The Daily Buzz For April 11

Lauryn Hill's Daughter, Selah Marley, is on the Cover of U.K. 'Sunday Times' Style Magazine
The 18-year-old is taking the modeling world by storm.
While Lauryn Hill's legacy may be set in stone, her 18-year-old daughter, Selah Marley, is just beginning to carve her own.

Marley currently is expanding her resume as a model and has already worked with the likes of Chanel, Calvin Klein, Beyoncé's Ivy Park line and Kanye West's recent Yeezy collection. Most recently is covering the April 2017 issue of the U.K. Sunday Times style magazine.
During the cover story, the rising model discusses what it's been like working with the likes of 'Ye and Bey.
"I think a lot of times the image that Black women have in the media is quite negative," Marley says, reflecting on working on the Ivy Park campaign, along with SZA and Black-ish star Yara Shahidi. "I think Beyoncé working to really empower and show the grace and beauty and intelligence in young Black women is really beautiful."
She also talks about her first time ever meeting West during the in-depth profile.

"I was getting anxiety, like, yo, I wanna tell Kanye I love him," she admitted. "He’s been through a lot of persecution in the media and by people, but it doesn’t stop him from being who he is."
Additionally, Marley also reveals that she has something both exciting and creative in the works, detailing her own ideas for the near future.

"I’m working on a project that basically expresses the entirety of myself," Marley added. "I feel like modeling can be a little surface. I think this project is really just the purest expression of myself and things I’ve internalized for a long time."
She then lets us in on the secret that she's still figuring out all the details.

"It’s a little bit of a blog," the teenager explained. "I don’t really know what to call it, but it’s going to be a really interactive, visually enticing experience."
Sounds like Selah Marley definitely inherited her mother's boundless creativity.

#NEWMUSCVIDEO FROM Video: D∆WN – ‘LA’
D∆WN returns with another visually captivating moment. Two months after joining Dirty Projectors in the dazzling “Cool Your Heart” video, Dawn Richard explores her relationship with Los Angeles and Louisiana in the film-noir clip for her latest single, “LA.”
The mostly black-and-white visual finds D∆WN in her usual artistic zone, dancing and performing through the City of Angels. She makes sure to hit landmarks, from the Walt Disney Concert Hall to the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.

“‘LA’ is such a personal record and visual to me,” she told Jezebel. “It explains the parallels of the struggle and beauty I’ve encountered in both Louisiana and Los Angeles.”
Playing a guitar along with guest Trombone Shorty, Dawn also delivers a rockstar moment at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power building, overlooking the city’s iconic skyline.

“We been friends since Wayne was a Hot Boy… he said we should keep drivin’ for the sake of survivin’, now we hot, boy,” she sings. Though later, she adds: “These L.A. streets are killing me.”
The Monty Marsh-directed video has a black-and-white motif, but D∆WN and Marsh purposely included splashes of red throughout. “Red signifies the redemption I find in both the grit and the glamour,” she explained.

Today, Dawn also announced her upcoming “Redemption Tour,” a 7-date trek that includes a stop in Chicago for the Pitchfork Festival. Starting July 13 in Detroit, the run is slated to continue through July 22 in Brooklyn.

#NEWHIPHOP: Belly Announces ‘Glorious’ Project, Premieres Title Track
It’s a Glorious day for Belly fans. Less than a year after dropping InZombia, the XO affiliate announces his next project, due this summer, with the release of its title track.

Produced by Danny Boy Styles, “Glorious” is a haunting and infectious slapper that allows Belly to sing and rap with his usual flare. “Even if we die right now, it’d be glorious,” he rhymes. “I’ma do it big like Notorious / That’s word to Puff.”
In honor of his new banger, Belly matched the song up with a scene from Scarface in which Tony Montana (Al Pacino) dances with Elvira Hancock (Michelle Pfeiffer). He also shared side-by-side photos of himself to show off his dramatic weight loss. He captioned the shots — one of which was taken at his “You” video last year — with “feeling glorious.”
The Roc Nation MC, who turns 33 today, is coming off the “Rubba Band Business” tour with Juicy J. Next, he’s heading back out on the road with The Weeknd’s “Starboy Tour,” starting April 25 in Vancouver.
Due in the summer, Glorious follows a string of projects from Belly, including last year’s InZombia and Another Day in Paradise. Listen to the forthcoming project’s title track HERE

Mariah Carey and her boyfriend Bryan Tanaka have split after five months of dating, according to TMZ.
The entertainer reportedly felt that Bryan was spending too much of her money on expensive items like clothes and jewelry, and that he was using her for fame.

Bryan was reportedly jealous of Mariah‘s friendly relationship with her ex-husband Nick Cannon, who she spends a lot of time with for the benefit of their children.
When Mariah went to the Kids’ Choice Awards with Nick and their twins, Bryan allegedly felt “disrespected” and demanded that she come home for the event. This was reportedly the final straw in their relationship.

OmarMOOSA Omarosa Marries In D.C. Trump Tower
The former "Apprentice" contestant and avid Trump supporter wed her pastor fiancé Dr. John Allen Newman on April 8.

On Saturday, former Apprentice contestant and avid Trump supporter Omarosa Manigault married her pastor fiancé Dr. John Allen Newman. Not surprisingly, #45 did not attend the nuptials because he was at hosting Chinese President Xi Jinping at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. However, Manigault’s wedding was hosted at the Trump Tower in Washington D.C.

According to USA TODAY, Manigault tweeted her good news:

Omarosa rocked the pink, full-skirted, embroidered gown and a custom-made veil that can be seen during her appearance on TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress. The episode airs Sunday, April 9 at 8 ET/PT.
USA TODAY points out that the $25,000 wedding gown and decor from NYC swanky Kleinfeld’s was a gift for her appearing on the show.
We’re surprised her wedding actually happened given that earlier this week we reported that her nuptials were postponed due to death threats. The couple’s original wedding date was March 25 and they were supposed to marry at Newman’s church in Jacksonville, Florida, The Sanctuary at Mt. Calvary.

“She is really concerned about her safety. There have been calls, emails and social media messages from people threatening to do harm to her and she feared that she wouldn’t be protected adequately at his church in Jacksonville. So she pushed the date back and made the change,” a source told The Daily Mail.

This is Manigault’s second marriage.

Jay Z Pulls His Music Off of Spotify & Apple Music
Jay Z has decided to remove the majority of his music off of streaming sites.
The 47-year-old rapper has “requested” that his catalogs be pulled off of Spotify and Apple Music, Billboard reports.
The only Jay Z music that remains on Spotify now are his two collaborative albums with R Kelly – Unfinished Business and Best of Both Worlds – along with five song collabs including “N—-s in Paris” with Kanye West and “Clique” with Big Sean and Kanye.

The move comes as Jay‘s own music streaming site Tidal struggles to compete with other streaming sites, and currently is believed to have less than three million subscribers.

You can now listen to Jay Z‘s entire discography exclusively on Tidal.com.
