Kendall Jenner is on the cover Vogue's September 2016 Issue
Having transcended childhood TV infamy to become a breakout model of her generation, Kendall Jenner was picked to adorn the September 2016 issue of Vogue magazine.
The 20-year-old beauty posed in a skin-baring Gucci frock for the front page shot while changing into dresses from the likes of Proenza Schouler and Maison Margiela for the Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott shot spread.
Set to hit newsstands on August 23rd, highlights from Miss Jenner's accompanying interview with Jonathan Van Meter are below!
On liking to get dirty, working with her hands and figuring stuff out:
“We had ATVs and go-carts, and I grew up riding them all the time, which is why I’m a good driver,” Kendall says. “It’s super-ironic to think about now, but it’s something I can thank my dad for: how much of a tomboy I was. That’s why I think the whole thing— her transition— was really hard for me, because I was like ‘But you taught me everything tomboy!’” It has gotten easier. “I knew it was going to have its rough phase,” she says. “But it’s all supernormal now. It’s not weird at all. Sometimes I look at a picture of my dad when she was a guy, and it makes me a little sad— I get emotional. You have to get past it— you’ve got a new person to love. It’s kind of a blessing in disguise— if that’s not the wrong way to say it."
On mention that the name Kardashian has turned into an oft unkind adjective:
“Oh my God, I toadually get what you’re saying,” she says. “People say a lot of what they think, and it’s not always positive. And we never say anything. We just take it. And then when people meet us, they’re pleasantly surprised. Because we aren’t what people think. One of the best lessons I ever learned from my sisters is not to take everything so seriously. Just leave it alone— it will pass in a week. That’s how I grew up. My sisters are so f**king strong, and they taught me and my little sister to just toughen up and not let it affect us. You know whats real.”
On the impact and experience her transgender father has had on her:
“We’re very accepting of people and being different and being who you are. We’re not judgemental. But obviously it’s strange to having your dad, who was so male, completely reverse. It is definitely a gnarly experience. But my whole life we would, like, catch her, and we would be like, What is going on here? I think we know, but do we? At one point, Kylie and I thought he was cheating on my mom, because he had makeup and nail polish. One time we found those squishy boob things. We found wigs. And then one time I actually ran into her. In this house. She had no idea. She would wake up really early just so she could dress up and move around the house and get that little kick for the morning, and then go back to being Bruce— take us to school, totally normal. So one morning I woke up at 4:00 A.M. so thirsty, came downstairs into the kitchen, and grabbed a bottle of water. And as I was coming back out, my dad was coming down the stairs in, like, a wig and makeup and shoes—the full nine. And she didn’t see me. I literally froze. Please don’t turn left. Because she could either turn left or right. Thank God she turned right and— to this day!— has no idea that happened. That was the first time I had ever seen her.” She pauses for a moment. “My mom knew. She knew since their third date."

SAY WHAT? Empire Season 3: Taye Diggs May Be Cookie Lyon’s Love Interest
As Empire Season 3 draws closer, the showrunners are slowly revealing more and more juicy tidbits about the hit television series. Most recently, they did so at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour.
The latest is about a potential love interest for Empire‘s formidable matriarch, Cookie Lyon, played by Taraji P. Henson. Taye Diggs’ character, Angelo DuBois, may be filling that role, according to Entertainment Tonight.
“His story is all about Cookie. It starts out as a Jamal story and, like everything else, everybody intersects. But it’s primarily a story about Cookie,” Empire executive producer Ilene Chaiken revealed recently.
She didn’t confirm that Angelo and Cookie will be hooking up in Season 3, but there’s definitely an interest on Angelo’s side.
“He certainly would like to be,” Chaiken said in reference to whether or not Angelo wants to be romantically-involved with Cookie.
Henson also weighed in on a potential romance between Cookie and Angelo, whose character has been compared to President Barack Obama.
“He’s going to have to work because Cookie’s gotten her heart broken way too many times,” the actress said.
As Empire fans know, Cookie and Lucious Lyon (played by Terrence Howard) have had a tumultuous relationship, estranged but unable to deny the chemistry and history they have together. Not to mention the fact that they can practically read each other’s minds, and they’ll always one thing in common — their sometimes-flawed devotion to their children.
“Cookie is going to try in Season 3 to leave Lucious. She’s going to try to move on. Whether or not he lets her!” Ilene Chaiken said of the couple, Variety reports.
