Century 21 Files For Bankruptcy And Plans Shutdown Of All 13 Locations!
Lower Manhattan retail mecca Century 21, after surviving the 9/11 attacks across the street, couldn’t outlast COVID-19.
The retail company is closing its flagship location on Cortlandt St. and its 12 other stores after filing for bankruptcy protection in Manhattan, according to a statement released Thursday.
The Manhattan location opened 59 years ago, with Century 21 announcing a going-out-of-business sale there and at stores in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Florida.

“While we wish that Century 21 could continue to be a must-see shopping destination for so many, we are proud of the pioneering role it has played in off-price retail and the iconic brand it has become," said co-CEO I.G. Gindi. "It has been a true honor for us to be part of the vibrant New York City fashion scene and to serve millions of locals, tourists and celebrities side by side.”
The court filing for Chapter 11 protection cites a failure of insurance providers to pay $175 million under policies designed to protect Century 21 from unforeseen interruptions in business like the ongoing pandemic. The company, renowned for offering designer brands at discount prices, also withdrew a pending Manhattan Supreme Court lawsuit against a number of its insurance providers.

“While retailers across the board have suffered greatly due to COVID-19, and Century 21 is no exception, we are confident that had we received any meaningful portion of the insurance proceeds, we would have been able to save thousands of jobs and weather the storm, in hopes of another incredible recovery," said co-CEO Raymond Gindi.

Century 21 required a $10 million rebuild after the store was severely damaged by burning embers, thick smoke and flooding in the 9/11 attack.

In addition to the sale at its brick and mortar locations, Century 21 will also offer discounted clothing via its website.

Legendary singer Jody Watley loves to keep us dancing. Earlier this year, she dazzled us with the release of her EP Winter Nights and her single "The Healing." POWER couple Beyoncé and Jay Z have been cruising the waters of the Mediterranean on board a $2million-a-WEEK superyacht.
The superstars, who are estimated to be worth a combined $1.4billion, celebrated Beyoncé's 39th birthday aboard the incredible boat with their children, Blue Ivy, eight, and twins, Rumi and Sir, three.
Beyonce and Jay-Z - real name Shawn Carter - were spotted doting on their kids off the coast of Cavtat, Croatia.

They have been cruising around on the 351-foot long and 45-foot high luxurious yacht called Lana for Beyoncé's week-long birthday bonanza vacation.
One of the largest vessels built by an Italian shipyard, Lana is one of the most impressive superyachts on the water.
Boasting a soft color pallet to create a sense of serenity throughout, Lana's high ceiling and sculptural elements replicate the motion of the sea.
Inside there are eight staterooms and one master suite, each with an en-suite and decorated in an individual color scheme.

Lana also has plenty of entertainment to keep her VIP guests occupied during their stay.
There is a luxurious spa with treatment rooms to unwind and indulge, a well-equipped gym with professional trainers, a cinema room with an impressive audio system and an outdoor pool to savor sunny days.

The superyacht also has a unique Beach Club and two folding terraces, which offer all the state-of-the-art toys including jet skis, wakeboards, SEABOBs, water skies, inflatable paddleboards and fishing equipment.
The Crazy in Love hitmakers headed out on one of Lana's speed boats during the seven day vacation in Croatia with their youngest two children.
Beyoncé looked ever stylish in gold hoop earrings, blue shirt with a white print and wicker hat.

She completed the look with berry colored lipstick and metal framed sunglasses.
The family protected themselves from coronavirus by wearing face masks when on dry land, with Beyoncé's mask sporting a white lined smile across it.
Her much-needed break came after she was recently spotted filming in the Hamptons and the release of her visual album, Black is King on Disney+.

Here’s The REAL Reason Why Keeping Up With The Kardashians Are Going off The Air!
Kanye West’s mental health crisis, E!’s finances, and a big Kardashian cash grab were all factors in the demise of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” sources say.
Insiders exclusively told Page Six that the Kardashian family has been talking about “what the end of their show looks like” for “three or four years” before dropping the bombshell this week that the series will end after 20 seasons. “It’s been a long time, coming,” they said.
But we’re told that matters came to a head because of a number of factors, including a West’s ongoing mental health struggles.

