Maya Angelou once said, “You can’t use up creativity.” Taylor is putting these words to the test. The multihyphenate and entrepreneur not only released her much-adored album K.T.S.E after a four-year delay, but the budding mogul has also launched several ventures, including a nail salon, a fitness program, and an all-female production company.
While Taylor has always been about business since she hit the scene at 15, her grind really increased after the birth of her daughter, Iman Tayla Shumpert Jr., affectionately known as Junie. “Being a mom makes you move differently, think differently and speak differently,” Taylor says. “Once I had Junie, I realized I was living for so much more.”
Being an ambitious boss woman is something Taylor hopes to pass on to 3-year-old Junie. “I’m just teaching her early: ‘You are beautiful, you are smart, you are magic,’ ” she says. Through her relationship with her husband, Taylor is also modeling the power of commitment. “Love is important,” she says.

But in spite of how cute they are together, Taylor and Shumpert aren’t interested in being anybody’s #RelationshipGoals. “I don’t want my supporters to feel like we’re untouchable,” she explains. “I don’t want y’all to think we’re Perfect Pattys, because that’s just not real.” Taylor and Shumpert do find some enjoyment being a positive example of Black love. “I think sometimes it takes other couples to see like, ‘Damn, they were able to talk and get through it. Better safe than sorry. Kenya Moore brought her 8-month-old daughter, Brooklyn, to the emergency room on Wednesday, July 17.
“I wasn’t feeling well so mommy took me to ER last night,” the Real Housewives of Atlanta star, 48, captioned a Thursday, July 18, Instagram upload from her baby’s account. “I’m feeling much better today and mommy took me to a new class.”
The little one was all smiles in a pink onesie in the three new pics. She stood up while holding onto furniture in the first two and sat on a rainbow blanket in the last. It was unclear while she went to the hospital.
The Bravo personality and her husband, Marc Daly, welcomed their daughter early in November 2018. Moore was induced ahead of her due date because the reality star was suffering from a pregnancy condition called preeclampsia.
“Thank God for my miracle baby, my husband and my life,” the former Miss USA captioned her first Instagram upload with her infant after the birth. “When you have faith in Him all things are possible. Happy Thanksgiving from the Dalys. #love #preemie.”

With an estimated $185 million, Disney's The Lion King topped the weekend box office with a record opening weekend for the month of July, topping the previous record held by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 ($169.1m). The debut is the second largest opening of the year so far and seventh largest of all-time. The film's debut in 4,725 locations was also a record and the debut was also the largest ever for a PG-rated film.
Internationally, The Lion King added another $269 million this weekend for an international cume that now stands at $346 million and a global cume totaling $531 million. Technically, this was the film's second weekend internationally after it opened in China last weekend where the picture has already grossed $97.5 million. Beyond that, other top grossing markets include the UK ($19.9m), France ($19.6m), Mexico ($18.7m), Brazil ($17.9m), Korea ($17.7m), Australia ($17.1m), Russia ($16.7m), Germany ($12.3m), India ($9.0m), Spain ($8.4m) and Netherlands ($6m). The film will open in Hong Kong next weekend followed by openings in Japan (Aug 9) and Italy (Aug 21).
#WTF? Comedy Central Pulls Comedian’s Joke About XXtentacion’s Death
A comedian has sparked outrage after joking about XXXTentacion’s death.
Comic Dina Hashem made light of the tragedy during an episode of Comedy Central’s “This Week at the Comedy Cellar.” The distasteful joke was highlighted in a promo clip, which was posted by the network on social media.
“Is anyone still mourning XXXTentacion? Still thinking about him. He’s a rapper who was murdered. He’s dead now,” said Hashem. “He was shot, he was on his way to buy a car with $50,000 in cash and somebody shot him and took the money.”
She continued, “Which is very tragic, but I think also it would be a very good Venmo commercial. That’s the first thing I thought when I heard that. Like, ‘I don’t have Venmo, I should get Venmo.'”
Comedy Central has since deleted the video from Twitter, but not before X’s friends and fans made their distaste loud and clear. “Y’all Take A Look At This Clown,” tweeted Ski Mask The Slump God.
Following the backlash, Hashem issued an apology on Instagram and said that the “joke” was cut from the show. She also turned her Twitter account private in response to outraged X fans.
