When Halle Berry first read the script of her most recent film, Bruised—which she directs and stars in—she knew it wasn’t going to work for her. The Netflix movie, about a troubled mixed martial arts fighter who tries to get back into the sport when she regains custody of her son, was clearly written for an actress who could play an Irish Catholic woman in her early twenties. Berry was drawn to the intensely physical and emotional story, and identified with the motherhood subplot, but she recognized that the lead role would have to be reworked if a Black woman in her fifties was going to play her—even if it was a Black woman who has looked ageless for her entire career.
Another actress was considering the project, and Berry’s agent told her to wait to see if the film came to her instead. “I couldn’t stop thinking about it, and I became obsessed,” Berry says. When the other actress eventually passed, Berry was ready. “I was then able to make my pitch for how I could reimagine it for someone like me,” Berry says. She helped rework the screenplay, and after meeting with several potential directors, she realized that she might be the best person for that job, too. The resulting film is harrowing and deeply affecting, with Berry again doing what she does best: showing us a complicated Black woman in a way we haven’t seen before onscreen.
Bruised shows Berry doing what she does best: portraying a complicated Black woman in a new way. But this time around, she’s also behind the camera.
“I started my career 30 years ago when Black women didn’t really have a prominent place in the industry, so I understand what it is to fight for what you believe in.”
Berry has seemed to be everywhere lately—posting photos of her boyfriend, the musician Van Hunt, on Twitter; uploading her workout videos on Instagram; tweeting with fans about her older films, like the Black comedies B.A.P.S and Boomerang, that get new waves of online praise. It’s fitting joy for an actress who has consistently pushed boundaries—from being the only Black woman who’s ever won a Best Actress Oscar to producing and starring in a film about pioneering film star Dorothy Dandridge. “Some of these movies were way before their time, and it’s nice to go back and have the conversation with people who appreciate them for what they were,” Berry tells me.
She grew up watching boxing movies like Raging Bull; she loved the idea of a “strong, noble man” who triumphs in the end. “Fighting for the right to be is something that I know,” she says. “I started my career 30 years ago when Black women didn’t really have a prominent place in the industry, so I understand what it is to fight for what you believe in. I love stories that are about redemption, allowing people second chances—and in our case, last chances. I love knowing that we can all make mistakes and be forgiven.” Being a mother, she adds, has also given her insight into the kinds of sacrifices a mother is willing to make, and how a child can motivate a person to be her best self. In the film, Berry’s character gives up her son and then, “full of fear and self-loathing and doubt,” soon leaves fighting. It is only when the father of her child dies and her son is left on her doorstep that she is motivated to return to competition.
“It was one of the hardest things that I have ever done, and that I’ll probably ever do,” Berry says. “I don’t really think I will ever direct and act in a film in quite this way again; it was a monster role. I had a lot of pressure.” She trained for nearly two years while simultaneously revising the script. Berry had done some boxing and capoeira, but learning mixed martial arts was “pretty intense.”
Berry had to learn new skills as a first-time director, too. She had met with around 12 filmmakers when searching for an outside director, but none of them seemed to understand the story she wanted to tell, the Black female perspective she wanted the film to have. “As I’ve gotten older and as I’ve grown in the business, I’ve been feeling like storytelling is what I would probably do in my second act,” Berry says. And so she decided to ask the producers whether she could direct the movie herself.
The professional mixed martial arts fighter who played her rival, Valentina Shevchenko, tells me that filming was one of the highlights of her year. She and Berry trained for five hours every day over two months—“She’s in incredible physical shape,” Shevchenko says—for their fight scene. “From the direction side, it was very easy to work with Halle because she can explain what she has in mind and what she wants from you,” Shevchenko says. “She’s trying to find an approach to everyone in a unique way.”
