The Daily Buzz For March 4 ☕πŸ“°☕

Brie Larson & Samuel L Jackson for Entertainment Weekly - 8th March 2019
Samuel L. Jackson Wouldn't Give Advice to Brie Larson Ahead of Filming. Samuel L. Jackson has been working in Hollywood for more than 45 years, but that does not mean he is here to provide advice, especially to Academy Award winners.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Captain Marvel stars, Jackson and Brie Larson, answered questions about their time working together. EW asked if Jackson had given Larson any advice about joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and she claims he did not.
“No, he won’t give me advice! I even asked him,” she replied. "He asked to go to dinner with me the night before I was leaving to go to the [2016] Oscars, and I thought he was gonna give me some sage wisdom. At the end of dinner, he had said nothing about it, and I was like, ‘Well, aren’t you gonna tell me some piece of advice?’ He’s like, ‘No. Are you gonna give me advice?’ I’m like, ‘No.’ He was like, ‘You’re fine. Enjoy it.’ It was the same thing with [Captain Marvel].”

Turns out, Larson would go on the win that Oscar for Room, so she clearly had this whole career thing under control. Jackson claims he did embark some wisdom on the actress, however.

“Yeah, I have this memory of saying to you, ‘Well, things will get a bit different just because of the crazy nature of what this whole thing is,’” he replied.
That’s pretty good advice! If you think about the many Marvel Cinematic Universe actors who were famous before they joined the MCU, they’d probably all tell you the movies brought their fame to a whole new level. If Jackson says it, you know it’s true.
Whether or not they have advice to give each other, Jackson and Larson have appeared to enjoy their time working together. In fact, this isn’t their first time. They both appeared in Kong: Skull Island and Unicorn Store in 2017. If you go way back, you’ll discover they also both lent their voices to Bob Saget’s March of the Penguins spoof, Farce of the Penguins in 2007. Jackson and Larson also presented at the Academy Awards together on Sunday.

In addition to Larson and Jackson, Captain Marvel stars Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou (Korath), Lee Pace (Ronan), Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan (Minn-Erva), Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace, Kenneth Mitchell (Joseph Danvers), with Clark Gregg (Phil Coulson), and Jude Law.

Captain Marvel is being released on March 8th. Other upcoming MCU movies include Avengers: Endgame on April 26th, and Spider-Man: Far From Home on July 5th.

#RHoA: WHAT? #TEAMTWIRL, Kenya Moore Claims She Was Kicked Out Of A Restaurant For Changing Her Daughter Brooklyn's Diaper
The former 'RHOA' said she was 'embarrassed' over the alleged situation.
Kenya Moore claimed that she was kicked out of a restaurant because she was changing her daughter
Kenya alleged on her Instagram that the mommy-shaming incident took place recently.
"Last week when I was traveling with Brooklyn, I got kicked out of a restaurant for changing her diaper!" the 48-year-old claimed on Friday, March 1.
"OMG, I was so embarrassed" she continued. "I had no idea about these rules!" The situation allegedly took place at a restaurant in an airport, according to a comment she left within her Instagram post.
Kenya revealed in the same post that she's using an app to help her with these kinds of diaper ordeals in the future.

What are your thoughts on Kenya's alleged incident?

#Empire: Extras Recall Homophobic Incident Involving Brother in Smollett Case
The Plot Thickens!

One of the brothers who police said helped Jussie Smollett stage a racist and homophobic attack in Chicago allegedly made homophobic remarks toward another gay actor on the set of “Empire” in 2015, two men who worked on the show said Friday.
Lawrence Johnson said he was working as an extra on the set of “Empire” when he witnessed Abimbola Osundairo, who was also an extra at the time, using homophobic language.

