#PRAYERS: Rep. John Lewis to undergo treatment for stage 4 pancreatic cancer!
Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., an icon of the civil rights movement, will undergo treatment for stage 4 pancreatic cancer, his office said Sunday.
He learned of the diagnosis this month, after what Lewis, 79, described as a "routine medical visit and subsequent tests."

"While I am clear-eyed about the prognosis, doctors have told me that recent medical advances have made this type of cancer treatable in many cases, that treatment options are no longer as debilitating as they once were, and that I have a fighting chance," Lewis said in the statement.
Lewis, who represents Georgia's 5th Congressional District, covering most of Atlanta, said he plans to return to Washington "in coming days to continue our work and begin my treatment plan, which will occur over the next several weeks."
Lewis, who was elected to Congress in 1986, referred to the various battles he has faced throughout his career.

"I have been in some kind of fight — for freedom, equality, basic human rights — for nearly my entire life. I have never faced a fight quite like the one I have now," he said.
Lewis received an outpouring of support online from colleagues and two former presidents.
"If there’s one thing I love about @RepJohnLewis, it’s his incomparable will to fight," former President Barack Obama tweeted. "I know he’s got a lot more of that left in him. Praying for you, my friend."

"If there's anyone with the strength and courage to fight this, it's you, John," former President Bill Clinton tweeted on Sunday. "Hillary and I love you, and we join with millions of other Americans in praying for you and your family."

"Praying for my friend and hero @repjohnlewis who has as much bravery and strength as anyone I've ever known," Sen. Chris Coons, D-Del., wrote on Twitter.
Rep. Veronica Escobar, D-Texas, tweeted: "I am so deeply saddened by this news. Knowing and working with him has been one of the greatest blessings of my life in public service. But I also have faith that John Lewis will beat this. He is a warrior like no other. Sending you much love and all my prayers, @repjohnlewis."

Nearly 57,000 people in the United States will have been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2019, according to the American Cancer Society. The disease, which accounts for about 7 percent of all cancer deaths, is more common in men than women, it said.

#RHOA: Cynthia Bailey READS Kenya After She Nearly Ruined Fiance's Proposal Amid Moore's Divorce!
Cynthia Bailey confronted Kenya Moore on The Real Housewives of Atlanta after Moore nearly ruined Mike Hill’s surprise proposal to Bailey.
In the Bravo episode set to air tonight, fans will see how Moore, who is in a divorce drama of her own with husband Marc Daly, was getting in the way of her co-star’s big moment.
On last week’s episode, viewers saw Mike getting down on one knee to propose to Cynthia, 52, in front of her friends and family during her wine business event.

Mike asked Cynthia, “Will you marry me?” She said yes! But before that, Kenya had pointed out that Mike’s family was there, telling Cynthia, “I feel like he might propose tonight. My stomach has butterflies.”
The upcoming episode will show how Cynthia later slammed Kenya over the incident.
Cynthia said to Kenya, “I had a conversation with Mike, because it bothered him. If you knew he was trying to surprise me, why bring that up to me?”

Kenya responded, “I just felt it and you know, we always have conversations about my premonitions on things… and it’s always right.”
But Kandi Burruss told Kenya, “It wasn’t a premonition though.” Kandi told Cynthia, “‘She and I already had a little argument about the situation. Basically, that night, Kenya texted me, and I was just letting her know that she needed to hurry cause I think he’s about to pop the question. So, when she came in….”‘

Cynthia interrupted, noting, “And I responded by saying, ‘I think so, too.’ So, all I said was when I walked in, I was like, ‘I’m excited, I think he’s gonna propose tonight.'”

Kenya said, “You’re making it seem like I somehow ruined her proposal or anything like that. “First of all, just let me say this. I am f***ing happy for you, and don’t ever sit here and try to question why I said this… because b***h right there, I ride for her hard.”
Then another co-star, Porsha Williams, said during a confessional, “If that were my friend that would really make me wonder, ‘Are you really my friend?’ Who would steal someone’s happiness like that? That’s just weird to me.”.

As for Cynthia, she’s said her wedding to fiance Mike will be filmed for RHOA.

#HipHopNews: Cardi B’s Invasion Of Privacy Is Most Streamed Female Rap Album In Spotify History: Report!
Despite not putting out an album in 2019, Cardi B's streaming numbers have been soaring. Her 2018 album, Invasion of Privacy, is now reportedly the most streamed female rap album in Spotify history.

