Colin Kaepernick Graces Cover Of ‘Ebony’ Mag, Talks Activism, New Projects & A Possible Return To NFL

Colin Kaepernick—the athlete and activist who put his convictions before his career and flooded the world with a Pacific Ocean’s worth of white tears just by starting the practice of kneeling during the national anthem as a show of support for Black lives—will be gracing November’s cover of Ebony in an issue that features an exclusive interview with The View’s Sunny Hostin and two members of the Lower Eastside Girls Club.

The aforementioned four discussed Kaepernick’s “journey over the last four years, his continued fight for change, his adoption by a white family and how that shaped him, and the possibility of him returning to the NFL,” per a release.

The former 49ers QB also talked about his nonprofit Know Your Rights Camp, his upcoming Netflix series Colin in Black & White and his new book Abolition for the People: The Movement for a Future Without Policing & Prisons.

“The biggest lesson I want to share is you don’t have to accept the status quo; you don’t have to accept what is currently happening,” Kaepernick told Hostin. “You have the power and ability to have an impact and create the change and bring about the future that you want. I think we can do that personally, I think we can do that collectively, and I think in doing so all of those actions add up to the ability to change larger systems.”

This is Kaepernick’s first interview in a good while, and just the fact that he’s still even talking about a possible return to the NFL “regardless of the actions of 32 teams and their partners to deny me employment”—as he said in the interview—is enough to have readers intrigued.

Kaepernick will certainly go down in history with the likes of Olympians Tommie Smith and John Carlos, and current greats like LeBron James, as an athlete who knows he’s Black first and is unwilling to “stick to sports,” “shut up and dribble” or dance in the way America often expects Black-and-proud athletes to for their paychecks.

Drake and Travis Scott team up on “Bubbly,” while Post Malone and A$AP Rocky join forces on “Livin It Up.” The 20 tracks also include appearances from the late Mac Miller and Juice WRLD, plus Gunna and fun.’s Nate Ruess.

I always had that mindset, like, ‘I’m not rapping about what everybody else is rapping about.’ No matter what is popping. But this time, it was just like, ‘You know what? I’m going to do it.’ Just to show ni**as I can do it.’ This sh*t is easy.”

To promote the album, Thug performed for NPR’s Tiny Desk concert and even destroyed a Rolls-Royce.

Ryan Reynolds Announces He’s Taking “Little Sabbatical From Movie Making”!

Ryan Reynolds took to Instagram on Saturday to announce that he’ll be taking a “little sabbatical from movie making,” after wrapping production on Apple TV+ film, Spirited.

“That’s a wrap for me on Spirited. Not sure I’d have been ready to say yes to a film this challenging even three years ago,” the actor-producer wrote. “Singing, dancing and playing in the sandbox with Will Ferrell made a whole lotta dreams come true. And this is my second film with the great @octaviaspencer…”

Reynolds added that with his latest shoot completed, it’s the “perfect time” for a break.

“I’m gonna miss every second working with this obscenely gifted group of creators and artists,” he continued. “These days, kindness matters as much as talent. I’ve been lucky to work with folks who are flush with both.”

Reynolds’ hiatus comes following the release of two 2021 action comedies: Lionsgate sequel Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard and Free Guy, a major box office hit from director Shawn Levy. He’ll next be seen opposite Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot in Rawson Marshall Thurber’s globetrotting Netflix action pic, Red Notice, which is scheduled for release November 12.

Reynolds also serves as a producer on Spirited, which is a musical retelling of Charles Dickens’ classic novella, A Christmas Carol. A premiere date for the Apple pic, from directors Sean Anders and John Morris, has not yet been set.

Patty Jenkins Confirms 'Wonder Woman 3' at DC FanDome!

Great news for Wonder Woman fans – we’re getting another movie!

While appearing at the DC Fandome on Saturday (October 16), franchise director Patty Jenkins and the original Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter, confirmed that the threequel is still in the works.

Patty continued, “We are all three very excited about some things coming up with Wonder Woman 3.”

“Wonder Woman 3 is coming!” Lynda added.

