SLAY MOMMA! AT 92 Cicely Tyson Covers Elle Magazine’s ‘Women In Hollywood’ Issue
Elle Magazine‘s ‘Women In Hollywood’ issue will be on stands October 17th, however, they have already started to release their covers via their Instagram page. While they had consistent cover models, like Jennifer Lawrence, it was nice to see them refresh and pay homage to other actresses in their careers. The one cover that stood out the most (and the only one in Black and white) is 92-year-old Cicely Tyson.
Cicely shares the importance of learning your craft and not just relying on your beauty, “When all else fails, you will land on that, and that alone.” The Harlem born actress, who has been cast in movies and films since 1951 and was nominated for the Academy and Golden Globe Award for Best Actress as Rebecca Morgan in Sounder (1972), still has a thriving career over 65 years later.
Also Jennifer Lawrence, Margot Robbie, Laura Dern, Tessa Thompson, Jessica Chastain, Cicely Tyson, Riley Keough and Kathleen Kennedy earned strong individual covers, but spoke in unison on themes about emboldening fellow women in the industry, expanding the scope of female characters on TV and in film and taking action to move the needle in their own careers.
#RHoA: NeNe Leaks Goes off on Kim Zolciak's Daughter
The Real Housewives of Atlanta hasn't officially returned for its 10th season yet but the claws are already out. Besides the bad blood between Kim Zolciak and Kenya Moore, Kim's feud with NeNe Leakes appears to have been resurrected after NeNe slammed Kim's eldest daughter Brielle Biermann on social media.
On Thursday, NeNe called Brielle "racist" on Instagram following an old Snapchat video of the 20-year-old in NeNe's home, where roaches can be seen on the floor.
"We don't have roaches! If you found 1, u brought it with u or it fell outta yo funky p--y!," Nene wrote as she reposted Brielle's video on her Instagram. "Please know I will get You all the way together when you start f-king wit me and mine! Go somewhere and let the air outta those fake lips, fake titties and fake ass because you will never be @kylejenner [sic] Yo trashy mama should have taught you better!"
"My home is Brand New but you guys were so jealous of it, you couldn't even give a compliment," NeNe added. "You had to stoop so low and be so disgusting #racisttrash #jealous."
NeNe, who is making her comeback to RHOA after a two-year absence, also alluded to Brielle's video on another cryptic post.
"On the way back to the A, I fell asleep thinking about how imma live in my ROACH infested brand new home," she shared. "#jealousprejudicebitch #disgusting #howlowwillyougo #ohithoughtyoudidntseeme #pottymouthtrashychildren #learnedbehavior #donteverspeaktome #thisiswhyiwouldntdoashowwithyou #youwillneverwinthis #blackpeopleneedtostopsupportingtheprejudice."
Kim, on the other hand, has come to her daughter's defense and maintained she will take the higher road.
Are you Team NeNe or Team Kim?

