(via essence) Kandi Burruss has been working for 25 years. No, let's rephrase that: Kandi Burruss has been beasting the game for almost three decades.
While Generation X may know the 41-year-old for her role on Real Housewives of Atlanta (RHOA), she's established a career as a chart-topping R&B singer, lucrative songwriter and successful entrepreneur. But despite her many accomplishments, she is humble as pie about her first ever ESSENCE cover.
"I don't ever want to feel like I've made it," she told ESSENCE. "When people feel like they've made it, they're on the first step to falling off."
With the highs of success, have come lows —two brought on very publicly by women close to her. The first came from fellow Xscape member, Tamika Scott who shared a nasty rumor on the radio about Burruss sleeping her way to success. They've since reconciled and toured together, making one of their first concert stops at the ESSENCE Festival last July.
The second upset was between fellow RHOA co-star, Phaedra Parks. On the show Parks alleged that Burruss was planning on drugging and raping co-star Porsha Williams— an insane lie.
"I honestly had a lot of times when I just cried," she said. "There were moments when I wanted to say, 'You know what? I'm done with this!' I was vindicated in front of millions, which helped me feel comfortable again."
Despite it all, Burruss presses forward and is focused on being the best for her family.
"Some of us are doers and some of us are dreamers," she said. "I'm both."
The Real Housewives of Atlanta returns November 5 at 9 p.m. on Bravo and Xscape: Still Kickin' It premieres November 5 and 9 p.m. on Bravo.

#RHoA: Eva Marcille makes her filming debut on R.H.o.A!
It’s highly likely that we’ll see an appearance or two from Eva Marcille on Real Housewives of Atlanta. Back in July, there were rumors that BRAVO producers were interested in potentially bringing the the America’s Top Model alum on to the show.
She’s not an official cast member, but from what we’re told, Eva will make a few cameos.
On Friday (September 22nd), we spotted Eva (who is friends with NeNe Leakes) at Kandi Burruss’ cover shoot bash.
#EMPIRE: What’s up with Hakeem Lyon this season?
Its just ONE MORE DAY until we’re all back in awe of EMPIRE! But here’s a little tidbit on Hakeem Lyon! Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) is struggling to be a single father, without his father around to guide him, after making an “unholy alliance” with Diana DuBois (Phylicia Rashad). “We’re going to find out what that alliance is about and what she’s trying to extract from him,” Chaiken promises, adding that things are further complicated for the youngest Lyon given that his baby’s mother Anika (Grace Byers) is in jail.
#NEWMUSIC from Tamar Braxton – 'Blind'
Tamar Braxton continues to give her loyal fans another preview of her upcoming album, Bluebird of Happiness. Following the uptempo, feel-good “Pick Me Up,” the R&B songstress returns with the compelling ballad “Blind.”
In line with the album’s lead single “My Man,” the singer struggles to face reality and come to terms with her lover’s infidelity. Unable to fully let him go, Braxton chooses to look the other way, while praying he will come back.
“Where do you go? / I will never know / You just leave me here confused / Down, depressed and feeling blue / I convinced myself that you’ll be back in due time,” she sings. “I’d rather go blind than to see you with her tonight / I’m done with your lies / But I can’t say goodbye, so I’d rather go blind.”
Marking her first official independent release since parting ways with Epic Records, Bluebird of Happiness is due September 29. The album is available for pre-order now, and you can preview it here.