Insiders said that Kim Kardashian already had reservations about exposing West’s bipolar battle to the viewing public. And she’s recently begged the “media and public to have compassion and empathy” during his latest bouts — so teeing up storylines around the illness would’ve rung as hypocritical. And leaving West out of the show — as they could have done as the show’s executive producers — would have left fans feeling cheated.

Meanwhile, E!’s parent company, NBCUniversal, has been hard hit financially by COVID, and E! just lost its other flagship show “E! News” in the economic fallout. (It’s been replaced by “Daily Pop” and “Nightly Pop,” and the “E! News” brand remains online.)

Sources said that when the Kardashians had floated their exit in the past, E! was able to dangle ever-larger checks to bring them back — but this time, the pockets aren’t so deep.
As Page Six first reported, in 2017 the family renewed its contract with E! through 2020 for $100 million, and we’re told that they wanted more to re-up, in spite of the battered economy.
At the same time, the show — which scored a high of 5.8 million viewers for a season premiere in 2010 — brought in just 1.6 million viewers for its most recent episode — perhaps reducing the network’s motivation to spend more hard-to-come-by cash.

Another factor: Sources said that for the last four years or so, the show has been more important to the family as a platform to advertise their many, many, products and draw new potential customers than as a source of income in its own right. Plus, the family’s social media followings now reach many times more eyeballs than the show — so they’re less tied to the E! series as a marketing machine.

Reps for E! declined to comment and a rep for the Kardashians didn’t get back to us.

Kevin Spacey Accused of Sexually Assaulting Two 14-Year-Old Boys in New Lawsuit!
Kevin Spacey on Wednesday was sued by two men who say the actor sexually assaulted them in the 1980s when they were 14 years old.
The first plaintiff is Anthony Rapp, who previously said Spacey “tried to seduce” him decades ago when he was a 14-year-old actor appearing on Broadway. Rapp claimed that a then-26-year-old Spacey invited him to a party at the older actor’s apartment in 1986, placed him on his bed, climbed on top of him and made a sexual advance before the younger actor was able to “squirm” away.

The second plaintiff is identified only as C.D., who says he met Spacey in 1981 as a student in Spacey’s acting class when he was 12 years old. According to the complaint, obtained by TheWrap, the two met again when C.D. was 14, at which point Spacey invited him to his apartment where C.D. says he performed anal and oral sex on Spacey.
According to the complaint, the two had sexual encounters on several other occasions, but in their final meeting, C.D. says Spacey attempted to perform anal sex on the boy. After C.D. said “no” several times, he was able to free himself and flee the apartment.

Kevin Spacey did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.
According to the suit, both Rapp and C.D. have suffered psychological damage, including “severe emotional distress, humiliation, fright, anger, depression and anxiety” due to Spacey’s abuse.

Kevin Spacey has faced criminal and civil charges in Nantucket, Massachusetts, and Los Angeles. The Nantucket case against Spacey was dropped in July 2019 due to “the unavailability of the complaining witness.” The unnamed accuser claimed that Spacey groped him at a Nantucket bar three years ago.
At the end of last year, Spacey settled a sexual assault lawsuit with an unidentified massage therapist who had said the actor forced him to touch his genitals twice during a massage session in Malibu. The man died earlier in 2019 of undisclosed causes, according to his attorney.

Kevin Spacey is also being investigated by Scotland Yard over six claims of sexual harassment and assault that allegedly occurred in London while the actor was artistic director of the Old Vic Theatre from 2004 to 2015.

Kool & the Gang co-founder Ronald ‘Khalis’ Bell dead at 68!
Ronald “Khalis” Bell, a co-founder and singer of the group Kool & the Gang, has died. He was 68.

