendered in response to the NFL’s investigation of multiple women who filed civil lawsuits against Watson before he settled with 23 of them; one of those suits remains. The women, whom Watson hired for massages, accused the QB of sexual misconduct or sexual assault.

Watson will be eligible to return to the Browns in Week 7.

As part of its probe, the league’s investigators spoke to at least 10 of the women who originally filed litigation against Watson. A source told Yahoo Sports the NFL obtained information from the pretrial process in those civil lawsuits, none of which was sealed by presiding judges. The pretrial process included Watson sitting for multiple depositions and ultimately concluded on June 30.

Independent hearing officer Sue L. Robinson presided over a three-day disciplinary hearing in which the NFL and NFLPA presented their cases in determining if Watson violated the league's conduct policy. Days before those hearings began, it was reported that the NFL pushed for a one-year suspension. A source told Yahoo Sports that the NFL wanted the public to know that it had pushed for that year-long suspension before the discipline hearing.

#BoxOfficeNews: ‘DC League of Super-Pets’ Opens to #1, but at $23 Million It’s Another DC Disappointment

Audiences rushed to see "Minions: The Rise of Gru" in theaters; for the canine companions of Superman and Batman, they seem more inclined to wait at home.

July 2022 was the best month for theaters since 2019, but it ends on a weak note: For the first time since May (just before Paramount opened “Top Gun: Maverick), grosses for all films will total under $100 million. This particular fallow patch won’t last long with “Bullet Train” (Sony) starring Brad Pitt opening next Friday; it could open to $40 million or higher. After that, theaters may have to wait for October for another significant performer when Warner Bros. opens “Black Adam” starring Dwayne Johnson.

That’s assuming it doesn’t underwhelm like some DC Comics adaptations, like this weekend’s animated “DC League of Super-Pets” (Warners). It’s #1 this weekend, but with a less-than-stellar $23 million. By comparison, that’s less than a quarter of the opening gross for “Minions: The Rise of Gru;” another animated Universal title, last spring’s “The Bad Guys,” cost $90 million less and opened to $1 million more.

Here's the 'Nope' Metaphor You Missed: The Need to Diversify the Arthouse (Column)

Animated superheroes can be gold mines — “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” (Sony) had a domestic total of $190 million — but animation has been uneven all summer. “Lightyear” (Disney) was a real disappointment as a Pixar-brand film. “Paws of Fury: The Legend of Frank” (Paramount) did less than $4 million to open last weekend, and didn’t even make the Top 10 this week.

“Gru,” with another $10 million this weekend at #4, is headed to more than $350 million — better than “Thor: Love and Thunder.” “Sonic the Hedgehog 2” (Paramount) took in $190 million. Still, moviegoers are clearly becoming more selective with VOD and streaming as near-term options.

Ticket sales totaled $96 million, 59 percent of the same 2019 weekend. That lowers the ongoing four-week comparison to 2019 to 85 percent, but it’s very unlikely to maintain that performance over the next two months.

Jordan Peele’s “Nope”(Universal), down 58 percent from its opening, did not duplicate the second-weekend holds for “Us” (-53 percent after opening much higher) and “Get Out” (-15 percent). At #2 and $80 million, it’s a respectable result and it will become his third $100 million+ domestic film. However, each of the first two grossed more than $250 million worldwide, with far lower budgets;  this one will be much less profitable.

“Thor” dropped 42 percent and “Gru” 40 percent. Other holds, including two Universal films on PVOD, dropped just a third or less. Best of the bunch was “Elvis” (Warner Bros.), off only 11 percent at #7 and $129 million. Also holding well is “When the Crawdads Sing” (Sony), in its third weekend down 27 percent and headed likely for $75 million or more. “Maverick” as usual held strong, down 20 percent, up to $650 million.

Also new in the top 10 in 998 theaters is “Vengeance” (Focus), #10 with $1,750,000. The Blumhouse production, which blends comedy and a murder mystery, is the directing debut of B.J. Novak, who also plays the lead. It found some favorable critical response and likely will see a decent PVOD afterlife.

Of the specialized limited debuts, two saw some degree of interest. “A Love Song” (Bleecker Street) managed $18,700 on four screens. Boosted by appearances by Lena Dunham and others, “Sharp Stick” (Utopia) did about the same in two. Opening wider in 97 theaters, “Resurrection” (IFC) grossed $92,700.

“Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris” (Focus) added another $930,000 in 871 theaters, now at $6.7 million. “Marcel the Shell with Shoes On” (A24) added another $602,000 in 821 to reach $4.1 million. Neon’s “Fire of Love” did $151,ooo in 191, now $525,000.

The never-ending “Everything Everywhere All at Once” returned with bonus features with $650,000 in 1,490, enough to get it over $100 million worldwide for A24, by far its highest total.

Zahara Jolie-Pitt Is Headed To Spelman College!

Zahara Jolie-Pitt, daughter of Academy Award-winning stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, is a recent high school graduate. The 17-year-old is set to continue her studies, heading off to one of the most popular and esteemed historically Black colleges and Universities in the country — Spelman College.

