Betty White Reveals Her Secrets for Living a Long Life — Vodka and Hot Dogs Included
As six-time Emmy award-winner Betty White, whose career spans more than seven decades, prepares to celebrate her 96th birthday on January 17, the Golden Girls star is offering her tips to a long and happy life.
White’s biggest piece of advice? Stay positive.

“Enjoy life. Accentuate the positive, not the negative. It sounds so trite, but a lot of people will pick out something to complain about, rather than say, ‘Hey, that was great!’ It’s not hard to find great stuff if you look,” White told Parade Magazine.

White also told Parade that she loves vodka and hot dogs, “probably in that order.”
She added that she used that same positive attitude in her career. White told Parade that early in her career she would get turned down for parts for being “unphotogenic.”
“You just keep plugging away. You don’t give up,” she told Parade.

“I got an award for everything,” she told the magazine. “Inhaling, exhaling . . . I’ve been so spoiled rotten.”
And White isn’t planning on giving up her sunny outlook anytime soon.
“I know it sounds corny, but I try to see the funny side and the upside, not the downside. I get bored with people who complain about this or that. It’s such a waste of time.”

#RHoA: ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’ Recap: The Ladies Put Aside Their Differences for a Good Cause
The forecast called for shade, but these ladies came prepared. On the Sunday, January 7, episode of the The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Kenya Moore was busy shooting a PSA about domestic violence. To the camera, she revealed that when she was much younger, she dated a man who was so violent that she was eventually “stabbed” and could have died. Sheree Whitfield had accepted Kenya’s invitation to consider participating in the video. Kenya’s goal was for the message to play on national TV. Sheree’s goal was to make sure that Kenya wasn’t the only one in charge. Kenya then suggested Sheree could be her intern. Sheree didn’t seem too thrilled about that.

Meanwhile, Nene Leakes and Marlo Hampton decided that it would be a good idea for Nene to sit down with Porsha Williams and make peace – well, Marlo thought that would be a good idea. Nene … not so much. But what Marlo wants, Marlo gets, so they scheduled a casual sit down.

The Biggest ‘Real Housewives’ Fights Ever: A Definitive Ranking
At the same time, Cynthia Bailey was getting pushed into the present. After she and Will were interrogated by Kandi Burruss and her husband Todd, Cynthia decided it was an appropriate time to introduce her daughter to Will. Well, it was really her daughter’s suggestion, but Cynthia didn’t say no.

All in the Family
Kandi and Todd’s restaurant business seemed to be booming. Just as things began getting into a groove, however, the gang showed up to tell Kandi and Todd that they wanted some changes made. Kandi’s mom thought the hostess area looked to crowded. One of the aunts thought the cooks looked too sloppy. Another wanted the hostesses to have cuter uniforms. Todd assured them after a hiccup with the original manager (who was no longer there), they were securing a new one and not to worry.

Later, Kandi stopped by Chateau Sheree to see if she had talked to her kids about the violence she’d experienced with their father. Kandi was very impressed upon hearing that Sheree had made good on that vow. Then Kandi moved on to tell Sheree that Nene told Kandi that the man Sheree was in love with was a con artist. “Really, Nene? You and Gregg both have mug shots,” Sheree said to the camera, arguing that Nene probably shouldn’t go there. Sheree insisted that her boyfriend would not move in with her directly after leaving jail – but her smile made her words less than convincing.

Porsha reported to her coworker about her first date through the matchmaking service and said there wasn’t a connection there. To be clear, she was flirting with her coworker – though at the same time, she made it clear to the camera that he wasn’t her boss and therefore “nothing was off limits” unless she decided it was. Oh, and BTW, the matchmakers had suggested this particular coworker as a potential match for Porsha, but for whatever reason, she had written off that suggestion.

Cynthia, Marlo, Nene, and Porsha all gathered to see if they could reach some common ground. Porsha said she didn’t understand why any conversation they had always devolved into such a “petty place.” Porsha argued that she supported Nene by tweeting to about her Broadway show and again when she was on Dancing With the Stars. Nene argued that sending tweets was not a sign of true friendship.

