John Varvatos Files for Bankruptcy!
The COVID-19 crisis has pushed prominent apparel-industry names such as Neiman Marcus and J. Crew Group, Inc. into bankruptcy. Recently, another big brand fell victim to COVID-19. The John Varvatos menswear brand filed for voluntary Chapter 11 bankruptcy in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in District of Delaware.
The New York-headquartered John Varvatos Enterprises Inc. runs a handful of boutiques in retail neighborhoods in California and at blue-chip retail centers such as South Coast Plaza and Malibu Country Mart.
Varvatos had more than $140 million in debt, according to a court filing submitted on May 6. The bankruptcy is part of a plan to sell the company to an affiliate of Lion Capital LLP, which runs offices in Los Angeles and London. Lion is an existing Varvatos investor, label founder John Varvatos said in a statement.
“The agreements with Lion represent a critical step in our process to transform our business to drive long-term, sustainable growth,” John Varvatos said. “We have taken decisive action to respond to the challenges that all retailers face in the present environment and we remain extremely confident that our brand, celebrating its 20th year in business, will emerge even stronger. We have a passionate team, a fierce global consumer following and a commitment to our customers, whom we expect to serve for many years to come.”

Yovanna Momplaisir is reportedly joining the cast of “Real Housewives of Atlanta” as an official peach holder next season after admitting her involvement in the “Snakegate” scandal.
Citing close production sources, TMZ reports that Yovanna (aka “That Bitch”) has been invited to sign on to RHOA as a full-time cast member for the upcoming thirteenth season.
As for Yovanna’s role next season … our sources say her main storyline for the upcoming season will piggyback off the scandal that erupted during season 12.
As diehard ‘RHOA’ fans know … the so-called SnakeGate drama roped in the entire cast after the ladies found out Yovanna came on the show as a friend/spy for NeNe, who wanted Yovanna to gather intel to see which of the ladies were trash-talking NeNe behind her back.
The ladies ultimately were led to believe NeNe asked Yovanna to record the conversations. During a trip to Canada, they peppered Yovanna with questions, but she danced around everything.
As it turns out, Yovanna never recorded anything and admits NeNe asked her to record the conversations. The cast’s reaction … “so you’re a snitch?”
The saying is “snitches get stitches,” but in this case … snitches apparently get peaches. And before Marlo Hampton too? While chile, the shade.
Also: If true, this means that it’s possible that one of the current cast members could be replaced (likely either Cynthia or Eva), as RHOA typically only has six peaches up for grabs, though they have went up to seven in previous seasons.
That being said, Yovanna getting a whole peach seems a bit … random. I mean, she’s alright and all, but she doesn’t seem that interesting outside of the “Fakegate” scandal.

Considering the Grammy Award winner’s murky past with Azealia Banks, it wasn’t a matter of if Banks would respond — it was simply a matter of when. That moment came on Monday (May 25) when Banks hopped on Instagram Live to give everyone a piece of her mind, specifically Nicki and Doja who she refers to as a “white bitch.”
“Another thing that I find fucking funny, is Nicki … for all the fucking mouth you have for Cardi B for talking shit about black women, and now you quiet because you got your little number one with this white bitch,” she says. “You a pussy ass bitch. Fuck outta here. You mad pussy… You shoulda got right on that Queen Radio and you put that bitch in the ground where she belongs.
“Put that bitch down in the fucking South African emerald mine where the fuck that white bitch belongs. Now I’m looking back at it, it’s like you were just jealous of Cardi. You just jealous ’cause she’s got more swag than you. You made a whole radio show about how Cardi B is bad for black women.”
But that was only the tip of the iceberg. Banks also insists she once had sex with famed comedian Dave Chappelle and sees no reason to protect his marriage any longer.
“There’s a lot of tea I’ve been wanting to spill about y’all niggas,” she says. “Y’all don’t come to my rescue, like Dave Chappelle, I should ruin your fucking marriage. I should tell the fucking world that we fucked, that we fucked. You got some good dick nigga. Then she goes for Busta Rhymes and claims the Hip Hop legend once touched her former boyfriend’s rear end in a club.

