The Daily Buzz For May 26

Kerry Washington, Regina King & More Grace ‘The Hollywood Reporter’
Kerry Washington, Jennifer Lopez and Regina King join Julianna Margulies, Sarah Paulson, Kirsten Dunst and Constance Zimmer on the cover of the last issue of The Hollywood Reporter. The actresses are dressed in simple white, nude and peach toned pieces and gathered together to discuss nudity, network fights and the ‘diva’ label among other important things.
“You have a little bit of a safety [on network television],” Kerry told THR in regards to nudity in the acting world. “Part of it for me is the director and the producers and that trust. There have been times in my career where the nudity wasn’t about the story, it wasn’t about the character, it was just because that shit sells.”
“It’s the opposite for me once I had kids,” said Jennifer Lopez. “In videos and things that I do, I’m very sexy and wear little clothes, but the truth is, when it comes to acting, I did it earlier in my career and now I just don’t feel sometimes that you have to do it. I’ve changed in that sense.”
When the ladies were asked whether or not empathy was a key part of playing a real life public figure, (i.e Sarah Paulson as Marcia Clark on The People vs OJ Simpson and Kerry who played Attorney Anita Hill in the HBO film Confirmation) Kerry said: I think it is because you have to embody that. I have to love the person I’m playing — even if you have a hard time loving them, I have to love them. For me, it was tricky because as a producer [on Confirmation], I wanted to produce a film about the hearings that was really complicated and where you felt pulled toward all of the characters. And I wanted all of the actors to feel enormous compassion for their [characters]. This is not a he said, she said; it’s a real, complicated portrait of how everybody was doing the best they could with what they had at the time. But as an actor, I was like, “It’s all about Anita [Hill].” (Laughs.) So, the developing of the script was where I really tried to lean into the other characters and make sure that the story felt very balanced and that I felt compassion toward all of them; but there was a point about two weeks before shooting where I was like, “Peace out, you’re on your own, I got her now and you guys have to protect those other people.”

And we’ll just put it like this ILOSM fam’- Not everyone is a songbird, some of us are vocally challenged. With that said, take a look at a short video clip of Nene and Smokey singing their “woo-woo-woos” with Jeffrey Osborne and Kenny Lattimore.

Nene's the only female voice you hear singing on the mic.

New Hip Hop; Listen to The Roots’ NBA Finals Theme Song ‘Champion’
They shoot and score once again. The Roots join forces with the National Basketball Association for “Champion,” the official theme song for this year’s NBA Finals.

“Success in life comes when you simply refuse to give up,” Black Thought explains in the intro. “On a mission so strong that obstacles like failure and loss only act as motivation.”
Then, when the rhymes kick off, Black Thought continues firing on all inspiring cylinders. “I fell in love with the game and never looked back,” he raps. “My foundation and frame, they never shook that / Been trailblazing my name into the book that / Represents all the champs who had a chance and took that.”
Listen to their inspiring anthem HERE
It’s undetermined who will be in the Finals this year. Currently, the Golden State Warriors are battling the Oklahoma City Thunder for the West, while the Cleveland Cavaliers and Drake’s Toronto Raptors face off in the East. The winner of each series will move on for a chance at the Larry O’Brien trophy.

Milan Christopher shows shocking photo from alleged Miles Brock fight
Like most artists, Milan Christopher uses the drama of his personal life play as inspiration for his music. He and fellow “Love & Hip Hop Hollywood” star Miles Brock definitely had one of the most drama-filled relationships on the show last season. However, the drama went beyond typical he say, she say and cheating scandals and culminated in one shockingly violent night. Now, Milan has opened up about the night with an eye-popping new photo.

Milan recently released a video for his single “When I Go” and in the clip he plays a man who is not only harassed on the street for being gay, but he’s also beaten by his boyfriend after the harassment incident.
The video culminates in Milan’s character swallowing a bunch of pills and then jumping into a pool to commit suicide.

For most fans, the clip came as a sobering and shocking look into Milan’s mind. But the reality TV star gave fans even more to talk about last night when he opened up about his real-life experience of domestic violence.
As previously reported, Milan had Miles arrested last year after he accused Miles and his friends of attacking him during a Halloween party in NYC.
Although it’s been months since he’s spoken about the alleged attack, Milan opened up about it last night and explained how the incident gave him inspiration for his latest video. He also shared a shocking photo of a scar on his forehead, which he claims he got as a result of Miles hitting him.

