#Empire: Recap: The Sisterhood Falls Apart
Cookie’s sub-plot on tonight’s episode is where the meat of the story lies. It all starts when Porsha (Ta’Rhonda Jones) suggests a more real Cookie on social media. Her followers spiked since Cookie told them about how she doesn’t know everything but will do what she can to make someone a star. Carol (Tasha Smith) tells them how her followers have been piling up since. When a glitch happens, Candace (Vivica A. Fox) calls over her son Franklin to fix it. It’s no doubt that the kid’s a whiz.

As Cookie and Candace go through some more business, Cookie notices a bruise on Candace’s wrist. She tells Carol about it, and they both confront her about it. Cookie has a strong feeling that Candace’s ex-husband is doing this to her, but Candace denies it and threatens to beat them both up if they don’t go about their own business.

Cookie decides to let it go and apologizes. As she asks Candace for an idea to be more personal on Instagram, Franklin freaks out because his dad (Candace’s ex-husband) is there. He barges in and demands his black suit. He couldn’t get it from their house because Candace took his keys away. Cookie notices things escalating, so he orders Candace’s ex out. Candace then tells Franklin to hand over his keys so his dad can get his stuff out of their house. When he leaves, Franklin expresses concern over his father being there and insists that he and Candace should leave their house. Candace agrees and goes back home.
After a while, Cookie and Carol notice that Candace hasn’t shown up nor answered her phone. Cookie thinks that her ex-husband is abusing her, so she and Carol run to her place. But a shocking twist is revealed—Candace is indeed being abused. Not by her ex though, but Candace’s son Franklin.

Cookie and Carol arrive to see Franklin beating his mom up. The two also get hurt as Franklin goes on an uncontrolled rampage. He knocks Cookie out and destroys the door that Candace and Carol are hiding. Cookie regains her consciousness and calls 911 as she calms Franklin down. The boy slowly eases up just as the police arrive.

Now, this is where things get too real. The police, seeing Franklin as a black kid with a possible weapon beside him, tasers him—never caring about Cookie’s assurance that Franklin’s not armed. Candace is shocked and reveals that Franklin has a mental condition while the police take him away. In her anger, she punches Cookie and tells her that she never wants to see her again.

The episode ends with Cookie back at the mansion. She finally gets an idea for a more personal image on Instagram. With bruises on her face and tear-soaked eyes, she goes live on Instagram to tell her followers about what just happened. “I was scared because I thought I would lose someone I love to a cop’s bullet,” Cookies says, referring to the harrowing experience with Franklin. “That’s what it’s like to black and brown in this country. Who do we call when we need help? Who will protect us?”

A NJ Couple and homeless man charged in $400K GoFundMe HOAX!
The heartwarming story of a New Jersey couple whose GoFundMe campaign raised over $400,000 to lift a homeless veteran out of poverty was “completely made up … to make people feel bad,” prosecutors revealed Thursday, as all three were charged with the massive scam.

Kate McClure and Mark D’Amico started the online fund drive in November 2017, claiming that vagrant Johnny Bobbitt had spent his last $20 to buy McClure a tank of gas when her car broke down along I-95 outside Philadelphia.

But the couple, who officials said were hard up for cash themselves, had actually known Bobbitt for at least a month, occasionally spotting him $10 or a cup of coffee as he panhandled near an underpass by Philly’s SugarHouse Casino, the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office said in a Thursday press briefing.
It was off the same exit ramp to the casino that McClure and Bobbitt posed for a touching photo together after Bobbitt supposedly came to her rescue with the gas money — which officials now say was anything but spur-of-the-moment.
Less than an hour after the couple’s “Pay It Forward” campaign went live on GoFundMe, McClure texted a friend, copping to the whole ruse.

“Okay so wait the gas part is completely made up … But the guy isn’t,” she wrote. “I had to make something up to make people feel bad … So, shush about the made up part.”
The heartstring-tugging tale worked, as donations started pouring in for Bobbitt, with the viral campaign’s haul eventually blowing past $400,000.

