Pierce Brosnan for Gentleman’s Journal - Summer 2021!

Pierce Brosnan reflects on his struggle not to have a father figure in his life, saying it makes him “value” his loved ones.

The actor, 68, spoke candidly in an interview with Gentleman’s Journal on Thursday for their summer 2021 issue, explaining how his childhood influenced his parenting style.

He said, ‘I cherish a lot of family. I cherish being a father. I didn’t grow up with a father figure or a close-knit family.

‘I cherish family very much’: Pierce Brosnan reflected on his struggle not to have a father figure when he was young in an interview with Gentleman’s Journal on Thursday

“There was a deep rift, a certain isolation and a loneliness that wielded the miraculous power of my imagination. I had to do it with my own feeling and intuition.

“So I appreciate and love the family. Kely [Shaye Smith, his wife] is the most amazing mother and wife – I’ve watched her grow up for over 27 years, watch our lives blossom and grow together. And there are many more dreams to be dreamed up.’

Pierce and Keeley share sons Dylan, 24, and Paris, 20, while the James Bond star also has son Sean, 37, and adopted son Chris, 48, as well as his late adopted daughter Charlotte with late wife Cassandra Harris.

The actor adopted Cassandra’s children Chris and Charlotte after their father Dermot Harris died in 1986.

Cassandra tragically died of ovarian cancer at age 43 in 1991, and Charlotte sadly also died of the disease at age 42 in 2013.

Pierce’s father Thomas left him and his mother May when the actor was a baby, and he has previously admitted he had a “rather lonely” childhood.

The Mama Mia! star also spoke about his experience during the coronavirus pandemic, saying: “Last summer was actually a great summer too.

‘Ironic. Because we were in lockdown on the island. I painted, I gardened, I swam. And we did that every day. And Keely cooked meals and we went for walks.

“But all this in the midst of the terrible pandemic and this source of fear that people lived with every day – this acute awareness of suffering and pain.”

He continued: ‘I have lost two friends to Covid. Dear, dear friends. And yet we found ourselves in this kind of idyllic landscape.

“So it was only after that that we really felt like we’d had this great summer. I feel gratitude that I have had that in my life.’

Pierce Brosnan is the cover star of the Gentleman’s Journal Summer 2021 issue. Read the full interview at thegentlemansjournal.com.

#RHOA: How Phaedra’s Comments on Lil Nas X Changed Fan Perceptions Of Her Returning to the Show!

Fans once wanted Phaedra Parks to return to The Real Housewives of Atlanta, but after the terminated alum spoke out against Lil Nas X's recent performance, a lot of people don't want her to come back. Phaedra has lived a low-profile life since her removal from the franchise. However, she still appears to be the subliminally shady housewife she portrayed on the show.

Phaedra was axed after the four-part The Real Housewives of Atlanta season 9 reunion when the shocking allegations she made about Kandi Burruss were revealed. She became the first and only housewife to get the boot for making up a nasty lie about one of her co-stars. During her time on the show, it was no secret that Phaedra was a traditional Southern Christian. She prided herself on her relationship with the church, and on maintaining family values despite her ex-husband's questionable behavior on and off the show. In her first season, the cast made fun of her for seemingly lying about when she got pregnant because she didn't want her mother to know that she conceived before marriage.

With her being that traditional of a Christian, Phaedra didn't feel the need to hide her distaste for Lil Nas X's performance at the BET Awards. The openly gay rapper performed an Egyptian-inspired performance to his hit song "Montero." At the end of the sultry number, Lil Nas X planted a kiss on one of his male performers. The jaw-dropping moment has received a number of reactions, including expected backlash from the religious community. There was one Instagram user who posted a video ranting against Lil Nas X's performance. They said, "as gay men we got to do better." One Reddit user shared a screenshot showing that the video received a supportive comment from reality star turned mortician Phaedra, who felt like the Instagram user was speaking "FACTS."

