The Daily Buzz For Dec 22

Zendaya Covers Allure Magazine January 2017 Issue
This just in, Zendaya Covers Allure Magazine January 2017 Issue! From clothing brand launch to cover girl, Zendaya is doing it all this year. Miss Coleman is no stranger to photo shoots, the limelight, launching companies or being a role model for young girls. She speaks her mind confidently and stands up for herself as well as her culture with grace. In the January edition of Allure Zendaya tackles the importance of being yourself even in a fashion sense.
Do you dress according to your mood or go for trends? Does your wardrobe scream that you dance to the beat of your own drum or blend in with the crowd? In Zendaya’s case when it comes to couture she aims to be her herself and wear whatever she desires. Regarding her passion for fashion Zendaya told Allure,
“You can’t let other people determine what you want to wear, how you do your hair, how you live your life. You have to live for yourself and what makes you happy. So that’s why I dress how I dress on red carpets, and I wear a mullet to the Grammys and do what I want. It’s very liberating to just wear something for yourself and because I feel confident and I feel comfortable in it.

But that’s the whole point, you know, is for there to be conversation and talk. If I didn’t dress the way I dress or wear my hair the way I wanted to because people told me that they didn’t like it, I would be boring. And I wouldn’t be on the cover of this magazine, because no one would care. And I would never experiment. And I never would find my confidence. So I would just have a rule that you have to live for yourself and what makes you happy.”
As they fashion is about self-expression. Therefore, be like Zendaya and always include yourself and personality in your style decisions. If you do you will feel more confident and enjoy every piece purchased as you fill up your closet.
Nevertheless, as you can see in this post, Zendaya looks absolutely stunning in her editorial. The photos were lensed by Jason Kibbler with styling by Patrick Mackie and makeup by Frankie Boyd. Also, that fabulous wet, slick hair was created by hair mastermind Kim Kimble. Yes, homegirl that fries, dyes and lays to the side Queen Bey’s strands. The 2017 January edition of Allure is actually out now for purchase. So then, pick up a copy and happy reading!

‘Real Housewives Of Atlanta’ Production Company To Pay Workers $411,000 In Backpay
An investigation found the company failed to pay overtime to staff working on Bravo TV’s ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta.’
The production company behind Bravo TV’s Real Housewives of Atlanta will pay $411,000 in backpay to hundreds of workers who did not receive overtime pay, the New York Attorney General’s office announced Monday.
A investigation looking at practices from January 1, 2009 to the present found production assistants and associate producers for True Entertainment often worked 50 hours per week, and sometimes as many as 72 hours. But they were never paid overtime as required by law.
“My office is committed to enforcing overtime laws, which guarantee fair compensation for putting in long hours, and discourage employers from assigning extremely long workweeks,” New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said in a statement.
Production assistants and associate producers were responsible for crowd control, making travel arrangements, obtaining releases from people appearing on camera, and logging footage. These duties made them eligible for protection under federal and state overtime laws.
True Entertainment, which also produces The Real Housewives of Potomac, did not immediately reply to several media outlets request for comment.

The Writers Guild of America, East union said it has been working with the production staff, and others in the reality TV world. “Many report working incredibly long hours without extra pay,” said Lowell Peterson, the union’s Executive Director. “The union is working with employees to negotiate enforceable contracts that guarantee time and a half pay to [associate producers] and other overtime-eligible employees for all hours above 40 in a week.”
The settlement funds will be distributed to production assistants, associate producers, and other workers who were responsible for similar tasks on the show. As part of the settlement, True Entertainment must review its other producer job duties to to see if other workers might be entitled to overtime.
The New York Attorney General’s office said additional investigations into the reality TV production industry are ongoing.

Taraji Henson And Octavia Spencer Play Superheroes In ‘Hidden Figures’
*While ignorant white racists plotted to keep blacks down—and prove blacks are an inferior race—three black genius American women were putting John Glenn up in space and returning him. When you think of a race of people that has suffered and endured brutal demeaning discrimination yet soars, it indicates superior qualities.