“When he used the word ‘f****t’ I was like wow,” Johnson said. “That just threw me for a loop.”
North Carolina-based actor Ticarus Bunch, another background actor at the time, said the alleged comments from Osundairo followed an altercation with openly gay actor Alex McDaniel in a holding area for extras on the show.
“Abel said, ‘Hell no, I don’t want to be friends with no f***ing f****t’,” Bunch said.
McDaniel, who is from Chicago, confirmed the incident to NBC 5 by phone but declined to discuss it further on camera for fear of his safety.
“Once Alex walked away, that’s when [Osundairo] said ‘I would never have a gay friend. I would never have a f****t as a friend,” Johnson said. “That type of thing. It was kind of shocking.”

Chicago police said Abimbola Osundairo and his brother Olabinjo told authorities “Empire” star Smollet, who is also openly gay, directed them to beat him up in a hoax hate crime attack in January.
Police said the attack was staged because Smollett was unhappy with his salary, but Smollett maintained his innocence in the case. The brothers were arrested and released without charges after police say they named Smollett as the mastermind behind the fake attack.
In addition to the alleged altercation on the “Empire” set, homophobic tweets from several years ago have also surfaced, purportedly from Olabinjo Osundairo’s account. The tweets appear to have deleted earlier this week.

When asked for comment, the brothers’ attorney would not specifically respond to allegations her clients harboured homophobic sentiments, referring to a statement released Thursday evening that said they have “tremendous regret over their involvement in this situation.”
“They understand how it has impacted people across the nation, particularly minority communities and especially those who have been victims of hate crimes themselves.”
Police said they stand by their investigation, which they say includes video evidence, text messages and testimony from the brothers.

“As far as the evidence goes, we laid everything out in the bond proffer- the highlights of it- but there’s additional evidence out there that we haven’t released yet, but it’ll help support that the alleged incident didn’t occur the way that [Smollett] claimed,” Chicago Police Supt. Eddie Johnson told NBC 5 Friday.

#NewMusic & Video from Bruno Mars and Cardi B ‘Please Me’
Atlantic Records’ dynamic duo Cardi B and Bruno Mars have released a visual for their Jodeci-inspired single, “Please Me.”

Filmed in Los Angeles, the four-minute clip opens with Bruno and his boys making an afterparty stop to a 24-hour Mexican restuarant. Moments later, Cardi and her crew loudly stroll in as they talk about a fight that was about to happen earlier that night. “We should’ve slapped that bitch,” Cardi tells her friend. “She was talking to me…crazy.”

This is the second time the two Atlantic Records labelmates worked together. Their first collaboration was on Mars’ “Finesse (Remix),” which released in 2018. The video was inspired by ’90s hit variety show In Living Color.

#HipHopNews: Master P And Jeezy Are Working On A Joint Album
Master P is bringing some major heat—or rather ice old—this summer. In an interview with the Hip Hop Magazine XXL, the No Limit Records founder reveals that he and Jeezy are working on a joint album together.
"The album is called It's Gonna Be a Cold Summer because that's how it's going to be," Master P says. "In 2019, it's going to be a cold summer."
In the past, Jeezy has cited Master P as a major influence in his rap career. On his anthemic 2016 track "Let Em Know," off Trap or Die 3, the Snowman saluted Master P for being one of the first generals of the independent movement in the 1990s ("The general, P. Miller on the tank nigga/Y'all about to make me start pullin' rank nigga"). Fast forward to 2019 and the two are now working together for the first time on a collaborative project.

"The Ice Cream Man and the Snowman," P states. "We got several songs [done]...we, like, almost there. We shot a video in New Orleans. We shot a video for I Got the Hook Up 2 soundtrack. So we got a lot of things in the works."
One song from the album that Master P is excited about is "Gone," produced by Drumma Boy. The rap mogul hopes to deliver the project by the summer. "Get your mink coats out for the South," P suggests. "We are coming with mink coats in the summer."

The Rap community should be looking forward to this!