Phaedra was blasted. She was accused of being homophobic. "Tell me again why she's a queen who needs to come back?," one Redditor asked. "Thank you. Phaedra may be funny but as of now, her behind can stay gone," added someone else. There has been talk of Phaedra returning to the show after a dismal season 13. With NeNe Leakes gone, viewers have been suggesting that one of the OG housewives should return, such as Sheree Whitfield, Kim Zolciak-Biermann, or Phaedra. One fan doesn't think the energy Phaedra might bring will be needed on the show. "Shade get's a lot less fun when you realize it comes from a truly malicious person though," they said.

Someone else claimed that the lawyer Phaedra never came off as funny or lighthearted. "I never found her funny 🤷‍♀️ just mean," they said. "I could tolerate Nene better, which is saying something lol." While NeNe has received criticism over being too shady to the cast, she has also made fans and costars laugh. "THANK YOU and all these people on this sub are dying for her to come back after she has shown time and time again that she’s an awful human being even by housewife standards," another person added.

It looks like Phaedra's comments about Lil Nas X reminded viewers how much they dislike Phaedra. Most aren't ready for her return. Hopefully, Andy Cohen didn't catch this latest shade. When it comes to Phaedra's potential The Real Housewives of Atlanta return, it just might be the nail in the coffin.

#HipHopNews: Cardi B Is ‘Thankful’ She Didn’t Get A Face Tattoo!

Cardi B’s body is covered in tattoos, but there’s one tattoo she didn’t get.

The “Up” rapper took to Twitter to reveal that she considered a face tattoo when she was a teenager, but she’s glad she decided not to go through with it.

“Everyday I’m thankful at the fact that ain’t get this face tatt I wanted when I was 16,” she told her 18 million followers.

She even had a design in mind that featured “little stars from the top of my eyebrow swirling down to my jaw.” Cardi was seemingly embarrassed by the admission, sharing a GIF of “America’s Got Talent” judge Mel B hiding her face.

While Cardi’s face is free of tattoos, she has other prominent tats including a colorful floral design that wraps from her back to her thigh. She also has a giant peacock tattoo that runs down her leg. Last year, she updated the 10-year-old ink, a painstaking process that took seven days to complete.

Last month, Cardi announced that she was pregnant with her second child and showed off her baby bump during her performance with Migos at the BET Awards. She also shared a series of stunning images from her maternity shoot featuring her husband Offset and their 3-year-old daughter Kulture.

Todrick Hall's Los Angeles Home Burglarized While He Was in London!

Todrick Hall was reportedly the victim of a home burglary where robbers made off with ‘$50K’ worth of his valuables.

via: People: The YouTuber, 36, told police on Saturday that at least $50,000 worth of handbags and other personal items were stolen, according to TMZ.

The loss could turn out to be even more damaging, as Hall still has to account for everything missing from his possession while the LAPD continues to investigate.

His friend reportedly discovered the break-in this weekend after thieves allegedly broke a window to gain entry into his home. According to recent posts to his Instagram Story, Hall has been in London as of late, where he watched the West End production of Hairspray for the “2nd time this week.”

Hall confirmed the robbery himself on Twitter on Sunday. “I am ok. This happened right after my cat sitter left for the night,” he explained. “I’m extremely saddened that most likely this was done by someone I know and trust, but my cats are safe…and that’s what matters most to me.”

The entertainer has otherwise been busy promoting his fourth studio album Femuline, which dropped last month, featuring collaborations with Chaka Khan, Brandy, Nicole Scherzinger, Tyra Banks, and TS Madison. He also announced an international tour, kicking off March 12, 2022.

Universal Takes Top Three Spots At Domestic Box Office, ‘F9’ Driving Past $500M Globally!

F9: The Fast Saga kept the pedal to the metal over the Fourth of July weekend and kept its pole position at the North American box office, outracing a trio of newcomers that included a sequel to The Boss Baby, the latest installment in the Purge franchise, and a buzzy indie based on an epic Twitter thread. Thanks to its continued box-office success overseas, F9 became the first Hollywood film to roar past the global $500 million mark since the pre-pandemic blockbuster Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

A week after it came roaring off the starting line with a whiplash-inducing $70 million debut, the tenth chapter in Universal’s muscle-car cycle, which stars Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez, racked up another $24 million over the three-day holiday frame (it’s estimated to pull in $32.7 million by the end of Monday). Originally slated to hit multiplexes over the 2020 Memorial Day weekend, F9 was one of the most high-profile tentpoles to be put on hold when the COVID-19 pandemic brought the theatrical movie business to a screeching halt more than a year ago. Now it seems as if it may be that same industry’s savior.