“You could give two craps about this. I can completely see it your eyes. I can see it in your gestures and I can see it in your jokes,” Porsha said to Nene. “There’s just nothing there. There’s just nothing there like that.” Nene pretty much rolled her eyes and said, “Got it.” Porsha took a bit of a cracker and Marlo told them both they were “terrible” guests and she was never inviting them over again.

Uniting for a Common Cause
Everyone put aside their differences to unite against domestic violence, though. Under Kenya’s direction, Shamea Morton went first. Next up was Cynthia’s mother. “I know it’s going to be hard for her to do this, but I’m really proud of her,” Cynthia said to the camera. The Bailey Agency founder also chimed in for the video, describing what it was like growing up in a home surrounded by domestic violence. Nene showed up next and explained that the first man who told her he loved her then went on to hit her. “I stayed in that relationship for a very long time and I ended up having a child in that relationship and then eventually I was able to get out,” Nene said. Kandi participated too, urging women, “Leave now, before it’s too late.”

Sheree, however, wasn’t there when it was her time to shoot. “I’ve been in an accident,” she said when Kenya called to find out why she was late. Cynthia’s mom, meanwhile, got extremely upset while recounting pulling a knife on the father of her children. Apparently both Cynthia and her sister had been there to witness that. Cynthia’s mom urged other women to know that they could leave and walk away. Sheree ultimately made it, muscled through her segment, and Kenya thanked all of them for coming together to support the cause.

Tell Us: Do you think Porsha and Nene will ever bury the hatchet?

#EMPIRE: Taraji P. Henson Will Fight For More Magical Movies About Black Women
Taraji P. Henson is on a mission to change Hollywood for the better. The Empire actress stars in and serves as an executive producer on the upcoming action film, Proud Mary and, as she explained in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, this film means more to her than another highlight on her IMDB page. Henson's character, Mary, is an anomaly: It’s not every day we see a 47-year-old Black woman play an ass-kicking assassin.
"When women get older in this business, they tend to send us out to pastures; meanwhile, you have Liam Neeson, however old he is, still kicking ass in Taken and Denzel Washington, who, at any given drop of a dime, will do an action film," she said to THR. It was also noted that Henson is more than a decade younger than both Neeson and Washington.

"Fuck that. If men can do it, why can't we? I feel like women get better as we age. Give us the same chances as you give men," she continued.

Proud Mary is just one of a couple of pivotal roles Henson is set to get off the ground in the near future. She’s also set to portray Ann Atwater, a civil rights activist who fought for Black rights and was instrumental in the war on poverty, in The Best of Enemies. Atwater also formed an unlikely friendship with a former ranked KKK member. "She's very boisterous like Cookie — oh, she's a barracuda — but that story is very relevant and needed now," Henson said, comparing her fiery Empire character to the IRL Atwater.

Speaking of Cookie, Henson also explained to TRH that she’s been fighting hard to get Empire streamed “legally” abroad, despite pushback from bigwig executives. "They weren't even gonna sell Empire overseas — you know what forced them to sell it? The people, because they were streaming it illegally,” she said. “Then [studio executives] go, 'We can make some money,' and all of a sudden they want to sell the show [internationally]. What? You don't even expect us to do well." That experience has also inspired Henson to put the pressure on Proud Mary's distribution team for exposure abroad.
Clearly, Henson is just as fearless IRL as the women she chooses to play on the big screen.

#NEWHIPHOP from The Black Eyed Peas – ‘Street Livin”
Eight years since their latest album, The Black Eyed Peas are back with a new single in the form of “Street Livin’.”

The powerful, socially-conscious track finds will.i.am, apl.de.ap, and Taboo tackling a variety of topics, including the war on drugs and mass incarceration. “Street livin’, caught in a trap,” raps will.i.am over jazzy, boom-bap production. “Guns or books, sell crack or rap / Be like kings or be like pawns / They called us coons, now they call us cons.”

It’s unclear if this is a sign of more music to come from the group, who hasn’t released a new album since 2010’s The Beginning. In 2016, the crew reunited for a revamped version of “Where Is the Love?” Shortly afterwards, they confirmed that Fergie was leaving the group.

Mitt Romney was treated for having Prostate Cancer!
Former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney was treated over the summer after a prostate cancer diagnosis.

