The Daily Buzz For Sept 20 ☕📰☕

Yara Shahidi looks BEAUTIFUL in this glittery Prada gown at the 2017 Emmys!
Ah, to be 17 and in Prada! Yara Shahidi made all of our prom dress dreams come true at the 2017 Emmys, rocking a truly exquisite design courtesy of the famed designer house.
Representing her hit ABC show, Black-ish, which was nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series, Yara made waves in an exquisite, nearly-nude number. With a pretty V-neckline and ruffled shoulders, the dress fell into a beautifully feminine silhouette. A textured gold belt defined the waistline, while ample tulle fabric at the skirt made this dress even more romantic. The crowning detail here, however, proved to be the vibrant, green sequined foliage details.
While the 2018 prom season is still a way out, we’d advise that those of you attending start taking notes. Because while this exact Prada gown might not make waves at your prom, we guarantee a few very similar versions of the dress will. After all, the red carpet is the birthplace of all great formal dress trends, so you might as well get ahead of the curve.
As for the beauty department, Yara’s got a few suggestions for gorgeous prom makeup as well. The 17-year-old kept it classic with a killer cat eye, perfectly arched eyebrows, glowing skin, and nude lipstick. Because when you’ve got a dress as eye-catching as this number, simple and refined makeup is the only way to go.
C’mon, look how much fun she’s having rocking this dress.
Yara is no stranger to crushing it on the carpet, as she’s had quite a few sartorial hits in the past. Still, the Harvard-bound actress just continues to prove herself a style star on the rise, and we’ll continue to look out for her incredible ensembles.

BREAKING! Powerful Earthquake Strikes Mexico, Killing Over 100!
MEXICO CITY (NYT)— A powerful earthquake struck Mexico on Tuesday afternoon, toppling buildings, rattling the capital and sending people flooding into the streets for the second time in just two weeks.
By night, nearly 140 people had been reported killed across the country, including scores in the state of Morelos, close to the epicenter of the quake, and dozens here in the capital, Mexico City. But the figure was expected to climb, especially because rescuers were still frantically digging out people trapped beneath mounds of rubble.
The earthquake hit shortly after 1 p.m. about 100 miles from Mexico City. It registered a preliminary magnitude of 7.1, causing heavy and prolonged shaking in the capital.

More than 40 buildings and other structures in Mexico City collapsed, including at least two schools, officials said, crushing cars and trapping some people inside. Emergency workers and ordinary citizens raced to the site of downed office and apartment buildings, lifting rubble with their hands in an  attempt to free anyone stuck underneath.
Tuesday’s earthquake struck on the 32nd anniversary of another major disaster: the 1985 quake that killed as many as 10,000 people in Mexico.
It also came less than two weeks after the most powerful earthquake in Mexico in a century, an 8.1 magnitude quake that killed at least 90 people, destroyed thousands of homes and was felt by tens of millions of people.

Residents in Mexico City, having just experienced shaking from that quake, said the tremors on Tuesday were far worse.
“It’s like Sodom and Gomorrah, like God is angry at us,” said Jorge Ortiz Diaz, 66, a government employee who was assisting with the rescues on Tuesday, his eyes filling with tears. “Now is the moment when solidarity begins.”
In parts of the city, the wreckage was evident immediately, including damage to the main airport. Shattered glass and the splintered edges of buildings spilled onto sidewalks. Nearly all residents of the capital remained outside even after the shaking had faded, fearful of returning to their buildings.
In the neighborhood of Roma Norte, an entire office building collapsed. Rescuers scrambled to save people caught in the rubble. Several of the injured were whisked away in ambulances. Others lay on the ground covered in dust. An unknown number remained trapped or crushed inside.
Talia Hernández, 28, was on the second floor of the building, taking a tattoo class. When the earthquake hit and tore through the structure, she said, she rolled down the stairs as they were collapsing. She managed to escape the building but broke her foot.

“I can’t believe I’m alive,” she said, weeping and in shock as medics pulled shards of glass from her foot.

Ms. Hernández said other people had also managed to flee, but even the perimeter of the building remained dangerous. The heavy smell of leaking gas permeated the air, as it did across damaged parts of the city. Emergency personnel at the scene were pushing bystanders away, fearing an explosion.
The scene was cordoned off, and the injured were being carted away on gurneys and placed in ambulances. The building itself was unrecognizable — it had fallen entirely. The rubble, a brown-colored cement, rose nearly 20 feet high. The neighboring building was partly torn in the collapse as well.
Angela Cota, 52, an administrative secretary who worked in the building on the first floor, said that just as she and others were fleeing, parts of the building fell around them. They, too, managed to get out, but it was unclear how many people remained stuck beneath the rubble.