Khloe Kardashian Says she BLAMES Tristan Thompson for Breakup, Not Jordyn Woods
Khloe Kardashian has had a change of heart, now saying that her ex Tristan Thompson is to blame for her family's breakup, not Jordyn Woods, the women he allegedly cheated on her with.
Last month, Khloe and Tristan called it quits following allegations he and Jordyn, her sister Kylie Jenner's BFF, had had an intimate encounter at a party, which came months after he was first accused of cheating on his famous girlfriend, just before she gave birth to their daughter True Thompson. On Friday, the 34-year-old Keeping Up With the Kardashians star angrily placed the blame on Jordyn she opened up about the incident with the NBA player. Khloe's comments were highly criticized by fans on Twitter.

"This has been an awful week & I know everyone is sick of hearing about it all (as am I)," Khloe tweeted on Saturday. "I'm a rollercoaster of emotions & have said things I shouldn't have. Honestly, Tristan cheating on me & humiliating me, wasn't such a shock as the first time."
"What's been harder & more painful is being hurt by someone so close to me," she continued. "Someone whom I love & treat like a little sister. But Jordyn is not to be blamed for the breakup of my family. This was Tristan's fault. I have to move on with my life & count my blessings, my family, my health, & my beautiful baby True."

Tristan had denied the recent reports about his alleged cheating after they came out, then deleted his tweet about it. On Jada Pinkett Smith's Red Table Talk show on Friday, Jordyn said that he kissed her while she was drunk at a party at his house and that she apologized to Khloe for it. She also said, "I know I'm not the reason that Tristan and Khloe are not together."

Khloe immediately took to Twitter to brand her a liar, adding, "You ARE the reason my family broke up!" and "Tristan is equally to blame but Tristan is the father of my child. Regardless of what he does to me I won't do that to my daughter."
Meanwhile, the Kardashian-Jenner family has severed their ties with Jordyn, according to them, "Nobody believes Jordyn's story for a second."

Fashion: Zendaya’s new Fashion Line only has Black Models and also the ICONS of Fashion Grace Jones! Beverly Johnson and Pat Cleveland!
Zendaya Casts Only Black Models in Her Joyful Tommy Hilfiger Show. On Saturday night in Paris, she presented her first #TOMMYNOW collaboration with Tommy Hilfiger, with enough heart to make the whole audience (including Gigi Hadid, Tyra Banks, and some very excited French teenagers) stand up and dance.

But it turns out, the 22-year-old star was cynical, too—at least at first. "Tommy called me," she said backstage in Paris before the show. "I didn't really believe it [was him] at first. Tommy Hilfiger on the phone? And he said, 'Look, if you do a show with me, you can have whatever you want and do whatever you want. Go nuts. If you have a vision, tell me, and we'll execute it together.' And then," she laughs, "I really didn't believe him!"
After some coaxing from her creative partner and stylist Law Roach, she decided to give it a try, telling Hilfiger, "I want to make a show inspired by the women who made it possible for me to be in the position where I am now. Honestly, I just wanted to say “thank you” to them through this show. I said to Tommy, 'If we do a show, this is what it needs to be about.' And Tommy said, 'Great. Go for it.' And he actually meant it. I mean, look."
She gestured to the runway cast—59 black women, ages 18 to 70—including some of the women of color Zendaya wants to thank for their contributions to fashion, Hollywood, and beyond. Pioneering models Beverly Johnson, Veronica Webb, and Beverly Peele walked the show, along with Pat Cleveland, who said backstage, "Zendaya talked to me about the Battle of Versailles, about Studio 54 and the '70s and '80s... she really wanted somebody who had been there and lived it on the runway. In a way," she grins, "I think this show is really based on the story of my life." She also hinted that maybe Zendaya herself will play Pat Cleveland in a movie based on her autobiography. (YES, PLEASE.)
Cleveland twirled down the runway to massive applause, but Grace Jones got the most screams (and gasps, and Instagram double-takes) when she closed the show in a metallic blazer and bodysuit.

