The Latest Cover of Time magazine cover was shot by a Philly 23-year-old without leaving her home!
News about the coronavirus is changing quickly. The latest information can be found at inquirer.com/coronavirus
It’s an image built to become an icon. A sullen and barefoot woman, looking into the camera, with a young man sitting next to her staring deep into his laptop, both lounging on a tiny couch underneath a string of lights and crumpled gold balloons that spell out “2-0-2-0.”
The words GENERATION PANDEMIC are emblazoned on top of them.
The image graces the cover of the early June edition of Time, and was shot by a 23-year-old Drexel University senior, herself a member of that graduating class, who directed the portrait without leaving the Fort Washington home where she’s quarantined.
Hannah Beier has never before had a photo published professionally. She studies photography at Drexel — and is expected to graduate, albeit virtually, in June — and focuses on portraits that evoke the emotions of herself and her friends. She never imagined her first published image would be the cover of one of America’s most iconic magazines.
“It’s not what I imagined it to be, for sure,” Beier said of her senior year of college, “but something so incredible has come out of it.”
In addition to the cover, Time published a handful of similar images Beier created depicting young people quarantined in their homes. One shows a woman on a bed in Philadelphia, her boyfriend sitting behind her wearing big headphones and working on a computer. Another shows a woman in a sparkly jumpsuit, alone in a kitchen with a pink cake in front of her and the words happy birthday hanging above. A third shows two students on a porch, one strumming a guitar and the other lounging in a sweatshirt.
All the images were created over the last month — the cover image was shot within the last week — and Beier didn’t physically push a shutter to capture any of them.
Instead, each image was made through an hours-long process that involved Beier’s interviewing the subjects and then getting a tour of their space via FaceTime. She and each subject conceptualized the image together, and she directed the subject how to pose, how to set up the camera, and what settings to select. Then, the subject placed a phone or laptop behind the camera with FaceTime running, so that Beier could see the frame and get as close as possible to operating the camera herself.
Then they reposed, reframed, and reshot, over and over again. And there were plenty of times Beier wanted to jump through the computer screen and photograph the person herself.
“It’s like, I’ll see something and know how it should look, and I know if I was there I could capture it in two seconds,” she said. “What’s so amazing is, if it takes two seconds or two hours, we still get there. These photos are exactly how I would take them.”
Beier has gone through this process 30 or 40 times since she and her friends began quarantining in their homes. The images are part of her senior thesis, a project that was initially going to be about photographing important relationships in her life, but one that grew into documenting a pandemic.
Earlier this month, Time went on the hunt for photos of the generation graduating this year. One of Beier’s professors sent in her images, and she began working with Time about a week and a half ago, she said.
#RHOA: Kandi Burruss Claims Some Castmates Prepare Reunion ‘Reads’!
“Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kandi Burruss alleges that some of her castmates write what they’re going to say on the series’ reunion shows in advance.
“I do not write down any of my reads . . . That was off the dome,” the 44-year-old told Page Six. “But some of the girls do practice and write down their reads.”
In the most recent reunion episodes, “when Nene [Leakes] got mad and closed her computer, you can see part of her notes in there. I died laughing, because I’ve been saying that for years — that some of the girls have been practicing . . . before coming on the show. People thought that I was exaggerating.”
#MusicNews: SZA Teases Project With Unreleased Music!
While fans eagerly await the follow-up to 2017’s Ctrl, the TDE songstress is playing around with the idea of dropping a bunch of unreleased tracks as part of a “music dump.” Taking to Twitter, she pitched the idea to her millions of followers.
“So like a music dump .. similar to a photo dump but not an album .. this concept make sense to anyone?” she asked. “Has anyone ever done it? Asking for me.”
She envisions it consisting of around 20 unreleased songs from the past six years, not unlike Nas’ Lost Tapes.
