LeBron James Accepts Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year Award: 'This is Much Bigger Than Me'
LeBron James is ending 2016 on an impressive note.
This year alone, the Cleveland Cavaliers star pledged a $2.5 million donation to the Muhammad Ali exhibit at the recently opened Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, announced he’ll be the executive producer of an HBO documentary on Muhammad Ali, spoke out multiple times on gun violence and social justice and, on Monday night, accepted his second Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year award (the only other athlete to do so is Tiger Woods).
“It’s never about the individual,” James, 31, said during his acceptance speech at the awards ceremony at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. “It’s about the people behind him.”
“This award is for my wife. This award is for my mother. This award is for my three kids back home,” James said. “This award is for the great Muhammad Ali, for Bill Russell, for Jim Brown, for Kareem Abdul-Jabbar … So as I stand up here, as the recipient of the 2016 Sportsperson of the Year, this isn’t about me, this is much bigger than me and I just want to say thank you to everyone.”
The award was presented by rapper and friend Jay-Z, 47, who commended James for his “commitment to basketball” and for the way the athlete has “enriched the lives of everyone around him.”
“LeBron James has made all of those around him better on and off the court. We acknowledge and recognize all he has done for the game,” he said. “Aside from the fierce competitor and the dominating basketball player who is LeBron James … The individual philanthropist, the man, LeBron James is even better than the basketball player. It’s hard to believe.”
Before the event, James told reporters he “almost” felt like he “wasn’t supposed” to be among the greats in attendance at the event — like legendary athletes Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Jim Brown and Bill Russell, who all accepted the SI Muhammad Ali Legacy award. David Ortiz was also at the event, presenting the Rising Star title to Cleveland Indians shortstop Francisco Lindor.
DJ Khaled presented the Sportskid of the Year award and Kendrick Lamar stopped by for a surprise performance.
Also honored at the event was Michael Phelps, 31, who took home the award for greatest Olympian of all time.
#RHoA: Kenya Moore Stands Up To Matt Jordan And Reveals All The Incidents Of Violence
Miss Kenya Moore isn’t going to sit by quietly as Matt Jordan calls her out on Instagram, accusing her of lying. After a new report came out this morning, showing a handful of Matt’s arrests from this year, she took to social media to blast him over all of the incidents she’s dealt with over the past year.
TMZ shared Matt‘s four most recent mugshots for various offenses (most having to do with driving issues – one a felony where he fled from police). In her Instagram blast which included a screen-capture of the mugshots, Kenya points out the insanity she has been through with Matt throughout the course of their relationship, defending herself and the accusations that she’s dating Matt for a storyline. Kenya wrote, “There were no cameras around in Mexico when the door was kicked in and police escorted him out. There were no cameras the now FOUR times my home was vandalized. There were no cameras filming when my neighbors called 911. There were no cameras filming when the Vegas hotel kicked him out for being violent and destroying the hotel room. There were no cameras around when I posted bail, paid for tickets, back owed rent to keep from being evicted, or never left his side when he cried in my arms to take him back countless times. And there were no cameras around when he got arrested for a felony last month (for the 4th time in a year) tazed, handcuffed and fled on foot. There were no cameras when he was banned from filming because of his violence.”
Kenya continued, “I’m not playing the victim. I’m fighting back. I Will not continue to be abused by someone who now wants to exploit something I was accused of 5 years ago by a scorned lover as payback to hurt me to justify violent his behavior.
The only thing Matt is guilty of is acting a fool. Yet to continue to abuse me by claiming to be an actor is a joke.”
She ended her Instagram post with a few parting words (and a dozen hashtags) for Matt. “I guess the $100k poor man’s version of a woman is lying about the steroids she bought you too… or the part about sex without condoms #bitchbye
#IWillNeverBeLiedOnAgain #receipts #NotToday #IAmMyOwnStoryline #HeNeededMe #BitchesBeLike #OneStoryOneTruth #RHOA.”
All I can say is I hope Kenya is done with Matt for good. This is obviously a toxic relationship that needs to be over.

Golden Globes Snubs Taraji P. Henson!
Year after year, people scoff at the Golden Globes and year after year, many of those same people stamp their feet at not getting any love from the much-feted members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Here are some of the biggest titles and names that were passed over this morning:
Taraji P. Henson – The Empire star is the heart and soul of Hidden Figures, and while her co-star Octavia Spencer got a Supporting Actress nom, the cookie did not crumble for last year’s Best Actress – TV Series Drama winner.
