Time magazine cover responds to mass shootings Across America they said 'Enough.'
Time magazine's latest edition declares "Enough" on its cover, the rest of the front filled with the locations of 253 mass shootings that have taken place so far this year in the U.S.
Inside, the magazine analyzes "how obscenely normalized domestic terror has become" in the wake of two mass shootings last weekend that left 32 dead in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio.
The Time piece reports that 253 mass shootings have occurred in 2019, which are defined as when at least four people other than the shooter were wounded or killed.
"We all have our measures of how obscenely normalized domestic terror has become. At TIME, one is how frequently we have felt compelled to devote our cover to the subject. In my own less than two years in this job, we've run seven of them, from the 2017 massacre at a Las Vegas music festival that killed 58 people to this spring's murder of 50 worshippers at mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand," reads an explanation of the "Enough" cover provided by Time to its readers.
"We do have a choice as a society. Not a perfect choice. Or a guaranteed solution. But doing nothing in the face of repeated mass murder in our society is indefensible," it concludes. "More than 250 mass shootings in the first 220 days of 2019 alone, it's hard to believe that this doesn't go without saying.
"Enough." The President Trump visited Dayton and El Paso Wednesday amid protests with calls for action on gun measures.
"I'm looking to do background checks," the president said Wednesday. "I think background checks are important. I don't want to put guns into the hands of mentally unstable people or people with rage or hate, sick people."
The issue is on newsstands now.

#MusicNews: K. Michelle Announces Fifth Album ‘All Monsters Are Human’
On Monday night, K. Michelle posted a psychedelic video on Instagram has confirmed the title for her fifth studio album, which is slated to arrive later this year. It’s also the follow-up to 2017’s Kimberly: The People I Used to Know.
“We create our own monsters, then fear them for what they show us about our ourselves,” she wrote in her caption. “I could say I hate you, but I’ll just say you made a monster out of me.”
All Monsters Are Human is one of two albums coming from Kimberly. The second album up Kimberly’s sleeve is her long-overdue country record, which is finally in progress. The genre-bending artist has already traveled to Nashville for a couple of recording sessions.

CNN’s Chris Cuomo Caught on Tape Erupting at Heckler Who Called Him ‘Fredo’: ‘I’ll F*cking Ruin Your Sh*t’
CNN anchor Chris Cuomo went nuclear on a guy who called him a derogatory name, threatening to beat his ass.
Chris was in NY Sunday when a guy approached him and called him "Fredo" ... the insulting name of a character in "The Godfather" ... a name that connotes weakness.
Chris is from a proud Italian family and it set him off, challenging the man, threatening ... "I'll f***in' ruin your sh*t. I'll f***in' throw you down these stairs."
Cuomo told the guy ... the name "Fredo" is as offensive to Italians as the n-word is to African Americans.
He's a popular anchor who's made a name for himself as a fair-minded guy, but everything dissolved into abject rage as he scoffed at the guy who claimed -- clearly falsely -- that he thought Chris' name was Fredo.
It escalated even further -- Chris was clearly looking for a fight ... challenging the guy to take a swing at him.

Pamela Long Of Total Warns Cyntoia Brown About Her New Clout-Chasing Husband
And here we go! Pamela Long, formerly of the Bad Boy Records trio, Total, is speaking out about her ex, Jaime Long, and she’s warning Cyntoia Brown about her new “diabolical” husband.
Pam and Jaime, best known as J. Long, tied the knot in 2013 and their divorce was just finalized in February of 2019. So, that means he and Cyntoia have been married for less than 6 months.
In an exclusive with The Neighborhood Talk, Pamela said J. Long is clout chasing for attention by marrying Cyntoia Brown. She went on to ask the Lord to protect the new bride and her money.
This man is diabolical and he is such a manipulator. The way this man pursued this woman is the way he did me.
He came and found me using the same card, ‘He was a Christian artist.’
May the Lord God protect her and her money. It’s about who she is in the public eye and what she has. By her having this face in the media it helps him to have a chance to be around what he deems as the elites.
Mr. Long may be able to hide behind his handsome looks of being a good man, but God knows the heart and exposure is coming.
Pam also noted she is NOT bitter and she wishes them the best.