#HIPHOPNEWS: Cardi B Celebrates No. 1 Single: ‘BODAK YELLOW'
After becoming the first solo female rapper to top the Billboard Hot 100 in 19 years with “Bodak Yellow,” Cardi B celebrated her milestone achievement.
At a surprise party hosted by Atlantic Records in New York on Monday (Sept. 25), the Bronx rapper was presented with a platinum plaque and a Christian Louboutin cake in honor of her now-famous “bloody shoes” lyric. The former reality television star opened up about the accomplishment, which makes her the first solo female rapper since Lauryn Hill to top the chart.
She continued by acknowledging the prestigiousness of the Hot 100, which she says she was not privy to before entering the chart. “I don’t really know how the music industry works,” she explained. “All I feel is, ‘Well, if everybody listens to the song, it’s poppin’.’ No! If it’s not on the Billboards, then it really don’t matter.”
During her speech, Cardi also sang Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do,” which previously held the No. 1 spot for three weeks. “Everybody posted so I could go No. 1 without even me asking,” she said. “I never asked them. They just did it voluntarily. Every day, harassing their followers, like, ‘Make sure you download and stream ‘Bodak Yellow.’ And look what you made me do, look what you made me do!”
Taking to Instagram, an emotional Cardi went on to explain the magnitude of the win. “What a day,” she wrote. “I feel like it’s my Graduation,Birthday and prom at the same time ! You see Atlantic wanted me to take a flight in the AM for a meeting and to pick up my Platinum plaque…Didn’t know it was a big surprise with my family ,friends, Gang and the girls that I used to work good and bad nights with back in Sues Rendezvous.Also fans and people that been supporting me since day one ,All of them there for ME!! Thank you I’m beyond happy!! #BARDIGANG.”
Cardi is gearing up to release her debut album. Initially due in October, the LP has since been delayed. “Every single time I think, ‘I got all the 10 songs,’ I’m like, ‘I’m buggin’. These ain’t it.’ It’s just like, ‘Damn!’ I’m competing with myself,” she recently told “The Breakfast Club.”
However, J. Cole offered the rising star some advice. “Don’t put all that pressure on your album,” he recommended. “You already won. Just drop & repeat.” She later replied: “Is this real :’)Son my heart is smiling 😌Well who am I not to take J cole advice?”

The woman at the center of the Kevin Hart sex tape scandal has revealed that she slept with the married Hollywood star three times during a three day blow-out in Las Vegas in August- and he didn't mention his wife once.
In a interview with DailyMailTV, Montia Sabbag tells all about the trip and the ensuing sextortion plot, which saw cheating Hart publicly apologize to his pregnant wife Eniko Parrish and his two children for a 'bad error in judgment.'
And the 26-year-old exclusively reveals for the first time that the sex tape was filmed during the day when Hart was sober, not when he was drunk late at night.
Sabbag says she and Hart became 'intimate' hours after she jetted in to Sin City with the star on a private jet. The pair, who traveled with a group of mutual friends, flew to Nevada from LA on August 19 and partied for three days and nights.
The aspiring actress claims she didn't know the comedian was married nor did he tell her that he was. He took an immediate liking to her - paying the pretty brunette a lot of attention and ultimately having sex with her three times.
Sabbag said: 'I was intimate with Kevin three times in the course of maybe three days. It was fun,' she recalls in the interview airing Monday.
'We just get along, we get each other, he's funny, I'm funnier. We had a connection, we had chemistry. We clicked.

PENNYWISE WILL BE BACK: ‘IT’ Sequel Gets A Release Date
Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema have announced their IT sequel will arrive on September 6, 2019.
The adaptation of Stephen King‘s classic novel spanked the box office’s behind to become the biggest horror movie ever raking in $266,096,375 in less than three weeks.
Deadline reports the Andy Muschietti-directed sequel will focus on “the Loser’s Club, 27 years later, when they’ve grown up and away. But then a devastating phone call brings them back.”
I screamed my way through a screening of It and survived. So, I’ll definitely be on time for the sequel.
#OMG Cops Shoot T-Boz’s Cousin 17-20 Times!
The cousin of Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins was shot 17-20 times by police and the singer is begging her 430k followers for prayers and facts.
The TLC singer took to Twitter to share the heartbreaking news, writing: “My Is Broken! U Think The Tragedies That Happen Across The World Wouldn’t Happen2 U At Least U Hope They Won’t! But To Us It Did.”
The 47-year-old went on to describe exactly what happened between law enforcement and her family member during the tragic shooting. “The cops shot my cousin 17-20 times KNOWING he was mentally ill Their Stories R diff EVERYTIME Making him out 2 be something he’s NOT,” she wrote.
“Pray for My Family and please ask for TRUE FACTS AND JUSTICE,” she begged of her fans. “This Country is Tainted PERIOD.”
Watkins concluded by suggesting it “Be MANDATORY THAT EVERY COP WEARS A BODY CAM That Way No He Said She Said Bull & LIES CAN HAPPEN.”