The beauty celebrated not only with her famous mom, but a slew of Spelman alumni, other incoming freshman and current students. On Saturday (July 30), mother and daughter linked up with the Spelman and Morehouse alumni associations for the ‘Spelhouse’ Back to School Send Off event in North Hollywood, a fundraiser that brought everyone together.

Jolie celebrated her daughter, sharing a post of Zahara with new friends.

“Zahara with her Spelman sisters!” the proud mama wrote. “Congratulations to all new students starting this year. A very special place and an honor to have a family member as a new Spelman girl.”

Jolie was so excited, she even found herself trying to get in where she could fit in on the dance floor at the event. She was captured trying her hand at everyone’s favorite Black function line dance: the electric slide.

We’re excited for Zahara, who will actually join a fellow star kid, Erica and Warryn Campbell’s daughter Krista, as a member of the Class of 2026 at the beloved school in Atlanta. Talk of Zahara enrolling actually first started a few months ago when Angelina was spotted on campus. Now it’s been confirmed, and the Internet is cheesing about it. They’re also cheesing over the fact that Jolie is so supportive and involved, but that’s nothing new. As the mother of six told ESSENCE last year, there’s plenty concerning the cultures of the children she’s adopted (three, including Zahara, born in Ethiopia), that she’s worked to educate herself about.

“There’s been so much to learn, so much to absorb. I’m trying to listen,” she said when speaking on raising a Black child while watching racial injustice against Black people in this country. “I’m raising children of different races and I feel ever since they were little there’s been so much I have to learn from them about their cultures and their races.”

She added, “The love that you have for your own children is just so immense and then the flip side that comes along with that is any fear of loss or any fear of harm coming to them and I’ll be honest, it can be quite staggering at times. Finding the balance between the joy of parenting and having faith in your children’s safety and the reality of the risk that they can and will and might face, it’s an ongoing battle.”

But Zahara is in good hands at Spelman. We wish her well on her collegiate journey. She’ll be a part of a very special sisterhood that some of our faves have experienced. Check out a few famous Spelman alumni whom we’re sure are excited to hear that she’ll be joining their alma mater.

Ne-Yo Responds to ‘Heartbroken’ Wife Crystal Renay’s Cheating Allegations: We ‘Will Work Through Our Challenges’

Ne-Yo’s wife, Crystal Renay, has alleged that her spouse cheated on her in an emotional statement.

Ne-Yo — real name Shaffer Chimere Smith — addressed Renay’s claims in a Twitter statement on Sunday, July 31.

“For the sake of our children, my family and I will work through our challenges behind closed doors,” Ne-Yo tweeted. “Personal matters are not meant to be addressed and dissected in public forums. I simply ask that you please respect me and my family’s privacy at this time.”

The Arkansas native and Renay previously renewed their wedding vows earlier this year in a Las Vegas ceremony.  “💍Again…🤴🏿👸🏽,” the musician captioned his April post, confirming the news.

The duo — who share children Shaffer, 6, Roman, 3, and Isabella, 1 — had announced their separation nearly two years earlier.

“It’s slowly but surely becoming public knowledge that myself and my wife have decided to go ahead and get a divorce,” the World of Dance mentor — who also coparents two children with ex-fiancée Monyetta Shaw — said on the “Private Talk With Alexis Texas” podcast in February 2020. “It’s not a sad thing, it’s more of us realizing that — long story short, I’m never gonna talk bad about her. I’m not that person. There’s nothing bad to say about her. She’s a fantastic woman. She’s the mother of my children and she’s always gonna be that and I will always respect her.”

He continued at the time: “Long story short, she’s got demons just like everybody else, just like me. We realize that our demons don’t mesh and until both of us get a hold of our personal demons, it’s gonna be just difficult for us to stay married.”

Dillard’s Clerk Fired After Black Dad Schools Him on Why N-Word Is So Vile

A Dillard’s department store employee in Dallas, Texas has been fired after allegedly hurling the N-word at a Black father who then gracefully explained to the worker—in a video that later went viral—why the slur stings.

“My 10-year-old son heard you call me ‘a fucking n-----,’” a man is heard saying in the video that was posted on Instagram. “I want you to know this is unacceptable.”

Instagram user Aisha uploaded the video on Monday with the caption, “DILLARDS TRIED TO GET THIS VIDEO REMOVED.”

The social media user went on to explain that she pulled out her camera when a Dillard’s employee in Dallas called her cousin, who was shopping with his little boy, a racial slur after he asked where the fitting rooms were located.

“Unfortunately, a 10-year-old male was exposed to how cruel this world can be towards him BECAUSE OF THE COLOR OF HIS SKIN,” Aisha says, “but his father showed him the right way to handle the situation, gracefully.”

In the video, a bald white man in a buttoned-up shirt and glasses leans over a counter with Lacoste items as he listens to a Black man.

“It’s unacceptable. You shouldn’t do that. You’re too old,” the Black man says calmly.

“I carry myself with honor. I would never disrespect any human being by calling them outside of their name,” he continues. “You don’t know the impact of what you’ve done to my son. But maybe you were unaware.”

The Dillard’s employee then tried to defend himself, suggesting he didn’t realize the son was with his father.