The cast and showrunners also addressed the shocking cliffhanger in Season 2 (slight spoilers ahead if you haven’t seen the Season 2 finale).
“Apart from some specific entertainment industry tricks that we fell into a little bit, what we try to be mindful of is that even though we’re telling stories, you can’t do that lightly. Killing [a character] is not your go-to move. It’s a huge move and we always challenge ourselves to find other places to go before we go there because that’s an endgame,” Chaiken said.
Earlier this week, TVLine reported that Mariah Carey will be guest starring on Empire Season 3 as a musician named Kitty. Kitty collaborates with Jamal Lyon (Jussie Smollett) on a new song, and helps him reach a “musical breakthrough.”
“She was great. She’s fabulous. She’s beautiful to look at. She brings a sense of what Mariah brings to the music industry. She brought it to our show. I’m grateful she spent time with little old us,” Henson said of Carey, who appears in the October 5 episode of the show.
Empire has become known for its slate of celebrity cameos, including Alicia Keys, Ne-Yo, radio personality Sway, Becky G, and more from past seasons. Rappers French Montana and Birdman are also on the list of cameos for Season 3.
Empire‘s producers said that its infamous cameos won’t distract from the series’ main premise though — the Lyons and their complex family dynamic.
“We learned that the stories that work best and that we love telling most are about the family, and that always will be our focus. No matter what’s going on at Empire, it’s always about the family,” Chaiken said.
The showrunners discussed possible spinoffs, as well, according to TV Guide. Chaiken admitted that there’s room for a spinoff focusing on Lucious and Cookie, and they’ve also considered crossing over with creator Lee Daniels’ other Fox television series, Star.
Star focuses on a girl group, played by Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny, and Brittany O’Grady. Like Empire, it will feature a soundtrack with original music and guest appearances from famous musicians. Fox picked the show up for a 13-series run, but a premiere date hasn’t been announced yet.
Empire Season 3 debuts on FOX on September 21 at 9 pm EST.

New Hip Hop: Here’s 4 New Tracks from Wale
Wale’s got time, as he proves with a barrage of new music. The new father has dropped four joints as part of his “Today….i Got Time!” playlist.
Folarin opens up with “Brightseat Road Freestyle,” which questions the industry’s rankings over Sango and Jake One production.
“Sky fallin’,” he raps. “The sky fallin’ / I’m left out of top 5s / It’s cool, I write for ’em.”
The second song on the playlist is “Heel/Face,” a wrestling-themed track about playing the hero and villain. Here, he rhymes about Donald Trump, his “baby mama,” and calls himself “the dopest poet.”
“Solbiato Freestyle” is the third track on the playlist. It offers Folarin’s thoughts on police relations and his own trendsetting ways.
Finally, he liberates his lost verse from “Sucker for Pain” off the Suicide Squad soundtrack (He claims he was removed from the final version).
“Sucker for love,” he rhymes. “Call me sucker for love / Falling in love is truly like succumbing to drugs.”
Earlier this year, the MMG rapper also released his Summer on Sunset mixtape featuring appearances by Tha Dogg Pound, Ty Dolla $ign, Cam’ron, DJ Mustard, and Eric Bellinger. He is readying his fifth album SHINE for release this fall.

Box Office: ‘Sausage Party’ Scores With $33.6 Million, ‘Suicide Squad’ Plunges in 2nd Weekend
(via Variety) “Sausage Party” scored at the box office this weekend, debuting to a meaty $33.6 million and providing a much needed win for struggling Sony Pictures. In a summer dominated by spinoffs and reboots, the story of a gang of grocery items grappling with the dangers of the kitchen, was an antidote to sequelitis and a reminder of the power of original ideas.
“It was the something different that adult audiences have been craving,” said Jeff Bock, an analyst with Exhibitor Relations. “When comedy pushes the envelope, that’s when it works best.”
In the case of “Sausage Party,” which liberally deploys sex jokes and four-letter words, it’s a foul-mouthed affair that more than earns its R-rating. The $19 million animated comedy was also backed by Annapurna Pictures, the maker of “The Master” and “American Hustle.” Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Edward Norton, Jonah Hill, and Bill Hader are among the sprawling vocal cast members.
“When you have something so fresh, it just stands out to audiences,” said Rory Bruer, Sony’s distribution chief. “People were blown away by the movie. It’s outrageous, off-the-wall fun.”
