The Daily Buzz For May 2

Steph & Ayesha Curry Cover ‘Parents’ Magazine With Daughters Riley & Ryan!
Steph Curry and his wife Ayesha pose for a super cute shoot for Parents magazine’s June 2016 issue, along with their adorable daughters Riley and Ryan.

Riley, now 3, stole the show at a post-game press conference following one of Steph and the Golden State Warriors wins last year, and inside the issue, the All-Star point guard talks how the moment went down.
“Riley wanted to hang out with me. She had that look, like she wasn’t going to take no for an answer,” he explains. “She sat up there, and that’s when her personality shined bright. … She’s got a great sense of humor.
He goes on to say that she has become “the star of the family.”
If we go somewhere without her, the first question people ask us is, ‘Where’s Riley?”

Ayesha touches on how busy her two daughters keep, and how much of a challenge it is, getting them all out of the house at once.
“The amount of stuff you get done in a day is insane. Like, what were we doing with our time before kids?” she says.“It’s an event to get all four of us out of the house at once. When we get in the car and we’ve brought everything and everybody has socks on, it’s like a dream come true.”
The 27-year-old cookbook author and soon-to-be host of a Food Network show also gushes about her hubby, and how hands-on he is with their girls.
“The thing I love about him is that he’s not too cool for school,” Ayesha says. “He’ll get down on the floor and play with the girls. He’ll put on dress-up clothes if he has to, and he’s very patient, which is something I’m not. We balance each other out.”
Steph shares that they have matching tattoos (two arrows pointing at each other). “This signifies that the past is behind us and the future is in front of us, so we stay in the middle, in the moment,” he explains. He reveals that with their pre-game ritual: “I smack my tattoo and she does the same.”
“It’s a reminder for him to have fun. I never want him to forget that,” Ayesha adds.
The couple also talks wanting more kids, but being content with watching their two grow up, for now, and how exciting it will be to watch them go through childhood milestones.

#RHOA: Uh Oh! Cynthia Bailey and Peter Thomas – Couple Sued For $225K!
Cynthia Bailey and Peter Thomas can’t seem to catch a break! Be it incriminating video evidence from Peter Thomas looking like he’s cheating, rumors of divorce and separation, now the couple has run into some financial bumps after being sued for a whopping $225K for a bar fight!
TMZ is reporting that a bar patron who is claiming that Peter assaulted him is arguing that the case was rigged in Peter’s favor due to tampering or editing of the video evidence:

“In the docs, Brandon Link claims Sports One Bar staffers and/or Peter tampered with surveillance camera footage of the incident. He also says Peter barked he was busy “working on some p****” … when Link tried to talk business. According to Link, Peter screamed, “Do you think I give a F*** about your money!!” … then threw Link into a chair or table.”

The case was dismissed after seeing the video footage; however the patron is fighting back due to injures and asking
Peter and Cynthia have basically been living separate lives, and after everything that Peter put Cynthia through (ahem that OTHER video) I’m sure this isn’t helping Peter win Cynthia back.
Peter seems to get into a lot of trouble with people in bars. I know he owns a bar but maybe for the sake of staying out of trouble he should find a new hangout? There’s definitely something with Peter, bars and videos that don’t mix.

What do you think of the case? Do you think this will the final straw for Cynthia?

#EMPIREFOXTV: Ratings: Fox’s ‘Empire’ Dominates Repeat Competition!
On a night when its primary competition aired in repeats, Fox’s “Empire” towered over the primetime field Wednesday, a night that also saw CBS’ “Survivor” edge up for a second straight week as it nears the end of its season and CW’s “Arrow” shoot higher with its first new episode in three weeks.

Fox led Wednesday in key demos, even if “Rosewood” placed third in its timeslot (1.3/5 in 18-49, 4.8 million viewers overall); the already-renewed procedural was up a tenth from the prior two weeks. “Empire” (3.7/12 in 18-49, 9.8 million viewers overall) held steady week to week to dominate its hour in key demos while standing as the night’s most-watched program overall. The soap mowed down its repeat competition, beating the combined scores of “Modern Family,” “Criminal Minds” and “Law & Order: SVU” in the 9 o’clock half-hour by 12% in 18-49 (3.6 vs. 3.2) and by 74% in adults 18-34 (3.3 vs. 1.9).