She even asked fans to suggest which songs they would like to see. “Okay dead ass THIS IS NOW A COLLECTIVE EFFORT EVERYONE IF U HAVE A SNIPPET IN MIND PLACE IT IN THIS THREAD I DONT REMEMBER ALL OF THEM SO GATHER WHAT U WANT AND ILL SEARCH THE HARDDRIVE TODAY,” said SZA.
And she’s not looking to profit off it either. According to SZA, the proceeds would benefit charity. “Def tryna sell it for charity .. too many ppl hurting to make a dollar rn,” she added.
It’s been three years since SZA released her critically-acclaimed debut Ctrl. She previously announced plans for a deluxe edition, but the window has seemingly come and gone. “It was like a missed text message I felt like too much time passed and it didn’t matter anymore 😩 started something new 🤷🏾♀️ .. i was wrong lol,” she said.
In January, she told fans that her sophomore album would arrive sometime this year. She has been in the studio with BROCKHAMPTON, Jack Antonoff, and Sam Smith, but it’s unclear where those collaborations will land.

Future Humbly Reacts To Surpassing Elvis Presley's Billboard Hot 100 Record
Future has supplanted Elvis Presley on the all-time leaderboard for most Billboard Hot 100 hits — and he’s feeling good about it. The Freebandz celebrated eclipsing “The King” by expressing his gratitude on Tuesday (May 26).
“7 number 1 albums and they mentioning me with ELVIS PRESLEY,” he wrote via Twitter. “Grateful and beyond THANKFUL.”
After 12 songs from his High Off Life album debuted on the Hot 100, Future attained the fourth-most chart entries in Billboard history. Presley and Nicki Minaj were previously tied for fourth with 109 tracks each but were surpassed by Future, who now has 110 charting songs in his discography.
Drake is the current record holder for most Hot 100 entries, leading the way with 222 cuts. The cast of Glee sits at No. 2 with 207 charting songs while Lil Wayne holds down the No. 3 position with 163.
Future’s High Off Life LP not only moved him up the Hot 100’s all-time list but also marked his seventh No. 1 album. The project hit the top spot on the Billboard 200 after selling 153,000 album equivalent units in its first week, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.
High Off Life has already been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), literally earning its certification on the day of its release (May 15). The album’s instant success was thanks in large part to the Drake-assisted single “Life Is Good,” which went platinum four times before the LP even dropped.

NBC Investigation Into Gabrielle Union’s ‘AGT’ Claims Finds No Wrongdoing!
NBC tells Page Six that an investigation into alleged racism on the set of its long-running show “America’s Got Talent” uncovered no wrongdoing.
The network launched the probe after former judge Gabrielle Union, 47, claimed in November last year that, among other things, show insiders complained that her hairstyles were “too black” and it was reported that a young black contestant was removed from the show because it needed a performer that “America could get behind.”
But on Wednesday — the same day that Variety published a lengthy interview with Union about her experience on the show — a rep for the network and the show’s producers told us that a lengthy investigation had cleared the network and its producers.
In a statement the rep said, “When we heard Ms. Union had concerns about her time on the show, we took them extremely seriously.”
The rep indicated that, after the allegations surfaced, the network and producers — Fremantle and Syco — “immediately engaged an outside investigator who conducted more than 30 interviews to review the issues raised by Ms. Union.”
“While the investigation has demonstrated an overall culture of diversity, it has also highlighted some areas in which reporting processes could be improved,” the rep stated.
But the rep added that the investigation has “revealed that no one associated with the show made any insensitive or derogatory remarks about Ms. Union’s appearance, and that neither race nor gender was a contributing factor in the advancement or elimination of contestants at any time.”
Union also claimed in the Variety interview that she’d been let go by the show back in September — along with fellow judge Julianne Hough, 31 — after a season on the show because she’d spoken up about what she called a “toxic environment” on the set.
But the spokesperson said, “The investigation has shown that the concerns raised by Ms. Union had no bearing on the decision not to exercise the option on her contract.”