Sony has had a bruising period at the multiplexes, with flops such as “Ghostbusters,” “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies,” and “The 5th Wave” outweighing hits such as “The Shallows” and “The Angry Birds Movie.” The studio released “Sausage Party” in 3,103 locations, and “Sausage Party” now holds the record for the largest August opening ever for an animated film. It gives Sony momentum as it tries to put its recent bad run behind it and prepares for a fall and winter that will bring the debuts of “The Magnificent Seven” with Denzel Washington and “Passengers” with Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence.
And then there are victories that feel more like defeats. “Suicide Squad” topped domestic charts with $43.8 million, bringing its stateside total to a hefty $222.9 million. However, that represented a punishing 67% slide in the superhero movie’s second week business, nearly equaling “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’s” 69% sophomore plunge. It’s a signal that the deplorable reviews are catching up with the film and is unwelcome news for Warner Bros., which is trying to launch an inter-connected series of cinematic adventures based on DC Comics characters, but is still struggling to make movies that people like, as well as attend.
The weekend’s other major new release, Disney’s “Pete’s Dragon” faltered, mustering roughly $21.6 million from at 3,702 locations, despite scoring with critics. The remake of the 1977 family film about a boy who befriends a dragon stars Robert Redford and Bryce Dallas Howard. “Pete’s Dragon” snagged third place on the charts. It cost $65 million to make, but Disney believes that it could ultimately make a profit when its foreign grosses are factored into the picture.
“We’re going to come out of this having made money,” said Dave Hollis, Disney’s distribution chief. “People who are coming out of the theater are just loving it and their advocacy is going to help us put together a nice solid run.”
Coming in fourth, Universal’s “Jason Bourne” added $13.6 million to its haul, pushing its domestic total to $126.8 million. STX Entertainment’s “Bad Moms” rounded out the top five with $11.4 million. The raunchy comedy has been a breakout hit for the new studio, earning $71.5 million to date on a $20 million production budget, and holding well on a week-to-week basis despite the presence of summer tentpoles.
Paramount debuted “Florence Foster Jenkins,” a comedy about a horrific opera singer and heiress (Meryl Streep) who rents out Carnegie Hall for a public performance, in 1,528 locations. The film did a muted $6.6 million worth of business, and appealed primarily to older audiences, with 97% of its opening weekend crowd clocking in over the age of 25.
'Criminal Minds' Star Shemar Moore Robbed of $60K from Former Friend and Colleague
Shemar Moore, who portrayed beloved FBI agent Derek Morgan on Criminal Minds, was robbed of $61,084 by an actor and former colleague who guest-starred on the hit crime drama.
According to court documents obtained by ET, Keith Tisdell, 42, was convicted on charges that he stole money from Moore. An agreement was reached Wednesday morning in California, in which Tisdell will repay the 46-year-old actor.
Tisdell is ordered to pay restitution to Baby Girl LLC, a charity created by Moore (named after one of his signature phrases on the show) that aims to help those battling multiple sclerosis. Tisdell was involved with the charity and arrested in January on suspicion of embezzlement. Moore reportedly learned of the missing cash from an audit.
The news comes just one day after another Criminal Minds star, Thomas Gibson, made headlines for allegedly kicking a writer in the leg while filming scenes a few weeks ago. He was temporarily suspended from the show, and permanently let go from the CBS series on Friday.
"Thomas Gibson has been dismissed from Criminal Minds," a joint statement from ABC Studios and CBS Television Studios read. "Creative details for how the character's exit will be addressed in the show will be announced at a later date."
Gibson, who played Aaron Hotchner, quickly responded to the news, stating, "I love Criminal Minds and have put my heart and soul into it for the last 12 years."
"I had hoped to see it through to the end, but that won't be possible now," Gibson continued. "I would just like to say thank you to the writers, producers, actors, our amazing crew, and, most importantly, the best fans that a show could ever hope to have."
Jhene Aiko Files for Divorce....AFTER Her Public Coupledom With Big Sean
So about that marriage Jhene Aiko had with producer Dot Da Genius....she just filed for divorce. And no one is shocked as she and rapper Big Sean have become closer than close. Deets inside...
Just a few months after Dot Da Genius announced he and Jhene Aiko had gotten married, he randomly deleted all mentions of Jhene on his social media. The sudden change also happened around the same time she and Big Sean kicked off their Twenty88 super duo project....and they were spotted court side at basketball games together looking quite cozy.
