The Daily Buzz For Oct 12

Black Men Rally In D.C. For 20th Anniversary Of Million Man March
Black men from around the nation are gathering on the National Mall to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Million Man March and call for policing reforms and changes in black communities.
Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, who spearheaded the original march, will lead an anniversary gathering Saturday at the Capitol called the "Justice or Else" march.
"I plan to deliver an uncompromising message and call for the government of the United States to respond to our legitimate grievances," Farrakhan said in a statement.
Attention has been focused on the deaths of unarmed black men since the shootings of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in 2012 in Florida and 18-year-old Michael Brown in 2014 in Ferguson, Missouri. Deaths of unarmed black males at the hands of law enforcement officers have inspired protests under the "Black Lives Matter" moniker around the country.
The original march on Oct. 16, 1995, brought hundreds of thousands to Washington to pledge to improve their lives, their families and their communities. Women, whites and other minorities were not invited to the original march, but organizers say all are welcome Saturday and that they expect to get hundreds of thousands of participants.
The National Park Service estimated the attendance at the original march to be around 400,000, but subsequent counts by private organizations put the number at 800,000 or higher. The National Park Service has refused to give crowd estimates on Mall activities since.
President Barack Obama, who attended the first Million Man March, will be in California on Saturday.
Life has improved in some way for African-American men since the original march, but not in others. For example: The unemployment rate for African-American men in October 1995 was 8.1 percent, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. In September it was 8.9 percent.
-In 1995, 73.4 percent of African-American men had high school degrees. In 2004, 84.3 percent did, according to the Census Bureau.
-Law enforcement agencies made 3.5 million arrests of blacks in 1994, which was 30.9 percent of all arrests, the FBI said. (By comparison, they made 7.6 million arrests of whites that year, which was 66 percent of all arrests.) By 2013, the latest available data, African-American arrests had decreased to 2.5 million, 28 percent of all arrests.

Chanting the chorus of Kendrick Lamar‘s incendiary single “Alright” as they raised fists and handmade signs into the cool fall air, demonstrators took to the streets of Washington D.C. Saturday to mark the 20th anniversary of the Million Man March. Protesting protesting state-sanctioned racial injustice, police brutality and the systemic racism that continues to beleaguer American society.
Social media posts captured the scene, including a few moving seconds of the “Alright” refrain..

In a new ‘eye popping’ interview...."Scandal" starlet Kerry Washington sat down with Yahoo’s Style Sessions to chop it up about her ground breaking role in the hit ABC series.Olivia Pope’s character is one of the pioneering roles that has helped changed the game as far as black women being portrayed in powerful roles on television.

When talking about Olivia’s significance, the 38-year-old actress said he hopes to see Olivia be considered as a powerful human being and NOT just a powerful woman of color. She said,

“That’s not something that’s happened in almost 40 years. In my lifetime, it hadn’t happened!” Washington says, reflecting on the advancement that her character represents in the entertainment industry. She goes on, with conviction: “I love that it isn’t a part of the conversation anymore. We’re not really talking about how it’s rare to see a black woman on television anymore, because it’s all over the place. We just love Kandi for always keeping it 100. Our friends at HipHollywood caught up with the RHOA star in Atlanta Thursday afternoon, and she told them what fans can expect from the upcoming season, including that altercation between Porsha Williams and Cynthia Bailey.

“It’s good TV, ” Burruss jokingly said before elaborating on the spat which lead to Bailey kicking Williams in the stomach. “I think it was one of those arguments that kind of got out of control, it wasn’t even initially them arguing,” said Kandi before comparing it to the now infamous incident between she Cynthia, Peter and Todd that almost led to a fight. “I feel like it was other people who were going back and forth, and [that energy] transferred and then they started having words.” “Cynthia said she felted threatened,” added Kandi with a hearty laugh.

Following the incident that occurred in September while the ladies were at a boat party, Williams was taken via ambulance to the hospital. A source told us exclusively that Porsha was “sent home quickly.” She has since decided not to press charges against Bailey

OOPS! El Chapo Puts $100M Bounty On Donald Trump’s HEAD!
Mexican drug lord Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán is still somewhere enjoying life, and probably a cerveza and taking in a soccer game. He’s also managed to find time to reportedly put a $100M bounty on the head of Donald Trump.

Reports Latina: El Chapo escaped from maximum security prison in Mexico earlier this year via ventilated, lit tunnel that exited in a house construction site nearly a mile away. The Mexican drug lord has evaded capture, and now appears to be doing some investigative work of his own.
According to TeleSurTV, El Chapo has increased the bounty on Trump’s head to a steep $100 million. An unnamed told the source that the drug lord was “mad” about Trump’s inflammatory statements about Mexicans.
“He wants Donald Trump dead,” the unnamed source added. “And he will pay any amount of money to have Donald Trump’s head.”
The threats have yet to be confirmed, although a Trump employee told Gossip Cop that the threat “is no joke.”
