Phaedra Parks Wants To Run For Office – Will the Housewives Vote For Her?
If you follow Phaedra Parks on social media, you are aware that she is very passionate about her two boys, fashion game, shading people, and politics.
The motivational speaker, who was recently booted from “The Real Housewives Of Atlanta,” is often seen with her shero, Maxine Waters.
And the attorney never misses an opportunity to be in Washington with top heads of the Democratic party including Minority Leader of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi.
So, it is not surprising that she has plans to run for office one day.
This week, the mother of two sat down at an event hosted by Essence and was asked directly, will her name be on a ballot in the near future?

Her answer was not ambiguous; she said yes, Senator or maybe Governor Parks.
The lawyer, who will certainly not get NeNe Leakes and Kandi Burruss’ votes explained: “I love politics! I will be running for political office in future because people are looking for something new. People want a new voice, and I can lend my voice to that.”
She went on to share: “When I went to law school, I did not necessarily want to be a lawyer initially. I wanted a degree to give me the credibility to have a career in politics.”
This is not the first time the reality star has made it known that she is dreaming of being a political leader.

Recently she gave a speech where she spoke about a variety of topics including being an activist, water crisis in Flint, Michigan, and Black Lives Matter.
During her remarks, she said to change things; actions must be taken including becoming a leader in your community.
She said: “I’m not sure where I would be most helpful, but I just want to show people a renaissance woman, much like myself, who has been through a lot of challenges, but also a lot of successes as well, can use your voice not only for cattiness on a television show but to help people in a very positive way.”
She added: “We all live in America and we all want to have the American dream.Someone has to fight for the people who do not have an opportunity to share in the dream that we should all be living. Even though I love what I had been doing, I realized that I really needed help and that I can have a larger impact and more of an impact on the community.”

Parks was a volunteer in the two political campaigns that got Barack Obama in the White House, so maybe she will take on Donald Trump in 2020....LOL!

#MUSICNEWS: Watch: Mary J. Blige, Chaka Khan, Ari Lennox, Jazmine Sullivan & Lalah Hathaway Had A Sing-Off At Essence Fest
When it was announced that Mary J. Blige would be curating the first ever “Ladies Night” concert evening at this year’s ESSENCE Festival, it was inevitable that audience members would be witnessing some of the best female voices in music.
Gathering together an amazing line-up of SANGERS for the special Saturday night show at the Superdome in New Orleans, attendees were not only blessed with outstanding solo performances, but a special surprise sing-off!

During Chaka Khan’s solo set on the main stage, the R&B icon treated the crowd to one of the most memorable moments of the weekend. While performing the final song in her set, “I’m Every Woman” — and as the crowd sang along — Jazmine Sullivan walked out joining Khan on stage.
The Superdome cheered, but they weren’t even prepared for what would happen next. Jazmine helped on the second verse, but then Mary J. Blige, Lalah Hathaway, and Ari Lennox walked out for the chorus!

After singing together, Khan encouraged each woman to offer a solo. Hathaway and Sullivan did classic jazz scats, Lennox sang a beautiful melody, and Blige belted out some soulful vocal runs.

#HIPHOPNEWS: Oh? Tupac Shakur Played Race Card, Prison Letter Reveals He Dumped Madonna For Being White: “I NEVER MEANT TO HURT YOU”
Late hip-hop icon 2Pac pulled the plug on his romance with pop diva Madonna over her color. New reports claim a past prison letter reveals race played a central role in their 90’s split.
In a letter set for auction later this month at $100,000, Pac dishes on the impact their relationship would have on society and his image.
The rapper poured out his heart to the singer in an extremely revealing letter he wrote in jail. Tupac writes, “For you to be seen with a black man wouldn’t in any way jeopardize your career, if anything it would make you seem that much more open and exciting.” The legend then confesses, “But for me at least in my previous perception I felt due to my ‘image’ I would be letting down half of the people who made me what I thought I was.” It’s an amazing letter. Tupac clearly knows he devastated Madonna by the rejection, saying, “I never meant to hurt you.” (TMZ)

#STILLIN21017? Black student forced to share valedictorian with White teen who held lower GPA
When Jasmine Shepard completed her course work at Cleveland High School in Cleveland, Mississippi, she and her family believed that she was on the verge of making history. Shepard had earned the right to be named the first Black valedictorian at Cleveland High in 110 years.

