Mahershala Ali & Amy Adams for W Magazine - Vol.1 2019
W magazine unveils its Best Performances portfolio, as part of the magazine’s Volume 1, 2019, with 7 covers featuring: Nicole Kidman, Amy Adams & Mahershala Ali, Michael B. Jordan & Margot Robbie, Rami Malek & Eddie Redmayne, KiKi Layne & Jonah Hill, Saoirse Ronan, and Claire Foy & Emily Blunt.

The portfolio, cast and written by Lynn Hirschberg, and featuring 10 Golden Globe nominees, portrays the leading Hollywood stars of 2018 in an eccentric universe created by photographer Tim Walker.
Today we focus on Mahershala Ali in Green Book & Amy Adams in Vice

Mahershala Ali
Did you already know how to play the piano?
No. I worked for three months so that I’d look comfortable playing. Once I put on the ascot and sat at the piano, it helped the character pop into alignment.

Amy Adams
Did her conservative politics affect your performance?
I really just absorbed her point of view. Whether I agree with it or not doesn’t really matter. To get into character, I would have long debates about policy and politics as Lynne Cheney with our director, Adam McKay. I called him many names. I teased him about wearing shorts on set and how that was disrespectful. But I didn’t swear, because Lynne wouldn’t swear.

#RHoA: Get a room already! Porsha Rips READS Kandi for Throwing Her Out of Todd's Party
"The point of this conversation is you're not my f--king friend!" Porsha hurls at Kandi.
Back in August, Kandi Burruss threw husband Todd Tucker a Michael Jordan-themed 45th birthday party. She even extended the invite to once-enemy Porsha Williams, who happily attended with boyfriend Dennis McKinley.

But an altercation between Porsha and Kandi's friend/Dennis' ex-girlfriend broke out during the event, and ultimately, Kandi's security forced Porsha to leave. Sunday's episode of "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" captured the aftermath of the ordeal, which blew up in everyone's face when the ladies got together for dinner and drinks at the home of Tanya Sam, NeNe Leakes' friend.

The second Porsha walked in, Tanya let her know Kandi was in the backyard with the other women, already fired up about the ordeal. Kandi insisted she only knew the side of the story that "multiple people" who allegedly saw the incident told her, so she asked Porsha what she thought happened that night. Kandi was also under the impression Porsha must have been drunk, but Porsha claims she was 100 percent sober because she had just found out she was expecting -- which Kandi didn't know.

Porsha explained to Kandi that she felt Kandi should have reached out to her after she got booted from the event to make sure she was okay. For the most part, NeNe and Cynthia Bailey agreed with Porsha, but they stayed as far away from the crossfire as possible. At the time, they were the only two of the group who knew Porsha was pregnant.

Porsha also noted that the debacle wound up all over "the blogs" the next day, adding that many of the stories she read were littered with "lies."

"So are you trying to say I put the lies in the press?" Kandi asked. Growing agitated, Porsha replied, "I'm just reading you down the situation."

The two couldn't agree upon who exactly was the "aggressor" of the situation. Porsha claims it was Kandi's friend (who she's gotten into a physical altercation with before) who came over to flirt with Dennis/taunt Porsha, but Kandi was under the impression Porsha was going around chest-bumping her friend to provoke a fight. Given that side of the story, Kandi felt Porsha owed her a text after getting kicked out of the party.

"Why would you get kicked out of the party if you weren't the aggressor?" Kandi asked.
"Because I was wrongfully kicked out of the party!" Porsha fired back. "That's the whole point! The point of this conversation is you're not my f--king friend."
"Clearly," Kandi replied with an eye roll and a shoulder shrug.
"Clearly!" Porsha shouted. "Because guess what? If you were any type of friend -- or if you were even someone who wanted to work on a friendship -- your conversation to me right now would even be different. I regret f--king coming, and I hate it even happened, okay?"
Porsha got louder and more aggressive, accusing Kandi's employees ("The Factory") of constantly disrespecting her and "who they feel they can" disrespect.

