As one of the few black Oscar-winning actresses, Her momentous rise through the industry is the stuff of Hollywood legend. Straight out of Yale School of Drama in 2013, she was cast in Steve McQueen’s 12 Years a Slave, for which she won an Oscar. In fact, given her vast cultural reach, it’s hard to believe Nyong’o has only been in a handful of movies since, and shown her face in just two (most recently, the heartwarming Disney flick Queen of Katwe). She is back on screens (albeit as an alien) in the new Star Wars film, The Last Jedi, which hits cinemas in December. Yet her presence on the red carpet has won her the adulation of the fashion world and a coveted Lancôme ambassadorship, the first black actress in that role at the cosmetics brand. “I feel very privileged,” she says, enunciating each word thoughtfully. “It has given me the luxury of choice; I get to choose and work on things I can’t stop thinking about. That is how I choose a project — if I read the script and after I leave it, the character lingers in my head. If I am not terrified of the character, then it is probably not for me.”
She isn’t afraid to talk about the lack of diversity in Tinseltown. In fact, as the face of Lancôme she’s made it her mission. She talks to Anna Silman about why the answer isn’t just playing more African roles.

Make way for a new Georgia peach! Eva Marcille is joining the season 10 cast of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Bravo confirms!
"I'm so excited to join NeNe [Leakes] and the ladies for the 10th season of RHOA," the model, 32, exclusively tells Us Magazine. "Atlanta and America, get ready!"
Marcille won cycle 3 of America's Next Top Model in 2004 before kicking off her acting career. She starred as Tyra Hamilton on The Young and the Restless from 2008 to 2009 and also appeared in movies including Crossover, I Think I Love My Wife and Sister Code.
The actress shares a 3-year-old daughter named Marley Rae with her ex-boyfriend Kevin McCall, from whom she split in early 2015.
Season 10 of RHOA looks juicer than ever. A recently released trailer gave fans a first glimpse at Kenya Moore's secret wedding to businessman Marc Daly, Cynthia Bailey and Sherée Whitfield's new men, Kandi Burruss' reunion with her Xscape groupmates and Porsha Williams' lifestyle as a "baby vegan." The new season also marks the return of original cast members Leakes and Kim Zolciak.
#EMPIRE: The Ratings are in for EMPIRE and STAR!
Fox’s new Wednesday combination of “Empire” and “Star” proved strong enough to give the network a win for the night in the key demo, according to Nielsen overnight data.
Airing at 8 p.m., “Empire’s” Season 4 premiere averaged a 2.4 rating in adults 18-49 and 6.9 million total viewers. That is down by close to 40 percent in both measures compared to the Season 3 premiere (4.2, 10.9 million), but approximately even with the Season 3 finale (2.5, 6.9 million). “Star’s” Season 2 premiere at 9 p.m. averaged a 1.8 and 5.5 million viewers. That is down by close to 20 percent in both measures from the first season’s premiere (2.2, 6.7 million), but up by approximately 40 percent in both measures compared to the Season 1 finale (1.3, 3.9 million) and by approximately 40 percent in the demo and 30 percent in total viewers compared to the Season 1 Live+Same Day average overall (1.3, 4.2 million)

Tamar Braxton has unleashed her fifth and reportedly final album, Bluebird of Happiness.
Executive produced by Braxton, her husband Vincent Herbert, and Rodney Jerkins, the album has spawned the singles “My Man” and “Blind,” which is currently the most added song on Urban AC radio. Yo Gotti is the sole guest on the 11-track LP, appearing on the bouncy “Hol’ Up.”
This fall, Tamar will support the album joining Xscape and Monica on “The Great Xscape Tour,” which is set to kick off Nov. 22 in Richmond.

#FREEATLAST: O.J. Simpson released from Nevada prison after nine years for robbery
The Juice is out and doesn’t plan on going back.
O.J. Simpson left a Nevada prison a free man early Sunday, just minutes after he became eligible for release on parole.
Without fanfare, the 70-year-old signed his release papers and walked out to a waiting driver in a dark parking lot outside the Lovelock Correctional Center, around midnight local time, according to the state’s Department of Corrections officials.
Lovelock staff told Simpson the same thing they say during every farewell to a prisoner, “Don’t come back.”
We know O.J. Simpson will be out of prison, but that’s about it
“I don’t intend do,” he replied, according to DOC spokeswoman Brooke Keast.
He left the facility still wearing standard prison garb: a blue jeans, a denim jacket and white tennis shoes.
The state released Simpson under the cover of night to avoid a media frenzy, Keast said.

