Gugu Mbatha-Raw for Tatler UK February 2022

‘The Girl Before’ plot-line involves challenging subject matter that includes stillbirth and baby loss, leaving the actor looking for somewhat lighter roles in the near future — a  more ‘carefree energy’, Mbatha-Raw told another media outlet.

The reference to ‘carefree energy’ is smile-worthy as it relates to an absolutely charming Oprah story that the actor shares with Tatler’s Helena de Bertodano in their interview.  Her big break came in 2013, with her lead role in the award-winning film ‘Belle’, where she played Dido Elizabeth Belle.
It was after she appeared on a talk show to publicise Belle that Oprah Winfrey called her. At first she thought she was imagining things: ‘I was doing Oprah and Deepak Chopra’s 21-day meditation experience and it was around the end of that time that I got a call from her. I didn’t answer it because I didn’t recognise the number. And then I played the voicemail: it was like, “Hi, it’s Oprah.” It was that voice, so iconic, that I’d been listening to every day and I thought, “This is so surreal.” A lot of these meditations are focused on manifesting your best life and I thought, “Whoa, have I just manifested Oprah on my voicemail? This meditation is powerful stuff!”’

‘RHOP’ Alum Monique Samuels And Husband Chris To Star In OWN’s ‘Love & Marriage: DMV’
Monique Samuels has scored a new reality show after being axed from “The Real Housewives of Potomac.” The former “Housewife” will star in OWN’s “Love & Marriage: DMV” alongside a new cast of characters. “DMV” stands for D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. The show will be the second franchise in the “Love & Marriage” series. The original show, “Love & Marriage: Huntsville” recently wrapped a strong third season, and fans will soon be introduced to a brand new cast of couples when LAMDMV premieres next year.

Monique is reportedly responsible for pulling together the new friend group, which includes herself and her husband, Chris Samuels, Erana and James Tyler, Ashley Brittney and Robert Silva, and Tasha and Neil Lyons, according to a report by TV Deets. A photo of the new cast was recently splashed on Instagram, giving viewers a peek at the new OWN crew. Viewers will get to know the couples as they navigate relationships, their families, and businesses in the D.C. area.
Monique and Chris Samuels will be familiar to lots of viewers, from their days on RHOP. The new series will focus on their marriage, their family life, and the couple’s businesses.

Erana and James are expected to add a dramatic flair, as they reportedly frequent the D.C. party scene. They describe themselves as entrepreneurs and operate an online women’s clothing store called iVision Boutique. They are also involved in credit consulting and real estate.
Tasha and Neil Lyons are part of The Lyons Den Group, a real estate firm serving D.C. and Maryland. Tasha is also a celebrity hairstylist and has styled Monique in the past.
Ashley Brittney, who calls herself a “mompreneur,” runs an online kids clothing store called “Fashion Ashton.” Ashley’s husband, Roberto Silva, aka DJ Quicksilva, hosts D.C. radio show, the “Quick Silva Show,” on 93.9 WKYS FM.
A production source told the outlet that the show will kick off filming in January. The production company behind the project is Kingdom Reign Entertainment, headed by Carlos King, the former executive producer of the “Real Housewives of Atlanta.”

Insiders report that some of the RHOP ladies are laughing off the series, amid rumors that some on the OWN cast had shot down opportunities to join the Bravo reality show.

In August, Monique claimed that she rejected an opportunity to appear on an upcoming “Real Housewives” All-Stars spinoff series due to her past issues with the network. The Bravo alum spilled the tea on her YouTube channel, “Tea with Monique,” according to Instagram account @realhousewivesfranchise.

Fans know that Monique made her exit from the series over her violent altercation with Candiace Dillard-Bassett, which was featured during Season 5. She later put Bravo on blast for treating her “less than human” ahead of the Season 6 premiere.

OWN has enjoyed success with the Alabama-based show, “Love & Marriage: Huntsville,” which follows three African-American couples as they navigate personal and professional ups and downs.

Both the new franchise, “Love & Marriage: DMV” and “Love & Marriage: Huntsville Season 4,” are expected to premiere in 2022.