Tory Lanez Finally Breaks Silence Following Megan Thee Stallion Incident!
Tory Lanez is pushing back against claims that his streams have fallen since the shooting incident with Megan Thee Stallion
After weeks of speculation, rapper Tory Lanez has finally broken his silence following the shooting incident involving Megan Thee Stallion, but fans are disappointed about what part of the controversy he chose to address.
Last week, Forbes reported that fans who were upset at the Toronto native for allegedly shooting Meg had boycotted his music, causing his streams to plummet by a whopping 40% after she named him as her attacker.

“Tory’s audio streams were consistently in the 20 million to 30 million range since mid-June, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data,” reported the outlet. “However, during the week of August 21, following Megan’s revealing August 20 livestream, Tory’s streams plummeted by nearly 9 million—a 40% drop from the previous week’s 22 million streams.”

After the article was published, Lanez, who has been radio silent for weeks, reached out to HotNewHipHop to refute the claims about his sales while making no mention of the altercation between him and his female colleague that made headlines.
“Lmao that’s such a lie. 40% where?!!,” he responded on the publication’s Twitter, then clarified, “I have twenty-seven million monthly listeners on Spotify currently.”

Although the entertainer is claiming he has seen no notable drop in listeners due to the current controversy, his female collaborators have made it clear how they feel about the allegations against him.

 FX's Atlanta Season 3 & 4 Delayed!
Atlanta seasons 3 & 4 are delayed due to coronavirus. After already conquering the worlds of acting and music, Donald Glover further proved his domination of all things media as creator and star of Atlanta, the absolutely thought-provoking and definitely boundary-pushing comedy series, which debuted on FX in 2016 to critical acclaim. In 2018, Glover and company delivered a second season of Atlanta that brought even more surprises, including the now-iconic Teddy Perkins episode.

Given that it took two years for season 2 of Atlanta to arrive, fans knew they’d likely be in for a long wait for season 3, but now sadly it seems that wait will be even longer than expected. As reported by Variety, the upcoming third season of Glover’s groundbreaking show has been pushed back from January 2021 due to coronavirus, with production not expected to resume until the early part of next year. As a result, season 4 has also been delayed. The silver lining is that, according to FX chief Jon Landgraf, Glover and his writers have finished penning both seasons, which were always meant to be made back-to-back. Season 3 is now expected to arrive later in 2021 with no word on season 4’s possible premiere date.

Of course, very little is known about what Glover has in store for fans with seasons 3 and 4 of Atlanta, with Landgraf himself only offering the hint that the next two seasons represent “parts 1 and 2 of a new chapter in the series’ life.” Such vague clues obviously leave the door open for speculation, but with a show as unpredictable as Atlanta, such speculation is probably ill-advised anyway. Suffice it to say, the further adventures of Earn, Paper Boi, Darius and Van are eagerly anticipated by the show’s devotees, and given the show’s track record there’s every reason to believe that the next two seasons will at least maintain and possibly surpass the genre-bending creative level established by the first two.

Zendaya is AMAZING in the ‘Dune’ Trailer along with Timothée Chalamet, And Jason Momoa!
The first trailer for the highly-anticipated film “Dune”, from director Denis Villeneuve, has dropped online and it’s non-stop action from stars Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya and Jason Momoa.

The trailer was unveiled Wednesday on Twitter along with a panel hosted by Steven Colbert, featuring Villeneuve and members of the cast.
The action-packed three-minute trailer sees Chalamet as Paul Atreides of the House of Atreides, who must save the desert planet called Dune from an evil emperor’s rule.
Momoa, who plays top warrior for the House Atreides Duncan Idaho, said during the Q&A that filming some of the action scenes were intense for him — despite being known for his extreme workout routines.

“I’ve never run this much in my life,” Momoa said. “The sun was setting and so we had to get the shot. I had to run through this windstorm to Timothée, and I couldn’t see where I was going. I just didn’t want to fall on my face and I didn’t want to disappoint [Villeneuve]. But I’m not the best runner . . . and the amount of the chafing and the sweat that had built up, and I was like, I’m not gonna give up, I’m not gonna give up, but inside, I was crying like a little baby. There’s no way I want to be the black sheep in this thing, man.”