Berry wants to direct again, but she’s prioritizing staying well in the meantime. She considers herself spiritual, and takes the time to meditate and read self-help books to be a better mother and person. During the lockdown, she started rē•spin, a wellness website, to help people be healthy at home. And she is happy to see her industry finally evolving in the wake of last year’s racial uprising. “For so many years, it felt like making a way out of no way. When I was starting out, the landscape was very, very different than it is now,” Berry says. “I’m grateful that I’m still here, and I’m a part of this awakening. Because I really feel inspired by what’s happening now.”

#HipHopNews: Meek Mill Teases Retirement From Rap!
Hot on the heels of his album Expensive Pain, the Philly rapper revealed that he’s planning to step away from rap within the next few years. During an interview with Complex’s “360 with Speedy Morman,” the 34-year-old teased his possible retirement.
“I got like three, four more years left,” said Meek. “I’ve been rapping since I was 23. I can’t be performing forever. I probably got two, three more years. I think these the last years I’m going hard with music and I’m gonna go pursue like other stuff too.”
The process of creating music and touring has taken a toll on him. “I’ll still make music but going on tour, working on the album, six months being away from my family that long, I give up,” he said. “Let the young ni**as come up next…and just move me out of the way.”
Meek said he plans to release “four or five more albums” before transitioning to a different role.
He still plans to rap, but he won’t be doing it at the level he is now. “I’ll still be rapping…but I ain’t gonna make that my priority of my day job.”
But first, he plans to release an “Extendo Pack” of his fifth studio album Expensive Pain, which will feature additional tracks including a possible collaboration with Pop Smoke.
On Saturday, Meek will headline his “Meek Mill and Friends” concert at New York City’s Madison Square Garden with special guests Lil Uzi Vert, Fivio Foreign, 42 Dugg, and more.
Wendy Williams’ absence from her talk show will continue into November!
As Wendy Williams continues to recover from health issues, her hiatus from her daytime talk show has been extended into November.
The “Wendy Williams Show” announced on Instagram Tuesday that comedian Whitney Cummings will guest host next week and former “The View” panelist Sherri Shepherd will guest host the first week of November.
Many fans in the comments section seemed unpleased that the show would continue with a rotating door of guest hosts.
“We want WENDY WILLIAMS! PERIODT,” one person commented.
Another remarked, “This is definitely Wendy’s last season. 🙁”
Cummings, 39, tried to appease the naysayers, writing, “Nobody can ever replace Wendy but we will do what we can to fill in so she can come back stronger than ever.”
“Shes gone so hard for so long and as much as I miss seeing her every day, just imagine how hilarious she’s gonna be after some time to take care of herself and have some quiet time to think! ❤️” the “2 Broke Girls” co-creator added. “feel free to send me topics you guys want covered! We all wanna make Wendy proud.”
The “Wendy Williams Show” also sent out a press release Tuesday that included a statement from Shepherd, 54, that said, “I’m so excited to return to the Wendy Williams Show to host for a full week!”
“I had such a great time when I hosted the show in 2019 and I’m flattered that Wendy and the producers put their trust in me to fill in again,” she continued. “I’m sending my love and well wishes out to her.”
Executive Producer David Perler added, “We look forward to having both of these talented and entertaining women in the ‘Wendy’ studio as guest hosts in the upcoming weeks. We can’t wait to see what they have in store for our viewers!”
Reps declined to comment on how Williams, 57, is currently doing and why her hiatus needed to be extended.
Last week, the host’s production company, Debmar-Mercury, cited ongoing health issues as the reason for Williams’ absence.
“She is making progress, but is experiencing serious complications as a direct result of Graves’ Disease and her thyroid condition,” their statement said. “It has been determined that more time is needed before she is able to return to her live hosting duties.”
Williams was initially scheduled to start her new season on Sept. 20, but pushed it back several times due to health complications, including testing positive for a breakthrough case of COVID-19. She was later reportedly taken to the hospital and for a mental health evaluation.
Multiple sources have said that the delay of Williams’ show is starting to become a huge problem for station affiliates and advertisers.
“The Wendy Williams Show” has been on the air since July 2008.
Elijah McClain's family settles lawsuit with Aurora, Colorado, over His Death!
