Nicole Kidman is The Cover Girl for WSJ. Magazine’s May Issue!
Nicole Kidman covers WSJ. Magazine‘s may issue photographed by Bibi Cornejo Borthwick and styled by Elin Svahn.
On her husband: Urban, she says, is her “mellow muso,” using Australian slang for musician—the one guy she’d call in any crisis. “He’s pretty much the flip side of neurotic.” After a chance meeting at an industry event, she says she fell for him when he took her for a ride on his Harley-Davidson to Woodstock, New York, topped off with a picnic in the woods. “I was a goner—I mean, c’mon.”
On not having a lifestyle brand: Kidman is interested only in “storytelling,” as she calls it. “Yeah, I don’t have the energy to have a lifestyle brand,” she says. “I don’t think I have the right lifestyle to have a lifestyle brand because I am not sure what I’d be able to do, you know? I’m probably just a bit daydreamer-y. Keith will say, ‘What are you thinking?’ And I’ll say, ‘Oh, I just went away for an hour, I’m not sure where I went, but boy, it was a great journey.’”
On working with women: “I know how to be with women,” Kidman says. “I was raised pretty much [by women], I had a wonderful father, but the sex in our family is female. I have a sister, I have daughters, I have a very strong mother, I have aunts.” (She and her sister, Antonia Kidman, a television journalist–turned-lawyer, share a secret language, recalls Hugh Grant, who met Kidman in the ’90s. “Acting with her was intimidating,” he says. “You never want to work with someone who is better than you.”)
On choosing her projects: “My taste is really out there. There’s no sense. I’m a complete random nonconformist,” she says. “People are like, ‘What are you doing?’ I’m like, ‘I don’t know what I’m doing.’ I’ll very much go on the record saying I have no idea what I’m doing.”
On the psychological toll her work takes: “Certain things penetrate psychologically in a really deep way. There is just no getting around that, and I wish there was,” she says. “I haven’t been taught it. I have tried to learn it. I don’t have the ability. It does take a toll on my health, and it takes a toll on my spirit,” says Kidman, who copes by writing down her experiences and practicing meditation, taught to her by her psychologist father. “I’m always trying to dig in. The unfortunate part of it is that the feelings are intense. I wish I could be the kind of person that’s like, eh,” she says, shrugging. “I have an unbelievably understanding husband and children—the little ones who are going like, ‘Why are you looking like that, Mummy?’ [But] their ability to understand artistically is very deep already.”
On keeping her relationship and family tight: “I’ll pass on films,” says Kidman, who frequently selects projects in which she has a supporting role or that shoot on the East Coast during months when her younger daughters’ school is not in session. “We have a system worked out to keep the family together,” she says. “When Keith’s not touring, it’s much easier. He’ll be on tour next year, and then I just don’t work as much. Literally—it will become imbalanced, and we will change it. We don’t have the answers, but the one thing we do know is that we will not jeopardize us.”
Sometimes, this means bringing her girls to the set with her. Both had small parts in The Angry Birds Movie 2 and were extras in Big Little Lies. “They are kind of unusual in that they watch the filming, they are in the films. They have a great work ethic,” she says.
What would she say if one of her daughters wanted to be an actor? “I’d get out of their way,” she says.
On showing up for those who have shown up for her: “I had no idea, when things have gone down, the people who have shown up for me. And you are down on your knees, you are like, ‘I’m so vulnerable and so lost right now, and I’m unbelievably grateful for what you have done; you have no idea what you have just done,’” she says. “And by gosh, I’m going to do that—if it’s not for you, it’s for somebody else. Because I know what it means.
On being accountable for her choices: “I try not to analyze things until the end,” Kidman says. “I’ll be on my deathbed going, What? Or my kids will be accountable: What were those choices your mother made?”

#RHOA: Did Porsha Williams & Kenya Moore Expose Each Other at the Reunion?
“Real Housewives of Atlanta” fans have been busy trying to keep up with the latest rumors about the reunion. So far, most of the headlines have been focused on NeNe Leakes. She reportedly had some heated moments with Kenya Moore. However, on social media, she’s been busy going back and forth with Yovanna Momplaisir.
Yovanna reportedly made an appearance at the reunion and said that NeNe pushed her to lie about having “receipts” of Cynthia Bailey dragging NeNe during a conversation. She reportedly said there’s no audio or video and the whole thing was made up so she could get a peach. And it was NeNe’s idea.
However, NeNe released some text messages that seemingly contradicted that over the weekend.
But it’s rumored that this won’t be the only highlight of the reunion. According to the latest gossip, Kenya and Porsha Williams end up exposing each other.
And Kenya reportedly put Cynthia on blast. “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kenya Moore said that she would be exposing some folks at the reunion.