“Here’s some never before seen pics from when I was attacked by my ex. I still remember it like it was yesterday. The attack … The attack by the person I called my lover, my friend. The bombardment of my personal space by not just him but his friends. The disrespect.. The humility. The hurt. I remember it all. I remember picking up the phone and the 1st persons I called was @monascottyoung & @stefateaser … I was so scared that I would get fired from the show I was on, that I kept that I was actually punched from them. I remember standing in the mirror and asking myself … Why would someone I loved so much do this to me. I remember being so confused not knowing if I was still in love or not or thinking was things going to get better between me and him, so I never once went to court. I remember the pain & the hurt but most of all I remember feeling helpless! I wish my music video was art imitating life, but it is actually my life manifesting through my art. I wish I could muster up the time to make an amateur dis track, or tell lies to the masses. I’m not that person all I can do is be me, like me, love me or hate me.. That’s all I can do. I will continue to create music and videos that relate to my life which hopefully influences others like me or people who have gone through or going through the things I have. I love you guys & wish you all the best #milanchristopher #BeYourAuthenticself #Amberrose #Zendaya #Chrisbrown #Rihanna #TheGame #SkaiJackson #NEWMUSICVIDEO #Madonna #BBMAs #Prince #BetAwards #Vh1 #LoveAndHipHop #Mtv #LoveAndHipHop #Beyonce #JustinBieber #Adele #Taylorswift,” Milan captioned the post.
Miles has yet to comment on the post but we wouldn’t be surprised if he says something about it in the near future. For now, we can say that Milan is definitely going to get a lot of attention for this post and his new video.

Former Bad Boy acts not happy about Puff Daddy snubbing them
’90’s hip-hop and R&B fans have been overjoyed as of late thanks to Puff Daddy’s latest Bad Boy Records 20th Anniversary Reunion Tour, which launched last Friday. And although the tour is, of course, featuring some of Bad Boy’s most iconic acts, some of Puff’s former stars recently spoke out on the tour and explained that they feel snubbed by not being asked to join the tour, as well.

As previously reported, the reunion tour recently had a two-night stint at the Barclays Center in New York that featured top Bad Boy Acts like Faith Evans, 112, Total, Ma$e, French Montana and The LOX, as well as superstar guests like Mary J. Blige, Lil’ Kim, Jay Z, Nas, Usher, DMX and Swizz Beats. What Saturday’s show even more special is that it fell upon the birthday of Bad Boy’s biggest star ever, the late great Notorious B.I.G.

With such a major lineup, fans, of course, have been sharing their praise for the tour all weekend. However, according to media reports, some have noted that former Bad Boy acts like Da Band, B5 and Diddy Dirty Money weren’t invited on the tour and some of the former acts recently spoke out about being snubbed by their former mentor.
Dustin Michael of Puff’s former boy band B5 spoke about the snub and explained that he was hurt that Puff didn’t consider them worthy enough to hit the stage for the tour.
“We just felt like our relationship [with Diddy] was better than that,” Michael said.
Former Da Band singer Sara Stokes also spoke about the snub and explained that her group deserved a spot on the tour because of the indelible mark they made on pop culture with Puff.

“We made history with Diddy on ‘Making the Band’ and pretty much opened the doors for all the other reality shows,” Stokes said.
However, her former group mate, Babs Bunny, said that she’s not upset about the snub and that she’d still buy a ticket to go see the show.

Honestly, we doubt that many fans are upset about B5, Da Band, Day 26 or even Danity Kane not being on the tour roster. But do you think those groups deserved a spot on the tour?

My, My My Celebs Come out To Celebrate New Edition Singer Johnny Gill’s 50th Birthday!
Several of Johnny’s celeb friends stepped out for the “50 Shades of Johnny” themed bash held at a private Bel-Air mansion. Johnny’s longtime friend Nicole Murphy (who’s ex-husband Eddie Murphy is Johnny’s bestie), was on the scene for the festivities. You’ll recall, Nicole starred as Johnny’s on-screen love interest in his video “Behind Closed Doors" in 2014.
“Empire”star/rapper Bryshere “Yazz” Gray, who’s gearing up to star as Michael Bivins in the New Edition biopic, and New Edition singer Ricky Bell also came out to wish the birthday boy a Happy Birthday. Yazz recently cut his hair to transform into Michael for the miniseries and he's currently filming in L.A. along with the cast.
The Georgia peaches were in the building! “Real Housewives of Atlanta” stars Cynthia Bailey and NeNe Leakes stepped out to sip on some bubbly and party the night away.
A reunion went down during the shindig. New Edition members Ronnie Devoe, Michael Bivins and Ricky Bell served up nostalgia with their photo-op. Notably missing? Bobby Brown.
Ced The Entertainer showed up too!

