She Held up the LIGHT and Got the Victory! Lori Lightfoot Has been elected Chicago's first black female mayor
Lori Lightfoot, a former federal prosector, won Chicago's mayoral election on Tuesday, becoming the city's first black female mayor. Ms. Lightfoot also will be the city’s first openly gay mayor.

She defeated Toni Preckwinkle, Cook County Board president and chair of the Cook County Democratic Party. Lightfoot, 56, is the second woman to be elected mayor of Chicago, after Jane Byrne, who served one term from 1979 to 1983. This was Lightfoot's first run for office, and with her win, Chicago is now the largest city in the U.S. to ever elect an openly gay mayor.

For Chicago, Ms. Lightfoot’s win signaled a notable shift in the mood of voters and a rejection of an entrenched political culture that has more often rewarded insiders and dismissed unknowns. For many voters, the notion that someone with no political ties might become mayor of Chicago seemed an eye-opening counterpoint to a decades-old, often-repeated mantra about this city’s political order: “We don’t want nobody nobody sent.”

For some of Ms. Lightfoot’s supporters, the significance of her victory was monumental, going beyond a single candidate or city. “Look, nothing personal, but it’s not the good old boys club anymore,” said Kimberly Smith, 40, who was born and raised on the South Side and said she thought the election marked a turning point in Chicago politics. “I feel empowered.”
National advocates for gay rights celebrated Ms. Lightfoot’s win. “Now young queer women and women of color can see themselves reflected in a position of major political leadership,” said Stephanie Sandberg, executive director of LPAC, an organization that works to build the political power of L.G.B.T.Q. women.

In September, Mayor Rahm Emanuel said he would not seek a third term, and Lightfoot and Preckwinkle beat out 12 other candidates in February's first-round election.

The Suspect in the killing of rapper Nipsey Hussle, has been arrested!
Los Angeles police have arrested a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of rapper Nipsey Hussle that left two others injured.
The suspect, identified as Eric Holder, 29, of Los Angeles, was taken into custody in Bellflower, a city in southeast Los Angeles County.
Sources told NBC News that Holder was taken into custody after someone reported a sighting of an individual matching his description.

Police have said that Holder was seen Sunday afternoon walking up to Hussle and the two other men and firing shots at them in the parking lot of the rapper's The Marathon Clothing store in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Los Angeles.
Hussle, whose real name was Ermias Asghedom, was pronounced dead at a hospital from gunshot wounds to his head and torso, authorities said. He was 33.

The two men injured in the shooting were not identified. One of them was also taken to the hospital, and the other man refused medical treatment, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police Chief Michel Moore said at a news conference Tuesday that Holder, a suspected gang member, and Hussle knew each other and that the two men got into a personal dispute before the shooting.
Holder allegedly approached Hussle and the other men several times at the clothing store before engaging in a conversation with the rapper, the police chief said, declining to say what the conversation was about. Holder then left the store, returned with a gun and opened fire.

Officers said Holder fled through an adjacent alley after opening fire and got into a waiting vehicle driven by an unidentified female.

Hussle grew up in the Crenshaw neighborhood of South Los Angeles. He and two co-owners opened Marathon Clothing in June 2017 as a "smartstore," complete with a smartphone app on which fans could purchase exclusive products.
The rapper released his debut studio album — "Victory Lap" — in 2018. It was nominated for best rap album at this year's Grammy Awards.

He was a beloved figure in both the hip-hop community and his neighborhood, and his death brought a wave of tributes from fellow musicians, politicians and athletes such as Pharrell Williams, Drake, LeBron James, Issa Rae and Rep. Karen Bass, D-Calif.

#RHOA: Kenya Moore Responds to NeNe Leakes SHADE for Asking If She's Pregnant with a Buffalo!
Kenya Moore thinks NeNe Leakes is "nasty" and "rude" for making a joke about her being pregnant with a heavily built wild ox.
The former "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star made a cameo on Sunday's explosive season finale, where NeNe fired off insult after insult at her former co-star, loud enough so that everyone within earshot could hear her. At one point, NeNe asked Kandi Burruss, "She's going to have a buffalo, isn't she?" At the time, Kenya kept her cool, but she took to Twitter after the episode aired.
"Say my name, say my name," Kenya tweeted. "'I'm having a buffalo,' 'I'm going into labor' -- I'm pregnant! What's her excuse? So nasty, so rude."

