Keke Palmer Rocking the Pages of InStyle Magazine!

With ferocious confidence, Keke Palmer always puts her realest self forward – whether people like it or not. Palmer covers InStyle’s May subscriber issue, opening up about her longtime struggle with acne, an underlying hormone disorder, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), her IDGAF attitude on Instagram, and motivating others to find their purpose.

On embracing her authentic self without outside validation: “I got tired of trying to be who everybody wanted me to be. There’s always going to be something that people hate me for, whether it’s wanting me to not be Black, or a woman, or tall, or short, or skinny, or thick. Other people might love me for it, but I don’t want to constantly change who I am for outside validation. That just sounds like hell.” “I’d rather be loved or hated for being myself than for being somebody I’m not. If people don’t like that I tell it like it is, then they should at least be able to respect me for being real.”

On navigating a love-hate relationship with makeup since her early teens: “I was constantly hiding myself and felt shame about having acne,” she remembers. “Wearing makeup became a chore because I always had to be ‘on’ wherever I went in case a fan asked me to take a picture; I didn’t have the proper boundaries to say no. So instead of getting to the bottom of my acne and trying to understand it, I was covering it up, trying to be perfect. But you’re never going to get to the nitty-gritty of something when you do a lot of covering up.”

On going public with her PCOS diagnosis to help others: “I feel most beautiful when I’m being kind and of service to others,” she says. “As females, we need to advocate for ourselves, because everything [in society] is kind of a rule-of-thumb by males. But it shouldn’t be weird for us to talk about our health issues or demand what we need when we go to the doctor. We make it weird, but it’s not really weird—and the more that we talk about it, the less of an issue it will become.”

On her full-circle career moment coming back to the place where it all began: “I started with Disney when I was 10 years old, and I’ve worked my way up,” she says. “I’m ready to usher in a new generation of creative talent coming up behind me, especially from lower-income communities. I don’t run from my past, and I’m not ashamed that I came from poverty. I want other people to know they’re beautiful not in spite of, but because of, where they come from. It’s not about changing who you are to step through the doors; it’s about being who you are when you get there.”

On keeping it real on social media, but maintaining her privacy: “All an entertainer really wants is to cater to their audience, but you subject yourself to so much craziness when you solely engage on social media,” she says. “A lot of people want to get in your force field, and you have to find ways to maintain privacy. I know young girls are looking at my page, and I keep it real with them—but that doesn’t mean I’m going to overexpose my personal life. And when I’m talking personal, it’s like, who you slept with last night. You ain’t got to share that! My love life is a very big line that I won’t cross.”

Minnesota Officer Who Shot Daunte Wright Meant to Fire Taser Says Chief of Police!

BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. — The police officer who killed a man in a Minneapolis suburb on Sunday did so accidentally, officials said Monday, releasing a graphic body-camera video that appeared to depict the officer shouting, “Taser!” before firing her gun.

“It is my belief that the officer had the intention to deploy their Taser, but instead shot Mr. Wright with a single bullet,” Chief Tim Gannon of the Brooklyn Center Police Department said of the shooting on Sunday of Daunte Wright, 20, during a traffic stop. “This appears to me, from what I viewed, and the officer’s reaction and distress immediately after, that this was an accidental discharge that resulted in a tragic death of Mr. Wright.”

The officer, who was not publicly identified, has been placed on administrative leave, officials said. Chief Gannon said that Mr. Wright had been initially pulled over because of an expired registration on the vehicle he was driving. The video showed a brief struggle between Mr. Wright and police officers before one of the officers fired her gun.

After the officer fired, she is heard on the video saying, “Holy shit. I just shot him.”

In the hours after the shooting on Sunday afternoon, protests, violence and looting broke out in Brooklyn Center, a suburb of 30,000 people north of Minneapolis. The shooting comes amid a national reckoning over police misconduct and the killings of Black people by the police; Mr. Wright was Black. City officials did not identify the race of the police officer.

“We will get to the bottom of this,” Mike Elliott, the mayor of Brooklyn Center, said at a news conference on Monday. “We will do all that is within our power to make sure that justice is done for Daunte Wright.”