“It doesn’t matter,” the father continues, as his family stands behind him. “You shouldn’t be speaking that way—period.”

“I know that,” the employee responds.

“So, if you know that, why do that, man?” the father asks.

The employee continues to try to explain his behavior, then says he’d hurt his leg and tells the father that he worked at the store for over 20 years.

“You don’t know what straw could break the camel’s back,” the father responds.

“I know,” the employee says.

“But you disrespected me… and my family,” the father says, gesturing towards his child. “But I would never do that to your family or even you. …I would never treat anybody that way. But I want you to know man to man, that shit’s not cool. …Treat human beings with respect, and morals, and values.”

Before the father leaves, he explains to the employee, whom he called “Homer,” that he would be having a conversation with his son about how Homer doesn’t “have respect for [his] kind, or any human being.”

“This isn’t a Black or white issue; this is an idiot issue,” the father says.

The father walks away after telling the employee that he alerted his supervisor.

The internet praised the father for his direct, heartfelt approach to handling racism.

“I LOVE THE WAY HE HANDLED THAT!!” an Instagram user commented under the video.

“This is how you address hatred. With compassion and honesty,” a Twitter user wrote. “He showed he was the better man by his actions. Major hat tip to you my brother. Black white red brown we all human.”

“@Dillards give this man 10 million dollars for having to train your employees and for emotional distress,” a Twitter user said Friday morning.

While social media users praised the father, they were not as kind to the employee or Dillard’s in general.

“Homer is a coward. Homer says racist things in front of children yet backs right down when a grown man politely confronts him,” a social media user tweeted. “Homer needs to retire. Homer needs to reflect on his life. Don’t be a Homer!”

“Don’t forget Dillards hires employees who calls people racial slurs at their stores,” an Instagram user commented under a Dillard’s post showcasing an “exclusive” outfit.

On a Facebook post advertising new handbags, a user questioned if the man identified as Homer got to keep his job.

“The allegations made against our former employee were promptly investigated, found to be in clear violation of our standards, and his employment with Dillard’s was immediately terminated,” the company responded.

But some people still pushed the department store to issue an official apology to the family as well.

According to the company’s LinkedIn page, Dillard’s is one of the largest fashion retailers in the U.S., with nearly three hundred stores in operation. The chain’s headquarters is located in Arkansas.

Netflix has released a colorful trailer for the upcoming film Me Time. The comedy stars industry veterans Kevin Hart, Regina Hall, and Mark Wahlberg. Hart and Hall play a married couple while Wahlberg takes the role of the wild best friend.

In a short clip of the R-rated movie, audiences are introduced to the main characters as well as the adventurous antics of the two men.

Me Time was first teased by Kevin Hart back in April on social media.

“I can’t wait for you guys to see this film. So many laughs…” the comedian wrote on Instagram.

The movie is one of four films included as part of Hart’s current contract with Netflix, which he inked in January of 2021. Missy Elliott To Guest Star On Cartoon Network’s ‘Craig Of The Creek’

Missy Elliott is lending her iconic voice to Cartoon Network’s Craig of the Creek. According to Deadline, the Hip-Hop veteran will guest star as Carla Frazier, the 1989 Double Dutch Champion and rival to main character Craig’s mother, Nicole.

In the episode, titled “The Jump Off,” Craig challenges a group of Creek kids to a double dutch jump rope competition, even though he has no idea how to play the rhythmic game.

Although the Supa Dupa Fly pioneer is bringing a fictional character to life, the Craig of the Creek series paid homage to Missy during its season three Halloween special.

In the animated series’ “Trick or Creek” episode, The Williams Family dressed up for the fall holiday with Nicole in costume as Missy Elliott from the “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)” music video.

“I am so humbly grateful,” Missy Elliott tweeted in response to a viral clip teasing the episode, where the character repeats “Trick or treat on,” in the style of the chorus of Elliott’s “Get Ur Freak On.”

In January, Craig of the Creek was renewed for a fifth season as a preschool spinoff series, Jessica’s Big Little World, and an original animated movie, Craig of the Creek: The Movie. The film as well as season five are expected to premiere in 2023.

“Since its debut, Craig of the Creek has been an instant audience favorite, capturing the joy of being a kid along with the humor and heart of family life,” said Amy Friedman, Head of Kids & Family Programming, Warner Bros.

Craig of the Creek, Craig of the Creek: The Movie, and Jessica’s Big Little World are executive produced and co-created by Emmy-nominated Steven Universe writers Matt Burnett and Ben Levin. Jessica’s Big Little World is executive produced and co-created by former Craig of the Creeksupervising director, Tiffany Ford

Geoffrey, who attended the NYC premiere earlier this week with Jordyn, is opening up about how proud of Jordyn he is.

“I’m beyond words proud,” Geoffrey, who is best known for his role on The Cosby Show, shared with Page Six at the premiere. “I’m speechless.”

He added that he and Jordyn have “worked together a lot” on the craft, in addition to discussing the business itself.

“I’ve observed it over the years,” he shared of Jordyn’s rising star. “I’ve been observing it for the last five or six years.”