An aide said Romney was surgically treated by Dr. Thomas Ahlering at UC Irvine Hospital. The treatment was successful and Romney’s prognosis is good, the person said.
"Last year, Governor Mitt Romney was diagnosed with slow-growing prostate cancer," an aide said. "The cancer was removed surgically and found not to have spread beyond the prostate."
The disclosure comes as Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts, is believed to be preparing to launch a campaign for Senate in Utah. GOP Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch recently announced he won’t seek re-election.
Romney – who owns homes in both states – changed the location on his Twitter account from Massachusetts to Utah the day Hatch announced his retirement.
The 70-year-old Romney hasn’t announced plans to run for the seat, but issued a statement last week praising Hatch.

“I join the people of Utah in thanking my friend, Senator Orrin Hatch for his more than forty years of service to our great state and nation,” Romney said.
Romney served as governor of Massachusetts from 2003 to 2007. He unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for president in 2008. He then was nominated by the Republican Party for president in 2012, but lost to then-President Barack Obama in the general election.

Romney and President Trump have had a tumultuous relationship. Trump endorsed Romney during the 2012 race, but Romney became a vocal critic of Trump during the 2016 election.
Romney was considered by Trump to serve as secretary of state last year, but the president passed him over for now-Secretary Rex Tillerson.

Amid reports of Romney's interest in the Utah seat, Trump publicly encouraged Hatch to seek another term. Since Hatch's announcement, however, Romney and Trump spoke by phone to discuss Hatch and the Senate seat, a White House official said.

‘American Idol’ Reboot Wants To Find More Stars
PASADENA, Calif. (AP) “American Idol” wants to get back in the business of making stars.
The longtime talent show, which is being revived by ABC starting on March 11, faded in ratings and cultural significance over its last seasons on Fox before ending in 2016.
The memorable talents boosted by the show — Jennifer Hudson, Fantasia, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Adam Lambert and the like — were all a part of the show’s heyday a decade earlier.
Ryan Seacrest is back as host of “American Idol,” but it will have three new judges in Luke Bryan, Katie Perry and Lionel Richie. They said on Monday they see themselves as mentors and instructors.

Challenged at a news conference to name the three final winners of “American Idol,” none of the cast members or producers attempted it. Bryan acknowledged that was a weakness of the show’s final years, and judges wanted to mold some memorable talent.

“We are wasting our time if we don’t find another star,” Perry said.
Richie said he’s been asked often to do instructional videos on making it in the music business and he always resisted, wondering how many people would be interested. But he realized he would be able to offer that advice as a judge on “American Idol.”
“A lot of our viewers will see themselves in some of these contestants,” Perry said. “They will relate and they will feel hope … hopefully they can be inspired to achieve their own dreams.”
The judges said they saw themselves in the contestants because they were once there; Perry recalled the struggling days when frozen chicken nuggets from Trader Joe’s was her regular dinner.

Seacrest said the show’s format hasn’t changed. He said the new judging panel is working well together — as opposed to stars circling in their own orbits — and that was an important goal in the reboot.
No one has necessarily emerged as a “bad cop” along the lines of Simon Cowell. Producers indicated that was an outdated view of the show. “I’m blunt but I can’t be mean because I’m a woman,” Perry said.

Much like in the show’s final years, it wouldn’t focus on marginally talented contestants during tryouts so they would be humiliated on television, said Trish Kinane, the show’s executive producer.
The show will air on Sunday and Monday nights for eight weeks, then wind down to just Sunday when a new season of “Dancing With the Stars” premieres. Then, “Idol” will have a two-night finale on May 20 and 21.

The reboot has caused some bad blood: Fox executives haven’t been happy that the show is coming back so soon and said that toward the end, producers wouldn’t work with them to reduce costs that would make the show more viable; producers at “American Idol” didn’t want Fox to cancel it in the first place.

Breitbart has given Steve Bannon THE AX! HE'S FIRED!
Bannon’s exit comes after his quotes in a new tell-all sparked a feud with President Donald Trump.

Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon is out at far-right Breitbart News, the outlet confirmed Tuesday.
“I’m proud of what the Breitbart team has accomplished in so short a period of time in building out a world-class news platform,” he said in a statement. Bannon was a founding member of the board and took over as executive chairman of Breitbart News following founder Andrew Breitbart’s death in 2012.