Mr. Elliott called for the officer who shot Mr. Wright to be fired. “My position is that we cannot afford to make mistakes that lead to the loss of life of other people in our profession,” he said. “And so I do fully support releasing the officer of her duties.”

The Twin Cities region has been on edge for weeks, as the trial of Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer who has been charged with murdering George Floyd, is underway in a Minneapolis courtroom less than 10 miles from where Mr. Wright was shot.

A curfew was imposed until early Monday morning and the school district in Brooklyn Center announced that it would conduct classes virtually on Monday.

Mr. Elliott said that President Biden offered the support of his administration in a phone call on Monday; Mr. Biden is “saddened to hear about the loss of life at the hands of law enforcement in Minnesota,” said Jen Psaki, a White House spokeswoman, and is expected to publicly address the shooting later Monday.

Chief Gannon said an officer had shot Mr. Wright on Sunday afternoon after pulling his car over for a traffic violation and discovering that he had a warrant out for his arrest. As the police tried to detain Mr. Wright, he stepped back into his car, at which point an officer shot him, Chief Gannon said.

Mr. Wright’s car then traveled for several blocks and struck another vehicle, after which the police and medical workers pronounced him dead. Chief Gannon did not give any information on how severe the crash had been, though the passengers in the other car were not injured.

Katie Wright, who identified herself as Mr. Wright’s mother, told reporters that her son had been driving a car that his family had just given him two weeks ago and that he had called her as he was being pulled over.

“He said they pulled him over because he had air fresheners hanging from his rearview mirror,” she said. Ms. Wright added that her son had been driving with his girlfriend when he was shot. The police said a woman in the car had been hurt in the crash but that her injuries were not life-threatening.

John Harrington, the commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, said the unrest that followed Mr. Wright’s death had spread to a mall in Brooklyn Center and that people had broken into about 20 businesses there. By about midnight, most of the protesters had fled from around the police department, once National Guard troops and Minnesota State Patrol officers arrived to back up the police officers who stood around the building with riot gear and batons.

The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, a state agency that investigates police killings in Minnesota, is conducting an investigation.

Chief Gannon, a white veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, had been with the department for 21 years when he was elevated to the top post in 2015.

“I really want the city to understand and know their police department,” Chief Gannon told a community television station at the time.

Among his goals, beside lowering the crime rate, he said, was to outfit officers with body cameras and make the force more representative of the suburb’s diversifying population.

Brooklyn Center — the site of the Minneapolis field office for the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the birthplace of Hennepin County’s first sheriff — was more than 70 percent white as recently as the 2000 census. But its racial and ethnic makeup changed dramatically in the last generation, and the community has since 2010 had a majority-minority population, only about 44.5 percent of which is now white, according to federal statistics. Twenty-nine percent of the population is Black, 16 percent is Asian-American and 13.5 percent is Latino.

In 2015, Chief Gannon said, he hoped to make the police force a reflection of the community.

“If they have these positive interactions,” he said, “then they make contact with officers not always on the tail end of a 911 call.”

#HipHopNews: Kid Cudi Pays Tribute To Kurt Cobain In Floral Dress On ‘SNLl’!

Kid Cudi honored Kurt Cobain while making his “Saturday Night Live” debut.

For his first solo performance as musical guest (he appeared with Kanye West in 2018), the rapper delivered a pair of songs off his latest album Man on the Moon III: The Chosen, released in December, on last night’s episode with host Carey Mulligan.

While performing “Tequila Shots,” he donned a green cardigan reminiscent of the one Cobain wore during Nirvana’s “MTV Unplugged” concert in 1993. Underneath it was a shirt featuring a photo of another late legend, “SNL” cast member Chris Farley, who Cudi also acknowledged on social media.

For his second performance of “Sad People,” Cudi appeared onstage in a spaghetti-strapped floral Off-White dress, designed by Virgil Abloh, that resembled a similarly patterned dress Cobain famously wore. The timing of the performance was significant as it came just days after the 27th anniversary of Cobain’s death on April 5, 1994. Cudi ended the performance with a smile and a curtsy.

Cudi has shown his love for the Nirvana frontman in the past. He has a tattoo of Cobain on his arm and sampled his Montage of Heck demo “Burn the Rain” on Kids See Ghosts’ “Cudi Montage.”

