The Daily Buzz For Oct 5

Ciara Rocks The Cover Of #Legend Magazine
Ciara slips into a Lanvin rose gold, belted trench coat and rocks blonde locks with bangs, in her stunning cover for #Legend magazine.
The singer and model signed with IMG Models earlier this year, and also wed her beau, Seattle Seahawks quarterback, Russell Wilson. Inside the issue, she talks her modeling career, her husband, motherhood and new music.

Read a few highlights from the interview here:

On if she was interested in a modeling career when she was younger:
It’s funny, I used to say I would model and act. Those were my two things growing up. It’s funny because I ended up doing it all, plus being an entertainer. But before I had a career as an entertainer, those two were something I was constantly about. Going further back, I thought about becoming a lawyer.
On if we’ll see her on the runway any time soon:
Yes, I think that would be cool. I think walking or doing something unique, like performing, would be really cool too. I’m still an entertainer first. But I would love to walk down a runway. Maybe on one of my collaborations, that would be really fun and different.

On new projects she’s working on:
Well, I’m making an album. That’s really exciting, it’s something I’m taking my time on. I want to make sure that I put myself in every part of it, all my creative thoughts, feelings, everything on this album. But I can’t say where I am in the process right now. I don’t want to mark a specific point but what’s important is that it will be something for the fans, whom I’m very grateful for. I’m not at a place where I’m ready to share the creative details because I want it to be special for my fans when I do share it. I want it to be exciting when it’s time for me to share it. I can’t wait for that day to come.
On her July wedding in England:
I definitely can say it was two of the most perfect days in my life. The day before and the day of the actual wedding was a special time. When we get married, we only get it once, you can’t repeat it. So, it was like, man, it’s over already?
It was honestly so beautiful and I really felt like I was in a fairy tale. It was everything I hoped for. Everything I could have hoped for, dreamed of, happened on that day. It was memorable. We spent two days with all the people that we love, your family and your close friends. I’m definitely still floating, it’s only three months ago and it’s crazy how time goes by.

On the best part of motherhood:
Motherhood, oh my gosh, it’s one of the best jobs in life. My family, my son and my husband, those are the things that keep me grounded and centred and there’s no better feeling than coming back and seeing him smile after a long day. You put him in a bath, you put him in bed, read a book, those moments are great to end the day and keeps life in perspective because all your child wants from you is love. They don’t care about a lot of the things we care about anyway. Being a mom is part of what motivates me in my every day life.

#RHoA: Uh Oh? NeNe has been hot with ANOTHER TAX LIEN!

Former Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes financial troubles continue to worsen as she was hit with a second tax lien in four months - this time for nearly $100,000.
Leakes, whose real name is Linnethia Monique Leakes, was hit with a state tax lien from the Georgia Department of Revenue for $95,232.92 on September 22 over unpaid taxes from 2014.
In July, the federal government also hit the 48-year-old reality star with a tax lien, threatening to seize her assets if she didn’t pay $830,000 in back federal taxes from the same year.
The state tax lien that was filed in September shows that Leakes originally owed $58,458, but it has grown with interest ($9,715.71), penalties ($15,317.61), collection fees ($11,691.60) and other costs.

If she does not pay her debt soon, the Department of Revenue will begin the process of seizing her assets and property.
The federal and state liens still remain active, meaning she has yet to pay off her debt.
In 2014, Leakes appeared on the 18th season of Dancing with the Stars - where she placed seventh.
That same year, she announced the launch of The NeNe Leakes Collection on the Home Shopping Network and in made her Broadway debut in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella.
Last year, Leakes dropped $2million on a brand new six-bedroom, six-bathroom, 9,511square-foot home in Deluth, Georgia.
The home is in a gated community that features a country club, golf course and several other amenities.

Well NeNe maybe you need to return back to RHoA!

#EMPIRE: Taraji P. Henson Opens Up About Domestic Abuse at the Hands of Her 'Forever Man' in New Memoir
Taraji P. Henson is getting candid about her painful past.

In her upcoming memoir, Around The Way Girl, Henson reveals that she broke off her relationship with the love of her life, whom she refers to only as Mark, after he allegedly hit her — only to have him die violently at just 34.
Now a single mother to their 22-year-old son, Marcell, the actress proves she is just as strong as Cookie Lyon, the character she plays on FOX’s popular show Empire.
In the new book, out Oct. 11, Henson explains that she first met Mark when she was just 17 years old. From the beginning it was a passionate but turbulent relationship, in part because Mark felt he was somehow inferior to Henson.

“You’re better than me,” she recalls him saying to her, while she rested in his arms. “You need to leave me alone.”
They broke up and Mark went on to father two children with separate women. However, the pair got together in the early ’90s when Henson was at Howard University where she studied theater.
Henson stayed in school during her pregnancy and initially felt supported by Mark, but writes that things began to unravel after Marcell’s birth. She recalls that the stress of a new baby, working and Mark’s disappearances late at night resulted in a huge fight one night that turned physical.
“The next thing I knew, Mark’s balled-up fist was coming straight for my face. I fell onto the bed crying and holding my mouth; blood seeped off my lips and across my teeth,” Henson writes. “Droplets splashed across my shoes … slowly creeping into the fibers of my suede boots.”
After she saw the blood, Henson writes that she screamed at him: “This is over! Get your s— and get out!”

