Tinashe for Schön! Magazine #40!
R&B star Tinashe is taking control of her destiny. As the music industry adapts to the pandemic, she’s using the downtime to create her best work yet.
Tinashe isn’t your conventional star. As an independent artist, she writes her own rules and unapologetically struts to the beat of her own drum. The triple threat has sung and danced her way to digital notoriety with chart hits like 2 On and collaborations with Britney Spears and A$AP Rocky. Her ascent is a more modern representation of what it means to be a star today. She’s the Internet’s R&B darling, a position that holds a lot of power in 2021. When traditional revenue streams like touring and shows are on the decline, artists with loyal online fanbases have a unique advantage.
What makes an artist successful is evolving: radio airtime has become an archaic measure of impact because everyone is consuming music on TikTok and streaming platforms instead. “I’ve had to re-evaluate what I think success is like this year,” Tinashe admits. “My music isn’t on the top of the charts, and for me, finding a way to still be valid as an artist is really important. My art is really, truly important, and I can’t undervalue that based on accolades or chart position or sales. It’s forced me to make better art, create better visuals and be even more at peace with myself.

#RHOA: Porsha Williams Never Really Friends With Falynn She Faked it for Show Before Dating Her Ex!!!
Porsha Williams had no problems getting with the estranged husband of one of her costars, because the 'Real Housewives' were never actually pals ... despite how it seemed on TV.
We've spoken to multiple sources who've confirmed Porsha and Falynn Guobadia have never been friends, they literally met the day they filmed together on 'RHOA' -- producers simply told them to act as if they'd known each other.
As you know ... Porsha recently got engaged to Falynn's estranged husband, Simon, and 'Real Housewives' fans were losing their minds thinking Porsha stole her friend Falynn's man.
Porsha says her ex-fiancé, Dennis McKinley, is supportive of her new relationship with Simon ... and we're told Dennis and Simon were never friends either.
Falynn revealed her split from Simon last month, after 2 years of marriage, but we're told they separated in January.
Here's where it gets even more interesting -- Porsha's claiming Simon and Falynn's divorce is already finalized. In fact, we're told Porsha made it very clear to Simon his divorce had to be final before they began their relationship
However, Falynn tells us she's "focusing on finalizing my divorce and healing" -- so she has a much different timeline than her ex and Porsha do.
Our sources confirm Porsha and Simon have only been together for a month, not any longer ... and we're told Porsha had nothing to do with his split from Falynn
That's their version of it, anyway -- but Falynn doesn't seem to be buying it

#HipHopNews: Romeo Calls Out Bow Wow Over Proposed Verzuz Battle: 'We Aren't Kids Anymore'!
Fans have been clamoring for a Verzuz battle between former rap rivals Romeo Miller and Bow Wow since the platform began in March 2020. The topic was brought up during a recent episode of the Fox Soul’s The Mix where Romeo said, “If Bow Wow do a godddamn battle and it’s not with me, don’t do it. If Bow do a battle, I’m open for it.”
Bow Wow quickly responded via Twitter with, “You sure you want this smoke? I see you calling me out. You sure this what you want to do?” to which Romeo wrote on his Instagram Stories, “Regarding this Verzuz talk, I’ve gave this man Bow @shadmoss his roses since we was kids and even reached out myself (multiple times) to celebrate him and our era together in a creative way. I could put my pride to the side if it means doing something positive and bringing back nostalgia for a dope ass generation.”
He continued, “Now if you think this is smoke my brother, we could hit up @loganpaul and get on one of those boxing tickets. You know me in real life bro, we aren’t kids anymore; leave that for the fans. This ain’t about the competition for me, this is about showing the impact that 2 young black kids had on the entire industry. That’s the Win. To inspire the next! It’s NoLimit. You got my number, hit me.”
Bow Wow has pushed back against doing a Verzuz for months. Last July, fans were desperate for a battle between Soulja Boy and the Growing Up Hip Hop star, but Bow Wow refused, saying it’s “not gonna happen.” According to Bow Wow, a battle with Soulja Boy makes no sense.