“I wasn’t trying to hurt anyone’s feelings, that’s never what I want,” she wrote. “I’m a comic and use jokes to try and make dark topics less painful but I realize not everyone feels that way, and I don’t want anyone to feel badly. It was taken down and won’t air on TV.”

Following the success of last year’s Halloween reboot, starring Jamie Lee Curtis, directed by David Gordon Green and written by Green, Jeff Fradley, and Danny McBride, Michael Myers is coming back, not once, but twice. As announced in a short video via original Halloween director John Carpenter’s Twitter, two new Halloween films are slated for the next two years.
Halloween Kills is set to be released on October 16th, 2020, while Halloween Ends is slated for October 15, 2021. Together, the two will form a trilogy of rebooted Halloween films, telling the story of Michael Myers and the ultimate last girl, now all grown up, Laurie Strode.
The announcement itself is minimal—some screaming, the sounds of fighting, the iconic Halloween house burning. And, of course, Laurie Strode, now PTSD-addled and fighting back after her terrible experiences with Michael Myers in the past and present, cocking a shotgun. Turns out, the monster lives, or someone is wearing his mask.
Not much more info is available at this time, though based on the audio in the short teaser video, it seems like Jamie Lee Curtis will be reprising her role as Strode. Prime Minister Stefan Lofven's comments on Saturday came after the intervention of celebrities including Kanye West and Justin Bieber.
Sweden's Prime Minister on Saturday warned that American rapper ASAP Rocky will not be getting special treatment despite President Donald Trump's public intervention into the case.
Trump raised Rocky's detention from the Oval Office and in a Tweet on Friday after First Lady Melania Trump and a number of celebrities asked that he intervene.
On Saturday the president said he had "a very good call" with Prime Minister Stefan Lofven on the subject. He said he told Lofven that Rocky was not a flight risk and "offered to personally vouch for his bail."
Trump added: "Our teams will be talking further, and we agreed to speak again in the next 48 hours!"
The Swedish leader said earlier that he was aware Trump "has a personal interest in the case."
But Lofven said while he would welcome a conversation with Trump, it was not his place to sway the prosecutors or courts.
"I will explain that the Swedish judicial system is independent," he said of a possible call with the president. "In Sweden, everyone is equal before the law, and this includes visitors from other countries."
Prosecutors announced Friday that Rocky will remain in jail while police finish their investigation into a fight in downtown Stockholm.
The rapper, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, 30, was detained on "probable grounds for serious assault" July 3. Stockholm's District Court granted prosecutor Daniel Suneson's request that Rocky should continue to be held in pretrial detention until July 25, the prosecutor's office said in a statement.
Trump said in the Oval Office later Friday that “Many, many members of the African American community have called me, friends of mine, and said, ‘Can you help?’"
The president added: "So, I personally don’t know ASAP Rocky, but I can tell you that he has tremendous support from the African American community in this country and when I say African American I think I can really say from everybody in the country because we’re all one."
Danai Gurira is leaving 'The Walking Dead,' after new season
Actress Danai Gurira on Friday confirmed that she is leaving AMC’s show “The Walking Dead.”
During the San Diego Comic-Con, Gurira said that season 10 will be her last playing the character Michonne in the TV series.
"I can confirm this will be my final season as Michonne on the show," she said on the Friday afternoon panel.
Season 10 of the zombie apocalypse drama is expected to start Oct. 6.
“We're hoping to treat fans to a lot of very cool, meaty stories for Michonne," showrunner Angela Kang told The Hollywood Reporter. "We love Danai."
Gurira, who has been on the show since 2010, said during the panel that her decision to leave was a difficult one, but it came down to a “calling and other things I feel called to … as a creator of work.”
“The Walking Dead family is forever," she tweeted. "The connection between us never ends.”
Gurira played General Okoye in the blockbuster film, "Black Panther," and other Marvel Cinematic Universe movies.
While multiple cast members of "The Walking Dead" have made their exit over the past couple of seasons, the show has announced new additions ahead of the premiere of season 10.
Actress Thora Birch will play a Whisperer named Gamma who is "fiercely protective" and Kevin Carroll will play Virgil, a man who is "desperately trying to get home to his family," show executive producer Gale Anne Hurd said during Comic-Con.