Kid Cudi - Tequila Shots (Live on SNL)

In addition to his musical duties, Cudi appeared in “SNL’s” “Weird Little Flute” music video that paid tribute to the flute used on songs such as JAY-Z’s “Big Pimpin'” and Future’s “Mask Off.” The hilarious sketch also featured Pete Davidson and Chris Redd, plus a surprise cameo from Timothée Chalamet.

Keri Hilson Confirms Her Long Feud With Beyoncé Is Over After A‘Healing’ Conversation!

Keri Hilson has confirmed she squashed her longstanding beef with Beyonce, and said she’d be open to collaborating with the singer.

The years-long feud between Keri Hilson and Beyonce is over. In a new interview with radio host Persia Nicole, the R&B hitmaker revealed she and Bey had squashed any beef between them, which kicked off when Keri threw shade on her 2009 song, “Turnin’ Me On.” She referred to the “Crazy In Love” singer with the line “Your vision cloudy if you think that you da best, You can dance, she can sing, but need to move it to the left… She need to go have some babies, she need to sit down, she fake, them other chicks ain’t even worth talkin’ bout.”

Despite the shady remark, Bey was “gracious” when meeting Keri. “She actually has introduced herself. It was a gracious moment,” Keri revealed. “I appreciated it. I feel like she understood what happened, what had transpired and there was a bit of healing in that moment when we met. I take her as a very intuitive kind of soul, as am I.” As for whether they would ever collaborate: “Yeah, it would be a very fun experience to do that if she were open. I do feel like she understood what that was all about. She’s amazing. I’ve always felt that way. That’s the truth of the matter, but no one will believe that.”

Fans of the R&B singer would know she totally added fuel to the fire in 2011 when she refused to pose with an issue of Juicy magazine that featured Beyoncé and her husband Jay Z on the cover. “We can understand and nod and have a mutual respect [now],” Keri explained. “I think at the very minimum there can be that. That’s always possible and that’s where I’m at. I made a decision that was not authentic to who I truly am and of course I regret it. Of course.”

Fans of the two singers were divided in the wake of the new interview, however many acknowledged that Keri was likely “pressured” into dissing Bey when she was early in her career. “I don’t think people realize the affect the industry and labels have on people when you’re young. She was clearly pressured to diss Beyoncé back then and it backfired. She obviously matured,” one person commented. “Beyoncé and Keri need to get together and bring that [fire] long overdue,” another fan wrote. We’d certainly love to see the pair collab!

The US Masters! Hideki Matsuyama makes history as first Japanese man to win golf major!

With stellar ball-striking and a command of Augusta National unmatched by anyone in the field over the final two rounds, Hideki Matsuyama (-10) converted a 54-hole lead into his first green jacket and major championship, winning the 2021 Masters by one stroke on Sunday. Matsuyama's victory in this 85th Masters is not only his first green jacket but the first major championship won by a Japanese men's golfer and only the second ever captured by a men's golfer from an Asian nation (Y.E. Yang of South Korea, 2009 PGA Championship).

"I'm really happy," Matsuyama said bluntly at the onset of the green jacket ceremony inside Butler Cabin after the final round.

Masters rookie Will Zalatoris (-9) finished as the runner-up by in a breakout moment for the 24-year old. He was followed by a pair of major championship leaderboard regulars as Jordan Spieth and Xander Schauffele tied for third at 7 under. Both Spieth and Schauffele had highlights on Sunday that suggested they could make a run at a green jacket, but each also had mistakes that cost them a real shot to win.

Matsuyama started the day with a four-stroke lead, saw it cut to just one before growing to as many as six strokes until he found the water on No. 15 and made things interesting down the stretch. But at every turn of this wild Sunday, Matsuyama seemed to have answers, and that was especially on display during his birdies at No. 9 and No. 13.

Though he has consistently been in contention at majors over the last few years, Matsuyama previously struggled to get the job done over weekend as he carried the weight and hopes of a nation on his shoulders. From 2015-17, he achieved top-five finishes in four majors, including a fifth-place positioning at Augusta National in 2015. That's what sparked Matsuyama's emergence as one of the top golfers in the world. He spent much of 2017 in the top five of the Official World Golf Rankings, even reaching No. 2 twice after top-five finishes at the U.S. Open and PGA Championship that year.