The first Wonder Woman movie was released back in 2017 to rave reviews. The sequel, Wonder Woman 1984, was released in December 2020, but reviews weren’t all that great.

In an interview from over the summer, Patty talked about Wonder Woman 1984 being released in theaters and on HBO Max at the same time, calling the situation “heartbreaking.”

Where is DWTS's JoJo Siwa's girlfriend Kylie Prew?

JoJo Siwa's best friend and girlfriend, Kylie Prew, has been her biggest cheerleader since she joined season 30 of Dancing with the Stars, but we are now just a few weeks into the competition and fans are wondering where she is.

The 18-year-old has been open about how incredible she thinks Kylie is and her feelings have been publicly reciprocated by her partner too.

However, neither of the teens have mentioned one another on social media since they appeared together prior to Disney week and JoJo's social media followers are wondering why.

The former Dance Moms star hasn't had time for a social life recently as she's thrown herself whole-heartedly into the show with her dance partner, Jenna Johnson.

While they've had hoards of fans cheering for them from their armchairs at home and in the audience itself, Kylie appears to have disappeared.

JoJo touched upon some personal issues in her life with a lengthy Instagram post recently, in which she wrote: "My brain has never been so overwhelmed/overloaded with not only work but also personal life," and added: "Even though this week has been one of the hardest in my life for so many different reasons, it’s also been one of the best."

JoJo hasn't elaborated on what's been going on off-screen, but her fans have speculated that perhaps all is not well between the star and Kylie.

On Instagram, some of her social media followers said they had seen Kylie back in her home state of Florida.

They also commented on the fact JoJo has been calling Jenna her "best friend," a title previously reserved for Kylie.

JoJo's fans are worried about where Kylie has gone

Of course, the couple may well just be flying under the radar for any number of reasons and if their tributes to one another earlier in the year are anything to go by, fans have no reason to worry.

JoJo gushed about her after only a month of dating when she shared a tribute to Kylie and wrote:  "She seriously is the most loving, supportive, happiest, protective, and just the most beautiful perfect person in the world. And I get to call her mine!"

They were actually friends for a year before things became romantic and JoJo said: "Since then I have been the happiest I have ever been."

In turn, Kylie said:  "Fall in love with your best friend, guys. It’s THE BEST feeling in the entire world. Here's to one month with my favorite human. i love you sharky."

'The Conners' star Katey Sagal recovering after being struck by a car!

Katey Sagal was hit by a car while walking across a Los Angeles street on Thursday. As first reported by TMZ, The Conners actress was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where she was treated and continued to recover on Friday,

Sagal, whose long list of credits also include Sons of Anarchy, Rebel, Married with Children, 8 Simple Rules and Futurama, was "going to be fine" and was expected to go home within hours, a source close to her told Yahoo Entertainment.

Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Sagal had been hit at a crosswalk at 11:40 a.m., as a driver at the wheel of a Tesla made a left turn. No arrests were made or citations issued, but the investigation continues.

Sagal, 67, has been married to Kurt Sutter, the executive producer of Sons of Anarchy, since 2004. Following the TMZ report, he made a dig at Harvey Levin, the website's founder: "Must have been a slow news day at TMZ," he wrote. "Police told us it was Harvey Levin driving the Tesla."

Sutter and Sagal, who's also a singer, share a teenage daughter. Sagal has two adult children from a previous marriage.

In an October 2012 interview with NPR's Terry Gross on Fresh Air, Sagal described how her husband created her Anarchy character, the gritty Gemma Teller Morrow, for which she won a Golden Globe award in 2011.

"If you asked him, what he would tell you probably is when he came into my life, I already had two children, and he's their stepparent, and I was very protective of my children," Sagal said. "He hadn't been around that kind of energy quite so much, so I think that's what was the springboard for Gemma. It was not so much the heinous things she does; it was that at her core, her motivation is her children, is her child. At any cost, she will protect him and her club."

On The Conners, Sagal plays Louise, who married John Goodman's character, Dan, on Wednesday's episode.

Jussie Smollett trial date set after judge denies dismissal request!