Another take on Frank Herbert’s iconic novel that has inspired countless science fiction and fantasy works over the years, the movie comes more than three decades after David Lynch’s 1984 film, which starred Kyle MacLachlan.

The 2020 remake also stars Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, Oscar Isaac and Stellan Skarsgård.
“Dune,” which is slated to hit theaters Dec. 18, 2020, will be one of two movies based on Herbert’s book and will cover the first half of the novel.
“The story is so rich and complex that, in order to be faithful to the book, we’ll need to make at least two movies,” Villeneuve said during Wednesday’s panel. “That was a deal right at the start.”

Warner Bros. also has an HBO Max prequel series in the works titled “Dune: The Sisterhood.”

Caster Semenya Loses Appeal Against Swiss Supreme Court’s Decision To Restrict Female Athletes With Naturally High Testosterone Levels!
South African middle-distance runner and two-time Olympic champion #MokgadiCasterSemenyaOIB has lost her appeal against the Swiss court’s new restriction of naturally high testosterone levels in female athletes.

Last year, the World Athletics guidelines introduced a new restriction that bans females with high testosterone levels from competing. On Tuesday, it was announced that Switzerland’s supreme court judges dismissed Semenya’s appeal against a Court of Arbitration’s ruling last year that maintained rules that were created by the track’s governing body, which ban female runners with differences in their sex development (DSD) from being able to compete.
This means that Semenya cannot compete and defend her Olympic 800 meter title at the Tokyo Games next year, all because she naturally has higher testosterone levels, the 71-page ruling states. In addition, she will be banned from competing in any top meets in distances from 400 meters to the mile unless she agrees to lower her testosterone level through medication or surgery, which Semenya has already declined.

“I am very disappointed by this ruling, but refuse to let World Athletics drug me or stop me from being who I am,” said the 29-year-old. “Excluding female athletes or endangering our health solely because of our natural abilities puts World Athletics on the wrong side of history.” The Swiss Federal Tribunal claims that Semenya’s appeal “essentially alleges a violation of the prohibition of discrimination.”

Three judges on the sports court said in a 2-to-1 decision that discriminating against Semenya was “necessary, reasonable and proportionate” in order to maintain fairness in women’s track. Testosterone is a hormone that strengthens muscle tone and bone mass, and can also be injected or ingested as a steroid to make someone faster or stronger. In Semenya’s case, she naturally has higher levels of the hormone. There were five judges on a panel that made the decision on Tuesday, and they say it was limited to examining “whether the CAS decision violates fundamental and widely recognized principles of public order. That is not the case.” The judges decided that Semenya’s “guarantee of human dignity” was not compromised by their decision.

“Implicated female athletes are free to refuse treatment to lower testosterone levels. The decision also does not aim to question in any way the female sex of implicated female athletes,” the federal court said. In response, the track star said, “I will continue to fight for the human rights of female athletes, both on the track and off the track until we can all run free the way we were born. I know what is right and will do all I can to protect basic human rights, for young girls everywhere.”

Hilaria Baldwin Gives Birth to 5th Child With Alec Baldwin!
Rainbow baby! Hilaria Baldwin and Alec Baldwin welcomed their fifth child on Tuesday, September 8, after previously suffering two miscarriages within a year.
“We had a baby last night,” the fitness guru, 36, captioned a Wednesday, September 9, Instagram photo from the hospital. “He is perfect and we couldn’t be happier.”
Hilaria announced in April that she was pregnant with baby No. 5. “I don’t have the words to express how this sound makes us feel,” the “Mom Brain” podcast cohost captioned an Instagram video of herself listening to her baby-to-be’s heartbeat. “Just got the great news that all is well and all is healthy with this little munchkin. I wanted to share this with you. Here we go again.”