“How soulja makes fun turnt music,” he tweeted at the time. “I make r&b hip hop music for the ladies. How is that a good match up? You gone crank that one minute then the next cry over an ex. That’s an emotional roller coaster.”
Bow Wow was then asked who he actually would want to battle.
“I don’t want to,” he wrote before expounding in a follow-up post. “Rather be getting money than playing songs yall heard a million times for an hour.”
He later added, “I come from an era where.. if you a legend .. you a legend. No need to remind folks. Im only 33 i got more work to do. A verzuz for me right now makes no sense. i was just part of a good era and music. I wasnt THAT important. Lot of big acts were dominating the 2000’s.”
But all it took was Verzuz co-founder Timbaland to lightweight diss Bow Wow for him to change his tune. As soon as Timbo heard about Bow Wow’s disinterest in participating in the popular Instagram series, he tweeted, “He mite not have 20 n the bag.”
Bow Wow snapped back, @timbaland you been drinking too much ciroc. 20? Timbo you betta stop playing w/ me. I can give you 10 before i hit my 3rd album. The Bow Wow era was nothing to play w/ Ima let the people tell you about me tho. Yo! @Timbaland said i might not have 20 songs to do a verzuz… i LAUGHED.”
Bow Wow has sold over 10 million albums and three of his six projects are certified platinum. Meanwhile, Romeo has released four studio albums, including his Lil ‘Romeo debut which charted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200.\
Kim Kardashian Buys Janet Jackson's Custom Outfit from 'If' Music Video for $25K!
Kim Kardashian is celebrating Janet Jackson's birthday in style! In honor of the "Any Time, Any Place" singer's 55th birthday on Sunday, the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star, 40, revealed that she recently purchased a very special outfit Jackson wore in her 1993 "If" music video.
"Happy birthday queen!" Kardashian wrote on her Instagram Story, alongside a clip of Jackson wearing the ensemble. "For @janetjackson's bday bc I'm such a fan I can't believe I won this on juliens_auctions."
Jackson responded to Kardashian in her own Instagram Story. "Thank u so much @kimkardashian! I hope 'IF' gives u as much pleasure as it did me," she wrote along with three kissing face emojis.
Just two days earlier, the auction house announced that the outfit — a custom-made cropped suede top with artificial bone detailing and a pair of black lace-up front pants — had sold for $25,000.
The three-day auction, "Iconic Treasures From the Legendary Career and Life of Janet Jackson," was held to commemorate Jackson's birthday.
"Can't believe this will be the last time I'll see some of these items, but it's for a good cause," Jackson recently said in a video announcing the sale. A portion of the proceeds will go towards Compassion International, a non-profit organization that provides humanitarian aid to children in need.
This isn't the first item of Jackson family memorabilia that Kardashian has purchased over the years.
In 2017, the SKIMS founder shared that she and Kanye West, whom she filed for divorce from in February, purchased daughter North a one-of-a-kind jacket once worn by Michael Jackson, as well as the white fedora he wore in his 1988 music video for "Smooth Criminal."
Just last week, the mother of four received several other priceless additions to her collection: handmade Mother's Day gifts from her children.
"My kids are so thoughtful, they made me my own perfume, each of them because they know I love perfume," she said in one video, showcasing each of the unique scents, and sentimental designs, her kids picked out.\
MTV Movie & TV Awards 2021: See the full list of winners!
The MTV Movie & TV Awards are underway, with night one hosted by Saturday Night Live alum and major entertainment fan Leslie Jones. The first ceremony was presented live from the historic Palladium in Los Angeles.
WandaVision was the night's big winner, snatching up multiple Golden Popcorns and snagging the coveted Best Show award, beating out Bridgerton, Cobra Kai, Emily in Paris, and The Boys. Stars Elizabeth Olsen and Kathryn Hahn also scored wins, the former for Best Performance in a Show (for her portrayal of Wanda) and the latter for Best Villain (for her portrayal of Agatha). The pair also shared the award for Best Fight.