Since then, the two have been riding the fine line of couple-for-publicity and couple-for-real. Jhene & Sean post pics of and with each other nonstop, leave heart emojis on each other's posts, and they even made out on stage at a concert recently.
There was talk that maybe Jhene was never actually married to Dot Da Genius. Now we she was.
TMZ reports Jhene filed for divorce last month, after 11 months of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences. The filing came AFTER that on-stage make out session though back in June at Power 106's #Powerhouse concert in LA.
By the way, Jhene's asking the judge to deny Dot spousal support. He's probably looking at his comp now like...

Donnie McClurkin Shares Plans to Wed Contemporary Christian Singer Nicole C Mullen
Donnie McClurkin was the musical guest on TBN's long-running "Praise the Lord" ministry show Thursday night where it was revealed that he and Nicole C. Mullen are getting married.
Matt Crouch and his wife, Laurie, were joined on the show by guests A.R. Bernard and McClurkin where the former revealed that he would be giving McClurkin marriage counseling in the near future.
Rumors that McClurkin and Mullen were dating started circulating after the two attended this year's Stellar Awards together. But the gospel singers never made an official announcement about their romance until Thursday's episode of "Praise the Lord."
Bernard hinted at McClurkin's engagement during a discussion about his new book, What Women Want From Men. Crouch then stood up and announced that the 56-year-old "We Fall Down" singer and Perfecting Faith Church pastor is, in fact, on course to getting married.
"OK, are you ready for something? You want me to just drop something on ya?" Crouch asked the audience as he shouted, "Donnie McClurkin's getting married! Come on!"
The audience erupted with praise as the camera zoomed in on a stunned McClurkin who was possibly not aware that Crouch was going to make the announcement on an international television show. Laurie, afraid that her husband had spoken too soon, asked if they should consider editing the information out of the program but McClurkin then proceeded to explain his decision.
"Well praise God," McClurkin responded. "Honestly, the only thing in my life that is missing is marriage. The only thing that is missing in my life that can cause real family, is marriage. Financially, I'm there. Spiritually, I'm almost there. Emotionally, I'm getting it together. But the only thing that's missing out of everything that I'm doing locally, cross country and globally is that aspect that makes family, family — is that wife that would make man whole, that element that brings favor to man."
The pastor went on to quote Proverbs 18:22. The verse says "he who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord." And that is what McClurkin says he's looking forward to in this season of his life.
"I have a lot of great things, but I don't have a good thing, and there's favor that can only come through marriage to a man," he continued.
The New York-based minster talked about spending his nights watching Cartoon Network until 2 a.m. and confessed that he has come to realize the missing part of his existence is to have a help mate.
"To have someone that I can love. I'm not saying to love me, 'cause there's a lot of people that love me. I want someone that I can love, heal and comfort, protect and secure. That's what I want," he said.
Bernard agreed that a wife is the accountability partner that God gives to men to help them in the maturation process. The show then progressed to become an on the spot premarital counseling session for the Grammy Award-winner.
Twenty-three minutes into the program, Crouch asked McClurkin to name his future bride. McClurkin then described how God brought him and Mullen together on an flight to Africa in December 2015.
McClurkin said that even though they've known each other for 15 years, the first time they really had a chance to talk was when they were seated next to each other on a flight to the Ivory Coast, during which they spoke for eight hours.
Both singers have been open about their love lives in the past. Mullen was previously married to CCM singer-songwriter David Mullen, before they announced their divorce in 2014.
While McClurkin has never been married, the single father has been open about his struggles with his feelings of loneliness.
Adrienne Bailon Gets Engaged to Boyfriend Israel Houghton in Paris: See Her MASSIVE Ring!
Truly the city of love. Adrienne Bailon recently got engaged to her boyfriend, Israel Houghton, while on a whirlwind trip to Paris, the former Cheetah Girl revealed via Instagram on Friday, August 12
The giddy 32-year-old shared two cute snippets of the pair’s special moment on the social media site. The first showed Bailon and Houghton, 45, smooching before the Eiffel Tower while aboard a boat. The second showed the singer’s hand adorned with a massive sparkling engagement ring, set before the historic landmark at night.
“You. Me. Oui,” she captioned the second image, in which her diamond ring seems to glitter more than the tower itself.