Gabriela Hernández, 28, lay on a gurney, covered in blood and nearly speechless. Her boyfriend stood beside her, clutching her IV bag. The blood was not hers, they said; it belonged to someone who had fallen on top of her when the building went down. She said she had been on the sixth floor when it happened, yet managed to escape.
The scene grew frantic as dozens of medical workers, police officers and firefighters shouted to see what people needed. They were hastily trying to make a pulley system to free people still trapped near the top of the rubble heap. Construction workers from a nearby site raced to the scene and lined up to help, bearing long wooden poles to help lift pieces of the structure.
Buildings also collapsed across the neighborhoods of Condesa, another fashionable district in the city constructed atop soft soil and extremely vulnerable to earthquakes. Outside, thousands and thousands stood in the streets, avenues and sidewalks, filling the popular neighborhoods with a sense of dread.
On Laredo Street, an entire eight-story apartment building had fallen into the road, leaving an enormous heap of concrete and rubble pouring into the street. At least 100 people stood atop the pile clearing it by hand, piece by piece, passing boulders and twisted steel pipes along a human chain that radiated from the heap like spokes.

The sound of shouts filled the air, men barking orders at one another. Then came a call for silence — to listen for the voices of anyone trapped inside, screaming for help.

Standing on the sidewalk, Salomón Chertorivski, the secretary of economic development for Mexico City, said he believed that 10 people were trapped inside the structure. The rumble of a backhoe digging into the building’s remains and the whir of helicopters overhead dominated. A stretcher was passed up to the top of the heap.
“Whoever isn’t helping, leave,” one worker shouted to no one in particular.
Witnesses had watched in horror as people tried to escape before the building collapsed.
“It fell straight down,” said Moises Escobar, 25, a recent college graduate. “There was a lot of smoke and dust.”
Workers continued their mad scramble to pull those from the wreckage. A man raced down Amsterdam Street, looking for tools.

“Saws, hacksaws — anything to cut wood and metal,” he screamed.
Someone returned from a nearby building with a hacksaw and handed it to him, and he prepared to sprint back to mound.
“I work near here but we have to help,” he said. “It’s our country.”
That collective spirit filled the disaster site, as neighbors and those passing by joined to help.
Alexia Meza, 23, was in a nearby building when the collapse occurred. “You could hear the screams,” she said.
She raced into the crowd surrounding the fallen building, her arms raised to collect whatever debris workers were passing down to clear from the site.

The epicenters of Tuesday’s earthquake and the larger one on Sept. 7 were more than 400 miles apart, but they both occurred in a region where one of the earth’s crustal plates, the Cocos, is sliding beneath another, the North American.

Paul Earle, a seismologist with the United States Geological Survey, said it was too early to say whether there was any connection between the two quakes. Although the first was much stronger, the one on Tuesday was much closer to Mexico City, causing more damage in the capital.

There were also reports of deaths and extensive damage in Jojutla de Juarez, Morelos, a city about 60 miles west of the epicenter. Residents said that many buildings, including businesses and homes, had been destroyed. Electricity was cut and water was scarce because water tanks — many located above ground or on rooftops — ruptured or cracked.
President Enrique Peña Nieto said on Twitter that he had been flying to Oaxaca at the time of the earthquake and had immediately returned to Mexico City. Earlier on Tuesday, Mr. Peña Nieto attended a memorial service for those killed in the 1985 earthquake.
Emotions ran high as everyone waited for people to be pulled from the fractured structure in the Roma Norte neighborhood. Tearful outbursts clashed with shouts for help and the din of trucks and crews working feverishly.
Hours after the building fell, emergency personnel pulled Laura Rita Bernal Torres, 36, out of the rubble — alive.

She had been in the same tattoo class as Ms. Hernández, on the second floor. As she emerged, a round of applause erupted from the hundreds of workers and rescuers nearby.
“I can’t feel my legs,” she said. A block of concrete had fallen on her back.
Ms. Bernal then began to sob, asking about the fate of her classmate, Ms. Hernández, who was trapped beside her in the building. She figured she must have been killed.