Katherine G. Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer), and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monae) are brilliant mathematicians and called “computers” in “Hidden Figures.” Yet, they and approximately 30 other computers are relegated to the basement at NASA. Johnson is asked to join the space team in NASA’s main building to help compete with the Russians who had already put a man in space, but she could not use the “whites only” restroom or drink from the office coffee pot.
Henson, who calls Johnson “the queen,” exclaimed, ‘Wow! I’m in the presence of a real life super hero,’” I guess the biggest thing that I took away from her was her humility. When you talk about super heroes, they’re selfless. They don’t think about themselves. They put humans or humanity before them. She was so humble. She would always say, ‘If we.’ Well, No, Katherine it was you. It was your mind alone that got Glenn to orbit the earth. He didn’t say, ‘Go get so and so, and so and so.’ He said, ‘Go get that smart girl.’ So it was you.”
“For me, the research part was integral,” Spencer weighed in, “because if this is the first time that these women are being introduced to the world, I did not want to portray her in as any stereotype. I wanted to make sure that her integrity was preserved. there are enough negative images of black women out there.”

Directed by Theodore Melfi, “Hidden Figures” opens Jan 6 and also stars Mahershala Ali, Kevin Costner, Kirsten Dunst, and Jim Parsons.

Mariah Carey Lights Up Empire State Building With “All I Want For Christmas Is You”
On Monday night the Empire State Building in New York City was literally lit with holiday cheer.
Pop music icon Mariah Carey teamed up with the Empire State Realty Trust, and renowned lighting designer Marc Brickman, to create a dancing light show to her classic holiday song, “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” The tower lights illuminated with color while the song was simulcast on iHeartRadio stations such as New York’s Z100, 103.5 KTU and 106.7 Lite FM.

Earlier in the month, Mariah helped kick off the holiday season by “flipping the switch” at a lighting ceremony in ESB’s famed Fifth Avenue lobby.
“I can see the Empire State Building from my apartment, and it is one of my favorite buildings in the world,” said Carey. “To have its iconic lights synched to my song is the perfect gift this holiday season.”

New Yorkers will be able to watch the show each night at 7 p.m. through December 25.

New Hip Hop Music: French Montana Feat. Kodak Black, Jeezy, & Rick Ross – ‘Lockjaw (Remix)’
French Montana enlists Jeezy and Rick Ross for a star-studded remix to his Kodak Black-assisted single, “Lockjaw.”
The DJ Clue-hosted remix also comes with an appearance from DJ Khaled, who introduces the track. “This the remix,” alerts the Snapchat King. “Remix!”
Kodak is still on the remix and his presence is also felt on others’ verses. Jizzle references Black’s pending criminal sexual conduct case. “Rappers on that rap shit, Snow was rich before that,” he raps. “That Draco in that droptop, screaming ‘Free Kodak.'”
Rozay, meanwhile, references Meek Mill’s relationship with Nicki Minaj, which is rumored to be over. “On the first day, she got me two pair of the Three Stripes,” he raps. “Nicki watching me and Meek shooting with three dice.”

Montana originally dropped “Lockjaw” as part of his Wave Gods mixtape in February. Since then, he unveiled a music video for the track, which was also slated to appear on MC4. That project was eventually scrapped, but this remix lives on.

The KKK Is EXPOSED In a New A&E Docu-Series “Generation KKK”
For those who like to say there's no racism in 2016, here’s the perfect example that racism is still alive and well today.
A&E got unprecedented access to film prominent Klan families to give viewers an inside look at what goes on behind the scenes of the KKK.

“Generation KKK” is an eight-part documentary series (with footage from over a year and a half) that will follow members of the Ku Klux Klan and those who wish to leave the hate group. It will center around the children who are being lured into the ways of the KKK and family members of Klansmen who are fighting to stop the vicious cycle, according to executive producer Aengus James.
In the new trailer, Steven Howard, the Imperial Wizard of the North Mississippi White Knights, is shown teaching his children how to be come future Klansmen. Steven wishes for his daughter Maggie to become the first female Imperial Wizard, but Maggie wants no parts of it. In fact, she has black friends that she considers to be her closest friends, unbeknownst to her father.

In another clip, Steven is seen gifting three of his daughters with Klan hoodies. It’s reported that the KKK is growing in numbers. According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, the number of independent Klan chapters in the United States (there is no national organization) grew from 72 to 190 between 2014 and 2015. The Anti-Defamation League estimates membership at 3,000, while the law center places the figure at between 5,000 and 8,000.
The series will also follow anti-hate activists who are fighting against the KKK. Daryle Lamont Jenkins is the founder of One Peoples Project. The organization monitors and publishes information about alleged racist and far right groups and individuals. It will also introduce anti-hate activist Arno Michaelis and Bryon Widner, both former white supremacists.