Arsenio Hall Will Officially Reprise His Role In ‘Coming To America 2’
While it has been speculated for months, Deadline can confirm that Arsenio Hall has officially closed his deal to reprise his role as Semmi, the best friend and trusted aide to Eddie Murphy’s Prince Akeem, in Paramount’s Coming To America 2, which Craig Brewer is directing based on a screenplay from Black-ish creator Kenya Barris.
Murphy will return as the pampered prince of Zamunda, who, in the 1988 original, became bored of potential marriage partners in a kingdom and who traveled to Queens New York to go undercover and find a strong-willed woman he could respect.
In the sequel, Akeem learns about a long-lost son and must return to America to meet the unlikely heir to the throne of Zamunda.
Murphy is producing the pic with Kevin Misher, while Barris will serve as executive producers. A theatrical release is planned for December 2020.

Meghan McCain Reveals She Recently Had a 'Horrendous' Miscarriage
Meghan McCain has revealed she suffered a miscarriage a few weeks ago.
In an op-ed for The New York Times Friday, "The View" co-host opened up about her "horrendous" experience of losing her first child.
According to McCain, her doctor confirmed the devasting news while she was at a photo shoot for The New York Times Magazine's cover story about "The View."
"I look back at those pictures now, and I see a woman hiding her shock and sorrow," she continued. "I am posed for the camera, looking stern and strong, representing my fellow conservative women across the country. But inside, I am dying. Inside, my baby is dying."
"I knew I was pregnant before I formally knew I was pregnant," McCain added. "My body told me in all the ways women are familiar with. It told me in the same ways that I was miscarrying. The confirmation from my doctor came the day of that photo shoot, at the worst possible time."
The conservative commentator, who married Ben Domenech in November 2017, said the miscarriage forced her to miss a few days of work. Although she wished it could have remained private, McCain decided to open up about her experience to help end the "stigma" and "cultural taboo" around miscarriages.
"I am not hiding anymore. My miscarriage was a horrendous experience and I would not wish it upon anyone," she wrote.
"Yet for all its horrors, it is distressingly common," she continued. "Estimates range from one in 10 to one in four pregnancies end in miscarriages. That’s about three million lost children in America each year. That is all the more reason women need to be able to speak about this publicly, without the stigma and the lack of knowledge that pervades the issue."
"Because even to this day, the subject of a miscarriage carries so much cultural taboo," McCain added. "Miscarriage is a pain too often unacknowledged. Yet it is real, and what we have lost is real. We feel sorrow and we weep because our babies were real."
McCain explained that she blamed herself for the miscarriage, due to multiple aspects of her lifestyle.
"I blamed myself," she wrote. "Perhaps it was wrong of me to choose to be a professional woman, working in a high-pressure, high-visibility, high-stress field, still bearing the burden of the recent loss of my father and facing on top of that the arrows that come with public life. This is not a complaint. This is reality. I blamed my age, I blamed my personality. I blamed everything and anything a person could think of, and what followed was a deep opening of shame."
However, despite everything, the TV personality said she will never forget her child.
"I had a miscarriage. I loved my baby, and I always will," she explained. "To the end of my days I will remember this child -- and whatever children come will not obscure that. I have love for my child. I have love for all the women who, like me, were briefly in the sisterhood of motherhood, hoping, praying and nursing joy within us, until the day the joy was over."
"You are not alone," she added.
"When my father passed, I took refuge in the hope that someday we would be united in the hereafter," she concluded, referencing her late father, Senator John McCain. "I still imagine that moment, even as I trust that a loving God will see it happen. Now I imagine it a bit differently. There is my father -- and he is holding his granddaughter in his hands."
Miss Michigan Dethroned From Title After Racist Tweets Resurface
The Trump-loving Miss Michigan crown holder, Kathy Zhu, was stripped of her title over what Miss World America believed to be insensitive and racist tweets on her account.
Zhu posted screenshots of the correspondence on Twitter with the caption, “Miss World America’s State/National/Chief Director accused me of being racist, Islamaphobic, and insensitive. They stripped me of my Miss Michigan title due to my refusal to try on a hijab in 2018, my tweet about black on black gun violence, and ‘insensitive’ statistical tweets.”