The mother of Elijah McClain, a Black man who died days after a violent confrontation with police in 2019, has settled her federal civil rights lawsuit against Aurora, Colorado, her attorneys said Monday.
No additional details available about the settlement in Sheneen McClain's lawsuit. Her attorneys, Qusair Mohamedbhai, Siddhartha H. Rathod, Loren M. Brown and Daniel A. Wartell, said only that "allocation of the proceeds" between Sheneen McClain and Elijah McClain's father, Lawayne Mosley, were being determined.
A city spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for information. The city confirmed the settlement to NBC affiliate KUSA of Denver.
The suit alleged that the city, three police officers, two paramedics and the medical director of Aurora Fire Rescue violated McClain's civil rights when a chokehold was used during the confrontation and he was injected with ketamine.
McClain, 23, was subjected to "brutal force" and then sedated for a dubious medical condition called "excited delirium," the suit said.
"Elijah was listening to music, enjoying the short walk home from the corner store with some iced tea when Aurora police officers grabbed, tackled, and assaulted him," the lawsuit said of the confrontation on Aug. 24, 2019.
Three officers responding to a call of a suspicious person wearing a mask stopped McClain as he walked home from a store. His family said he wore a mask because of a blood condition that often made him feel cold.
McClain told officers that he was an introvert and asked them to "please respect the boundaries that I am speaking," according to audio from police body camera recordings.
Officers grabbed him after questioning, and a chokehold was applied. One of the officers said he believed McClain had reached for a holstered service weapon during a struggle.
During the confrontation, McClain told police, "I can't breathe, please," which was recorded on police video.
After he was handcuffed, arriving paramedics injected him with ketamine, a hallucinogenic anesthetic. Seven minutes later, he went into cardiac arrest, according to a prosecutor's report.
McClain died at a hospital three days later. The cause of death was not determined.

"Aurora Fire appears to have accepted the officers' impression that Mr. McClain had excited delirium without corroborating that impression through meaningful observations or diagnostic examination of Mr. McClain," a report commissioned by the City Council concluded early this year.
The man's death sparked national protests as part of the Black Lives Matter movement.
A state grand jury indicted three officers and two paramedics last month on manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and other charges.
Aurora Officers Randy Roedema and Nathan Woodyard have been suspended without pay indefinitely, and Officer Jason Rosenblatt was fired.
Rosenblatt was accused of responding to a text message that included imagery of officers mocking a chokehold near a memorial for McClain with the words "ha ha."
Records indicate that the officers have a court date Nov. 1. The court schedule for the paramedics who were charged could not be accessed.
The Aurora Police Association has stood by the officers, saying they did nothing wrong. "The hysterical overreaction to this case has severely damaged the Police Department," it said.
The group did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the settlement.
The Aurora Fire Fighters Protective Association did not immediately respond to an inquiry about the indictment and the settlement.

Tia Mowry Says Her Eczema Was Misdiagnosed: 'It's Prominent Within the African American Community'!
Tia Mowry is getting candid about her eczema. In honor of Eczema Awareness Month, the actress shared her story with PEOPLE Magazine in hopes of raising awareness for those who might be suffering from eczema without getting properly diagnosed.
"Eczema is definitely a chronic condition that's very prominent within the African American community but unfortunately, there's a huge percentage of people suffering with eczema and it actually goes underdiagnosed," she says. "And that happens to be a part of my story. I'm definitely a part of that percentage."
Mowry was diagnosed with eczema when she was in her 20s but says her journey actually began when she was a child, seeing her mother — and later herself — suffer from it without knowing what the condition was.
"When I was young, I had these round spots on my back on my arms, and they were raised and they were itchy," Mowry reveals. "But when my mother would take me to the pediatrician, the doctor told us they were sunspots… and that was definitely not what I had."
She says the beauty industry is lacking when it comes to Black skin health, noting, "Where there's lack of visibility, there was no information, there were no educational tools, there were no resources. So, we didn't really know how to identify eczema on our skin tones."