It's been a bit of a grind for Matsuyama to make it back to this point as Sunday's victory is his first since the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational in August 2017. Long regarded as one of the elite ball-strikers in the game, Matsuyama was able to put it all together on the greens with impressive putting performances on the weekend to put the victory on ice.

"Hopefully, I'll be a pioneer in this and many other Japanese will follow," he said Sunday on CBS. "I'm proud to be able to open the floodgates, finally, and many others will follow me."

With Matsuyama, the Masters gets its sixth first-time winner in the last seven years, the only exception being Tiger Woods' epic win in 2019. Five of those six newly-minted champions had not won a major prior to slipping on the green jacket, the exception being Dustin Johnson winning his second major at Augusta National in November 2020.

Matsuyama also cements his place in history as the first Japan-born Masters winner and men's major champion with his victory occuring 10 years after he first appeared at Augusta National as a 19-year-old amateur. He finished T27 in that Masters, scoring a 4-under 68 on Sunday to collect the low-amateur trophy in a ceremony alongside Masters champion Charl Schwartzel.

A decade later, it is Matsuyama slipping on the green jacket after a Masters win for the ages just one week after fellow Japanese golfer Tsubasa Kajitani captured the second annual Augusta National Women's Amateur.

Stylist Claims Justin Timberlake Created Infamous Janet Jackson Wardrobe Malfunction!

Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson’s infamous wardrobe malfunction at the 2004 Superbowl is like the gift that keeps on giving. Now, a stylist who worked on Jackson’s outfit for the event claims the whole thing was planned.

In a Page Six exclusive, stylist Wayne Scot Lukas says the whole incident was designed to upstage the Britney Spears, Madonna, and Christina Aguilera kiss from the MTV Video Music Awards that took place months before. Timberlake “insisted on doing something bigger than their performance. He wanted a reveal.”

The original idea that was tossed around was for Timberlake to step on the back of Jackson’s dress to reveal a Sex and the City-inspired pearl G-string. But “the outfit changed a couple of days before, and you saw the magic,” according to Lukas.

“I wouldn’t call it a wardrobe ‘malfunction’ in a million years. It was the most functioning wardrobe in history. As a stylist, it did what it was intended to do,” he told the outlet.

The incident was recently in the headlines again after Timberlake publicly apologized to Jackson. His manager, Johnny Wright, insisted that she had forgiven Timberlake in private “a long time ago.”

As for Lukas, he says he’s planning to tell his story in a tell-all book in the future, with more juicy secrets to be revealed about working in the industry.

Prince Harry Arrives in the U.K. Two Days After Grandfather Prince Philip's Death!

Harry, 36, arrived on Sunday from California, where he has been residing with his wife Meghan Markle and their son Archie, who turns 2 on May 6.

It isthe first time Harry has been in his home country in over a year. It is also the first time he will see members of the Royal Family since his and Meghan's interview with Oprah Winfrey aired last month.

Meghan, who is expecting their second child, a baby girl, did not accompany her husband.

News of Harry's arrival comes two days after his grandfather Prince Philip died on Friday at the age of 99. The late royal is currently lying at rest at Windsor Castle.

On Saturday, Buckingham Palace confirmed that the Duke of Sussex "will be attending" Philip's funeral on April 17 at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle.

Meanwhile, the Duchess of Sussex "has been advised by her physician not to travel," a royal spokesman said.

Philip's funeral is set to take place next Saturday and his coffin will be processed through Windsor Castle, royal officials confirmed. The funeral will be broadcast live at 3 p.m. U.K. time (10 a.m. ET).

On the day of the funeral, at around 2:40 p.m in the U.K. (9:40 a.m. ET) on April 17, Philip's coffin will be moved in a small ceremonial procession from the state entrance to the castle to the chapel.

It will be known as a ceremonial royal funeral and not a state funeral, which is generally reserved for monarchs. The funeral plans take into account the country's COVID guidelines and is "much reduced in scale with no public access," a palace spokesman said.