Actor Jussie Smollett will face trial over his alleged hate crime hoax beginning in late November, after a Chicago judge on Friday denied his lawyer’s Hail Mary pass at getting the case dismissed.

An attorney for the former “Empire” star argued that hauling Smollett into court would amount to a violation of his rights, since he had already performed community service and given up a $10,000 bond as part of a previous on-prosecution agreement with the Cook County state’s attorney’s office.

“A deal is a deal. That’s ancient principle,” attorney Nenye Uche said.

But Judge James Linn disagreed, saying that he would not interrupt the case, which is now being led by a special prosecutor appointed by another judge.

Linn said jury selection in Smollett’s trial would begin on Nov. 29.

The embattled actor, who is black and gay, is accused of lying to police when he reported he was the victim of a racist, homophobic attack in downtown Chicago in 2019.

He was charged with filing a false police report when investigators discovered he allegedly paid two brothers to stage a hate crime against him because he was unhappy with his salary.

Those charges were controversially dropped by Cook County State Attorney Kim Foxx’s office. A judge then assigned a special prosecutor to the case, who charged Smollett with six new counts of disorderly conduct in Feb. 2020.

Smollett, 39, has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Vanessa Bryant Might Have To Take Psychiatric Exam For Lawsuit Over Helicopter Crash Photos!

Months after settling a lawsuit with the helicopter company that produced the helicopter her husband, Kobe and her daughter Gianna died in, Vanessa Bryant is in the midst of dealing with a separate legal matter.

According to a Saturday (Oct. 16) report from Deadline, Los Angeles County has asked Vanessa to submit a psychiatric evaluation for the lawsuit she’s filing against them. The case stems from county fire and sheriff’s department employees sharing photos of from the scene of the crash that killed Kobe, Gianna and seven other passengers in Calabasas, California on Jan. 26, 2020.

L.A. County wants Vanessa and others in the suit to take the exam to determine whether their emotional distress was caused by the sharing of the photos or the crash itself. L.A. County is arguing that it was the latter.

Vanessa Bryant and families of crash victims settle wrongful death lawsuit against helicopter company

According to L.A. County, Bryant and the others are suing them for tens of millions of dollars for a case that hinges on the way their mental state was affected by the events of January 2020. They say that, despite this, Vanessa and company have refused to submit to any independent medical examinations. The trial is set to begin in February.

This news arrives a couple of months after what would have been Kobe Bryant’s 43rd birthday. On that day, Vanessa used an Instagram post featuring an image of herself and Kobe to commemorate the occasion.

Vanessa Bryant honors “best girl dad” Kobe Bryant with Father’s Day tribute

When Kobe was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame this past May, she shared some touching words on his legacy as she accepted his induction.

“There will never be anyone like Kobe. Kobe was one of a kind. He was special, he was humble off the court but bigger than life,” she said. “To all of our close friends and family that have been present for my girls and I, thank you. That list is long and it takes a village but know that your kindness and love does not go unappreciated. I know that Kobe is thankful that you’re all coming through for his girls.”

USC’s Dawn Staley Becomes Highest Paid Black Women’s Basketball Head Coach With $22.4 Million!

On Friday, the University of South Carolina announced that women’s basketball head coach Dawn Staley signed a 7-year contract worth $22.4 million. The contact will take her through the 2027-28 season.

The contract makes Staley the highest-paid Black head coach in her sport. She is now also one of the highest-paid women’s basketball coaches in the country.

According to school officials, Staley’s salary will be $1 million per year, with outside compensation starting at $1.9 million the first year and rising by $100,000 each season.

“It’s always been an honor to represent the University of South Carolina, and this contract represents the University’s commitment to supporting me and our women’s basketball program,” Staley said in a statement. “Contract negotiations are challenging, but this one was especially important as I knew it could be a benchmark, an example for other universities to invest in their women’s basketball programs, too.”

