“Black Panther” Star Letitia Wright Strikes a Pose for ELLE Magazine!

In the November Issue of ELLE, on newsstands November 3, “Black Panther” star Letitia Wright opens up about racism in Hollywood, her faith in God, and the heartbreaking loss of her former costar Chadwick Boseman photographed by Marcin Kempski and styled by Jenny Kennedy.

On wishing she could have said good-bye to Chadwick Boseman: “I wish I got to say goodbye. I messaged you a couple of times, but I thought you were just busy. I didn’t know you were dealing with so much.” She continues: “It is also written that all things are made new, there is light in the darkness.” It echoes a line she left me with as we said goodbye on that baking-hot day. “I’m happy to be a light in the world. That’s my spirit,” she says. “I can’t be anything else. And if I am, then something’s wrong.”

On setting up her own production company, 316 Productions: “It’s an opportunity to create the roles that I didn’t see for Black women and men, or Asian people,” she says. Her first project with 316 is a short film called Things I Never Told My Father, which, she says, is intended to explore the dynamics of grief. “I saw my friend deal with the loss of his uncle, who was basically his father,” she says. “The way he dealt with it was like, ‘Damn, you’re really trying your best to grit your teeth and get through this, but you’re hurting.’ I want to make films where the subject matter is really important, and the project gives Black actors—your brothers and sisters—something to work with, a character who’s a full human being.”

On attributing much of her success to her connection with God: As her acting career took off in her late teens, she put herself under intense mental strain: “I remember analyzing every single thing. If I went on a red carpet, I’d analyze the picture. If I did an interview, I’d analyze the video. If I spent time with friends, after I left, I’d think to myself, ‘Why did I laugh like that? Why did I show teeth?’” She says when she joined the church at age 22, she was finally able to see the bigger picture. “I started to realize that, you know, it’s not about me, it’s not about how much people can validate me. I started to see the power of God and not the power of man.”

Like many others, Wright has also used her time in quarantine to contemplate her life and look inward. A fan of Guyana’s slow-paced culture, she has even considered relocating there: “It’s perfect, because if I need to go to the U.S., it’s quick. It’s not as complicated as it seems,” she tells me, sounding like she’s close to making up her mind on a move. “It’s so funny—last night, some stuff popped up on YouTube about African Americans relocating to Africa and how happy they were. I was like, ‘This is actually the way to be. Why are we fighting [racists in the U.S.]? Why are we shouting at them to give us space when we can go to our motherland and have space there?’”

#RHOP: Monique Samuels Reacts to Candiace Dillard Pressing Charges: 'I Could Be Arrested'!

Monique Samuels feels she has "no choice" but to go after Candiace Dillard after her former friend pressed charges against her following their brawl on The Real Housewives of Potomac.

In a preview for next week's episode, Monique, 37, reacts to Candiace, 33, taking legal action. "If the judge believes your story and never heard mine, I could be arrested in front of my kids," Monique says in the teaser.

Next, viewers learn that Monique has filed a counterclaim against Candiace. "If you're going to come after me, I have no choice but to come after you," Monique says in a confessional interview.

The clip then transitions to show Candiace crying, seemingly in response to news of Monique's suit against her. "That rusty a-- bitch," Candiace says of Monique.

Back in November 2019, both Monique and Candiace accused each other of second-degree assault, filing complaints directly with the District Court of Montgomery County in Maryland. In December, however, the Montgomery County State's Attorney's Office informed lawyers for the costars that they would not be pursuing their ongoing cross complaints.

The counterclaim comes after Candiace confronted Karen Huger about holding Monique accountable on Sunday's episode.

Candiace had been feeling as though Karen was taking Monique's side, and decided to confront her at an event hosted by Dr. Wendy Osefo.

"You've made excuses for Monique, you have coddled Monique, you are choosing a side," Candiace told Karen, 57. "I need to hear from you that you understand what Monique did was wrong."

Karen, who told Monique earlier this season that she "f---ed up" following the fight, fired back: "One of the things I know about you, Candiace, is that you are brilliant. Your mind is so powerful, but so is your mouth."

"I'm a little insulted that you continue to say that I should be against Monique," Karen continued, maintaining that she has always stood by Candiace's side. "Let me tell you, young woman, that I coddled you a year ago, I protected you, I had your back. When I was holding you down, I didn't always agree, and I am doing no more for my friend Monique than I did for you. Monique did a horrific thing and I told her she needed help. If the shoes were reversed, I would do the same thing for you."

Continuing, Karen said she felt that something was "wrong medically with Monique," but would continue to stand "neutral until I hear the medical reports." (After the fight, Monique told the women she "blacked out" and had no control of her body.)