Meanwhile, in the interview Variety published on Wednesday, Union claimed that judge and series creator Simon Cowell, 60, “poisoned” her by illegally smoking indoors during production.
She told the outlet that on her first day on set in 2019, she was enveloped in a cloud of cigarette smoke — to which she’s been severely allergic her entire life.
Union said that she broached the incident with producers, who said that complaints had been made in the past — but that nothing would be done to rectify it.
When asked to comment, a show source told Page Six that Cowell started smoking outside two days after Union’s initial complaint.
But Union told Variety: “I couldn’t escape. I ended up staying sick for two months straight. It was a cold that lingered, and turned into bronchitis, because I couldn’t shake it. It impacted my voice, which affects my ability to do my job.”
Union said that her constant runny nose upset Mandel — who has been open about his struggles with obsessive-compulsive disorder and germaphobia — who sat next to her. Mandel did not comment to Variety.
“It was challenging to tend to my illness without being made to feel like I’m responsible for my own sickness. It put me in a position from day one where I felt othered. I felt isolated,” she told the magazine, “I felt singled out as being difficult, when I’m asking for basic laws to be followed. I want to come to work and be healthy and safe and listened to.”
Union joined Hough as one of two new judges to replace long-running judges Heidi Klum and Mel B in the spring of 2019.
“I signed up for the experience of being a part of a show that hails itself as the biggest stage in the world. Super diverse, and one about giving people an opportunity to shine where they otherwise probably wouldn’t,” Union said in the Variety interview, adding “What could go wrong?”
But Union, who’s married to NBA pro Dwyane Wade, said she found herself struggling after she discovered a string of alleged problems on the set.
“Do I cave? I didn’t feel like myself; I’m shape-shifting to make myself more palatable. I’m contorting myself into something I don’t recognize. I had to look at myself and say, ‘Do you want to keep it easy? Or do you want to be you, and stand up?’ Because I’m not the only one being poisoned at work,” she said.
Instagram Introduces Ads For IGTV And Announces New Way For Influencers To Monetize Their Live Streams!
Instagram will soon be undergoing some big changes which could see the Facebook-owned service with its most remarkable update yet.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Instagram is introducing some new features that will allow creators to benefit from their posts.
One of the new key features is Instagram running advertisements on InstagramTV. IGTV allows users to post long-form videos that exceed that 60-second limit for regular posts. Instagram announces the money earned on those ads, will be shared with creators.
The other feature will see the platform give “paid badges” during Instagram Live sessions, as a way for fans to directly support their favorite creatives.
This is the first time that the app, which launched in 2010, will allow its creators to monetize their content.
Jim Squires, VP business and media, says that the new changes will allow creators to create “livings.”
“Creators are such an important part of Instagram, so we continue to look at ways of allowing creators to turn their passions into livings on the platform,” Squires told The Hollywood Reporter.
The new update will begin as early as next week.
When users go to watch an IGTV video, they will now have to sit through a vertically-ran 15-second ad.
However, at the beginning of the new updates, only select groups consisting of marketers and creators will have access to the new features.
Sephora, Puma, and IKEA are the companies that will participate in the early rollout. As far as creators go, Avani Gregg and Salice Rose are on board to give it a try.
Creators involved in the testing phase of the update will earn 55 percent of the ad revenue sold around their videos.
For those wondering if the feature will have the option to skip advertisements, Squires insists that Instagram will test different ad experiences, which includes skippable ads.
“We wanted to start with a small group of creators and marketers so we can set the right tone, and we can advise more closely on doing mobile-first immersive creative in this environment, which is very similar to where we started years ago introducing advertising on the platform,” Squires continued.
As for the paid-badges feature for Instagram Lives, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the use of the feature has skyrocketed, and now creators and entertainers will benefit from their time on the platform.
According to Squires, across both Instagram and Facebook, over 800 million users are watching live streams on a daily basis.