MWA Michigan state director Laurie DeJack sent an email to Zhu informing her that the group is cutting ties, effectively immediately. The email read, “It has been brought to the attention of Miss World America that your social media accounts contain offensive, insensitive and inappropriate content, and in violation of MWA’s Rules and Conditions, specifically the contestant requirement of ‘being of good character and whose background is not likely to bring into disrepute Miss World America or any person associated with the organisation’.”
The email continued, “Therefore, and effective immediately, MWA does not recognize you as a participant of any sort or in any capacity as it relates to any and all events of MWA. Furthermore, let this communication serve as official notice to remove any mention of yourself as a participant in MWA from all social media platforms (including photographs of you wearing the MWA Michigan sash and/or crown, and any text claiming to be a participant of MWA events).”
Zhu, who is Asian-American, gained notoriety in 2018 after she complained on Twitter about a “Try A Hijab” booth at the University of Michigan. This was the first questionable tweet. “So you’re telling me that it’s now just a fashion accessory and not a religious thing?” she wrote, according to The Orlando Sentinel. “Or are you just trying to get women used to being oppressed under Islam?”
According to Newsweek, Muslim students at the college began a campaign to have Zhu expelled, shortly after. The student manning the booth that day replied, “I invited you to try one on, and you said ‘no thank you…You didn’t take the time to even ask questions or try to understand what Hijab is. That’s ignorant of you. You literally sprinted after taking the photos. That’s pathetic.”
The other problematic tweet was in regards to “black-on-black” violence. Zhu tweeted, “Did you know the majority of black deaths are caused by other blacks? Fix problems within your own community first before blaming others.”
The former Miss Michigan stood by her tweets, replying to DeJack saying, “Statistics and facts are not always pleasant. It’s disgusting how you would rather lie to the public’s face than be supportive of someone that is trying to make a difference by talking about subjects that no one dares to say.”
Zhu did not provide any actual statistics or facts to back up her assertion. When DeJack pointed that out, Zhu replied, “Maybe you should read an educational journal on the statistics of blacks killing blacks. I go to school for this. I’ll save you the chance to lose this political debate.”
In regards to the hijab incident, Zhu said, “What’s ‘insensitive’ is that women in the Middle East are getting stoned to death for refusing to obey their husband’s orders to wear hijabs. I tweeted about it on my social media…Almost everyone was supportive of me refusing to be put in that situation.”
She added, “Are the people in MWA, implying that they advocate for the punishment of women who refuse to wear a hijab?”

Eddie Murphy Announces His Return To Stand-Up, Reportedly Inks $70 Million Netflix Deal
Comedic legend #EddieMurphy opened up about his career in a new clip from Jerry Seinfeld‘s Netflix show ‘Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee.’
“You know that you not doing stand-up drives people crazy… you know that, right?” Seinfeld asked. Murphy said he’s heard that before and mentioned that the late comedian Don Rickles urged him to return to the stage before he passed away.
“I’m going to do it again,” Murphy said. “Everything just has to be right. You have to get up there and start working out. [I] still gotta go to the comedy club.”
Apparently, Murphy kept his word, as he’s reportedly been in talks with Netflix for ‘an undisclosed number of comedy specials,’ said to be paying out approximately $70 million.
Netflix has recently been notorious for paying comedians top dollar for comedy specials, with stars such as Dave Chappell, who reportedly struck a deal of $60 million for three specials, and Chris Rock, who earned close to $40 million for two specials.
Pennsylvania School district warns of foster care for kids whose parents have overdue lunch bills
KINGSTON, Pa. — A Pennsylvania school district is warning that children could end up in foster care if their parents do not pay overdue school lunch bills.
The letters sent recently to about 1,000 parents in Wyoming Valley West School District have led to complaints from parents and a stern rebuke from Luzerne County child welfare authorities.
The district says that it is trying to collect more than $20,000, and that other methods to get parents to pay have not been successful. Four parents owe at least $450 apiece.
The letter claims the unpaid bills could lead to dependency hearings and removal of their children for not providing them with food.
"You can be sent to dependency court for neglecting your child's right to food. The result may be your child being taken from your home and placed in foster care," the letter read.
After complaints, district officials announced they plan to send out a less threatening letter next week.
Luzerne County's manager and child welfare agency director have written the superintendent, insisting the district stop making what they call false claims.
Their letter calls the district's actions troubling and a misrepresentation of how the Children and Youth Services Department and its foster care program operate.