"You always are the aggressor and then become the victim," Kandi insisted, but Porsha fired back, "I'm nobody's victim, bitch!"
That's when Kandi snapped. "Who the f--k you calling a bitch?!" she shouted as she stood up. Porsha accused Kandi of being "fake," saying Kandi would behave the same way if she were in Porsha's shoes.
"You don't know how to control yourself -- that's the problem! F--k you!" Kandi shouted. "Man, take your ass out with all that bullshit."

The blowup will continue next week.
"The Real Housewives of Atlanta" airs Sundays at 8 p.m. on Bravo.

Kevin Spacey arrives at Nantucket courtroom and pleads not guilty to teen sex assault!
Kevin Spacey arrived in a Nantucket courtroom on Monday morning just before 11am to attend his arraignment at the island's courthouse.
The actor was all smiles and seemed to be completely at ease as he snuck in the side door of the building, before being arraigned on a single count of Indecent Assault and Battery.

That charge carries a sentence of up to five years in jail, and Spacey was ordered to have no contact with the victim or his family.
Spacey was seen chatting and laughing with his lawyer before his case was called in front of the packed courthouse, and when it was his turn a plea of not guilty was entered on his behalf.
He was told that he could face 90 days in a prison should he commit a crime ahead of the trial and the judge ordered the actor to stay away from the teenage accuser and his family, referring to the young man as the 'victim.'
Spacey's lawyer and the prosecution then argued over a discovery motion, with the actor's team wanting all of the accuser's texts with his then-girlfriend from the 2016 incident until today and the prosecution just offering up the day of and after the the alleged assault.

The judge did not rule on the motion yet, and less than 10 minutes after he arrived, Spacey was heading back to the airport to fly home.
The actor, who only spoke the words 'thank you' during the hearing, did have to make one quick stop on the way out to see a probation officer.

The pretrial hearing in the case was set for March 4, but Spacey will not have to appear in person and can instead call in to the court.

Wendy Williams is Taking More Time Off from her Talk Show!
Wendy Williams took to Instagram three days ago to remind her followers in a now deleted post that her January 7 return to daytime television was drawing near.

“3 DAYS until I’m back! New year means new shows. Make sure you turn-in on Monday,” she captioned a photo of herself in a post that has since been removed from her account.
Returning to the platform on Sunday, however, a rep for her show penned another post informing her fans that she will be taking another week off to focus on healing from an injury.

“Wendy Williams will be returning with all-new episodes of The Wendy Williams Showon Monday, January 14, 2019,” the caption reads. “After fracturing her shoulder, Wendy is on the mend and wants to return pain-free and be 200%, delivering the best show that millions of viewers tune-in to watch.”

Cyntoia Brown Is being Granted Clemency After Serving 15 Years In Prison
Cyntoia Denise Brown, a woman serving a life sentence for killing a man who bought her for sex when she was 16 years old, has been granted clemency, the Tennessee governor’s office said Monday.
According to CNN reports, Brown will be released to parole supervision on August 7 after serving 15 years in prison, Gov. Bill Haslam’s office said in a statement.

“This decision comes after careful consideration of what is a tragic and complex case,” Haslam said.
“Cyntoia Brown committed, by her own admission, a horrific crime at the age of 16. Yet, imposing a life sentence on a juvenile that would require her to serve at least 51 years before even being eligible for parole consideration is too harsh, especially in light of the extraordinary steps Ms. Brown has taken to rebuild her life. Transformation should be accompanied by hope.”

Brown’s case drew the attention of several high-profile advocates including a US congressman, several Tennessee lawmakers and a number of A-List celebrities. Comedian Amy Schumer, reality star Kim Kardashian West and actress Ashley Judd were among those who called for Brown’s clemency.

Anti-LGBTQ pastor FIRED from Church for ‘sleeping with prostitutes, smoking marijuana!
A pastor known for calling Orlando shooting victims at a gay nightclub “scum” in 2016 has been ousted from his Fort Worth church for “sleeping with prostitutes,” marijuana possession and gambling, according to a fellow pastor.
Pastor Donnie Romero of Stedfast Baptist Church resigned Wednesday, said Steven Anderson, a pastor at Romero’s former church in Phoenix.
As of Friday, Romero had not been charged with any crime by Fort Worth police. Anderson also said Romero has not been charged with a crime.