Turns out one of those people may have been Porsha Williams. According to blogger Tamara Tattles, Kenya called Porsha out for being one of the ringleaders of icing NeNe Leakes out of filming. Apparently, Porsha clapped back that Kenya, Kandi Burruss, and Cynthia Bailey did a lot of plotting themselves.
And Porsha said that Kenya was so focused on NeNe that she even “rehearsed” potential arguments she wanted to have with NeNe.
It’s also being said that NeNe took this as proof of her “alliance” theory.
However, Porsha reportedly wasn’t the only one Kenya put on blast. When it comes to the Cookie Lady situation, it’s being reported that Kenya said that Cynthia was actually the mastermind of it all. And they were in on it together.

#HipHopNews: Krayzie Bone & DJ Paul Announce Bone Thugs-N-Harmony Vs. Three 6 Mafia Instagram Live Battle!
Two of Hip Hop’s finest groups are getting in on the Instagram catalog battles. Krayzie Bone of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony announced on Monday (April 27) that he’d be squaring up against Three 6 Mafia‘s DJ Paul this Thursday (April 30).
“This Thursday 5pm Pacific, 8pm Eastern time,” Bone wrote in his caption. “Instagram Live Celebrating over 50 combined years of hits. Limited edition Collab merch available. Share share share, don’t miss this celebration!”
Krayzie Bone and DJ Paul join a long list of high-profile IG Live battles during quarantine. On Monday (April 20), Teddy Riley and Babyface raked in over 500,000 viewers despite sustained technical difficulties. Before that, DJ Premier and RZA treated Hip Hop fans in a battle of the producers, while Lil Jon and T-Pain supplied undeniable classics as well as unreleased material. For now, it sounds like Bone Thugs vs. Three 6 won’t be part of the Verzuz series started by Swizz Beatz and Timbaland.
Three 6 Mafia’s horrorcore sound had a substantial impact on Hip Hop. They went platinum with their 2000 album When The Smoke Clears, and again on 2005’s Most Known Unknown. In recent years, they’ve been sampled by the likes of Cardi B, A$AP Ferg and Rae Sremmurd.
Meanwhile, Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony has been equally remarkable. The group created their own lane with unique melodies, pushing boundaries and inspiring legions of future artists. They’ve appeared with 2Pac, Eazy-E, Big Pun and The Notorious B.I.G. on songs, and have verified classics of their own such as the 2x Platinum “Tha Crossroads.” Not to mention, their legendary E. 1999 album went 4x Platinum.
There’s a Janet Jackson Biopic Rumored to Be in the Works!
It's looking like Janet Jackson could be the next musician to get her own biopic, as a new movie about the legendary singer is reportedly in the works. According to an exclusive report from theJasmineBRAND, planning has begun for a biopic about the life and career of Jackson, and although "details are scarce," the project is said to be getting finalized and auditions have already begun. However, as with every other major motion picture project in development in Hollywood, production on the Janet Jackson Biopic has currently been halted temporarily for the safety of the cast and crew.
A major part of the world-famous Jackson family, Janet is the tenth and youngest child to Joe Jackson and Katherine Esther. As a young child, Jackson performed alongside her siblings for the '70s variety show The Jacksons, leading to other acting roles soon after on shows like Good Times, Diff'rent Strokes, and Fame. When she turned sixteen, Jackson's father Joe arranged a contract for her at A&M Records, further pushing the youngest Jackson on her own path to become an internationally famous music superstar. Her debut album, simply called Janet Jackson, would be released in record stores in 1982.
In the years following Janet Jackson, Jackson continued to pursue a career in music, ultimately becoming a tremendously popular pop star by the late '80s. As her success continued to build, Jackson would end up selling over 100 million records to become one of the all-time highest-selling musical artists. This fame would later lead to her induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which gave her the honors in 2019. Even those who don't listen to Jackson's music are still very familiar with the singer, in part due to the widespread controversy she caused along with Justin Timberlake during their halftime show at the Super Bowl in 2004. All this to say, Jackson has undoubtedly led an interesting life, and there's plenty of material to work with for a biopic.
In recent years, biopics centered on famous musicians like Rocketman and Bohemian Rhapsody have proven themselves to be big hits, both with critics and at the box office. This has likely contributed to the recent announcements of several other biopics in the works, following many famous musicians from years past. This includes upcoming movies about the Bee Gees, Whitney Houston, and David Bowie. Even Jackson's world-famous brother Michael has an all-new biopic in production as well, and wouldn't it be interesting if both of them came out around the same time?
As there's not much else known about the project, it remains a mystery who exactly will be involved in the Janet Jackson biopic. No director has yet been named and it's not clear who's writing the screenplay. No actresses have been listed yet either as possibilities to play Jackson, but now that we know a movie might be on the way, prepare to see fans speculating on social media over who might be a good fit to portray the famous pop star.