In 13 seasons with the Gamecocks, she has led the team to three NCAA Final Fours and won the 2017 NCAA Championship. Staley was chosen as National Coach of the Year in 2020. That same year, she led the school to a number one ranking before the playoffs were cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“Dawn Staley is one of the nation’s top coaches, regardless of the sport,” said Ray Tanner, the South Carolina Athletics Director. “She has built our women’s basketball program from the ground up, and her teams have produced champions, both on and off the floor.”

Staley also won a gold medal as coach of the Women’s National Team in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. She has been named the head coach of the U.S. Women’s National team from 2017 to 2021.

The women’s basketball season kicks off November 1, with the Gamecocks’ season opener scheduled for November 9 against North Carolina State.

Banksy's Self-Destructing Painting Sells For Over $25 Million, Setting Auction Record

The bottom half of the canvas of "Girl With Balloon,” arguably Banksy’s best known work, shredded itself after its original 2018 sale.

The self-destructing art piece created by Banksy sold Thursday for a record for the mysterious British street artist, according to Sotheby's auction house.

The piece, "Love is in the Bin," originally sold at auction in 2018 for about $1.4 million at Sotheby's London in a viral stunt. The bottom half of the canvas of "Girl With Balloon," arguably Banksy's best known work, began to shred as soon as the gavel hit, sealing the original sale.

Its estimated sale price in September was £4 million to £6 million, or $5.54 million to $8.31 million.

The partly shredded piece was placed for auction Thursday and sold for £18.582 million, or more than $25.4 million, the auction house announced. Thursday's sale broke Banksy's record from March, when a painting showing a boy playing with a toy nurse as a superhero sold for more than $20 million.

Banksy, the street artist whose real identity remains shrouded in secrecy, posted a video to Instagram that said a shredder was put inside the frame years ago, with a caption that read, "The urge to destroy is also a creative urge." Banksy attributed the quotation to Pablo Picasso, but it was actually said by Mikhail Bakunin, a 19th century Russian who was a leading theorist of anarchism.

Macaulay Culkin Says He’s Not In Home Alone Reboot!

Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin says he won’t be appearing in the upcoming reboot. Directed by Chris Columbus and written by John Hughes, Home Alone premiered in November 1990. The first entry in what would turn into a franchise, the movie turned Culkin into a celebrity and grew into an overwhelming box office success. It reached a total of $476.7 million worldwide to become the highest-earning comedy of all time, maintaining that title until the release of The Hangover Part II in 2011.

It was announced in 2019 that a Home Alone reboot was in the works, which would be titled Home Sweet Home Alone. In the new version, written by Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell of Saturday Night Live, with Dan Mazer directing, Max Mercer (Archie Yates) is accidentally left behind when his family travels to Tokyo for the holidays. In the same vein as the original, which followed Culkin’s Kevin McCallister, Max finds himself having to defend his home via creative means when two married robbers (played by Ellie Kemper and Rob Delaney) try to break in and steal a precious heirloom. At the time, it was also reported that Culkin would reprise the role of Kevin in a cameo.

Culkin, who recently starred in American Horror Story, has posted on Twitter to clarify that he will not be appearing in Home Sweet Home Alone. Though he wished good luck to everyone involved with the production, the actor stressed that he wasn’t involved in the reboot. You can see Culkin’s tweet below.

Questions about the reported cameo likely increased after the debut of the Home Sweet Home Alone trailer, as it did not include Culkin. While there is always a chance that the actor is issuing a public denial in order to preserve the surprise of Kevin’s return, his statement seems definitive. When the reboot was initially announced, Culkin shared a comedic though fairly uneventful take on what an updated Home Alone would consist of. In photos, posted by Culkin himself, Kevin eats food on the couch by himself while browsing on his laptop.

Arriving on Disney+ on November 12, the cast of Home Sweet Home Alone will also include Ally Maki, Kenan Thompson, Chris Parnell, Aisling Bea, Pete Holmes, Timothy Simons, and Mikey Day. And, in terms of cameos from the original actors, Devin Ratray will be back as Buzz McCallister. But according to Culkin, fans shouldn’t expect to see a grown-up Kevin sharing his wisdom and passing on the torch to a new protagonist.