However, White school administrators attempted to dilute her honor by making Shepard a co-valedictorian with a White student who earned a lower grade point average. According to the Washington Post and the Justice for Jasmine Facebook Page, Shepard endured racial discrimination by the school’s officials. Along with being named a co-valedictorian, Shepard was set to walk behind the White student and speak after her, as well
But Shepard’s mother, Sherry Shepard, stepped up and decided to file a lawsuit in the North District of Mississippi. In the lawsuit, Shepard noted that the Cleveland School District has a history of racial discrimination. The school system had failed to desegregate 50 years after it was ordered to do so. The school finally integrated in 2016 after a judge enforced action.

Attorneys for the Cleveland School District claim Shepard and the White student had similar grade point averages and that it doesn’t discriminate when it comes to race. However, Shepard’s grade point average would automatically be higher because she took several Advanced Placement courses.
Following the lawsuit, the Shepards have received threats and racist comments on their social media pages. One comment on Facebook read, “You n—s and your self-entitled actions make me sick! You shouldn’t even be at the same school as White people! Black lives don’t mean s—.”

The issue sheds light on how racial discrimination continues to occur across the nation on all levels. Something as simple as a high school graduation is marred due to adults who continue to embrace hatred and racist attitudes.

The Shepards are seeking monetary damages and for Jasmine to be named the “sole valedictorian.”

Mariah Carey Credit Card NOT Declined While Shopping, Despite Report
Mariah Carey’s credit cards were not declined while on a shopping spree in Beverly Hills, despite a new report that was widely picked up without any fact-checking. We can exclusively correct the claim, which alleges she had to pay cash at the Louis Vuitton store because her plastic was not accepted. We’re exclusively told it’s “not true.”

RadarOnline, which has published a number of inaccurate stories about Carey, now contends that while recently shopping, it became “embarrassing” for the superstar singer when her credit cards were declined. The site quotes a so-called “eyewitness” as saying, “She was shopping on Rodeo Drive and her credit cards were declined.” The same supposed source claims Carey thought it was a “fluke” when it occurred at the Louis Vuitton store, “but when it happened three more times she was embarrassed and humiliated.” Actually, the take-away from this is that the webloid’s “eyewitness” sounds more like a stalker who followed Carey around Beverly Hills.

The site relates Carey returned to the Louis Vuitton store and “ended up paying cash.” The outlet’s “source” adds, “Mariah is blaming her manager for the cancelations, postponement and low ticket sales of her tour with Lionel Richie. She’s also had bad press and business deals.” Wait, the “eyewitness,” who purportedly followed Carey as she went to four different shops in Beverly Hills also seems to have insight into her professional financial dealings?

As a result of the story not adding up and the questionable nature of the website’s “source” and/or “eyewitness” We looked into the outlet’s report. A rep for Carey assures us the blog’s article is “not true.” We also called over to the Louis Vuitton store and no one could confirm RadarOnline’s tale. It should be noted as well that the site suspiciously never stated when Carey’s credit cards were supposedly declined. The more it was investigated, the more it appeared this never happened.

Rasheeda Breaks Down Over the Loss of Marriage to Kirk In "LHHATL" Reunion Show Sneak Peek — Watch
Fans of "Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta" have followed the storyline of Kirk Frost cheating on his wife Rasheeda and knocking up a stripper.
In a sneak peek of the "LHHATL" reunion show, Rasheeda breaks down into tears as she discusses her broken marriage.
Viewers are still waiting to find out if Kirk is truly the father of Jasmine Washington's baby boy, with the paternity results expected to be revealed on the reunion show.

In a promo video, Rasheeda bursts into tears as she talks about her crumbling marriage and Kirk's cheating.
Reunion host Nina Parker asks Rasheeda how it feels to be considered a great example of black love while also dealing with her husband of 18 years cheating and possibly fathering another child.

Rasheeda, who normally keeps it together and remains strong, was overcome with emotion while discussing the drama.
She said, "You don’t never… I wouldn’t wish this on nobody. At the end of the day y’all. On some real [expletive]. When you in a marriage and a commitment, and I grew up with this man and he’s hurt me. And it’s crazy because he’s also help me grow to become the woman I am today. But when you hurt somebody and you dismantle a bond. That’s the hardest thing to get over. Heartbreak is like the worst thing to get over.”