Philadelphia Orchestra Rescinds Invite for Plácido Domingo to Perform at 2019 Opening Night Concert Due to Sexual Assault allegations!
Plácido Domingo, one of the world's most prolific opera singers, will not perform with the Philadelphia Orchestra in September. In a report to the AP, nine women accused Domingo of sexual harassment over several decades. Domingo called the claims "inaccurate."
The Philadelphia Orchestra rescinded Domingo's invite on Tuesday. They said the organization is committed to providing a safe environment.
Famed opera tenor Plácido Domingo will not perform with the Philadelphia Orchestra for their opening night concert in September, the organization said Tuesday.
The orchestra rescinded Domingo's invitation after an explosive report by The Associated Press where eight singers and a dancer accused the 78-year-old singer and conductor of sexual harassment.
The accusations date back to the 1980s and include accounts of inappropriate touching, unwanted kissing and sexually-suggestive overtures, according to the AP.
In a lengthy statement, Domingo told the AP that the accounts were "inaccurate."
"The allegations from these unnamed individuals dating back as many as thirty years are deeply troubling, and as presented, inaccurate," the statement read in part.
"Still, it is painful to hear that I may have upset anyone or made them feel uncomfortable — no matter how long ago and despite my best intentions. I believed that all of my interactions and relationships were always welcomed and consensual. People who know me or who have worked with me know that I am not someone who would intentionally harm, offend, or embarrass anyone."
Domingo, a Spanish-born superstar, has held more than 4,000 performances around the world — more than any other opera star.
He was set to perform pieces of Italian grand opera under the direction of Philadelphia Orchestra conductor and music director Yannick Nézet-Séguin on Sept. 18, 2019. The concert is the kickoff to the orchestra's 2019 season.
In a short statement, Philadelphia Orchestra spokeswoman Ashley Burke said the orchestra is "committed to providing a safe, supportive, respectful, and appropriate environment for the Orchestra and staff, for collaborating artists and composers, and for our audiences and communities."
Burke said information on changes to the opening night program will be released at a later date.
Verizon is selling Tumblr to WordPress’ owner for a Bargain Basement price!
Verizon has agreed to sell Tumblr to WordPress owner Automattic Inc. for an undisclosed amount, The Wall Street Journal reports.
Verizon, which first acquired Tumblr in 2017 after it purchased Yahoo, started to explore a sale earlier this year. Automattic reportedly bought Tumblr for less than $3 million, according to Axios, a stunning drop in value from the $1.1 billion Yahoo paid for it in 2013.
“Tumblr is a marquee brand that has started movements, allowed for true identities to blossom and become home to many creative communities and fandoms,” Verizon Media CEO Guru Gowrappan said in a statement. “We are proud of what the team has accomplished and are happy to have found the perfect partner in Automattic, whose expertise and track record will unlock new and exciting possibilities for Tumblr and its users.”
Although it makes sense. Tumblr was once a hugely influential force in the blogging and social media sphere, but it become less so under Yahoo and then Verizon’s ownership. Meanwhile, platforms like Instagram, Snapchat, and YouTube moved to fill the void and become much larger cultural forces as a result. Still, Tumblr does have a very active and dedicated community.
That became very apparent to Verizon leadership last year when Verizon decided to ban adult content on the platform back in December. Tumblr acted as a safe haven for many LGBTQ members who used the platform to explore and express their sexuality and to find an online community that shared those interests. The decision to ban all types of adult content led many to boycott the site, and the ban alienated a significant portion of Tumblr’s user base. There are no plans to reverse those decisions, Automattic Inc.’s CEO Matt Mullenweg told the Journal. Instead, Tumblr will act as as a “complementary” site to WordPress.
“It’s just fun,” Mullenweg told the Journal. “We’re not going to change any of that.”
One part of being a complement to WordPress is possibly sharing services and functionality, according to the report. Tumblr has a mobile interface that executives could use to leverage WordPress’ own mobile platform. It’s unclear what other services the two companies may share, but considering both are blogging platforms to some extent, there’s room for experimentation.
David Karp, who founded Tumblr in 2007, left the company in November 2017. He didn’t mention his reasoning at the time, but he wrote in a personal blog that he had faith in the company’s future. “I beg you to understand that my decision comes after months of reflection on my personal ambitions,” Karp wrote at the time, “and at no cost to my hopefulness for Tumblr’s future or the impact I know it can have.”
Wendy Williams & Ex-Kevin Set To Enter In Divorce Settlement!
Talk Show Queen Embroiled In Nasty Split With Former Manager Kevin Hunter
Wendy Williams’ acrimonious divorce from her estranged alleged cheater hubby Kevin Hunter may never see the inside of a courtroom.
A judge last week ordered Williams and her ex Hunter attend divorce settlement talks in the wake of their split. Lawyers for both sides were in family court last week for a status conference, where the judge ordered them to meet to see if they can make a deal.
The settlement meeting is now scheduled for November 2019, according to court papers obtained by the folks at BOSSIP.
At issue is Hunter’s insistence that Williams pay him alimony and both sides wanting their assets split down the middle. Hunter also wants Williams to pay him child support and his lawyer’s fees.
One nugget of good news that came out of the hearing was that both sides reported that they were able to settle custody and parenting time for their son, Kevin Jr., 18, according to court documents.
Williams filed for divorce from her husband of almost 20 years in April 2019, citing irreconcilable differences after Hunter allegedly had a longstanding affair with a masseuse that culminated with her giving birth to their out of wedlock daughter. In his counterclaim, Hunter said the pair had been living apart six months and asked that Williams’ complaint for divorce be thrown out.
Delaware is now the first and only no-kill state for shelter animals in the US
In a watershed moment for animal lovers, America has its first no-kill state: Delaware.
The nonprofit Best Friends Animal Society, which is working with shelters, animal welfare organizations and government agencies across the country to make America a no-kill country by 2025, announced the news at their annual conference in Dallas, Texas.
Linda Torelli, director of marketing for the Brandywine Valley SPCA, which has three locations in Delaware and cares for more than 14,000 animals each year, credited a multipronged approach with helping the First State achieve no-kill status — and its citizens.
“The community in Delaware is very oriented to pet advocacy, so we had their support,” she told TODAY.
Brandywine Valley SPCA implemented numerous programs so that 95% of animals that enter the open-admission shelter find homes. Torelli said because cats are euthanized at twice the rate of dogs, the nonprofit instituted the practice called trap, neuter and return, aka TNR, to save the lives of feral or “community” cats that would otherwise be euthanized. In TNR, advocates humanely trap the felines, and veterinarians spay or neuter them before they are released back into the community.
Open adoptions — which don’t require time-intensive applications that involve things like home inspections but instead focus on matching a pet with a potential adopter’s lifestyle — help move animals more quickly through the shelters.
Reduced fee adoption events have been particularly successful. Brandywine hosts two “mega-adoption events” each year.
“They are weekendlong events where we adopt out over a thousand animals in two days,” Torelli said. “It’s an amazing experience. It’s really something to see.”
No-kill efforts also involve keeping animals out of shelters in the first place. So Brandywine offers free vaccine clinics, a pet pantry and an emergency veterinary fund for families facing financial difficulties. A mobile wellness clinic reaches far-flung folks who might not be able to come to the shelter or a veterinary clinic.
The nonprofit also encourages the next generation to learn about pet care and how to be compassionate with animals by visiting schools and hosting a “Critter Camp” for kids.
Torelli noted a myth persists that shelter pets are broken in some way. But often animals wind up in shelters through no fault of their own: an owner dies and no one in the family can take the pet, someone with allergies moves into the home, or the owner gets sick and moves to a facility that doesn’t allow pets.
“There’s a long list of reasons why great pets end up in shelters,” she said. “I’d encourage people to have an open mind of the kind of animals you’re going to find in a shelter. In most cases, you’re going to find what you’re looking for.”
Holly Sizemore, chief mission officer for Best Friends Animal Society, said Delaware’s achievement is the big step toward creating a no-kill America by 2025 to save the life of every animal who can be saved.
“Back in 2016, Julie Castle, who is now our CEO, put Best Friends’ stake in the ground to lead the country to no-kill by the year 2025, and it was a pretty bold, brave stake to put out there,”
One reason why it was so bold is that the organization — and the country as a whole — needed more data to understand the size and scope of the problem: how many shelters there were, how many animals were coming in, how many were being saved and how many were still dying.
The nonprofit created a master list and spent nearly three years collecting data from every U.S. brick-and-mortar shelter to assess the life-saving status of every shelter, community and state.
Now members of the public have free access to the findings through Best Friends Animal Society’s “community lifesaving dashboard,” a digital tool to quickly check local and national save rates.