Even so, the PG-13-rated speed-demon sequel dropped of a hefty -65.7% from the previous frame, which may sound like a fairly steep nosedive but is actually in line with the second-week performances of the franchise’s previous installments. F9 unspooled in 4,203 locations and scored a $5,710 per-screen average in its sophomore session. Its total domestic box office after two weeks currently stands at $125.9 million. Overseas, where the film bowed earlier than it did in the U.S., F9 has raked in $374.4 million, bringing its worldwide gross to $500.3 million.

F9 wasn’t the only cause for a victory lap over at Universal headquarters this weekend. Thanks to two other rookies, the studio had a hammerlock on the top three spots in North America over the red-white-and-blue frame. In second place was The Boss Baby: Family Business—a follow-up to Uni’s 2017 kiddie smash, The Boss Baby, again featuring the voice of Alec Baldwin. The PG-rated sequel debuted with $17.3 over its first three days (and is estimated to get its sticky little fingers on $23 million by the end of Monday). And while that doesn’t quite measure up to the original’s $50.2 million bow back in 2017 (the first film ended up making $528 million worldwide), it’s likely a much more solid roll-out than it seems since the movie also premiered simultaneously on NBCUniversal’s new streaming platform, Peacock, and should convince some new subscribers to sign up. In its rookie frame, Boss Baby 2 scored a $4,747 per-screen average in 3,644 theaters. To date, it has added a meager $1.5 million from overseas, bringing its global cume to $24.5 million. Audiences gave the film an ‘A’ CinemaScore. Critics, needless to say, did not.

The third of Universal’s top-three finishers, and the holder of third place this weekend, was the latest entry in Blumhouse’s lucrative Purge franchise, The Forever Purge. The R-rated dystopian horror sequel scared up a hair under $12.8 million over its first three days (and is estimated to grab $15.9 million by the end of Monday). It marked the lowest debut in the five-film saga—the previous chapter, The First Purge, earned $17.4 million in its first three days back in 2018. Still, with a budget pegged at just around $18 million, The Forever Purge doesn’t need to score especially massive numbers to make its way into the black. The new film earned a $4,178 per-screen average in 3,051 theaters. It tacked on a little under $3.6 million overseas, bringing its global total to $19.4 million.

In fourth place was the box-office stalwart A Quiet Place Part II, which is still managing to make some noise with $4.2 million over the first three days of its sixth weekend in multiplexes. Paramount’s PG-13-rated suspense sequel fell off -31.8% from the previous frame, scoring a $1,495 per-screen average in 2,826 theaters. Its domestic total now stands at $144.4 million. Overseas, the film has added $112.1 million to date, putting its current worldwide total at $257.9 million after the long holiday weekend’s numbers are factored in.

Rounding out the top five was The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, which scored $3 million over the first three days of its third weekend. The Lionsgate action-thriller dipped -38.2% from the prior session, earning an $892 per-screen average in 3,361 theaters. The R-rated sequel to 2017’s The Hitman’s Bodyguard now has a combined three-week domestic box-office total of just a little under $31.4 million. So far, the film has pulled in another $15.6 million from overseas, bringing its cumulative worldwide gross to $47.9 million after the long holiday weekend’s numbers are tallied.

A Behind-The-Scenes Storm Is Reportedly Brewing At ESPN Over A Leaked Recording Of Rachel Nichols!

Just days before the 2021 NBA Finals tips off, ESPN has seen an explosive controversy made public stemming from events that occurred at last year’s championship involving two of the network’s stars, Rachel Nichols and Maria Taylor.

Sunday’s New York Times featured an expansive story from Kevin Draper about comments made privately by Nichols about Taylor being picked to host the network’s NBA Finals coverage last season. A recording of a conversation Nichols had reveals that The Jump host thought Taylor was picked to anchor Finals coverage instead of her because the network was “feeling pressure” about its “crappy longtime record on diversity” and not on merit.