Queens Woman Charged With Murder For Illegal Butt Injections
A Queens woman has been charged with murder after allegedly causing the death of a Harlem woman via an illegal butt enhancement procedure. Back in July, Latesha Bynum, 31, got butt injections and she fell ill the same day, passing away two weeks later.
Reports DNAInfo New York: Allison Spence, 44, of Queens on Thursday was charged with manslaughter and unauthorized practice of a profession in the July death of Latesha Bynum, 31.
Bynum on July 15 had received silicone butt implants at an unlicensed facility at 319 E. 21st St., then began experiencing dizziness and chest pains at her Harlem home later that night, police said.
She was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital in Harlem, where she died nearly two weeks later after being taken off life support, according to authorities.
The Office of the Medical Examiner this month ruled the death a homicide, and determined the cause to be complications from silicone butt injections.
The late Bynum met with a “nurse” at a Dunkin’ Donuts that was reportedly used a waiting room by the person who performed the fatal procedure.
The injections occurred at a residential building on E. 21st St. near Stuyvesant Town where Spence, who seems to have no medical training, acted as a nurse. .
However, the physician has not yet been arrested but the cops are still looking for him.

Abel Cedeno Speaks Out After Murdering His Alleged Bully
Abel Cedeno, the student who fatally stabbed his alleged bully in class on Wednesday, is remorseful and says he “just snapped.”
The 18-year-old spoke with New York Daily News from Rikers Island, where he is currently being held without bail and is on suicide watch.
“I guess I just snapped. I didn’t mean to kill him,” he confessed.

“They bully me because I’m different,” said Cedeno, 18, who was charged with murder in the Wednesday morning attack inside a Bronx high school classroom. “I’m not like the other guys. My voice is higher.”
The soft-spoken suspect conversed in an emotionless tone about the verbal and occasionally physical abuse inflicted on him since middle school over his sexuality.
Fellow students slurred him as a “f—-t,” while angrier classmates slammed Cedeno into hallway lockers, he said.
Family friends claim Cedeno was the target of ethnic and anti-gay slurs since the school year began three weeks ago. But police said neither of the youths stabbed Wednesday had any prior beef with Cedeno.
“I will hold their memory in my heart,” Cedeno said of McRee, who died shortly after the stabbing, and Laboy, who remained hospitalized.
Cedeno, who identifies as bisexual, wore a gray jumpsuit as he answered questions about the first slaying inside a city school since 1993.
At one point, he removed his glasses and wiped at his eyes.
The accused killer said he was unsure if the stabbing incident really happened after he walked into the school principal’s office and surrendered the knife.
“I was having a panic attack,” he said.
Cedeno, who brought the switchblade online about two weeks prior to the bloody school stabbing spree, insisted that he made the purchase “to protect myself.”
He was arrested after stabbing McRee and Laboy during a history class at the Urban Assembly School for Wildlife Conservation in East Tremont, cops said.
Cedeno recounted a somewhat rootless life, bouncing between homes and a shelter in Queens and the Bronx and attending at least seven different schools over the years.
This was his fifth year at the “Zoo School,” where he was repeating the 12th grade.
Though classes only started on Sept. 7, Cedeno estimated he had already missed 10 days. His father is also battling lung cancer, and his mom remains trapped in Puerto Rico by Hurricane Maria.

Woman Who Tattooed Her Eyeball May Lose Her Eye, Warns Others Against It
The Woman who tattooed her eyeball with purple ink may lose her eye and now she’s warning others against the procedure.
Three weeks ago, Catt Gallinger got a Sclera Tattoo (whites of eye tattoo) and things went terribly wrong resulting in her seeing a special to try to save her eye.
Catt took to Facebook to share photos of her gruesome eye and a stern warning to others.
So this was done by Eric Brown three weeks ago. As it stands I will have to see a specialist and am at risk of being blind if it doesn’t get corrected.
This was caused by undiluted ink, over injection, not enough/smaller injections sights. There are multiple people who can attest that my aftercare was good and any other part of what I am saying.
I am NOT sharing this with you to cause trouble, I am sharing this to warn you to research who you get your procedures by as well as how the procedure should be properly done.
I have been to the hospital three times, I had no furry pets to cause any dander, and I wash my hands every time I do anything with my eye, both before and afterwards.
I was on antibiotic drops for the first week and a half and have been on steroid drops for four days now, with little success at bringing down the internal swelling. The external swelling lasted for almost a week.
The photos show the day of (purple drop), the day after(swollen shut) and now three weeks later. I will add more throughout the process.
Just please be cautious who you get your mods from and do your research. I don’t want this to happen to anyone else.
I will be posting updates during the process publicly on my wall.
With all due respect,– I don’t need a warning not to tattoo my eyeballs.
I would assume that’s just common sense.
With that being said…I wish her well and I hope she won’t have to lose an eye as a result of a poor choice.