The Living Clearly Method author said that she knew she had a little one on the way as soon as she started feeling “stupid.” She explained at the time: “That’s my first hint. I’m somebody that is very physically capable. I can do my yoga, I can dance, I can do this, I can [do] that, [but] I become a disaster. I bump into things.”
The Spain native wed Alec, 62, in June 2012 in New York and gave birth to their first child together, Carmen, now 6, two years later. They went on to welcome Rafael, 5, Leonardo, 3, and Romeo, 2. (The Saturday Night Live star is also the father of daughter Ireland with his ex-wife, Kim Basinger.)

In April 2019, Hilaria announced that she was “most likely” suffering a miscarriage and confirmed the loss later that same week. After announcing another pregnancy in September 2019, the former yoga instructor miscarried again two months later.

Ellen DeGeneres Says She Will Address Her Show’s Workplace Scandal When It Returns!
It wouldn’t sit right with the general public if talk show host Ellen DeGeneres returned to her show and didn’t address the elephant in the room – allegations of workplace misconduct and toxic work environment on set and behind the scenes of her show.
But, According to Vanity Fair, DeGeneres is ready to open up about the drama that plagued her daytime talk show this summer. On Tuesday, the 62-year-old host announced that her show will return with new episodes starting September 21.
“I can’t wait to get back to work and back to our studio,” DeGeneres said in a statement. “And, yes, we’re gonna talk about it.” “It” being the string of misconduct allegations that came out during the summer.

Usually, DeGeneres is known for projecting positivity with her comedy. However, on July 10, former staffers and one current employee claimed behind the scenes of the show was a toxic work environment.
“That ‘be kind’ bullshit only happens when the cameras are on. It’s all for show,” one former employee told BuzzFeed News. “I know they give money to people and help them out, but it’s for show.”
But the toxicity was not only from Ellen; another former employee said executive producers Andy Lassner, Mary Connelly, and Ed Glavin were also at fault. “The issue is these three executive producers running the show who are in charge of all these people [and] who make the culture and are putting out this feeling of bullying and being mean,” the former employee said.

The three executives responded with a joint statement: “Over the course of nearly two decades, 3,000 episodes, and employing over 1,000 staff members, we have strived to create an open, safe, and inclusive work environment. We are truly heartbroken and sorry to learn that even one person in our production family has had a negative experience,” they said. “It’s not who we are and not who we strive to be, and not the mission Ellen has set for us. For the record, the day-to-day responsibility of the Ellen show is completely on us. We take all of this very seriously, and we realize, as many in the world are learning, that we need to do better, are committed to do better, and we will do better.”

After the allegations surfaced, WarnerMedia, the producer of the syndicated talk show, launched an investigation; in the meantime, DeGeneres apologized to her staff in a memo. “On day one of our show, I told everyone in our first meeting that The Ellen DeGeneres Show would be a place of happiness—no one would ever raise their voice, and everyone would be treated with respect,” DeGeneres wrote. “Obviously, something changed, and I am disappointed to learn that this has not been the case. And for that, I am sorry. Anyone who knows me knows it’s the opposite of what I believe and what I hoped for our show.”

But the apology was followed by more salacious headlines. On the same day the memo was leaked to the press, Buzzfeed reported new allegations, this time involving claims of sexual misconduct by Glavin and two other producers, all of which were men. Since those allegations, all three senior staffers have been ousted from their positions.
“We promised you change and a new culture, and we are absolutely committed to that,” Warner Bros. executive David McGuire said in an email to staff sent at the time of Glavin’s exit. “We heard loud and clear that communication needs to be better at every level. The EPs are already taking steps to make our communication more frequent and effective. I hope this note is another way we are showing our commitment to do better.”

But despite the series of allegations, DeGeneres has received an outpouring of support from celebrities like Katy Perry and Kevin Hart. Although the two are not listed as guests in her upcoming new episodes, DeGeneres has been able to secure other big-name celebrities amid the show’s scandal, including Kerry Washington, Chrissy Teigen, Alec Baldwin, Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, and Amy Schumer. First to hit the in-studio session with DeGeneres is comedian and actress Tiffany Haddish (due to COVID-19, the show will not have a live studio audience).