When a New York Times reporter told her that Ms. Hernández had in fact made it out alive, Ms. Bernal began weeping anew.
“I can’t believe it,” she cried. “Thank God!”
More survivors emerged from the debris. Ernesto Sota Senderos, a 64-year-old engineer, was pulled out unconscious. But his son was still trapped inside the building. Others with loved ones inside urged rescuers to persist.

“You can do this,” screamed a man in a suit as he ran beside a gurney. “Fight for your life, please!”

PLEASE PRAY FOR MEXICO!

#NEWMUSIC from Ledisi feat. BJ The Chicago Kid – Us 4ever
That soulful songstress Ledisi returns with a glorious duet featuring BJ The Chicago Kid.
Prepping for the release of her new album, Let Love Rule (due Sept. 22), the R&B powerhouse fights for everlasting love on “Us 4ever.”

“Rex Rideout played me this groove and immediately I wrote the chorus,” Ledisi tells EBONY. “After that, we were laughing while writing a song about a relationship that is slightly dysfunctional but functional. That might sound crazy to some but love is that simple and yet very complex for so many people. ‘Us 4ever’ is a poetic way of saying you get on my nerves but I love you no matter what.”

Joined by BJ on the welcomed collaboration, Ledisi revealed it was the song’s producer who suggested they team up.
“Rex worked with Jairus “JMo” Mozee on the music. He is an amazing guitarist, you can hear his genius in the song. When it was done Rex thought it would be great to have BJ The Chicago Kid make an appearance to have a male perspective for balance. BJ worked with Jairus and Rex on his Grammy-nominated debut so it fit perfectly.”

In support of her new album, Ledisi will travel across North American on “The Rebel, The Soul & The Saint Tour,” co-headlining with Kirk Franklin. The tour kicks off on October 25 in Oakland, CA and culminates on December 2 in Richmond, VA after hitting cities all over the country including Los Angeles, New York, Nashville, Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit and more.

Kim Kardashian is NOT Joining “American Idol” As Judge, Despite Report
Kim Kardashian is not joining “American Idol” as a judge, despite a ridiculous report. A webloid is alleging Ryan Seacrest wants the reality star to come onboard the reboot, but it’s total nonsense.
“‘Game-Changer’ Kim Kardashian Locks Down ‘American Idol’ Judge Job,” RadarOnline is falsely blaring in a headline. Picking up its allegations from the unreliable blog Naughty Gossip, the site contends Kardashian “may have found a lifeline to bolster her flagging reality career now that ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ is no longer the hit it once was.” And she supposedly has Seacrest to thank, as the two outlets assert he’s been “gunning for Kardashian to join the show’s upcoming ABC reboot.”

A so-called “source” is quoted as saying, “While producers have been looking at Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, Keith Urban and other people within the music business, Ryan thinks the show should hire Kim. Promotion and social media are now just as important to being a successful artist as singing, and no one knows that world better than his pal Kim.” This supposed snitch also points out, “People might moan at first that she doesn’t have experience with music but they did the same thing when Heidi Klum joined the panel at ‘America’s Got Talent.’ At least Kim is from the USA, and she certainly knows how to make great TV.'”

“Ryan is worried that if they just follow the format of the old show, that it will feel dated. Adding Kim will be a game-changer,” the alleged tipster further claims. But it seems RadarOnline regurgitated these assertions without bothering to find out if they’re accurate. Tellingly, the webloid seems to have already forgotten that it recently claimed Kardashian was “desperate to replace” This much is clear: RadarOnline is a terrible resource for West, Kardashian, Seacrest and “American Idol” fans.

Tom Brady & Ivanka Trump Never Dated, Source Sounds Off on Anthony Scaramucci's Comments About Gisele
Former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci made a bold statement on TMZ Live this week when he said Gisele Bundchen‘s “jealousy” was probably the reason that Tom Brady did not attend the Patriots’ White House visit earlier this year.

“There could be a little bit of jealousy there and protection and possession of Tom Brady, and she probably didn’t want him to go. Maybe there was a relationship between him and Ivanka at some point. Maybe it was someone else, I don’t know. I just think there was a possession that caused a rub,” Anthony said.

Sources tell People that Tom and Ivanka never dated, and called everything he said about Gisele‘s supposed “jealousy” complete “bulls–t.”

Tom himself said the reason he did not go to the White House was to spend time with his sick mom.

#ICYMI: Missy Elliott Killed It At The VH1 Hip Hop Honors
The throwback performance reminds us why Missy is, and always will be, a legend.