#HipHopNews: Tyler, The Creator Is Thinking Of Changing His Stage Name
Call him by his new name. Tyler, the Creator has had his stage name since he was 13, but he may soon be opting for a new moniker. In an interview with Fast Company, the Call Me If You Get Lost rapper revealed the origins of his name.

“My stage name was from, I made a MySpace page when I was 13,” he said. “I had three of them, one was regular for friends, another one was for something else, and then the third one was just ideas. I would put drawings and photos I would take, and like, my beats, I would upload ’em on there.”

After he started gaining recognition, he decided to keep Tyler, the Creator as his stage name. “It’s really dumb, but it stuck with me so it just works,” he added.
But his days as Tyler, the Creator could be numbered. Now 30 years old, Tyler is considering using his real name, Tyler Okonma, for upcoming projects.

“But my full name, Tyler Okonma, in all caps just looks really cool,” he said. “So you might see more of that, I don’t know, I’m getting older and I think when people get older, they start to realize shit and liking things they didn’t like. You just start changing, so I think my version of that is looking at my name and saying, ‘Oh, this is actually cool.'”

At first, he felt disconnected to his government name. “I always thought my last name was weird, but whatever,” he said. “I started fu**ing with it more around 2016, and then I started putting it on my album covers.”

His birth name has made more recent appearances, including on the cover of his 2019 album IGOR. “I really f**k with that name now. It looks really cool in all caps,” he said.

While paying tribute to Virgil Abloh, Tyler revealed that the late fashion designer inspired him to embrace his last name.

“Few years back I started using more of my African last name OKONMA because of how regal Virgil’s felt,” he wrote. “Everything he did felt like he said ‘hey over here, coast is clear’ whenever I questioned things.”

It’s been an eventful year for the Golf Wang founder, who released his Grammy-nominated album Call Me If You Get Lost in June. Earlier this month, he launched his first fragrance, French Waltz.

#BoxOfficeNews: ‘Spider-Man’ Soars Past $600M Domestically
Sony and Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home rang in 2022 in style, earning another $52.7 million over New Year’s weekend to become the 10th biggest film in history at the domestic box office after collecting $609.9 million through Sunday, not adjusted for inflation.

Globally, the webslinger has set a slew of records, including becoming the first film of the pandemic era to clear the $1 billion threshold at the worldwide box office, a feat it accomplished without China.

Spider-Man is a huge win for Sony and starts off the new year on a positive note for Hollywood and stressed-out theater owners. It’s the first film to do pre-pandemic level business despite a surge in COVID-19 cases due to the omicron variant.

It even helped push domestic revenue for the year to $4.5 billion (several weeks ago, analysts were predicting $4.4 billion), according to Comscore. While 2021 revenue was up a staggering 101 percent from 2020, it still lagged significantly behind 2019, or 60 percent. Cinemas didn’t reopen in earnest until spring, making exact comparisons difficult. Comscore and the National Association of Theatre Owners note that revenue is down only 40 percent from 2019 when excluding the first quarter of 2021.

Overseas, No Way Home added another $78.3 million to its coffers this weekend for a foreign tally of $759 million and $1.37 billion worldwide to rank as the 12th highest-grossing movie of all time after passing up Black Panther ($1.35 billion), not adjusted for inflation. And on Tuesday, it passed up Spider-Man: Far From Home ($1.13 billion) to become the top-grossing Sony release of all time.

Universal and Illumination’s family Sing 2 was the other big Christmas winner. Now that kids ages 5 and older can be vaccinated, family films are picking up. Sing 2 stayed at No. 2 over New Year’s weekend with $19.6 million for a 14-day domestic gross of $89.8 million. Internationally, it grossed $17.2 million for a foreign tally of $54.9 million and $144.6 million worldwide.

Also on the family front, Disney’s Thanksgiving offering Encanto — which remains in the top 10 — finished the weekend with more than $90 million in the bank domestically and $205.7 million worldwide.

Meanwhile, the male-fueled The Matrix Resurrections and The King’s Man both continued to disappoint after tepid Christmas openings.

Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow’s Matrix — which is also available on HBO Max — was especially mopey over New Year’s weekend as it got overtaken by both King’s Man and American Underdog, a Christian movie about NFL quarterback Kurt Warner.

King’s Man, from 20th Century and Disney, came in No. 3 with $4.5 million for a 14-day domestic total of $19.5 million and global showing of $47.8 million.

Lionsgate and the Erwin Brothers’ American Underdog grossed an estimated $4.1 million for a nine-day domestic total of $15 million.

Matrix Resurrections rounded out the top five with $3.8 million for a 14-day domestic tally of $30.0 million. The film fell notably more than any other title in the top 10 — or 64 percent — revealing the impact of also being available in the home.

The reboot is faring better overseas, where it is getting an exclusive theatrical release. The film’s foreign total stands at $75.1 million for a global cume of $106 million.

Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story continued to lag, earning $2.1 million for a domestic total of $39.6 million and $47.2 million globally. The musical opened in early December, but wasn’t able to find its holiday groove.

At the specialty box office, Licorice Pizza stayed in the top 10, grossing $1.5 million in its second weekend of expansion for an early total of $6.3 million (it is playing in far fewer theaters than other nationwide release, or 786 locations).

Licorice Pizza, from MGM and United Artists, placed No. 8, followed by Sony’s Chirtmas Day release A Journal for Jordan. The Sony film, like many adult dramas, is struggling to find its audience, earning $1.2 million from 2,500 theaters for a domestic total of $4.7 million.

Sony Pictures Classics’ specialty offering Parallel Mothers enjoyed a strong second weekend with a per location average of $10,079 from three theaters in New York and Los Angeles.

Among other award contenders, it’s impossible to say how a slew of movies backed by Netflix, Amazon Studios and Apple+ are doing in their limited runs in select theaters since grosses aren’t disclosed. They include The Tragedy of Mabeth, Becoming the Ricardos, The Tender Bar and Swan Song.

Jermaine Dupri’s New Vegan Ice Cream Line Debuts In Walmart
Jermaine Dupri is back with another remix — this time, a new spin on everyone’s favorite frozen dessert. The ‘So So Def’ producer, who has been a vegan for nearly 20 years, partnered up with Walmart to debut his new line of ice cream, JD’s Vegan, in over 700 stores across the country.

Created in collaboration with ice cream expert Malcolm Stogo and Big Innovations Group Inc., the new ice cream is made from a base of coconut cream to deliver a thick texture without animal-derived ingredients.

JD’s Vegan initially launched last month with three decadent flavors: Welcome to Atlanta Peach Cobbler; Apple Butter; and Strawberry Sweetheart, with three new flavors added this week: Key Lime Pie, Chocolate My Way, and (404) Cookies & Cream. Dupri partnered with Walmart exclusively to sell JD’s Vegan online after the launch, but now the ice cream pints are also available in-store.

“We really did it!!! Yes!” he captioned an Instagram post. “I’m over the moon, 736 Walmart stores out the gate. Go to JDsvegan.com, type in your zip code and find what store is close to you.”

Dupri is no stranger to the vegan game. The “Confessions” producer was inspired to start the line of gluten-free, plant-based, non-GMO frozen treats after noticing a lack of quality vegan dessert options.

“Walmart and I share the same vision of providing consumers with the best products and making healthy alternatives accessible to everyone,” Dupri said. To make his vegan ice cream affordable and accessible to the general public, the frozen desserts are $6.47 per pint.

In a statement obtained by TMZ the actor’s PR team celebrated his life: “During Julien’s decades-long career, he was known for being bold, honest and straightforward. He would live and speak his own truth both professionally and privately. He was thought of as a rare ‘man among men.’”

Julien was born in Washington, D.C. on January 1, 1933. He attended Howard University before he began his career on Off-Broadway productions and Shakespeare in the Park. His first on-screen roles, according to IMDB, were in the films Psych-Out and Getting Straight.

Antonio Brown Removes Jersey, Storms Off Field In Dramatic Team Exit
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown pulled off his jersey and left the field before the end of his team's 28-24 win over the New York Jets on Sunday, hastening his exit from the organization.