In the future, fans will now be able to purchase badges that will allow them to be more seen by the creator. The price of a badge ranges from 99 cents to $4.99.
Users participating during the trial period will receive 100 percent of the revenue earned from their Instagram live, however, a revenue share will be put in place at a later date, the outlet reports.
“There isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach,” Squires added. “Different creators and marketers are going to want to mix and match these things, so the idea is to provide a number of different revenue streams.”

Walt Disney World to reopen its Florida theme parks starting July 11!
ORLANDO — Walt Disney World announced on Wednesday it will begin opening its theme parks on July 11.
Disney presented its plans for reopening after being shuttered along with Florida’s other theme parks since mid-March because of the new coronavirus.
Disney said it will open the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom on July 11. Epcot and Hollywood Studios will open on July 15.
The announced plans are pending approval by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
Disney will use a reservation system to allow guests to register to visit the theme parks. The system will allow Disney to manage capacity and reduce crowds.
Disney World and SeaWorld Orlando presented their reopening proposals for phased reopenings before an Orange County task force on Wednesday. If Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings signs off on them, the plans will be sent to Gov. Ron DeSantis for approval.
With 77,000 workers, Disney World is central Florida’s biggest employer.
Last week, Disney World allowed third-party businesses at its Disney Springs dining and shopping complex to open with new restrictions.
All workers and visitors older than 2 at Disney Springs must wear masks, temperatures are checked at entrances to keep out anyone with a temperature 100.4 degrees (38 degrees Celsius) or higher and a limited number of people are admitted to allow social distancing at the high-end outdoor shopping area with restaurants, movie theaters, a bowling alley and a Cirque du Soleil theater.
Crosstown rival, Universal Orlando, presented its reopening proposal last week to county officials, saying it was aiming to reopen June 5. Officials approved those plans and sent them to the governor. Universal also has opened up its dining and entertainment complex with restrictions similar to Disney Springs.
Earlier this month, Shanghai Disneyland became the first of Disney’s theme park resorts to reopen, with severe limits on the number of visitors allowed in, mandatory masks and temperature checks.
Trey Songz Opens up About Protecting His Family From Instagram Trolls!
In a recent interview with Hip Hop Radio Veteran Devin Steel, Trey Songz got candid about why he decided to keep his family life so private.
The R&B singer is the father to 1-year-old son, Noah, and unlike other celebrities, Trey did not disclose the maternity of his child’s mother until a month ago. Following the celebration of Noah’s first birthday, Trey finally put an end to the mystery and posted a picture of his child’s mother on his Instagram page.
“I am obsessed; we did that, YOU did that! You’re a great mother, and you deal with all the extra’s very gracefully. I’ll always be eternally grateful to you, Noah’s Mumma,” his captioned read. To protect her and Noah from Instagram’s “negative Nancies,” he disabled his comments section, Bossip reports.
As for the interview with Steel, Trey discussed new music, maturing, and what all his fans wanted to know- why he chose to keep his family under wraps.
During the interview, Trey expressed he’s a “very private person,” and it was a huge decision he chose to make. Still, he knew that the overall sense of negativity is winning in the social media atmosphere. The birth of his son was a moment he wanted to experience and protect from public scrutiny.
“As many people love it in a positive sense, it’s gon be negativity. So, it’s really a sense of letting go of the control that you have when you let yourself be that vulnerable. You know, for me, I know my fans are happy for me. I know that in the beginning, it was very much like, ‘Who’s the mother?’ That’s one thing I don’t like about sharing my business.” The moment that you allow a passing comment by someone you do not know to affect you and f*ck up your whole day or have your heart—that’s when you too far gone.”
Trey took time during the interview to reflect on what caused him to take a break from Instagram. Besides the negativity that he and many other public entertainers endure, he mentioned the fact that he would wake up, brush his teeth, and jump right on IG like most of us do. But he knew that’s not how he wanted to spend his time, and although he believes social media is a good way to stay connected, he said it’s also good to take a break to get a greater self-awareness because we don’t see how much we become concerned with others and how unfocused we are on things that matter.