Zayn Malik And Gigi Hadid Are Expecting A Baby!
Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid are going to be parents. The singer, 27, and supermodel, 25, are expecting their first child together, according to TMZ.
Gigi is reportedly 20 weeks pregnant. The couple has yet to share the baby news publicly, but both of their families are very excited. It’s unclear if they know the baby’s gender yet.
Gigi recently celebrated her 25th birthday by sharing photos with the former One Direction member and sister Bella at the family’s Pennsylvania farm during the coronavirus lockdown. “Had the sweetest day celebrating my 25th birthday with my quarantine family, who made it so special for me,” said Gigi.
The on-again, off-again couple first started dating in 2015 before splitting in March 2018. After rumors of a reconciliation, they reportedly got back together before the holidays in December.
“She has always loved him and the break between the two was needed,” a source tells E! News. “Zayn has been working on his past music and focusing on his health and is in a really good place currently.”
Gigi penned a sweet note to Zayn in honor of his 25th birthday in January 2018. “love this man more than I could ever put into words, & am inspired by his drive to be and do better everyday,” she wrote, adding, “I’m proud to be by your side.”
Congrats to the couple!
Kanye West Buys His Chicago Childhood Home!
Kanye West is returning to his roots once again. According to WGN9, the Chicago-bred billionaire recently bought his childhood home in the city’s South Shore neighborhood for an estimated $225,000.
The house has a complicated history. Kanye’s mother Donda West originally bought the property in the 1980s. In 2004, she sold it and the house fell into dilapidation amidst foreclosure, as reported by Chicago Business.
Fellow Chicago artist Rhymefest then bought the home in 2017 as part of Donda’s House Inc. The plan was to turn it into an “arts incubator” but talks of demolition arose as it would be more cost-effective than renovating. Neither materialized, as Kanye and Rhymefest had a highly publicized falling out in 2018 and the foundation was rebranded as Art of Culture Inc.
At this point, Kanye’s plans for the home haven’t been disclosed. Permits were taken out last month to renovate the house and Rodkin said Kanye faces $60,000 in repairs.
The news comes on the heels of Forbes Magazine announcing Kanye is officially a billionaire. The business magazine estimated his net worth at $1.3 billion, while Kanye himself is adamant he’s worth $3.3 billion.

Carmen Electra is getting candid about her love life. The 48-year-old Baywatch superstar recalled her relationship with Dennis Rodman in an interview with The LA Times on Sunday (April 26).
“One day when the Bulls had an off day from practicing, Dennis said he had a surprise for me. He blindfolds me and we get on his motorcycle. When he finally takes my blindfold off, we’re standing at the Bulls practice facility, center court,” she explained.
“It was crazy, like two kids in a candy store. We were eating Popsicles from the fridge and pretty much having sex all over the damn place—in the physical therapy room, in the weight room. Obviously on the court…to be honest, I don’t think he’s ever worked out so hard in his life.”
Roy Horn Of Seigfried & Roy Tests Positive For Coronavirus!
Roy Horn, who thrilled Las Vegas crowd as part of the big-cat-trainers act Seigfried & Roy until a tiger attack ended his career in 2003, is the latest celebrity to have tested positive for coronavirus.
In a statement to ABC News, Horn’s publicist said: “We can confirm that Roy Horn has tested positive for the virus that causes COVID-19 and is currently responding well to treatment, Most importantly, Siegfried & Roy send positive wishes to everyone impacted by the pandemic. We will have no further comment on Roy’s recovery at this time and ask everyone to respect his right to privacy.”
Horn and his partner Siegfried Fischbacher already were veteran performers before they became the toast of the Vegas Strip for more than a decade. Launched in 1990 at the Mirage, their show featured Seigfried & Roy performing with spectacular white lions and white tigers as audiences gasped and cheered.
But it unraveled in October 2003, when a white tiger named Mantecore attacked Horn during a performance, ultimately dragging him offstage by the neck. Trainers were able to free Horn, but he suffered career-ending injuries including a stroke, a severed spine and massive blood loss.
After Horn recovered, he and Fischbacher’s act became the basis for a short-lived DreamWorks Animation series created by Jeffrey Katzenberg called Father of the Pride. Narrated by John Goodman, it lasted one season on NBC in 2004-05. David Herman voiced the Horn character.
Seigfried & Roy reunited for a one-off benefit performance in 2009 and last year were featured in a two-hour ABC special called Seigfried & Roy: Behind the Magic.

Disney Casts Niles Fitch As Its First Black Live-Action Prince for ‘Secret Society Of Second-Born Royals’ Movie!
After years of scrutiny for lack of racial diversity, history has been made at Disney! For the first time ever, fans will get to witness a black male portray a prince for the upcoming Disney+ science fantasy film, Secret Society of Second-Born Royals.