While Karen insisted that she was staying neutral, Monique expressed that she was "confused" about Karen's intentions after Ashley Darby revealed to her that Karen advised Candiace to take legal action.

Earlier during Sunday's episode, Ashley, 32, relayed to Monique while at her podcast event that Karen told Ashley and Gizelle Bryant that she would "look into what she could do legally" following the fight.

"Karen has been showing me support... so I'm confused as to how a conversation could happen where Karen encouraged Candiace to file a complaint against me," Monique said in a confessional interview.

Ashley said she agreed that Karen's behavior wasn't in line with someone who was trying to stay neutral. "Karen pushed the domino, starting this whole process of Candiace pressing charges. She can't say that she's staying completely out of it if she's giving that sort of advice," she said.

Elsewhere in the episode, Robyn Dixon's parents give her ex-husband Juan their blessing to marry their daughter again, and Karen and her husband Ray sought couple's therapy after experiencing martial problems.

The Real Housewives of Potomac airs Sundays (9 p.m. ET) on Bravo.

#MusicNews: Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings Share “In The Bush,” New Collection ‘Is HERE!

Ahead of their new collection of cover songs, Just Dropped in to See What Condition my Rendition was in, out this Friday, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings share their version “In The Bush,” originally by Musique. Earlier singles include “Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours,” the Stevie Wonder classic, and “Little By Little,” made famous by Dusty Springfield. The physical LP, available on RSD Black Friday, will feature an exclusive transparent blue with black splatter color vinyl.

A slight detour from the classic soul of the preceding singles, “In The Bush” finds Jones and the Dap-Kings bringing their sound to the disco era. Groovy string sections give way to booming horns, above which the vocals soar. There’s one question, posed by Jones and her singers, that you’ve gotta answer – “Are you ready for this?”

Stream “In the Bush” HERE

Just Dropped In… features covers by acts ranging from Janet Jackson to Woody Guthrie, showcasing the eclectic taste and superb musicality of Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings. Over two decades, the band and Jones have built a reputation as studio aces, and this album compiles some of their most popular, as well as completely unreleased, renditions — originally recorded on their own or for commercials, movies, and TV shows.

Both “Rescue Me” and “In the Bush” were among the outtakes on the cutting room floor of The Wolf of Wall Street motion picture soundtrack, for which the band recorded several unused sides. “Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)” was not just a remake of the Kenny Rogers’ First Edition hit, but more specifically a near re-play of Bettye Lavette’s 1968 version, and was notably the very first recording done at the Daptone House of Soul studio in 2002. The band’s replay of Gladys Knight’s “Giving Up” was specifically requested but unused by a producer who was confident he needed it to sample for a beat on a Dr. Dre album.

“Little by Little,” “Inspiration Information,” “Here I Am Baby,” and “Take Me with U” were cut for tribute projects to Dusty Springfield, Shuggie Otis, The Marvelettes, and Prince, respectively. The latter is a perfect example of the way the band was able to take a familiar tune and completely flip it on it’s head.

Hear “In The Bush” HERE

Of course, there were also many non-contracted covers over the years that the band cut of their own volition, starting with the complete re-invention of Janet Jackson’s “What Have You Done for Me Lately” on the their 2001 debut LP, Dap-Dippin’ with…, which convinced more than a few fans that Sharon’s version was in fact the original after a counterfeit news article surfaced claiming that Jones was suing Jackson for copyright infringement. Sharon’s heart-wrenching take on Bob Marley’s early Wailers ballad “It Hurts to be Alone” is a tender nod to the soul that Jamaica borrowed from the States in the early sixties.

Though the band has mostly built their career on a prolific catalog of originals, these forays into other artists’ compositions lay bare their gift for arrangement and the unmatched studio prowess that earned them their reputation as The Baddest Band in the Land.

Just Dropped In… comes as Jones’ second posthumous release following the group’s most recent album, Soul of a Woman (2017). Jones passed away in 2016 from pancreatic cancer.

#HipHopNews: André 3000's Unreleased Verse From Nas & Kanye West's 'Cops Shot The Kid' Surfaces Online!

Hip Hop fans missed out on hearing an André 3000 and Nas collaboration in 2018. During an Instagram livestream, former G.O.O.D. Music executive Che Pope played a snippet of an unreleased André 3000 verse from Nas and Kanye West’s song “Cops Shot The Kid.”

Pope shared the Outkast legend’s appearance on the single while livestreaming multiple unreleased cuts from Yeezy’s vault. The final version of “Cops Shot The Kid” without 3 Stacks was released on 2018’s NASIR album, which was part of Kanye’s “Wyoming Sessions” projects.