Following her diagnosis, the actress says she "felt alone" because she didn't know anyone else going through the same thing, specifically another person of color.
"It was overwhelming, especially being in the public eye, like how do you deal with this?" the Tia Mowry's Quick Fix host says.
After sharing her story, Mowry partnered with Aveeno not only to find relief for her eczema but for the company's #SkinVisibility campaign, which raises awareness of the underdiagnosis of eczema for African Americans and works to increase visibility for the community in the beauty industry.
"I feel like that's why I'm extremely passionate about representation and why it is so important. When you see someone that resonates with you, or that looks like you, it makes a huge impact," Mowry adds. "And so when there is no visibility — when you, as a community, are not being included in marketing and advertising, you feel not included."
The former Sister, Sister star says her new found knowledge has even allowed her to take better care of her children — daughter Cairo Tiahna, 3, and son Cree Taylor, 10 — who also suffer from eczema.
Mowry explains that she was shocked to learn that the condition can be triggered by certain things and she's realized what works best for herself compared to Cairo and Cree. She shares that for her, once she changed aspects of her diet, she "saw a huge shift and a change with my flare ups."
But she attributes her progress with her skin health to her "amazing" husband and the people in her corner.
"Support, I feel like, is the most important thing and to be able to have someone to talk to," Mowry says. "I didn't know many people besides my mother that were suffering from eczema and not too many people were talking about it. So it was really nice to have that built-in support from my husband."
"You're not alone," she ensures those struggling with skin health like her. "There are many sufferers out there who are going through the same thing that you're going through… at the end of the day, that's what this is all about."
Flavor Flav Arrested For Domestic Battery!
Flavor Flav found himself back in the slammer earlier this month following a domestic violence incident.
According to TMZ, the rapper and reality star was arrested in Nevada on Oct. 5 by the Henderson PD. The Public Enemy co-founder was booked on a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery. So what happened? well, the criminal complaint obtained by TMZ states that Flav allegedly poked his finger on the alleged victim’s nose, threw her down, and grabbed a phone out of her hand. The City Attorney reportedly confirmed that Flavor Flav has been charged with misdemeanor battery constituting domestic violence.
However, Flavor Flav’s attorney David Chesnoff told the news site that “in alleged domestic violence cases, there are often 2 sides to the story and we will explain our side in the courtroom and not in the media.” No further details were shared on the incident.
Meanwhile, this might come as a little shock to some of his fans as the entertainer seemed to be doing well. Flavor Flav’s manager even told TMZ that Tuesday will mark one year of sobriety from alcohol for Flav. His rep added that it’s been 15 months since he quit smoking cigarettes.

CNN’s John King Reveals That He Has Multiple Sclerosis!
John King revealed on Tuesday that he has multiple sclerosis during a segment of Inside Politics in which the discussion turned to Covid-19 vaccine mandates.
“I’m going to share a secret I have never spoken before. I am immunocompromised,” King said. “I have multiple sclerosis. So I am grateful you are all vaccinated. I am grateful my employer says all of these amazing people who work on the floor, who came in here in the last 18 months when we are doing this, are vaccinated now that we have vaccines. I worry about bringing it home to my 10-year-old son who can’t get a vaccine. I don’t like the government telling me what to do. I don’t like my boss telling me what to do. In this case, it’s important.”
The discussion was triggered in part by the death of former Secretary of State Colin Powell of complications from Covid. He had been vaccinated, but also had a form of blood cancer, multiple mylenoma, that made him vulnerable. In addition, Powell was 84. Age increases the likelihood of a Covid-related death, according to the CDC. The former Secretary of State also had Parkinson’s which, while it does not increase the risk of getting Covid, “does make it harder for you to recover if you contract it,” according to the nonprofit Parkinson’s Foundation. Some right wing media figures cited Powell’s death in making the case that the vaccines are not effective.
King said during the segment, “Now and then something big comes along, forgive me Fox News, is what makes America exceptional is when we all set down our personal preferences for the good of the team. The good of the team here is to come together and not spread that.”