DeGeneres will also have her sidekick Stephen “tWitch” Boss, her longtime DJ, there for support. Boss is expected to serve as a guest host on some episodes. Over the summer, he was named co-executive producer.
“We can’t speak too much legally about it, but I’ll say this, there’s been love,” Boss told Us Weekly in August. “Obviously there’s some things to address, but from my standpoint and from countless others, there’s been love. I’ll just leave it at that until there’s a time where we can address more publicly. There’s been love, and there’ll will continue to be love.”

R. Kelly Denied Release From Jail After Beatdown!
Last week attorneys for R. Kelly desperately filed an emergency motion seeking his release from jail after he was assaulted by another inmate at the Metropolitan Correctional Center where he is awaiting trial on multiple sex crimes in three different states.

The motion has been denied...This week a U.S. District Judge ruled that R. Kelly would have to remain in jail because he poses a flight risk and has a history of intimidating witnesses or paying them to keep quiet.

Kelly is facing up to life in prison if convicted.

Bob Woodward Defends Withholding Donald Trump’s COVID-19 Comments Until Book’s Publication!
As CBS News teased a 60 Minutes interview with Bob Woodward over his bombshell new book Rage, the star investigative journalist defended a lingering question over the timing of some of its biggest revelations.
According to the book, Trump told Woodward on Feb. 7 that the coronavirus posed a much greater and deadly threat than he was letting on in public. Trump went on to downplay the virus, and it was not until March 13 that the White House declared the outbreak a national emergency.
So why didn’t Woodward sound the alarm back then, about what the president knew and when he knew it?

In an interview with The Washington Post‘s Margaret Sullivan, Woodward said during the month of February, there was not a panic over the virus and no calls for Americans to take social distancing or other precautions. He said that “the biggest problem I had, which is always a problem with Trump, is I didn’t know if it was true.”
Woodward told Sullivan that it would be several more months to discern where the president was getting his information. The goal, Woodward said to Sullivan, was to get the bigger picture and to publish before the election.

Authors routinely withhold details until a book’s publication. John Bolton, for example, provided details in his book The Room Where It Happened that would have created a sensation during impeachment proceedings. Woodward is facing questions about his timing in part because of he has an ongoing connection to The Washington Post, where he an associate editor, and because the coronavirus is a crisis like no other, an unprecedented public health emergency.
As CNN and the Post broke the news about the book on Tuesday, Jessica Huseman, a reporter for the investigative site ProPublica, wrote on Twitter, “How differently might Trump’s supporters have acted if — this whole time — they knew that he knew COVID was a serious threat? Woodward could have made that happen in February.”

Wesley Lowery, correspondent for Quibi’s 60 Minutes 60 in 6, wrote, “Woodward‘s best defense is that folks spoke explicitly for a book, thus he didn’t feel comfortable using the reporting in other contexts. An ethical debate worth having. But no need to be incredulous about idea that reporting sooner could have saved lives— it obviously could have.”

Daily journalists did do deep dives into the administration’s coronavirus response, including an April 11 New York Times story, He Could Have Seen What Was Coming: Behind Trump’s Failure On the Virus. It didn’t contain the same revelations as Woodward’s book, but the main thrust of the story was that Trump played down the threat even as many in the administration were identifying the need for urgent action. Like so much else during the Trump years, the story created a stir for a day or two, then faded in the news cycle.
Woodward did not immediately return a request for comment. His publisher, Simon & Schuster, referred to comments he gave to the Associated Press.

Woodward told the AP that in May, when he had verified the information, the virus had already spread throughout the country. “If I had done the story at that time about what he knew in February, that’s not telling us anything we didn’t know,” he said.
Rage will be published on Sept. 15, and it already seems to be standing out amid the wave of Trump-related books that have been landing before the election.

On Wednesday, Woodward’s book was leading national newscasts, Trump addressed it to reporters and his rival Joe Biden delivered blistering criticism at a campaign stop. The book’s revelations may have come too late to change the way Americans respond to the virus, but they could have an impact on how they view the election, with 54 days to go.