Although fans weren’t able to enjoy the André 3000 and Nas collaboration on the NASIR LP, the respected MCs have worked together before. The two previously teamed up on R&B singer Lloyd’s “I Want You (Remix)” in 2007.

An André 3000 guest appearance getting shelved is unfortunate though since he rarely drops any music these days. Outside of occasional features, the respected artist hasn’t dropped a full-length project since Outkast’s Idlewild LP in 2006.

Nas, on the other hand, remains quite active. Just a few months ago, he released his King’s Disease album, which debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200.

Check out André 3000’s unreleased verse above and revisit the official version of “Cops Shot The Kid” HERE!

50 Cent Denounces Donald Trump Says ‘I Never Liked Him’!

Just days after publicly endorsing Donald Trump, the rap mogul is distancing himself from the President, claiming he “never liked him.” On Saturday, 50 shared a clip from his ex-girlfriend Chelsea Handler’s appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” where she discussed 50’s support for Trump.

“So he doesn’t want to pay 62 percent in taxes because he doesn’t want to go from 50 Cent to 20 Cent and I had to remind him that he was a Black person, so he can’t vote for Donald Trump and that he shouldn’t be influencing an entire swath of people who may listen to him because he’s worried about his own personal pocketbook,” Handler told Fallon.

50 responded to Handler by denouncing Trump. “👀a what, 😳another spin 💫F**k Donald Trump, i never liked him,” he wrote. “for all i know he had me set up and had my friend Angel Fernandez killed but that’s history.LOL.”

On Monday, 50 endorsed Trump by sharing a graphic of Joe Biden’s proposed tax plan, which would raise taxes for New York’s top earners. “WHAT THE F**K! (VOTE ForTRUMP) IM OUT, F**K NEW YORK The KNICKS never win anyway,” he wrote. “I don’t care Trump doesn’t like black people 62% are you out of ya fu**ing mind.”

Following his comments, Handler called out her ex, who she briefly dated in 2010 after he was a guest on her E! talk show “Chelsea Lately.” “You used to be my favorite ex-boyfriend,” she tweeted.

The comedian also offered to pay 50’s taxes if he reconsidered his support for Trump. “Hey fu**er! I will pay your taxes in exchange for you coming to your senses. Happily!” she tweeted. “Black lives matter. That’s you, fu**er! Remember?”

“Oh my God this is effecting my love life now,” 50 replied. “@chelseahandler I love ya Gator, don’t let Trump and Joe Biden come between us girl.”

During her “Tonight Show” interview, Handler also made an offer to 50 if he decided to denounce Trump. “I am willing to seal the deal in more ways than one if he changes his mind and publicly denounces Donald Trump,” she said. “I might be willing to go for another spin, if you know what I’m talking about.”

Is Wendy Williams Back Using Drugs?

Last year talk show host Wendy Williams checked herself into inpatient rehab for her substance abuse issues

Has Wendy fallen off the wagon...? Sure looks like it.

On Friday Wendy Williams was visibly impaired during her show and insiders tell B. Scott that Wendy is "self-medicating" with some sort of opioid.

WATCH HERE and you decide!

The source explains,

“The production staff is at a loss for what to do.”

“Because of COVID, the staff sits in the audience every show, and they’re constantly worried she’s going to pass out on the air like before. Some days it’s so bad, the producers will pull the plug and air a repeat. But It’s a big production and they can’t keep wasting money like that.”

“It’s an awful situation, and everyone involved around her is both concerned and over it. Everyone feels bad for all the personal drama she’s gone through the last few years at the hands of her loutish ex-husband, but what can they do?”

“They always attribute everything to her thyroid disease medication, but that’s obviously just a cover story and no one buys it anymore. Friday’s show was the worst it’s been.

Adele Blew Right Past Weight Loss to Host a Winning Saturday Night Live!

Adele’s Saturday Night Live hosting gig was medicine for this 10-days-out-from-the-election stress nightmare. As this weekend’s gracious emcee, she was relaxed, charismatic, and a joy. In her monologue, she quickly acknowledged and dispensed with the blithering headlines about her weight loss. “I know I look really, really different since you last saw me, but, actually, because of all the COVID restrictions and the travel bans, I had to travel light and only bring half of me,” she joked. “And this is the half I chose.”

It was a deft flick at the inconsequential, before getting on with the real news: Adele is a star. An old-school kind of star who demands her own vehicles, projects designed to show her falling in love and falling over laughing and tears falling out of her eyes. The kind of star you want to watch emerge from a dressing room in a bunch of different outfits, or slapping somebody monstrous in the face. SNL this season is hurting due to a lack of Cecily Strong and Aidy Bryant—both of whom are taking time away right now to film other projects—but this Saturday’s episode was a step in the right direction. Is wanting Adele to be your new best friend a symptom of COVID?