But the plot’s feel-good veneer started to crack over the summer, when Bobbitt, 35, sued the Florence Township couple, claiming that he saw only about $75,000 as McClure, 28, and D’Amico, 39, blew the rest on splurges including a new BMW and designer shoes.
Additionally, the pair withdrew over $85,000 in cash from ATMs at or near casinos ranging from Atlantic City to Las Vegas.
D’Amico and McClure countered that they were holding out for Bobbitt’s own good because they accused him of relapsing into his drug addiction.

The couple turned themselves in to authorities Wednesday, while Bobbitt was arrested in Philadelphia.
All three are charged with conspiracy and theft by deception.
D’Amico and McClure were processed and released late Wednesday, while Bobbitt is awaiting extradition to New Jersey.

All donors who contributed to the campaign will be refunded by GoFundMe, the company announced Thursday.

Kim Porter, Model and Mother of Diddy’s 3 children dead at 47
Kim Porter — who had an on-again, off-again relationship with Sean “Diddy” Combs for more than a decade, and three kids with the music mogul — died on Thursday.

A rep for her said, “Sadly, I can confirm the passing of Kim Porter. I ask that you give the families privacy at this time.”
The rep had no further comment on the cause of death.
TMZ reported law enforcement sources as telling the site that authorities were called to Porter’s LA home on Thursday, and that a 911 call reported “a patient in cardiac arrest.” A source further told the site that Porter, 47, had been suffering from pneumonia for weeks, but that it was still unclear how she died.

Another source said that there will be an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Porter and Diddy began dating in the mid-1990s and their relationship ended for good in 2007. They had three children — Jessie James, D’Lila, and Christian — together. Porter also had a son, Quincy, from her relationship with R&B crooner Al B. Sure.

Mo'Nique Continues to Defend Roseanne Barr
Back in July comedian Mo'Nique was one of the few to come forward defending Roseanne Barr after she sent a racist Tweet about former Obama White House staffer Valerie Jarrett [click here if you missed that].

Mo'Nique stands by her word...

...in her latest interview with The Chicago Tribune
...That’s why, when people turned on my sister Roseanne Barr, I couldn’t do it. Because there were black entertainers who would not come on “The Mo’Nique Show” because it was quote-unquote “too black.” But when I called on my sista, she said (imitating Barr): “Where is it and what time you need me to come?”
And when she showed up, when the cameras weren’t rolling, she said to me: “Listen, you’re the real deal. Don’t let them use you up and take advantage of you, because they will. Don’t you let them do that to you.”
Now, a racist woman ain’t gonna say that to me.
Q: But her tweets were blatantly racist.
A: I’m gonna say this: We’re comedians. And I know her. And what she thought was funny, as a comedian, that’s what it was.
Q: But wait, you challenged Charlamagne because you felt he was putting poison out into the community. You could argue that Roseanne, regardless of her intentions — and I would argue that her intentions didn’t feel humorous, they felt pretty dark — was putting poison out into the world.
A: When we talked privately — and we’ve talked privately a lot — she’ll break her jokes down and I’ll know where they’re coming from. She’s like, “Listen, you know how I grew up, so how could I start making fun of anybody? I’m not trying to hurt anybody.”.
Has she ever said, “Kill black people”?
Q: I don’t think that’s the line someone has to cross in order for their words to be racist.
A: And I can’t argue with what you’re saying — I can’t, baby! But here’s what I know about this woman: She was behind the scenes fighting for the black (concert) promoters. Nobody knows that. She’s behind the scenes trying to push a documentary about Malcolm X with a brother who’s a Muslim.
So when I know about this these things personally, did my sista say some things in poor taste? Some people could say yes. But what I won’t label her is a racist. When she sends me a DM that says, “My love, we will rise again like the Phoenix” — a racist woman wouldn’t do that, would she?