On Monday night, Fox News’ Tucker Carlson led his show with Powell’s death and said that it showed that Americans have been “lied to” about the effectiveness of vaccines. At the end of his show, Carlson did say that he “left out that Powell was suffering from a number of different health problems.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, vaccines are far more effective in preventing serious injury and death due to Covid. “Some people who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will still get sick because no vaccine is 100% effective,” the CDC said.
During King’s segment, the CNN chyron read, “Right wing media use Colin Powell’s death to question vaccines when unvaccinated face 11X higher risk of dying from Covid.”
Later, King told Boston Public Radio that his disclosure “was not planned. It is a secret I have kept for a long time except for a very few people very close to me in my life.”
He said that the disease is progressive slowly in me “and I am very lucky.”
“MS sucks, forgive my language,” he told hosts Jim Braude and Margery Eagan. “Every day you are dealing with it in some ways. But there are people who are dealing with it in more profound ways than I am.”
He said that he told his story after playing Carlson’s segment and “it just pissed me off, and it came out…When you have this misinformation about vaccines in a way that threatens people — 727,000 Americans have died of Covid. They are all American treasures, just like General Powell was. If we can do anything to protect them, we should do it, even if we have to set aside a personal preference or personal principle.”
He added, “You don’t have to agree about mandates, but don’t lie about science.”
King, 58, who is CNN’s chief national correspondent. He joined the network in 1997.
Katie Couric calls Matt Lauer ‘disgusting,’ ‘abusive’ in awkward ‘Today’ return!
Katie Couric made an awkward return to the “Today” show Tuesday — ripping her disgraced former co-host Matt Lauer as “disgusting” and “abusive.”
Couric, 64, smiled nervously as Savannah Guthrie quizzed her about her new book’s “snark” and “brutally honest” put-downs, including attacks on former colleagues on the NBC morning show that she was on for 15 years.
Couric insisted the attacks have “been wildly misrepresented” — except for those against Lauer, who’d been her TV partner there for nine years.
She fully ripped into him after earlier being accused of being too soft and defensive when her then-beloved pal started getting accused of sexual misconduct, leading to him getting booted in November 2017.
She complained Tuesday that it had been “really, really hard” when the disturbing accusations emerged, admitting she initially found them too hard to believe.
“It took me a long time to process what was going on, because the side of Matt I knew was the man I think you all knew: He was kind and generous and considerate, a good colleague,” she recalled.
“As I got more information and learned what was going on behind the scenes, it was really upsetting and disturbing,” she said.
She “did some of my own reporting” and “really tried to excavate what had been going on.”
“And it was really devastating, but also disgusting,” she seethed.
“What I realized is there was the side of Matt I never really knew. And I tried to understand why he behaved the way he did — and why he was so reckless and callous and honestly abusive to other women,” she said.
Now the two “have no relationship,” she insisted.
Despite savaging Lauer for his behavior, Couric in part blamed sexism in the TV world on the “very permissive environment in the ’90s,” saying, “I think permissive environments often result in serious transgressions.”
Noting the “seismic societal changes” she has lived through, she also defended her admission in her book that she was unwelcoming to “charismatic female correspondents” in a bid to “protect my turf.”
“I think that when there are very few jobs for women and men are making decisions — not necessarily based on the right criteria — that sometimes you do get insecure, and sometimes you do get territorial,” she told Guthrie. “I think it’s human nature.”
Asked if she “ever actively [tried] to sabotage” female colleagues‘ careers, Couric insisted, “Never! Never, never, never.I think I just wish that maybe I had extended myself more and shown people the ropes a little bit more. But I think when people are outwardly kind of vying for your job, it is hard to be generous,” she said.
She said it was part of her aim to “share the messy parts” of her life and career, including her controversial decision to remove part of a Ruth Bader Ginsburg interview to “protect” the Supreme Court justice.
Guthrie told the former host that she’d not used “that objectivity that’s so important to us journalists,” even asking if it “undermines journalism at a time when reporters are under attack for bias like that.”