The funeral will take place entirely within the grounds of the castle and plans have been given final approval by the Queen but they "still very much reflect the personal wishes of the Duke. The occasion will still celebrate and recognize the Duke's life and his more than 70 years of service to the Queen, the U.K. and the Commonwealth."

"While this is naturally a time of sadness and mourning for the royal family and the many others who knew and admired the Duke of Edinburgh, it is hoped that the coming days will also be seen as an opportunity to celebrate a remarkable life: Remarkable both in terms of his vast contribution and lasting legacy," a Buckingham Palace spokesman previously said.

News of the Duke of Edinburgh's death at age 99 was announced on Friday.

"It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh," the palace said in a statement. "The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss." The monarch will also refrain from carrying out any royal duties for the next eight days as she enters a mourning period.

The funeral will be held in line with the appropriate U.K. government guidelines, officials have said. The palace hopes that people will not converge on Windsor Castle to lay flowers or pay their respects on the day, but stay at home and watch the service on the television.

BLM Co-Founder Patrisse Khan-Cullors Buys Million Dollar Home And Black Folks Have Questions!

Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Khan-Cullors is once again getting backlash over money and BLM finances after purchasing a $1.4-plus million home in the rustic and predominately white Los Angeles community of Topanga Canyon.

Kahn-Cullors, 37, is a graduate of University of California, Los Angeles and University of Southern California who has been married for about five years to social activist and amateur boxer Janaya Khan, co-founder of Black Lives Matter Toronto, Dirt reported.

Kahn-Cullors created the #BlackLivesMatter hashtag in 2013 after George Zimmerman was acquitted in the 2012 shooting of Black teenager Trayvon Martin. The BLM movement grew tremendously during worldwide protests of George Floyd’s killing in the summer of 2020 by Minneapolis police. Donations poured in for BLM. After pressure, the organization finally revealed it had raised $90 million in 2020.

Since launching BLM, Kahn-Cullors has been busy making deals. She published a book, “When They Call You a Terrorist: A Black Lives Matter Memoir,” in 2018. And last fall she inked a deal with Warner Bros. TV to create original programming that raises Black voices on streaming services and traditional TV channels, The Los Angeles Times reported.

With BLM growing in presence and financial power, Khan-Cullors was called on the carpet for what some have called grifting off of Black tragedy for financial gain. Due to disagreements over the running of the organization, co-founder Alicia Garza and Opal Tometi split from BLM.

Now the purchase of the $1.4 million-dollar home has resulted in more backlash against Khan-Cullors.

People are questioning why and how Kahn-Cullors is shelling out so much for a home.

“When we say Black organizations don’t have to be transparent & perform audits on where the money goes & what the money produces, we can participate in structural harm,” The Moguldom Nation founder Jamarlin Martin tweeted. “A soft bigotry: Black America is not worthy of accountability & outcome measurement. ‘Just give the money’”.

Why Kahn-Cullors might have chosen to buy in Topanga Canyon raised a lot of questions.

“For somebody that claims to love Black people, it’s kinda strange that she chose a place to live that’s practically devoid of Black people,” a Twitter user wrote.

Some accused her of cashing in on BLM. “She capitalized on that ‘Injustice against Black People’ bag. They’ve been scamming since day 1,” another tweeted.

“This is blood money,” charged another.

Kahn-Cullors’s new home is not quite 2,400 square feet with a three-bedroom, two-bath main house and a separate one-bedroom, one-bath guest apartment, private entry and a living room with a kitchenette, according to Dirt.

The average price for a home in Topanga is $1,419,592, according to Zillow.

Nick Cannon Expecting Twins With Abby De La Rosa!

Nick Cannon is about to welcome a new pair of little ones into his life.

The 40-year-old star and Abby De La Rosa, 30, are expecting twin boys, as she announced the news via Instagram on Sunday, April 11. She shared video footage and a number of photos of the couple together, and in them, she wore a pearl shawl top exposing her pregnant belly.

"Our dearest sons - my miracle babies, Thank you for choosing me to be your Mommy," the DJ captioned the posts. "I know the Lord has destined me and prepared me for the gift of not one but two little angels. Will Smith & Antoine Fuqua Pull Slave Film ‘Emancipation’ From Georgia Due To State’s New Voter Restriction Law!