Romero could not be reached for comment Friday afternoon.

On Wednesday, Romero addressed the Stedfast congregation and said he was leaving the church. The announcement was posted on the church’s YouTube channel.
“I have not been ruling my house well. I have been a terrible husband and father,” Romero said tearfully in the announcement. “I’m the one at fault in this situation. I love Stedfast Baptist Church. I love my family. This is the best decision for my family and this church to make.”
He added that he and his family planned to stay at Stedfast as church members.
“I’m very sorry for the hurt this may cause people. I’m so sorry. I wish I would not have let it get to this point,” he said.

Anderson addressed the congregation in person Wednesday and posted a video on his personal YouTube channel Thursday explaining in detail why Romero was disqualified from being a pastor, saying Romero committed “grievous sins.”

“The major sin involved was being with prostitutes,” Anderson says in the video. “Also marijuana and gambling were discovered.”
Stedfast church was labeled as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center in 2015. In December 2014, Romero said in a sermon, which was posted on YouTube, that gay people should be “put to death.”
The video has since been removed by YouTube for violating its usage policy on hate speech.

Anderson is the pastor of Faith Word Baptist Church in Phoenix. He said he is helping Stedfast find a new pastor.
“I found out about it on Monday, and I confronted him and intervened and then basically stepped in and tried to help the church get through this,” Anderson said in an interview with the Star-Telegram.
“Churches frequently just cover things up,” Anderson said “That is wrong. It’s sad how it makes Christianity look bad and Baptists look bad, but it’s not right to cover this up.”
In June 2016, Romero posted a video of a sermon in which he called shooting victims at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando “the scum of the earth.”

“These 50 Sodomites were all perverts and pedophiles and they are the scum of the earth, and the earth is a little bit better place now, and I’ll even take it a little further. I heard on the news today that there are still several dozen of these queers in ICU, and I will pray that God will finish the job that that man started,” he says in the video.
After Romero’s sermon in 2016, a group of about 40 people protested across the street from the small Baptist church, chanting “We are done with hate!”
Stedfast Baptist Church is an independent fundamental Baptist church. A Star-Telegram investigation published in December discovered at least 412 allegations of sexual misconduct in 187 independent fundamental Baptist churches and their affiliated institutions, spanning 40 states and Canada.
Anderson, the Phoenix pastor, is also well-known for his sermons, which frequently include hate speech. The church he founded, Faithful Word Baptist, was also designated a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Anderson has 100,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel.
In one sermon recorded at his church, Anderson suggested the world could be AIDS-free by Christmas if only people “executed the homos like God recommends.”

Anderson also came under fire after the shooting in Orlando for saying, “The good news is that at least 50 of these pedophiles are not going to be harming children anymore,” The Washington Post reported.

Philadelphia Eagles’ Win Scores Best NFL Wild Card Ratings For NBC Since 1994
Looking until the final minutes like it may go into overtime and delay the start of the Golden Globes, last night’s NFL wild card playoff game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Chicago Bears was a solid winner for not just the current Super Bowl champions but also the NFL and NBC.

After a strong performance from Eagles quarterback Nick Foles in an often grinding game, and a failed potential game-winning 43-yard field goal in the final seconds from Bears kicker Cody Parkey that bounced off both the upright and the crossbar, the visitors in the Windy City claimed a 16-15 victory. That victory puts more wind under the Eagles’ wings for a possible Super Bowl return.
It is a win that also saw near-Super Bowl numbers for the league and the Comcast-owned network on a weekend of football ratings wins as the playoffs progress. Going into the first hour of Sunday’s primetime and right up to the start of the Globes, the Eagles-Bears game drew a 22.9/40 metered market result. It marks the best any show on any network of any type has done since Super Bowl LII in February.
In fact, the Eagles-Bears battle had the best wild card overnight rating for NBC since Bill Clinton was President, when the Denver Broncos took on the Los Angeles Raiders on January 9, 1994.

While very likely to change, right now the fast affiliates for the final hour of the game from 7-8 PM ET have the game snaring an 11.2/40 rating among adults 18-49. Overall, viewership for that tense back and forth hour reached an amazing 37.7 million people watching to see which team would move on.