While A+E tends to focus on educational aspects of America history and entertainment, social media has been on fire about whether or not this series is necessary.  And, if it's actually giving credence and a platform to hate.  Some combat that argument saying that America needs to see and feel exactly WHY we are not in a post-racial society like many think we are.  This series could serve as that educational wake up call.

Kanye West Cancels Planned European Leg Of Saint Pablo Tour
*Kanye West has decided not to take his popular Saint Pablo Tour overseas as originally planned.
The 39-year-old rapper, who spent several days in a hospital under psychiatric evaluation, was set to book shows in France, Germany and the United Kingdom in 2017, according to TMZ. But dates had yet to be officially announced.

In late November, West canceled the remaining dates of his North American leg, citing “exhaustion.” At the time Kanye was at UCLA Medical Center, sources connected with the rapper insisted the tour would eventually go on.
But his team has since contacted concert promoter Live Nation and informed them the second leg — which for the most part was European — has officially been cancelled, TMZ reports.

Since Ye has an insurance policy that reimburses him for any lost profits or expenses associated with cancellations that result from a medical condition, the cancellation of his North American leg led to speculation that his hospitalization was an attempt to back out of the shows while still getting paid.

New Justice League Photo With The Flash, Batman and Wonder Woman
The Justice League movie doesn’t hit theaters until Nov. 2017, but we’re still thirsting for details anyway. A new photo from the forthcoming film features The Flash, Batman and Wonder Woman.
Entertainment Weekly shared the photo, and some vague details about the flick.
“I’m super happy with the chemistry of my league of justice doers,” says director Zack Snyder (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), who’s in the middle of editing the November release.

Justice League will delve into the details of how these individual heroes readjust their egos to fight as a collective. Turns out, aligning these disparate — and outsized — personalities can be as difficult as fighting bad guys.

Take Ezra Miller’s version of the Flash, the league’s overly excitable kid brother who uses humor to mask his pain. “Flash is Ringo Starr,” says Miller, pictured here alongside allies the Dark Knight (Ben Affleck) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot). “He annoys everybody, but he doesn’t have any specific beef with anyone.”
We’ll see more Gal Gadot—one of the better parts of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice—in the Wonder Woman film, due out June 2, 2017.

Stevie J Admits He’s In Love With Faith Evans!
Stevie J is finally coming clean about his relationship with Faith Evans. The producer and reality star appeared on “The Breakfast Club” Thursday morning and dished on not only his love life but a few other rumors.
Back in August, it was reported that Stevie and Faith were dating. The Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta star said the two have been friends for years and took the relationship to another level while together on the Bad Boy Reunion tour.

“I just feel that I shouldn’t have crossed that line because once you cross that line, emotions really overwhelm,” he explained. “Once you start dating your best friend, it’s a little different.”
In recent months, the duo have posted cute shots together on social media, and Stevie even admitted in the promo for his new reality show, Leave It To Stevie (premiering December 19), that he loves Evans.
Awww, how cute … so what’s the status of his relationship with Joseline Hernandez? According to Stevie, the two are not speaking, and he still wants full custody of the baby, if it’s his. Oh, and he also wants a psychological evaluation done on Joseline to prove she can handle motherhood.

Blake Lively & Ryan Reynolds’ second daughter is named ‘Ines’!
Last week, we got our first-ever look at Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ two daughters. It was for a good cause, I guess: Ryan received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and he had just received a Golden Globe nomination for Deadpool. His career is going well, and he was named in many of the “best of year” lists. Plus, he’s so obviously proud of his young family and I just think he’s chilled out so much since marrying Blake and becoming a dad.
Anyway, their oldest daughter James was born in December 2014, and it was the first-ever public photo-op for the two year old. She pulled focus like a champ, running around and literally dropping the mic. She was amazing. Ryan finally said that they had named James after his late father, which made it a little more difficult to joke about how they had given their baby girl such a “boy name.” Still, we did like to theorize about what they had named their second daughter, born a few months ago. I was particularly enthusiastic about Girl Michael. Or perhaps Peter. Or Nathaniel. Or Javier. But no! Us Weekly got the confirmation:

The family’s first public outing caused a stir, but get ready for another big reveal: Us Weekly can also exclusively confirm the name of the couple’s 2-month-old baby: Ines.
[From Us Weekly]
Ines. Ines Reynolds. It’s interesting that the first and last name end on the “s” sound, although I’m tempted to pronounce Ines like “Inez,” with more of the LIZA WITH A Z sound. I suppose it could be pronounced with the soft “en-es” or “Ennis” sound though. I need to hear Blake say it!