This is veering quickly into fan fiction—and we haven’t even gotten to the part where Adele busted out “Someone Like You” during the Bachelor sketch. The woman told us that she couldn’t handle being both host and musical guest because her new album (!) isn’t yet done; she also said she was too nervous, and that she slides into the swears too easy. Then she went and busted out four of her biggest hits. We got an Adele concert and two H.E.R. songs to boot.

All this waxing rhapsodic really goes back to the moment Saturday night when Adele broke while playing a divorcee tourist in the Africa sketch. First, she ran her tongue over her teeth in an attempt to keep a straight face. Then she exhaled a whale’s spout of a laugh, until finally the woman was literally holding her hands over her ears—an attempt to save herself from hearing Kate McKinnon purr “tribesman” again, or Heidi Gardner promising that visitors will experience that deep connection right in their stomach. You wanted to see Adele laugh like an idiot. Damn it, I want to laugh like that too.

I didn’t get that laugh during the cold open, which blessedly will be our last debate sketch for a good, long while. Maya Rudolph gave good unflappable Kristen Welker. Alec Baldwin’s Donald Trump tried to ingratiate himself with this confusing person of color as best he could, alternately referring to her as Hoda Kotb, Padma Lakshmi, Mindy Kaling, and his waitress. As Joe Biden, Jim Carrey seemed like he might have spent the week tweaking his spin—a necessary recalibration. His hairline and makeup were better. He looked more like the birch tree that is Joe. “Just breathe, Joe,” he told himself. “If you don’t breathe, you’ll die.”

This week, Carrey had a better handle on Biden’s simmering gall. He was less limbs akimbo, and more amazed that Trump never had a father figure who schooled him with the threat of a belt on matters like Cub Scout honor and train etiquette. Cut to Kate McKinnon’s Rudy Giuliani, shot from the back and rubbing his… belly.

The best laughs of the evening came from the Village People, who stopped by Weekend Update in a state of energetic outrage over Trump seizing to their songs on the stump. Kenan Thompson delightfully led the band, though honorable mentions go to Bowen Yang in goatee and black leather and Alex Moffat’s excellent gyrating. McKinnon leaped past them as the band’s lawyer, Alan Dershowitz, who’d flipped on Trump and was eager to spill. “He knows what you’ve seen, on that island with Epstein!” Colin Jost tried to shut their slander down, and interjected again when they sang about a desire to shave Ivanka’s head. “Everything is legal if you sing it in a song!” assured Thompson. It was the highest-energy sketch of the night, and just the right amount of absurd.

We’ll have PTSD for years to come from all we’ve seen in 2020. The episode’s fortune teller sketch was a tribute to our outrageous year. McKinnon stroked the palms of some innocents back in 2019. One wonders if she’ll have a serious boyfriend; yes, McKinnon says, they’ll live together, and she’ll scream at him to do a better job disinfecting a bag of Doritos. Her vision of Adele is of a woman forced to give up museums and concerts, waiting instead for her Amazon delivery of a new adult coloring book. Nobody’s even friends with Yang anymore because that motherfucker ate in a restaurant. Tiffany Toobin doesn’t even want to know.

The Paid for By Trump Addicts of America ad started off so earnest one wondered if SNL had actually decided to speak straight to voters. But then it played on our swollen appetites for outrage at the tail-end of this Tweeting term. How will we know what to do with ourselves if we really do get rid of the man? If we’re not fighting with our conservative relatives, will we ever talk to them again? What will poor Rachel Maddow do? (The MSNBC host immediately tweeted out reassurance that she’d manage just fine, thank you.) Any hand-wringing was put to rest by the giddy prospect of a trial. “Maybe he’ll represent himself in court!”

At the end of the night, Adele bid us a beaming adieu from behind her face shield. “I know it was random, but I had the time of my life! Look out for each other and don’t forget to vote!” Get this girl a pint.

Mike Tyson Confronts Boosie Badazz Over Homophobic Comments Towards Dwyane Wade’s Daughter!

Boosie Badazz appeared on a recent episode of Mike Tyson’s “Hotboxin with Mike Tyson” podcast. From the onset of the sit-down with the iconic Boxing Champion, the rapper appeared reflective, repentant, and was oftentimes left speechless during what he called a “bucket list” moment in his career.

Tyson grilled Boosie and held no punches as he asked about controversial statements he’s made about homosexuals and transgendered people, especially his most recent tirade regarding Dwyane Wade’s daughter Zaya.