Though her father encouraged them to reconcile, Henson ended the relationship — for the well-being of herself and her baby.
“With that separation, my forever man, my first love, was no more,” she writes.
While Henson raised their child on her own, Mark wasn’t completely out of the picture. She remembers the last time Mark was with their son. It was Christmas and the two played tic-tac-toe. Marcell was upset because he’d lost. In response, Mark “put his hand on his shoulder and schooled him,” writes Henson. Johnson told their son: “Use your head, black man.”

This was a moment Henson still cherishes because “love was there” in both Mark’s look and words.
Three weeks later, Henson got a call from Mark’s mother and was told five words that would forever alter her and her son’s life: “Mark was killed last night.”
Though Henson doesn’t share the details surrounding his death and never uses his full name, news reports at the time indicated that Henson’s boyfriend, William LaMarr “Mark” Johnson, was violently beaten and stabbed after a confrontation over slashed tires.

While Henson was devastated by Mark’s death, she continued to fight for success for herself and Marcell.
“I’m not some fantasy. I’m tangible,” Henson once said while reflecting on her role as Cookie. “And I bring that realness not only to the screen, where it deserves to be, but also out into the world.”

Hip Hop News: THE ROOTS’ ‘ILLADELPH HALFLIFE’ TURNS 20
Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson is revisiting hip-hop history on his new Pandora show “Questlove Supreme,” so it’s only right that The Roots’ legendary footsteps get retraced too. It’s even more fitting to do that through the lens of Illadelph Halflife, The Roots’ third album, which celebrated its 20th anniversary on Saturday (Sept. 24).
What made this project special? The 20-track effort came at a crucial point in the band’s voyage, causing their tides to turn in major ways. Here’s a look back at 1996 and how it impacted The Roots’ quest towards their current iconic status.

INITIAL RECEPTION
Upon its release, the jazz-infused project was celebrated for being “innovative” by Entertainment Weekly, which awarded it an A- rating. The Source — then still known as “The Bible of Hip-Hop” — gave it 4.5/5 mics, calling it a “thoughtful musical endeavor.” But those positive reviews only came after long hours in the lab, trying to perfect the crew’s sound.

In his 2013 memoir, Mo Meta Blues: The World According to Questlove, Ahmir called Illadelph an important shift in the band’s trajectory. “We didn’t want to be as soft as we were on the earlier record, but we didn’t want to surrender our thinking-man’s perch, either,” he wrote. “We split the difference by making the music harder, and by making songs that sounded like they were based on samples, though in fact we were sampling ourselves.”

QUESTLOVE’S MISSION
How did The Roots arrive at this new approach? Though it may seem baffling now, changes came about after DJs criticized Questlove’s drumming. They claimed his beats “fluctuated” too much, hurting the group’s appeal.

“Suddenly, I became the bad guy in The Roots,” Ahmir revealed in his 2014 Red Bull Music Academy lecture. “People were like, ‘Fine. We’re just gonna become a regular rap group and rhyme over regular breaks.’ I’m like, ‘Wait. I’m not about to be fired in my own group.'”
That gave Questlove all the motivation he needed. Two months before the group started recording, he sequestered himself in the studio. “I felt like Jack Nicholson in Batman,” he added. “Like, ‘Wait ’till they get ahold of me!’ I said, ‘I’m gonna be the coldest, most emotionless, an absolute machine.’ I spent hours and hours and hours. I probably did another 10,000 hours. I wanted to learn everything about engineering.” The result was Illadelph, a jazz-fueled, Wu-Tang Clan-inspired LP filled with equal parts grit and mellow vibes.

LYRICAL STRENGTHS
While the music was elevated, Illadelph was also a pivotal touchstone in the group’s lyrical progression. Black Thought continued to sharpen his storytelling sword with tracks like “The Hypnotic,” a romance-tinged predecessor to Things Fall Apart’s “You Got Me” classic. He dropped true school theories on rap’s changing landscape on “What They Do,” a cut and video that would even cause The Notorious B.I.G. to take offense.
Beyond rap criticism though, Black also provided insightful, ever-relevant social commentary. “I’m thinkin’ it don’t cease,” he rhymes on “Panic!!!!!” “It’s no more peace / Police levels increase / But what the fuck? It’s still crime on the streets / I can’t breathe.”
Thought’s poignant pen was accompanied by dexterous peers. Malik B added his flavor to cuts like “It Just Don’t Stop,” where he addressed homicide, rape, and hate crimes. Elsewhere, Dice Raw delivered even more of that, discussing gun violence on “Episodes,” for example. “Ni**as causin’ mayhem from the p.m.s to a.m.s,” he raps. “America’s worst nightmare: guns in kids’ hands.”