"We said, 'we want Grace Jones, she represents so much beauty and power and she needs to be here,'" Zendaya explains. "And somehow, Tommy's team made it happen." (Hint: It was with help from casting director Michelle Lee.)
"I went to Grace's fitting this morning," said Law Roach, "And she loved the clothes so much that we actually got a little teary. She said 'I love everything,' so we sent her everything. She's the first person besides Zendaya to own the complete collection."
That includes lots of body-skimming disco dresses, a ton of flared jeans (sorry straight-leg fans!), high-waisted wide-leg pants worn with striped knits, and a few subversive twists on beauty ideals, including a series of striped swimsuits that channel the original Barbie... but turn her into a modern superstar.
It's exactly that pivot from old-school images of success and beauty that made this show work, even (maybe especially?) from a designer like Hilfiger, whose success owes a debt to African American culture.

"Everybody has something different that they’re great at," said Zendaya. "We need to learn from people with experience, even as the world changes. I’m still at the beginning of my career, and to learn from Tommy about having a fashion line, that’s incredibly important to me. He’s like the best teacher for that. But it’s also very cool—and I think more rare than you’d realize—to have someone who’s genuinely interested in my point of view, in other women like me and our points of view, and saying, 'What do you have to bring to the table that I can’t?' That’s been the coolest experience to me—feeling like I can show him the perspective I bring to the table, and also feeling like he actually wants to know." The world wants to know, too—at least if the 1 million+ views on her Instagram story are a clue.
Speaking of clues, here's another one: you can get the entire collection online now, though the Zodiac shirts are already almost sold out!

SAC DA: There will be NO charges for officers who shot, killed Stephon Clark
No criminal charges will be filed against the two officers who shot and killed Stephon Clark, the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office said Saturday afternoon.
DA Anne Marie Schubert made the announcement during a news conference. She said she talked to Clark’s family in the morning before the announcement.
“When we look at all of these facts and circumstances, we look at all of it, everything. We ask our question that we started out with again. And that question is: Was a crime committed? And, there's no question that a human being died," Schubert said. "But, when we look at the facts and the law, and we follow our ethical responsibilities, the answer to that question is no. And as a result, we will not charge these officers with any criminal liability related to the shooting death and use of force on Stephon Clark.”

Schubert said she understands the outrage the findings will cause in the community.
“This review does not address civil responsibility,” Schubert said. “I acknowledge these are valid conversations to be had (and) I look forward to be part of them. But, that is not the topic of today.”
Clark’s mother spoke to the news outside the family home in south Sacramento after Schubert announced the findings, saying the DA failed.

“I’m praying that the attorney general will pick up where she failed. My faith in the justice system is what it has been: It's not for us -- it's not for the black community,” Sequette Clark said. “It’s what they've shown us time and time again. That's about it. I feel like, shame on the DA, shame on her. I know she will not sleep well at night -- she can't. The video that my sons, my family, has watched. They said it looks different from the first video. I don't know if there's any truth to that. I just know that it's just not right -- and no justice, no peace.”

The investigation results come a month after the district attorney's office said the results of the investigation into the officers involved in the shooting had to be delayed due to new information from the California Department of Justice.
During the announcement, Schubert presented the evidence DA investigators looked at and considered before making the decision not to file charges. The investigation included 21 cameras from responding Sacramento police officers and a Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department helicopter. It also includes crime lab reports, a Sacramento County coroner’s report, photographs, dispatch recordings and more.

“I want to warn everybody what we will hear and see is very graphic. Although we deal with this in a dispassionate manner to be objective, this does not mean we lack compassion,” Schubert said before presenting the evidence the DA’s office used to determine the findings.
Clark was shot and killed on March 18, 2018, in his grandparents' backyard in south Sacramento. The two responding officers believed he was armed and then shot Clark, police said. Investigators later discovered Clark was holding a cellphone.

