The Daily Buzz For June 17 ☕📰☕

Jake Gyllenhaal for L'Uomo Vogue - July 2019
Jake Gyllenhaal is punctual for the appointment, calling from his home in New York City. As per his specific request, he kindly but firmly declines to describe his apartment in detail. “I will only tell you that there is a lot of wood and various comfortable chairs. One of those apartments where you want to curl up alone, maybe when you have a high fever. But, in general, it isn’t something I like talking about,” he says, further emphasising his well-known stance on privacy. He has been known to walk away from interviews when journalists have become too aggressive in asking about his tastes or former love interests. Aged 38, he has a view of the world that is earnest and steadfast. He has strong and noble (the Gyllenhaals descend from a family of Swedish aristocrats) ideas about masculinity: “I think being a man means, first and foremost, having an open heart, but, at the same time, a strong mind to protect it.” In New York, the gossip columns talk about his apartment being filled with giant photographs of himself. This began with the New York Post’s Page Six, but he refutes this claim with a loud laugh. “I do like to frame posters from my films. That is true. The rest is ridiculous.” This gallery of important films includes Donnie Darko, Brokeback Mountain, Zodiac and Nightcrawler.
His latest sees him take the role of Mysterio in the new Spider-Man: Far from Home, which comes out in Italy on July 10. One can imagine his apartment as being a men’s club fumed with conversation and cigar smoke. Gyllenhaal actually did smoke cigars for a while but without much conviction. “I was good at playing a smoker, all deep thinking and philosophical, and I had even bought a professional humidor that I never used. I also tried pipes for a while, but, in the end, I realised I prefer not smoking at all.” Also because he runs about ten miles a few times a week, with thin-soled shoes that give the impression of running barefoot. He learned about this style of running from the natural athletes in the Tarahumara tribe in Mexico: “Born to Run, which tells their story and their culture of running, is one of my favourite books.” He then discusses various examples of how he’s tried to keep his own life simple, attempting to find a balance between structure and superstructure.
For example, he sold his motorcycle for pretty much the same reason he gave up Havanas and Montecristos. “The motorcycle makes you take on a ‘pose,’ and I already have to pose for my job. I didn’t want that to also be a part of my life.” In general, he doesn’t consider himself to be a super fan or expert in anything, aside from human behaviour, which he observes with a constant curiosity. “I went around with a Moleskine notebook for a while and took notes as a way to look concentrated and cool. Then I tried with voice memos, which I had seen musician friends use.” In the end, he realised his memory was the best way to “cut and paste” mentally, an idea he got from teachings of some of the best gurus in Hollywood. “If you are open and in a creative space, everything that you introject comes to the surface in the moments you need it. These are the teachings of David Lynch and his book Catching the Big Fish. You need to pay attention to the things that connect us to others, via experience and breathing in. This is the secret of the connection between creativity and meditation, at least how I see it.”

#RHOA: Porsha Williams Opens Up About Fiancé Amid Cheating Rumors: There's Nothing 'I’m Trying To Hide!
Bravo reality television stars Porsha Williams, Karen Huger, and Dr. Jackie Walters stopped by the American Black Film Festival in Miami Thursday to dish all about how hard it may be living and loving while cameras are following your every move.

Williams—who recently welcomed daughter Pilar Jhena, affectionately known as PJ, with her fiancé Dennis McKinley—spoke frankly about her relationship and the importance of protecting it, especially while rumors are swirling.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta star has faced tons of pressure to be transparent amid rumors of McKinley having an affair, but she explained to those in attendance why she’s taking her time before truly speaking out.
“I’m pretty much doing everything in my own time. Not that there’s anything I’m trying to hide or run away from, but if you love someone and you make a mistake or he makes a mistake or whatever’s going on, you gotta make sure that y’all are good at the end of the day,” Williams explained.

“I am on a reality television show and I do pride myself on being transparent on the show,” Williams continued, “but at the same time I’m human and when you’re talking about family, something that you want for a lifetime, you have to protect it.”
Williams went on to explain that despite the rumors, she’ll always love her fiancé because he’s the father of her daughter.