Couric instead said she’d only made the revelation in her book to “be transparent about the decisions we make,” admitting that the conclusion might be that “maybe that wasn’t the right one.”
“Ultimately, I think I should have included it,” she said of RBG’s cut comments about kneeling during the national anthem.
“What I wish I had done is asked a follow-up to clarify, or just run it and let her clarify it later,” she admitted.
Couric insisted she was “comfortable” that her book was showing “all sides” of her life.
“I’ve had huge successes — I’ve had some pretty public failures too. I’ve embarrassed myself — I’ve been proud of myself,” she told Guthrie

On Monday (Oct. 18), Crazy Legs, who appeared on stage during Big Daddy Kane and KRS-One’s infamous battle, revealed he chopped it up with the emcee and gave him his flowers hours before learning some interesting information about Busta’s current hunt.
“I had to let @bustarhymes know that no one is worthy enough to battle him,” Crazy Legs wrote next to a photo of him, Swizz Beatz and Busta Rhymes. “Then he told me that 5 people already turned it down. Busta’s alleged conversation with Crazy Legs aligns with sentiments previously explained by Fat Joe. Last month, while speaking to viewers of his Instagram Live show, the Bronx emcee shared his belief that artists are simply afraid to go head-to-head with the “Touch It” star.

Chris Brown is having a field day with jokes about Kanye West’s new hairstyle. On Tuesday (Oct. 19), one day after Yeezy debuted his new look, the “Go Crazy” singer took to his Instagram story to poke fun at the Donda rapper.
Next to a picture of Kanye’s new cut, Chris joked that the Chicago emcee “asked the barber for the fucked up worldwide fade.” “Nigga wanna make ‘what the fuck’ in style,” he went on before adding a third comment: “He got the punishment haircut.”
In a follow-up post, Breezy shared a photo of a damaged Los Angeles Dodgers hat, teasing that it was a creation specifically made for Kanye by his longtime friend Virgil Abloh.
In another image, Stevie Wonder is photoshopped to look like the barber behind Ye’s new cut. “Nigga just wanted a line up,” he captioned the pic.
Chris’ jokes come after he called Yeezy out for making changes to the song “New Again.” The track initially featured the singer’s vocals on a verse and on the chorus of the track. When Donda finally made its way onto streaming services, however, he noticed his verse was missing.
“Kanye a whole hoe,” he vented on Instagram before adding, “Nah he tweakin” in another tweet. Days later, he let his fans hear audio of his verse, and now, Chris’ vocals have been removed from Donda altogether. As previously reported by REVOLT, an updated version of the rapper’s recently-released project was uploaded to streaming platforms. Yeezy’s Sunday Service Choir is now heard on the song.
While Breezy and social media users make a laughing stock out of Kanye, the Chicago rapper, whose legal name is officially Ye, has been flaunting his new haircut while wearing creepy prosthetic masks. Though it can be assumed that Ye is in the mood for Halloween, it’s likely that his masks may be part of his new project. He reportedly filed a trademark to use “Ye” for a line of fashion and sanitary masks.

Eve sat down with The Breakfast Club this morning and revealed she found out about her pregnancy right before her Verzuz battle with Trina.
“Well, what’s crazy is, that’s when I just found out I was pregnant,” Eve told The Breakfast Club. She said, at the time, she had to tell Swizz Beats that she wasn’t going to be able to fly to Miami to be there with Trina in person.
“I was supposed to fly to Miami and at the last minute, I didn’t. I had to tell Swizz and he was like, ‘All good sis. We got you.’ Of course, my brother—I love him so much. So I was stressed out. I was like, ‘Am I standing too much?’ I kept thinking about the baby. … ‘Am I screaming too much? Can you rap when you’re pregnant?’ That’s all I thought about. I don’t know, it’s my first kid.”
Later on in the interview, Charlamagne asked Eve if her Trina had a history.
“Trina is my people,” Eve said. “In the beginning of the business, me, Trina, and Missy would hang out all the time because I lived in New York, so I would just go to Miami and Missy was like our big sister.”