R&B crooner Luke James (who also stars in the New Edition biopic), legendary singer-songwriter Smokey Robinson and LTD singer Jeffrey Osborne were all smiles during the party.
R&B singer Joe and Rocsi Diaz were all cuddled up for a photo-op with the birthday boy. Mmhmm...
it appears these two are indeed an item.
Other guests included  legendary artist Debbie Allen, actress Sheryl Lee Ralph came out for the fun:
Looking good ladies!
Johnny took center stage to perform his hit track "My My My" for his guests and he didn't miss a beat.

Fun times. Happy Birthday Johnny!

Chris Brown has Started Another Feud And This Time He Might Lose
OH BOYEE! Chris Brown is angering folks with his antics once again.

Breezy’s Tarzana, California neighbors have been complaining about the singer riding ATVs at high speeds through the neighborhood, endangering children and pets. Chris fired back on Instagram with a screenshot of a news broadcast about the feud and a comment reading, “What Neighbors???”
This isn’t the first time Chris Brown has gotten in trouble with his ATVs. Earlier this month, video taken by one of his neighbors showed the 27-year-old driving the 4-wheeler around nearby land with a friend.

No word on whether Chris will face any punishment, but riding an ATV on a public street is illegal and his neighbors don’t seem like they will tolerate it.

11 States Sue Obama Administration Over Transgender Bathroom Access
The federal government is requiring public schools to allow trans students to use bathrooms that match their gender identity.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) and officials in 10 additional states have filed a lawsuit against the Obama administration after it told schools and colleges to allow transgender students to use the bathroom that matches their gender identity to comply with existing civil rights laws.

The lawsuit was announced Wednesday afternoon. Texas is joined by Alabama, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Tennessee, Arizona, Maine, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Utah and Georgia in the suit.

The federal guidance, announced earlier this month, requires public schools to protect transgender students from harassment and allow them to use bathrooms and locker rooms consistent with the gender they identify with, regardless of what’s on their birth certificate. The administration cites Title IX, the federal law that prohibits discrimination based on sex.
“No student should ever have to go through the experience of feeling unwelcome at school or on a college campus,” said Education Secretary John King Jr.

President Barack Obama defended the action earlier this month.
“It is part of our obligation as a society to make sure everybody is treated fairly,” he said.
The move drew a strong rebuke from Republican governors, including Mississippi’s Phil Bryant, Arkansas’ Asa Hutchinson and Kentucky’s Matt Bevin. Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (R) said he’d be willing to forfeit billions in federal education funding to fight the federal guidance. GOP lawmakers in Oklahoma even introduced a measure to impeach Obama over it.

“[The Obama administration has] conspired to turn workplaces and educational settings across the country into laboratories for a massive social experiment, flouting the democratic process, and running roughshod over commonsense policies protecting children and basic privacy rights,” reads the complaint. “Absent action in Congress, the States, or local communities, Defendants cannot foist these radical changes on the nation.”
The bathroom controversy is rooted in a transphobic myth that by allowing trans people to use the facility consistent with their gender identity, schools are leaving students susceptible to predators. There is no evidence that this actually happens, and as HuffPost’s Noah Michelson pointed out, laws already forbid predatory actions.

Human Rights Campaign communications director Jay Brown criticized Paxton’s lawsuit, referencing his challenge to the Supreme Court’s ruling on same-sex marriage last summer.
“Ken Paxton has already disgraced himself and his office by undermining the rule of law and shamefully encouraging state officials to ignore the U.S. Supreme Court’s marriage equality decision last June. Now, he’s gone so far as to attack transgender youth, whom he has a responsibility to protect as Attorney General,” Brown said in a statement. “Ken Paxton’s use of taxpayer resources to dismantle such protections is a reckless and expensive abdication of his responsibilities, and he should be held accountable.”