Black Widow's Scarlett Johansson was honored with the Generation Award. Tom Cruise was the initial recipient in 2005 and it was given to actors (including Will Smith, Sandra Bullock, and Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson) every year except 2017, when the entire Fast & Furious franchise sped away with it.
Johansson accepted her award via video, but her speech was quickly interrupted by her husband, Colin Jost, who popped into the frame and proceeded to dump green slime on her.
Borat Subsequent Moviefilm star Sacha Baron Cohen was honored with the Comedic Genius Award. It was the fourth time the award has been given out by the network but the first in five years. Last time, it went to Bridesmaids alum Melissa McCarthy in 2016 (Kevin Hart took it home in 2015, and SNL vet Will Ferrell earned the inaugural trophy in 2013).
After Seth Rogen introduced him, Baron Cohen accepted his award by fending off his onscreen alter egos Borat, Ali G, and Brüno, the last of whom showed up in a very revealing pink ensemble.
We were also treated to a steamy scene in which Jones, decked out in period garb and a fabulous wig, prepared for a roll in the hay with Bridgerton star and Breakthrough Performance winner Regé-Jean Page. "I am yours, Leslie," Page told her, stripping down to show off his chiseled chest and a whole lot more. Unhappy with the fast pacing of the proceedings, Jones called out for "one of them long-ass Zack Snyder cuts." Her wish — and many viewers' — was granted.
See the full list of Sunday night's winners below. And check back tomorrow for all of the winners from the MTV Movie and TV Awards: Unscripted, hosted by Nikki Glaser.

NYC Pride Parade Organizers Ban NYPD Participation Through 2025, NYPD Responds “It’s Hurtful and Disappointing”!
The New York City Pride parade organizers are banning participation from the New York Police Department from their June parade and any related events. The ban will remain in effect until 2025 when Heritage of Pride reviews whether or not it should remain in effect.
The ban applies to all correction and law enforcement exhibitors. CNN reports that the organizers cite the need to create a safe space for LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC groups. LGBT stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, and asexual groups, and BIPOC stands for Black, Indigenous, and people of color.
“The sense of safety that law enforcement is meant to provide can instead be threatening, and at times dangerous, to those in our community who are most often targeted with excessive force and/or without reason,” Heritage of Pride said in a statement. “NYC Pride is unwilling to contribute in any way to creating an atmosphere of fear or harm for members of the community.”
This year, event organizers will use private security, volunteers, and community leaders for security measures. NYPD‘s first response will be used only as necessary. According to the NYPD, they will still be there in person for traffic safety and to keep order.
“Our annual work to ensure a safe, enjoyable Pride season has been increasingly embraced by its participants. The idea of officers being excluded is disheartening and runs counter to our shared values of inclusion and tolerance,” Detective Denise Moroney, a spokesperson for the NYPD, said in a statement. “That said, we’ll still be there to ensure traffic safety and good order during this huge, complex event.”
This year’s parade theme is “The Fight Continues.” Last year’s in-person parade was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic and was instead held virtually. Last year marked the 50th anniversary of the event.
NYPD Deputy Commissioner John Miller responded to the ban on Twitter stating, “@NYCPride’s decision to exclude members of the NYPD from Pride events is hurtful and disappointing. As this scene reminds us, inclusion and dialogue are the oxygen of reform — everything @GOALny stands for as they relentlessly challenge and make us a better department.”
Joe Budden Apologizes To Rory After Firing Him From His Podcast!
Joe Budden issues an apology to his former co-host, after firing him on air.
Joe let Rorygo last week for his “dark energy, arrogance, and entitlement.” In the leaked audio, you can hear Joe say, “since Rory feels like he has so many options here, somehow he still feels like he’s running the show. He feels like he’s entitled to more. Rory, you are in breach of your contract. And from this point forward, you are fired, and you are not welcome back.”
Rory responded via Twitter, he says, “man .. what an era. Thank you to everyone that listened, supported, told their friends about us, bought a subscription, ticket, or merch .. any value starts & ends with y’all.. I’ll get to that messy sh*t soon, but in the meantime, I’m here to celebrate an amazing run!! Love.”