New Music: Mario – Let Me Help You
From “Let Me Love You” to “Let Me Help You,” Mario is back with a brand new single off his forthcoming album.
Previously this year, the R&B vocalist teased fans with the up-tempo record “I Need More,” which had many fans craving more. The pop-leaning “Let Me Help You” is now officially the first single from Mario’s fifth album, Paradise Cove.
The mesmerizing record opens with a gloomy and chilling production that quickly transitions to a vibrant island feel that will have you grooving throughout. Mario flaunts his charisma by pleading with his love interest, letting her know that although he is aware that she is self sufficient, he desires to be there to help her love again.
“R&B needs to feel cool and fun again,” Mario told The FADER. “A simple conversation, catchy melody and a story that draws in my listeners is what I feel like ‘Let Me Help You’ does. There is enough music about egotistical perceptions and not enough about love especially in urban music. Love is still cool to me!”
Mario is planning to deliver his most artistic project yet, Paradise Cove, at the top of next year and is excited to deliver this single as a labor of love to his fans ahead of the holidays.

#BLOOP! Mary J. Blige Demands Ex-Husband Return Her Grammy, two Benzes and More
*Mary J. Blige is asking a court to force her estranged husband Martin “Kendu” Isaacs to return several items that he was supposed to give back to her in February…including one of her Grammy awards, TMZ reports.
The singer alleges in new divorce documents that he’s holding onto her Grammy, other awards and her two Mercedes Benzes – a C300 and SL550.
The singer also states that her ex-husband conned her out of $420,000 in business expenses when he served as her manager.
As previously reported, Kendu is demanding nearly $130,000 in spousal support and other luxuries, like a private chef, personal trainer and a wardrobe.
The pair married in 2003 and Blige filed for divorce in July citing “irreconcilable differences.”

Barbara Walters Reportedly Feels Like ABC Execs ‘Ruined’ the Legacy of ‘The View’
Barbara Walters is NOT happy with what ABC has done to ‘The View’ since her departure, according to reports.
via Page Six: “She feels they’ve ruined the franchise that she and Bill Geddie built. Instead of focusing on smart, educated women with strong talent, they cast uninformed child actors on the show. The legacy has been compromised because of poor casting and bad leadership under ABC News,” a source told us.
Walters is so over the show that she even ditched a post-election appearance, which reunited original hosts, Debbie Matenopoulos, Meredith Vieira, Joy Behar and Star Jones. Walters’ longtime rep told us she was vacationing with her daughter in Florida. “It was a prearranged vacation for the two of them. She calls the control room multiple times a week to offer her suggestions. She has a wonderful relationship with the show,” she said.
Meanwhile, “The View” continues to part ways with its talent. Candace Cameron Bure is the latest casualty of the talk show. The actress announced last week that she would not be returning to the show after going missing for several weeks, according to insiders.
“She was at a ‘Hot Topics’ meeting and said she didn’t feel well. She went home and no one heard from her for several weeks — even her close friends at the show. People thought she was about to have a breakdown because she was exhausted. She didn’t return anyone’s calls and went AWOL. We were not surprised when she returned and asked to get out of her contract,” an insider said.
Several sources told Page Six last summer that the show would slowly phase out Bure and Raven-Symoné in order to avoid another embarrassing public shake-up at ABC. Raven-Symoné flew the coop in October. Paula Faris remains on the show, splitting her time with “Good Morning America.”
An ABC rep said BaWa was fully on board: “There’s no better producer than Barbara Walters, and we’re always grateful for her notes about the show. The ratings are up, and we’re very proud of the team.”

Lamar Odom Heads Back To Rehab
Khloe Kardashian’s ex-husband Lamar Odom has been photographed over the past few months looking extremely happy and jovial, a demeanor we haven’t seen from the former NBA player in a while.
It’s been over a year since Odom was found unconscious inside a Nevada brothel after an apparent drug overdose. After being nursed back to health by his then wife, Khloe, the athlete still apparently struggled with substance abuse. But now, it’s being reported that Odom is ready to take matters into his own hands.
According to TMZ, the athlete is heading for another round of rehab and is doing so by choice. Per the news outlet, the 37-year-old is currently receiving treatment in the San Diego area and has already been there for four years.
Lamar has struggled with drug abuse for years, which essentially drew he and Khloe apart.
