Solange Gets Interviewed By Beyoncé For ‘Interview’ Magazine
Solange is on the cover of the February issue of Interview Magazine, with an interview conducted by none other than her big sister Beyoncé.
In the interview the Knowles sisters open up about their childhood, the making of the A Seat at the Table, why Solange decided to feature her parents on the album, and more. “It was one thing to make the record and have those reservations; it was another to finish it and actually share it. I just feel so much joy and gratitude that people have connected to it in this way,” Solange says about the album. “The biggest reward that I could ever get is seeing women, especially black women, talk about what this album has done, the solace it has given them.”
Bey also noted that Solange regularly writes her own lyrics and treatments for her music videos, and asked her sister where she gets all of her inspiration. “It varies,” Solange responds. “For one, I got to have a lot of practice. Growing up in a household with a master class such as yourself definitely didn’t hurt. And, as far back as I can remember, our mother always taught us to be in control of our voice and our bodies and our work, and she showed us that through her example. If she conjured up an idea, there was not one element of that idea that she was not going to have her hand in.”
Solange also talks about what it was like to have Queen Bey as her older sibling. “You did a kickass job,” she tells her big sister. “You were the most patient, loving, wonderful sister ever. In the 30 years that we’ve been together, I think we’ve only really, like, butted heads…we can count on one hand.”
Bey also opens up about Solange, saying: “I remember thinking, ‘My little sister is going to be something super special,’ because you always seemed to know what you wanted. And I’m just curious, where did that come from?”
Elsewhere in the interview Solange talks about how Aaliyah influenced her, the similarities between Master P and her dad, and what it was like meeting Nas.
#ICYMI Listen (again) to President Obama’s Farewell Speech!
Well folks it really has come to end of a GREAT ERA!
President Obama's farewell speech has many – including himself – in tears
It is rare for Obama to cry publicly, but he was not alone as he paid tribute to his wife, daughters and vice-president
Rain is not forecast in Chicago until tomorrow, but the tears were pouring down from the first family, the crowd and many across the country during Barack Obama’s emotional final presidential speech in Chicago on Tuesday evening.
Barack Obama only had to say the word “Michelle” to have the crowd on its feet, giving the first lady a standing ovation.
Obama returns to his home town to give his presidential farewell speech, which will focus on the themes of hope and change that first helped get him elected
Malia Obama, sitting next to her mother, started crying as her father paid a heartfelt tribute to her mother, the 18-year-old choking back tears and wiping her face.
“You took on a role you didn’t ask for and made it your own with grace and grit and style and good humor,” Obama said.
Then the president dabbed at his eyes with a white handkerchief. “You made the White House a place that belongs to everybody. And a new generation sets its sights higher because it has you as a role model,” he said.
Obama also addressed his daughters, Malia and Sasha (the younger daughter did not attend the speech).
“You have become two amazing young women, smart and beautiful, but more importantly, kind and thoughtful and full of passion. You wore the burden of years in the spotlight so easily,” he said. “Of all that I’ve done in my life, I’m most proud to be your dad.”
Cue more tears from Malia. Michelle remained composed but became a little watery-eyed after the speech ended. Vice-president Joe Biden joined others in the crowd crying during and after Obama’s final speech.

#RHoA: AGAIN? Sheree Whitfield Sued by Contractors
Real Housewives of Atlanta's Sheree Whitfield sued by contractors over unpaid bills at Chateau Sheree...
According to Straight from the A Sheree Whitfield was just slapped with a $10k lawsuit claiming she's refusing to pay Heritage Landscape Group of Flowery Branch for landscaping work and assistance with obtaining her certificate of occupancy.
Heritage claims after paying less than half the amount owed Sheree first admitted she didn't have any money but later claimed she was unsatisfied with the work.
The case is pending.
Fun Facts: Last year Sheree filed a $275k lawsuit against her insurance company over flood damage reimbursement and was cited back in November for NOT obtaining a certificate of occupancy. Sheree has been working on the house since 2011.
#EMPIRE: Taraji Henson shares affirming message she says God ‘delivered’ to her
Taraji P. Henson, who frequently talks about her Christian faith, is sharing a message she says the Holy “Spirit delivered” to her.
“I gave you the brightest light for a very specific reason because I knew you would shine like no other,” reads the affirming word posted on Instagram, Jan. 5.
The divinely inspired affirmation from the Oscar nominated actress’s personal devotion continues, “If you ever encounter someone else who can’t handle the shine that is only enhancing their light, that’s not your problem child. I will place in your life all of the right souls that love and understand your light.”
Speaking of shining, this is something Henson, star of FOX’s hit drama “Empire,” has being doing a lot of lately.
The 46-year-old, who also stars in the new film Hidden Figures, currently in theaters, is getting rave reviews for her portrayal of Katherine Johnson, a brilliant mathematician whose number-crunching helped Nasa during the agency’s formidable years.
“Back on my morning meditation (I fell off for a while),” shared Henson with her millions of Instagram followers, captioning the text-based graphic containing the encouragement.
“Thought I would share it with you! Don’t ever dim your light to make someone else feel comfortable! God gave you that light to share with the world. If someone can’t take your brightness… politely hand them a pair of fabulous shades and wish them well on their journey,” she wrote.
In light of the focus of Hidden Figures, the content of Henson’s published message is appropriate.
She, along with Janelle Monae and Octavia Spencer, bring to life the stories of three ladies who refused to dim their light during a decade rife with racial tension, division and oppression of women.
For those who can’t handle all that you are, Henson advises, “Pray that they tap into the light God gave them.”