“I wish Maria Taylor all the success in the world — she covers football, she covers basketball,” Nichols said in July 2020. “If you need to give her more things to do because you are feeling pressure about your crappy longtime record on diversity — which, by the way, I know personally from the female side of it — like, go for it. Just find it somewhere else. You are not going to find it from me or taking my thing away.”

The conversation was apparently recorded while Nichols was in quarantine in Florida ahead of entering the NBA’s Orlando bubble at Disney World. As Draper explained, a camera she used to continue appearing on ESPN during the quarantine period was apparently left on, with the recording getting uploaded to ESPN’s servers and discovered by someone working there. Part of that audio conversation between Nichols and a high-powered advisor, Adam Mendelsohn, was shared by the Times on Sunday after making its way around the network internally.

What resulted has been a nearly year-long simmering controversy, one that’s impacted the network’s NBA coverage as well as a contract dispute between it and Taylor. Her current deal reportedly ends in the middle of this year’s NBA Finals, which begin on Tuesday. The Times piece details how the audio leaked and the fallout it created, with ESPN president Jimmy Pitaro trying to diffuse the situation.

At one point, members of the NBA Countdown program debated whether they would appear on the program at all during this postseason. And the incident reportedly confirmed to several people of color in the organization that some were saying different things about diversity privately than they were in public.

The piece also gave context to an internal tug of war between Nichols and Taylor that followed, as the two were kept away from each other on air. Part of that included new rules put in place to keep sideline reporters off of The Jump, another NBA-centric show that Nichols hosted. That led to another lengthy internal debate with some notable names at ESPN at odds with one another.

On the preshow call involving the stars of the show and production staff in both Los Angeles and New York, Taylor insisted to an executive that she be able to conduct live interviews with sideline reporters. She also brought up the recorded phone conversation. Wojnarowski jumped in and called Nichols a bad teammate. Rose said that ESPN had asked a lot from Black employees over the past year, but that he and other Black employees would extend their credibility to the company no longer.

Taylor, whom executives had asked numerous times to change her interactions with Nichols, said that the only people punished by ESPN’s actions were women of color: Johnson, herself and the three sideline reporters — Lisa Salters, Cassidy Hubbarth and Andrews — who received lesser assignments so that Nichols could have the lead sideline reporter role and now were not being allowed to appear on the show live.

There’s a lot of details in the lengthy piece, which is a must read for sports fans even remotely curious about what’s happening at the biggest sports network on the planet. No one looks particularly positive in what’s clearly a complex reckoning with workplace relations, race, sex, and a very competitive work environment. There are a lot of individual moments that went viral in their own right on social media in the wake of the piece’s publication that, even with context, aren’t particularly postive for anyone.

In a recording of the video obtained by The New York Times, Nichols and Mendelsohn paused for a moment during the conversation after Nichols said she planned to wait for ESPN’s next move. Mendelsohn, who is white, then said: “I don’t know. I’m exhausted. Between Me Too and Black Lives Matter, I got nothing left.” Nichols then laughed.

Mendelsohn, throughout the conversation, strategized with Nichols about how she should respond to ESPN. “Be careful because that place is a snake pit,” he said. They considered a move that Mendelsohn described as “baller” but “hard to pull off”: telling Pitaro and others that having two women competing over the same job was a sign of ESPN’s wider shortcomings with female employees.

Nichols’ comments frame herself as “a victim of them trying to play catch-up for the same damage that affected me in the first place.” But the Times reported that Nichols did not receive any punishment from ESPN for the incident. In fact, apparently the only person to see discipline stemming from this controversy was a Black staffer who admitted to ESPN HR they sent the video to Taylor.

Now that this long-running controversy has been made public in a big way, it remains to be seen how ESPN’s coverage is impacted. But it will certainly bring new context to the drama taking place before the games even start on ABC later this week.

Collapsed Florida Condo Demolished Ahead Of Storm, Search To Resume Afterwards!

SURFSIDE, Fla. (Reuters) -The partially collapsed Miami-area condo where 24 people are confirmed dead was demolished on Sunday night, ahead of the possible arrival of Tropical Storm Elsa.

Search-and-rescue efforts for 121 people missing have been suspended. Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava told reporters earlier on Sunday that rescue efforts would resume after the demolition, noting it was 11 days since the collapse.