Niles Fitch, who notably portrayed Randall on NBC series This Is Us, will now portray Prince Tuma in the forthcoming film. Prince Tuma is characterized as a charming prince with powers that are crucial to the society’s success, but his egotistic demeanor needs a course in compassion.
Secret Society of Second-Born Royals is about second-born teenage royals with unique powers that allow them to keep the world safe. Leading the group of young, powerful royals will be Professor James Morrow, who will be played by Skylar Astin. Like the movie motto “BORN TO DEFEND. THEY JUST HAVE TO LEARN HOW” says, the royals will have to learn the proper way to control their powers through the secret society so that it can be used for good instead of harm.
EW exclusively reported that Secret Society of Second-Born Royals will star Sam played by Peyton Elizabeth Lee, as its lead character. Sam is described as a defiant teen princess who lives in the kingdom of Illyria and in the shadow of her elder sister Princess Elanor, portrayed by Ashley Liao. Unlike Sam, Eleanor is next in line to rule Illyria.
“Sam has always felt like not only is she second born, but she is also second best,” Peyton Lee told EW. “She is struggling to find where she can shine and where she belongs.”
On a more positive note of her character, Lee said:
“Sam is going to be a unique addition to the Disney princess family because she doesn’t want to be a princess; she doesn’t want to be royalty. Because of that, it takes her on this journey of figuring out how to make it work for herself that’s going to break that delicate princess mold. When she finds this secret society that feels the same way, they figure out how to create their own legacy and have an impact on their country and the world.”
According to the exclusive, fans can expect to see Secret Society of Second-Born Royals premiere its streaming on Disney+ this summer. No exact date has been announced by Disney+ as of yet.
Adrienne Barbeau talks rumored ‘Maude’ remake!
Poised to maybe creep up on us is a new “Maude.” Forty years ago that was producer Norman Lear’s TV thing starring Bea Arthur. Brash, outspoken, big with feminists. Adrienne Barbeau plays Bea’s daughter Carol.
Adrienne: “I’d love to be the new Maude. I’m in a new movie ‘For the Love of Jessee’ playing an overbearing mother. And I do voiceovers from the house.
‘Maude’ was all about women’s rights. Seeing Gal Gadot in ‘Wonder Woman,’ I thought it’s an incredible moment to be a woman. Maybe I was an early one fighting the battles. But this is a good time.
“If not me as Maude, then Tracey Ullman comes to mind. I’m impressed with her work. Bea Arthur’s tough to follow, but Tracey could do it.”
‘Orange Is The New Black’ Team Lands ‘Social Distance’ Anthology at Netflix!
Netflix has picked up “Social Distance,” a new anthology series from “Orange is the New Black” production team. The show, produced remotely, will focus on the “new, bizarre, bewildering reality we are all experiencing” in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the producers said in a statement.
“We feel passionate about finding connection as we all remain at a distance,” they wrote in a press release. “We’ve been inspired to create an anthology series that tells stories about the current moment we are living through — the unique, personal, deeply human stories that illustrate how we are living apart, together. We are challenging ourselves to do something new: To create and produce virtually so that our cast and crew can stay healthy and safe.”
Per the producers, director Diego Velasco will helm remotely; showrunner Hilary Weisman Graham runs production from her living room; and the cast will film themselves at home.
Graham, Jenji Kohan, Tara Herrmann, and Blake McCormick will serve as executive producers.
“The experience of social distancing is currently universal, but no individual story is the same. Through a broad spectrum of tales and moments, some seismic and some mundane, we hope to capture a moment in time. And we hope that Social Distance will help people feel closer to one another,” they added in the statement.
Beyond that, Tuesday’s announcement was light on details — including when the show might appear, how many episodes, and what talent has been lined up
R. Kelly's Original Sex Tape Victim Files for Bankruptcy!
Back in 2008 R&B singer R. Kelly was found not guilty on child pornography charges after the alleged victim refused to testify
In an interesting turn of events, apparently the original victim filed for bankruptcy shortly after R. Kelly was arrested on new child pornography charges last year...
From The Blast
R. Kelly’s original alleged underage sex tape victim filed for bankruptcy months after the singer was locked up on new charges.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Kelly’s victim, who we will not be identifying by name, filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy after experiencing recent financial problems.
The victim who was at the center of Kelly’s 2002 criminal investigation was the underage girl featured on the infamous sex tape. A couple of years after the tape was allegedly filmed, police started investigating the singer after being sent a copy of the tape. He would be indicted on 21 counts of child pornography, but the alleged victim refused to talk to law enforcement and went silent....
On July 12, 2019, Kelly was arrested on federal charges relating to child pornography and kidnapping. The victim’s bankruptcy was filed on October 22, 2019 in Illinois federal court.
Based on the timeline; the now 35-year-old victim started having financial issues immediately after Kelly got locked up