CONSISTENCY & CONTINUITY
With more social commentary over revamped soundscapes, Illadelph marked a new era for The Roots, but that didn’t mean they wanted it detached from their past. In fact, the group took extra care to ensure its continuity. In some runs, they even began the tracklist at No. 34, a continuation of Organix, which consisted of 17 songs, and Do You Want More?!!!??!, which was made up of 16 cuts.
“It was a small gesture,” Ahmir wrote in Mo Meta Blues, “and possibly more annoying than effective, but we wanted to push back a bit against the idea that records were simply products or isolated snapshots that weren’t connected, spiritually or even physically, to the albums that came before and the albums, as yet unmade, that would come afterward.”

LEGACY
Looking back, The Roots’ wish for every album to be a part of a continuum makes sense. Twenty years after this release, it’s tough to pick out their best album, with standouts like 1999’s Things Fall Apart, 2011’s Undun, and, of course, Illadelph Halflife, among others still shining brightly.
Whether it’s deemed their best or not though, the LP remains a vital footstep in a legendary journey worth revisiting even two decades after it dropped.
The voyage continues. Join the Quest on Pandora every Wednesday at 1 p.m. EST/10 a.m. PST as Questlove adds to his storied career, sharing insightful knowledge alongside co-host Phonte and some very special guests.

Karl Lagerfeld To Kim Kardashian: It’s YOUR Fault You Were Robbed!
Is Kim Kardashian to blame for being robbed? Karl Lagerfeld certainly thinks so. In a recent interview, the Chanel fashion icon said that he believes that Keeping Up With the Kardashian reality star is too flashy with her money. In fact, he hints that she’s partly to blame for the heist, in which she was tied up and robbed of millions of dollars of jewelry.
(She is) too public, too public — we have to see in what time we live. You cannot display your wealth then be surprised that some people want to share it.

He added, I don’t understand why (Kardashian) was in a hotel with no security and things like this.
If you are that famous and you put all your jewelry on the net you go to hotels where nobody can come near to the room.
As previously reported, on October 2, while at her hotel in Paris, Kim was tied up and robbed of millions of dollars worth of jewelry at gunpoint by criminals disguised as police officers, who got in her residence by threatening the concierge. She was physically unharmed. She was in Paris for Paris Fashion Week. Kim, nor any member of her family, have yet to comment publicly about the incident.

So do you agree that Kim is at fault for the robbery?

Prince Death Investigation Focuses on Doctors
According to reports the investigation into rocker Prince's death is now focusing on his doctors and the prescription drug black market ...

From Yahoo News,
More than five months after Prince's fatal drug overdose, investigators have narrowed their focus to two main questions: whether doctors illegally prescribed opioids meant for the pop star and whether the fentanyl that killed him came from a black-market source, a law enforcement official said.
Those lines of inquiry raise the prospect that a doctor or doctors could be charged with writing unlawful prescriptions and that a separate suspect or set of suspects with ties to narcotics trafficking could be charged with supplying the fatal dose

Ladies, Jason Momoa Is Sorry He Missed The ‘Justice League’ Wrap Party
Apparently Justice League has wrapped in London (sorry Amber Heard), but is moving to Westfjords of Iceland to film some more scenes. I guess Jason Momoa has to be there immediately and couldn’t miss the London wrap party. He’s so sorry that he apologized to everyone who wasn’t there my taking his shirt off. And if I’m being honest, if I looked like Jason Momoa, I’d walk around apologizing for things I didn’t even do to people who weren’t there either. Like the people who didn’t see the Blair Witch reboot, because I’d like to hit up as many people as possible. His pics below

‘American Horror Story’ Renewed by FX for Season 7
FX has renewed “American Horror Story” for a seventh installment to air 2017.
The news is no surprise given the franchise’s status as a tentpole of FX’s schedule. The most recent incarnation of the 20th Century Fox TV anthology drama, “American Horror Story: Roanoke,” has averaged a total of 13 million viewers across linear and non-linear platforms since its Sept. 14 debut.
“AHS” creators/exec producers Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk ignited the current mania for recurring anthology series with the convention-busting success of the first edition in 2011.

“Ryan, Brad and their team of remarkable writers have done an amazing job of keeping ‘American Horror Story’ endlessly inventive, shocking and entertaining and we are honored to move ahead with them on the seventh installment,” said FX Networks and FX Productions CEO John Landgraf. “The sustained success through six installments only proves how intensely the series resonates with fans. ‘AHS‘ confronts our deepest fears with unmatched suspense and style. Each new installment is a cultural event, hotly anticipated for its theme, imagery, cast and twists.”

FX noted that various episodes of “AHS” installments account for 12 of FX’s top 15 highest-rated telecast of all time. The series has also collected 15 Emmy Awards over the years, including two for “AHS” regular Jessica Lange.