Video footage showed the 12-story building collapsing downward and throwing up plumes of smoke.

As of Sunday afternoon, Tropical Storm Elsa was off the coast of Cuba with winds of 60 miles per hour (95 kph). After moving across Cuba later on Sunday and Monday, the storm was forecast to approach western Florida on Tuesday or Wednesday.

In the wreckage of the Champlain Towers South complex in Surfside, workers drilled into columns where small explosive charges were placed to bring the remains of the building down in a small area, officials said.

Residents in nearby buildings did not need to evacuate but were instructed to stay indoors and turn off air conditioning due to dust.

Instead of the usual fireworks and flag-waving parties, beachside communities in the area planned more subdued events for the Fourth of July. Miami Beach canceled its Independence Day celebrations.

Investigators have not determined what caused the 40-year-old complex to collapse on June 24. A 2018 engineering report found structural deficiencies that are now the focus of inquiries that include a grand jury examination.

All residents of another building, Crestview Towers in North Miami Beach, were told on Friday to leave immediately after engineers found serious concrete and electrical problems, officials said.

The move was considered urgent because of the approach of Elsa, North Miami Beach City Manager Arthur Sorey said, adding that the building's owners had not yet begun a mandatory safety recertification process required 40 years after it was built.

"It's definitely not an easy decision," Sorey said. "It's just the right thing to do during these times. It's uncertain what's going to happen with the storm."

Kodak Black Gifts Air Conditioners To Housing Project Residents!

Kodak Black knows how to keep it cool. The rapper generously gave away 100 Air Conditioners to residents at the Golden Acres Projects in Pompano Beach, Florida.

According to TMZ, Kodak bought the air conditioners valued at nearly $13,000 and gave them away door to door to help residents keep cool in the hot and humid Florida temperatures.

Kodak worked with Francky Pierre, who runs the charity Philanthropic Work and Outreach, to make the giveaway happen.

The rapper’s thoughtful generosity moved some residents to tears, especially because it’s not the kind of gift they would expect from someone who wants to do a good deed for those less fortunate, but Floridians know an air conditioning unit in July is definitely a blessing.

Bill Cosby Blasts Howard University Amidst Phylicia Rashad Backlash “You Must Support Freedom Of Speech”!

Bill Cosby’s TV wife Phylicia Rashad has been getting backlash for celebrating his sexual assault conviction being overturned, and now, Bill Cosby  is speaking out and expressing his support for Rashad,  who recently became Dean of the College of Fine Arts, to support her “freedom of speech.”

“Howard University you must support ones Freedom of Speech (Ms. Rashad), which is taught or suppose to be taught everyday at that renowned law school, which resides on your campus,” Cosby said in a statement which was released by spokesperson Andrew Wyatt, per The Hollywood Reporter.

As we reported, Rashad was quickly criticized for posting a celebratory tweet shortly after news broke Wednesday that the Pennsylvania Supreme Court had overturned Cosby’s sexual assault conviction, with the court finding that the district attorney who charged Cosby was obligated to stand by his predecessor’s agreement not to charge the comedian.

“Finally,” Rashad tweeted, in a post that appears to have since been taken down. “A terrible wrong is being righted — a miscarriage of justice is corrected.”

Later Wednesday night, Rashad issued an additional comment, writing, “I fully support survivors of sexual assault coming forward. My post was in no way intended to be insensitive to their truth. Personally, I know from friends and family that such abuse has lifelong residual effects. My heartfelt wish is for healing.”

And Howard released a statement on Twitter reading, “Survivors of sexual assault will always be our priority.”

“While Dean Rashad has acknowledged in her follow-up tweet that victims must be heard and believed, her initial tweet lacked sensitivity towards survivors of sexual assault,” the Howard statement continued. “Personal positions of University leadership do not reflect Howard University’s policies. We will continue to advocate for survivors fully and support their right to be heard. Howard will stand with survivors and challenge systems that would deny them justice. We have full confidence that our faculty and school will live up to this sacred commitment.”

On Friday, additional reports emerged that Rashad had apologized for her celebratory tweet in a letter to Howard University students and their parents.