The news was reported by Chart Data on Sunday (Dec. 29), who revealed the album had surpassed 2.8 billion streams. For perspective, Nicki Minaj's The Pinkprint album released in 2014 has 1.8 billion streams. The IOP number is heavily driven by the hit single "I Like It" featuring Bad Bunny and J Balvin, which has 974,657,660 streams by itself as of press time.
Not putting out an album left Cardi with plenty of time to promote Invasion of Privacy on the touring circuit where she raked up. The Grammy-winning rapper believes her success has helped others.

"I feel like after me it's easier for a lot of female rappers," she said in a recent interview. "Before me, there was no female rapper that was signed to a label. Well, you know, the ones that had been established. Nobody was signing them. Now, everybody's just signing them, if you can rap and you got a couple of followers."

After some backlash, she clarified her comments on Twitter. "I didn’t say I pave the way for female rappers but I deff gave the hood and women hope. Nikkas wasn’t collabing with females rappers. Labels where signing female rappers and putting them in a shelf and not focusing on them. Not giving them proper attention," she posted.

Cardi is planning to put out her sophomore album in 2020.

Tina Turner Mural Defaced at Asheville Record Store!
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Employees at a record store in North Carolina say a mural of pop star Tina Turner has been defaced with a red swastika.

The Citizen Times reported Thursday that the mural is outside Static Age Records in downtown Asheville.
Store owner Jesse McSwain said someone unconnected to the store apparently covered the mural in a black sheet before he could address the situation. Static Age called police and the Southern Poverty Law Center.
McSwain said that his store is “a widely inclusive, safe space” and that “hate speech will get you out the door.”

The record store uses its pulldown storefront to honor music legends

Former President Barack Obama reveals his favorite movies of 2019, from 'Little Women' to 'Parasite'
The Golden Globes are a week away and the Oscar nominations have yet to be announced, but we already know who former President Barack Obama’s rooting for.

A day after posting his most-loved books of 2019, the former POTUS shared his personal picks for the year’s best films — and as it happens, he had a hand in the making of one of them. The acclaimed documentary American Factory, the first entry listed on his alphabetized list, was the first film distributed by Higher Ground Productions, his production company with wife Michelle Obama, as part of the couple’s deal with Netflix.
It wasn’t the only documentary on the varied list, which also highlighted the Aretha Franklin concert film Amazing Grace and Apollo 11.
Obama’s picks covered many genres, with the Olivia Wilde-directed comedy Booksmart ranking alongside dramas like The Irishman and Just Mercy as well as foreign language films like Parasite, Ash is Purest White, Altantics, Transit and Birds of Passage. And it’s a good day for Noah Baumbach and Greta Gerwig; the directors and real-life couple each made the list with his Marriage Story and her Little Women.

Obama also shouted out three favorites from the small screen that he “considered as powerful as movies”: Unbelievable, Watchmen and Fleabag. (The first season of that latter pick, incidentally, saw creator and star Phoebe Waller-Bridge taking, ahem, sensual inspiration from an Obama speech.)

#BoxOfficeNews: Stars Wars is still #1 as 'Little Women' is BIG at #2!
Disney's Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker topped the weekend box office for a second weekend in a row, while the weekend's newcomers -- Sony's Little Women and Fox's animated feature Spies in Disguise -- both topped studio expectations as did this weekend's expansion of Uncut Gems, which has now topped $20 million domestically.

With an estimated $72 million, Disney's Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker dipped -59% in its second weekend, pushing the film's domestic gross over $361 million after ten days in release. The drop is much larger than we expected given the past performances of films over the same time frame. It is, however, better than the -67.5% second weekend plunge for The Last Jedi a couple of years ago as it has managed to close the gap between the two films after ten days in theaters.
Internationally, Rise of Skywalker added $94.3 million this weekend for a $363 million overseas cume and a global tally that is now just shy of $725 million. This weekend didn't see any new markets released as the UK still leads all international markets with $51.4 million. Next weekend will see the film open in Vietnam.

Sony's Jumanji: The Next Level landed in second place with an estimated $35.3 million for the three-day, playing more in line with expectations at this time of year, improving +33% compared to last weekend and topping $175 million domestically as it enters its third week in release. Internationally, the film added another $61.6 million, pushing its overseas cume to $296 million for a global tally that now stands at $472 million.