The California Attorney General's Office joined the investigation about a week after Clark's death, a move Sacramento Police Chief Daniel Hahn said he hopes will bring "faith and transparency" to a case that he said has sparked "extremely high emotions, anger and hurt in our city."
The Sacramento Police Department completed its investigation into Clark's police shooting death and turned it over to the DA's office and the DOJ on Oct. 25, 2018. The investigation took seven months to complete, police said.

Attorney General Xavier Becerra's office provided oversight during the investigation. The DOJ turned over its investigation to the DA's office on Jan. 16. The DA's office then delayed its investigation as it processed the supplemental materials.

Clark's family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the involved police officers and the city of Sacramento on Jan. 28. The suit alleges Sacramento Police Department officers racially profiled and used excessive force when they shot Clark.
The family is seeking more than $20 million in damages, including both survival damages and wrongful death damages under state and federal law.
In direct response to Clark's shooting death, the Sacramento Police Department unveiled a new policy for chasing suspects on foot.
Several officials have responded to District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert’s announcement about Stephon Clark’s shooting death. Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg held a press conference right after the announcement to talk to the community about how to prevent the situation from happening again.

Sacramento Police Chief Daniel Hahn put out a statement where he mentioned wanting to continually improve the ways our communities are policed.
“It is our responsibility to continually examine all our policies and practices for any opportunity to improve how we police our community. We are committed to that on-going work as a permanent part of who we are as a department,” Hahn said.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom called for reforms to the criminal justice system after the announcement, saying that "our criminal justice system treats young black and Latino men and women differently than their white counterparts. That must change."
U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris voiced her disappointment in the DA’s announcement, saying it was “tragic” and a “painful reminder that our criminal justice system is deeply flawed and lacks accountability.”

Tyler Perry’s Madea's 'Family Funeral' came in at #2! It got burned by 'How to Train Your Dragon 3' at The Box Office
Universal and DreamWorks Animation's How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World was able to fend off Lionsgate's release of Tyler Perry's A Madea Family Funeral and retain the weekend's #1 spot at the box office even though Perry's final outing as Madea outperformed expectations with the fourth best opening in the now nine-film franchise. Focus's Greta settled outside the top five in its debut weekend, while Universal's Best Picture winner, Green Book, saw a strong bump following its Oscar night win.

With an estimated $30 million, Universal's How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World dipped -45% in its second weekend, pushing the film's domestic cume to $97.6 million after ten days in release

In second place is Tyler Perry's ninth film in the Madea film franchise and the multi-hyphenate is reportedly making this his final Madea feature. If that holds true and Lionsgate can't talk him into a tenth pic, the titular character is going out with a bang, delivering an estimated $27 million debut, the fourth largest in the franchise. The film also received an "A-" CinemaScore from opening weekend audiences and if past performances from Madea titles means anything, look for the film to finish right around $60 million if not a bit higher. The film's opening weekend audience was 67% female and 78% of the crowd was age 25 and over, lining up with previous releases.

In the end Madea will do well!

Garrett Morris Said Martin Lawrence Fired Him While He Was In The Hospital, Then Lied About Visiting Him
Garrett Morris is a legend in the game. The New Orleans native worked in theater for years before starring in Cooley High, on “Saturday Night Live” and our generation knows him for his role as Stan Winters on “Martin.”
But the role didn’t last as long as it could have. And after three years (from the show’s launch in 1992 to 1995) Morris was inexplicably cut from the show. And he was cut during a very vulnerable time in his life.

In 1994, Morris was shot by a “would-be-mugger.” Reportedly, Morris fought back. And as a result of the unexpected confrontation, he shot Morris in his intestines and chest. He underwent several operations as a result. The assailant was later convicted and sent to prison. While incarcerated, fans of Morris assaulted the robber as a form of revenge. While Morris was in the hospital recuperating, he received a script saying that his character Stan was selling the radio station and moving to China. He made one final appearance in the show’s third season where he was walking with a cane because of the numerous operations.