I’m really going to show you what a little shiesty Harlem bitch can do nigga. You remember that nigga Mike I used to go out with and you were touching his ass in the fuckin’ club?

Finally, Banks had some words for Cardi and made it clear her statement about Nicki was in no way, shape or form meant to defend the Invasion Of Privacy artist. But she still wants Nicki to address the Doja debacle on a future episode of Queen Radio.
“I’m not going to sit up here and play you and be like, ‘Oh Cardi’s a better artist’ ’cause the bitch is fuckin’ trash,” she says. “That’s what we all know. You know, that’s what we’ve all found out. We know the bitch has two albums and Atlantic don’t have no incentive to push Cardi B. OK? Doja was accused of being anti-black after an old song called “Dindu Nuffin” resurfaced online along with a video of herself in an incel chatroom. She denied the allegation in an Instagram Story posted on Sunday (May 24).

22-year-old tennis superstar Naomi Osaka is officially the highest-paid female athlete in history.
According to Forbes, the Japanese-Haitian athlete earned a total of $37.4 million USD from prize money and endorsements between June 2019 and May 2020. Osaka is currently backed by 15 endorsement partners ranging from Nissan Motor, Shiseido and Yonex, with almost all of them worth seven figures every year. On top of the wins and endorsements, the tennis star’s new and extremely rare Nike contract — which paid her more than $10 million USD — doesn’t require her to play matches in full Nike apparel, giving her space to sign “patch” deals with All Nippon Airways, MasterCard and Nissin Foods.
Her earnings effectively overthrow Serena Williams, who’s held the title for four years, by $1.4 million USD. Osaka also set a new record for a female athlete’s recorded earnings in a year, surpassing Maria Sharapova‘s $29.7 million USD record in 2015. Social media is outraged by a video showing a white woman in New York City's Central Park threatening to call the cops on a Black man after he asked her to leash her dog. While threats from white people is nothing new to most Black folks, what stands out about this particular incident is that the woman in question seems to know the exact implication of a white woman calling the police on a Black man.

Video posted to Twitter on Monday (May 15) by the man's sister shows the white woman approaching the Black man, who is filming the encounter, telling him, "Please stop, sir I'm asking you to stop recording."
When the man asks her to back away from him, she threatens to call the cops. "I'm going to tell them there's an African American man threatening my life," she says.
The woman, identified as Amy Cooper, VP of Investment Solutions at Franklin Templeton, then continues, "I'm in the Ramble and an African American man with a bicycle helmet, he is recording me and threatening my dog."
After a long pause, she then suddenly gets hysterical. "I'm sorry I can't hear," she cries."I'm being threatened by a man in the Ramble, please send the cops immediately."
Central Park states that dogs must be on a leash from 9am to 9pm in the Ramble - a protected nature reserve between 73rd and 78th Streets. The man who recorded the video is identified as a bird-watcher by his sister, who posted the video to Twitter.
NBA Is In Talks With Disney To Resume Season At ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex!
This may not be a totally lost NBA season. The league started talks with the Walt Disney Company for a possible restart to the 2019-20 season in late July at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Florida, according to an official NBA statement on Saturday (May 23).
The sports complex would serve as a single site for an NBA campus that would host games, practices and housing.
“Our priority continues to be the health and safety of all involved, and we are working with public health experts and government officials on a comprehensive set of guidelines to ensure that appropriate medical protocols and protections are in place,” the league’s communications officer Mike Bass said.
However, this is not a done deal. The NBA players’ union has not weighed in on the possible restart, according to the New York Times. Logistics questions are also unanswered at this point, including whether fans could attend the games.
The league suspended its season after Utah Jazz player Rudy Gobert tested positive for Covid-19 in March. Bass said regular testing will be one of the keys to resuming the season in a safe manner.