Kenya also backed both Cynthia Bailey and Kandi's claim that Cynthia did not know Kenya would be coming to her party. NeNe's never gotten along with Kenya and felt Cynthia owed her a heads up, but Cynthia maintained she didn't know Kandi would be bringing her.
In a lengthy video Cynthia and Kandi shared immediately after the episode aired, Kandi explained she got a call from Kenya right as she pulled up to the party. Kandi said she ended up waiting an extra 30 minutes so that Kenya wouldn't walk in alone.

And regarding all those sketchy, behind-the-scenes moments cameras caught of Cynthia trying to cover up her tracks, Cynthia claimed she always knew Kenya's presence was a possibility but didn't feel she owed NeNe that information.
"I never told Cynthia that Kenya was gonna come," Kandi tweeted after the episode aired. "I told her that I was gonna try to get her there. Kenya didn't even give me a definite answer that she was coming until I pulled up at the party."

"#FACTS," Kenya replied to Kandi's tweet. In addition to retweeting fans in support of her comeback, Kenya also retweeted the following message: "A grown-ass woman has to explain to another grown-ass woman why she invited another grown-ass woman to her party. Did I get that right?" Yes. Yes, you did.

But NeNe was also doing some retweeting of her own, including this message: "Sooooo, Cynthia could have warned NeNe because she clearly knew Kenya would be there. Idk, that is a lil shady."
She also retweeted a fan suggesting that if NeNe had brought Phaedra Parks to the party, all hell would've broken loose.

NeNe's emotions have been all over the place this season, mostly because her husband's cancer battle has affected her marriage in ways she didn't anticipate. After watching the emotional final scene in which she and Cynthia seemingly patched things up, NeNe tweeted out, "YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THIS BROKE ME! I WILL NEVER BE OK! NEVER!"
"So much has happened that you don't get to see!" she continued. "Thank God they showed this [conversation with Cynthia] and gave me a little rope! I'm broken! My sisterhood was real REAL!"
The two are no longer friends. From the moment Kenya arrived at Cynthia's party, NeNe gave her the cold shoulder. "Oh, I think a monster's here. Girl, I could care less," she said when she saw everyone fawning over Kenya. "I know she wants to be here really bad, so..."
Kenya walked in with a tight, red, lace-up dress. "Kenya, I did not expect you to be wearing this dress at nine months!" Porsha Williams said excitedly.

"Me either, honey," NeNe scoffed. "Oh, my God. Doesn't she look amazing?! She looks amazing, honey. That body is beat, honey." As Kenya said her hellos, NeNe made faces behind her. "The thirst is all the way real, honey!"

Then her partner in shade, Marlo Hampton, showed up. "Oh, wait, I didn't even see Kenya!" Marlo shouted as she pretended to put her finger down her throat. "Kenya, I didn't even notice you! You look beautiful!"

"Ain't she cute?!" NeNe added sarcastically. "Too cute!" Marlo shouted back.

It was painfully uncomfortable. At the end of the night, Kandi and NeNe were standing by the exit when Kenya made her way to the door. She stopped and gave Kandi a kiss, saying, "I'm leaving, honey!" That's when NeNe started loudly yelling, "Goodnight! Goodnight, Kenya! Goodnight! She going into labor!" Kenya tried to walk away, but Kandi pulled her back.
"She was saying goodnight," Kandi said to Kenya in an effort to make NeNe look good. Kenya smiled and looked at Gregg Leakes. "Speedy recovery, Gregg," she said. "You're always in my prayers." That's when NeNe made the buffalo comment.

This should be an interesting reunion!

"The Real Housewives of Atlanta" three-part reunion begins Sunday, April 7 at 8 p.m. on Bravo.

#Empire: Is Lucious about to CHEAT on Cookie, AGAIN?
Bad timing strikes again! Cookie walks in on what looks like Lucious well on his way to hooking up with another woman; given that this comes shortly after she learned that he had an illegitimate son with another woman, it's understandable why Cookie might not be inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt in the heat of the moment. If the editing of the trailer is to be believed, the incident will drive her to Damon Cross, who looks more than a little pleased with himself.

How this plays out remains to be seen. Tune in to Fox on Wednesday, April 3 at 8 p.m. ET for the next episode of Empire in the 2019 midseason lineup.

#HipHopNews: 19 Injured AT At a Memorial Vigil Held For Nipsey Hussle After Stampede Breaks Out!
There was a stampede at a memorial vigil held for Nipsey Hussle Monday evening. At the Tuesday press conference, Michel Moore said that someone in the crowd who was armed either brandished or displayed a gun, and that another person attempted to disarm him to protect the crowd.