Syleena Johnson has teamed up with her legendary father, soul singer Syl Johnson on the collaborative album, Rebirth of Soul, due out November 10 via Shanachie Entertainment.
The album consists of Syleena’s searing interpretations of classic R&B songs, mainly from the ’50s and ’60s, recorded with live musicians from their hometown of Chicago.
“The inspiration behind Rebirth of Soul is my father,” says Syleena. “I wanted to honor him and classic soul music in a time when auto tune and electronic beats reign supreme. #DOGOODERS: Michael Jordan Donates $7M To Fund Family Clinics In Charlotte
Michael Jordan is DOING BIG THINGS!
The NBA legend has donated $7 million to fund two family clinics in at-risk and underserved communities in Charlotte, North Carolina.
via NBA.com: A long-standing partner with the Charlotte Hornets organization, Novant Health has officially received a $7 million donation on behalf of the team’s Owner and Chairman, Michael Jordan. This gift – one of the largest ever made by Jordan – will fund two Novant Health Michael Jordan Family Clinics in Charlotte, which are expected to open in late 2020. These facilities will aim to target at-risk and underserved communities in the area.
“I am proud to partner with Novant Health to bring critical health services to underserved areas of Charlotte and the thousands of North Carolinians with limited access to health care,” said Jordan. “Through my years of working with Novant Health, I have been impressed with their approach and their commitment to the community. It is my hope that these clinics will help provide a brighter and healthier future for the children and families they serve.”
According to recent census data, more than 100,000 Charlotte residents do not have health insurance. Those in underserved communities face particular challenging circumstances including difficulties accessing preventative and primary and mental health services and a lack of comprehensive approach to health care.
Within the first five years, the Novant Health Michael Jordan Family Clinics are expected to care for 35,000 children and adults who currently lack access to primary or preventative care or who also use the emergency room for non-urgent medical needs. These clinics could also decrease emergency room utilization by 68 percent and hospitalization by 37 percent for target residents in addition to providing improved patient care, better community wellness and reduced costs in medical care.
“As a longtime partner, we are thrilled that Michael Jordan continues to support Novant Health and our mission to improve the health of our communities, one person at a time,” said Carl Armato, president and CEO of Novant Health. “This gift will transform the lives of thousands of families and children living in poverty-stricken communities. We are thankful to Michael for his generosity. The gift will remove barriers to high-quality health care in some of the most vulnerable communities.”
Along with education, commitment to military and the fight against hunger, wellness is one of the four major community pillars the Charlotte Hornets organization focuses on bringing positive and lasting change to. Through this donation, Michael Jordan and Novant Health are continuing to invest in the health of Charlotte and supporting the ongoing efforts of the larger community to provide quality affordable health care to all local residents.
Good for him!

Roger Goodell sends warning Letter To NFL Teams, Believes ‘Everyone Should Stand’
You players really are 40 Million Dollar slaves!
(HuffPo) In an effort to end the ongoing debate around standing or kneeling during the national anthem prior to NFL games, Commissioner Roger Goodell wrote a letter to team executives saying the league needs “to move past this controversy” and that a plan for doing so would be discussed at a league meeting next week.
Goodell offered no details on the plan, but said “like many of our fans, we believe that everyone should stand” during the anthem, and that he wanted the matter resolved “together with our players.”
Goodell made only a vague reference to why the athletes are kneeling ― in protest of police brutality, particularly against unarmed people of color. Instead, he praised players and owners “who have done the hard work over the past year to listen, understand and attempt to address the underlying issues within their communities” ― without specifying what he later termed “critical social issues.”
He asserted that the kneeling “is threatening to erode the unifying power of our game, and is now dividing us, and our players, from many fans across the country.”
“Like many of our fans, we believe that everyone should stand for the National Anthem,” he said. “It is an important moment in our game. We want to honor our flag and our country, and our fans expect that of us. We also care deeply about our players and respect their opinions and concerns about critical social issues. The controversy over the Anthem is a barrier to having honest conversations and making real progress on the underlying issues. We need to move past this controversy, and we want to do that together with our players.”
The letter was sent to all 32 teams.

Protests during the national anthem began last year when then-San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick kneeled while it played. Although Kaepernick, now a free agent, remains unsigned by any other team, many more players have taken a knee in solidarity ― an act that has led to harsh backlash by some, including President Donald Trump.
During a rally last month in Alabama, Trump said of the kneeling protests: “Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field right now. Out! He’s fired. He’s fired!’”
That statement acted as a catalyst for the even more players to protest, and spurred some NFL owners to release statements disavowing the president’s commentary.
But Goodell’s letter comes after Vice President Mike Pence last Sunday abruptly left a game in Indianapolis after several players on the visiting 49ers kneeled during the anthem.
Pence tweeted that he left because neither he nor Trump will “dignify any event that disrespects our soldiers, our Flag, or our National Anthem.” Minutes later, Trump tweeted that he had instructed Pence to leave the game if players knelt ― leading to speculation the vice president’s appearance was a “political stunt.”
Later Sunday, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he expected all players on his team to stand during the anthem, and that any member of the squad who “disrespects the flag” would be benched.
Goodell ended his letter by saying he looks “forward to a full and open discussion of these issues” when the team owners meet in New York.
“The NFL is at its best when we ourselves are unified,” he wrote.