In a statement Tuesday, Breitbart CEO Larry Solov commemorated Bannon’s role in establishing the site.
“Steve is a valued part of our legacy, and we will always be grateful for his contributions, and what he has helped us to accomplish,” he said.
Bannon is also out as the host of “Breitbart News Daily” on SiriusXM radio, the station confirmed.
Rumors of Bannon’s ouster from the conservative news outlet began Thursday, when The Wall Street Journal reported that the owners of the publication were debating Bannon’s future.

During a press briefing Thursday, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Breitbart should consider firing Bannon.

“I certainly think that it’s something they should look at and consider,” she said.
Bannon’s exit comes after he feuded with President Donald Trump last week. The former executive was quoted saying that a 2016 meeting between Donald Trump Jr., other Trump associates and a Russian lawyer in Trump Tower was “treasonous.”
“The three senior guys in the campaign thought it was a good idea to meet with a foreign government inside Trump Tower in the conference room on the 25th floor — with no lawyers,” Bannon told Michael Wolff in an excerpt from Wolff’s new book, Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House.

“Even if you thought that this was not treasonous, or unpatriotic, or bad shit, and I happen to think it’s all of that, you should have called the FBI immediately,” Bannon added.
The fallout from Bannon’s comments was almost immediate. On Wednesday, Trump’s lawyer sent Bannon a cease-and-desist letter claiming the former aide had “breached the Agreement by, among other things, communicating with author Michael Wolff about Mr. Trump, his family members, and the Company [the campaign], disclosing Confidential Information to Mr. Wolff, and making disparaging statements and in some cases outright defamatory statements to Mr. Wolff about Mr. Trump, his family members.”

Trump said Wednesday that Bannon “has nothing to do with me or my Presidency. When he was fired, he not only lost his job, he lost his mind.” And on Thursday, Trump said he doesn’t speak to Bannon.

Rebekah Mercer, a financial backer of Breitbart, distanced herself from Bannon in an interview with The Washington Post.
“I support President Trump and the platform upon which he was elected,” Mercer told the publication. “My family and I have not communicated with Steve Bannon in many months and have provided no financial support to his political agenda, nor do we support his recent actions and statements.”
Bannon left his job as White House strategist in August, telling Bloomberg Businessweek that he would fight for Trump “against his opponents ― on Capitol Hill, in the media, and in corporate America.”

“If there’s any confusion out there, let me clear it up: I’m leaving the White House and going to war,” he told the outlet at the time.

GOOD RIDDANCE!

‘Roseanne’ Reboot Shows A Family ‘That Is Divided By Politics’
The original “Roseanne” aired from 1988 to 1997 and was the most-watched show on U.S. television in 1989 and 1990. It featured a blue-collar family, the Conners, with overweight parents struggling to get by in the fictional town of Lanford, Illinois.
The series was praised for its realistic portrayal of a working-class family in the United States, and Barr said she wanted the revival to also present a true-to-life portrait of a country in which half the voters choe Trump.

“It was watching working-class people who elected Trump,” Barr said. “I felt that was very real and something that needed to be discussed.”
Barr herself has spoken in support of Trump, but the show’s producers said the series does not advocate a political stance.

Here is no agenda on anybody’s part but to get honest feelings out there within a family that’s relatable,” executive producer Bruce Helford said.
Many original cast members returned for the revival including Goodman, who plays Roseanne’s husband Dan, and Sara Gilbert, who portrays daughter Darlene.

Gilbert said the new episodes show a family “that is divided by politics but still filled with love.”
The revival will also deal with topical issues such as opioid addiction and access to healthcare, Helford said.
Michael Fishman, who plays Roseanne’s son D.J., said the show lets the characters debate important issues in a way that does not always happen in today’s real-life society.
“We have the conversation about why we don’t agree,” Fishman said. “That dialogue is kind of missing.”

“Roseanne” is the latest hit show from the 1980s and 199Os to be revived, on the heels of comedy “Will & Grace” and supernatural crime drama “Twin Peaks,” both of which returned to television in 2017.