Will Smith and Antoine Fuqua will no longer be filming their slave drama Emancipation in Georgia thanks to new voting laws in the state.

As previously reported, Governor Brian Kemp signed a controversial law that puts heavier restrictions on Georgia voters. The new legislation limits the number of ballot drop boxes and makes it illegal to provide voters in line with food and water.

While many called for the film industry to boycott the state, Will Smith and Antoine Fuqua are the first big names to do so.

Will Smith and Antoine Fuqua released a joint statement Monday (April 12th):

“At this moment in time, the Nation is coming to terms with its history and is attempting to eliminate vestiges of institutional racism to achieve true racial justice. We cannot in good conscience provide economic support to a government that enacts regressive voting laws that are designed to restrict voter access. The new Georgia voting laws are reminiscent of voting impediments that were passed at the end of Reconstruction to prevent many Americans from voting. Regrettably, we feel compelled to move our film production work from Georgia to another state.”

Antoine Fuqua is directing the movie and his Fuqua Films company is slated to produce. Will Smith will star and produce under his Westbrook, Inc. William N. Collage wrote the film.

It tells the story of Whipped Peterson (Will Smith), who was a slave before he emancipated himself and joined the Union Army. He was soon recognized in multiple photographs that revealed the scars he suffered from being whipped when he was a slave. The pictures were published in a well-known magazine, Harper’s Weekly, including one called “The Scourged Back.” That photo showed several severe whip injuries on his back from plantation owners, John and Bridget Lyons.

Apple Studios greenlighted the movie last July.

Tyler Perry, who opened Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta in 2019 previously urged Hollywood not to boycott Georgia as he condemned the new law.

He told The Hollywood Reporter,

“As a Georgia resident and business owner I’ve been here a few times with the anti-abortion bill and the LGBTQ discrimination bill. They all sent a shockwave through Georgia and the nation but none of them managed to succeed.”

He said he wants the Department of Justice to look into the law.

“I’m resting my hope in the DOJ taking a hard look at this unconstitutional voter suppression law that harkens to the Jim Crow era.”

He shared his thoughts on some calling for people to boycott the state and added,

“As some consider boycotting, please remember that we did turn Georgia blue and there is a gubernatorial race on the horizon — that’s the beauty of a democracy.”

Regé-Jean Page Allegedly Left ‘Bridgerton’ Over ‘Creative Differences With Shonda Rhimes & Her Team’, Source Claims!

More is coming out about Regé-Jean Page’s shocking exit from Shonda Rhimes’ Bridgerton.

As previously reported, Regé-Jean Page is leaving the Netflix series after its debut season.

Insiders told The Hollywood Reporter, that he only had a one-season contract with the show. While fans might be surprised that Rege-Jean Page’s Duke Simon Basset won’t be back, this reportedly aligns with what producers and Netflix had in mind all along. Still, THR says he was “offered an opportunity to return as a guest star in three to five episodes of Season 2 — at a rate of $50,000 an episode — but declined for a multitude of reasons.”

One of the alleged reasons was that Simon wouldn’t be a main character in season two.

Still, new reports allege there’s another reason he’s leaving.

An insider told Page Six,

“Regé is not coming back to ‘Bridgerton’ because of creative differences with [executive producer] Shonda Rhimes and her team. He wasn’t happy with what was planned for his character for Season 2, which would have kept him a player but not the focal point of the show.”

They added that, “Regé has been inundated with offers for other interesting and challenging leading roles. If you look at all the big names who have left [Rhimes’] ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ in the past, you see you don’t disagree with Shonda, nobody is bigger than the show.”

They said besides the “creative differences,” Page left on good terms.

He spoke on the exit himself with Variety and said he never planned on starring in the show, which was viewed in more than 80 million households, after its first season.

“It’s a one-season arc. It’s going to have a beginning, middle, end—give us a year. [I thought] ‘That’s interesting,’ because then it felt like a limited series. I get to come in, I get to contribute my bit, and then the Bridgerton family rolls on.”

What are your thoughts on Regé-Jean Page and Shonda Rhimes allegedly having “creative differences”?