Trump DISRESPECTED Puerto Rico For ‘Broken Infrastructure & Massive Debt’ instead of Offering Help!
President Donald Trump on Monday briefly paused his attacks on protests at NFL games to address the unfolding humanitarian crisis in Puerto Rico.
The island is in the middle of a massive humanitarian crisis after it was slammed by Hurricane Maria last week. As many of Puerto Rico’s 3.4 million residents are without power and clean water, roads remain impassable and cellular service largely remains out, Gov. Ricardo Rosselló on Monday pleaded with Washington to send more federal aid.
In his comments Monday night, Trump insisted that deliveries of food, water and medical supplies are being handled well and instead pointed at the island’s ongoing financial problems.
He tweeted:
Trump also didn’t use his social media presence to encourage his followers to donate to Puerto Ricans in need. (If you’re looking for ways to help, you can find some here.)
In the hours leading up to the three tweets about Puerto Rico, the president continued his attacks on NFL protests and slammed CNN as “fake news.” Immediately after the tweets, he attacked Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) for failing to support the latest GOP attempts to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
'Dancing With the Stars' Recap Week# 2
It’s only week two of the quest for the Mirrorball, but plenty of celebrities were already suffering from the physical strain. Still, they danced on, performing the first of two dances for the week. While some couples made great strides forward, others continued to struggle. Here’s how it all went down.
The Good
Frankie Muniz broke his back eight years ago, but his injury was acting up again due to the strain from rehearsals. He managed to push through and deliver a tango with Witney Carson that wowed the judges. “You are like an explosion together,” Carrie Ann Inaba declared. Len Goodman, however, thought their routine was “too aggressive.” In the end, they ended up with a 23, putting them near the top for the night.
Tying with them were Sasha Pieterse and Gleb Savchenko. Her parents, who had been professional ballroom dancers themselves, stopped by the dance studio to tell Sasha that everything Gleb had been saying to her in terms of what she needed to fix was correct. Sasha did not appreciate that very much, but she did take everyone’s advice to heart. Len said their foxtrot blew him away, while Carrie Ann declared that she was a star. Bruno Tonioli complained about Sasha’s arms, but it didn’t bother him enough to ding her score much.
Nikki Bella and Artem Chigvintsev were close behind with a 21 for their waltz. Nikki performed in honor of her grandmother, which everyone thought was very sweet even though they all agreed she still had some work to do on her form. Lindsey Stirling and Mark Ballas also snapped up a 21 with their kooky butterfly-themed quickstep. Bruno again complained about her arms (he was really the arm police tonight), but all of the judges loved how creative the dance was.
Debbie Gibson and Alan Bersten, Drew Scott and Emma Slater, and Terrell Owens and Cheryl Burke all landed just behind them with 20s. (Drew had pulled his hamstring, which had cut into rehearsal time, so he did pretty well all things considered.)
The Bad
Nick Lachey and his wife, Vanessa, have a deal that whoever gets the lower score has to give the other a foot rub, so the stakes are high! Nick and Peta Murgatroyd hoped that he would move from the middle of the pack up toward the top this week, but that didn’t really happen. Peta’s dress got caught during their foxtrot and they never quite recovered after that. Carrie Ann thought Nick was still too stiff but said she saw improvement and Vanessa cried tears of joy while watching her husband perform. Still, he only earned a 19, which put him near the bottom.
Tying with him were Derek Fisher and Sharna Burgess. They too performed a foxtrot that underwhelmed the judges. Carrie Ann thought Derek was dancing too “small,” as if he were trying to swerve between other players on the basketball court. Len said he had to work on his finesse. Fortunately, Derek’s mom stopped in to tell him to tuck his butt in and pretty much stole the show.
The Best
Three couples tied for first tonight with 24s. Jordan Fisher and Lindsay Arnold delivered what Bruno called a “true ballroom sparkler,” though Len thought it was too “staccato” and “sharp” at times. Still, the judges all said he was a talented dancer and one to watch. With his musical theater background (he was in Hamilton for a while) that’s hardly a shock, but Victoria Arlen was a bit of a surprise. Victoria (who was paralyzed for a decade and still has no feeling in her legs) performed a tango with Val Chmerkovskiy that blew the judges away. Carrie Ann was completely amazed at her technical ability and everyone loved her general upbeat vibe.
Perhaps the biggest surprise of the night, though, was Vanessa Lachey and her partner, Maks Chmerkovskiy, who performed a foxtrot that Carrie Ann called “liquid gold.” It was obvious last week that Vanessa is a talented dancer, but she really took it to another level tonight. Bruno compared her to a cross between Ava Gardner and Jessica Rabbit. Oh, and she had sliced off one of her toenails during rehearsal, which made her performance even more impressive. (Fortunately, her toe was tucked away in her dance shoe.)
The Gone
Then it was time for the first elimination of the season. In her video package, Barbara Corcoran had broken down in tears recalling her childhood. She had always been considered the dumb one in class because she is dyslexic, but she said this is what drove her to succeed. She worked hard to deliver a dance that was better than last week’s, but it wasn’t better by much. The judges said she looked more relaxed, which she attributed to her “love affair” with Keo Motsepe. They received a 17 and shortly thereafter, they became the first couple to be eliminated this season.
“How am I gonna live without him?” Barbara said. “It was such an honor and probably the most exciting thing I’ve done in my whole life.” Tom Bergeron suggested a dance-off between Barbara and Charo. No comment.