Jordyn also opened up about having his first acting role be a bigger one than he thought: “Especially for a first project, it doesn’t get any better than this.”

Court Orders Garnishment Of Donations Kwame Kilpatrick, Wife Received To Buy Florida Home

A federal judge ordered the seizure of funds that former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and his wife, Laticia Maria McGee, raised in a virtual crowdfunding campaign to purchase a home in Florida and to provide for their newborn son, Kyng Malachi Kilpatrick.

The government’s efforts to collect an outstanding debt come 18 months after former President Donald Trump commuted the ex-mayor’s 28-year prison sentence on racketeering, extortion, bribery and other charges while in office.

The Detroit News reported federal Judge Nancy Edmunds issued separate notices of garnishments July 11-12, informing them that the government will recoup $193,303.61 from their Paypal and Plumfund accounts. As of Tuesday (July 26), the couple, who now reside in Griffin, Ga., failed to file a legal response to the order within the 10-day time limit. They also have 20 days to request a hearing.

Kilpatrick, 52, owes restitution to Detroit taxpayers and the Internal Revenue Service. Originally, he was ordered to pay more than $1.5 million to the city and $195,404 to the IRS.

It doesn’t appear that the couple has a legal leg to stand on to keep the money they’ve raised, former US Attorney Matthew Schneider told local Detroit station WXYZ. Under federal regulations, they would have to convince the court that their circumstances constitute an exception under the law that would prevent the garnishment.

“I’ve looked at the statute, and I’m not seeing any exemptions that would apply,” Schneider said. “It seems to be; this is a straight, pretty clear-cut case.”

The fundraising campaign, which they launched in June, set a goal of $800,000. It’s unclear exactly how much the couple raised. As for the donors, they are unlikely to recoup their money.

“This is more of a consumer protection message for people to realize that if you are going to give money away to somebody, you better be sure they are deserving of the money and they are the actual recipient,” Schneider said. “In this particular case, it looks like although Mr. Kilpatrick is the temporary recipient, this money is going to be garnished, and in the long run, he won’t be the recipient.”

Deputies' Union Files Bar Complaint Against Attorney Ben Crump Over Racial Remark In Arrest Of Black Teen

Civil rights attorney Ben Crump is being accused by a Florida law enforcement union of injecting race into a case involving sheriff’s deputies caught on video slamming a Black teen’s head to the pavement during a 2019 arrest.

The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that the union, which represents Broward County deputies, filed a bar complaint Thursday (July 28) against the lawyer who has been involved in numerous high-profile cases, including those of Michael Brown and Travon Martin.

According to the complaint, Crump has made “reckless and inflammatory” comments about the arrest of Delucca Rolle, who was 15 at the time. The union alleges that Crump brought up racial issues where none existed when he, for example, once referred to the encounter as an “outrageous brutality on an unarmed Black child.”

Union officials said they want to see Crump and his co-counsel in the case, Sue-Ann Robinson, lose their law license.

Crump told the Sun-Sentinel that his remarks about the case is “a First Amendment issue,” which constitutionally protects someone's speech.

“It’s a blow to freedom and justice for police to threaten and intimidate civil-rights lawyers to try and stop them from making statements in defense of their clients,” Crump said. “We will not allow these organizations to suppress the rightful expression of outrage by anyone — the Black community, the family, and least of all their lawyers. We will continue to say Delucca Rolle’s name and advocate for change.”

Meanwhile, a jury on Monday (July 25) acquitted former Broward Sheriff’s Officer deputy Christopher Krickovich of battery charges, even though he was seen on video slamming Rolle’s head on the pavement during the infamous arrest, the Miami Herald reported. The department fired him for the incident, but now he plans to get his job back through arbitration.

“Not one piece of evidence or testimony in this trial ever suggested racism was involved,” the union’s complaint stated. “Attorney Ben Crump’s comments regarding race being a factor at the onset of this case was deplorable.”

The union also took aim at Robinson, filing a similar bar complaint against her for comments she made about racism being a factor in the brutal arrest.

Like Crump, Robinson also stood by her words. “Bullying is what they do,” she said, according to the Sun-Sentinel. “I’m sure the Florida Bar is well aware of my fitness.”

Legoland New York Under Fire After Characters Ignore Black Children, Company Responds With Zero Tolerance Policy

Not again! Another children’s amusement park is under fire! Employees at LEGOLAND New York are being called out after recently ignoring a couple of Black children.

A young lady on TikTok uploaded a video claiming that her “little brother and little cousin were completely ignored by a cast member at LEGOLAND New York.”

The TikToker fully wrote:

“PLEASE SHARE. Didn’t think I would ever have to make a post like this … My little brother and little cousin being completely ignored by a caster member at LEGOLAND New York.

As you can see that man clearly skipped right past them and continued to move to the next kid. They were clearly discriminated against and to say I’m angry is an understatement.”

The video garnered responses from fellow Black TikTokers who were left in awe and went on to further condemn the children’s amusement park.

Without issuing a dedicated public statement, the company had one of its social media managers leave a comment under their latest post on Instagram.

They responded with acknowledgment of their zero tolerance policy.