GOOD JOB COOKIE AND LUCIOUS!

#NEWRNBMUSIC: The Return of Dave Hollister Announces New Album ‘The Manuscript,’ Drops First Single “Definition Of A Woman”
YESSSSSSS! After breaking into the music business as part of Teddy Riley’s hit-making group BlackStreet, Dave Hollister brought his gritty tenor, down home and soul-drenched ‘keeping it real’ approach to a string of hits.

Although, many feel that he has been under-recognized, possibly because of the multi-faceted nature of his personal and artistic journey. Shanachie Entertainment is proud to announce that, in partnership with Conjunction Entertainment, TopNotch Music, and Hollister Music Group, they will release Hollister’s new album, The MANuscript, on August 19.

The follow-up to 2014’s Chicago Winds…The Saga Continues, the album has been described as “a state-of-the-nation exploration of the nature of men, women and relationships on the contemporary landscape.” In addition to the announcement about the album, the R&B vocalist has shared the project’s first single, the moving ballad “Definition of a Woman,” produced by Walter W. Millsap III (Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Lopez).

“We are really pleased to be releasing Dave Hollister’s new album, which I think will be received as a major artistic statement by him,” says Shanachie General Manager Randall Grass. “While it is widely recognized that he has a great voice, we don’t feel that the depth of his talent has gotten its due yet. We think this album will change that.”

Hollister just shot the music video for “Definition of a Woman,” which co-stars fellow Chicagoan, actress Lisa Raye.

#FORMATION: Beyonce Cancels Nashville Stop of Formation World Tour + Also is Apple BLOCKING Lemonade?
Beyonce pulled the plug on the upcoming Nashville, Tennessee, stop of her Formation World Tour, and her fans are disappointed, to say the least.

The news, which TMZ reported on Friday, April 29, comes just days after the superstar songstress, 34, kicked off her tour in Miami on Wednesday, April 27, and less than a week after she dropped surprise album Lemonade following her April 23 HBO special.
"Following Wednesday’s sold out opening night Formation World Tour concert in Miami, promoters Live Nation announced that the Nashville concert previously scheduled for Thursday, May 5th will be rescheduled," a rep for Live Nation tells Us Weekly in a statement. "Details about the rescheduled date will be announced shortly and Nashville tickets holders are advised to retain their tickets which will be honored at the rescheduled event. ... Live Nation apologizes for any inconvenience."

An unofficial Twitter account chronicling the World Tour tweeted that the main reason for the cancelation was due to “stadium construction.”
The May 5 Nashville show was set to take place at Nissan Stadium, where the Tennessee Titans regularly play.
The Twitter account for the stadium responded to the suggestion that it wasn't ready to host the mega-event, tweeting, "Nissan Stadium was ready and able to host the May 5 Beyoncé show, and we look forward to the rescheduled event."

No new dates for the rescheduled show have been announced, and according to TMZ, no other concert dates will be affected by the last-minute change.

ALSO What’s up with this? Last week Beyonce released her highly anticipated new album Lemonade exclusively on TIDAL for 24 hours

Is Apple retaliating against Beyonce for withholding her music...?
The BeyHive sure seems to think so.
I swear sometimes this BeyHive need to really chill!