Head coach Bruce Arians said after the game that Brown, 33, was "no longer a Buc."
Brown's display included removing his jersey, his shoulder pads, his undershirt and his glove; giving the crowd a peace sign; and leaving MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

According to Jay Glazer of "NFL on Fox," which aired the game, Arians repeatedly ordered Brown into the game but was refused, prompting him to send Brown to the locker room.

"Never seen anything like it in all my years," Arians was quoted as saying.
In a post-game news conference, Tampa Bay quarterback Tom Brady urged compassion and empathy for Brown, suggesting that he may need "help."

"We all love him," he said. "We care about him deeply. You know, we want to see him be at his best, and, you know, unfortunately it won't be with our team."
After he left the stadium, Brown tweeted a photo of himself in casual winter clothing. It was accompanied by the words "Super Gremlin," as well as by an emoji of the "shaka," or "hang loose," hand symbol.

Sunday's display was only the latest stormy chapter in Brown's career.
In 2019 he spent one game with the New England Patriots before he was released as he steadfastly denied sexual assault allegations. At the time, he said he would no longer play in the NFL.

Brown, a former All-Pro wide receiver, was accused in a lawsuit of sexually assaulting a former trainer. His attorneys denied the allegations and countersued, and the court battle culminated in a settlement last year. Brown was never charged in connection with the accusations.

Olivia Munn snuggles with her and John Mulaney's newborn son, Malcolm: 'Happy New Year'
Olivia Munn is embracing motherhood in 2022. The actress, 41, took to social media this weekend to post an adorable photo of herself snuggling with her weeks-old son, Malcolm Hiệp Mulaney. Wearing a pink sweatshirt and smiling brightly, Munn showed that she's clearly enamored with the newborn son she shares with comedian John Mulaney, 39.

Dressed in a gray sweatshirt and white sweatpants with tiny striped socks, Baby Malcolm looked equally as joyful as he stared back at his mom.

"Happy New Year," Munn captioned the heartwarming post.
Munn and Mulaney have been having plenty of fun with their newborn son, including sharing some sweet photos of Malcolm in a steamer pot as Munn's mother prepared bánh bao, which are Vietnamese steamed buns.

Dressed in a onesie emblazoned with "Future All-Star" on the front and a pacifier in his mouth, baby Malcom stared up at his father, who held up the little one as he was placed in a pot.

"LOL Daddy's new bánh bao recipe," Munn wrote on the Instagram Story.
Munn and Mulaney first introduced their little boy to the world on Christmas Eve with another sweet photo shared to both of their accounts. In the adorable shot, baby Malcolm is wrapped up in a fuzzy white blanket and sporting a pastel blue baby hat. Munn called him "My Golden Ox baby, Malcolm Hiệp Mulaney" in her version, while Mulaney introduced his son with his trademark humor.

"Meet Malcolm Hiệp Mulaney. He has his whole life ahead of him. He hasn’t even tried seltzer yet. I’m very in love with him and his whole deal," Mulaney captioned the photo. "Happy Holidays."

Back in September, Mulaney spoke about dating Munn and becoming a father during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers. He shared how much the journey to parenthood has helped him navigate his newfound sobriety, for which he had recently completed a stay in drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

“She got to date me right out of recovery, which is what they call a reverse catch,” Mulaney joked of the relationship. “And that's been very incredible. And she's kind of held my hand through that hell. And we're having a baby together.”

Mulaney continued, saying that "Olivia and this baby have helped save me from myself in this early journey out of recovery."

Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Personal Twitter Account Permanently Suspended
Controversial GOP Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene had her personal Twitter account permanently suspended on Sunday by the social media platform. The company said Greene repeatedly violated the platform’s COVID-19 misinformation policy.

Greene’s account was previously suspended for tweeting misinformation about coronavirus and the presidential election. Twitter released a statement regarding the ban but did not specify what Greene wrote to earn a permanent ban.

“We permanently suspended the account you referenced (@mtgreenee) for repeated violations of our COVID-19 misinformation policy,” said the social media platform in a statement. “We’ve been clear that, per our strike system for this policy, we will permanently suspend accounts for repeated violations of the policy.”