The official LEGOLAND New York Instagram account responded to another IG user who said, “SEE YOU HAVE SOME RACIST A** EMPLOYEES.” The company responded:

“Providing a safe, fun environment for children and their families is our number one priority.

Our company has zero tolerance for any behavior which doesn’t make our guests feel fully included and we always strive to create an environment and experience where everyone feels welcome.”

Now this incident follows several other incidents across the U.S. Recently, there were a handful of videos popping up from hurt Black parents showing characters at Sesame Place ignoring their children, and engaging in fun with white children.

Since, one of the families denied at Sesame Place have obtained legal representation.

Bun B's Trill Burgers dubbed "Best Burger in America"

Bun B isn’t just a hip hop legend, he is also quite the entrepreneur!

According to ABC 13, the Houston native’s Trill Burgers has officially walked away with the title of “Best Burger in America,” thanks to the “Good Morning America” Ultimate Burger Spot contest.

“It’s so surreal that it doesn’t make sense,” said Bun B in an official statement. “To be in Times Square having won the best burger in America live on ‘Good Morning America,’ it’s not even in the realm of things that we would have imagined for this brand. We just wanted to put in hard work and be justified for what we did, and today we got the ultimate validation. I can’t wait to bring this burger to America.”

It was Bun B’s OG Trill Burger that allowed him to walk away with not only a trophy, but a $10,000 cash prize. Trill Burgers served the double-patty cheeseburger with onions on a Martin’s potato roll and the rest was history!

“For 30 years, I’ve put the flavors in your ear,” Bun B said during the broadcast. “Now I’m putting flavor in your mouth with the OG Trill Burger.”

The smashburger concept was founded by the UGK rapper alongside his business partners, Nick Scurfield and Andy Nguyen, as a pop-up at Houston’s Sticky’s Chicken in August 2021.

Now, he has taken the brand all over with a recent presence at Rolling Loud Miami. The burger brand also made an appearance at the 2022 Coachella Music Festival as well as Pharrell’s Something in the Water Festival.

“We did it, baby, Trill Burgers,” said Bun B in a video with his trophy in hand. “It feels amazing, man. God is good, man. My team is amazing. And we’re gonna get the best burger in America soon.”

In a caption via an Instagram post, he reiterated the news. “Trill Burgers was named best burger in America,” wrote the 49-year-old entertainer.

YK Osiris Flirts With Lizzo in Instagram Video: ‘Check Your DM’

Despite an 11-year age difference, YK Osiris isn’t shying away from shooting his shot with Lizzo.

The 23-year-old R&B singer took to his Instagram Stories on Saturday to flirt with the 34-year-old pop star, who he described as a “beautiful black queen.”

“What’s up Lizzo, I just wanted to say hey,” YK said while laying in his bed. After complimenting her physique, Osiris urged Lizzo to be on the lookout for a DM from him. “Check your DM though, alright,” he said.

Lizzo meanwhile, is no stranger to shooting her shot on social media.

While chatting with Big Boy on Real 92.3 last summer, Lizzo opened up about a time in which she slid into Chris Evans’ DMs.

“I saw a video of him hollering at this Black girl,” Lizzo shared. “It was like a paparazzi video and it was old. He was outside of this hotel or whatever and he was hollering at this Black girl. He didn’t know nobody was looking at him. He was Christopher Jamal, OK? I don’t know what happened with that, but I know it was years ago so I was like, well she probably not in the picture no more.”

She added, “There’s just something about that face. When you come up to a Black woman, you gotta come correct. And when you do come correct, there’s nothing more attractive. So I said ‘He got game a little bit. I’m single.’”

Sylvester Stallone Lashes Out at Longtime ‘Rocky’ Producer Over ‘Drago’ Spinoff

Sylvester Stallone was none too pleased to find out that MGM was moving forward with a Drago spinoff film.

Stallone posted a screenshot of The Wrap’s article about the Drago spinoff film being in the works on Instagram Saturday, along with a lengthy caption in which he took aim at longtime Rocky series producer Irwin Winkler and his children, Charles and David. “Another Heartbreaker… Just found this out…ONCE AGAIN , IRWIN WINKLER , this PATHETIC 94 year old PRODUCER and HIS MORONIC VULTURE CHILDREN, Charles And David , are once again picking clean THE BONES of another wonderful character I created without even telling me,” he wrote.

“I APOLOGIZE to the FANS , I never wanted ROCKY characters to be exploited by these parasites,” Stallone continued.

Winkler has been a producer on every single Rocky property, including the two Creed spinoffs, and upcoming third installment, which will not star Stallone. His issue with Winkler goes beyond just using his characters for solo projects. According to IMDb, Stallone sold the rights to the original 1976 Rocky film, which he wrote, to Winkler and Robert Chartoff for $350,000 because he allegedly had $106 to his name and a dog that he couldn’t feed and was trying to sell.

Rocky then became a huge hit and received three Academy Awards, including one for Best Picture. Stallone was nominated for Best Actor and Best Original Screenplay. The critical acclaim and box office success led to five follow-up films, which were written and directed by Stallone, except for Rocky V where he relinquished the director’s chair to John G. Avildsen, who helmed the original film.