After receiving mixed reactions online, Joe issued Rory and Mal an apology on the latest episode of the podcast. He says, “seeing all of this feedback and all this — I do need to apologize to Rory, as well. Maybe Rory and Mal, too, but definitely Rory,” Joe said before reflecting that “things sound a lot spicier in the go-out.”
He went on to say that he initially wanted the audio of him firing him to be edited out of the episode, “ever since that last pod, I’ve just been having like pictures in my head of every moment that me and the guys have ever had together,” he continued with a maniacal laugh. “When I say I didn’t ask you to do sh*t for me — ’cause I don’t ask y’all to do sh*t for me but that’s a man thing to me. You just don’t ask men too much sh*t but when I said I didn’t ask you to do something, it don’t mean I’m not appreciative. It don’t mean I’m not grateful. It just means I never asked.”
He continued, “When do you say that and not sound like a dickhead?” He admitted that regardless of his intentions, it was wrong for him to address Rory with such a tone. He explained that it stems from a deep-rooted issue with authority.
“I don’t want that to affect people I love which is why I’m going to apologize to Rory because me and Rory have so many fly n***a moments together. Like, fly, friend type of vibey — like, it’s unfortunate that they might not feel that we’re so friendly today and it’s unfortunate that I can’t tell you how we got here, maybe aside from — if I’m taking accountability — poor leadership skills,” he said.
Hopefully the three can come to an amicable place.
Kelly Clarkson Is Reportedly the Frontrunner to Replacing Ellen DeGeneres!
Kelly Clarkson has been hosting her talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, since September 2019, and her skills in the interviewer's chair have reportedly made her the frontrunner to replace Ellen DeGeneres' soon-to-be-vacated time slot on NBC. According to TMZ, Clarkson's show is being considered for a move to The Ellen DeGeneres Show's syndicated hour, an idea that was reportedly floated long before the pandemic began.
Sources say that executives at NBC knew DeGeneres would likely walk away from her show at some point, prompting them to look at Clarkson as a potential successor. While The Kelly Clarkson Show struggled during the pandemic and saw lower ratings, the same was true for many shows, and "a lot depends on the next few months" as production on the talk show returns to its full capacity.
Should the network decide to look outside of its current roster for a replacement, sources point to comedian Tiffany Haddish, who has previously guest-hosted for DeGeneres, as a potential choice. While NBC may be interested in Haddish, it's unclear whether she would entertain the idea of a weeklong talk show, which, as TMZ points out, "is a real grind." The outlet notes that should Haddish be interested, "it would take the contents of a bank vault to seal the deal."
DeGeneres announced last week that the upcoming Season 19 of her eponymous talk show, which wraps in 2022, will be her last. "When you’re a creative person, you constantly need to be challenged — and as great as this show is, and as fun as it is, it’s just not a challenge anymore," she told The Hollywood Reporter. The decision follows months of drama surrounding The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which was the subject of misconduct allegations last summer.
"If I was quitting the show because of that, I wouldn’t have come back this season," DeGeneres asserted of the allegations and subsequent investigation. "So, it’s not why I’m stopping, but it was hard because I was sitting at home, it was summer, and I see a story that people have to chew gum before they talk to me and I’m like, 'OK, this is hilarious.' Then I see another story of some other ridiculous thing and then it just didn’t stop. And I wasn’t working, so I had no platform, and I didn’t want to address it on [Twitter] and I thought. 'If I just don’t address it, it’s going to go away,' because it was all so stupid."
LaKeith Stanfield Announces Break From Social Media!
Academy Award nominee LaKeith Stanfield has announced he’ll be taking a break from social media after issuing apologies for moderating a Clubhouse room that contained anti-Semitic rhetoric.
Earlier this month, the 29-year-old Atlanta star appeared as a moderator during a bigoted discussion on Clubhouse, according to the Daily Beast, while sources confirmed he personally did not say anything that could be considered anti-Semitic. The following day, he joined another room moderated by Jewish educators and addressed the backlash before writing on Instagram that he “unconditionally apologizes” for being involved in the initial room.