“What I will always do is make sure I protect family,” she said. “He will always be my daughter’s father and I will absolutely love him forever. We absolutely go through our ups and downs together. And I still thank God for the blessing I claimed a year ago.”
She added, “There are still be things in any of us that aren’t perfect, that we have to deal with as a family. But overall I am still thankful to God and I know he is holding both of our hands as long as we stay in prayer.”

Williams and McKinley welcomed their first child together, baby PJ, on March 22. The two became engaged during the last season of Real Housewives of Atlanta.

#Empire: Terrence Howard's Ex-Wife Says She Is Not Surprised He's Under Investigation for Tax Fraud
The ex-wife of "Empire" star Terrence Howard claims he's been sneaky with his money for years and she is not surprised in the slightest that he is now facing allegations of tax evasion.

Howard and his ex, Michelle Howard, have been battling over the million dollars she has been trying to collect from him from a judgment she won in 2013.
Terrence recently filed documents in the case trying to get an upcoming hearing taken off the calendar because Howard is being investigated for tax evasion. He does not want to turn over documents or give any testimony about his finances because it might affect his criminal case.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Michelle Howard believes Terrence is trying to use the investigation "as both a sword and a shield" in his effort to indefinitely continue their legal battle.
She claims Terrence has avoided paying her by taking his "Empire" salary — which she believes to be $30 million for the life of the series — and having it paid through Universal Bridges, the company of his current fiancée, Mira. She claims that company then pays him a small salary.

"While selectively paying those bills which Terrence wanted to pay," Michelle says, "Terrence's stalking horse, Universal Bridges, has selectively avoided those bills which Terrence wanted to dishonor, including the monies in issue in this case and several million owed to the IRS."
She then adds, "Not surprisingly, this has given rise to a criminal investigation of Terrence, Universal Bridges, and Mira for criminal tax evasion."

As reported, Terrence Howard is currently being investigated by the federal government for criminal tax evasion.
The feds are interested in possible financial crimes committed by Howard, his third wife Mira Howard (they got divorced but got re-engaged last December) and Universal Bridges Inc. (a company owned by Mira).

The case stems out of the United States Attorney's Office in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and is still ongoing.

#NewHipHop from Gucci Mane Feat. Meek Mill – ‘Backwards’
Following “Love Thru the Computer” with Justin Bieber, Gucci is ready to heat up the summer with his Meek Mill collaboration “Backwards.” Over the Zaytoven production, the labelmates celebrate their come-up from trappers to rappers.

“I pull up like Chauncey Billups / Ni**a, don’t gas me / I don’t need a fill up,” raps Wizop before Meek takes over. “Shorty say she only f**k trappers / Ended up f**kin’ with a rapper / Damn, bitch, how you go on backwards?” he asks.

The two recorded the song in a penthouse in Miami. “It’s one of the most organic records you can ever make,” Gucci told Ebro on Beats 1. “It feels special. Even when we recorded it, man, just the vibe. Just sitting down talking, man, just you know what we had in our lives, man, that was special. Like two kings, it’s like salute to salute. Like man, you made it. You made it through. I was praying for you, I was rooting for you. I knew this was going to happen.”

Gucci is now gearing up to release his new album Delusions of Grandeur in the next two weeks. “It’s going to surprise a lot of people, man, because it’s a crazy album,” he said. “And this new song right here, it’s the hardest song of the summer. No doubt.”

Chris Brown and Ammika Harris Expecting First Child Together
Congratulations are in order for Chris Brown!
The rapper is expecting his second child with Ammika Harris, according to multiple reports. Their current relationship status is unclear, but outlets are reporting that they are no longer together.
Chris was last linked to the Instagram model Indya Marie.

Neither Chris or Ammika have addressed the pregnancy, but people believe that the rapper has been hinting at the happy news on Instagram for quite some time. On one of the model's Instagram posts from May, Chris commented, "BM Bad," with BM standing for baby mama.
Their baby will join half-sibling Royalty, whose mother is Nia Guzman. According to the star, he finds that being a father is "very humbling" and he clearly dotes on the 5-year-old.
His Instagram is littered with photos of the adorable little girl, who he treated to a full photo shoot in honor of her birthday.

While the star is likely overjoyed about becoming a father for the second time, he is once again embroiled in drama involving his ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran and her boyfriend Victor Cruz.
He took to Instagram on Thursday to express anger over allegedly being hacked by people on Instagram. He claims that these were the people who made insulting comments on Tran's Instagram, not him.