After reprising his role in the first two Creed films, Stallone spoke out about not owning the rights to the billion-dollar Rocky franchise in a 2019 Variety interview. “I have zero ownership of ‘Rocky,’” he said. “Every word, every syllable, every grammatical error was all my fault,” adding, “It was shocking that it never came to be, but I was told, ‘Hey, you got paid, so what are you complaining about?’ I was furious.”

Stallone posted a series of photos on Instagram on Sunday depicting Winkler as a vampire, with another showing Winkler holding the screenplay for Drago while he and his two sons stab the character of Rocky in the back. “Presumed to be the most hated , untalented , decrepited, Producer in Hollywood and his cowardly children have found their next meal… Drago , RETURN MY RIGHTS BLOODSUCKERS,” he wrote in the caption.

Beyoncé Says ‘Renaissance’ Is A Three-Act Project In New Statement

Beyoncé’s Renaissance album is available now, much to the delight of the BeyHive. The new release is the first solo album from Queen Bey since 2016’s Lemonade, but get ready for more. In a statement before the album’s release, Beyoncé revealed this is just Act 1 as this era is a three-act project.

This three-act project was recorded over three years during the pandemic. A time to be still, but also a time I found to be the most creative. Creating this album allowed me a place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world.

It allowed me to feel free and adventurous in a time when little else was moving. My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, release, feel freedom. It was a beautiful journey of exploration.

I want to give a special thank you to Rumi, Sir, and Blue for allowing me the space, creativity, and inspiration. And a special thanks to my beautiful husband and muse, who held me down during those late nights in the studio. A big thank you to my uncle Johnny. He was my godmother and the first person to expose me to a lot of the music and culture that serve as inspiration for this album. Thank you to all of the pioneers who originate culture, to all of the fallen angels whose contributions have gone unrecognized for far too long. This is a celebration for you. Thank you to my Parkwood crew, my slab, Dream, and all of the talented producers involved. Mama, I luhhhh you. To my father, my O.G., my first teacher: You inspire me in every move that I make. I love you.

To all of my fans: I hope you find joy in this music. I hope it inspires you to release the wiggle. Ha! And to feel as unique, strong, and sexy as you are.

Love y’all deep,

B

Donald Trump’s Fantasy: Lebron James Playing Basketball as a Woman

*For whatever reason, LeBron James continues to live rent-free in Donald Trump‘s head. We know this, because out of nowhere, the former U.S. President recently commented on James playing basketball as a woman.

To some people, the suggestion came as Trump’s jibe at the transgender community and athletes considering that James identifies as a male and has never publicly expressed his opinion of being transgender.

The twice impeached ex-president made his suggestion in his speech at Turning Point USA’s Student Action Summit in Tampa on July 23. He used the words, “If I were a basketball coach of the women’s team, I would be the greatest coach of all time.”

He further added: “I’m not a fan of Lebron James at all… I don’t like him, but I’d say ‘LeBron, did you ever think of becoming a woman? Did you ever consider, because I’d like to have you on my team. I’d love to have you on our team, LeBron. But think of it, it’s so crazy what’s happening.”

From his remarks, the former president seemed to be taking a jibe at transgender athletes, which is a subject he often speaks about. He has previously called for a ban on transgender women from competing in sports. He has also made similar remarks about LeBron James possibly getting sex reassignment surgery to compete in women’s sports.

On the other side, the superstar baller has exclusively identified as male and has never expressed ideas of being transgender.

The former president has been at odds with the basketball player for a while now. For instance, sometime last year, he called him (LeBron James) racist and divisive for responding to the police killing of Ohio teenager Ma’Khia Bryant in April.

James openly criticized Trump during his presidential time in office, and at one time accused him of using sports to divide people. Unfortunately, as you can see, the rift between the two still exists to date with the former president delighting in openly targeting the NBA player.

Ying Yang Twins Member D-Roc Collapses On Stage During State Fair Performance

Ying Yang Twins member D-Roc collapsed on stage during a performance at a state fair in Springfield, MO, over the weekend.

D-Roc was 30 minutes into a set at the Ozark Empire Fair when he collapsed to the ground. Video obtained by TMZ shows security pulling him off the stage.

It’s unclear why D-Roc collapsed or if he was taken to a hospital after leaving the stage.

The Ying Yang Twins were special guests at the event, which Vanilla Ice headlined.

The outlet reports that the show continued after D-Roc was carried offstage.

JayDaYoungan’s Dad Opens Up About The Rapper’s Fatal Shooting

Louisiana rapper JayDaYoungan was gunned down outside his home on Wednesday, and now his dad is opening up to TMZ about witnessing the shooting.

Kenyatta Scott told the outlet he was sitting on the front porch of their Bogalusa home with JayDaYoungan, born Javorious Scott, when a black truck pulled up. Three people got out of the vehicle with guns.

Scott says that he and JDY, 24, tried to run inside, but two more people with guns came at them from the side. When the suspects began shooting, Scott shot back. He was shot twice and remains hospitalized.

JDY was shot at least eight times during the shootout. He was taken to a hospital where he underwent surgery but later succumbed to his injuries.