Nevertheless, Rashad’s initial tweet has led to calls for her to be fired from her post. Cosby’s statement also lashed out at the “mainstream media,” calling news outlets “the Insurrectionists, who stormed the Capitol,” seemingly referencing the Jan. 6 attack on Congress.

“This mainstream media are the Insurrectionists, who stormed the Capitol. Those same Media Insurrectionists are trying to demolish the Constitution of these United State of America on this Independence Day,” Cosby said, further claiming that his conviction wasn’t overturned on a “technicality” as many have claimed.

Cosby said in his statement: “NO TECHNICALITY — IT’S A VIOLATION OF ONES RIGHTS & WE THE PEOPLE STAND IN SUPPORT OF MS. PHYLICIA RASHAD.”

In a May interview on “CBS This Morning,” Michelle Obama spoke to Gayle King about both of her daughters growing up before her eyes. “I almost forgot that this year, this summer, they’re going to be 23 and 20,” Obama said. “I mean, I’m just like, ‘Stop there.’ I don’t even have teenagers anymore. So, I am excited for her next chapter. That’s why I want to be as excited as every parent.”

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck Snuggle Up for a PDA-Filled Walk After Arriving in the Hamptons!

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are taking their romance bicoastal once again.

After enjoying some family time with their kids at Hollywood's Universal Studios on Friday, the couple jetted off to the Hamptons where they were spotted enjoying a walk together on Saturday.

Affleck and Lopez stepped out in casually coordinated beige ensembles as they walked with their arms around each other, accompanied by her producing partner Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and husband Dan Thomas. The pair appeared to be inseparable, sharing a kiss during their stroll.

Following their respective splits from Ana de Armas and Alex Rodriguez earlier this year, Affleck, 48, and Lopez, 51, have been practically joined at the hip. "Ben always looks very happy when he is with Jen," a source recently told PEOPLE, as another source said of Lopez, "she spends as much time with Ben as possible."

The couple has been getting to know each other's kids as Lopez plots a move from Miami to Los Angeles, where Affleck is based. An insider previously told PEOPLE that her 13-year-old twins, son Maximilian David and Emme Maribel, whom she shares with ex Marc Anthony, 52, are "onboard with starting fresh in Los Angeles."

"They are slowly getting to know Ben," the source added. "Everything seems to be running smoothly. It's very obvious that Jennifer is serious about Ben. She hasn't looked this happy for a long time." Affleck also shares daughters Violet Anne, 15, Seraphina Rose, 12, and son Samuel Garner, 9, with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, 49.

The pair rekindled their romance in late April after Lopez and Rodriguez, 45, ended their engagement in March, and Affleck and De Armas, 33, broke up in January.

The couple originally began dating in July 2002 after meeting on the set of their movie Gigli. They got engaged that November before postponing their September 2003 wedding days before the date and ultimately calling off their engagement in January 2004.

Could Nipsey Hussle’s Accused Killer Eric Holder Get Off Due To Mental Illness?

People suffering with mental illness can’t fully be blamed for some of the crimes they commit, which is why you have laws set in place to properly convict them that also show respect to their psychiatric defects.

Many have been hoping for a conviction in the death of rapper Nipsey Hussle since his murder back in March 2019, but now it’s looking like the mental health of his accused killer, Eric Holder, is being brought into play and possibly change the overall direction of his conviction.

Hollywood Unlocked reported on the news a few days ago, stating Holder’s new lawyer is saying his client has a long history of mental illness. Deputy Public Defender Aaron Jansen is set to replace Holder’s previous lawyer, prosecutor Christopher Darden, who had a prominent role in the infamously-unsuccessful prosecution of O.J. Simpson.

See below to read what he said exactly, via HU:

“A lot of the work was done by my predecessor,” Jansen told the Daily News after the hearing. “Hopefully, by the end of the year, maybe early December, we can go to trial.”

“He does have a significant mental health history,” Jansen added. “One of the things affecting him [in March 2019] was that his mother had just passed away. He was pretty despondent.”

At the end of the day, we along with the rest of the world just want to see Nipsey Hussle’s death be rectified, at the very least by making sure his killer is brought to justice. Whether or not that person is Eric Holder has yet to be legally determined, but we’ll let the facts in the case, and on the street, speak for itself.