New Music Video: LeToya Luckett – Back 2 Life
LeToya Luckett releases the powerful new visual for her comeback single, “Back 2 Life.” The dramatic mini-movie style video showcases the singer/actress in a tumultuous relationship with her leading man, Thomas Q. Jones.
Produced by Jo Blaq and YBZ, “Back 2 Life” will be featured on her forthcoming album Until Then, due out this spring.
“As women, we go through so many changes and on this album I let it out,” the singer says. “I talk about my growth and listening back I can hear it. I can hear that growth.”
Until Then is an R&B album, she says, but it has an alternative angle, as well. “I hope people can listen to the album and hear my heart,” she says. “For me, I get healing from music. I want people to experience that. It’s not about being liked, not about the approval. It’s about the experience and pouring my heart. I just want people to hear my heart and that’s it.”
Check out her “Back 2 Life” video HERE
Luckett spent five years working on the album, taking her time discovering the music and making sure it met her vision.
“It’s like therapy for me, going in there and writing records and pouring my heart out,” she says. “It’s something I had to learn how to do. Sometimes, it was a little too close to home, but then I was like, ‘Nah, there are real people going through that and they can relate.’”
New Hip Hop Video: Belly feat. Jadakiss – ‘Trap Phone’
Belly connects with Jadakiss in the throwback-inspired video for “Trap Phone.”
Donning Tommy Hilfiger gear that was ultra-popular in the early ’90s, ‘Kiss and Belly go back-and-forth with verses about the trap with brick phones in their hands.
Whether in front of fancy whips or fire escapes, each MC delivers street-fueled bars. “Phone blingin’,” raps Belly. “My phone blingin’ / I could sell this line for like a quarter million.” Jada adds: “The heart of the city, I’m the backbone / And I’m ready to die for my trap phone.”
As the visual continues, it turns into a New York tribute with a cameo from Maino, who lives up to the throwback vibes with his FILA apparel. After N.Y.P.D. flashes its red and blue lights, Belly takes things to a rooftop for the visual’s finale.
“Trap Phone” is the latest single off InZombia, which dropped in November. The project features a slew of guests, including Future, Young Thug, Ty Dolla $ign, Ashanti, and more.

The video arrives just before Belly embarks on Juicy J’s upcoming “Rubba Band Business” tour, which runs from Jan. 26 in Phoenix through Mar. 18 in Milwaukee.
Bishop Eddie Long's son is sending a message to y’all 'NEGROS' criticizing his father!
Some within the African American religious community assume Bishop Eddie Long’s present illness is tied to past indiscretions. But the Georgia pastor’s son recently preached a sermon that could be a veiled defense of his father.
Elder Edward Long addressed “negroes” and their critical “opinions” about others’ destinies based on past failures.
Is that mere coincidence? Probably not.
“It’s nothing you can do to mess up what the Lord has for you to do in your life,” declared the slender young preacher in a snippet that surfaced on Bishop Long’s Facebook page Monday.
If not a direct clap-back, it is undeniably a well-timed response to individuals who have once again begun gossiping about Bishop Long’s 2010 gay sex scandal.
“Yeah, I’m crazy. Yeah, you’re crazy. So what!” continued Elder Long, adding, “Crazy people make mistakes, but we still love God.”
The message delivered by the Senior Director of the student ministry at New Birth is markedly different from the one shared by Houston pastor Kim Burrell.
In her now viral sermon condemning homosexuality as perversion, the leader of Love and Liberty Fellowship Church International amplified whispers that Bishop Long is afflicted with HIV/AIDS due to divine judgment.
But for anyone thinking his personal failings are responsible for his health failing, Elder Long, a third-generation minister, no doubt believes otherwise.
WATCH HERE
Bishop Eddie Long has sparked online reactions after appearing much thinner in the months following his revelation of a personal “health challenge”
“I cried too many tears to let negroes stop me. You done been through too much to let some people stop you and their opinions to stop you,” he said.
Members of the congregation shouted amen, stretched their arms in praise and stood on their feet.
In recent months, Bishop Long has been too frail to carry out his ministerial duties. In the interim, his son, CEO of The Good Life Media Group, independent recording artist, and Stellar Award-winning songwriter, has been right by his father’s side, picking up the slack.
“You’ve been through too much to let your mistakes, yesterday, hold you back from where you’re going today,” Elder Long said.
On New Year’s Eve, Bishop Long pressed through his infirmity, telling his congregation, "The devil told me to stay home. God says, 'I've already done everything I'm going to do. I'm just waiting on you to catch up to what I've done,’" according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
He continued, “God ain't through with me and sometimes you need to see the skinny Eddie and the big Eddie and all that. It ain't got nothing to do with physical appearance, it's what in your heart ... You are a Scripture ... I want to see you struggle. I want to see you fight the devil and get victory.”
Sorry Folks you won’t get your “TGIT” Fix Because, Orangie Trump!
Ugh! Just when we got excited about the return of our favorite shows, the lineup gets pushed back.
So here’s the deal. “Scandal” season premiere and the return of “How To Get Away With Murder” and “Grey’s Anatomy” have been pushed back a week. Shonda Rhimes’ TGIT lineup was originally scheduled to air January 19th. Now, we won’t get our TGIT fix until January 26th.
So what caused the push back? You guessed it, Donald Trump.
ABC News will be covering the presidential inauguration with “20/20” special titled, America’s First Family: The Trumps Go to Washington.” It’s set to air Thursday, January 19th at 10pm EST. The network issued a statement about the move saying, “The move was made in order to accommodate the ABC News special and to ensure that TGIT returned with three original episodes.”
Reruns of “Scandal” and “HTGAWM” will air at 8pm and 9pm before the Trump special.