“We’ve done testing on this, and if the public knows that animals are still dying in their community, it motivates them to want to help,” Sizemore said.
A community is considered no-kill when every brick-and-mortar shelter serving and/or located in that community has reached a save rate of 90% or higher. There are more than 4,000 no-kill communities across the U.S.
Five states need strong community support to achieve no-kill status. Texas, California, North Carolina, Georgia and Florida account for half of all the animals being killed in the U.S.
Sizemore hopes animal lovers will support their local shelters by fostering, adopting, donating, volunteering, supporting spay/neuter organizations and holding elected officials accountable to make sure shelters get the help they need.
The work of staff and volunteers at rescue organizations across the country and public support have already helped drastically reduce the number of pets dying each year in shelters from an estimated 17 million in the 1980s to now around 733,000 dogs and cats.Photo courtesy of Best Friends Animal Society
Though the goal of making America no-kill by 2025 is ambitious, Sizemore believes it can be done. For instance, in 1984 — when Best Friends was founded — an estimated 17 million animals were dying in shelters. In recent years, the figure dropped to 4 million. Now, 733,000 dogs and cats die each year.
“We absolutely have been able to track the catalyst of change and the speeding up of life saving that’s happening in shelters all across the U.S.,” she said. “I believe the public wants to be a positive part of the solution.”