Green still has access to her congressional Twitter account, @RepMTG.
In a statement released through her office, Greene called Twitter “an enemy to America.”
“Social media platforms can’t stop the truth from being spread far and wide. Big Tech can’t stop the truth,” the statement read, in part. “Communist Democrats can’t stop the truth. I stand with the truth and the people. We will overcome!”

A policy was put in place in March of last year by Twitter. A strike system was implemented, earning user suspensions for repeated violations. Five or more offenses can result in a permanent ban.

The ‘Office’ star David Koechner Has Been arrested for DUI
‘Home Alone’ star charged with domestic assault for alleged attack on girlfriend
Fetty Wap arrested at Newark airport on outstanding warrant
Jana Duggar charged with endangering the welfare of a child

It’s unclear at this time if the arrest will affect the tour in any way.

Britney Spears Unfollowed Sister Jamie Lynn Spears on Instagram Amid Family Rift
In 2022, Britney Spears is shedding the things and people that no longer serve her. As she enjoys her newfound freedom after 13 years under conservatorship, as well as her engagement to long-term partner Sam Asghari, the star no longer has time for certain family members.

E! News confirmed that the singer recently unfollowed her younger sister Jamie Lynn on Instagram. At time of writing, the younger Spears still follows her famous big sister.

Jamie Lynn spoke out about Britney's conservatorship after she had detailed the awful conditions she lived under for 13 years in a June hearing. On Instagram Stories, Jamie Lynn said, "I felt like until my sister could speak for herself and say what she felt she needed to say publicly, it wasn’t my place and it wasn’t the right thing to do. But now that she’s very clearly spoken and said what she needed to say, I feel like I can follow her lead and say what I feel I need to say."

#FreeBritney activists had previously criticized Jamie Lynn for not publicly supporting her sister in her battle to end her conservatorship.
Britney took to Instagram in July to call out Jamie Lynn for not being there for her as she said she had been. "My so-called support system hurt me deeply," the star wrote at the time. "I don't like that my sister showed up at an awards show and performed MY SONGS to remixes."

The singer again echoed this sentiment on Instagram in October, writing, "This message is to my family ... for hurting me deeper than you'll ever know !!!"

Later, a source told Us Weekly that the star didn't intend to invite any of her family to her wedding. So Britney unfollowing Jamie Lynn on social media only makes sense in this series of events.

Ghislaine Maxwell’s Brother Says She Won’t Tell For Leniency
Convicted sex offender Ghislaine Maxwell isn’t telling on anyone for a lighter sentence, her brother told The Sunday Times of London.

Ian Maxwell, 65, said that while his sister faces up to 65 years in jail, she doesn’t plan on cooperating with prosecutors. “Prosecution confirmed no plea bargains offers were made or received,” he told the outlet. “I expect that position to be maintained.”

The madam, 60, has remained tight-lipped about others involved in Jeffrey Epstein’s sex-trafficking network. This should come as a relief to Maxwell’s alleged co-conspirators, including four women who worked for them. Others who will be happy about her silence include high-profile men linked to the abuse of underage girls, including Prince Andrew.

Maxwell says his sister has maintained her innocence and plans to appeal her conviction. “She is a fighter and a survivor,” he said.

George Lopez Gets Sick During NYE Comedy Set And Walks Off Stage
George Lopez had to cut his NYE comedy show short after feeling ill during his performance.
In a short video clip that was posted online,  you can see the comedian appearing to have some trouble on stage. Lopez was performing at the Muckleshoot Casino Resort in Auburn, Washington, at around 4 PM when he began to struggle.

According to eyewitness Sabrina Alvare, who spoke with TMZ, the comedian was 30 to 45 minutes into his set when he started sweating and asking for water.

“You could tell something was wrong, but it was not clear what was wrong,” Alvarez said.
Lopez apologized to his audience as he stopped the show and left the stage.
The publication reported that an ambulance arrived at the casino, but it is unclear whether or not it was there for Lopez.

The comedian tweeted on New Year’s Day, “Thank you @AlaskAir,” but no mention of the incident on NYE.