With lead-in numbers like that, and the fact the Andy Samberg- and Sandra Oh-hosted Golden Globes is actually down from last year in metered market ratings, is a huge blow to the awards show. That is reinforced by the fact that the Eagles-Bears game peaked with a massive 27.6/43 in the 7:45-8 PM time period, right before the Globes went live from the Beverly Hilton.
Facing next to no serious competition, the expectation would be that the Globes would see a significant bounce from its programming predecessor as two big teams from major markets faced off. Decline or ever staying flat in this case is a big loss for the Globes coming off those NFL results.
Putting the results of the game in another POV in a season that has seen an uptick in NFL numbers, last evening’s game was up 12% in metered market ratings from the comparable New Orleans Saints-Carolina Panthers game on Fox last year.

We’ll see final numbers for Sunday’s game in the next day or so. For now, check out its Top 10 local markets:

1. Philadelphia – 44.6/66
2. Chicago – 43.1/68
3. New Orleans – 34.5/51
4. Milwaukee – 32.0/49
5. Norfolk – 31.5/48
6. Richmond – 31.0/47
7. Kansas City – 29.1/45
8. Buffalo – 27.9/41
9. Dallas – 26.4/49

10. Minneapolis – 26.1/47

Golden Globes 2019 Ratings were the lowest in three years!
The 2019 Golden Globes ratings are in…and the show garnered its smallest audience in three years.
Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh hosted this year’s show, which averaged 18.6 million viewers and a 5.2 rating with adults 18-49, EW reports. This is up 4 percent from last year in the same demographic.

Last year’s show averaged 19 million viewers.

On the bright side, while overall viewership declined, other awards shows – including the Academy Awards and Grammys – have been down in viewership to an even larger degree including the adult demographic, which the Globes didn’t experience this year.

Megyn Kelly's 'Today' Show New Replacement Lineup Has Been Revealed
New year, new "Today" show 9 a.m. hour.

NBC News meteorologist Dylan Dreyer revealed on Monday morning that she's co-hosting Megyn Kelly's old timeslot every weekday with Al Roker, Sheinelle Jones and Craig Melvin.
Jones retweeted the announcement, as did Roker, who added, "I love these guys."
The gang premiered today, months after NBC fired Kelly back in October, two days after she endorsed black face as an acceptable component of a Halloween costume.

"Back when I was a kid, that was okay as long as you were dressing up as a character," she said during a panel discussion about colleges encouraging students not to wear costumes that could offend others.
"Get over it. Wear what you want," she concluded.
The very next day, however, she apologized for her insensitive commentary.
"I'm Megyn Kelly and I want to begin with two words: I'm sorry," she said to kickoff her final episode. "You may have heard that yesterday we had a discussion about political correctness and Halloween costumes and that conversation turned to whether it is ever okay for a person of one race to dress up as another, a black person making their face lighter or a white person making their face darker, to make a costume complete. I defended the idea, saying as long as it was respectful and part of a Halloween costume, it seemed okay. Well, I was wrong and I am sorry."

The reveal of the new 9 a.m. "Today" anchors follows longtime 10 a.m. co-host Kathie Lee Gifford announcing her impending departure in April. NBC has not yet announced the replacement that will join Hoda Kotb.

The Belle of the Ball Miss Lady GaGa’s Golden Globes Dress was an Ode to Icon Judy Garland!
Lady Gaga collectively made jaws drop last night when she stepped onto the red carpet wearing a larger-than-life periwinkle Valentino dress. It's an incredible gown on its own, but there might be a secret meaning behind it making it even better.

@TheVintageCostumeCollector on Instagram pointed out that the dress looked super familiar, like one of the ones Judy Garland wore in her version of "A Star Is Born."
And it's a spot on comparison, right? They're basically the same color and the silhouettes are freakishly similar. So cool!
Quick refresher: Lady Gaga and Bradley cooper's version of "A Star Is Born" is actually the fourth recreation of the movie. The very first one was made in 1937, then Judy's came in 1954. There was a Barbara Streisand version in 1976, and now the newest one.
So this could just be a weird coincidence, or Lady Gaga could have intentionally made sure to honor the history of the movie she starred in. Either way, cool!