Jeff Rohrer Retired Dallas Cowboys Linebacker — Comes Out as Gay, Reveals He's Getting Married
Retired NFL linebacker Jeff Rohrer is gay and set to become the first former or current NFL player in a same-sex marriage, he revealed in a new interview published on Wednesday.

In the New York Times story, Rohrer, 59, opened up about his sexuality for the first time.

“I’m sure there’s going to be some people out there who have a negative reaction to this,” Rohrer told the outlet, adding, “and I’m fine with it.”

Born and raised in Manhattan Beach, California, Rohrer played football in high school then at Yale University. He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys after college and played for the Texas team from 1982 to 1989. Following his exit from the NFL, Rohrer pursued his passion for visual art and currently works in media.
Said Rohrer, “If I had told the Dallas Cowboys in the 1980s that I was gay, I would have been cut immediately. It was a different world back then, people didn’t want to hear that.”
In fact, it was football, he says, that kept him for coming out for so long.

He told the Times, “People are born gay, as I was, though being gay was just something that had no place during the course of my football life.”
“But when I got divorced, I said the hell with it, I’m going to do what I’ve always wanted to do,” he added to the outlet. “Then I found Josh, and began to openly live the life I was born to live.

Rohrer — who was previously married to a woman and has two teen children — currently lives in Los Angeles with his now-fiancΓ©, Joshua Ross, celebrity aesthetician and founder of SkinLab.
The pair met back in May 2015, according to the Times, when Rohrer was still “completely in the closet.” He added, “And if not for Josh, I’d still be in there.”
Their romance began quickly — though Ross didn’t know for months that his boyfriend was a former NFL star — with Ross sharing that he was attracted to Rohrer’s “unselfishness.”

Ross told the outlet, “I guess that came from being a husband and a father, and always making sure his family came first.”
According to Rohrer, the wedding news will surprise many. In fact, he told the Times that one guest sent back his invite because he thought it was a joke.

“I’ve given at least five people heart attacks with this news,” he said. “But for the most part, many of my closest friends, including some of my former teammates with the Cowboys, could not have been more happy and supportive.”
Among the supportive? Former NFL Senior Vice President of Communications Greg Aiello, who told the Times that “People who really know Jeff will be happy for him, and proud of him for living his truth.”
The couple will marry in front of 150 guests this coming Sunday, in a ceremony at Los Angeles’ Wattles Mansion Gardens, according to the Times. The grooms will both wear midnight blue tuxedos by Salvatore Ferragamo.

Guests will enjoy a full raw bar, among other menu items, and close the evening with a wedding cake by Sweet Lady Jane.

Prince Estate Awarded $4 Million Judgment Against Late Singer’s Producer
The Prince estate has won a judgment just shy of $4 million against a producer who allegedly released a few songs after his death without permission.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, George Ian Boxill was ordered to pay the estate $3,960,287.65 for damages, costs and attorney’s fees.

An arbitrator ruled in August that Boxill breached his contract with the estate when he attempted to release an EP called “Deliverance” last year. The arbitrator awarded the estate $3 million for the breach with the rest of the money to cover their fees.
Boxill was also ordered to return all Prince materials he obtained through his work for Prince to the estate.
The producer has filed documents to attempt to vacate the award and the estate has asked the court to confirm the judgment.

A judge has yet to officially sign off on the ruling.

Police Suggest Security Guard Jemel Roberson Was To Blame For His Own Death
There’s no question that the death of security guard Jemel Roberson was in grave error.
He was shot dead by a police officer on Sunday but should be taking a victory lap today: He was killed while subduing a suspect in a shooting at the bar where he worked, Manny’s Blue Room in Robbins, Illinois, outside Chicago.

One of the drunken patrons he told to leave earlier had re-entered with a gun and shot multiple people, and Roberson ― who was also armed ― tried to pin one of the men involved until police arrived.
“He had somebody on the ground with his knee in back, with his gun in his back like, ‘Don’t move,’” witness Adam Harris told WGN-TV.