If that's the case, it's good to hear that Karrueche and Chris are both moving on with their lives!

Rachel Dolezal Celebrates Pride By Revealing She’s Bisexual
Rachel Dolezal took to social media to open up about being bisexual. In a post on her Instagram page, Rachel wrote:
Just wanted to take a moment to recognize Pride Month 🌈 I am in absolutely no rush to explore a new relationship, but it still matters to stay visible. My first kiss was with a girl when I was 18.
I am bisexual. Just because I have been married (briefly) to a man or have had children by male partners does not mean I am not bi. Just because I’m bi doesn’t mean I’m confused.
Just because I’m bi doesn’t mean I’m “almost” gay. Just because I’m bi doesn’t mean I’m any less monogamous or into threesomes. I’ve always been attracted to a certain vibe and the body parts present matter less to me than the heart, soul, compatibility & chemistry.
So, don’t ignore or delegitimize the “B” In LGBTQI… It’s a real identity. We are here, and no one’s opinion is going to make me gay or straight or not bi.
So, although I’ve been single & celibate for 4 years and don’t plan to change that any time soon (my life is too complicated & stressful), this is my lil Pride support post to say “press on” and “keep being you” to the bi community & 🏳️‍🌈 #pride #pridemonth#bisexual #notashamedtosay #beyou#youarewhoyouare #iamwhoiam#itsoktosupport #inclusionisntforshow

I guess caring is sharing. Your thoughts on Rachel Dolezal’s post?

#BoxOfficeNews: 'Men in Black' #1 & 'Shaft' #2 at DISAPPOINTING NUMBERS!
It was another disappointing weekend for a pair of new sequels as both Sony's Men in Black International and WB's Shaft were both unable to reach even the slimmest of studio expectations heading into the weekend. The weekend is down significantly compared to last year when Incredibles 2 bowed with a record-shattering $182.6 million opening and next weekend will turn to Pixar once again, looking to Toy Story 4 to turn the tide.

Sony's release of Men in Black International debuted with a disappointing $28.5 million from 4,224 locations. By comparison, this is the lowest opening in the franchise by over $20 million as all three of the previous installments opened with over $51 million. The $110 million production joins a slew of recently released sequels to not only under-perform based on pre-weekend expectations, but severely under-performing based on previous films in the franchise. Entering the weekend the film received mostly negative reviews and opening day audiences gave the film a "B" CinemaScore, which is hardly a ringing endorsement. The film played to an opening weekend crowd that was 56% male with 53% of the overall audience coming in aged 25 or older.

Internationally, Men in Black brought in $73.7 million from 36 markets, giving the film a global debut over $102 million. The studio notes the film is tracking on par with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and 19% behind MIB 3 at current exchange rates for the same group of markets. China led all markets with $26.3 million and a #1 opening followed by Russia ($5.1m), South Korea ($4.9m), Mexico ($3.9m), Japan ($3.5m), UK ($3.4m), Australia ($2.6m) and France ($2.5m). The film opened in approximately 92% of the marketplace with debuts in Belgium (Jun 19), Netherlands (Jun 20) and Italy (Jul 25) remaining.

Finishing in second is Universal and Illumination's The Secret Life of Pets 2, which dipped -49% to begin its second weekend with an estimated $23.8 million three-day and a domestic gross that now totals just over $92 million after ten days in release. Internationally, the film added another $8.5 million this weekend for a global cume that now totals nearly $155 million.
Disney's Aladdin held on well as it enters its fourth weekend in release. The latest Disney live-action reimagining dipped just -32% for an estimated $16.7 million three-day, pushing its domestic cume just shy of $264 million. Internationally the film added another $47.5 million this weekend for an overseas cume that now totals over $461 million and a global tally just shy of $725 million.

Disney's release of Fox's Dark Phoenix cratered in its second weekend, dropping a massive -72.6% for an estimated $9 million three-day and a domestic gross that now tops $51 million. This is the second largest second weekend drop for a film playing in over 3,500 theaters in its second weekend behind only 2015's Fifty Shades of Grey (-73.9%). Additionally, Dark Phoenix earned an estimated $24.2 million in its second weekend of release internationally, raising the overall overseas cume to $152.5 million for a global haul that now tops $204 million.