On Sunday night, the legendary Missy Elliott kicked of the VH1 Hip Hop Honors: The 90's Game Changers, reinforcing the fact that she is and always will be one of the most influential women in hip hop. No, one of the most influential women period. In all black from her head to her toes, the queen of Afrofuturism and out-of-this-world ensembles performed “She’s a Bitch” dripping with her familiar swagger. The hit ‘90s song was the debut single on her second album, Da Real World, released back in 1999.
Suited up in a black trench coat with jewels on her face, Missy's performance mirrored the visuals of the Hype Williams-directed video that accompanied the single when it was first released. The video, which cost over a whopping $2 million to produce, is still one of the most expensive music videos of all time.

WATCH HERE
This song and her performance in so many ways represents the best of the ‘90s: from Timbaland’s thudding production to the accompanying Hype Williams' music video. Not to mention Missy's supa dupa fly dance moves. Nearly 20 years later, Missy continues to empower women, reclaiming would-be insults and stepping over the haters in style.

Linkin Park Will Honor frontman Chester Bennington With a Tribute Concert
Linkin Park will honor their late frontman, Chester Bennington, with a tribute concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on October 27, the band announced on Monday, September 18. The news comes two months after Bennington took his own life.
“I know it’s going to be a roller-coaster of emotion, but when we talk about this, when we’re focusing on the show, it’s really about celebrating life,” Linkin Park cofounder Mike Shinoda told KROQ on Monday, September 18.
A statement posted on the band’s website promises an “an unforgettable night of music” featuring a number of other artists. Proceeds from the show will go to Music for Relief’s One More Light Fund in memory of Bennington. The pre-sale begins Tuesday, September 19.

The band has also released an official music video for “One More Light,” the title track from their May album. In the footage, Bennington is seen onstage surrounded by adoring fans and joking around backstage with his bandmates.
“I know the circumstances of his passing were really dark and as we said at the time, the darkness that he had was always there and it was kind of part of the package, but what was so unique and special about this guy is that he used it as fuel to do so many positive things,” Shinoda explained during the KROQ interview. “The way he was, he was such a happy guy, he was such a fun guy and when he’d walk in the room there was such a positive, funny, upbeat energy and that’s what we want to get out of this show.”
Bennington was found at his residence by an employee in the upstairs area of his home in the Palos Verdes Estates neighborhood of Los Angeles on July 20. His death was ruled a suicide by hanging.
Bennington, who was 41 at the time of his death, is survived by his wife, Talinda Bennington, and six children from two marriages.

If you or anyone you know is experiencing suicidal thoughts, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline to be connected to a local crisis center for confidential emotional support.

Toys ‘R’ Us Files Bankruptcy Protection In Us And Canada
Things aren’t looking too good for Toys ‘R’ Us as multiple reports say it has filed for bankruptcy protection in both the US and Canada. The once dominant toy company has nearly 1,600 stores and 64,000 employees at stake — but we hear the debt restructure is necessary.

European, Australian, and Asian locations reportedly will not be affected by the companies restructure.
The firm’s European operations are not part of the bankruptcy proceedings and Toys R Us says it does not expect any immediate impact on its UK stores.
Toys R Us’s operations in Australia, about 255 licensed stores and a joint venture partnership in Asia are also not included in the bankruptcy move.
As you can imagine, the advancing technology age has been shifting the game, forcing companies to keep up. Which is why Toy ‘R’ Us says they are counting on online sales to “secure its future.”

“The past decade has seen a dramatic change in the domestic toy market with new channels, increased competition, and new technology all having a deleterious impact on the sector and traditional toy stores. Unfortunately, Toys ‘R’ Us has not responded effectively to these challenges.”

This is truly the ending of an era.

Firefighter Suspended Indefinitely After Saying Saving One Dog Is More Important Than Saving a Million N*ggers!
An Ohio firefighter has found himself without a job after he made disgusting racial comments about black people on his Facebook page.

Via HuffPost:Tyler Roysdon, a volunteer firefighter for Franklin Township, wrote that if he had to choose between saving a dog or a black man from a burning building, the dog would get priority, because “one dog is more important than a million n****rs.”
Once township officials discovered the post, Roysdon was suspended indefinitely, according to local station WHIO-TV.
The township will hold a disciplinary hearing for him on Sept. 27, the station reported.
Because he is a volunteer, Roysdon is only paid when he is called to duty. Authorities said he will not be called while the suspension is in effect.

Have fun in the unemployment line Roysdon.