Oprah’s Not Worried About Flack From Church Folk
*For decades, my girl Oprah has spoken passionately about “intention.” She’s famously asked many guests what their “intention” was before sitting down to talk with them, and she seems grounded in a belief that if your intention is pure and significant, your work will bear fruit.
So it was not really a surprise to learn that the Queen of All Media wasn’t concerned with the possible backlash against her upcoming drama ‘Greenleaf,’ a one-hour scripted drama which promises to pull the curtain back from the inner workings of the black church and the family that runs one.
“Our intention is to use this as a platform for telling great stories,” the 62-year-old media tycoon said, during a press screening of Greenleaf. “Our intention is to be mindful and respectful of the church as an institution. Only good can come from that.”
The family drama focuses on a fictional megachurch in Memphis, Calvary Fellowship World Ministries, headed by Bishop James Greenleaf and Lady Mae Greenleaf, played by Lynn Whitfield. Viewers soon learn that the good Bishop’s life is more sinister than godly. Winfrey herself returns to the screen, playing Mavis McCready, Lady Mae’s sister, in the new series.

While the show’s explicit content might rankle some, Winfrey is undeterred (that’s one of the things I love about her!).
“I grew ups in the black church,” Winfrey shared. “I wouldn’t be who I am without it.” She said from the beginning, she told Greenleaf’s writers that the show wasn’t “…just about a church, it’s the nurse, doctor, lawyer, psychologist, our therapy, nurturer, support, it’s our rock.”
With Fox’s success with the drama Empire, which is centered around a prominent black family, Winfrey wants similar ratings for her OWN network.
Let’s hope that Greenleaf is of better quality than OWN’s scripted Tyler Perry vanity projects, like The Have And The Have Nots. The show may be a guilty pleasure of yours, but let’s face it: that show won’t be winning any writing or directing Emmys any time soon.

Oh? Alicia Vikander cast as the new, rebooted Lara Croft: great choice or NAH?
The last time we heard anything about the reboot of the Lara Croft franchise, it was last month, when we learned that Daisy Ridley was in talks to play Lara. The reboot, we heard, would focus on Lara’s earlier years, her college-student years, before she became the buxom Tomb Raider played by Angelina Jolie. Daisy is 24 years old, and while petite, would have been able to handle the physicality of the role. But producers decided to go with someone else: 27-year-old Alicia Vikander, a Swede. Vikander is fresh off the awards season, and this is the first role she’s landed since winning the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for The Danish Girl. Vikander also landed a supporting role in Jason Bourne, which filmed late last year and early this year, but I don’t think her part was very physical? I’m just saying… Vikander is a veteran of costume dramas, not physical action work. But I guess she impressed producers.

Alicia Vikander has been cast as Lara Croft for MGM, Warner Bros and GK Films in Tomb Raider. The reboot will tell the story of a young and untested Lara Croft fighting to survive her first adventure. Roar Uthaug (The Wave) is directing. MGM and Warner Bros are co-producing the film with MGM overseeing production. They acquired film rights from GK Films, which had previously purchased film rights in 2011 from Square Enix LTD. Graham King is serving as producer.

This is the latest plum role for Vikander, and arguably her highest-profile one yet. She next co-stars in Jason Bourne opposite Matt Damon. Her success continues to rise following a successful 2015 that saw her performance in Tom Hooper’s The Danish Girl win an Academy Award for best supporting actress as well as a memorable turn in Ex Machina as possibly the best-looking and ruthless robot in the history of cinema. She also has The Light Between Oceans opposite Michael Fassbender in the pipelines. That film has been generating awards-season buzz even though it will not be released before the end of the year.

This was a role that every young actress was after with Daisy Ridley, Cara Delevigne, Emilia Clarke and Saoirse Ronan all rumored at some point. Vikander looks a strong choice for this potential franchise, given she has form with a perfect English accent. She is currently filming Submergence for Wim Wenders opposite James McAvoy.

[From Deadline]

“…Given she has form with a perfect English accent…” If you say so, Deadline. Given the shortlist, I do think Vikander was probably the strongest choice, side-by-side with Daisy Ridley. I kind of wonder if Daisy would have been a bigger contender for this role if only her schedule for Star Wars was a bit looser. Anyway… this Lara Croft reboot was never going to be for me. It’s for a new generation of fan-boys and fan-girls who want to see a different, less buxom version of Lara Croft. I wish them well and I hope the scripts are better than the Jolie-version scripts.

Your Thoughts?