Moore posted on Twitter Monday night that 13 people sustained injuries as attendees fled; 12 were treated onsite. Multiple news outlets later reported that, per the Los Angeles Fire Department, at least 19 people were injured. Most of those were injured by falls, sprains and being cut by glass; Moore said that some in the crowd were throwing glass at the police. One person was reportedly stabbed.

Eric Holder is wanted for Homicide in the shooting of Nipsey Hussle. He was last seen in a 2016 white 4 door Chevy Cruze CA license plate 7RJD742. Anyone with information related to his whereabouts or this deadly shooting is urged to contact South Bureau Homicide at 323-786-5100
The chaos in the crowd was frightening. "Tonight was the first night in a while that I honestly felt scared on the job," ABC7 reporter Veronica Miracle wrote on Twitter. "Babies were screaming, people were shoving themselves under our @ABC7 news van for cover while crying, people were trampled. My heart hurts for everyone who came here to mourn @NipseyHussle's death."
Chief Moore also posted on Sunday evening that Nipsey Hussle's death was one of 26 shootings and 10 homicides that have occurred in Los Angeles in the week since March 24.

"That's 36 families left picking up the pieces," Moore wrote on Twitter. "We will work aggressively with our community to quell this senseless loss of life."

Wendy Williams is weighing the option of Leaving her Husband Kevin Hunter?
Rumors circulated days ago that Kevin Hunter's longtime alleged mistress Sherina "Nicki" Hudson welcomed a baby, whose birth certificate reportedly does not have Kevin's name on it.  But, we all know the deal.  According to telephone recordings where Sherina spoke on the phone as a patient at the hospital, she checked in to the maternity ward at a hospital in Pennsylvania, likely to stay off the New York paparazzi's radar.

Kevin nor Wendy has addressed this new baby, but interestingly enough, Wendy's 2001 memoir may say it all.  the talk show mogul said almost 20 years ago that she would only leave her husband under certain circumstances.  Wendy wrote that Kevin cheated on her back then causing her to hire a P.I. and setting rules for what she will deal with in the future.

In Wendy's Got The Heat, Wendy said she caught Kevin cheating while he ws talking to a woman (pre-Sherina) on the phone in the middle of the night.

“In those forty-five seconds my woman’s intuition kicked in and I knew he was on the phone with a lover,” she revealed.

“No woman deserves this,” she wrote. “I wanted to kill him. I mean really kill him. For real. I wanted to kill him more because I was in the process of breaking my Number One Rule: No Cheating.”

Her rules from that point on:
“The only thing that would make me walk out for good is if he lied about anything – if he was in love, if she was just as successful at what she does as I am in my career, if she had his baby,” Williams wrote.
And here we are.  If the Page Six reports are true, Wendy's OUT.  Or at least trying to be.  And honestly, it's for the best for her sobriety and health.

Now sources say Williams and Hunter are exploring what a separation would look like, even though he remains her long-time manager. They are both partners in Wendy Williams Productions, the company that produces her popular daytime show.
A source told us: “There is a discussion about what happens now — everyone is asking, ‘How can they possibly stay together?’ Wendy still loves Kevin, but her health is at stake.
“They are so tangled up together in business, so they are carefully looking at what a separation could entail. It will be difficult.”

Girl, just figure that ish out.  And quickly.  We do hear Kevin was on the set daily with Wendy after she returned.  Now, she's on a "pre-planned" one week break.  We'll see if here's ther when she returns.

Justin Bieber Apologizes for April Fools Prank Claiming Hailey Bieber Was Pregnant
Justin Bieber is issuing an apology and an explanation for his April Fool’s Day prank insisting that his wife Hailey was pregnant with their first child.

“there’s always gonna be people offended, there’s also people who don’t take jokes very well, I am a prankster and it was APRIL FOOLS. I didn’t at all mean to be insensitive to people who can’t have children. A lot of people I know, their first go to prank on April fools is telling their parents they are pregnant to get a big reaction,” Justin wrote in a message to fans on his Instagram.

He continued, “But I will apologize anyway and take responsibility and say sorry to people who were offended. I truly don’t want anyone to be hurt by a prank.. it’s like when I shoved cake in my little sisters face for her birthday expecting her to laugh but she cried. You sometimes just don’t know what will hurt someone’s feelings not to compare pregnancy with cake in the face but it’s just to paint the picture of not knowing what will offend. Some might have laughed but some were offended .. I think With pranks u sometimes have to roll that dice. #prankster #dennisthemenace #sorry #truly.”

LOL!