Stanfield said the discussion “took a very negative turn when several users made abhorrent anti-Semitic statements, and at that point, I should have either shut down the discussion or removed myself from it entirely. I condemn hate speech and discriminatory views of any kind.”
On Saturday, the actor reiterated that he “vehemently” rejects “any kind of hate speech.”
Brian Tyree Henry Talks About ‘Atlanta’ Team Reuniting in London After Years Apart
“I definitely don’t align myself with Louis Farrakhan, I don’t stand by him,” Stanfield told the Daily Beast. “Any kind of hate speech, I vehemently reject. That’s not up for debate, hate is not up for debate.”
A day after that piece was published, Stanfield took to Instagram to share that he’ll be taking a break from social media, adding that he thinks “too much of it isn’t healthy.”
“Taking a break from this social media,” LaKeith wrote. “I’d advise you all do the same at least for a little while. Too much of it isn’t healthy I don’t think. Just know I’d never lie to secure my place in ‘Hollywood.’ If I say I don’t hate, it’s because I don’t. Hold your news sources accountable and think for yourselves. Talk soon.”
Just last month, Stanfield’s leading role in the anime Yasuke finally debuted on Netflix. The short series, featuring musical contributions from Flying Lotus, follows the story of Japan’s legendary first Black samurai.
Chrissy Teigen’s cookware pulled from Macy’s website after Courtney Stodden trolling!
Chrissy Teigen’s cookware line has been taken down from Macy’s website just days after she apologized for being a troll who encouraged Courtney Stodden to take a “dirt nap.”
The former supermodel’s Cravings by Chrissy Teigen line — already dropped by Target — was marked “unavailable” on Macy’s website by early Sunday, according to The Sun.
By Monday, while the Cravings line still registers in the search box, it appeared to be now completely offline, with a message telling shoppers, “We couldn’t find a match for your search.”
It comes just days after Teigen — who has two kids with husband John Legend — issued a groveling apology for her attacks on Stodden, who accused her of encouraging suicide.
“I was an insecure, attention seeking troll,” Teigen admitted Wednesday.
“I am ashamed and completely embarrassed at my behavior but that…is nothing compared to how I made Courtney feel,” she wrote.
“I am so sorry I let you guys down,” she told fans. “I will forever work on being better than I was 10 years ago, 1 year ago, 6 months ago.”
Chrissy Teigen’s cookware line has so far been dropped by Target and Macy’s. It appears to be available from third-party sellers on Walmart.com.
Stodden, who identifies as non-binary and uses “they/them” pronouns, first came to fame at age 16 in 2011 after marrying a then-51-year-old Doug Hutchison.
Stodden said a lot of the cyberbullying occurred during this time period.
Macy’s did not immediately respond to requests for comment Monday. Target, meanwhile, had reportedly decided to end its deal with Teigen before the bullying scandal.
The cookware line appears to be available from third-party sellers on Walmart.com, with at least one seller trying to hawk Teigen’s 14-piece nonstick cookware set for $1,065.
Teigen’s 14-piece cookware set doesn’t appear to be sold anywhere else, however, her 12-piece retails on her Amazon store for $185.
The Air Jordan 3 Retro WMNS “Rust Pink” Is Officially Unveiled!
Spring has barely started and Jordan Brand is already revealing what’s in the season around the corner. For Summer, the brand is looking to make some big moves for their women’s exclusives, offering up much more than just this Air Jordan 3 “Rust Pink.” Though it may have been revealed quite a bit ago, the colorway is sure to strike a chord in its familiar blocking and style.
The titular “Rust Pink” dresses the nubuck upper in near entirety, contrasted by white leather tongues, eye stays, and a pop right at the collar. Adjacent, the silhouette’s signature Cement print also makes an appearance, though its grey exterior is cracked with a pink similar to the aforementioned. “Bright Crimson,” then, rounds off the colorway via the Jumpman embroidery, eyelets, heel trim, and removable hangtag. A release is due to hit select retailers and Nike SNKRS on May 28th.