Rounding out the top five is Paramount's Rocketman, which dipped -36% as it entered its third week in release with an estimated $8.8 million for a domestic cume that now totals over $66 million. The film also added another $8.5 million internationally for a global cume that now tops $133 million.

Finishing outside the top five we find WB's release of Shaft, which the studio was expecting to debut somewhere around $15 million, but it could only muster an estimated $8.3 million from 2,952 locations. That said, while critical response was mixed-to-negative, opening day audiences gave the film an "A" CinemaScore, though with an opening this low the film's fate is most likely sealed. Additionally, the film played to a crowd that was 54% female and 84% of the overall audience came in aged 25 years or older.

Further down the list, in ninth place, is Amazon Studios's Late Night, which expanded into 2,220 locations (+2,216) and delivered an estimated $5.1 million. Amazon acquired the film, which stars Emma Thompson and Mindy Kailing, whom also wrote the screenplay, at this year's Sundance Film Festival for a record $13 million and while this is hardly a great opening, it should have a long life on Amazon's Prime Video platform. Friday's audience gave the film a "B+" CinemaScore.

Jordan Craig Says Tristan Thompson Allegedly Spent Thousands On Khloe Kardashian & Her Family While Ignoring His Son!
According to Jordan Craig, Tristan Thompson spent money on Khloe Kardashian instead of spending thousands on their son, Prince. Even more court documents have been revealed as she took him to court for child support. In new court documents, Thompson spent $65,724.56 under categories called Khloe K., Kendall Jenner, Inc. and Kim K. West. Meanwhile, Craig said she can count on her hands how many times Thompson has since Prince between December 2016 and November 2018.

As for the breakdown of the money, there was a payment of $7,980 on November 6, 2017 for a “birthday gift” for “Kim K. West.” He also dised out $126,890.11 between that timeframe for eating out with celebrities in L.A. He went on to spend $129,000 on expensive items like private jets, luxury cars and designer clothes.

Craig said her concern was that Prince would feel inferior or embarrassed if he didn’t enjoy the same type of life as Kardashian and Thompson’s daughter, True Thompson.
She said in the documents,
“I would like for Prince to just not feel some type of complex. like if he’s playing with his sister and he’s not wearing, like, designer clothes and things — luxury that Tristan can give him that I can’t.”

Prior to her filing for a boost in child support, Tristan was paying $15,000 a month. Craig said she should be getting much more than that. In May he said he would pay $40,000 a month and $200,000 in retroactive child support.
Thompson was previously paying $15,000 per month in child support, but Craig argued that was ‘much less’ than what she should be receiving, per California guidelines.

O.J. Simpson joins Twitter with the message 'Got a little getting even to do'!
Twitter just got a bit more interesting.

O.J. Simpson reacts after learning he was granted parole in 2017 after serving time for a 2007 armed robbery and kidnapping conviction in Nevada.
Just when you thought Twitter couldn't get more bizarre, football icon, actor and former murder suspect O.J. Simpson has joined Twitter. And he has an uneasy message for us.

"Hey Twitter world, this is yours truly. Coming soon to Twitter, you'll get to read all my thoughts and opinions on just about everything," Simpson said in a selfie video posted on Friday night.
But the more ominous moment in the video was when Simpson added with a smile, "It should be a lot of fun. I've got a little getting even to do."
Simpson didn't elaborate on what "getting even" actually meant, but those who know about his notorious murder case might find that comment a bit unsettling.
Simpson joined Twitter just two days after the 25th anniversary of the killings of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman. The trial captured the attention of the world, especially when the famous NFL Hall of Fame member was tried and acquitted by a jury in 1995.

While Simpson's Twitter account has yet to be verified with a blue checkmark like other celebrities, his attorney, Malcolm LaVergne, told CNN the account does belong to Simpson.
"Mr. Simpson is the most positive person I've ever met," LaVergne told CNN on Saturday. "He's also very well informed on current events. He will not be negative. Nor will he comment on the LA thing. It will be one of the best accounts on Twitter to follow."