Lizzo Clapback At Haters Who Criticized Her Revealing Dress!

Lizzo has a message for all of her critics! On Monday, the singer made an appearance at Cardi B’s 29th birthday party. In typical Lizzo fashion, the 33-year-old wore a purple see-through, eye-catching dress made with iridescent crystals. While many people sent praises to Lizzo, some were not feeling her outfit of choice.

On Thursday, Lizzo took to Instagram Live to send a clapback to her haters who took shots at her outfit.

“It’s very funny to me that people are upset that I’m wearing a see-through outfit or that I’m twerking in a see-through outfit. [They’re saying], ‘This is disgusting’.. Don’t you have bills to pay? Don’t you got mouths to feed, including your own? Don’t you want to fall in love and make friends? Go read the news, b—ch before I read you, ho. The f**k!Why are you worried about me?”

During her 10 minute speech to her haters, the singer stands up and reveals her bottom to the camera, telling everyone to “kiss my a**!”

And if that wasn’t enough, Lizzo also goes on to tell her critics to “watch your motherf—king values and watch your motherf—king values.”

“Stay the f—k off my motherf—king page. Keep your comments to your motherf—king self, bitch. Let me do whatever the f—k I wanna do,” she said. “Remember when people minded their own f—king business? #TBT to when people minded their own f—king business. Those were the days, boy. Where people could just wear what they want and there wasn’t a motherf—king parade or conversation or commentary about it.”

While addressing the trolls, Lizzo mentions that she doesn’t care if people are mean to her because that’s just a part of the internet.

“I do this because y’all continually disrespect human beings like it’s a sport. It seems like every single day, somebody’s disrespecting somebody on the Internet. Let people live, bro. Let people wear whatever the f—k they wanna wear.”

As a result, the naysayers did not stop Lizzo from delivering a “light twerk to bless ya timeline.”

Bow Wow complains about “Millennium Tour” before squashing issues with Omarion phone call!

Looks like it’s been squashed!

Things were briefly looking grim for the rest of the “The Millennium Tour,” but now it looks like they’re back on track.

On Saturday (Oct. 16), Bow Wow jumped onto Twitter to voice his frustrations with the tour, and hours later, he suggested an alternative trek for himself and Chris Brown. However, after a phone call with Omarion, things are apparently all sorted out.

“Just got off phone w O. Tonight gone be one for the ages,” Bow Wow wrote in a tweet. “I promise you that! Im going CRAZY i swear to god!” For his part, Omarion reciprocated the vibes with a tweet of his own, writing, “Energy!! energy!!”

Omarion hits the “Omarion Challenge” on “The Millennium Tour,” fans lose their minds

While things are looking okay now, there was a moment when it seemed like this tour was flying off the rails. With his initial tweets, Bow Wow made known his frustrations.

“Too much bitching and complaining on this tour,” tweeted the Like Mike actor. “Im bussn cats asses EVERY NIGHT! Every night they try and complain and take something away from me! I give 1000% and yall know it! ATL I HOPE YALL SHOW TOGETHER! IMA BUSS YALL ASS FOR 45 mins straight! TRY ME!”

In subsequent tweets, Bow Wow spoke on his set being shorter than other artists on the trek, which includes artists like Ashanti, Ying Yang Twins, Pretty Ricky, and more.

He also indicated that he could be jumping ship. “This might be my last show! ….. I’ve had enough,” Bow Wow wrote.

Omarion, Bow Wow, and Soulja Boy link up for new single “Ex”

In another tweet, Bow Wow said that he should have waited to team up with Chris Brown for a tour instead. “I knew i shoulda waited this out…. Shoulda rested up and did 2022 with my bro @chrisbrown.”

Considering the struggles that have gone on to make this tour happen, Bow Wow dropping out would have been pretty ironic. “The Millennium Tour” was originally supposed to unfold last year, but it was postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Back in June, Bow Wow and Omarion announced new dates for the tour.

There’s no telling how things will unfold from this point on, but luckily for fans, Bow Wow and Omarion seemed to have put whatever was bothering bow wow behind.