The pair first went public with their relationship this past April, and immediately faced a slew of criticism about the timing of their relationship. (Houghton filed for divorce from his estranged wife of 20 years just one month prior.)
The Grammy award-winning Christian music artist addressed disapproving fans in a Facebook post in March after photos surfaced of the pair getting cozy in Tulum, Mexico.
“I met Adrienne Bailon a bit over 2 years ago, we worked together & became friends,” he wrote at the time. “Our circles connected & we remained good friends. From a friendship, as two single adults we have very recently begun to explore a dating relationship,” he shared. “As I previously wrote in a statement I released a while back, My marriage had been over for quite some time before going public with my divorce announcement.”
Bailon was previously engaged to Lenny Santiago, but the couple broke off their seven-month engagement in September 2015 after six months together. The Real co-host also famously dated Rob Kardashian from 2007 to 2009

*The long-gestating sequel in the “Bad Boys” franchise with returning stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence has been pushed back to early 2018…and now has an official title.
Originally slated for June 2, 2017, the third film will now arrive in theaters on Jan. 2, 2018, under the title, “Bad Boys for Life,” Sony announced Thursday.
There had been some question as to whether Smith would return to the franchise, but he confirmed earlier this year that he would indeed reteam with Lawrence. He’s currently n theaters with “Suicide Squad.”
The first two “Bad Boys” films were directed by Michael Bay and hit theaters in 1995 and 2003.
Woman Who Stabbed Solange Knowles’ Friend Pleads No Contest to Misdemeanor
Aaronesia Christophe, who was charged with attempted murder for stabbing Solange Knowles’ friend and business partner Armina Mussa, entered a plea of no contest to a misdemeanor charge of aggravated assault in a deal with Orleans Parish District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro’s office – according to a new report.
After the hearing, Aaronesia Christophe and her attorney, Ike Spears, stated that the reason she agreed to the deal was only to avoid a trial and a possible 10- to 50-year prison sentence if she were found guilty as charged.
The incident went down last year in New Orleans. Christophe says she attacked and slashed Armina Mussa in self-defense. She alleges that Mussa confronted her in a St. Roch-area parking. Christophe said Mussa grabbed her hair, pulled her down and started beating her.
She also accused Cannizzaro’s office of pursuing the attempted murder charge because they were pressured Solange Knowles.
Christophe entered her no-contest plea following a meeting with Cannizzaro in the chambers of Criminal District Court Judge Karen Herman, who already had seated a 12-member jury in the case Tuesday morning.
Following the plea, Herman handed Christophe a deferred six-month jail sentence with six months of probation.
Mussa, who works with Knowles on her Saint Heron creative brand and website, did not appear in court
African American New Children’s Book Alert – Little Professor Skye Favorite Things
Little Professor Skye “Favorite Things” is the first in a series of children’s books targeting Black girls. It actually provides an opening where parents and educators can actively engage readers in various discussion topics where it’s math, science, technology and many gifts. Readers will immediately relate and identify with the idea of annotating their favorite things. According to it’s author “Munson Steed” he let us in on a few tid bits of information of what to expect:
Initially, Skye’s list is familiar and filled with teachable moments. She loves to begin a new day. She loves brushing her teeth and washing her face. As the day progresses, Skye’s list grows to include favorites in diverse areas of interest: Skye loves to play dress up, but she also loves soccer, martial arts, riding her bicycle in the park and tea time with her stuffed animals. Soon, Skye’s interests become more complex, but still seem natural to the character. Skye conspires with “mother nature” and gardens in a greenhouse, composes her own music, and creates pottery for the home. Skye visits the library and the museum. At both locations, she notes the importance of research and fact gathering, communal intelligence and resources. She excavates a relic and works in a science lab to create a serum that will change the world.
Seems the author was inspired by President’s Barack Obama’s quote in Feb 2013 when he stated the following:
“One of the things that I really strongly believe in is that we need to have more girls interested in math, science, and engineering. We’ve got half the population that is way underrepresented in those fields and that means that we’ve got a whole bunch of talent … not being encouraged the way they need to.”
I personally am in love with the artwork. Little girls and little boys need more reading material. I especially think African American books for kids should take a front row seat in book stores nationwide. This will only happen if we support our African American authors. What are your thoughts? Are you collecting specialty books for little girls of color? We will keep you posted regarding Professor Skye’s first book signing.