Nat Geo Delays Release Of ‘Genius: Aretha’ Until Fall 2020!
Nat Geo has announced that the release of Genius: Aretha starring Cynthia Erivo will be delayed until the fall. The limited series was initially slated to hit the small screen this month, but was delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, the series has been pushed back to an undisclosed date.
Genius: Aretha is billed as a once in a lifetime television event. As the only authorized limited series chronicling the Queen of Soul, the series has garnered the attention of the world at large.
Erivo is set to play the show’s lead role of Aretha Franklin. Joining Erivo, Courtney B. Vance, Rebecca Naomi Jones, Malcolm Barrett and Clifford “T.I.” will appear throughout the series. Ron Howard and Brian Grazer will executive produce the series.
Nat Geo will release an official premiere date for the show in the coming months.
Hundreds Participate In Birthday Parade For 1-Year-Old Who Lost Both His Parents in El Paso Walmart Shooting!
The family of a boy who survived a shooting in a Texas Walmart and lost both his parents, hosted a parade on Saturday to celebrate not only the baby’s first birthday but also his survival.
Paul Gilbert Anchondo was just two months old when his parents died shielding him from a shooter in an El Paso, Texas, Walmart.
The boy, dressed in a royal blue outfit fit for a prince, including a crown with his name on it and a cape, waved to those that passed by.
“We want him to remember that everybody here in the El Paso area and our community is supporting him, that he’s not by himself,” the baby’s grandfather, Gilbert Anchondo, told KVIA.
In the wake of the tragedy, the community came together to celebrate the first birthday of the youngest survivor. As the boys’ family organized the parade, word got out, and more and more people wanted to participate.
Joshua Hernandez, a motorcyclist who participated in the parade, said that baby Paul is a “symbol of the goodness that came out of it because he brought everyone even more so together.”
“Unfortunately, his parents aren’t going to be here to celebrate his birthday with him, so we’re going to step up and make sure he has a great first year birthday,” said Eduardo Prieto, another motorcyclist who participated in the parade told KVIA.
On August 3, 2019, a gunman walked into the Cielo Vista Walmart and killed 23 people. The baby’s father, Andre Anchondo, was shot and killed when he jumped in front of the gunman to protect his family, and his mother, Jordan Anchondo, was shot and killed while shielding baby Paul.
The gunman, Patrick Crusius, remains in custody and has been indicted on 90 federal charges, including hate crimes.
Kevin Hart Says Wife “Held Me Accountable” Following Public Cheating Scandal, Working Through Infidelity “Wasn’t a Walk in the Park”!
Two and half years after Kevin Hart publicly apologized for cheating on his pregnant wife, Hart is sharing how he and wife Eniko Parrish were able to move past his cheating scandal.
Hart recently appeared on The School of Greatness podcast and said that the reason he and his wife are still together is because Parrish—who’s currently pregnant with their second child—was the one fighting for the new family they were building.
“She came to an amazing conclusion of, ‘I like the fact that we have a family, that we have a household, and I like the fact that we now got a job to do to get better…That’s what you owe me. You owe me the get-better.'”
“But it was her understanding that we don’t let the outside world affect our inside, and I credit her for setting that tone,” he added, which, unfortunately, he failed to realize on his own before stepping out on his wife within a year of their marriage.
The comedian said that Parrish “held me accountable” and that the process of working through his infidelity “wasn’t a walk in the park.”
Hart was caught in a public scandal in 2017 when he hooked up with singer/actress Montia Sabbag at a Las Vegas hotel. He was then extorted over their leaked sex tape, which prompted him to publicly admit to and apologize for cheating.
Sabbag also sued Hart for $60 million, claiming that she didn’t know she was being recorded. The case was dismissed for the second time earlier this month, but Sabbag can refile is she wants.
Hart has denied that he had any part in setting up the recording, saying that he was a victim just like Sabbag.
One of Hart’s associates is accused of secretly setting up the camera in the hotel room and was reportedly using the sex tape to extort Hart for money and publicity.