Taylor Swift’s Alleged Stalker Facing Prison Time for Breaking Into Her Apartment
The man who allegedly tried to break into Taylor Swift‘s apartment is now facing two to four years behind bars after cutting a plea deal.
Roger Alvarado pled to criminal contempt, reports Page Six, and agreed to an order of protection in exchange for his sentence. He will be sentenced later this month.

Alvardo allegedly swiped a ladder from a construction site and used it to climb up the side of Swift’s Manhattan apartment building. He then smashed a glass door, which was observed on camera by Swift’s security detail, who called 911.
This was the second time Alvardo broke into the home. He served six months behind bars for doing the same thing in 2018. The second incident took place one month after his release.

Swift recently settled a lawsuit over the purchase of the home Alvarado is accused of breaking into.
As first reported, big-time real estate company Douglas Elliman sued Taylor Swift’s Firefly Entertainment, claiming they got screwed out of the commission when Swift purchased the New York townhouse in 2017.
They claimed Swift “wrongfully excluded” them from the $18 million sale and sued for $1,080,000 in the unpaid commission they believe they are owed.

A federal court judge ruled in January that Swift had no obligation to pay commission to the agent.

Jennifer Lopez Sued for $6.5 Million for Allegedly Stealing Idea for ‘World of Dance’
Jennifer Lopez is being sued by a man who claims he came up with the idea for “World of Dance” 10 years ago and now he’s after a huge payday for his trouble.
Alvin Gray-El filed a federal lawsuit this week against J.Lo, NBC and famed choreographer Debbie Allen (even though she has nothing to do with the show).
According to court documents obtained by website The Blast, Gray-El claims he came up with the idea for a show called “Let’s Start the Dance” back in 2009. He claims to have faxed a letter to Debbie Allen and her production company in an effort to see if she was interested in producing the show.

Gray-El claims never heard back. In 2010, Gray-El claims he had the show registered with the U.S. Copyright Office.
Fast forward to 2017, when Gray-El claims he discovered “World of Dance” was in the works at NBC. He says he tried to contact NBC to notify them of the copyright infringement but says he never heard back.
Gray-El never explains how he feels his idea got from Allen to Lopez and/or NBC.

He is asking for $5 million in actual damages and $1.5 million in punitive damages.

See a First Look at RuPaul’s New Daytime Talk Show!
RuPaul Charles began his career in drag in the club scene in the late '80s, before growing to become the most commercially successful drag queen of all time
Over 20 years after his groundbreaking VH1 talk show ended, RuPaul Charles is getting another shot at hosting his own chat program — this time on network television.

The iconic drag performer, 58, will host a new daytime television talk show for Fox, the network announced Tuesday.

Aptly titled RuPaul, the show will air Monday through Friday for a limited three-week run beginning June 10, and will be broadcast on select Fox stations including WNYW Fox-5 in New York and KTTV Fox-11 in LA.

WATCH HERE

“Now more than ever before we need a global voice that will help everyday people navigate this unique time in history,” Charles said in a statement. “Not only do I want to be a part of that conversation, I want to help facilitate it.”
Viewers can expect to see RuPaul’s “distinctive voice, exceptional interview skills, passion for helping others” on display in the show, according to a release.

“Entertaining and heartfelt in everything he does, the show will feature Charles’ modern take on the talk format,” the network says. “He will showcase his aspirational message with celebrity and newsmaker interviews, along with empowering everyday people to become their best selves. His sense of beauty, make-up and style will make the runway work for everyone. Charles’ 20-plus years interviewing and coaching along with his own evolution in music, fashion, style and media will inspire audiences daily.”
He, of course, hosts, judges and executive produces RuPaul’s Drag Race, the acclaimed drag queen reality competition series to find the “America’s next drag superstar,” for which he has won two outstanding reality show host Emmy awards (in 2016 and 2018). The show, which also picked up an Emmy for outstanding competition reality series in 2018 and airs on VH1, is currently in its 11th season and has produced four seasons of an all-star edition (titled RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars).

A British offering is debuting next year. RuPaul will host, judge and executive produce that as well.

In addition to his drag appearances, books, and related album releases, Charles is also a judge on CBS’s The World’s Best. He and friend Michelle Visage co-host a weekly podcast called RuPaul: What’s The Tee?, too.
Charles — who married his partner of 25 years, Georges LeBar, in 2017 —  began his career as RuPaul in the club scene in the late ’80s, before growing to become the most commercially successful drag queen of all time.