Morris has spoken about his anger regarding the situation, but he never named the person responsible for his termination.
But in a recent interview with Netflix’s “Strong Black Lead,” Morris said his departure from the show was unexpected.

“But the man who produced “Martin” basically was Martin Lawrence. And after I had no bad words with him, still to this day, I do not understand why he decided to fire me while I was in Daniel Freeman Hospital. Not only fired me while I was in the hospital itself, but then went around telling people in interviews that he came and sat by my bed and cried and stuff like that. The same person.”

Amanda Bynes Checked Back Into Rehabilitation Facility After Relapse
Amanda Bynes’ recent pursuit back into Hollywood led to another breaking point.
The 32-year-old actress has faced some hard times in her career matched with a lot of public scrutiny. After seeking treatment in 2014, Amanda felt ready to get back into show business. Unfortunately, the hardships of Tinseltown was too much, and she relapsed into her dark habits.

A source told PEOPLE Magazine the actress checked back into a rehabilitation center in January to seek further help with her drug addiction and mental health issues.

The “She’s The Man” star admitted in a past interview with Paper Magazine that she’s had a fixation with drugs since she was 16-years-old. What started at weed evolved to trying cocaine and even abuse of Adderall.
It wasn’t until her “Easy A” appearance did she have a meltdown about continuing to act.

“I literally couldn’t stand my appearance in that movie, and I didn’t like my performance. I was absolutely convinced I needed to stop acting after seeing it,” Bynes explained. “I was high on marijuana when I saw that but for some reason, it really started to affect me. I don’t know if it was a drug-induced psychosis or what, but it affected my brain in a different way than it affects other people. It absolutely changed my perception of things.”

We’re all wishing Amanda a thorough and thoughtful recovery.

Jeremy Meeks Denies Split From Chloe Green After He Was Seen In LA Without Her
As a result of an altercation between Jeremy Meeks and fiancΓ©e, Chloe Green, Meeks was spotted out in Los Angeles over the weekend, and Green was nowhere to be found.

Immediately after the incident, rumors surfaced that the two were no longer together. But the model, better known as the ‘Prison Bae’ has denied the claims.
It all started with a disagreement at a Dubai club on February 19, upon Meeks’ returning to L.A. At the same time, his Top Shop inheritrix baby mama was still in Europe, sharing snaps on social media without her engagement ring.

On February 27,  days later, Meeks was spotted in Beverly Hills, shopping for jewelry with his half-sister when paparazzi questioned him about the status of his relationship.
“Of course, we’re still together,” he responded.

Since then, Meeks has even posted a sincere birthday message to his soon-to-be wife on Instagram.
He said: “Happy Birthday to the love of my LIFE…… @chloegreen5 You are the most amazing person I’ve ever met and I’m so blessed to have you in my life, and there’s NO ONE else I’d rather spend the rest of my life with. You’re an amazing mom, and I’ll love you FOREVER….. HAPPY BIRTHDAY.”

Jaden Smith’s Foundation Is Providing a Water Filtration System to People in Flint
Jaden Smith has teamed up with a local church to expand a new water filtration structure in Flint, Michigan.

Although Smith is generally known for his acting abilities and flourishing rap career, on the other hand, the son of Will and Jada is rather a humanitarian as well.
According to The Associated Press, the 20-year-old’s JUST goods foundation is partnering up with First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church to provide a mobile water filtration system titled “The Water Box” located in Flint, MI, that will diminish lead and other possible contaminants. Further to this, the filtration system was created and managed by JUST goods and the church.

It’s commonly known that Flint has been suffering from a severe water crisis because of water contamination that was detected in 2014. Nevertheless, water emergencies and other initiatives have been set in motion in the outcome of this crisis. It’s amazing to see a celebrity of Jaden’s caliber to do his part to help residents in need.