Scott believes his son was targeted due to jealousy. He does not believe it was gang-related and said his son didn’t have issues with anyone.

Bogalusa Police Chief Kendall Bullen told TMZ that the rapper’s murder is under investigation, and they are looking at all potential motives, including retaliation and/or gangs. However, investigators believe there was only one shooter, contradictory to what Scott says.

So far, no suspects have been identified, and no one has been arrested.

Report: The Nets Have ‘Not Given Up’ On Kevin Durant Retracting His Trade Request

Kevin Durant is stuck in trade request limbo. The Brooklyn Nets star wants a move, but so far, no one has been able to meet the Nets’ sky high asking price for the two-time NBA Finals MVP that stems from him entering year one of a 4-year contract. As such, the trade saga has dragged on for weeks and there does not appear to be an end in sight.

At this point, it seems plausible that Durant just does not have anywhere to go, as no one will give up with Brooklyn wants. In a new piece, Zach Lowe of ESPN floated that Nets are holding out hope that no one will be able to meet that price and Durant will have a moment of clarity that leads to him rescinding his trade request.

Even before the Minnesota Timberwolves warped the trade market by flipping five draft assets for Rudy Gobert, several smart people around the league termed the very act of trading Durant “impossible” in conversations with ESPN. There was no way to approximate fair value. A player of Durant’s caliber with so many years locked in had never before become available.

The Nets are probably waiting for Durant’s camp to realize that, and maybe for Durant to retract his trade request. The Nets have not given up on this scenario, sources say.

It’s previously been reported that the team is operating as though Durant and Kyrie Irving will be on the team this year.

Taylor Swift Responds To Report Slamming Her Private Jet Emissions

Taylor Swift has responded via a representative to a damning report that placed her at the top of a list of celebrities whose private jets produce the most carbon dioxide emissions.

“Taylor’s jet is loaned out regularly to other individuals,” the pop star’s rep told Rolling Stone. “To attribute most or all of these trips to her is blatantly incorrect.”

The report, which purported to rank the “Celebs with the Worst Private Jet Co2 Emissions,” was put together by marketing agency Yard and was based on data from the CelebrityJets Twitter account.

However, Yard itself noted that its rankings were not “conclusive,” since @CelebJets does not track every single famous person who takes private flights. For instance, the account appears to largely focus on entertainers, and the Florida college student who created @CelebJets actually has separate Twitter accounts that track the private flights of billionaires like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos.

Nevertheless, Swift made headlines after the report dubbed her the number-one celebrity CO2 polluter for the year, with her plane racking up a total of 170 flights and 22,923 minutes in the air so far.

Taylor Swift's representative said that a report calling her the worst celebrity CO2 emitter this year was "blatantly incorrect" because it includes flights from when Swift's jet was on loan to other people.

Yard crafted the report shortly after Kylie Jenner faced widespread backlash over her private jet usage, with the reality-TV star being branded a “climate criminal” on social media. But out of the celebrities in the study, Jenner was not even in the top 10. After Swift, the celebrities whose jets were ranked as seeing the most air time were Floyd Mayweather, Jay-Z, Alex Rodriguez, Blake Shelton, Steven Spielberg, Kim Kardashian, Mark Wahlberg, Oprah Winfrey and Travis Scott. Rolling Stone also reached out to the other celebrities on the list, but Swift’s rep was the only one who responded.

The average United States resident has an annual carbon footprint of 16 tons of emissions, whereas globally the annual average is around 4 tons, according to The Nature Conservancy. In contrast, the estimated carbon emissions this year from the jet Swift owns has been 8,293.54 tons.

Pat Carroll, Emmy-Winning Actress and Voice of Ursula in ‘The Little Mermaid,’ Dies at 95

Pat Carroll, the gregarious Emmy-winning comedienne who was a television mainstay for decades before segueing to a voiceover career that included portraying the villainous sea witch Ursula in The Little Mermaid, has died. She was 95.

Carroll died Saturday of pneumonia at her home in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, her daughter Kerry Karsian told The Hollywood Reporter.

Carroll’s perky personality, screwball wit and impeccable timing made her a great second banana, and Red Buttons, Jimmy Durante, Mickey Rooney, Steve Allen and Charley Weaver were among those who called upon her to make their programs funnier. Her antics on Caesar’s Hour earned her an Emmy in 1957, and she was nominated for her work on the classic variety show the following year.

In a 2013 interview with Kliph Nesteroff, Carroll compared Howard Morris, Carl Reiner and Sid Caesar on Caesar’s Hour to the Chicago Cubs’ legendary double-play combination of Tinkers to Evers to Chance.

“I learned so much about comedy from watching those three work together. It was unfailing,” Carroll said. “They worked together for so long that they had that innate sense of each other’s timing. It was impossible for them to fumble. We did two shows every Saturday night because one was for the West Coast and one was for the East Coast. If they totally abhorred a sketch they did, those three would sit in Sid’s dressing room with the writers and write a brand new sketch. Yes, amazing.”

For the next two decades, the bubbly blonde always seemed to pop up on TV.