His first talk show, The RuPaul Show, debuted on VH1 in 1996, making Charles the first openly gay host of a national television program in the United States. Throughout it’s two-season run, the show produced over 100 episodes featuring celebrity guests, including (most notably) Charles’ idol, Diana Ross.
Meanwhile, Charles’ new show RuPaul won’t be the only show running in local Fox stations. The network is also known for airing The Wendy Williams Show and The Real in syndication.

Céline Dion, 51, Is the new face of L’Oréal Paris
Céline Dion is worth it. The singer, 51, was just announced as the new global ambassador for L’Oréal Paris, her first-ever beauty contract.

“I’m in shock, actually. I never, never expected something like this,” Dion told People. “I never really felt confident beauty-wise. [But now], I’ve never felt as beautiful, as strong, and I really think that the best is yet to come.”
As for her newfound confidence, Dion told Elle she wants to spread the wealth. “I am now embracing myself and feel free to do what I want, where I want, when I want,” she said.

The pop icon, whose Las Vegas residency will come to an end in June, also spoke about the effect of body-shaming trolls; following the death of her husband René Angélil in January 2016, many have criticized Dion for her noticeably slimmer frame.

“Dancing has been in my DNA all of my life,” Dion told People, attributing the weight loss to her ballet routine, which she practices four times a week with backup dancer Pepe Muñoz. “People say, ‘She’s a lot thinner,’ but I’m working hard. I like to move and [weight loss] comes with it.”

Dion dropped a hint about her upcoming partnership when she sported a sweater with “I’m Worth It,” L’Oréal’s tagline, in Paris in January.
L’Oréal has been embracing older celebrity ambassadors lately; other faces of the brand include Jane Fonda, 81, Julianne Moore, 58, and Andie MacDowell, 60. Meanwhile, Naomi Campbell recently booked her first-ever beauty campaign with Nars at the age of 48.

Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty pulls ‘Geisha Chic’ highlighter amid backlash
Following criticism surrounding one of Rihanna’s latest Fenty Beauty launches, the brand has pulled the offending product from its lineup.
Last week, Fenty Beauty announced a new line of bronzers and highlighter shades: Mo’ Hunny/Afternoon Snack, #PENNY4UTHOTS and Geisha Chic. The latter immediately sparked controversy online, with fans saying that the red color and name fetishizes Japanese culture.

One Reddit user who commented on the brand’s Instagram page calling out the product name received a direct message. “We hear you, we’ve pulled the product until it can be renamed. We wanted to personally apologize. Thank you so much for educating us,” it said.

Some fans pointed out that this isn’t the first time Rihanna’s been accused of cultural appropriation; her “Princess of China” music video, in which the singer portrays a heavily costumed Asian stereotype, received similar blowback.
But according to watchdog Instagram account Estée Laundry, which posted about the highlighter snafu and the brand’s immediate response, many customers seemed satisfied with Fenty Beauty’s decision to pull and rename the product before it hits shelves on April 5.
“I wish more brands responded like this. Props to Fenty for listening and doing something about it,” one person DM’d the account, according to Estée Laundry’s Instagram Stories. “Fenty swallowed their pride and that is something admirable.”

Candace Cameron Bure Shows Support for Lori Loughlin Amid College Admissions Scandal
Lori Loughlin has a loyal friend in Candace Cameron Bure. As the college admissions scandal continues to make headlines across the country, many are quick to criticize and judge those at the center of the controversy.
But when appearing on Today's fourth hour with Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb, Candace decided to address the stories surrounding her Fuller House co-star.

"It's too personal to us," she shared while sitting next to Jodie Sweetin. "We'd never want to talk about someone that is a dear and close friend. But I think I've already said that we are family and we stand by each other and pray for each other and we'll always be there for each other."

Candace's words come after the Fuller House cast attended the 2019 Kids' Choice Awards where they accepted the award for Favorite Funny TV Show.
When receiving Nickelodeon's orange blimp, Candace may have addressed their co-star without naming names.

Candace Cameron-Bure, Lori LoughlinDavid Livingston/Getty Images
"Where there's a lot of heart, there's a lot of love and a loving family sticks together no matter what," she shared at the family-friendly event. "They stick together through the hard times, they support each other, they encourage one another, they pray for each other and they stand by their side no matter how tough it gets."

She added, "And a loving family that also sticks together, also celebrates the really good times."
Back in March, about 50 people including Lori and her husband Mossimo Giannulli were indicted in what federal authorities have called a scheme to help rich Americans get their children into elite universities.

Until their next court date tomorrow, the famous couple has been keeping a low profile in Southern California.