Trey announced his excitement to get back into music and admitted he was not in the right mindset to commit within the past couple of years. But there is something that feels good in him right now, and he wants to help people because he knows music is soothing and healing. “I know my fans miss my voice and miss the music that I do create.”
Ice Cube Cancels ‘GMA’ Appearance In Wake Of George Floyd Death: I’m In No Mood To Tell America Good Morning!
Rapper and actor Ice Cube took to Twitter Thursday (May 28th) to officially cancel an appearance on an episode of Good Morning America. In the tweet, Ice Cube referenced the recent death of Minnesota resident and father of two George Floyd:
I apologize to everyone expecting to see me on Good Morning America today, but after the events in Minnesota with George Floyd I’m in no mood to tell America, good morning.
George Floyd, a 46-year-old restaurant security employee, was arrested by Minneapolis police in response to an incident regarding a counterfeit bill received at a market. The viral video of George Floyd‘s arrest and detainment by police has sparked national outrage as Floyd can be heard pleading for his life.
As a result, many have spoken out regarding the incident, including former NBA star Stephen Jackson who was close with George Floyd:
“Man you know, it’s like – and this gon’ sound f*cked up and I want it to sound f*cked up – I want it to sound f*cked up cause it is f*cked up. You just take my boy life and what we suppose to do? What his family supposed to do? Just move on? Hope you go to jail – hope they punish you for killing my boy? Why we can’t just kill you? That’s the justice we want cause we can’t get nothing back so the cops should die too. Ya’ll just killing people for no reason.”
What do you think about Ice Cube canceling his GMA appearance?

The book claims Clinton visited Maxwell at her Upper East Side townhouse on multiple occasions.
They were also side-by-side at various events in New York City together, including ones held by his own Clinton Foundation.
Bill Clinton became infamously connected with then-22-year old, intern, Monica Lewinsky, after an affair came to light in 1998. He initially denied the claims, but later confirmed the truth.

Because there, whatever life – not just me. Everybody’s life has pressures and disappointments, terrors, fears of whatever.”
He continued, “Things I did to manage my anxieties for years. I’m a different, totally different person than I was, a lot of that stuff 20 years ago. It’s not a defense, it’s an explanation. I feel awful.”
Bill Clinton also revealed how he unveiled the truth to his wife, former First Lady, Hillary Clinton.
“I went and sat on the bed and talked to her. I told her exactly what happened, when it happened. I said, ‘I feel terrible about it. We’ve been through quite a bit in the last few years.’ I said, ‘I have no defense, it’s inexcusable what I did.’”

On Wednesday evening, the reality star posted a photo of her daughter Kensie captioned, “Total mood #behappy #bekind #beyou.”
Kathryn had been silent on Instagram for nearly weeks after she promised to explain everything related to alleged racist messages she sent to a black radio host, Mika Gadsen.
Earlier this month, Kathryn was arguing with Mika about a planned “Trump Boat Parade.” The “Southern Charm” star said she wasn’t racist for supporting President Trump and deicded to send a monkey emoji to Mika.
Mika released the messages telling her followers, “This is what happens when a Black woman in #Charleston speaks up against white supremacy.”
On May 17, Kathryn tried to explain the messages writing, “I use that emoji all the time bc it looks silly and awkward and that’s my baseline. The account was anonymous I didn’t even know who I was messaging??? And now I’ve been labeled all this crazy stuff and it’s just not true. And it’s not fair. And I see now that I’m back on IG that some**** people are thrilled to use this situation to come up on their own. Use for their own benefit.”
Kathryn ended, “But I’m not gonna let that happen. Never have never will. I’m making a full statement tomorrow but I had to respond bc I cannot stand my character being annihilated. Please just be patient and know this shit is just not true.”
The reality star’s new social media post makes it appears she never plans to talk about the racist messages.