Third is where we find the first of the weekend's new wide releases in Sony's Little Women, the latest retelling of the Louisa May Alcott classic from writer-director Greta Gerwig. The film, which stars Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh and Eliza Scanlen brought in an impressive $29 million over the course of its five-day debut ($16.52m three-day). The performance is well ahead of Sony's extraordinarily low expectations of $16-17 million for the first five days, but does line-up with Mojo's pre-weekend forecast. The film received an "A-" CinemaScore from opening day audiences that saw crowds that were 70% female with 71% of the audience coming in aged 25 or older.

Internationally, Little Women launched in the UK and Spain this weekend, bringing in $4.6 million and $1.6 million respectively for an estimated $6.3 million start. The film will open in Australia and France on January 1 followed by openings in Brazil (Jan 9), Italy (Jan 9), Mexico (Jan 24), Germany (Jan 30) and Russia (Jan 30).

Disney's Frozen II also saw a jump this weekend compared to last, improving +27% with an estimated $16.5 million three-day and a domestic cume that now stands at $421.3 million. Internationally the film added another $42.2 million for an overseas cume totaling nearly $800 million as the global tally now stands at $1.217 billion making it the third largest animated release all-time worldwide, topping Minions ($1.159b).
Rounding out the top five is Fox's animated feature Spies in Disguise, which delivered an estimated $22 million five-day performance ($13.5m three-day) after launching on Christmas Day. The film received an "A-" CinemaScore from opening day audiences while playing to an audience that was 54% female with 40% of the crowd coming in aged 25 or older.

Internationally, Spies in Disguise brought in an estimated $16 million from approximately 51% of the international marketplace for a $38.1 million global debut. Mexico led the way with an estimated $2.3 million opening followed by France ($2.2m), UK ($1.9m), Germany ($1.2m) and Spain ($1m). The film will open in Australia and China next weekend with January launches set for Russia, Kore and Brazil, ending in Japan with a May 22 release.

Tom Cruise Pictured Attending Lady Gaga's 'Enigma' Las Vegas Residency Show!
Who knew Tom Cruise was one of Lady Gaga’s Little Monsters! Gaga was performing her “Jazz & Piano” set as part of her “Enigma” Las Vegas residency on Saturday night (December 28) when a fan spotted a familiar face in the crowd. It was none other than the Mission Impossible star himself, who was enjoying the live performance in the concert’s VIP section at the Park MGM’s Park Theater. “Hanging with Tom Cruise,” the concertgoer captioned the photograph on Instagram, along with video footage of Gaga performing her iconic hit “Just Dance” as she descends from above the crowd using stage props.

In the pic, the 57-year-old, who can be seen wearing a snazzy suit for the occasion, seemed to be taking in the experience with a group of friends.
The Star Is Born singer will be closing out her final 2019 “Enigma” shows on December 30 and on New Year’s Eve. From there, Gaga’s expected to take a break until her years-long residency starts up again from April through May 2020. The songbird initially launched the concert residency in December 2018 before embarking on her “Jazz and Piano” showcase the following month.

Serena Williams And LeBron James Named AP’s Female And Male Athletes Of The Decade!
Tennis phenom Serena Williams and NBA superstar Lebron James were selected by The Associated Press as the Female and Male Athletes of the Decade this weekend after a vote by AP member sports editors and AP beat writers.
Williams has won 12 Grand Slam titles over the past decade, more than any woman has won over the past 10 seasons, made the final at 19 of the 33 majors she competed in and she even won the Australian Open in 2017 while pregnant. Serena boasts 72 singles titles in her career and has won 37 in the past 10 years. In addition to an extraordinary professional decade, Williams returned to the court eight months after giving birth despite multiple medical scares.

“When the history books are written, it could be that the great Serena Williams is the greatest athlete of all time. … I like to call it the ‘Serena Superpowers’ — that champion’s mindset. Irrespective of the adversity and the odds that are facing her, she always believes in herself,” said Stacey Allaster, former CEO of the WTA and current chief executive for professional tennis at the U.S. Tennis Association. “Whether it was health issues; coming back; having a child; almost dying from that — she has endured it all and she is still in championship form,” Allaster continued. “Her records speak for themselves.”