Wendy Williams husband, Kevin Hunter, has been creeping for more than a decade!
Wendy has been pretty open about the fact that her husband had an affair years ago, but The Daily Mail reports that he’s been keeping another mistress for quite some time.
Kevin has been involved with a 32-year-old massage therapist named Sharina Hudson for at least 10 years!
According to reports, he splits his time between Sharina and Wendy because, as a source familiar with the situation said, he’s “in love” with both of them.
“Kevin is with Sharina three or four times a week, often staying over,” the insider dished. “They go to the gym together, they go out to restaurants together as if they’re a normal couple.”
They added, “But then he goes home to Wendy as if everything is normal there, too. He’s living a double life.”
Most recently, Kevin and Sharina were spotted out together right after he and Wendy returned from their latest beach vacation.
And that’s not all: Sharina has a house just nine miles down the road from the home he shares with Wendy and their son. The Daily Mail reports that had been staying in Kevin’s apartment 30 miles from his place with Wendy since 2015. Neighbors were familiar with them as a couple, and reporters for the Daily Mail spotted them running errands. However, Sharina has since moved closer to Kevin, and pictures show that his name is on the mailbox.
Although Kevin has brought the situation closer to Wendy, he and Sharina go out on dates.
“Kevin and Sharina do go out in public together, there’s a steakhouse Kevin likes to go to, but they mainly stay in the house and hang out,” the insider said, revealing how they keep their relationship a secret in public.
“Kevin isn’t a touchy-feely person so you’d never see them kissing or hugging in public and if they ever see anybody she knows the drill, he introduces her as his sister.”
They summed it up, stating, “Kevin has pretty much trained her so she knows what to do.”

Sterling K. Brown Strips Down For A Shirtless Tractor Ride On “Ellen”
The cast of This Is Us paid a visit to The Ellen Degeneres Show on Monday to promote their upcoming second season, but Sterling K. Brown got some extra attention in celebration of his first time on the Ellen stage.
The Emmy winner appeared on the talkshow alongside cast mates Milo Ventimiglia, who had to strip off his shirt the last time he visited Ellen, and Mandy Moore, who rode a toy tractor on her last appearance.
DeGeneres decided to combine the two acts in honor of Brown’s inaugural visit, having him follow in his costars’ footsteps by riding a mini tractor while shirtless.
The sight of Sterling stripping off his shirt was breathtaking, quite frankly, so it was a relief to add the toy tractor to help ease the tension.