The heart of the no-kill movement is the golden rule, according to Sizemore. Being kind to animals is a kindness to shelter workers (who, of course, do not want to have to euthanize animals) and to communities as a whole by generating compassion.
“The beautiful thing about this movement is that it is such a nonpartisan issue. It doesn’t matter where you may fall in your political views — everybody loves animals and most everyone understands how valuable the human-animal bond is,” she said. “So I do believe this movement is not only about saving animals’ lives, but it’s kind of redeeming us as people, and showing what kindness does to elevate us all and to just make a better world.”

Nicki Minaj Says She’ll Be Married to Kenneth ‘Zoo’ Petty in ‘About 80 Days’
The countdown is on. Nicki Minaj and boyfriend Kenneth “Zoo” Petty have obtained a marriage license — for the second time!
Nicki Minaj and Kenneth ‘Zoo’ Petty: A Timeline of Their Controversial Relationship
“We filed for the marriage license and we still had to pick it up and I was traveling, by the time I came back, we had to renew it again,” the 36-year-old rapper revealed on Queen Radio on Monday, August 12. “From that time, you have 90 days to get married. That was about a week ago, so now I have about 80 days.”
Minaj added that the twosome will tie the knot before the marriage license expires, but plan to have a bigger reception in the future.
“I have to work on my album and I have a lot to focus on that I don’t want to do the big wedding now. We’ll do the big wedding later,” she explained. “I’ll be married before my album comes out, but will have my wedding after the album comes out. Before the 90 days is over, yes, I will be married. I’m very happy about that because my baby makes me so happy.”
The Grammy nominee confirmed her relationship with Petty, 41, in December 2018. Later that month, Minaj defended her man after fans discovered Petty is a registered sex offender in New York state who was convicted of attempted rape in the first degree in 1995.
“He was 15, she was 16 … in a relationship,” Minaj wrote at the time. “But go awf, Internet. … Y’all can’t run my life. Y’all can’t even run y’all own life. Thank you boo.”
Last month, Minaj slammed trolls who attacked Petty again.
“When a person is with a n—a that loved them before they had a dime in their pocket?” the musician began on Queen Radio on July 26, referring to the fact that she met Petty for the first time when she was a teenager. “How do you not understand that? How do you not understand happiness vs clout? How f–king dare you talk about lowering standards.”
She concluded: “It’s the truth, money cannot buy me happiness and good sex.”
The NCAA Amends New Agent Guidelines After Being Accused of Discrimination
In less than a week after the NCAA announced a set of new rules for agents looking to represent college students thinking of entering the NBA, those guidelines have been amended.
The sudden switch comes after several public figures said the rules were discriminatory.
Because in their initial statement, the NCAA said agents will have to hold a college degree, undergo a background check, have liability insurance, be a member of the National Basketball Players Association for a minimum of three years and take an exam this November.
LeBron James, who’s repped by agent Rich Paul, was one of the first to call out the organization, as did a number of other players.
Paul is one of the NBA’s most prominent agents, and he also reps others in the league like Ben Simmons, Tristan Thompson and Draymond Green, though he didn’t graduate from college.
And because of that, people started calling the guidelines “The Rich Paul Rule,” as to say Paul is a perfect example of an agent without a degree who’s successful, scrupulous and respected.
On Monday the NCAA said they’ll now follow the lead of the National Basketball Players Association as far as degrees go but the rest of the guidelines will remain.
“We are committed to providing student-athletes who are deciding whether to stay in school or explore NBA draft options with access to a wide array of resources to make their decision,” the statement read.
“NCAA member schools developed the new agent certification process to accomplish that goal and reflect our higher education mission.”
“However, we have been made aware of several current agents who have appropriately represented former student-athletes in their professional quest and whom the National Basketball Players Association has granted waivers of its bachelor’s degree requirement,” it continued.
The organization also seemed to address Paul but didn’t mention his name.
“While specific individuals were not considered when developing our process, we respect the NBPA’s determination of qualification and have amended our certification criteria,” read the statement.
Just hours before the change surfaced, Paul wrote an op-ed piece for The Athletic about the rules and said they would only keep certain individuals locked out.
“Requiring a four-year degree accomplishes only one thing: Systematically excluding those who come from a world where college is unrealistic,” he wrote. “Does anyone really believe a four-year degree is what separates an ethical person from a con artist?”
“Let’s also be clear that once the NCAA requires a four-year degree for athletes ‘testing the waters,’ it’s only a matter of time until this idea is socialized, no longer questioned and then more broadly applied.”
“We all know how this works. Unfair policy is introduced incrementally so people accept it because it only affects a small group. Then the unfair policy quietly evolves into institutional policy. I’m not sure what the technical term is for that because I didn’t finish college but I know it when I see it,” he added.