Lebron James’ last decade goes as follows: leaves Cleveland Cavaliers for the Miami Heat and became a champion, went back to his beloved northeast Ohio to deliver on another title promise, left for the Los Angeles Lakers and played in eight straight finals. No NBA player has won more games or MVP awards over the last decade than James. He started a school and married his high school sweetheart, all since 2009.
“You add another 10 years of learning and adversity, pitfalls, good, great, bad, and any smart person who wants to grow will learn from all those experiences,” James said of the award. “A decade ago, I just turned 25. I’m about to be 35 and I’m just in a better (place) in my life and have a better understanding of what I want to get out of life.”

Congratulations to Serena Williams and Lebron James on becoming the Associated Press’ Athletes Of The Decade!

Ice Cube Says Last Friday is ‘Back To The Drawing Board’!
Ice Cube – the creative force behind the funny flick franchise – provided an unexpected update while speaking about the film on Twitter. Cube was asked whether “Friday” was canceled or still a go in light of Witherspoon’s death. Let’s just say his response was quite candid.

“Back to the drawing board since New Line Cinema was slow on green lighting the LAST FRIDAY script that was full of Mr. Jones,” he tweeted. “I’ve been pissed off about it since Spoon passed away.”

“New Line has the rights to distribute that movie,” he responded.
Dang, we don’t blame Ice Cube for being frustrated and pissed off. “Friday After Next” was released 18 years ago and “Last Friday” has been in developmental hell for nearly as long. And now, because of Witherspoons’s passing, is basically slowing the process all over again.

The franchise and Witherspoon’s legacy deserve better.

Wendy Williams’ Estranged Husband License Suspended For Unpaid Tickets!
Although Kevin Hunter has been keeping a low profile since his estranged wife, talk show queen Wendy Williams, filed for divorce earlier this year, that hadn’t stopped the producer from racking up a list of traffic tickets and allegedly, continuing to drive while  his license is suspended.

According to Bossip, Hunter’s license was suspended in October 2019 for parking at an expired meter, but records obtained by the publication show he continued to accrue tickets since then.
In November alone, he was cited three more times for parking violations and was pulled over by New Jersey police as recently as November 25th for a parking violation. Records indicate he missed the December deadline to pay.
Even though his soon to be ex-wife agreed to pay Hunter $250,000 to move out of their marital home back in October, none of the proceeds were used to pay off the parking violations.

Hunter drew public attention earlier this year after being accuse of having a longstanding affair with a young woman who  reportedly gave birth to his baby.

Judge To Temporarily Block Voter ID Law in North Carolina!
Voter ID laws seemingly won’t be coming to North Carolina just yet after a federal judge announced her intentions to issue a temporary injunction as the lawsuit against the state continues to unfold.
According to the News & Observer, Judge Loretta Biggs announced her intentions on Thursday, although her official ruling is scheduled to come next week. Biggs said that as state election officials had been planning “a very large statewide mailing” next week to inform voters of the changes to the ID law, she wanted officials to know that the update will not be necessary after all.

As with any voter ID law that has tried to make its way through the system, there are opponents who argue that the intention is not really to protect votes, but instead to make it harder for Black people and other people of color to cast their votes.
In fact, a previous voter ID law championed by North Carolina Republicans was ruled unconstitutional by a panel of judges for its “discriminatory intent” to “target African-Americans with almost surgical precision,” as the News & Observer notes.

Republicans have since written a new version of the law, which is the one up for question now, adjusting it to be much less restrictive, and leaving out some of the provisions that were identified as being particularly discriminatory.
“To issue an injunction against one of the nation’s most lenient voter ID laws – which 34 states already have – without providing an opinion is an outrageous affront to due process, the rights of North Carolina voters, and the rule of law,” North Carolina House Speaker Tim Moore, a supporter of the new law, said, taking issue with Biggs’ announcement.

Moore has called on state leaders to appeal Biggs’ decision, but it is still unclear how Attorney General Josh Stein, who is a Democrat, will react, with his office signaling that they will wait for the official ruling before making a move.

AND FINALLY FROM “THE CRAZY PEOPLE SHOPPING AT WALMART” FILES
‘CLEARANCE RACK
Honestly, I’ll be honest and say that I’m kind of surprised Walmart hasn’t gotten into the used car market yet. How else are are going to finally live in a world where only Amazon and Walmart rule?