Cam Newton Fully Vaxed, Wants To Be Back In NFL!
Cam Newton says he has received his COVID vaccine and wants to be back on an NFL team.
The free agent was let go as the New England Patriots starting quarterback after coach Bill Belichick said he put his faith in rookie Mac Jones.
Belichick maintains Newton’s vaccination status had nothing to do with the decision. However Cam missed several practices due to a “misunderstanding” on team protocols regarding un-vaxed players.
On his YouTube channel, Newton said he’s now vaccinated and has spoken with some teams, but is waiting for the right offer.
“Long story short, I’m just waiting for the right opportunity,” Cam revealed. “You’re probably asking yourself, ‘Don’t nobody want Cam?’ That’s a lie. I’ve been getting offers. But the realization of it is it has to be right.”
Cam shared that he wants back in the NFL so badly that he was vaccinated against COVID-19. Which is something he had initially been reluctant to do.
He added no one should be judged for their COVID-19 vaccination status.

Darius McCrary Denies He’s Dating Trans Model Sidney Starr After Post Sparks Rumors!
“If I wasn’t with my mama, I would really be saying this a whole other way,” McCrary responded. “Stop running with these rumors.”
In a now-deleted story posted to The Shade Room, transgender Love & HipHop star Sidney Starr claimed that she and actor Darius McCrary have been dating since February.
Starr first posted a story of the two at a photo shoot earlier this week. In the caption, she wrote, “Here standing next to me is a seasoned legend Actor in this entertainment industry,” while tagging McCrary.
“A Black heterosexual male actor who’s standing aside a controversial transgender woman like myself. We are great friends… and this is a powerful movement we have made to let this be a lesson to the WORLD that we are all human! No matter what!!!”
McCrary replied to the post, writing, “I stand w/my family and that’s all that #matters.”
In another post, a video, Starr wrote Monday, “We both are just built special!!!!! 2 hardworking celebrities in the industry!!!!!!! Eddie Winslow, we love you!!!! @dariusmccrary ! We hear y’all talking !!! #transisbeautiful #familymatters.”
A post from The Jasmine Brand implied that the two are dating. “Sidney Star & Eddie Winslow (aka Darius Mccrary) are giving some PDA,” it read. “According to @theshaderoom the trans reality star and actor have been dating since February.”
But in another video posted on Instagram Monday, McCrary was spotted having dinner with his Family Matters “mother,” actress Jo Marie Payton, and in it, he says “…Listen y’all, when y’all are discussing these rumors that are not true, we eating.”
He also asked his detractors, “What, are we in high school? You gonna tell me who I can be friends with, who I can’t hang out with? I am a grown man, I’m really five years away from 50, so if I wasn’t with my mama, I would really be saying this a whole other way, but I am with my mama. Stop running with these rumors.”
“And I think that my fiancée would really have something different to say,” McCrary contended. “That’s what y’all should really be focusing on — where that ring is.”
McCrary and his reps have said Starr’s posts are a “desperate” attempt to propel the transgender reality star back into the spotlight.
In a statement to The Shade Room, a representative of the actor wrote, “McCrary has kept an amicable friendship with Starr, who has been persistent with creating fake storylines and relationships with our client in a sad attempt to get back on Love & Hip Hop: New York.”
Meanwhile, Starr has since posted another image of herself and McCrary in her Instagram story, noting, “I’m always the villain, huh? WTF!”

On Tuesday, roughly 24 hours after Colin Powell‘s death, Donald Trump released a statement criticizing the former secretary of state and slamming positive media coverage about Powell following his death.
“Wonderful to see Colin Powell, who made big mistakes on Iraq and famously, so-called weapons of mass destruction, be treated in death so beautifully by the Fake News Media,” Trump said in a statement released Tuesday morning. “Hope that happens to me someday. He was a classic RINO, if even that, always being the first to attack other Republicans. He made plenty of mistakes, but anyway, may he rest in peace!”