"The LA thing" that LaVergne is referring to is the June 12, 1994, murders of Nicole and Ron.
While Simpson avoided jail time for the 1994 murders, he was later convicted in Las Vegas for a 2007 robbery and kidnapping after he attempted to steal some of his sports memorabilia from a hotel. Simpson was released from prison in October 2017.

Time will tell what Simpson will reveal on his personal Twitter account, but it should prove to be interesting to say the least.

Tiffany Haddish Cancels Atlanta Comedy Show Over Georgia’s New Abortion Law: ‘I Cannot In Good Faith Perform There!
In an effort to “stand” up against Georgia’s controversial abortion law, Tiffany Haddish has canceled her upcoming comedy show at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta.

According to WSBTV, the actress and comedian is the “first major celebrity to publicly cite the law as a reason she was postponing a live concert in the state.” The law was signed by Gov. Brian Kemp last month, banning abortions in Georgia around six weeks, once a fetal heartbeat is detected.
Haddish wrote in an official statement that she would not be performing in the state until lawmakers “withdraw” the restrictive abortion bill.

“After much deliberation, I am postponing my upcoming show in Atlanta.  I love the state of Georgia, but I need to stand with women and until they withdraw Measure HB481, I cannot in good faith perform there.”
The Fox Theatre said that tickets would be refunded for the show, which was scheduled for June 22.

If the “heartbeat law” is passed, the abortion ban will become effective January 1.

Jay-Z’s Team To Provide Legal Assistance For Phoenix Family After Police Threatened To Shoot Pregnant Mother!
The disgusting video of Phoenix, AZ police overly aggressively confronting Dravon Ames and his pregnant fiancée, Iesha Harper this week has caused a major uproar on social media and has gotten the attention of some major names…to include Jay-Z and his ROC Nation empire.
The video shows an unidentified officer cursing and threatening to shoot a pregnant mother after her 4-year-old daughter took a Barbie doll out of a local Family Dollar store.

Ames and Harper say city cops pointed guns at them while their 1-year-old and 4-year-old daughters watched, and one officer is even heard saying he will shoot Harper in the head.
An anonymous witness reported that the 4-year-old stole a $5 Barbie doll from the store. Ames says police followed them to a nearby apartment complex where the couple intended to drop their daughters off to a sitter, but when Harper, who was in the backseat with her girls, told police the backseat didn’t open, that’s when the officer threatened to shoot her.

Well now, the family has lawyered up on their own, pursuing charges and Jay-Z’s social justice department of Roc Nation, Team ROC, is also assisting the family in taking legal action against the officers involved and the city of Phoenix.
Team ROC is not only providing legal support in the form of hiring high-powered attorney, Alex Spiro pro-bono, but are also calling for the termination of the policers officers involved in the incident. Spiro is seeking charges against one of the police officers for child neglect and also helping with their civil lawsuit against the city of Phoenix, in which they are asking for $10 million in damages.

WATCH HERE

The family accuses the officers of battery, unlawful imprisonment, false arrest, infliction of emotional distress, and violation of civil rights. The $10 million from the City of Phoenix is justified by $2.5 million for each of the four family members. “We’re talking about a little doll that’s worth maybe $5 and the horrors that came from the overreaction to that,” said the family’s attorney, former Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne.

Italian Couple Arrested For George Clooney Clothing Line Scam
An Italian man by the name of Francesco Galdelli and his wife Vanja Goffi were arrested in Thailand Sunday after Galdelli claimed to be George Clooney and sold clothes online, claiming it was a business opened by the actor.

According to Thailand’s Crime Suppression Division, Galdelli claimed he was Clooney and he opened a clothing business. He tricked people into sending him money. Goffi was in on the scam as well. This scam apparently has been in the works for years. Clooney told a Milan court that the couple and another accomplice have been fraudulently using his name to promote the fake clothing line.
This was not the couple’s first scam. Dubbed as the “Italian Bonnie and Clyde”, the two also ran scams that included selling fake Rolexes online. There would be times when they would send packets of salt instead of the luxury watches.

The two have been wanted by Interpol since 2013. There was drone footage of the pair carrying a bag as they were taken into custody from their compound in the Thai town in Pattaya. According to police, they have been in Thailand since 2014.