“How do you feel about hurting other people feelings?” Mike asked around the four-minute mark. “You offended a lot of people, talk about gay muthaf*ckas and h*m*s and f*gg*ts,” to which Boosie admitted, “No, a lot of times I need to shut the f*ck up.”

Tyson interrupted him asking, “Why don’t you?” Boosie responded and revealed, “It be hard. My mama got on my a** yesterday, told me I need to ‘Shut the f*ck up.’ But when it be on my heart, I feel like I gotta say something.”

Tyson went on to dig deeper, asking Boosie if his anger towards homosexuals is a reflection of his own true feelings about himself.

“Nah, nah, you know I’m straight as an arrow … I really commented on the Dwyane Wade situation because I got offended ’cause it’s a child,” Boosie told Tyson. “If it was an 18-year-old, 19-year-old grown person, I wouldn’t have said anything, but that’s a child. I felt like a child ain’t … at 12, can’t make that decision. And certain things I talk about like that, that was going too far. You calling him a her, that’s going too far.”

Tyson himself admitted that he agreed with Boosie’s opinion but explained he was wise enough to know it’s not his place to speak on some else’s life. “I agree with you, but who the f*ck am I to say anything? What I think don’t mean a muthaf*ckin’ thing.”

Boosie initially held his ground on his opinions about Wade’s daughter but eventually relented and apologized after he pondered Mike’s points. He apologized at around the 14:50 mark.

“Oh yeah, I apologize to Dwyane Wade,” Boosie said, “I mean what I said but … I shouldn’t have said the shit about your child.”

The podcast was filled with great dialogue and countless gems dropped by Tyson about life, love, and relationships- many moments left Boosie and the other guest rapper Mo3 speechless.

Marlon Wayans Tells Tiffany Haddish Why She Was Never Cast In Any Of His Films!

Marlon Wayans stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show this week, where he got a chance to chop it up with guest host Tiffany Haddish.

The two revealed they met at a comedy camp in the late 90s when Haddish was only 16-years-old. That encounter began Haddish’s relationship with the Wayans family. She told him that at the time, she had a girlish crush on Marlon’s brother Shawn. To which he quipped, “you wasn’t ready!”

Haddish wasted no time putting Wayans on the spot, asking why she’s auditioned so many times to be in the Wayans family’s films without ever being cast.

“I know we friends, and I know you love me. I love you. You have helped me in so many different aspects in life, gave me some great advice,” she told her friend.

“But this what I want to know. I have auditioned for so many of your movies, your family— Why do I never get cast?” she asked. “You even made a role, ‘Tiffany Haddish type!’ I auditioned for myself! I auditioned to play me!”

“You wasn’t right for the part,” the 48-year-old comedian joked. “Me and my family always say you’re funny. As producers, you hire and cast people. You were always funny, but you were always on 10. And sometimes, you just be inappropriate.”

“It’s like a love scene, and you want to sit on the actor’s lap and fart,” the On The Rocks actor explained. “And it’s like ‘no Tiffany, it’s not for this scene.’ So, it was maturation that hit you.”

“It’s like, for me, even, right now, I feel like I’m ready. I’ve been preparing 30 years for what’s happening to me now. It all happens to you at a certain time when maturity and that stardom hits you,” Wayans continued.

“Never nothing personal. We love you,” he assured her. “Always thought you was funny. Me and my family, we proud of you.”

Marlon then thanked the funny woman for putting his niece on her stand-up series They Ready, joking that now he doesn’t have to employ her before offering up some of his nephews if Haddish decides to produce a He Ready version of the show.

NYPD Officer Suspended Without Pay For Saying “Trump 2020” Over The Patrol Car Loud Speaker!

A New York City police officer has been suspended without pay after videos shared over social media on Saturday night appeared to show him using his patrol cars loudspeaker to promote “Trump 2020.”

According to NBC News, NYPD News’ official Twitter account shared a video posted of the incident and said that the Brooklyn South Investigation Unit was investigating the matter. NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea also called the incident “one hundred percent unacceptable.”

“Law Enforcement must remain apolitical, it is essential in our role to serve ALL New Yorkers regardless of any political beliefs,” Shea tweeted.

On Sunday, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio also posted a comment on the incident via his Twitter account, “Let me be clear: ANY NYPD Officer pushing ANY political agenda while on duty will face consequences,” de Blasio said. “We will act fast here, and this will not be tolerated.”

Endorsing a political candidate or sharing personal views while in uniform or on duty is very clearly outlined as prohibited conduct in the NYPD patrol guide.