Drake Under Fire After Video From A 2010 Concert Resurfaces Of Him Kissing and Caressing A 17-Year-Old
Over the weekend, a video of then 23-year-old Drake resurfaced of him kissing and groping on a 17-year-old on social media.
The clip that has resurfaced is from Drake’s concert in May 2010 at the Ogden Theatre in Colorado. In the video, the rapper is seen slow dancing with the teen, which led to him caressing and kissing her neck.

Drake then says to the crowd, “Y’all gonna have me get carried away again. I get in trouble for sh*t like this; how old are you?”
The teen then says that she is 17-years-old. Drake then responds with, “I can’t go to jail yet, man! Seventeen? How do you look like that? You thick. Look at all this.”
After learning of the girl’s age, the rapper tells the teen he had fun with her and liked the way her breast felt. He then goes in to kiss her on the lips.

Fans are in an uproar about this video, especially after many have watched the docuseries, “Surviving R. Kelly.”
According to TMZ, the age of consent in Colorado is 17 and Drake was 23-years-old at the time.

What are your thoughts?

Whoopi Goldberg Tells Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez To ‘Sit Still’ And ‘Learn The Job’
Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez of New York’s 14th District hasn’t even been in Congress for a week, and she’s already attracted more criticism on the national stage than most other politicians will probably receive all year.
But not all of that criticism is from the right.
On “The View” Monday, Whoopi Goldberg dinged Ocasio-Cortez after the congresswoman’s “60 Minutes” interview with Anderson Cooper on Sunday.

“We as a party have compromised too much,” Ocasio-Cortez told Cooper in a clip from the interview. “And we’ve lost too much of who we’re supposed to be and who we are.”
Goldberg argued that Ocasio-Cortez wasn’t giving her Democratic predecessors the credit they deserve.

“It is very, very difficult when people make accusations where you say, you know, the Democrats have done nothing, the establishment of the Democrats have done nothing,” the host said. “And I just want to throw this out to you: [Rep.] John Lewis wasn’t sitting still. [Sen.] Dianne Feinstein wasn’t sitting still.”

There are a lot of people in the Democratic Party, Goldberg said, who have been “busting their asses.”
Ocasio-Cortez has taken a number of anti-establishment positions since arriving on the political scene. She ruffled the feathers of some party colleagues in November when she encouraged future primary challenges against Democratic incumbents. She also participated in a climate change protest outside then-House Minority Leader Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office during her congressional orientation.

“It requires risk to try something new, but also we know so much of what we’ve tried in the past hasn’t worked either,” Ocasio-Cortez told Cooper.
“Before you start pooping on people and what they’ve done, you got to do something, too,” Goldberg said on “The View.”
Ultimately, though, Goldberg seemed to give Ocasio-Cortez more encouragement than condemnation.

“So you just got in there, and I know you got lots of good ideas,” the host said, “but I would encourage you to sit still for a minute and learn the job.”

R. Kelly Plans To Expose His Accusers With New Website Called “Surviving Lies”
Days after the final episodes of the disturbing six-part docuseries, “Surviving R. Kelly,” which chronicled years of sexual, mental and emotional abuse at the hands of the controversial superstar, the self-proclaimed Pied Piper of R&B is preparing to have the last word with an exposé of his own.

According to TMZ, Kelly has vowed to expose his accusers for what he claims to be blatant lies on the Lifetime docu-series, and sources say he’s checking off his list one by one.

In fact, according to the publication, Kelly and his camp are preparing to launch a new website called “www.survivinglies.com” to turn the tables on those who’ve exposed him. But until then, the singer’s team has created a new Facebook page dedicated to clearing Kelly’s name.

Apparently, Kelly’s first target is Asante McGee, who claimed to be one of the singer’s “sex slaves.” In a video linked to the singer’s new page, Asante’s daughter apparently refutes her mother’s claims of sexual abuse in a leaked conversation with her boyfriend, allegedly claiming Asante often bragged about the lavish life she lived with him.

In addition to the video, the new page also details Asante’s criminal history and alleges that she’s working with Joycelyn Savage’s father to get money out of the singer.

However, the information on the new page has yet to be verified.