Kardashian first filed for divorce back in December 2013, but put a stop to the proceedings after Odom’s near death experience last October. In May 2016, however, she filed again, citing irreconcilable differences.
In October 2016, the divorce was finalized.
Mehgan James Claims Keke Palmer Is Sleeping With An Athlete With An “Incurable STD”
Keke Palmer is known to use social media to sound off on controversial topics such as bullying, but this time, the Scream Queen’s social antics are rubbing one reality star the wrong way.
Over the weekend, Keke took some time for herself to binge watch a little guilty pleasure television. While catching up Bad Girls Club, Palmer was sharing her thoughts on Twitter, but the star’s commentary was taken to another level after BGC co-star Mehgan James got wind of it.
It all started when Keke responded to one Twitter follower’s question about who her favorite was (the fan suggesting that Mehgan was hers). “Ashley really,” Palmer wrote. “Meghan just too corny, her and Julie to me are so weak.”
James reposted Palmer’s comment and suggested that the actress sounded “like a hater.” Then … it was on like Donkey Kong.
Palmer then continued her rant on the social media website, writing that reality stars “must be able to separate the difference between someone being entertaining and them being likable. I’m so happy to be in the space in my life where I can accept that other ppl gonna always have their own feelings about me.”
She continued, “And understanding that half the folks that try to down play you are people that you would never be involved with anyway. It’s not a problem if you are an apple and they like oranges because there’s a whole group of people that love apples!”
On Monday morning, James continued to respond to Keke’s tirade, writing: “Miss keke, I’m sorry that I upset you so much so that you had to go on a rant . It seems to me that your ‘re worried about the wrong things.”
James then started to hit below the belt, going after Keke’s apparent “hygiene,” alleged promiscuity and making claims the star is sleeping with “multiple athletes.”
The reality star concluded with a tweet that read: “You would think that A list celebs like miss keke would not have time , the strenuous days of reading scripts to even watch bgc.”
Sound off: Did Mehgan take Keke’s comments too far?
Flip or Flop’s Tarek & Christina El Moussa separate after explosive fight
When I was covering the drama surrounding Fixer Upper’s star couple, Chip and Joanna Gaines, I was disturbed to discover that many commenters were more interested in the Flip or Flop couple, Tarek and Christina El Moussa. Why did I find it so disturbing? Because I can’t stand them. Tarek gives off addict-vibes, and seems like a guy who buys houses instead of just outright gambling. Christina is vapid and a terrible designer who always, inevitably wants to buy the most expensive sh-t for the properties they are trying to flip. Both of them make my skin crawl, although I didn’t have a lot of evidence to back up my general feelings of unease. Now I do. Tarek and Christina have separated following some sort of crazy fight.
“Flip or Flop” stars Tarek and Christina El Moussa portray the chipper, nearly perfect all-American couple on TV but we’ve learned they’re now separated …after a scary incident involving guns and a feared suicide attempt. Their ordeal started, at least publicly, in May when deputies responded to “a call of a possibly suicidal male with a gun” at the couple’s Orange County home. According to law enforcement, a massive presence showed up — 11 deputies and a helicopter.
Witnesses told cops they saw Tarek grab a gun from his safe, run out the back door and flee down a hiking trail. Shortly after, Christina was seen running out of the house crying and shaking. Within minutes, the helicopter spotted Tarek on a trail and deputies told him to drop his weapon. Tarek complied and told deputies he had no intention of hurting himself. He said he wanted to “blow off some steam,” and only brought the gun for mountain lions and rattlesnakes.
Deputies went back to the house and ended up seizing 5 guns, including an AR-15.
Christina and Tarek tell us they decided to separate while they reevaluate their marriage. As far as the incident goes … they’ll only say it was an “unfortunate misunderstanding.” They add … they’re committed to co-parenting, and … “will continue to work through this process civilly and cooperatively, and plan to continue our professional life together.”
[From TMZ]
You’re telling me that a sweaty, nervous guy who gets “high” on high-stakes realty-flipping has access to automatic weapons, and that he had some kind of explosive fight with his wife? You’re joking! I never would have thought. I can only be sarcastic about this because it seems like no one was hurt, and because the police wisely took his guns away. Although if this sh-t went down in May, I bet the police had to return his guns to him. Just keep that in mind when you’re watching Flip or Flop. I hope Christina took their kids and went far, far away.