What happened next is still being debated between the Illinois State Police, witnesses and Roberson’s friends and family.
A responding Midlothian police officer shot Roberson, 26, who later died at a hospital. On Tuesday state police, tasked with independently investigating the shooting by the officer, stated in a press release that Roberson didn’t identify himself as a security guard and ignored the officer’s demands to drop his gun:

Upon his arrival, a Midlothian Police Officer encountered a subject in plain black clothing with no markings readily identifying him as a Security Guard, armed with a gun in the west parking lot. According to witness statements, the Midlothian Officer gave the armed subject multiple verbal commands to drop the gun and get on the ground before ultimately discharging his weapon and striking the subject.

On Wednesday, however, a witness had a different story. Dorian Myrickes told The Associated Press that nobody ordered Roberson to put down his gun before he was shot and that he was wearing at the time a knit hat and black sweatshirt, both emblazoned with the word “security.”

Myrickes was shot in the initial incident. From his hospital room, he spoke to the AP, which reported, “Myrickes says he had just been shot in the shoulder by a gunman inside Manny’s Blue Room in Robbins early Sunday when he saw the officer point his gun at the 26-year-old Roberson. He says he could hear people yelling that Roberson was a security guard. The officer then fired multiple shots.”

One of Roberson’s friends from high school, Citlali Arroyo, told HuffPost that she was sad ― but not surprised ― to see police cast blame onto her “gentle giant” of a friend for his own death.

“We all know how these things go. I know that we’re all scared for what’s going to come next,” she said. “Generally, in the aftermath comes destruction of the person’s character, and we want to stop this from happening.”
Arroyo helped plan a vigil in Chicago on Friday for those who can’t make a family event for Roberson outside the city. It will be a peaceful affair at their high school, Lane Tech, to honor Roberson as they remember him: the father of a 9-year-old boy, Tristan, for whom Roberson was working extra shifts to buy presents; a hero whose girlfriend is pregnant with their second child; a musician at several local churches he attended; a lawful man with dreams of becoming a police officer; a hard worker who helped his friends get through school.

“We both almost didn’t graduate, so we worked really hard to make it through together,” Arroyo said over the phone, through tears. “His character is just a warm, friendly, gentle giant. He was always so goofy. Friendly, kind and funny — those are the top three for anyone who knew him. He was always laughing or joking around.”

A GoFundMe campaign set up on behalf of Roberson’s family for his funeral costs reached $140,000 by Thursday.

Lil Jon Cuts the Ribbon on Second School In Ghana Less Than a Year After the First One Began Enrollment
Less than a year after opening his first school in Ghana, Lil Jon has opened a second school in the African country thanks to a partnership with Pencils of Promise.

The non-profit organization, which is aimed at assisting with building schools and expanding educational opportunity in developing countries, confirmed to AOL Tuesday, Nov. 13 that the rapper has opened his second school in the village of Mafi Atitekpo. Called Mafi Atitekpo D.A. Primary School, it officially began enrollment in July 2018 with 313 students in attendance.

In response to the news of the school’s opening making headlines, Lil Jon wrote simply on his Instagram account, “πŸ™πŸ½πŸ™πŸ½πŸ™πŸ½πŸ™πŸ½.”
Plans for Mafi Atitekpo D.A. have been in the works for over a year and Lil Jon, whose real name is Jonathan Smith, broke ground on the school in January.

“I’m all about helping children,” the performer told CNN at the time. “Children are our future and every child deserves to have an environment where they can learn and flourish and gain knowledge.”
The second school’s opening follows the ribbon being cut on Lil Jon’s first primary school, named Abomayaw D.A. Kindergarten after his late mother, in October 2017. The MC has raised $70,000 to open each school with the organization founded by Adam Braun in 2008.

“Yesterday was a special day for me and my family,” the rapper said on his Instagram page at the time of the first school’s opening. “We had a ribbon-cutting ceremony and dedication of a brand new primary school in Ghana I funded along with [Pencils of Promise]. I dedicated it to the Abomayaw community and to my mother. God is good.”