Carroll played Bunny Halper, the high-spirited wife of nightclub owner Charley Halper (Sid Melton), on three seasons of The Danny Thomas Show in the early ‘60s; was Hope Stinson, who shared ownership of a newspaper with Ted Knight’s character, on the last season (1986-87) of Too Close for Comfort; and appeared opposite Suzanne Somers on the 1987-89 series She’s the Sheriff.

Carroll stood out as a cranky patient who shared a hospital room with Mary Richards (the latter was there to have her tonsils taken out) on The Mary Tyler Moore Show in 1971, and she portrayed Lily Feeney, the mother of Cindy Williams’ character, on a 1976 installment of Laverne & Shirley.

Her TV credits also included Cinderella, Please Don’t Eat the Daisies, Love, American Style, My Three Sons, Police Woman, Busting Loose, The Love Boat, Trapper John, M.D., Evening Shade, Designing Women and ER.

Carroll also was a game show favorite. To Tell the Truth, The Match Game, I’ve Got a Secret, Password All-Stars, You Don’t Say and The $10,000 Pyramid — you name it, she played it.

And she played Doris Day’s matchmaking sister in With Six You Get Eggroll (1968).

Carroll’s throaty laugh and spirited intonations made her a natural for animation work.

She first slipped into the recording booth in 1966 for the animated series The Super 6. But it was during the ‘80s that her voiceover career skyrocketed; she could be heard on the cartoons Yogi’s Treasure Hunt, Galaxy High School, Foofur, Pound Puppies and Superman.

Undoubtedly, her most memorable character was Ursula for the 1989 Disney feature The Little Mermaid. It would prove to be one of her favorite roles. “It was a lifelong ambition of mine to do a Disney film,” she told author Allan Neuwirth in Makin‘ Toons: Inside the Most Popular Animated TV Shows and Movies. “So, I was theirs hook, line and sinker.”

Carroll’s enthusiasm made the octopus-like character uniquely her own and Ursula would become one of Disney’s most memorable villains. However, she landed the part only after an arduous search by the studio.

Little Mermaid producer and lyricist Howard Ashman was a big fan of TV’s Dynasty and envisioned Ursula as a Joan Collins-type. And who better to play her than Collins herself? Alas, her agent quickly nixed the idea.

Writer-directors Ron Clements and John Musker saw Ursula more like a bellowing aquatic version of Bea Arthur, but her agent took offense when the script likened the actress to a witch — and passed. Roseanne, Heart’s Nancy Wilson and Nancy Marchand of The Sopranos fame then reportedly read for the role, but none was quite right.

Charlotte Rae and Elaine Stritch auditioned, but Rae didn’t have the vocal range for Ursula’s signature tune, “Poor Unfortunate Souls,” and Stritch couldn’t deliver the song the way Ashman wanted.

Carroll, though, immediately understood Ashman’s approach. The key was a recording that he had made of him singing the song. Once Carroll heard and saw that, the rest was easy.

“He gave me that performance! Come on, I’m honest enough to say that,” she said in Makin‘ Toons. “I got the whole attitude from him … his shoulders would twitch in a certain way, and his eyes would go a certain way … I got more about that character from Howard singing that song than from anything else.”

Carroll won the part and went on to voice the character in several video games and a 1993 Little Mermaid CBS series. (She also provided the voice for Morgana in the 2000 direct-to-video release The Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea.)

Patricia Ann Carroll was born on May 5, 1927, in Shreveport, Louisiana. When she was 5, she and her family moved to Los Angeles. At age 20, she served as a Civilian Actress Technician for the army, writing, producing and directing all-soldier productions. She graduated from Catholic University in Washington, D.C. in 1949.

Carroll’s first professional appearance had come in 1947 alongside Gloria Swanson in a regional stock production of A Goose for a Gander. This led to more stock company roles, and she also sharpened her comic chops by performing in nightclubs and resorts.

Carroll’s off-Broadway debut came in 1950 in Come What May. Shortly after, she began landing television work on Goodyear Television Playhouse, The Red Buttons Show and The Saturday Night Revue.

Carroll first starred on Broadway in 1955 in the musical revue Catch a Star! written by Danny and Neil Simon. The performance earned her a Tony nomination. Decades later, Carroll received rave reviews for her off-Broadway, one-woman show Gertrude Stein Gertrude Stein Gertrude Stein: A One-Character Play.

In his 1979 review for The New York Times, Walter Kerr wrote: “Miss Carroll, working from a text prepared by Marty Martin, gives us the bizarre, close-cropped, richly robed woman who could be — and once was — mistaken for a bishop with a zest that is awesome … I don’t know precisely how Miss Carroll is able to do it, but she manages — without any effort at all — to make us share Gertrude Stein’s attitude toward herself.”

The actress received a Drama Desk Award for her portrayal of the author; she beat out fellow nominees Moore, Susan Sarandon, Phyllis Frelich and Blythe Danner for the honor.

Carroll was married to Lee Karsian from 1955 until their divorce in 1976, and they had three children: Tara, an actress; daughter Kerry, a casting director; and son Sean (he died on the same date as his mom 13 years ago).

Survivors also include a granddaughter, Evan.