The other cast members and people in the audience were also in tears as they watched Rasheeda break down. She attempted to compose herself before addressing Kirk.

Rasheeda said, “More than anything, this is a lesson for you. [This is a lesson] for you to understand what you’ve done. You know we have children and that’s the main thing that bothers me. We have children that look at you like a [expletive] superhero. You are a father and for you to do this, you didn’t think about [the] consequences of this. And not only did you hurt me, but you broke me.”

James Franco Would Pick Up Dates While Working at a McDonald's Drive-Thru
James Franco gives a sultry stare in this new feature from W magazine’s new issue.

Here’s what the 39-year-old actor had to share with the mag:
On when he started acting: “I started acting my senior year in high school. I had loved movies since as long as I can remember. Then finally my senior year, I started acting. And I had a girlfriend in the drama program, and she had been asked to do a one-act by this guy. And he had written this one-act and was directing and starring in it. It was this romantic piece, and they were gonna make out in it. And I got really jealous, and I begged her not to do it. But she did it anyway, as she should have. I realize in hindsight that I was jealous probably more because he had constructed this whole thing and he’d written it and directed it and was acting in it—it was, like, all the things that I wanted to do. And so as my revenge, I decided that I would join the drama class. I got the leads in the last two plays that year. Then I hadn’t applied to any drama schools ’cause I was too late, and so I wasn’t in the theater program at UCLA. But I was in L.A., and there was, like, a guy in my dorm that was on the show Cybill, with Cybill Shepherd. It was just all around me, and I was like, ‘Well, I, I need to do this now.’ So I dropped out of school. My parents wouldn’t support me anymore. So I worked at McDonald’s for two or three months. . . .I got a couple dates from the drive-thru window. [Laughter.] Then I got a Pizza Hut commercial, and then not long after that I did Freaks and Geeks. So it all worked out.”

On getting dates at the McDonald’s drive-thru: “I was in acting class, and I would practice different accents in the drive-thru, like really bad accents. But people believed me. So I’d be like [in terrible Italian-American accent] ‘Hey, welcome to McDonald’s. May I help you?’ You know, like, that bad. And I’d always know that they were interested ’cause they’d come back around. So, you know, a young lady would be like, ‘Oh, I forgot the, uh, strawberry milkshake.’She’d come back and she’d be like, ‘Well, I’m trying to learn Italian. Maybe you could give me some Italian lessons.’ I’d go [in accent], ‘Yeah, yeah, sure.’ But then there were a couple, I guess, with my Irish accent or, like, my Brooklyn accent—those I could go out on dates with. You know, we went to see Titanic, and I had to keep it up. You know, so like [in equally bad Brooklyn accent], ‘Whoa, Leonardo. Wow, he was amazing. Yo, oh.’

On how his dates would find out the truth: “Then I always had to break it to ‘em, ’cause they’d call me, and it was before cell phones. So I’d pick up the phone, I didn’t know who it was. And I’d be like [in regular voice], ‘Hello?’ And they’d be like, ‘James, is that you? What happened to your accent?’ It was always the worst, as if I was this huge imposter. Like, I had to come clean: ‘Hey, I’m not from Brooklyn. I’m from Palo Alto.’ And they just look at me like I’m a complete stranger. And it usually ended right there.”

JAY-Z’s 4:44 Goes Platinum in Less Than a Week
The album was initially released only to pre-existing Tidal subscribers and Sprint customers

Just five days after its release, JAY-Z’s new album 4:44 has been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), meaning it has streamed or sold the equivalent of one million copies. It is JAY-Z’s 17th platinum album (13th solo), according to the RIAA. On Friday, 4:44 was released exclusively through Tidal and was only available to pre-existing subscribers, as well as Sprint customers. Earlier this week, it became available to all Tidal users, with a physical release on the way.
Just before JAY-Z put out his last LP, 2013’s Magna Carta Holy Grail, the RIAA changed the rules for going gold and platinum so that digital sales would count toward an artist’s achievements; previously, a record had to be out for at least 30 days. As a result, Magna Carta was able to go platinum on the day of its release, due to a deal with Samsung that offered the first million copies for free to their customers.