Cardi B performs in Bathrobe After Her Outfit Rips at Bonnaroo
Ahead of her appearance at Bonnaroo, Cardi B had to bow out of several planned gigs due to plastic surgery. After weeks of worry from ticketholders, the world-famous rapper did indeed make it to the festival stage in Manchester, Tennessee - but still, she faced setbacks.
“I just wanna let y’all know that my outfit rip,” she told her audience, just a few songs into her set. She pressed through for a couple of minutes, then vanished from the stage. After a time-filling singalong of “Old Town Road,” she reemerged — in a white bathrobe.

“We gonna keep it moving, baby,” she said. “We gonna keep it sexy. I don’t know how in this (expletive) robe, but we gonna do it!”
“Keep it moving” was a mantra during her brisk 45-minute set, as a rare female rap star, who’s used to working harder than anyone else in the room - or on a festival lineup.
In all seriousness, she just might be more famous than all three of Bonnaroo’s “headliners” put together.

But on Sunday night - in the final hours of the festival, she found herself on Bonnaroo’s second largest stage.
Needless to say, it was a zoo around “Which” stage, as fans scurried for a vantage point.

Cardi B, her dancers and tireless hype man tore through every hit she’s enjoyed in three short years: “I Like It,” “Money,” and her collaborations with Bruno Mars (“Please Me,” “Finesse”), Maroon 5 (“Girls Like You.”) and closing with her breakout chart-topper “Bodak Yellow.”

Penny Marshall's Former Assistant Comes After Her Estate for Millions
Penny Marshall's former assistant claims she worked him to the bone and made a lot of promises that went unfulfilled, so now he's coming after her estate and believes he is owed over $8 million.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Terry Trahan claims he was Marshall's assistant from January 17, 1994 until Marshall's death on December 17, 2018. He says his job duties included acting as Marshall's personal assistant, home caretaker, physical caretaker, cook, and housekeeper.
He says that during his time working for Marshall, he lived in her guest house and "virtually the entire time of his employment with Marshall, Marshall required Trahan to always be available to be called upon by Marshall for whatever she needed."

Trahan claims Marshall required him to be available 24/7.
"Moreover, during this time period," Trahan claims, "Marshall did not allow Trahan any days off, vacation time, or uninterrupted rest or meal breaks. In fact, on a nightly basis, Marshall would require Trahan's services in the middle of the night, usually several times during the night, to assist her with a variety of tasks, including, but not limited to, bathing her, cleaning her, preparing a meal for her, and doing whatever she wanted at all times of the day, and all hours of every night."
He claims that Marshall was "abrasive, caustic, and abusive" and she often treated him "in a humiliating fashion in private, and in front of third parties."

Trahan claims he discussed his work conditions and the effect it had on him but Marshall "demanded that Trahan not ever leave her employ, said she would retaliate against him if he did, told him how much she loved him, told him how much she needed him, and told him how she could not live without Trahan and the services he was providing her."

He claims Marshall promised that "when she passed away that she was financially providing for him in a sum so that he 'would never have to work again,' and that he would also be left 'enough money to purchase a home.'"
According to Trahan, Marshall planned to name him as a beneficiary in connection with her Director's Guild of America pension/retirement fund and often asked her neighbors if they would sell their home "because she wanted to buy it and told Trahan he ultimately would receive this as his home after her passing."
After Marshall passed away, Trahan claims he learned that Marshall did indeed name him as a beneficiary of her Director's Guild pension/retirement fund but "it had been depleted down to nothing at the time of her death."

Not only that, he claims "she did not leave him funds that would remotely allow him to retire and/or funds to purchase a home of the type promised."
Trahan claims the home Marshall wanted to buy for him was worth $3.2 million and if Marshall intended to take care of him for the rest of his life, he should be paid his salary for the next 23 years ... which would be another $2.3 million.

In addition, Trahan claims he was not paid overtime, rest or meal breaks and believes he is owed $2.6 million for that as well.
Trahan filed two creditor's claims against Marshall's estate totaling $8.1 million.
Marshall passed away in December 2018 from heart failure as a result of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease and diabetes.

Marshall was cremated the day after Christmas, and her remains were given to her sister, Ronnie, presumably to be interred with her brother, who died in 2016.