Wyoming Valley West's lawyer, Charles Coslett, said he did not consider the letters to be threatening.
"Hopefully, that gets their attention and it certainly did, didn't it? I mean, if you think about it, you're here this morning because some parents cried foul because he or she doesn't want to pay a debt attributed to feeding their kids. How shameful," Coslett told WYOU-TV.
The district's federal programs director, Joseph Muth, told WNEP-TV the district had considered serving peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to students with delinquent accounts, but received legal advice warning against it.
School district officials say they plan to pursue other legal avenues to get the lunch money, such as filing a district court complaint or placing liens on properties.
For the coming year, the district will qualify for funding to provide free lunches to all students.
The district underwrote free lunches for four elementary and middle schools during the 2018-19 year, and WNEP-TV said school officials suspect some parents did not pay their lunch bills as a form of protest.
A Severe and Dangerous Heat Wave Hits Much Of The East and Central U.S.
NEW YORK (AP) — Americans from Texas to Maine sweated out a steamy Saturday as a heat wave canceled events from festivals to horse races and pushed New York City to order power-saving steps to avoid overtaxing the electrical grid.
The National Weather Service said “a dangerous heat wave” was expected to break record highs in some places, particularly for nighttime. Daytime temperatures were poised to hit the mid- to upper 90s (about 34 to 37 degrees Celsius), with high humidity making it feel considerably hotter.
“It’s brutal,” Jeffrey Glickman said as he paused during a run Saturday in Washington.
The 37-year-old got out early to try to escape the worst heat but still planned to cut his route short on an already 90-degree (32-degree Celsius) morning.
“You just have to power through it the best you can,” he said.
Many places facing excessive heat this weekend have no air conditioning, with cities opening shelters for people to cool off. While the Midwest will get some relief Sunday as a cold front moves in, the East isn’t so lucky, the weather service warned.
In Norwich, Connecticut, Larry Konecny watched as one of his workers a couple of stories up in a boom lift cleaned the outside of an office building. The pair had no choice but to work in 90-degree heat and stifling humidity because the job needed to be done when office workers were away, Konecny said.
“He’s pressure-washing, so the water is splashing. So at least there’s some degree of refreshment,” he said.
New York City authorities canceled a Times Square commemoration of the 1969 moon landing and an outdoor festival featuring soccer star Megan Rapinoe, musician John Legend and “Daily Show” host Trevor Noah.
The city also directed owners of many office buildings to set thermostats no lower than 78 degrees (26 degrees Celsius) through Sunday to reduce strain on the electrical grid.
The measure came after a power outage — related to an equipment failure, not heat — caused a roughly five-hour blackout July 13 that affected a 40-block stretch of Manhattan, including Times Square and Rockefeller Center.
Storms from the Great Lakes to the Central Plains have caused power outages, heightening the misery.
In Michigan’s Lower Peninsula, strong winds, hail and lightning knocked out electricity to more than 200,000 people. The storms left about 20,000 customers without power in Wisconsin, toppling trees as wind gusts reached more than 80 mph.
In Philadelphia, several hundred people were evacuated from a retirement community due to a partial power outage, though it wasn’t immediately clear whether the problem was heat related. Residents were taken to a nearby shelter, and police said some went to a hospital for evaluation.
In Chicago, heat forced organizers of the Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon series to cancel one of three weekend races. Saturday’s 5K is off, but a 10K and half marathon are expected to go ahead Sunday.
In New Jersey, operators of the Monmouth Park horse racing track were considering whether to push back the $1 million Haskell Invitational later in the evening. Maximum Security, the horse that crossed the finish line first in this year’s Kentucky Derby and then was disqualified, was among those scheduled to run.
The track set up misting fans in the paddock and saddling areas for the 14-race card, and there were plans for shorter post parades before the race starts to limit track time for the horses.
Amid pressure over a series of horse deaths in California, several tracks have canceled their Saturday races, including Saratoga Race Course and Finger Lakes in New York and Laurel Park in Maryland.
At Yankee Stadium, where the home team was set to face the Colorado Rockies, extra hydration stations were set up in all three decks and the bleachers. Announcements reminded fans to keep drinking water.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said he was mindful of the heat, too.
“You tend to monitor guys a little more closely, want to see how your pitchers are doing,” he said.
